Because I said, Buffalo wild wings twenty bucks all you

Maybe twenty five bone in wings and you're like, You'll

(01:31):
be like a decent deal. He said, there was a
promotion back in the day all you could eat Chick
fil A chicken nuggets.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
For thirteen bucks with or without Chick fil A sauce.
That's dangerous. I feel like you could house like thirty
of those these thirty nuggies.

So thanks again at Covino and Riches, where you can
find all of our videos everything, and stick around this
hour because we got midwek major. We do it every
midweek every Wednesday, the top stories in the world of
sports and pop culture. Dan Bayer and Danny g got
the stories for you. But speaking of Dan Byer, he
had the scoop about the NBA on NBC the return. Currently,

(02:24):
NBC is closing in on a two point six billion
a year deal to get the NBA, which means that
the twenty twenty five season will be the last season
for Inside the NBA on TNT Charles Barkley, Shake O'Neil,
Kenny Smith, Ernie Johnson, and the side story here is that, well, first.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Of all, I find that really hard to believe. Like really,
that's like must watch TV.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
It's like a staple that seems impossible when a new
network or a previous network that had once had a
sport gets it back or gets the rights of the
first time they want to make a splash. If you
watched the documentary about how when Fox got football, they
went above and beyond to be like, we need John

(03:10):
Madden at Pat Summer all.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
We need them to.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Have legitimacy, to have any type of hype and you know,
make this feel like it's a real thing.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
We need the best.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
It's kind of like, yeah, I mean that's a great example,
but there's certain things that go hand in hand. Your
peanut butter and jelly ham with the burger you need
inside the NBA, which your NBA. You know, when Boxing
made its transitions, it's like UFC without Joe Rogan or
something like that. It's like you need that to legitimize

(03:42):
the game in a big fight. For a long time,
if Michael Buffer wasn't announcing it, it didn't feel as big.
There's certain things that you need to make it feel
like an event, to make it feel official, to make
it feel real. And without those dudes, yeah, I don't
feel like it's the same. Are there any other examples

(04:03):
that come to mind?

Speaker 3 (04:04):
You need you need the consistency, Yeah, you need the credibility,
and you got to make the transition sort of seamless, right,
And they don't want people to hate the new change. No,
And if NBC is gonna reattain years later MBA rights,
why would you not say perfect? Charles shack Ernie, I mean, Kenny, it's.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
The crew think a good example for us where we
live in southern California, And it's iHeart related. Back in
the day when they when they bought Real ninety two
point three, that's what they renamed it, LA's New Home
for hip Hop. They had to get something huge a
staple to get the Power one oh six listeners. So
they stole Big Boy in the Morning away perfect suddenly, yeah, suddenly,

(04:51):
and everyone in LA was like, what, He's on a
different radio station. There was all this legal stuff involved,
and to this day now he's led the charge for
the real ninety two point three and Power one of
six has never been the same.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
You need that familiarity, you need that comfort, you need
those personalities.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Yeah, we all grew up listening to him every morning,
and suddenly the news station had him.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Oh yeah, he's the legend in the game. And recently
we were wondering about the same sort of thing. Rich
Showtime Show Boxing lost its contract. They were not hosting
boxing anymore. We're like, well, what about Brian Custer and
that whole crew and all those guys. Where are they
going to go? And they went right to Amazon Prime,

(05:31):
So PBC on Prime just to keep it seamless. If
they don't get inside the NBA on NBC, it's a fail.
That's just how I see. It's a major fail. I'll
give you the analogy football. When ESPN said we want
to make a big move. We want to take Monday
night football back to its height, they went and got

(05:52):
Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
They said, you know what, we need this, you need it.
What gets criticized the most Apple TV's coverage of baseball
because they just put a bunch of randos on and
you know, God bless them.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
They're trying their best.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
But I could tell you friends of mine that watched
Apple TV baseball all talk about how unqualified and unfamiliar
with the product and the announcers are trash.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
I mean some they might be great.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
It's just people want their guys what they're familiar with,
what they're comfortable with, and that's why. And when you
think of NBA and you think of your guys, you
think of CB Shaq, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson. They
do such a great job. The chemistry is just next level.
So again NBC closing in on the deal, which means
inside the NBA's last season, his next season on TNT.

