the College on Sports podcast and College Basketball Coast to
Coast Happy Saturday night. A lot to go over on
the live program, How are things one more.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Day of the football season? That it is nothing but
the race to selection Sunday?
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Amen, we believe it or not. We are five weeks
away from Selection Sunday, about to be here, not immediately,
but we can see it in the distance. Can't smell
it or taste it yet, but you can see it
in the distance. Thank you for finding us again. We

handle as well. And if you're hearing us after the
fact on Sunday in podcast form. Make sure to be
with us on Saturday nights when we go live on
all the platforms. But some of you may be hearing
us after the fact on all the podcasts. Out Let's
(01:20):
just search college basketball coast to coast on Apple's Preaker, Spotify,
et cetera. I love all the insight. In a few moments,
Adam Zagoria will be here from NJ dot com and
the Zags Blog. Jason, he was in the house for
Saint John's in the win over Yukon. He'll give a
first hand account of that, just as a quick side
from you. How I mean, how impressive was that from
(01:41):
the Johnnies As they get to twelve and one in
the Big East are we are going back.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
To nineteen eighty five, Louis Carnaseca, Mull and Walter Berry. Incredible,
Tim great, Great to have Saint John's back in the
national spotlight, back in the mix, back and being a
major a factor on the East Coast because it's with
Patim know just all the drama Carnaseca passing away, just
a great, great story.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
New York City very much alive and electric for Saint
John's basketball really for the first time, and like we're
going on twenty five plus years that they've been this
good this late in the season, only his second year there.
So Adam's gonna talk a lot about that we should
not bury the lead real quick. Duke was beaten tonight
by Clemson in a close battle. Cooper Flagg did not
(02:29):
have a good first half, but came on. Good Lord
did he come on in the second half. Yet Clemson
made the plays, Jason made the free throws, got a
key stop. We're gonna talk to Adam about this, but
I want your thought real quick. When Flag lost his
footing on the floor, that wasn't the whole game, but
it was big and Clemson against the win over Duke,
they're unbeaten ACC season no more after twelve straight wins.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Jason powers and when you.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Look at the a SEC standings, Clemson's Clemson's won eleven
and two, ten and two or eleven and two, and
they're right, had a terrific year. And I know that
ACC's quote unquote down a little bit, but give Brad
Brown now credit. This guy's survived a lot of years
at Clemson. He's had to, you know, battle building that program.
The administration has given him time and he has been
(03:14):
a He has done a really if you really look
at his resume the last seven eight years at Clemson,
he's done a really good job.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
They made the Elite Eight. Last year.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Alabama denied them the Final four in the Elite Eight
game with a couple of the upsets that they had.
So that's a solid job. And again, Duke's win streak
goes by the wayside. We'll talk more with Adam Zagori
about that in a moment. And did I say win
streak goes by the wayside?
Speaker 2 (03:36):
How about Auburn? My hand is up. Who had this?
Not me? I?
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I thought Auburn was going to block Florida down and
win again in their jungle on the planes instead the Gators.
Did they put a ninety burger? What was the final
of that game? Did they put a ninety burger on
the best defense?
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Right now?
Speaker 1 (03:59):
In calla basketball? I believe they did quick thought on that.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
And they basically led that game from wire to wire.
I was listening to the game on the radio to
the Florida broadcast. They were in control of that game
for much of that game. And you know, when you
really look at this Florida team. This team might be
top three or four in the country. I mean, I
know they're six, but I'm talking about they are a
serious threat now to win a national title. With the
golden stuff kind of over there over their head here,
(04:26):
that's been resolved a little bit. For the most part,
this Florida team is dangerous. Twenty two assists today, thirteen threes.
Look out for the Gators.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah, no doubt that they have experience.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Elijah Martin, the former Final four player with Florida Atlantic
a couple of years ago, he's transferred the right He
didn't even play. Clayton was back off an ankle injury,
who didn't play against Vanderbilt and their their bigs can score.
And again it's one thing to be scoring a bunch
in the SEC, but to score a bunch at Auburn
(04:59):
with that defense, and that's a game again that finishes
a nine point game. They led by twenty two at
one point. Florida impressive performances. They stop Auburn's win streaks.
