one talk to a lot of current events. Current events,
So Steelers have officially named Russell Wilson their Week one starter.
We broke that down. We also talked a little bit
about Dion Sanders and Colorado, who will debut tomorrow. First
(01:10):
Thursday of the college football season. Cannot wait, and of
course crazy to think like a week from you know tomorrow,
Chiefs Ravens. Crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
No, that's the one I'm excited about. I know you're
a college guy. I know you really in, you know,
in the trenches and really committed to that. And I
do enjoy college football for sure. But you can't start
any any better than Chiefs Ravens. I know, Week one.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
I'm almost surprised that they made that the opening night
game because usually it's like a team on the right,
like last year we had the Lions, you know, and
it's like it usually feels like it's a team on
the rise that you know, we want to give them
that spotlight of opening Night. I remember, like Brady year
one when he was in Tampa. I believe they played
in that first I could be totally wrong on that,
(01:59):
but I just bring it up because Ravens obviously the
raining MVP and Lamar Jackson, you know, AFC Championship game rematch,
that just it's great for the fan. Yeah, I'm just
surprised that that was what they decided to go with
in Week one, because that's a game that obviously it
could be at a one o'clock in week seven and
(02:20):
we're all rearranging our schedule, you know. So I'm just
surprised that they did that, and I'm not I mean,
jump start this year with fireworks.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Hm.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
You get to have the defending champions versus the team
they beat to go to the Super Bowl last year.
It's just must see football and every the only game
that day. I know it's gonna be crazy.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
By the way, this year, first time ever, we get
a Friday night game. That's of course the Peacock game
from Brazil, Eagles and Packers. So we get Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday,
we'll get the Monday doubleheader, and of course the all
days Saturday with college.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Say, are they actually going to play that game in
Brazil or yeah, good party?
Speaker 1 (03:04):
It's it.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Well, I'm just trying to figure it out. I want
to know the logistics of what.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Well, it's funny I was telling you during the break,
we just went to my wife and I and her
family and my mom went to Guatemala, where she's from originally.
But I bring it up only because her cousin was
with us. Her cousin is a professional soccer player in
South America, but he played in Brazil and I asked him,
I said, is there anything to do in in Rio
Rio de Janio besides party? And you guys looked at
(03:31):
me and he basically looked at me and was like, no,
you know, he got the I think it's Coco Cabana
Beach and he's like it's He's like, you know, he's
probably you know, you and I are about the same age.
He's probably he's probably like late twenties something like that.
You could tell he's had a time or two down
in Rio Rio. I want to see ru which is
a hotel that's neither here nor there but Rio. And
(03:53):
of course again Eagles and Packers next Friday, next Thursday,
we have that is I'll tell you this man. The NFL.
One thing I'll say about the NFL. They know how
to grow a business and give the consumer what they want.
I mean, standalone games, Yeah, prime time. Like you said,
(04:13):
start off the season with a bang Friday. Everybody's gonna
have a take, especially if the Ravens lose. Oh my goodness,
the Lamar takes are going to be flowing, baby.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
So exactly did you have There were some reports early
on about that Friday game in Brazil. That Uh, it
was something about the colors of the uniforms or something.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
What was that? I don't Bursch is there. Producer. Bursch
is our fantasy football guy who does U He does
the show on Sunday with Bayer and all them. So
do you know anything about this? Was there a special
uniform or anything of that nature.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
No, I remember that. So it was kind of misinterpreted
where Josh Jacobs said that they weren't allowed to wear green,
and people thought it was because of the local gangs.
But it's actually because of the soccer team that plays
in that stadium. It's the rival of the team that
got it. So that's why typically green is outlawed in
that stadium.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
There you go. So that's basically like if you're an
Ohio State fan, you don't call Michigan, you calling the
school up north like things like that kind of thing. Exactly.
All right, So football is coming in college this weekend,
NFL next weekend. H saw this story. And one thing
about that I love about Covino and Rich is they
always include the audience in the show. And I want
to pick your brain, but I want to pick the
(05:25):
audience's audience's brain as well saw this story coming out today.
Is that the jersey that Lebron James wore when he
was famously on the cover of Sports Illustrated at sixteen
years old the chosen one that is up for auction
here in the coming days. It is believed that it
(05:49):
could net up to a million to two million dollars,
which would be obviously a world record for a high
school basketball jersey. This, of course, this news is coming
off of just a few days go, the Babe Bruce jersey.