(06:44):
But there's a two part Ernie Johnson's sort of story.
He's saying that his loyalty is with TNT to do what.
I don't know with Turner Broadcasting.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Maybe he has a deal that maybe when he first
signed it, he was like, you took a chance on me,
and I'm forever loyal.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
But I don't know, man, you need that? So I
mean I think he or Kenny, not that they're.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Disposable by any means, but I think though you gotta
make sure Shaq and Charles Barkley are on that need
the whole squad.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Are Yeah, squad, you guys.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
Just reading through the comments underneath these stories, the articles
written about this the past couple of days, the viewers
seem to think that Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley are
the big two, that.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
John's the glue when you say yeah Blue, Charles barks
They're the personality. They're the stars of it, the stars.
I get it, But I still think you need all
of them to complete the chemistry. You know, I really do.
I think that's what makes it great. You take Kenny
Smith out, it's not the same. I want to see
his knock kneed posture up there on stage. I need

(07:50):
that now. The two part question is if Ernie Johnson
holds out or says his loyalties with TNT. Yeah, I
commend his loyalty there, but is he the Olsen Twins
on the reboot?

Speaker 5 (08:03):
Is?

Speaker 1 (08:03):
What is what Danny g said.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
There's always one person on the Yeah, there's always one
person on the reboot that doesn't want to come back,
be part of the tour or Fuller House. As as
corny as Fuller House was the fact that Michelle Tanner,
the youngest played by the Olsen Twins, was like, yeah,
I'm not in come on.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
And everybody has the reasons. I get that that's not
the speculation, but when someone is not a part of it, yeah,
it could go on, but it's not the same, right,
So is Ernie Johnson pulling an awsome Twins as far
as the reboot quote unquote reboot? And does everybody have
a price? As the great Ted Dibiassi taught us when
we kids, So I think.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Of NBC, he says, Listen, we want this seamless because
there's two things that play here. People love that pre
and post game show Shaq Kenny Ernie Barkley, like.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
You say, dude, that's the most viral stuff.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Of course, we see the highlights, but it's like Saturday
Night Live or any night talk show. You don't really
watch all of that, but you see all the highlights
on social media the next day, These little highlights from
that show Live on social media. It's such a staple
of your daily sports life.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
In the sports entertainment world which we work in, they're
constantly throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. Oh,
get rid of RG three, put in Jason Kelcey, get
rid of this person, put in that guy. Hey, we're
gonna get rid of Phil Simms and Boomer siasin and
throw in Matt Ryan.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
They're they're always trying to see we get lightning in
a bottle.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
So many egos, so many personalities. Sometimes people just don't
gel chemistry.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
And when you got the chemistry they have, you got
to keep it the guy the show.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
That's why you put it on. Listen.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
They tried Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football, and so
they tried all types of things. So when you see,
you know who does this other sports radio networks they
take two hosts that have never met each other and
like you're doing a show together, it's always awful.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
You.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
It takes real lightning in a bottle and real chemistry,
and they got it.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
It takes the chemistry. It takes time too to develop
that rhythm. They have all that so whatever they whoever
they put in there too is doomed to fail because
people are gonna want what they want, and that's what
we want as fans.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
It doesn't mean other people can't do it, but it's
not gonna be the same.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
It's funny because this conversation you guys are having is
exactly what they were talking about when the Lakers and
the Nuggets were playing against each other. Because you had
the Nuggets, who had this great chemistry, had been together
for a while, had already gelled obviously, and you have
this Laker team that had just kind of been pieced
together during the off season, you know, except for Ad
and Lebron playing together for a few Yeah, and it

(10:42):
takes time for every team that goes deep. You look
at how the first thing you look at, how long
have these guys played together?

Speaker 3 (10:48):
You know, I used to think it was bs, but
now I've changed my mind. You know how every time
like a championship caliber team talks about the camaraderie in
the locker room in the clubhouse and how it's different.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
It's a real thing, right, One person could change everything.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
You can't fake the funk on chemistry and camaraderie. So
I'm just hoping they keep it. I'm just hoping they
keep this crew together. NBC has the money if they're
going to be paying billions for the NBA.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Ny Johnson to uh to continue on.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
I'm just gonna ask you, guys, because I looked up
his annual salary, what do you think Turner pays him?

Speaker 7 (11:22):
Right?

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Eight mil?

