(00:23):
I saw a meme Rich, and that's where I get
most of my research, prep and jokes and my news
from memes in TikTok videos. But it's so true. It says, Look,
I don't know how we got here, but in the
year twenty twenty four, the two most wholesome people on
TV are Snoop Dogg in Flavor f Life. Now, yeah,
(00:44):
oh boy, if you watch the Olympics, you've seen a
lot of these two characters, and we referenced it this week. Boy. Now,
if we told you that in ninety two, would you
have believed it? Yeah, let's rewind to when we were
little boys and you were watching the ninety two Olympics
on your mom and dad's terribly patterned eighties couch. They
still hadn't got rid of. Oh yeah, we all had
(01:05):
the same weak ass couch shell flave signed what a
five year sponsorship deal to elevate the visibility of the
was a US water polo team, women's water polo team.
And he's there in the water with his shower cap on,
playing water polo. You're seeing him all over the Olympics.
(01:25):
You're seeing Snoop Dogg with the torch wholesome. It doesn't
have a swimmer, a swim cap on or a shower
cap those are different things. I think he's were a shower.
I don't know it's a Viking helmet. I don't know what
he's wearing. But you're seeing these two guys, and these
are guys we grew up with that epitomized nineties rap
like they were hard to us growing up. Murder was
(01:46):
the case that they gave him. You could tow ice Cube.
Cube has no affiliation to the Olympics that I know,
but you could throw him in the conversation because he
makes all these family friendly movies. Now throw Cuban there
to create the trifecta of Snoop Flave and ice Cube
tell nineties me that they're the most wholesome people. Ice
(02:07):
Cube in a rowboat in a family movie or not
in a car on a road trip ice Cube with
a life preserver on in a raft in a family movie.
We've seen the meme, so we don't know how he
got here or how it happened, but you could say
that these guys have pulled a one eighty. You just say, hey,
they got older and that's it. Like we've seen the wholesome,
(02:31):
softer side of these guys. They know no longer had
to put that front up or hey, when you're that successful,
what are you mad about? You're not angry anymore making
angry hip hop records? Who else comes to mind as
far as pulling the one eighty, Like that's a pretty
good and significant one eighty. Are there athletes that maybe
pulled a one eighty and maybe you had to change
(02:52):
your heart? Like, yeah, I used to hate that guy,
and man, he really turned it around.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
How about the rapper that Rich mistakenly called ice Cube
Iced Tea another one? Even though he was an undercover
cop in the movie Knew Jack City. I never thought
i'd see the day where he was on a weekly
CSI TV show.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
He's always pulling his daughter and you know, he's like
super dad now and not saying they were ever bad
guys but their image was not what it is now, right,
So who comes to mind the world of sports? Just
in life in general? Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox,
I will say that a guy that stops by our
show every Tuesday, Mike Tyson, has to be one of
(03:32):
those guys. He went from ferocious eat your children. You know,
there's no one like him telling people to f off
on live TV, to one of these crazy deep thinkers
who is so in touch and in tune with himself,
like Mike Tyson. I don't know if you live under
a rock, but he's a really introspective sort of guy,
(03:53):
real sensitive guy, and he really opened up in a
way that you would have never thought he would have
been then, Like this dude was ferocious, iron Mike Tyson invincible.
Now you see how vulnerable he is when you look
at it from that perspective. That's a complete one eighty.
He'll still knock your face off, but he's a very
(04:13):
vulnerable guy where he wasn't in the eighties.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
I was listening to an old fifty cent song the
other day, Wangsta, and he says, I ain't no actor,
Uh you're not well. He wasn't then when he recorded
that song. So he's another guy who went mainstream.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
All right, So other guys who just pulled the one
eighty men or women and let us know what you think.
Who comes to mind? How about a guy we worked
with at Serious ExM. Howard Stern. Dude, Howard Stern. Howard
Stern's did devil could argue he went the wrong direction?
What did pig virus? Say Paul Giamatti at the end
(04:50):
of Private Parts, he's the anti Christ, just keeping a
pig vomit. Yeah, they called the pig virus pig vomit
the movie we did. Yeah both, Oh both in real
life it was pig virus in the movie pig bomb bombit.
Oh really yeah. And you think about how he was perceived, right,
Like you didn't want your kids to listen to him.
He was he was the anti Christ. How it sturns
(05:13):
the anti Christ? Whatever Paul Giamatti says at the end
of the Private Parts, that's how people perceived him. And
you listen to him. Now, I'm not saying he's not
edgy anymore, but he's totally a list. Reinvented himself to
the point where he's no longer throwing bologney at Stripper's
butt cheeks. He's interviewing Gwyneth Paltrow. Yeah, you know what
I mean, he's judging on America's got talent, right and
(05:36):
complete one eighty great answer, super. You know, he's always
been a liberal guy, but he's remember COVID sort of
changed into a hermit. During COVID he was the guy
that was like mas scoup and good vexxed and like
that turned a lot of people off. So yeah, I mean,
Howard Stern, that's a really good one, but the good
are bad. Hey, dude, can you say this about political
figures to not get political? But how many people have
(05:57):
you seen talk smack about somebody?
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Now?
Speaker 1 (05:59):
They indoor? You know what I mean? Like that happens
all the time. Ted Cruiz, No, but what about Donald Trump?
And I say Donald Trump? Because Donald Trump? The left
hates him. He's the Antichrist to a lot of people. Meanwhile,
rappers sang about him, rapped about him. He was until
he became a political figure. All the people that now
(06:19):
dislike Donald Trump used to love Donald Trump. It just
had to be an entertaining figure. I would say they
pulled the one on him, wouldn't you say, Like he's
always been the same to the other side as well,
So I think it's a mutual. But Donald Trump's a
great answer to think about it. It's also a testament
to these people's longevity. You know, they've been around long
enough where you could see the full evolution of where
(06:41):
they were and where they are now. That's really what
it comes down to. I think like they've been around
long enough where we could actually have this perspective and conversation.
I think in the hip hop world there's gonna be
a lot of examples because by definition hip hop and
the game is people were coming up from not much right,
and then when you become rich and famous, like jay
(07:03):
Z is now like a business man. The jay Z
is partner with the NFL. He's a mogul. Jay Z
early on, did you always say, uh Hawaiian Sophie, Dude,
You know, I love this terrible song called Hawaiian Sophie.
