Tourism Minister Peeni Henare has revealed a new roadmap to strengthen the tourism workforce.

This plan includes a voluntary Tourism and Hospitality Accord, allowing companies to set the bar for employment and on-the-job training.

The tourism and hospitality sector has reported high rates of harassment and bullying and low pay.

AUT senior lecturer in hospitality David Williamson says this accord will reward quality employers who value their staff and support businesses who do the right thing.