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Hey Cove, I was gonna say, like five six Buyer,
how much you think Turner pays four? I was going
to say four. Sam one dollar for an hour, said
don't do that. Least his salaries are reported five million
dollars annually.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
It's like it's like when they were revamping Wheel of
Fortune when Pat say Jack said, I'm out put Secrest
in there because he's great at what he does. But
they needed to keep Vana white. You had to do
everything you could to keep Vana white some freaking Wheel
of Fortune, some sense of familiarity. They had a double
her salary, and you know, God bless her.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
So she's part of the brand at that point. And
I feel like all of these dudes are part of
that brand. We don't need anybody, but we're saying, if
you want a seamless transition, you want to make it
something that people are excited about. You pay Ernie Johnson
just to forget about loyalty here and give him an
offer he can't refuse.

Speaker 8 (12:21):
Not to branch off. But you mentioned will of Fortune,
and honestly, Jeopardy probably had the biggest dilemma when Alex
Trebek ended up passing away a huge dilemma how do
you do it? And you know what they tried to do,
remember celebrity host after celebrity host, and then they realized
something that the real prize is the contestants. Like, so,

(12:41):
now how many Jeopardy celebrity contestants are there? There's all
these different tournaments and bringing back these old faces. It's
not as much about Alex Trebek now not being there.
And Ken Jennings has done a great job as the host,
but again he was a former competitor. So they've switched
the focus on why you should be drawn into Jeopardy
outside of the game. And I'm wondering, instead of just

(13:04):
copying inside the NBA and trying to continue it, are
they going to have to figure out a different way
to how do we reel people in? Because you know,
in Jeopardy's way it actually has worked.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
I never thought about how, you know, how NFL will
be like former players now an atalyst. You're right, Jeopardy
has former players now running it.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Yes, I know the secret. Damn bire what's that hot
chicks trampolines with little people. Yeah, every is not getting.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
The every every man Garcia with the weather for no
reason every man show tactic from my twenty sort net
Garcia You Nette Garcia with the weather in the middle
of our basketball update. Man, So that's a big deal, though,
NBA back on NBC and Rich, is that the return

(13:58):
of John Tesh?

Speaker 1 (13:59):
You know it.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
It's the best theme of all sports and sports history,
the NBA on NBC theme. It makes you think of, honestly,
our childhood and the nineties and Jordan and Barkley and
Pip and and Malone and Ewing and such a big
part of the basketball you grew up loving.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
By basketball.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Basketball gave me the basketball going on dunk it.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
I was saying, I know for a fact there's a
lot of people listening to Fox Sports Radio right now
that have never heard this story. So the composer of
that famous NBA on NBC theme is John Tesh.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Not everybody knows who John Tesh is, though, I mean
most people the National radio show.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
John Tesh radio broadcaster, Entertainment Tonight, composer, composer, but he
was one of those hosts that we saw.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Yeah, he Lady Share Life coach.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
He came up with the theme, but there's a whole
story behind it.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Because when he performs in concert, which by the way,
not on my agenda, Danny, who do you want to
see the summer again?

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Ohesh? John Tesh?

Speaker 3 (15:12):
No, look combs John Tesh not on the radar, but yeah,
John Tesh performs and people do go see him.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
And the crazy part is.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
He tells the story about how he came up with
the NBA on NBC theme. It's a quick, thirty second story,
but it's really cool if you do love that old theme.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
I was trying to write a sports theme and I
did not have a piano in the hotel where I
was staying. So I did probably what many of you
have done faced with a similar situation. I called my
answering machine at home and I left a message for myself.
Although that sounds goofy, what happened was that theme that
I sang into the machine is the theme that they
play every time the Chicago Bulls crush another basketball team.

(15:51):
Special bonus for you, folks. I have brought the original
Answering Machine tape with me so I can play it
for you. I know you were dying to hear it,
but it has to be played on the original Answering Machine.
So here now the original demo tape for for pro basketball. Hi,
this is a message for me about the NBA theme.
Here's an idea.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
It goes like this, How cool is that?

Speaker 1 (16:21):
That's ridiculous? Like I imagine.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
You have one of those old answer machines, the answer machine.
We'd be like, all right, that's so funny, dude. Yeah
that is great. Honestly, I love that clip. So hey,
when it comes to familiarity, yeah, you'll get that. I
would imagine you get that again, right, I want to
hear that.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Of course. You know what the funniest part of that
whole thing is how bow Wait Waite. He's doing his
own best rockapella. Rich.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
Is NBC going to have to buy the rights to
the music back? Because Fox Sports famously bought that a few.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Years You would have to know, Oh, yeah, our company
is about to get rich. That's how you're gonna get
your holiday bonus.