I just liked it because it was a fun video
and I would order it on the video Juke Jazz
(07:25):
which Jazz and I remember buying it and on the
back jay Z was his sidekick. Jay Z were in
that Big jay Z was the sidekick to this rapper
named Jazz and to see the evolution of this dude
who went from hypeman, sidekick rapper on Jazz's record to
superstar mogul. Yeah, that is that's a complete turnaround. He
(07:47):
went from a nobody to a really significant somebody. I
don't want to pile on, but when we were younger,
now I know it's one of Danny G's favorites. It
comes went on to become a movie star who didn't
love Will Smith. Now there's a lot of people that
(08:09):
are like, you know, that guy's a bee villain, that
guy slapping you know, his wife tect him the same
way his wife emasculates him. Like Will Smith's reputation has
certainly taken a big turn in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Well, if you want to talk about guys going in
that direction, past couple of days, I've been on you
guys to watch the Pete Rose docu series because he
was so beloved in our country and then his life
took a turn.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Obviously, that's true. That's a good one Pete Rose, because
you know, we were really young. But you know, if
you're a younger person now, you only think of Pete
Rose as man. He was a gambler, cheater instead of
like a joke in a way like there he is
exciting autographs with Caesar's Palace. He was one of the
greatest baseball players of all time. You don't know that
(08:55):
version if you're younger. Now, how did we get here?
That's actually the question. It's a meme that we saw.
It says, Look, I don't know how we got here.
But in the year twenty twenty four, the two most
wholesome people on TV are Snoop Dog and Flavor Flave,
and they've both been very present in Paris at the
Olympics doing their thing. And you would have never thought
(09:18):
that if you took yourself back into the nineties. So
who else comes to mind? I think rich Honestly, one
of the best answers was Howard Stern. I think that's
a really great answer. Doesn't have to be in sports,
It could be in pop culture, being anything. It doesn't
need to be totally shifted who they are. What about
just an evolved different version of them? How about the
(09:38):
guy that you do a show on his channel every Saturday?
Can he knows? On Ozzie's Boneyard on Serious XM. Ozzy
Osbourne went from you know hardcore rock guy. Then he
became like funny older reality guy like Sharon, and now
he's like a likable old guy biting heads off of
bats right, the godfather of metal to be in like
(09:59):
a lovable darkness into this lovable dude that everybody likes.
And that all started with the reality show with the Osbournees,
when you saw an inside look on what his life
was really like as a dad. And that's a that's
a really good one. He reinvented himself. We're not saying
these are bad things, by the way. It just depends
how you look at it. A lot of these times,
(10:20):
it's just the evolution of that person. They turned it
around for good, maybe for bad, It doesn't matter. What
do you think? Let us know At eight seven seven
ninety nine, O Fox, I really enjoy Whoopy Goldberg the actress,
but I'm on the view Whoopy Goldberg, no thanks. I
(10:40):
thought you had an issue with Joy Bahart. I thought
she's just the worst human. I thought she was, but
I never liked her though. You know, Rich has this
really weird crazy hatred for Joy Bayhar. Of most people,
no joy for Bayhart, no joy at all, Like Rich.
You know, happy go lucky, generally nice fella here. Rich
Davis has like a hatred for Joy Bayhart. Fun fact
we share birthday as well.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Rich, like they teach us teach us in first grade.
Hate is a strong.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Word any but he uses that word with her, just
with her though. I don't know why. She just rubs
me a weird way. Everything comes out of her mouth,
seems uninformed and terrible. I don't know what she did
to you, bro, What did she do? Tell us? But
then again, there's a thin line between love and hate.
What if I met her and I was like, I
love her?
Speaker 4 (11:22):
I think Rich just has a problem with people who
continue to share their opinions like NonStop. The more you
get to know about somebody, you might not like what
you're hearing. Like her opinions just more and more about him,
and so you're like, oh, I don't like that.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
What do you got Sam? You said you had one?
I have two? Uh so uh? Marky Mark?
Speaker 4 (11:40):
I know his music career Mark Wahlberg wasn't very long,
but he was sort of like the fitness guy, badass
rapper dude. And then he's turned out really thought it
was a bad ass, tried to portray it That's how
he had some issues.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
To where he got arrested some times for doing some
questionable use some racist line early on, and you know,
he became this wholesome Hollywood sort of guy.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Yeah, really showing a lot of his talents on the
acting side. And then also the Rock. I mean, I
know the guys who have gone from pro wrestling into acting,
like he's his image is definitely softened. He's got a
broader range of things he can do. He was sort
of a little bit of a villain in the ring,
but like also kind of a cool, badass dude.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
So I don't know, the Rock is one of them.
I got a guy like Robert Downey Jr. Just announced
as doctor Doom. No, it was then a Robert Downey Junior.
Was any troubled.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Yeah, he had a lot of a long time diction
issues early in his life and career.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yeah, even just a couple of months ago, you guys
talked about when does he finally shake that? Remember, because
somebody joked about his past on one of the award shows.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Dude Bill Cosby was like the most love guy in America.
There you go from the opposite, I you know, up
until a couple of years ago. If you asked us
who's like your favorite actor? I would have probably been like,
you know, who's up there? Kevin Spacey. We allowed to
like him again because he was innocent in court. So
who else comes to mind? No, absolutely not. I'll get
(13:04):
I'll give you two that popped into my mind.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
One of each. Great, then maybe not so great. We've
talked about it before, justin Timberlake. Oh yeah, as of late. Yeah, great,
then not so great, toxic, and then great again.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Rob Low, that's a good example. Ever loves Rob Lo. Yes,
for a while they did not correct. Yes, that's a
really great one. I like that DP. Now he's Rob high. Yeah,
he's definitely high on everybody's scale. And he looks fantastic
and he's one hundred and sixty five years old. So
Rob Low comes to mind. People that again just completely
(13:40):
turned it around for the good or for the bad.
It's just they had a complete image change right before
your very eyes. And it'll be. It could be in
the world of sports, it could be in life. It's
a great thought based on that meme because we were
talking about how Yo Snoop Dogg. Just everyone forgets that
at one point in his life. He was a troubled
young kid. You know, it's even funnier about it, though, Rich.
It's like a you can go next level thought with this, Right,
(14:03):
if you're a weenio growing up in today's world, you're
or Jen Alpha, You're growing up thinking, look at these
two nice old guys, aren't they great? Not knowing the
previous version of them? Right, But then the next level
thought is, well, who was that for us? Like, you know,
we grow up like that's us thinking, like not ever knowing,
(14:25):
like you mean to tell me Morgan Freeman was like
a badass at one point. I didn't know that, you
know what I mean? Like who was that person? Where
we never really knew that side of that guy? We
only knew them as the old, happy guy. I'll give
you a great example, great example. I had to take
a film class in college. Right, and I'm not one
for old movies. I could I could beat most people
in movie trivia if you start in nineteen seventy five.
(14:47):
Let's start with Rocky and the Godfather and Jaws and
Jaws pre that, I may have seen five movies Wizard
of Oz included. I had to watch a street car
named Desire in a film class. Okay, and I remember
thinking myself, hold up that s Marlon Brando. He was
like a handsome tool guy. Yeah, crape. I mean he
(15:10):
changed a lot for sure. Yeah he could have been,
could have been.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Think about child actors who had trouble at the start
of their lives because of the fame.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Most of them did.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Yeah, but Drew Barrymore somebody like her sounds back in
a major way.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Yeah, for sure. That's a good one because she was trouble.