I cannot believe this, the Babe Bruth jersey that he
was wearing when he called the shot in the World Series. Yeah,
twenty four million dollars. I mean, obviously, if you got
(06:14):
twenty four million to spend on a piece of cloth,
money is not much of an issue. First of all,
as a former athlete, does memorabilia do anything for you?
Because I'll just say this for me, even if I
had an infinite amount of money, I don't know that
I'd be interested in spending twenty four of twenty four
million on a jersey, you know, like Lebron's. Even Lebron's jersey,
(06:36):
is it sweaty? Is it not sweet. I mean, I'm
not gonna wear it like you put it up in
your house. But again, if it's sweaty, I don't know.
It just feels weird to me. Your former athlete one
does does does paraphernalia do anything for you? But then
as importantly, like especially in this jersey swap era, like
did were you too Are you too young for the jerseys?
(06:56):
Are you too old for the jersey swap era? I
hate to ask you in that, I'm not. I'm on
the cuffs. Sure.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
So there's a couple of situations where I did the
jersey swap after the game, former former teammates from college.
Sure we would do it because it was very personal.
Of course, I wasn't just doing it with any and everybody.
We didn't do that, but I do have a couple
that happened. And as far as memorabilia goes, I'm not
like huge on that. Definitely not going out to seek
(07:22):
and buy memorabilia, no, But I do have some cool memorabilia.
I have some signed gloves, Warren Gloves of Sugar Ray
Leonard the Boxer, So I had that, but it's just
sitting on my coffee table. It's collecting dust and I
probably shouldn't sit on the air. But that's how loose
with that. I am so with the jersey swap stuff. Yeah, okay,
(07:43):
so me and you played together. We're you know, we're
DBU at Louisville back in the day. You know, whatever
I play for the Ravens, you play for the Jets.
When I give you my jersey, what then becomes of it?
Do you get it framed? Like?
Speaker 1 (07:56):
How does that work?
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah? I got a couple of a couple of them framed.
I have a couple of them. I'm still in boxes
that I hate to say on the air live again,
but yeah, it just depends. I mean, I'm not like
I said, it's not a It's not like this thing
where I glorify it to the point of having to
have a whole room dedicated to it at all. But
I do get it done. I do take care of
most of them all right. By the way, we do
(08:18):
want to hear from the audience. Guys and girls driving
around you're getting off of work, are you a guy
a paraphernalia guy or girl? In other words, if you
had the money to spend or have you jev, is
there something that is a memento of your favorite team,
something of your favorite athlete that you love.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
We want to hear from. You can call in one
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. One eight seven
seven nine nine six six three six ' nine again
one eight seven seven nine nine six six three six
nine I apologize again. One eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox. Yeah, I just I'm fascinated by Yeah, that
(08:57):
process because you see the jersey swap. You don't know
what happened. Yeah, By the way, have you like kind
of a weird question, but has anything of yours ever
shown up online? And you're not, by the way, carry
roads people who are just tuning in Errtoris and carry
rhoads in Forced Covino and Rich Carrie of course, a
nine year NFL VET, as the intro told you, a
(09:19):
former All Pro safety. Has any of your stuff ever
shown up online? Like, oh, how did they get that
jersey or this or that? Absolutely? Yeah, yeah, no, we
were talking off the air. I thought that I saw
some gloves of mine that popped up online. And I
do before games a lot of time. When I played,
I was very personable with the fans, and so I
(09:40):
would throw stuff in the stands here and there, so
you never think that you're going to see this stuff
again or hear about it, and then you look online
and you see your gloves on sale for a penny,
and then.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
You're like, wow, that's pretty cool. Even though it's cheap,
it's still there. So somebody had the thought of keeping
it for a while. I'm done now, I'm a little
bit old. We're doing out of the way, and so
maybe I can make a couple of dollars on it.
No dollars, but you can make sense. Yeah, well all
my stuff.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah, all I'll say is we're on online before eBay.
Singapore has a pair of carry Roads gloves going for
like ninety bucks. So I don't know if you knew
you were as big in Singapore as apparently you are.
But they can't keep the Perry the carry Roads paraphernalia
on the shelves over there, so wow, how much is
it again? I think it was ninety bucks? Wow, ninety
(10:29):
bucks for a pair of gloves. And then there was
a separate piece of car carry roads paraphernalia that could
be paid for in four easy payments. I believe of
seventeen eighteen or seventeen twelve, I believe there. So so
your stuff is flying off the shelves. But yes, this
lebron James Jersey could go for one to two million
(10:49):
dollars and.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Come on, Aaron, So look, I go ahead. I got
a proposition for you. So you're not big into it,
you're not a guy that really cares about it. But
I'll tell you this right now. If you were the
one that bought the gloves, I would match it for you.