Speaker 8 (17:01):
Dandy there is an update on that and and and
he's right because there was some swap of you know,
super Bowls and stuff like that, and it became became
a thing of Fox. But Tesh did say recently, I
think on the Levatard Show, that he has spoken with
NBC and they're going in to re record the song,
which then would be uh.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
A changing it's tess.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
He modernizes it, puts a little extra base into it.

Speaker 5 (17:36):
You know.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
The craziest part is if that's not John Tesh singing
the most memorable sports theme, it really just sounds like
something you would leave yourself like drunk, have a good idea.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Sounds like Jack Black Riffin or something.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Yeah, right, hilarious. Man.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
So that's the backstory there, and that's part of the
familiarity we're talking about. It's back or you could sit
please say, hey man, it's evolution.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
Baby. Everybody hates change. But then we'd adjust.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
They'll find four other people and we move on and
they find greatness somewhere else. You know, it could be
as simple as that and save the millions of dollars. Yo,
if Ernie Johnson's making five million, now, what's he gonna
want to leave is it worth paying.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
All those dudes. I think so. No, because I think
people are replaceable.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
I really do. People are replaceable. I think there's some
shows though that you know, it just might take a minute. Yeah,
And I think there's some shows that are an exception
of that. This is one of them.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Yeah, let me give you one last dumb analogy and
we'll move on. It took American Idol, which I know,
I'm like the only guy still talking about the show.
But it's great, Danny, you and Bucky Covington are still talking.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
That's like twenty years. We got to talk about Survivor
in that next Yeah, but I'm greed. U finale tonight.
By the way, Dan and Ryan version here in the
back of the only guy's watched ye Taylor Hicks.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
Which I swear to God, the season finale. He's been
dragging for two weeks. And that's the thing. We can't.
We try to watch it, my wife and I and
we're just not We'll watch like one round from each
singer in the mode for Sani he turned the channel.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Now.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
The American Idol finale was this past week, and I
really enjoyed the season. But you know what, I think
it took them like ten years to realize because they
had Simon, Randy mad Dog Jackson and Paul Abdul. They
had a bunch of nonsense. And then they finally found
Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryant, which worked. But
it just shows you that they could have j Lo
or Steven Tyler whoever in there, and he can't just

(19:33):
find chemistry.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
Believe it or not.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
It took them a good decade plus to find three
new people that could mess.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
And we learned as sports like John Teach, match like
John Tesh, but we learned that at sports fans a
long time ago, you can't buy championships, you can't buy chemistry,
and we're seeing it here. I'd love to see inside
the NBA on NBC. We'll see, I guess we'll find out.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
We'll coming up next Midweek Major we break down the
biggest stories in the world of sports and entertainment, and
Dan Buyer's got his update all coming up right here
Fox Sports Radio with Covino and Rich.

you see that? Click Katie? It was Adams. Oh yeah,
it was k Adams. K Adams.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
That's a good idea. We're going to do that to
see who gets to have the first tape.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Have one two three shoot man all one two three, shoot.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
Three shoot a. Rich goes first. Rich covered a rock
with a paper there.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
Now we are going to go to the one filling
in for the famous guy from New Jersey. Ladies and gentlemen,
the most famous person from Merle, Wisconsin, besides basketball player
Paul jessperson Dan Bayer.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Yeah, yes, would we toughed the top Paul.

Speaker 8 (24:15):
He made it into one shining moment with his half
court shot for Northern Iowa thiks. By the way, Dan
found a loophole on Wikipedia. I do have a Wikipedia page,
but I am not listed on the notable people from
my hometown. So there's like this weird loophole.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
So well, you know what, that's more than I got dB.
I had both and he took me off a both.
Really yeah, I had a weekip I call him Wikipedia
or wacky. Maybe that's why they took you off because
they and they removed me and he took me as
an off as a notable resident.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Ah, that's Weak's week. So check this out.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
So I typed in the most famous people from Meryll, Wisconsin,
and Buyer's name was the first one listed. But it's
not on the front page of the actual Meryl Wikipedia page.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
That is also weak. That is also weak. How are
we all right. Hopefully somebody can help us out with this.
But guys, it's gonna go where they hit a statue
of you out of cheese. It melts every summer. Yeah,
and then they just erected again in January. All right.