For Remember she stood on Letterman's desk and flashed him
and she was she was little. She said she was
taking drugs and drinking as a kid, little girl. Little
was it? That book she wrote, It was a whole
book about it, her whole troubled childhood that she has.
And now she's, you know, on the talk show crying
with her guests and everybody loves grabbing them close, grabbing
(15:45):
them a weird way, very affectionate and loving and totally different. Again,
it's about the look. Everybody evolves. It's not that everybody changes.
Not that we're talking about complete flip the script Snoop
Dog was smoking chronic on MTV with Doctor Dre. He's
still doing that though, yeah, but and murder was the case.
But now he's also lovable and Martha Stewart and wholesome
(16:07):
and everybody loves what he does. He's a likable guy.
Not saying he wasn't likable then. He was just different different.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yeah, he went from one to eight to seven to
more like Afro puff Man, you know I mean.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
And the same thing with Flavor Flav. Although always kind
of likable, you know, he was. He was in a
rap group. I watched it as lovable is now. I
think it changed when he did the Flavor of Love.
That's when he started for seeing a different side of
Flavor Flave. Do you remember hanging with Flavor Flav V
and Danny g and Spot in the VIP at a
(16:41):
Luke Comb's concert. Yeah, he was wearing a silver suit.
I said he came from the I thought he came
from the future.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
And I told him, I said, you got to come
by our stage tomorrow, and he did.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
He showed up. But the head set on got on
the show. And as a little kid too, you know,
our perspective is a little off. You know, you gotta
take that and the consideration here. But I thought Public
Enemy was like they were hard bro. So even though
Flavor Flav was like they were, Yeah, even though he
was the hype man and like the color the colorful
character of the group, they were still hard to me.
(17:13):
So to see this, this happy go lucky side of
Flavor Flav with the Olympic team, it's just it is
very different. I think you get sum it up with
if your parents questioned you listening to their music and
now they're the ambassadors of our country at the Olympics,
that's a big switch. There you go, that's a big switch.
I got one that I watched a docu series. I
(17:33):
love the David Letterman, my next guest on Netflix, really
good interviews. The Barkley one was fantastic of your big
NBA fan. Letterman sat down with Charles Barkley and who
could very well be your next Super Bowl halftime act.
He sat down with Miley Cyrus and let me tell you,
Miley went from dude Hannah Montana teen star to like
(17:56):
wild crazy trying to push the envelope and now she's
that just a great thirty something year old musician that
has her act together. You know, I hate back and
rich up and he's absolutely right about that one. She
is not the Miley Cyrus that you remember just five
years ago on a wrecking ball bending over in front
of Robin Ran. Oh. Yes, you're absolutely right. She changed
(18:17):
it around big time. So who else comes to mind?
The calls are coming up next, and again you could
think about athletes too. Maybe they just totally turned into
players you hated for whatever reason. Got another musician go ahead,
She did a Super Bowl halftime show. Let's see if
I could give it away by giving you the hint
she jumped off the roof of the stadium. Lady Ganga,
(18:39):
Lady God. She used to wear like she used to
wear meat dresses and like eggs on her head and
doing all this stuff. Now she's just like a musician
that sings beautifully and like your parents love Lady Gaga
and an actress. Yeah, she won an Academy Award. Like
we're talking about someone that was you know, it's a
shocked value. Yeah, like her her love and affection for
Tony Bennett and all the stuff she did with him,
(19:00):
and I think that really changed her image and and
other people's image of.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Her an athlete, you guys had a chance to bond
with before he kind of went mental. CT Espno, Brown.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Most likable young dude in the league. He he was
so likable. Honestly, I think that might be the number
one answer in the world of sports. You saw this
dude with an election number one after number two, number two.
You know, takeaway murder. Antonio Brown came into the league,
(19:34):
and we were there for the whole thing. I mean
we all watched on TV, but Rich and I you know,
interviewed him, met him. The dude had everything ahead of him.
Smile from ear to ear electric is you see how
like jess chis chishom is playing with the Yankees. That's
how this guy was like entering the league super electric,
super positive and super pumped to be a Steeler. And
(19:57):
then you see what happened to the guy like that
is not the dude that came into the league those
years ago. Total one eight. So thanks, font is perfect. Yeah,
that's a great answer. It hit in the head, and yeah,
everything went sideways.
Speaker 3 (20:11):

get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Welcome back to Kavi Know and Rich on Fox Sports Radio,
the worldwide leaders of Nonsense. Tom Brady is another answer
I came to mind. Maybe not a full one eighty
like Snoop Dogg, Maybe like a one sixty because when
he was with the Patriots, he's kind of stiff, that
guy with the Buccaneers, and just since football now he
(21:21):
had an X rated roaster. We've seen a completely different
side of this guy. So it's almost a one.
Speaker 7 (21:27):
Eighty speaking of being with the Patriots and being stiff.
Look at Belichick, dude, Yeah, I mean he's getting there.
He's dating twenty three year olds takings.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
We're seeing an evolution of these people. There's a stiff
choke in there somewhere. Hey, you know, either are one
of our sponsors. I thought of a couple more surprised
we didn't have more of those sponsors. It's a chew
on this. This BigMan came to mind. I know he's
in a lot of trouble now, probably a bad dude.
But when we were little kids, he was the corny
(21:58):
announcer that would announce with the bad guy, whether it's
like Bobby the Brain or Jesse Ventura, Hey, Vince McMahon WWF.
And then he took on that persona of no chance
in hell, and he was the bad owner of wrestling.
Yeah became It was a big one that blurred line
of what was the reality versus what was an act
with McMahon, I got one based on we are talking
(22:19):
about the Olympics, right, Yeah, how Snoop Dogg and Flavor
flav up up center representing the USA. How everybody loves him?
How about in nineteen seventy six, yesterday was the anniversary
of Bruce Jenner winning gold in the decathlon. Bruce Jenner
now Caitlyn Jenner, She's on, she was on whenies boxes
(22:41):
and is now like a right wing politician that's you know,
represents the transgender community. Tell me Bruce Jenner's not on
this list, Kaitlyn Jenner. That's that's someone makes me think
of that Ahmad Rashad meme. You somee of my favorite
memes ever. You've seen this, right, I gotta find that
just just every he is unbelievable. Madrashad's wedding meme. Have
(23:04):
you ever seen that one? Dan Byron knows what we're
talking about. I found that ready, Yeah, a Madrashad had
the worst groomsman ever. It's a Madrashod And right beside
him is Bill Cosby. Oh, j Simpson and uh is
a Bruce Jenner to there? Wait, Oh, that's the Howard Cosell.
Howard Cosell. Howard Cosell's is standing next to Bruce Jenner
(23:25):
and OJ and it said, you're not gonna get him.
You're not gonna believe this. There's a bunch of them.
There's so many good ones because we've seen an evolution
the arc, the one eighty that these people pulled in life.
