Donald Trump has been indicted on four counts in the investigation into the interference of the 2020 US election.
The former President is scheduled to appear in a Washington DC courthouse on charges of conspiracy to defraud the US, obstruct an official proceeding, and infringe citizen's rights.
Former adviser to George W Bush, Scott Jennings, says Trump will still be able to run for President, but these indictments put his campaign in 'uncharted waters.
"If this doesn't go to trial and the charges are still pending, if he were to get re-elected President, he could simply order the Justice Department to drop the cases. In some ways, winning the election is his best legal strategy."