Speaker 8 (25:12):
The NFL Network's Bridget Condat attend to the OTAs that
the Chargers practice facility and guys notice some changes. One
of the biggest changes is that there's no music being
played while players are out on the field. Where it
is is that Jim Harbaugh wants complete focus in camp. Guys,
no music for the Chargers players mid week or major.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
I think this is week, and I'll tell you why.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
We go to someone's house for dinner or a party
if there's no music, I feel like there's a dead vibe.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
It feels awkward and weird, uncomfortable.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
My daughter's birthday party was last week, and I'm like,
I'm telling Alexa to play all types of kids music.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
It makes me uncomfortable. However, I work out without headphones.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
I know that might be weird o behavior, but I
like to focus in on working out, so I get
what he's doing. I just hope he doesn't upset any
type of culture in the clubhouse.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
I think it's the weakest. I agree with Rich. There's
no music. It's just a gathering.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
It's not a part.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
Even if you're a workout who works out with no music, weirdo.
Even if you're in your car and you need to
focus on, like, oh, why am I making a turn?
What is our instinct always to turn down the radio
for what reason?

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Yeahs doing that? Now it's this focus issue.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Yeah, you're building chemistry, you're building camaraderie, You're getting people
in his own music sets the tone, sets the mood.
It can only hands the performance. In my opinion, you're
trying to get aggressive. The right music works wonders. I
did hear that they compared Hardbaugh to Will Ferrell, though
I saw a press conference saying that like his delivery
is very will Farrell, but no music, no fun.

Speaker 8 (26:44):
Okay, guys, the company Open Ai could face legal consequences
for making a chat GPT voice that sounds just like
Scarlett Johansson. Now, what has her really upset is that
the company previously approached her to be the voice, and
then she turned them down. Fellas a broke Scarlett Johanson
voice in a courtroom soon mid week or major.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
I think this is weak because I don't care so much.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
But all those people that fought for their rights when
there was the actor strike and the average person was like,
who cares, That's what a lot of the actors were fighting. Hey,
Scarletrahanser cold you use your voice? No, all right, they
we'll make up a fake one sot to wrong and
one of the few parts of AI that's very scary.
We talked about it off the air yesterday, how we're
getting closer to an election. You know, our parents are
going to be tricked by fake Biden and fake Trump.

(27:32):
I think it's major because of that reason. You know,
there's so many weird stories surrounding this. I saw a
clip today. This is true, he said, Yo, AI's next level.
It was Mike Tyson at a press conference speaking in Spanish.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
And I saw that believed it.

Speaker 9 (27:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
A second was a wait, no way, and it was
AI and it was so dead on and so accurate.
And I think, if you're going to do those things,
if you do have to compensate these people, you have
to be clear on it.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
And yeah, I think it's a major story.

Speaker 8 (28:03):
Jalen Hurts, quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles purchased a two
hundred and fifteen thousand dollars home in Houston for himself
and his family.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
He lives with his parents in the off season.

Speaker 8 (28:12):
Plus, Jalen also rents an apartment in Philly, just a
regular one during the regular season. Guys, Jalen hurts not
spending much of his fortune. Is this story midweek or major?

Speaker 3 (28:22):
I think it's in a mid because some players have
done this before. But listen, what's better that or being
the guy that is bankrupt like Antonio Brown?

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Right now?

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Right, You've seen stories of athletes like Gronk who may
appear to be dummies. But Gronk apparently, from what I understand,
only spent his endorsement money and would always bank his
salary to set himself up later in life. And listen,
not everyone needs a multimillion.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
Dollar mansion now. But you know what, Jalen hurts, splurge
a little bit, my friend, enjoy life. Enjoy.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
I heard that polyamory is on the rise, not because
people want to open up their relationships, just because it
needs to incomes to survive in the household nowadays. As
the meme says, I think this is responsible. I think
it's major. He's a great role model. You know, it's
refreshing how much how many times you hear an irresponsible

(29:14):
story and how many times you roll your eyes that
the way people are living beyond their means and for
a guy that has the money to actually be living humble,
it's nice and refreshing to see.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
But based on what Dan said, we're all living in
more expensive houses than Jalen hurts.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
That doesn't seem right. Yes, correct, it doesn't seem right.
But he doesn't need it, you know, maybe he's he's
a simple man, like simple Jack.