So the whole debates on about who's the number one team, etc.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Reeves. Who would have thought the basketball powers of college
basketball would be in the state of Alabama.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Yeah, Alabama and Auburn for sure.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Alabama, by the way, in progress, was leading by as
many as eighteen in the second half at Arkansas final
three and a half minutes and Alabama only leads by
eight here. So Arkansas has played hard. John Calipari's team.
Of course, the back to back wins over Kentucky and
(05:43):
then midweek over Texas, so two impressive road wins. And
is Alabama maybe on the verge of coughing up an
eighteen point second half lead. It's now six after a
flying dunk by Arkansas late in the game, and they've
gotten another stop and gotten the ball back. Alabama clearly
rattled here. The talk on the broadcast has been with
(06:04):
the Auburn and the Duke loss. While we do this
live again on the podcast, you know the outcome, and
we'll know the outcome here in a little bit. Was
Alabama going to take over the number one spot? Well,
Arkansas just bombed in a three and it's now a
three point game with under three minutes to go.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
As the rally is on.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
I don't know what this run is, but it's it's
something close to eight nothing or ten nothing to get
them back in the game down three in the final
three minutes. Will keep you posted on that, but it
makes you wonder if Auburn might remain the number one
team with Duke has lost and Alabama doesn't hang on
to this lead late in the game.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Thought on that, No, I mean Bud.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Walton arena, man, that's why they brought Caliperian to get
that arena jumping. They give them credit. You made a
great point. They've played hard the last two and a
half weeks or so, played much better, more of a
team effort. You know Boogie Flann has done for the year.
He you know they've seen the galvan I since he left.
And you're right, I don't know what is the Polsters do?
Who's the number Who's the number four rated team.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
In the country? And that's a good and that's a
good question.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
On the topsy Turvy, Florida. Maybe it's Florida and Houston
was five coming into play today and they won. So
is it them? Is it somebody else up near the
top right now? The top twenty five. We'll see our
(07:26):
buddy Chris.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Chris Stewart's got a Maylock's moment the last three minutes
here on the.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Call, yes, indeed, so we'll keep you up to date
on that. Again, it's College Basketball Coast to Coast. We're
live on the platforms YouTube, Facebook, Twitter. While we kind
of peek at the end of this, let's get some
more insight on the Duke defeat. And again, Adam Zagoria,
our insider, was there for the Saint John's when I
want the the feeling from inside Gamble Pavilion as the
(07:52):
Johnnys have done what they have done. Let's go to
a conversation Jason Powers that I had with Adam just
a little earlier this evening on all of these subjects
here on College Basketball Coast to Coast And as promised
here he is Adam Zagori, our insider inj dot Com
(08:12):
as well as the Zags Blog.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
What a win for Clemson in the upset.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
As we have mentioned here at the beginning of the show,
they derailed Duke and they're what eighteen game win streak
goes by the boards. What a performance by them, Adam,
welcome Clemson making all the free throws at the end.
Controversial little moment where Cooper Flag slipped in a key
situation down two on the floor that had not been
(08:38):
wiped up by the Clemson staff. I know the Dukeys
are going to complain about that, but hey, there were
still plays to be made. After that, Clemson made the plays,
made the foul shots. So welcome in and Duke goes
by the board in that matchup we just watched earlier tonight.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Yeah, I think it was a sixteen game winning streak
if I'm not mistaken. But either way, it was a
lot of It was a lot of games in a row,
and it was I mean, look, the number one ranking
was there for Duke to take because you know, Auburn
lost earlier today to Florida, which has now beaten the
number one team twice this season. So if Cooper Flag
(09:13):
and Duke had taken care of business, you know, they
would have been the number one on Monday. It was
unfortunate there that Cooper slipped on the you know, sweat
or perspiration on the court, whatever it was, and you know,
he cramped at the end of the game. He struggled,
and anyway, it's a huge win for Clemson and Brad
(09:34):
Brown now and now it seems like if Alabama takes
care of business against Arkansas, Alabama will be number one.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Looks like it will be that way and again for
flag only four points in the first half. Hit hit
two big shots late in the game, as you mentioned
with the cramps, but the story was more Clemson.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
How about this.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
This is the fifth straight time they played a top
five team that includes Duke and have won all of
those games, and that includes in the NCAA Tournament on
last year. So give them credit. You mentioned the Auburn
loss to Florida. Are we at the stage right now
in college basketball where we just have to expect the
unexpected even when these teams are rolling along. Auburn had
(10:13):
won fourteenth straight, They're at home, and Florida put it
on them. Just as a general comment, anything goes right now,
even up at the top. You can't say that it's
a it's a guarantee, even at home, right in conference play?
