International rugby could hit a new proposal on the burst in Dublin.
The sport's bosses are holding discussions at the governing body headquarters about introducing a new north-south competition every two years.
Representatives from the Six Nations and Sanzaar are present, including New Zealand's chief executive Mark Robinson.
The players association is also understood to be agreeable to the concept.
Initial suggestions are that the tournament would begin in 2026 but the competition would not be played in World Cup or British & Irish Lions tour years.
Revenue sharing still needs sorting but former All Blacks coach John Hart has told the Mike Hosking Breakfast he's in favour to avoid the national side getting isolated for opponents.
“This is great for the game, I think particularly for All Black rugby. We need this competition.”