Speaker 8 (29:35):
Well, my Instagram reels show me that there's great houses
for six hundred thousand dollars all around Texas, So I
don't know that's in my algorithm right now, all of
our algorithm.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
A couple of more for you, guys.

Speaker 8 (29:45):
A town in Japan has constructed a black fence along
the street that will actually prohibit tourists from taking pictures
of Mount Fuji. Residents there are fed up with tourists
always taking pictures in the spot because it looks like
Mount Fuji is emerging from.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
A convenience store.

Speaker 8 (30:01):
So guys, keeping tourists away from your town mid week
or major, so a little this is yeah, this is
a Dan Buyer special.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
You know that's a good one, Dan, Because I used
to have the mindset when I lived in New York.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
I was like, get everyone out of here, right. And
now I go back to New.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
York as a visitor and I look around, I'm like, hey,
look at all these people.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
Enjoying New York City.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
I used to be impatient, like get out of my way, listen,
embrace tourism. They're putting money into your town and community.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
I completely agree with Rich.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Actually, it's it's a story that I would have felt
different about years ago, like get out of my way. Yeah,
and now I embrace it like Rich. And I will
say this, when I was in Japan, it's something you want.
It's so majestic, that's the thing. They take it for granted, right,
like it's Mount Fuji whatever. When you see that, it's
so awesome, you can't help. I was on a bullet

(30:51):
train or something, and I'm like, I got to get
a picture of this. It's incredible. So to deprive somebody
of that moment, I think is unfortunate. You travel all
that way to some cool things you want, You want
to capture it.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
I traveled to see a cheese statue of Dan Bayo
once and it had melted.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Yeah, so they can't use their fujifilm is what you're saying. Yeah, good,
I mean I did my best mister Fuji in front
of it all right last one in my attempt to
fill in for the one and only Spotty. I think
he'd been great. Dan, you might have the full time job.
Don't tell uspot gone.

Speaker 8 (31:21):
Aiden O'Connell of the Danny's Las Vegas Raiders is giving
up the number four jersey.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Do you hear about this? He's gonna be wearing number.

Speaker 8 (31:30):
Twelve from now on, telling Max Crosby's podcast that he
felt bad that when he was a rookie that he
actually took Derek Carr's number four. But he was a rookie,
so he couldn't really say what number he was gonna wear,
So he just took the four war at last season,
now switching to twelve, but the Raiders then immediately handed
it off to wide.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Receiver Jalen Geiton.

Speaker 8 (31:51):
Guys, the Raiders handling of Derek Carr's number four jersey
midweek or major.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
It's so weak, it's so immature like Derek Carr.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Derek Carr is sort of like one of those like
nice guys that is easy to just kick while he's
down a little bit. I mean, Danny G you're Raiders fan,
like you have bad feelings towards Derek Carr.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
No, not bad feelings at all.

Speaker 4 (32:11):
And I would say they probably should have just let
that jersey sit on the shelf at least for like
three season.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Yeah, there's like an unspoken rule of if the guy leaves,
even if it's not on the best terms, if he
was a good player, like a star enough player, you
let it sit for a couple of years.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
I remember the Mets when I was a kid, sixteen
is my number? Not gooding. I remember they gave it
to some bum pretty quickly and I was like, what
are you doing?

Speaker 7 (32:35):
It?

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Just it runs me the wrong.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
When that part of the story is major, you know,
it means a lot people identify with the number.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
I think the way people handle things and handle these
situations is important and he should have let it breathe.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
So yeah, major story sounds silly, but it's major. Thank you,
d B.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Thanks guys anderbyer manak Er major.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Huh, you know, a. Rod was really butt hurt about
them not retire his number. That was a big story
a while ago.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
No, what I gotta tell I gotta find that number
one we get ready for Dan Buyer's update. I got
to tell you who number sixteen was on the Mets
because it was one of those where you'd be like, really,
that's what they did, and it hurt my feelings when
I was a little boy.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
But yeah, here we go, Dwight good in sixteen.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
They gave it to like Derek Bell Anddeo Nomo and
then dougman Kaevich And I'm like, that's Dwight Gooden's.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Number, which since then has been retired recently. Yes, so
you like think of that move, how irresponsible that was.
That's true what happens when you have just a bad
handling of that situation.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Yeah, that's always a weird one. Yeah, all right, d me,
what's going on? Guys?