So if you bought the gloves, okay, I would actually
give you your money back. So I matched whatever you paid
(11:11):
for it. You just have the gloves and you'll make
one hundred dollars how about that for free? So so
you just paid me back, I would pay you. I
would pay you back, but you keep the glove as well,
so you won't be paying anything.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Are you?
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Just?
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Are you the one that's actually selling the gloves online?
Day've been sitting online for too long now, they've been
sitting on line for a while. You're like, I gotta
get these out of out of the house.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
You bust you busted me, now there you go?
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Oh man, no, no, no, no, I'm joking By again. One
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox one eight seven,
seven nine nine six six three six ' nine. We're
talking about paraphernalia jerseys Lebron James's chosen one jersey. Uh,
it is going to auction. They believe it could get
one to two million dollars. Yeah, it's funny. Like I
(11:54):
just I don't know what I like. I I cause
I because like the thing is is that even if
you got something cool, like what would you do with
you know, It's like you mentioned the sugar Ray Leonard gloves.
It's like, uh, I get you know, like and you know, listen,
I we live in California, so I live in a
very comfortable but it's it's still an apartment. It's not
(12:16):
like I have like a man cave, right, But I mean,
what would you even do with all of it? Like
it was funny. I remember reading a story a few
years ago. You left but O J. Simpson's heisman, Like
at some point it disappeared and some guy just had
it in his house, right, But it was like I
think it was property of USC and it had been
stolen from USC and like so this guy got it
(12:38):
off the black market. So it was like kind of
cool that you had it, but you couldn't really tell
anybody because then if you tell them, they'll know that
you have this stolen piece of property. So it's like,
I just don't know.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
I just it's just not my thing.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
You know. You just invite your your your drinking buddies
all I'm saying and say that's what I'm saying in
his room.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yeah, I don't know. It's just it's just it's not
my thing. And it's like, you know, I was thinking
about this is like and I will pay for experiences, right,
I mean, I you know, I'm a Yukon of lum.
I was covering the last two final fours. But in
twenty eleven, when I was dead broken, young and in
my early twenties, I still took money out of my
own pocket to go see them play. So it's not
(13:18):
like I'm a sports snob that's never going to spend
any money on anything. But it's just I just don't
know that that this is for me.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
You don't see the reason for it at all.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Yeah, I mean like look again, what's just like what
would when you got first of all, we're the what
was it? Sugar Ray Letter Sugarte Robinson Sugar letter. Yeah,
were they gifted to you?
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Do you know?
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Sugar Rell?
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Like, how did you end up gifted to me from
him personally? Yes? Oh well that's yeah. You got to
keep those. Yeah, I gotta keep them. They're there and
they're on display. Yeah, it's just not covered up in
the big gold and crusted thing or anything.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
It's just they're there. It's cool, I will say, Like,
I remember years ago I wrote an article back with
my in my writing days when I used to write
a lot, and it was a column on Alabama football
after they want one of their national championships. And somebody
I knew was friends with Nick Saban and they actually
gave him a copy of it printed out and he
actually autographed it. It's a really cool thing to have.
(14:10):
But I think about it now, it's just sitting in
a close, you know, in my closet, like just collecting
dust like you said so, but some people are into it.
We'd love to hear from you one eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox one eight seven seven nine nine
six six three six nine. Uh, take some of your calls,
continue this conversation in just one moment.

All right, carry, So we've been talking, uh and we've
it's been a theme of the show, but talking season
(16:01):
for both college football and the pros is finally almost over, thankfully.
You know what else is almost over? Off season? Anonymous
list season, and it feels like every day there's a
new player pull this GM poll that all these are
the best offensive tackles and guards and you know, ranking
the long snappers according to anonymous gms. It's like, on
(16:24):
the one hand, I'm tired of them. On the other hand,
on the other hand, great sports radio content for June, July,
and August when there's not as much going on. But
there was an interesting one today conducted by ESPN. They
interviewed anonymous players, and the players did a survey on
the most overrated you know, six different top quests, six
(16:48):
different questions pertaining to the state of the NFL.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
One of the questions was who do you believe is
the most over rated quarterback in the NFL today thirty
two starters. Josh Allen was voted the most overrated quarterback
in the NFL right Now. He received eleven of thirty
(17:15):
one votes. Jalen Hurts and his former backup at Alabama
to a Tongue of Iola, each got ten votes for
second place. Josh Allen, Yeah, most overrated quarterback in the NFL.
