Several Democratic leaders certainly think so, with Former White House and Pentagon official Douglas MacKinnon saying she has the 'it' factor to succeed in the polls.

US correspondent Dan Mitchinson says Michelle Obama doesn't have much of a track record as a politician and people could project their ideas onto her with limited evidence.