Speaker 8 (33:42):
Mavericks and Timberwolves less than two hours away eight thirty
Eastern time tonight from Minneapolis in their Game one in
the West Finals. WNBA Action Tonight is the Fever taking
on the Storm, and Caitlin Clark is expected to play
despite an ankle injury. Sports Business Journal says the NBA
is finalizing contracts with Disney, Amazon, and NBC on a
media rights deal that would have the games no longer

(34:02):
with TNT. That deal would go into effect in the
twenty twenty five twenty twenty six season. TNT, by the way,
getting into the college football game. They've struck a sub
licensing deal with ESPN to televise two first round games
of the College Football Playoff and also two quarterfinal games
from twenty twenty six through twenty twenty eight. That would
be two games in each of those three seasons. NFL

(34:24):
Commissioner Roger Goodell saying today that the league is still
considering an eighteen game regular season schedule, but more of
a long term view. He says that they would take
away a preseason game to accommodate it, but would also
have to make sure that it's good for the league
and talk with the NFL Players Association about it is.
They would obviously have a say in this. Pittsburgh's going
to host the twenty twenty six NFL Draft. It's in

(34:45):
Green Bay next year. Ricky Stenhaus Junior finds seventy five
grand by NASCAR for punching Kyle Busch last weekend. That's
the largest fine for fighting in NASCAR history. Day Baseball
twins over the Nats three to two, Guardians top the
Mets six three, Royals six straight, beating the Tigers eight three,
Angels over the Astros two to one, and the Cardinals
complete a sweep of the Orioles, winning.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Five to four. And Louisville Police will hold a.

Speaker 8 (35:08):
News conference tomorrow at eleven thirty Eastern time to provide
an update on their investigation into the arrest of Scotti
Scheffler at last week's PGA Championship. They also say all
video footage of the events will be released tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Back to you, Thank you, Dan.

Speaker 6 (35:22):
Dan.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
By the way, Rich Alex Rodriguez War number thirteen for
the Yankees from two thousand and four to twenty sixteen, and.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
They gave it to Joey Gala.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Yeah see like those are like, you know, I get
a Rod had his issues in New York, but still
here's a disrespected there's something way led at rest. And
by the way, Dan, given the location of the upcoming drafts,
that's gonna be really huge. And as if the NFL
is not big enough, it was great to see that
huge crowd in Detroit, great Sportstown.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
The next two green Bay and Pittsburgh. Pretty sweet weather cooperates.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
Yeah, weather Weather, it could be a rub, but we'll
say all right, thank you, Dan Bayer, we got more
Cavino and Rich and speaking of the NFL, I thought
about Harrison Butker before we get out of here, So
Hank ty More seeing our next.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
All right, let's get into it. Covino and Rich wrapping up,
getting late early live from the tyrack dot com studio.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
Ready for a new job.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Let express Employment Professionals help expresses hiring for jobs in
a variety of industries and job seekers never pay a
fee at express expresspros dot com. Find your location that's

so if you can't make it there, definitely tune in
live from Tempe, Arizona Graduate Hotels. Hope to see you there.
This is your invite. Let's bring a lot of people

(36:41):
to Arizona. We're like a traveling circus. And by the way,
before we took about Harrison Butker and Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
Oh, and how Barkley is in Minnesota for the first
time in twenty years, and Anthony Edwards says, get your
ass here.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
I know there, I know, I I know.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
We don't have a lot of time. But I'm not
one to complain, right, but I go. I used to
ride with the vending machine repair man. My dad had
a vending company my whole life. And my dad would
get so much flack or slack flack, grief grief slacks
the opposite if he sent or if he he.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
I just feel bad about this. I just bought peanuts
from the vending machine. That's trail mix. These are over
a year old. What Tomino goes? These tastes funny? Expiration
twenty twenty three five.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
Five for selecting that out of the machine. First of all,
these expired over a year ago. Who do want to
make a complaint to this is ridiculous?