What is your take on that?
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Carry Rose, He's not the most overrated quarterback in NFL.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
He's close.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
I think that those top three names are pretty accurate. Sure,
And so as far as being overrated, that doesn't mean
they're bad, ladies and gentlemen. That just means overrated, overhyped.
Josh Allen has been a turnover machine, and so we
do know how good he is when he's right. But
you got to take into consideration all of that, right,
(17:55):
and so the publicity that he gets for being great,
he doesn't get as much of that for being bad.
And so I could see why certain players would choose that.
But my number one guy, oh, would have been Jalen Hurts.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
So it was really funny. So when I saw the headline,
the first headline was like, you know, and all these
websites aggregated and it was like a surprise player is
voted the most overrated quarterback.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
That's where you went.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
And I kid you not. My first thought was Jalen Hurts,
and I actually did think Josh Allen. We'll get back
to Josh Allen a second. So Jalen Hurts. I have
some thoughts. But why do you say that?
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Yeah, Jalen had a really great year the year they
went to the Super Bowl, called people by surprise, throwing
the ball really above I think his potential, his level.
You have some of those years. The next year he
came back and kind of regress. People called up to
what he did, how they wanted to play, and now
(18:53):
you have to yes, no shame, which is a big deal.
And now he has to read the field and learn
a new playbook and learn where those windows and what
over throws are. His release is a little long and slow.
It kind of that adds up to more interceptions and turnovers.
And we saw that a lot, and so for him,
I just didn't think he would be as good as
he was, and so to have that year and then
(19:15):
kind of regress to the mean, it just it seems
like that's where he should be.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
No, I agree with that. Exact evaluation is I don't
really know if Jalen Hurts is overrated, because like the
bar was so low, then it did feel like it
got a little too like, Okay, well he's not in
that top top, top tier, but he is good and
we'll see what happens with the with the new new
(19:40):
offensive staff with Kellen Moore. So my take with Josh
am I think it's a very interesting conversation and this
is kind of my perspective and I want you to
hear me out on this. So, first of all, it's
weird because I think he is both awesome, but I
also do think he sort of is the most overrated quarterback.
But here's my take on it. Is that why I
(20:02):
think he's overrated. First of all, Bills are the only
team in the history of sports that I can tell
that just keep getting credit for near wins. Yeah, like
at some point, like you have to win a meaningful
game and and it's such a cliche, but it's true.
The biggest win of Josh Allen's career is a close
(20:22):
lost to Patrick Mahomes. Like it's just I mean, what
is the definitive Josh Allen win.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
I hate to say it, but there isn't one. Now,
I will say, and maybe I'm being too nice here,
but I think a lot of it is on the staff.
I'm not a Sean mcdermock guy. I thought he should
have been out last year. I knew once they made
the playoffs. He want to be right. But that's one.
You know what my real what my real take on
Josh Allen is is this is that Patrick Mahomes is
actually so dominant that we want to put people on
(20:53):
his level so that we can be like, oh, who's Mahomes?
There is Mahomes is here and that everybody else is here,
and you can debate, is it Josh Allen to, is
it lamar To? Is it a healthy Joe Burrow when
he's healthy? Is he actually too? But so Josh Allen
is only overrated because we keep trying to put him
in the Patrick Mahomes category and there is no one
(21:15):
else in the Patrick Mahomes category.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Except for Patrick Mahomes. One hundred percent?
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Does that make sense?
Speaker 2 (21:18):
One hundred percent? Yes? And I think and you know
who's at fault with that, right, it's us media. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
I was gonna say, yeah, yeah, it's us, Like.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
We want to say how good he is, and we
want to glorify, you know, the things that he does.
That is that that does translate the magic on the field,
But when it comes to the turners or you know,
other guys at other networks who actually get to be
on TV and break these things down, refuse to talk
about that stuff.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
So sure it's us.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
And then as a player, you keep seeing this and
you know, and you're out there on the field and
you're competing against this guy, and you're like, wait a minute,
I'm actually going to do the opposite of what the
TV or the TV's reporting or the the it was
important about, right, Like I don't want to like this guy.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Sure of course no, And I think there is a
natural like players don't. But I think players are kind
of the same boat that I am. Is, like they
just don't like him because we're trying to crown him
something without him having done anything. But it doesn't not
make him a good player. When I was thinking about
when you said, who's to blame, it's the media. So
I have this theory is that there are some times
(22:25):
we're talking about the same thing over and over just
gets boring, and so you have to kind of come
up with these fake narratives that everybody knows aren't true
just to get people going. And so the one when
I realize this, so I'm a yukon of lum ukon.
