The Māori Party is welcoming TVNZ's decision to expand its multi-party election debate.
It's now including the Māori Party and the Advance New Zealand Party, as both parties had MPs in either of the past two election terms.
It previously limited the debate to those over the three percent polling threshold or with a leader in Parliament.
Māori Party co-leader John Tamihere had challenged the previous criteria - and says TVNZ has made the right call.
While the Māori Party's inclusion has been welcome, the inclusion of Advance New Zealand has sparked criticism. 
The party, which is a team-up between former National MP Jami-Lee Ross and Billy Te Kahika's New Zealand Public Party, has become known for conspiracy theories over Covid-19 and 5G.
