The Maori Council are distancing themselves from Matthew Tukaki.
They say that back in 2019 and 2020, some of their members expressed their concern with the way that he represented the organisation.
It comes after 1 News says that his CV wasn't checked before he was appointed to a key Government role with Oranga Tamariki.
Maori Council National Secretary Peter Fraser joined Heather du Plessis-Allan.