Whatever basketball we don't have. This isn't a ucon basketball conversation,
I promise. But last year won thirty seven and three,
(22:46):
won a national championship, and like, within the like they
won the national championship, they lose three guys and you're like, oh,
they're not going to be as good this year. Within
like three games, you're like, oh, this team is awesome.
So first the conversation was are they as good as
last year? Then it's like, oh, yeah, no, they're definitely
as good as last year. Then it's like could they
possibly go back to back? And then it's like, well,
they can definitely go And then it was like, by January,
(23:06):
you just ran our stuff to talk about they're the
best team in the country. They might go back to back,
they might not, but we don't know. And then I
noticed it with other stuff, like think about the Anthony
Edwards stuff. Anthony Edwards wins one playoff series. This is
an audio I just stared at Carrie right there and
rolled my eyes because I love Anthony Edwards. I do
(23:27):
think what he said last week was dumb about Michael
Jordan's always got player, but that's another conversation. But it
was like it couldn't just be. It went from like
is Anthony Edwards like the next face of the NBA?
To is he maybe the best American born player right now?
To is he already the face of the NBA? Which
is idioty? Yeah, And then it was well, I mean,
(23:49):
you know, I don't want to say it, but you know,
I cover Jordan. He's starting to remind me of Marcael Trump,
and it's like, can you maybe win like I don't know,
like two NBA titles before we start parenting to Michael Jordan.
Guy went six for six, Yes, Anthony Edwards. Anthony Edwards
won one playoffs series that people are like, well, I mean,
you know, I mean it got it. I'm not saying
he's Jordan, but I'm not not saying it either. It's like, right,
(24:12):
maybe just not not say it. But I feel like
that's where we are with Mahomes is, Like, you know,
right now, Mahomes is on another level. The only real
debate on Mahomes is will he one day have a
resume that surpasses Brady And so it's like there's no
other conversation to have, so we have to make up
these conversations like, oh, you know, I mean if Josh Allen, uh,
(24:35):
you know, it's like Josh Allen's really good and so
like that's where I think there is something to this conversation,
is like he's really good, but we keep trying to
anoint him because we're so bored with Mahomes just beating
the brakes off of everybody in January and February when
the games count.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Yes, it's hundred percent right with that take, and it's uh,
it does become annoying. It becomes annoying to me to
hear it. So even you talk about like Anthony Yew
was thing right, like that's annoying. But yeah, when you
see these poles though, these poles are always kind of
fishy and always going to rub somebody the wrong way,
and it's just part of the sports world. And then
(25:13):
the fact that a Buffalo I think Buffalo Network or
I think paper or site picked up the story and
ran with it a whole big deal of it Like
it's that like where this could have died down. Possibly
it could have just been another anonymous pole, but then
somebody else gives it legs and then this is what happens.
We're talking about it on radio. So now it's a
real thing.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
No, it's let me ask you this, I mean, like
where So first of all, do you like the cliche?
But you're starting a franchise tomorrow. Mahomes is off the board.
Is Josh Allen still your guy at number two?
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Or no?
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Who would it be? Oh at number two, my guy
would be Lamar Jackson. Okay, yeah, fair enough, y Yeah,
right now. I mean he's going to be in the
top three four quarterbacks for a while. Sure he's not
going anywhere, but like you said, there's it's levels to it,
it's tears to it in him. And Mahomes is not
even heading shoulders above the rest. He's I mean, he's
(26:06):
a full body length ahead of the rest. And so
that's just where we are. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
No, it is interesting and it is wild how how
we got here with with Josh Allen most overrated, most
overrated quarterback because he's not, but he sort of is.
Tell you what I do have one other actually AFC
East topic that I want to get to you with,
get with you on carry really quick. Before we do, though,
(26:31):
let's get at Isaac Low and Crown on the news
desk with what is trending? Go ahead, Isaac, the floor
is yours heron and carry.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
We got some drama going on as we speak in
the NFL San Francisco forty nine Ers General manager John
Lynch child reporters within the last half hour that he
expected hold in receiver Brandon Auk to return to practice
today and that Auk has been medically cleared to return
to practice for good measure. Lynch then added, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Going to get into our communication again, but you know
there's a you know at some point you got play fellas.