They're good for bad for whatever. It's not what they
once were. I confused two really great memes. It is
does the Howard Cosell one? Just to make it clear,
(23:46):
he's in the broadcast booth with OJ and Bruce Jenner.
Well you'll get you're not gonna believe this. And then
the groomsmen of the Madras shod were Bill Cosby and OJ.
Isn't that crazy? So he was one of the ushers,
Phil Spector. Yeah, seriously, right, let's go to the phones
now we appreciate it the full one eighty. Let's go
(24:06):
to Dan in Washington, Line one. What's up? Dan? Hey? Dan?
Speaker 8 (24:10):
Hey, fellow's how you guys doing?
Speaker 1 (24:11):
What's up? Who comes to mind? Man?
Speaker 7 (24:13):
Uh?
Speaker 8 (24:14):
Mark Wahlberg? How do you go from dancing in your
underwear to one of the faces of Hollywood? And you
are literally everywhere?
Speaker 1 (24:22):
That's true, I mean Mark Wahlberg is everywhere. Good answer, Dan, Randy,
Remember it was supposed to be an NKOTB And he's like, yeah,
it wasn't for him, so he decided to go with
the funky bunch with the funky bunch. What's up, Randy?
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Oh yeah, I got one share it from subway.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Oh my god. And it's an inspiration to the world
to a kid toucher we all wish would burn it out.
I know you're right, but you thought he was such
a I mean he's still a goofball. But you thought
he was this wholesome goofball. Meanwhile, he had this crazy
dark side to him that you would never get that
doc You ever watched a documentary, Yeah, of course I did.
It was harzy, uh David in Cincinnati? What's up? David?
(25:02):
Not much? How what you got man?
Speaker 8 (25:05):
I had two and you guys took him. I got
a couple more. I had Jenner and Pete Rothers obviously
from but I got Robert de Niro. He went from
all those Mafia movies to meet the Falkers, I was gonna.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Say, and then he went to like crying liberal, like
stopping his feet right. I mean, Robert den was a
good one. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (25:31):
My second on my second one is doctor Dray.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Doctor dre Well. He went, well, I don't know. Did
he change his image? Did he? Would you say? DANNYG?
I mean just more mainstream with the head of I.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Mean it turned into a mega business man. But he's
always stayed kind of true to his music.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Danny G. You came up in hip hop radio, wasn't
becoming a powerful businessman sort of the the goal of
a lot of people in hip hop world. That was
the aspiration. For sure.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
They didn't want to work for record companies ripping them off.
They wanted to make their own billions and millions of dollars.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
And for that, Dre's living the dream. M So he
got that beats money, that's what he yet now? Uh more?
Phone calls at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
And if we don't get to you by the ways
at Covino and Rich on social media, let's go to
Tacoma online. Five. Who do we have my handwriting? Tabow?
Is this ross? Hey? Rich? Speaking of Tacoma's right? You
made me think of Toyota. Yeah. How about the brand Kia?
(26:29):
Oh yeah, I feel like that pulled a one eighty.
Oh yeah? How about Visio? That was the week if
you went to your boys house and you had a Visio,
you like, Yo, dude, that's whack. I'm going to someone
else's house to watch the game. But now they have
a visy You're like, oh, that's pretty good TV. It
doesn't even matter anymore. It doesn't matter. But dude, Kia,
it was the weakest sort of car. Now it's pretty dope.
Changed image. What's up Tacoma? Is this Roger?
Speaker 9 (26:55):
This is Roger yeah, right, So one of my you know,
he had a run and he was my one of
my real favorite actress for a long stretch, and that
was Mel Gibson. I mean, when you go back to Braveheart,
Patriot Ransom, he had a run. I mean he was
he was great in the early eighties, but in the nineties,
(27:16):
in the two thousands, he was incredible.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Let me tell you, Mel Gibson. By the way, the
Patriot I feel because everyone loves Braveheart so much, I
think the Patriots underrated. That might be my favorite mother.
And you know what, Mel Gibson, I think he's turning
his image around a little bit. He's gone back and forth.
He said a lot of dumb things about the Jewish
community that you know, people change and you hope to forgive.
But Mel Gibson, if you're interested, is making Lethal Weapon
(27:38):
five with Danny Glover.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
So he's also an incredible director, like Apocalypto. If you've
ever seen that, one of the best movies I've ever seen.
I always praised that movie. That's great, incredible. Whether you
like that guy or not, that movie's fans, he's undeniably talented.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Yes, it does a great club of Mel Gibson that
in your free time. Just look it up. He gets
a flat tire at a gas station. You're going to
try to explain this one. Good luck, Okay, and it's
the playful side of Mel Gibson, Mel Gibson, Now you
know what. Let's go Dann Bayer. Let let me know
what good tease? Hey deeps uh. Let's go to the phones,
(28:13):
and Iowa was Sam may have the number one answer
on the board. Oh, actually a phone caller said the
same thing.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
He overheard the collar. No, no, no, I said it
was a caller. Okay, let's let's take his call. Who
is it, Danny. Let's go to Shannon and Reno.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Shannon, what's up? The Beastie boys from hip hop to
rock guys.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Yeah, that's not the caller that Iowa Samuels referencing the Yeah, Shannon, Well,
the thing is what he's talking about with the Beasties
is that they were down and out there for a second.
After being the party boys of hip hop, they reinvented
themselves by doing live instrumentation.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
I remember that. What was that on SNL when they
did say the live performance totally evolved? That was crazy.
You got to call spade A spade not a great answer,
It's really not. I mean, I don't think the Beastie
Boys took a big one eighty in their career. I
would say they reinvented themselves. Madonna, Who do we got next?
Mike in New Jersey?
Speaker 8 (29:08):
Mike, Hey, what's up guys?
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Anybuddy?
Speaker 9 (29:13):
So what about the poster boy of athletics, Lance Armstrong?
Speaker 1 (29:18):
There it is, this is the caller Sam overheard. You
know when you think about how beloved he was, and
he was sort of the villain, and he was demonized
in that way. I mean, he did it to himself.
But I would say that's that's gotta be a top
three answer on the board. The reason, the reason you
started wearing biker shorts. I mean, how many people picked
up biking or donated were inspired by him? Had Rich
(29:42):
still wears those bracelets. My theory, my theory is is
that I forgive Lance Armstrong because he could be the
biggest jo of all time. He could be arrogant, he
could be you could be, he could be the worst dude.
But the fact that saved hundreds of lives, saved thousands
of lives and people and did all that for cancer research.
I think it's a push. You could be the worst
guy in the world. Cheat, cheat, cheap, but you know
(30:03):
what he cheated for. The outcome was all this great,
all right, So he ruled like ten lives, but he
saved like thousands. It's like a train's going for two people,
you know, well, one more phone call, one more quick
one here Timothy and Fretzno, Timmy, I make it snappy, Timothy.
Speaker 8 (30:20):
Hey, guys, real quick on, Lance Armstrong.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
If you look into it, none of that money went.
