Scripture:Mark 6:14-15 - Now King Herod heard of Him, for His name had become well known. And he said, "John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him." Others said, "It is Elijah." And others said, "It is the Prophet, or like one of the prophets." Transcript:And now, Admonition, brought to you by the Collierville Church of Christ.Others said, "This is Elias." There were many who believed that the works of Jesus were being done by different individuals. Jesus would ask his apostles, who do men say that I am? And some of them believed that he was Elijah come back from the dead. The book of Malachi, tells us that Elijah would return, it prophesied his return. Now Jesus will correct his disciples understanding and they would be told that it would be John the Baptist who came as the representative of Elijah. But here's the important point. They all believed these things were true about Jesus. We need to be careful that when we interpret the Prophets, we interpret them correctly, and in view of what the new testament writers tell us about those prophets. For more from the Collierville Church of Christ, visit Colliervillecoc.org.