Oh I got takes on this forgetting Robert Salah. He's
getting kicked to the back burner because I want to
talk a little bit about Brandon Ayukra here.
Speaker 6 (27:15):
Forty nine Ers practice has just gotten underway. Has Auk
been spotted on the practice field yet? The answer would
appear to be no, he is not on the practice
field yet, and practice has been underway for the last
(27:35):
twenty five minutes. The drama continues but John Lynch definitely
laying down the gauntlet. Earlier this afternoon, Steelers head coach
Mike Tomlin named Russell Wilson their starting quarterback over justin
Fields baseball. Houston Astros pitcher Spencer Arraghetti had a no
hitter going for seven innings today at Philadelphia, but it
was broken up by an infield single leading off the eighth.
(27:58):
The Astros right now have a ten to nothing lead.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Araghetti wound out,
striking out eleven in seven to two thirds innings. Houston's
youor don Oliverarez, by the way, hit three home runs
in this game. Finally, tonight it will be show Hey
o Tani bobblehead Night at Dodger Stadium when they host
the Orioles. The reason I'm telling you this is that
because the bobbleheads are only going to be given out
(28:19):
to the first forty thousand fans in attendance, and hundreds
of fans actually began lining up on foot to get
into the Dodger Stadium parking lot at eleven o'clock this morning.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
This goes to our Merchandise is conversation, and eight.
Speaker 6 (28:35):
Hours hours before game time, the parking lot itself opened
a short time ago. Social media photos Aaron and Carry
have emerged of fans running in a dead sprint from
the parking lot gate to the gates of the stadium itself,
a distance of nearly half a mile. The fans mindset
(28:55):
apparently captured on social media by at Alexis five, who
posted quote, gonna fight for my life at Dodger Stadium
for a damn bobblehead unquote back to you.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Hold the babbleheads. It's ways of the funny. I have
a bubblehead. I can bring you.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Carrie Roads bubblehead. Yes, didn' get anybody, but if you
if we announced this today, yeah, what time are you?
And Dan Byron on Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
We're Sunday two to five two pm to five pm
Pacific standard time.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Do you think people start lining up eight hours ahead
of time six am Pacific outside the Fox Sports radio
studios if you were giving them away?
Speaker 2 (29:31):
I think at the show started at two o'clock, they
would get here at two fifteen.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Wow, okay, okay, just and they made the wrong turn. Yeah,
they actually going to the yoga studio next door. Yeah, yeah,
right right next door for sure. You know what's actually
really funny about that is that I heard oh show
heo Tony biblehead night and I was like, I haven't
been to a Dodgers game in probably like a year
and a half. Sorry, Burch, don't get mad at me.
And I was like, you know, I'm not really doing
anything tonight. This weekend is gonna be crazy with college football.
(29:57):
Maybe I should go over. And then I heard, you know,
people are lining up since eleven am. So probably won't
probably probably not going to Dowdger Stadium straight from here.
You're going to make a detour. I was thinking about
bit about it. Yeah, but no, probably probably not going
to now, not gonna lie. People will line enough for
eight hours. I'll just go home and have a cold
one really quick. Brandon Ayuk. So I find the Brandon
Nyuk thing so interesting. Yeah, and I never really understood
(30:22):
why the forty nine ers had to do something this
season one more year on his rookie contract, franchise tag
year and the thing like that. People forget he's twenty six,
twenty seven years old, whatever. He's a young guy, but
he's not super young. Yeah, and he hasn't made his
money yet, and so you listen, you know this space
better than I do. But it's not like he's Trent
(30:43):
Williams that can just say, you know what, I'm gonna
kick my feet up, this is my number and if
you don't give it to me, I ain't shown up.
And I got Trent Williams whatever. He's got forty to
fifty million in the bank. Brandon Ayuk hasn't made that
big check yet, so he can't just sit out and
not get paid. So I've never understood this idea that
they had to pay him. And it sounds like, according
to Isaac's updates, as I look for more details, as
(31:05):
I want to toss it over to you, carry sounds
like the forty nine ers kind of said enough is enough.
We let you try to find a trade partner. You
didn't want to go to New England. He didn't want
to go some other places. Are you playing or are
you're not playing? It's put up or shut up time.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
Yeah, it's a very interesting, uh situation. You hit the
nail on the head. I mean, he hasn't gotten paid yet,
so it's one of those situations where do you want
to get paid really close to the number you want
and be on a successful team that has a chance
to win the Super Bowl or go to another team.