Speaker 9 (30:27):
To cancer research.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
Oh then the worst guy, Hey, Lance, I'm strong? Is
that true? Where did the money go?
Speaker 8 (30:34):
Is cancer awareness?
Speaker 9 (30:36):
Everybody's aware of cancer, but none of it went.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
To research, So I just went into marketing.
Speaker 8 (30:42):
People hate him so much.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Oh now I hate him even more.
Speaker 9 (30:46):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
By the way, you know, for the previous call was
from Jersey. I had a good Jersey answer. And I'm
not even joking. Yehad Let's hear it. Snooky does like
mom blogs and mom stuff on social media. You know,
let's call spade a spade. Not a great shut up,
I'm done, not a great come on? So mean about
the beast boys, and you want to know it's SNOOKI Sam,
(31:07):
make sure you play some Beasties next hour sound Thank
you guys for hanging out. Delete the snooky pot on
the podcast sad but we'll be back. We got more
Covino on Rich midwek Major. We'll talk some NFL all
coming up, having fun day seeing R two Part Twosie,
I'll be the judge of that. I saw a story.
This is right up your steampipe Bally Mario Canton style. Yeah.
(31:29):
American Idol announced that Carrie Underwood is close to finalizing
a deal to replace Katie Perry on American Eye. Leave
some money for the rest of us. You know, she
makes a million dollars a week doing the Sunday Night
football theme. That's how I feel about Ryan Seacrest hosting
Wheel of Fortunes, Like, get your face out of here,
Leave it for somebody else that dude has to host.
Give it to me or Bobby Bones or some other
(31:51):
Latino guy like Mario Lopez taking all the games pays
hosting again, having a.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Bone to Dinkleman or Dunkleman whatever that guy's name his
first co host, remember, Yeah, of course, then that guy
fell off the face of the earth, Tonkleman because he
had morals.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Remember he was like, uh, it's like I only can
they make fun of the contestants. Oh to tie back
to the last conversation Simon Cowell, Remember he's not mean anymore.
He's not mean at all. Really, I didn't know. It's
like a nice guy now. Well, because it has to
be mean right back. That's why. So Carrie Underwood, Carrie Underwood,
how most of finalizing a deal? She's replacing Katy Perry. Okay,
(32:29):
so hold on to that story. By the way, who
you a bigger fan of? When I say fan, you
know what I mean? I talked about this. I don't
mean their catalog. Listen, my wife looks more like a
Carrie Underwood. I've always I've liked blondes. But man, Katy Perry,
there's something that oozes sexuality. There is Katy Perry. To me,
(32:52):
it would eat most of you alive. Wow, I'm going
Katy Perry. Now, she's a great judge on American Idol.
What are you doing there? Spot? But Perry was making
tens of millions of dollars. So Carrie Underwood, I'm not
saying she doesn't deserve it. But Sunday Night Football's theme
American idol Judge and on top of that, like you know,
(33:14):
the platinum album after album after touring and everything she's
doing from a little country bumpkin, that one American idol
she's doing. All right, you said pumpkin, right? Yeah? Now
hold on, now, hold on to that story. Carrie Underwood
replacing Katy Perry, gotcha check. With all the popularity of
Deadpool and Wolverine, there's been a lot of clips and
(33:37):
highlights of Wesley Snipe's talking about how he got the
phone call to reprise his role as Blade in the movie.
Hate to give away the cameo, but come on, spoiler,
you got spoiler, not have social media, you gotta give
a spoiler. Aler, I didn't see that.
Speaker 7 (33:54):
I didn't see it. Hey, it's a lot of place. No,
you gotta give it a week.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Seckelmann. So Wesley Snipes is all over the news talking
about you know, it was a surprise to me because
I don't know if you guys knew this. But Mhershela
Ali is replacing him as Blade moving forward. So he's like,
I didn't understand, but I was like, hell, yeah, I'll
do it if you can make it happen. If if
(34:23):
Disney and Marvel and everybody thinks that I could be Blade. Sure,
why the hell not? And they had worked together in
the past, so he's been talking about it everywhere, so
I'm not hearing anything. So anyway, you got Mahershela Ali
replacing Wesley Snipes that's been announced as Blade moving forward.
You got Carrie Underwood replacing Katy Perry. Both of these
(34:44):
stories viral today and in the news today. Based on that,
I have a question for you, and it does tie
into sports because we all know the story of Wally Pip.
Do you root for your replacement in life on your
day off and your relationship? I mean, I think depends
on where you are. Aaron Rodgers just said that, hey,
with all that money Aaron Jordan Love just got, maybe
(35:07):
he could buy my old house in Green Bay. Well.
It's interesting because in all of our years of talking
sports and living life, I can only think of one
guy that we've ever talked to that was honest about this,
and that was on our show, Cavino and Rich at
Serious Extemn At the time we talked to Barry Zito.
You remember what he said, Barry Zito, former Oakland A
(35:31):
That's what I've giant San Francisco Giant. Yeah, the guy
just oozed the Bay Area. That dude oozed curveballs. He
had a nasty he had some nasty stuff. He had
a great movement. Barry Zito, great pitcher, really nice guy.
He's a musician as well. If you follow Barry Zito.
He actually he was a cool dude. Actually just a
(35:52):
cut from a cut from the cloth of a really
like fun guy. He was honest with us and he
said if he he was ever replaced in a rotation,
spot start, he was a little banged up, injured, new team,
whatever the case may be. He always wanted his team
to win. But he's like, I can't lot you. I
(36:12):
never wanted my replacement to light it up. It's like,
those are the games you want to win, eight and
seven and your bats did to work. You don't want
you don't want a spot starter to take two or
three starts from you and have an EER of zero.
And I love the honesty because you rarely hear it,
especially in sports, and I've been noticing it just watching
(36:33):
Jazz Chisholm light it up with the Yankees, and I'm like,
I'm seeing Verdugo, I'm seeing Glaber I'm seeing Lemayhew. They're
all given like their collapse, but deep down in the
back of their mind they have to be thinking, oh man,
we better step our game up or else he's going
to replace us in the lineup. You know, there's always
that level of competition that people don't like to admit
(36:54):
or talk about. There's an honesty that exists in some
places that doesn't and others. For instance, when we were kids,
and you see this a lot on the Joe Montana
Cool under Pressure documentary Joe Cool, there was no love
lost between him and Steve Young. They were both vocal
with the press, the media every we both wanted the gig. Yeah,
(37:16):
and Steve Young jokes that Bill Walsh when they got
Steve Young from the Tampa Bay Bucks. Bill Walsh was
a bigger fan, believe it or not, of Steve Young
and would tell him things like, Yeah, Montana's almost done,
don't worry. And then Montana goes on to it a
few more Super Bowls, and you know, Steve Young waited,
(37:37):
and you can only imagine the numbers Steve Young would
have had if he had not had a sit behind
Joe Montana for year after year after year after year
after year rooting for your replacement. Let's talk about it.
