Wellington Council has voted today to cut speed limits down to 30 kilometres an hour on 80 percent of the roads.
Wellington City Councillor Iona Pannett, who was directly involved in today's vote, is here with us now to explain what this will do for Wellington.
"We'll look at it in a bit more detail, the economic impacts. But it's 8 million dollars to save some lives and stop some injuries and to make the city more dynamic and have better amenity."