I think that has already been entered. He does not
want to go to another team, so he wants to
(31:39):
win the options. The windows have closed on, you know,
being able to be sent out somewhere and finding a
trade partner that's going to actually re up and give
them the number he wants. So now San Francisco Fields,
they have the leveraged. So now you'll see a situation
where the GM lanch will come out and say this
now at this point, so the timing is kind of PERI.
(32:00):
But for you, I want him to get paid. I
want him to show up and play ball, man. And
it's it is hard to say that because I am
a player and I want him to get paid. But
he's not gonna get the number that he wants right now,
and so he'll be close and also have a chance
to win a championship. And I think that's important too.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Well that's what I was gonna say, is like there's
nobody that like doesn't want that, Like nobody's out there like,
don't pay the guy. He's a bomb, right, But it's
like I don't know, I just I do feel like
sometimes guys see other guys and they you know, you
and I were talking maybe on air, maybe off their
but talking about the social media world that we live
in where it's this constant comparison and what do they say,
(32:37):
comparison is to the thief of Joy, and I just I
wonder if he's been sitting around saying, well, I I
did this and I and it's like I get it,
but again, you still have two years left that you
could be under the forty nine ers control. Ye, you're
gonna what's the number for I think it's like fourteen
million that he's gonna make. It's not like he's making
chump change. It's like he wants that, you know, closer
(32:58):
to what CD got. And I know, I know, no.
I think even he knows he's not getting CD money.
He's not getting Justin Jefferson money. Ye, but like y'a
are still making fourteen million. And it's also just like
I don't know, it's just I just find it so
interesting because like, I think we're conditioned in the media
that the franchise like that the player always is going
(33:20):
to get his way, and I think in the case
of a CD lamb, I think in the case of
a Jamar Chase, I think in the case of a
Trent Williams, I think you could. But I think every
exten I think every situation is different, and I don't
think that that that like I just I guess what
I'm trying to get to is I never understood this
idea that you had to pay him this year. By
the way, his salary for twenty twenty four is projected
(33:40):
to be fourteen point one million dollars.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Yeah, it's hard. I mean I was in that situation
when I was a player, right, I'm in a division
with Troy, Paul Maalou ed Reid, and Bob Sanders, and
I see the numbers. My numbers are comparable. We're around
the same. I'm they're Pro Bowl guys. I'm the Pro
Bowl ar Altonate all those years and so similar Brandon
and so you see these situations, you want your worth, yeah,
(34:04):
of course, and you want to get paid that way.
And so going through the negotiations, for me, it's what's
what's important. Is the number annually important or is the
money guaranteed important? And so that's where I broke it down.
Their numbers may have been a little bit more than mine,
but the guaranteed number I actually made more than them.
Oh wow, And so like trying to take that read exactly,
(34:26):
So trying to figure out those those little things. I'm
sure there's something there that can be had or to
remedy this situation, Like just the fine define details of
those contract negotiations is obviously we wouldn't know those, but
that would that would be what I would want to know.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
Yeah, it is interesting. Brandon Ayuk again as as ISAAC
just told us they were expecting him at practice today
as of about five minutes ago the latest updates, we
are not sure if he has actually shown up. Managing
staff for your supply chain is complex. Let Express Employment

Carrie Rhodes filling in for Covino and Rich. Covino and
Rich were in for Colin Cowherd earlier today. If you
missed the fellas, they can catch them on podcast of
the Colin Cowherd Show.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Aaron I was about to say, I'm sure they missed him,
but I hope they had a good time with us today.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
A great sick Yeah you think they did.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
I was Sam good.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
I was Sam. It's very happy. Yeah, Ryan and Rich? No,
go ahead, Ryan, what you think? How was it today? Great? Phenomenal,
excellent on a scale one to ten, like a nine
and a half, you'd say, go full ten. Oh, this
is great.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
We learned a lot. I learned about the jersey swap
in the NFL. You know something you never know. I mean,
it's not like, you know, when Bush and I have
a good show, I'm like ripping off my T shirt
and saying, here, take this home with you. That's not
how that's not how our business works.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
So he's going to put it in the closet though, yeah,
we are, or give it to someone else.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
We won't say it's an unnamed former NFL player. But
he was given a frame jersey and after after a
collected dust in his house is his fiance told him
get rid of this thing. We got a you know,
we got a wedding certificate to put up to frame
on this wall. And so he tried to sell it
to the local memorabilia store and they said, no, we're good, Yeah,
(36:59):
we're good. Yeah, we don't even want the frame either. Yeah, no,
we don't want the frame. So but we won't we
won't say which former athlete was. We also learned Kerry
Rhoads big in Singapore eBay dot com slash sg that
is the Singapore eBay. You can get a pair of
Kerry Rhoads game worn gloves for I think it was
(37:20):
like eighty five ninety bucks.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
So I don't know what they're doing with that, but yeah, what.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Else we got? So we know Josh. So we both
think Josh Allen is both overrated and underrated. We're both
excited for Dion and year two Louisville's winning the National
championship in football per carry Roads. Yeah, you don't trust,
you don't believe in your team anymore. Okay, that's what
it sounds like to me.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
I believe, I believe.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
Is there any college game that you're really excited about
this week? We got Miami at Florida, we got Notre
Dame at A and M Sunday night, USC versus LSU
and Vegas. I was gonna try to go love Vegas,
but I I worked until Saturday at eleven. It would
have been a quick turnaround.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
USC LSU was interesting.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
It is.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
It's you don't see that that often at all. You
don't see that matchup. So that'll be a big one.