Let's dive into it a little further. Eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. How about the next guy? Because
I thought of this. Let's say you broke up. It's
(37:59):
a matter of who did the dumping here, That is true, right,
I think that's what it comes down to. Like, for example,
if your wife divorced you or your girlfriend dumped you,
you're not rooting for the next guy. In fact, you're
probably putting a hecks on both of them. That got kid,
he crap, right. But if you had to do the
breaking up and you felt bad about it, and you
(38:20):
had that guilt like, oh, she was a nice person,
but it wasn't for me, and you broke up with
whoever she is, you're probably rooting for the next guy
because you just want that guy to provide her with
the life that you couldn't give her and it gets
her off your back till that's what I mean, Like,
you want that guy to give her the love that
she needed that you couldn't give her. So I think
(38:41):
in that case you're rooting for the next guy. Most
of the time you were not. I can't say that
I ever was dumped and rooted for the next guy. Ever,
not that I like rooted against them, but I never
rooted for them ever. I mean Drew Bledsoe was cracking
jokes at Tom Brady's roast twenty years dad. Still you
can tell it's funny, but deep down inside you think
(39:04):
Drew Bledzell was rooting for Tom Brady. Nobody's really ever
honest about that. And it's like, who are you kidding?
That's your competition. That's a weird job. It's a weird lie.
We'd like to tell. There's a if you really want
to put together, like the list of top lies people say,
even if you're the most confident, you know what I mean,
Like Katie Perry did a great job, You really think
(39:26):
she wants to carry under it to do a better job. Noay,
you think Wesley Snipes wants some mahersha Alie to take
the Blade franchise to levels it's never been before. Every
time there's a new Spider Man or Superman or Batman,
you don't you don't think the previous ones, like I
hope this guy stinks you. You as especially in sports,
you want to be remembered as you were that better
(39:46):
option you were the best. That's that's just your human nature.
My point. I don't think you're ever rooting for someone
to be better than you, unless you say, oh I
got one, I got another exception, unless it's your kid.
I think as a as a parent, you want your
kid to be better than you ever were at everything,
if you're a normal, healthy person, right, or maybe even
(40:06):
your brother. I I I my brother more than me
I did. I never cared if my brother was, if
my brother was the greatest whatever. Okay, I can see that.
You know, when when we're often like Dan Byer and
Monsey filling, I want the bosses to think they're better
than everyone accept us. That's kind. Is it that fair though, dB?
Isn't that fair and honest?
Speaker 3 (40:27):
Well?
Speaker 5 (40:27):
I want to bring an eye with Sam, because Sam,
what what is my golden rule in all of this?
Speaker 4 (40:32):
So whenever Dan is away, when he comes back, he
wants to hear that the show's completely got derailed. Yes, absence,
he wants He just wants to be valued in that way. Yeah,
you cannot have someone fill in for Dan and they
were just just tell Dan that everything was derailed, even
if it wasn't.
Speaker 5 (40:50):
I want to hear about the chaos and how grateful
they are that I'm finally back and that the ship
is back on.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
They're so great to see you, man. Yes, oh my goodness, dude,
a glowing crown is unmanageable.
Speaker 5 (41:02):
Yes, yes, they my goodness, thank you You're back. I
only hear how awful it was. I can't stand it
when I go, how are the shows like? Pretty good?
Speaker 1 (41:10):
I respect that I do, And doesn't Dan Patrick have
a production bit where he says something about that when
he's off, isn't there a production fit? He says, don't
cheat on me with other shows. Don't cheat on me
with other shows. I'm being honest when I said I
Dan Byer and Moncy, I think they're as good or
better than MO shows on this or other networks. I agree,
but but I certainly don't want the vibe to be that. Man,
(41:33):
they're just who's on Rich. Yeah, let's say let's say
we're off right, Let's let's be honest about this. We
go to social media at Covino and Rich and then
we see all these people like Man, Dan Bayern, Monzi.
I think they're better than CNR. You think we want
to hear that?
Speaker 5 (41:47):
Absolutely not, but you love it when so many writes
like when are you guys coming back, and you're like.
Speaker 1 (41:53):
Look, you're like, hey, enjoy Dan and Monsey.
Speaker 5 (41:56):
Yet you have got like goose momps, well that feeling
that you're like.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
Why are people so reluctant to be honest about that?
Especially in sports, Dan, Especially in sports, you rarely hear,
you know, someone saying like, yeah, man, it's good to
see my replacement filling in for my absence.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
But I have the answer Coveno Dan. It's like in
our industry, say you're doing Morning Drive and it is
a grind. You're grinding your face off. All right, you're
doing good in the ratings, but you're tired because waking
up that early doing Morning Drive for weeks and weeks
in a row. You finally get a break and then
say they tab the afternoon guy or a guy on
another shift who's not in this great morning time slot,
(42:36):
and he gets to do that for a week.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
He goes balls to the wall, does all these.
Speaker 2 (42:41):
New bits and games, and he's tap dancing and he's
doing everything he could think of to win the hearts
of the audience. And a lot of times he does
because it's something new and refreshing for the guy that's
tired after doing a whole year of morning drive. So
when you get back, it's like, oh, that guy was great,
But this is why somehow they want somebody that's just
(43:01):
calm and kind of in between great.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
And you think that's why Colin allows us to fill
in any to him.
Speaker 2 (43:07):
I don't think our network does that, but I've heard
some other shows yests, where they on purpose will pick
a host that is not so wonderful because you know,
then there's no real threat there.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
For the same thing that is really interesting when you
think about it, when you really think, I'm gonna be
thinking about this later on tonight too. Because the truth is,
and again it ties into sports completely, no one wants
to be wildy pipped ever or drew bledsoe ever right now,
nobody ever wants that. You can't look at me with
a straight face, or a gay face, or any face
(43:43):
for that matter. You can't look at me with any
face and tell me that Russell Wilson and Justin Fields
are rooting for each other. No, they can appreciate the
healthy competition. They let's push each other further. They can
respect that as adults but there's no way, no way,
even within the Yankees clubhouse, you don't think deep down
(44:05):
inside John Carlow, Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, when they're all healthy,
you don't think they want to be the guy that
hits more home runs like everyone like, you can't bepecily
in sports because you're talking about the ultimate competitors, especially
in sports. So again, two stories today and they were
like back to back. That's what made me think of this.
Carrie Underwood's replacing Katie Perry, herschel Ali is replacing Wesley
(44:29):
Snipes's blade. There's no way that these dudes want them
to do better. It's just how it is good choice.
By the way, when you think, I don't know why
it didn't even click. Katy Perry was great on that show.
Carrie Underwood's the most successful alumni on that show. Yeah,
so it really is like a full circle push too,
because and they're both kind of hot. So they're both
but you know what Carrie Underwoods, because you know, I'm
(44:51):
pop radio guru guy. Pretty certain it was five when
Carrie underwood won American Idol, so twenty years after the fact,
which is a pretty cool thought, right, I was hoping
Taylor Hicks was gonna be Thanks how you were rooting
for Sengaya. I thought bo b I should have been
the guy. Let's get into it Midweek Major, shall we?
