Concern children will be impacted the most by a new bill that would get rid of the Children's Commissioner's role.
Government is pushing ahead despite overwhelming majority against the Bill.
It aims to strengthen oversight of Oranga Tamariki and create a Young People's Commission.
Children's Commissioner Frances Eivers told Mike Hosking it won't be as effective, as it means decisions will need to be made by consensus.
She says the Children's Commissioner has the ability to move quickly and assess situations, and act fast on behalf of children.