Where's it at Vegas? It's in Vegas.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Yes, that future site.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
That's gonna be crazy.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
I know sold out, uh the reports where Lincoln Riley
was trying to get out of that game. But it'll
be interesting. I mean people, people, you know. Obviously we
know Caleb Williams isn't there anymore. Obviously, LSU lost Jaydon
Daniels and to two just star wide receivers from elite neighbors.
Not to criticize you, not to strays for Daniel Jones,
(38:36):
but like I think when Malik Nighbors gets a real quarterback,
We're gonna see like that dude is really really really good.
Oh yeah, I mean I, me and Uh are our
buddy here V J. Husky, who does the show before me.
We got into a little debate because all I said
was Bleak Neighbors was a better college receiver last year
than Marvin Harrison. Now he obviously had a better quarterback
throwing to him. Uh, And I didn't say. I didn't
(38:58):
say Marvin Harrison was better. I just said I didn't
say that Melik Neighbors was better than Marvin Harrison. I
just said that Melik Neighbors as a college player last
year was better. So it's gonna be fun NFL season.
As we said a week away, I cannot wait any
other big games in Week one outside of that Thursday
night game, and obviously the Friday night game too is
kind of interesting. Anything that really stands out to you
(39:19):
heading into Week one. I mean, there's of course so much.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
I'll tell you. I'm gonna tell you the one and
you know it. You know it's one.
Speaker 6 (39:24):
It is.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
If it's not the Ravens and Chiefs game, what game
do you think. I'm very very much.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
You're going up to San Francisco Monday night. You and
Brandon I you are gonna be sitting in the States.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
We're gonna be there together.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
But by the way, we got about ninety seconds real quick, Jets,
Yeah buying, are selling this year?
Speaker 2 (39:42):
I'm buying.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
I am two.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
Yeah, I'm buying. They're gonna win that division. Oh and yeah,
they're gonna they're gonna be a threat to make the
super Bowl this year. Wow, what gives you so much confidence?
I mean, they got top five roster. I don't know
if people really understand that, but they really do. And
then you have a healthy Aaron Rodgers on top of that.
He can stay upright. I mean, the guy wins eighty
percent of his game.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
So people don't realize the schedule breaks very nicely for them.
They have they play I looked up three t outside
of the division, obviously Bill's Dolphins. Three teams that made
the playoffs a year ago. Total one is Week one
against San Francisco, which we know San Francisco as much
as a Super Bowl runner up can be a mess.
Probably know Trent Williams, probably no Brandon ayuk uh. And
(40:23):
then you get the Rams later in the year at home,
you get the Texans, but I mean it's a very
manageable schedule.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
And the other thing on top of that is this
year they have a contingency plan at the quarterback position.
Oh if Aaron gets hurt, Tyrod Taylor can play well.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
I gotta trash my boy, Tim Boyle former UK Husky
like that man. All Right, we gotta go. I want
to thank the crew Iowa, Sam Producer bersch Isaac Low
and Crown for Kerry Rhodes. I'm are Torres, Coveno and
Rich If you missed them, they were on with Colin Cowherd,
so we appreciate them. Coming up next, the odd Couple.
It's gonna get extra O today, Fox Sports Radio