Speaker 1 (37:41):
Usually the turnover in those machines. The machine we have
is pretty good over a year. I buy these all
the time, But I don't know. Man Mike, the guy
who runs his place. You know I'm leaving. He's on
his desk. The last person that bought those were Ramos.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
My dad would have lost an account for something like that.
How do they taste though? Did you try them? Like asstriaks.
That's why I looked at the date. That's why I
looked at the date. Man, I'm like five five twenty three.
They're over your stale.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
Anyway, let's take a quick call and then we got
to wrap this up day. What's up? Who's this? Yo?

Speaker 10 (38:17):
Nick?

Speaker 6 (38:17):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (38:17):
Nick, can't worry, Buddy good.

Speaker 10 (38:20):
If you guys, if there's an inside the NBA of radio,
you guys.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Are thank you, brother, appreciate that, man, thank you, I
thank you, NBA and.

Speaker 6 (38:29):
T n T.

Speaker 7 (38:30):
If they go to NBC, they have to bring Ernie
Johnson because he's kind of a glue.

Speaker 8 (38:34):
But NBA on NBC is nothing without the John Cash song.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
If they could combine the John tesh rework theme, then
the viewers win and keep the inside the NBA team
and bring him to NBC.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Win. Win, Yeah, Ernie, Ernie, make it happen, Make it happen.
All right now.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
I wanted to bring up Paris and Bucker for a
second because you want to make everybody angry or to
get everyone fired up, because here's the here's the problem.
First of all, listen to Patrick Mahomes talking about his
teammate Harrison Bucker.

Speaker 10 (39:05):
I'm no Harrison. I've known him for seven years. I
judge him by the character that he shows every single day,
and that's a good person. When you're in the locker room,
there's a lot of people from a lot of different
areas of life, and they have a lot of different
views on everything, and we're not always going to agree.
And there's certain things that he said that I don't
necessarily agree with, but I understand the person that he
is and he's trying to do whatever he can to
lead people in the right direction, and that might not

(39:27):
be the same values as I have. But at the
same time, I'm going to judge him by the character
that he shows every single day. That's a great person.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
And h.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
And I don't and can I just see one more time?
I don't agree with everything he said, and he's peanuts
are terrible? What about your dad, Bud Patrick?

Speaker 2 (39:44):
People who talk about that, Yeah, I know that is
in the news, but can I just say first and
first mostly yet well said and couldn't have come from
a more important, impactful player. Patrick Mahomes, leader of the team.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Yeah, sticking up for his guy and the owner, the
owner's daughter even coming and just to remind her to
everyone before Trump and Biden and Hillary Clinton and all
the people that have divided our country, all the political
divide where every random uncle you have is far right
or far left. Before this place was all divided, remember
the days of I don't agree with your opinions, but

(40:19):
we could still be pals. Unless someone's saying completely racist,
terrible sexist stuff. If someone just has ideological differences, I
can't understand how you won't how close are actually Because
he said it best, You're in a locker room full
of great athletes with great discipline, who won the Life
lottery and are from.

Speaker 2 (40:39):
All different walks of life. You expect all these people
from all over the country to have the same opinions
about everything. You are stupid, I mean, that's insane. And
to think that these elections are always pretty close, to
think that your opinions are different than mine, well, I
can't handle that.

Speaker 6 (40:59):
You.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
We got to cancel you. It's absurd, it's crazy. We
have to learn to work together regardless of the less.

Speaker 3 (41:06):
Someone unless someone like I said, is saying some terribly abusive, divisive,
racist type of stuff, that's you know, unforgivable.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
Just because someone has different values morals that you do.
You don't have to agree with it. You could co exist, dude.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
I have plenty of friends that are wackos on both
sides of the political aisle. I have friends that are
super liberals. I have friends that are super conservatives. And
you hear what I said. They're friends because you could
be friends with someone if you disagree with them. And
I love that, mahomes like you said. The leader of
the team went to bat for Butker and said, this
guy has beliefs that I don't necessarily agree with.

Speaker 1 (41:47):
But guess what, he's my teammate who were allowed to
have different points of.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
More powerful coming from the quarterback than anybody else. Let's
let's go back, you know, let's go back to that ideologies.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
A lot of things we've made steps in the right direction,
wrong direction, not tolerating people with differences.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
All right, we'll see you guys tomorrow. Until then, Ariba
de baby, do you in the Promised Land? Goodbye guys.
