ADPNet calls itself "a distributed digital preservation network for locally created digital content" built on LOCKSS ("Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe") software with an iteration (node) at each member institution. ADPNet began in 2006 with an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant to the Network of Alabama Academic Libraries (NAAL).