Speaker 3 (45:16):
Covino and Rich get you over the middle of the
week when mid Week Major?
Speaker 1 (45:23):
I love that we.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
Throw sports and pop culture headlines and topics at the
fellas and it's like, the kids say, that's so, we
definitely see it our scoring Midweek Major.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
Oh wow, that's a good one. One, that's pretty good.
That was for the Olympics. Yeah, that's a that's a
silver metal screen. He's got the lung capacity of Katie Ladeki.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
Before we hand things over to the number one and
only host of this award winning, non award winning segment,
we like to roll the two big red love dice
in the main studio.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
There. I just rolled a four. Let's say what I got?
You got a four? Very easy to beat unless I
totally fail. Eight got it?
Speaker 2 (46:11):
Rich got the A right, Sir Rich gets first take
as we hand things over, ladies and gentlemen to the
one and only, oh the most famous person from Scotch Plains,
New Jersey besides Judy Bloom Spotty Boy.
Speaker 1 (46:23):
Hi, guys, thanks for giving me some time today. Yeah,
of course I don't know that much.
Speaker 7 (46:29):
Going on all right, So, as you may or may
not know, many Olympians received little.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
To no salary for competing. Did you know this?
Speaker 7 (46:36):
Yes, most earning less than about twenty five k years
sad for their sport.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
There are metal bonuses. Do you know that there were
metal bonuses? I did, and ours are significantly low, very low.
Our metal bonuses.
Speaker 7 (46:47):
It's thirty five k for gold, twenty two five hundred
for silver, and fifteen thousand for bronze. I saw Singapore
does like seven hundred thousand dollars for their goal.
Speaker 1 (46:57):
You know it said before you even finish. It's sadder.
The saddest thing is like talked to a girl gets
more up at a club, then come up and someone
gets to win a gold metal.
Speaker 7 (47:07):
She's in my news. Stay tuned anyway. So the higher
profile athletes rely on a lot of endorsement deals.
Speaker 1 (47:12):
I can go over those a few of those in
a minute.
Speaker 7 (47:14):
But my favorite endorsement comes from none other than Italy's
gymnast Georgia Villa. Villa won silver this week in artistic gymnastics.
She's sponsored by cheese, specifically specifically Parmesano reggiano. You know
you've had it. You get it at the U your
Italian food. Seen the giant wheels or the wedges at
(47:35):
the store. But that's not the best part. The best
part is that as part of her endorsement deal, she
did a whole photoshoot with.
Speaker 1 (47:43):
Wheels of cheese. She's cuddling it, she's cutting. There's one
where she's like holding a giant wheel cheese.
Speaker 7 (47:48):
There's one where she's doing like a split across like
four wheels of cheese. So yeah, there's a lot of
like photos of If you're into cheese and you're into
a gymnast, let me tell you this is your day.
So go check it out online on social media. Anyway,
cheese and gymnast, that's two of my kinks right.
Speaker 1 (48:04):
Midweek or major there you go. Let me tell you
I'm a big fan of her. You go to win
a tiny restaurant, they go, would you like some cheese?
Always say yes, I keep going. They're like, say when
keep going? Say when, I'll tell you keep going. I
think this is great. Listen any endorsements these great athletes
(48:24):
can make. If it's hugging wheels and cheese, so be it.
I think they gotta get funny better, like she should
do like a funny central ad where she's like slowly grinder.
You know how this is a headline. Rich's wife does
this in every family photo. Cheese in the cheese. It
Cheese's got Rich Davis. Look, this is a it's a
(48:48):
mid story, but you're right, these photos are everywhere so great,
and it is nice to see that they have other
ways to make money. Because when I see what Simone
Biles gets for winning, she won, like what thirty seven
thousand in bonus money.
Speaker 7 (49:01):
By the way, she gets eight point she had got
last year eight point five million in sponsorships from brands
like Athleta, Power Aid and Weeding.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
She's not fantastic, but making that thirty seven thousand bonus
compared to what other countries get, like Spot said, seven
hundred plus, when you're in Singapore and other countries who
value their elite athletes Singapore, Singapore probably just has to
pay one person. That's why. No, but seriously, man, so
Hey Siller Minigolds. It's a mid story, but it's really
(49:30):
weak how we pay our athletes. I agree, all right,
A few Olympic stories.
Speaker 7 (49:35):
Sticking with the Olympic news, a lot of drama going
on with the women's gymnastics of Team Simone Biles is
involved in some off the mat drama with her twenty
twenty Olympic teammate Michayleas Skinner. Earlier this summer, Skinner posted
a video after the formation of Team USA saying that
besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth
(49:56):
just isn't what it used to be. A lot of
girls don't work as hard. They just don't have the
work ethic. Video has since been deleted, but Simone Biles
poked some fun in it after the Team USA won gold,
with the caption saying lack of talent lazy Olympic champions.
Speaker 1 (50:12):
So she poked fun that.
Speaker 7 (50:14):
Apparently Skinner came back blocked all the team on social media.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
It's just getting a lot.
Speaker 7 (50:19):
Of like, you know, buzz, like drama buzz going on
midweek or major.
Speaker 1 (50:23):
Man, this is this is major. You don't, I mean,
you don't have to lie you care about like gymnast beef.
But I think it is. It's a good I told
you so, right, Like no, it's a great motivator. Can
we know people doubting you, right, and essentially the old
teammate doubted her. They won gold. I think a little
manny Nanny Pooh pooh is good, So props to Simone Biles.
(50:44):
I do think it's major because I don't think Mikayla
Skinner's wrong, even though some Simone Biles proved her to
be wrong in this particular case. Take a look around.
There's a bunch of lazy young people out there. They're
not on their grind. Not everybody's grinding, like Eric Nice,
like the dude on the Not everybody's grinding. There's a
lot of people and it comes from frustration. I get it,
because they're not getting anywhere in their career and they're
(51:06):
not making the money they want to make. But it's
not just in gymnastics, it's in life. So I don't
think she's wrong in saying that. If that's what motivated them,
then good. All right.
Speaker 7 (51:16):
One more Olympic story. Yeah, Olympic judo star. An Olympic
judo star. I know you're a big fan of Olympic
Judo's your top top sport. Is recovering from his win
over Italy's Manuel Lombardo, where so the Olympic guy secured bronze,
his first Olympic medal. However, his injury sustained was not
(51:37):
during the actual match. It actually happened after the fact
when he was celebrating his win. So it was Moldova's
abdial Osmanov was celebrating so hard in the middle of
his celebration, grabbed his right arm.
Speaker 1 (51:50):
Apparently he dislocated his shoulder in the middle of his celebration.