Speaker 4 (10:26):
Yeah, well two things. I mean one, I think people
are sleeping on Florida a little bit just because you
know they're not maybe Auburn or Alabama brandwise or whatever.
But they've now beaten the number one team twice. They'd
beat Tennessee earlier and now they've beaten Auburn on the road.
(10:47):
Florida is a legit, you know, final four type team.
Walter Clayton, the guard who transferred from i Oonna played
for Rick Patino at Iona. Had a tremendous game today,
big time game. And you know number two the sec
is just it's brutal man any night, anything could happen.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Very true. Well put on that.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
I love the inside of Adam Zagoria, who was in
the house. But the Saint John's win at Yukon better
than me. Try to set it up. How impressive was
that in person, especially down the stretch of the game,
with the way they guarded, et cetera. And the Johnnies
get the win over the two time champs. What did
you see?
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Yeah, I mean look, going into gamble, you know, on
the campus at Yukon is a hostile environment. It was cold,
there was a lot of you know, fans there. They
were all drinking, they were into it. And you know,
Dan Hurley had beaten Rick Bettino four times in a
row before this game, once in the NCAA tournament when
(11:47):
Yukon beat Iona two years ago, and then Yukon beat
Saint John's three times last year. Although I went second.
I'm letting my dog in this room because she's barking
at here.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
This is part of the College Basketball Coast to Coast
Live show. We even got a shot of the dog
when you pound the camera down. I love it that
the dog makes an appearance here on the show. But
you mentioned Hurley had had some mastery over Patino, and
do you think that motivated him a little more on
this or not a big deal because Patino is who
he is and he's a yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
I don't think that factors into it. Do I think,
you know Rick enjoys getting that win? Yes, I do.
I mean, you know, Yukon dominated the first five or
ten minutes of the game. They made four out of
their first seven threes, and then Saint John's went to
a full court press in the second half. They forced
I think twenty two turns and scored eighteen points off
(12:39):
the turns. You know, the good news is you kind
of got Liam McNeely back. He played well. I think
he had eighteen for Yukon. But their point guard play
is a little suss now. As the kids say, Hassan
diarras you know injured. He had I think six turnovers.
Ah Mad Noel the rushman didn't play. So Danny said
(13:02):
after the game he's optimistic going forward, and you know
that he has to figure out another ball handler or two.
But you know they do have a month to get
Liam back integrated. But the fact is they're you know,
they're just not the team they were last year with
r Donovan Klingen and those NBA guys. Saint John's meantime,
has won ten in a row. They're up to like
(13:24):
a four seed in the bracketology and you know they
they're legit.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
And defensively, this is old school mid range offense, defense, lockdown.
This is like nineteen eighties and nineties basketball at times,
is it not? Again, you had a first hand look
at it.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
Yeah, I mean, look, Saint John's is not a team
that shoots the ball great. They don't have any great,
you know, three point shooters. But Dan Hurley afterwards talked
about their physicality, their rebounding. Rick talked about how he
went to the press. You know, they've got a lot
of older veteran guys Kadari Richmond, Davon Smith, Zubi, edge
(14:04):
of four.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
R J.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Lewis is starting to look like an NBA prospect, and
they you know, after not having a ranked win all season,
they beat Marquette and Yukon back to back this week.
Saint John's is going to get Villanova on Wednesday. Yukon's
got a huge game at Crayton on Tuesday. Creighton, we
haven't talked about here. TJ has quietly wont nine in
(14:27):
a row after beating Marquette today. So at the top
of the Big East you've got Saint John's winners of
ten in a row and Creighton nine in a row.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Good point.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
They did beat Marquette earlier today seventy seven sixty seven.
Just as one more general comment, I mean, this looks
like the Big East tournament. This is what they want.