Speaker 7 (51:53):
Anymore events coming up for him? Or so he's done
that he won his bronze. This was his dream to
win bronze. He was able to make the medal ceremony
and apparently he delayed shoulder surgery unlike me, so he
could compete in the game. So now I guess he
can have his shoulder surgery now that he won bronze.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
Midweek or major? What's major? The to the bikinis on
this French beach volleyball team. I'm watching all right, focused,
I'm sorry, what are we asking? Oh the guy getting injured? No,
it reminds me of the saddust injury of all time.
Please fill in the blank for me. Morales, dude, Kendre Morales.
Remember he had a walk off home run, jumped on
home plate, hurt himself, never the same yo. Injury freak.
(52:30):
Accidents like that really upset me. Being celebration in celebration,
that's it's unfortunate. But you know what, he has four
years to worry about it. Now he won his metal.
Go back home. They're prout of you. Moldov is really excited.
There you go, Muldova. So hey, he wins the bronze.
This is a mid story because I don't know this dude. Okay.
I do agree with rich because when you get injured
(52:50):
celebrating like that, it really ruins the moment. It's not
like he got injured, you know, frustratingly, like punching something,
or like breaking his hand because he punched the Kevin
Brown or something. Yeah, but this is every other story
I always upset me.
Speaker 3 (53:04):
Man.
Speaker 1 (53:04):
And when he jumped on home played after I think
it was a walk off friends slam. Yeah, and man,
that's not what you want. All right over to the
Kelsey Bros.
Speaker 7 (53:12):
Okay, uh, the Kelsey Bros have the hottest podcast going,
as you know, with their new Heights podcast, source of
at least one midweek major story week.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
Well, it seems like they're.
Speaker 7 (53:21):
Capitalizing on all the attention they've been getting over the
last year or so. Not only with I mean they're
they're pretty good. The podcast does well before, of course,
the tailor swift attention came into play. They're now seeking
a potential one hundred million dollar deal for their podcast.
Speaker 1 (53:36):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (53:36):
They've been in talks with the podcast company company Wondery,
whose parent company is Amazon, so we know they have
the money. There's no details on the specifics of the
length of the contract, how many episodes involved. Currently, their
podcast ranks fourth in all of podcasts ever created.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
By audience word number three, with no signs of slowing.
So big thing for them or major It's it's pretty
wild right in world of sports entertainment everything. I'm guessing
Rogan and call Her Daddy might be the only people
bigger than the Kelsey bros.
Speaker 3 (54:07):
Right now.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
It's wild. Listen. As a broadcaster, there's a part of
me that wants to be jealous and be like me,
come on, all right, we'll save it for me. Then
I'll be that Okay, I'll pass it to you because
my first thought is listen. If the audience is there
and they're playing off the Taylor Swift hype and everything
they got going on. You're really just looking for ears
and eyes in the world of broadcasting, TV, radio, streaming.
(54:28):
So hey, you could say the product's good, but the
eyes and ears are substantial. So hey, congrats to them.
They got plans after football. It's a languager deal. I
mean it's one hundred million dollar deal, so that's very major.
But look where they household names before Taylor Swift. Absolutely
they're successful. They would have been doing well regardless, but
Taylor Swift put them to the next level. But I
(54:50):
just don't like as a broadcaster, as Rich said, and
I wish them all the best. This hasn't coming from
a hateful place at all, but we've gone to a
place where these big companies are just signing names and
you're not getting quality product. They're not being signed one
hundred million dollars because they're the greatest broadcasters putting on
the greatest shows. And as a dude that takes pride
(55:10):
in putting out entertaining product and that's what people are
tuning in for, it makes me. It makes me say, well, hey,
we know what, because we're not famous enough, show should
have hit on Taylor Swift when you met her, so
we'd have that big deal. Who would have thought, we're
losing quality for big names. And you see that in
(55:30):
all forms of media. You're not getting the best broadcasters.
You're just getting the best names, the biggest names. And
that's good for a press release and good for big
companies are looking for that big press release, not necessarily
equality content.
Speaker 7 (55:43):
I can't disagree one more else sneaking one more. Travis
should capitalize on this while he can. Rich I'm gonna
give you your four favorite people all in one story.
Travis Kelsey, Okay, Taylor Swift, Bill Maher, and Hawk to
a Girl Go Okay one story. So Bill Maher has
officially waited on the Travis and Taylor Swift relationship with
(56:06):
Hawk to a Girl when she appeared on his podcast
earlier this week. Brandon Park, I know this is I mean,
it's midweek major. I have the options to say this
save the real news for Dan Byer. He thinks that
she's too old. Taylor is too old to be flaunting
jerseys at the game, and that her high school declarations
of love will scare off Travis. He thinks that Travis
(56:28):
is on the brink of dumping Taylor Swift and say
that it's like gatorade at the Super Bowl. You know
you're gonna get dumped. You just don't know when that's funny. Okay,
major o girl, listen.
Speaker 1 (56:42):
I like Bill Maher, but this is a nonsense take
coming from like a fifty six year old, like single
guy I never had kids or a family on the
up on a JD Van store. I mean, kind of
a crazy, crazy cat lady. What I'm just saying, Bill,
What does Bill Maher know about the romance of Taylor
and Travis Kelsey. But I do like Bill Maher. It's
a non story and he's just talking a little smack
for fun, and of course it gets exaggerated because it
(57:03):
is Taylor Swift talk to a girl. This is a
very mid story. I agree, I felt, you know, much
like I wish Kelsey the best with his one hundred
million dollar broadcasting deal, and I wish them the best
in love and in life. I mean, I think that
he is smitten with Taylor Swift. That's my impression. So
(57:23):
I don't know what sort of inside scoop Bill Maher
has on it. That's a mid story, right there you go, Thanks, Thanks,
It's buddy, thank you. Now for the real news Dan
by her.
Speaker 5 (57:35):
Guys, there's some history today at the Olympics, Kitty Ledeki
winning another gold, her record tying eighth gold medal. She
claimed it in the fifteen hundred meter freestyle. You guys
are talking about this before the show, how dominant Ledecki
has been with her times in the fifteen hundred meters.
She has secured the top twenty times all time in
(57:58):
this event.
Speaker 1 (57:58):
She has all twenty. That's insane. That is like truly
a travesty if we don't bring her up in the
goat conversation like we often leave out Michael Phelps, Right,
I mean, don't you have to bring her up when
we're talking goats?
Speaker 5 (58:10):
Yeah, you have to bring her up. But here's another
thing in comparison. Now, Phelps has twenty three gold medals
in his career.
Speaker 1 (58:17):
This was Lidecki's eighth. Okay, right perspective. Yeah, so there's
top twenty. That's pretty that's pretty insane, you know.
Speaker 5 (58:24):
And Phelps got hit some of his in relays as well.
But there's uh but yeah, no, you're absolutely right. Her
twelfth medal overall, only three other Olympic athletes I believe
have more gold medals than she does from the Summer
Games Phelps, Carl Lewis, and Mark Spitz, so that's pretty
pretty heavy company right there,