Could go any one of about four or five different
directions right now. With the way Saint John's and Creighton
have played as of late, we got a long way
to go. We still got a month ago before that tournament.
But it appears to be four or five teams could
(14:58):
easily you could make the case to win the right.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Yeah, it's it's gonna be.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
You know, Saint John's, Creighton, Marquette and Connecticut are the
four best teams. Seating will be really important. I mean,
if it's Saint John's as the one and Yukon as
the four, they could potentially meet in the in the
semis and also for in terms of NCAA tournament seating.
You know, I think Saint John's if they win the
(15:23):
regular season and say, get to the finals of the
Big East Tournament. You know, now you're talking about maybe
they're a three seed. Maybe they stay in the East
Region and play the East regionals in Newark and New Jersey.
So you could have Cooper Flag and Duke in New Jersey,
could have Saint John's there. Wow, maybe Kansas and or Kentucky.
(15:44):
So you know, that could be a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Could be.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
This guy is always a lot of fun. I know
you've been busy. He's riding all about the Big East
and more at NJ dot com as well as the
Zags Blog and plenty of recruiting there. Just one more plug.
Plenty of recruiting as well at the Zags blog right
and keeping up with all these top recruits. Any tip
here off the weekend about any of the recruits.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
Just that we have the Metro Classic in New Jersey,
which is a big event in New Jersey, and Dan
Hurley and Kamani Young after the Connecticut game last night,
were slated to go see Darius Adams tonight. He's a
class of twenty twenty five guard committed to ucon so
they were going to go check him out on Saturday night.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
So look out for that player for Adams, the high
school star.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Listen.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
I always love your insight as we progress along here
now in February March not too far away, and the
more we watch, the less we know, especially up at
the top, and we love it. Adam Zagoria, thank you,
We appreciate it as always on College Basketball Coast to Coast,
talk to you, sent TJ. All right again, Adam with
(16:50):
us earlier tonight. Appreciate his time and his insight. We
are live now, live live on College Basketball Coast to
Coast and the nightcap on the platforms on YouTube, on Facebook,
as follow Twitter. All right, mister Powers, let's catch everybody up.
You and I were kind of peaking at this while
(17:11):
the Adam conversation was playing. Arkansas has not only gotten
within striking distance, they've got the ball with a chance
to tie with a three late in the game. Give
me some analysis on how the last two or three
minutes it played out.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
No, just Arkansas has played defense. They had They were
down three with about thirty five thirty eight seconds left played,
played a possession of defense. Alabama missed the three, they
called time out here, looks like they got about seven
seconds to go in the game, got the ball at
half court. Question is, if you're Alabama, do you foul?
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Absolutely, you do.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
You grab whomever it is, especially as soon as they
start to make any kind of move towards the basket here,
you have to do that.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
It's proven time and again.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
So by the way, about about the minute and a
half mark, did you see Grant Nelson catch the rebound
on the air ball? Look like you traveled. Looked like he.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Hope that a little extra hopping lah No call there,
all right, So again you and I will peek at
the end with Arkansas inbounding down eighty three to eighty
and seven seconds left, and Alabama does grab big.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Z visitch for the foul.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
And so now the strategy becomes, does Arkansas make the two.
There's five seconds or thereabouts. They're gonna probably look at
the clock. So that's plenty of time to try to
get a steal and if not, foul Alabama and have
one more chance at the very end. So again, this
was an Alabama if you're just joining us. This was
an Alabama eighteen point lead in the second half. They've
(18:38):
led comfortably the whole way until the final four minutes
or so, when it was a twelve to two Arkansas
run that got them close. They're currently down three, shooting
two free throws, and Big Z has bricked the first
free throw. So now you gotta now you got to
basically as we do this on the fly, you got
to miss the second one on purpose here to try
(19:01):
to grab the ball and shoot the three.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
You can't play the free.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Throw game now, even down two, because Alabama can go
ice it at the other.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
End with five seconds left.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
So I will say this, Alabama has let Arkansas back in,
but Arkansas has played hard and made the plays.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Give Caliberry's team credit.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Valion effort by Arkansas winner lose. This is a good
This is a continued good, good work here by Arkansas. Caliperry.
This will be a dangerous team in the SEC tournament
as we move forward. You know, if they could somehow
get to seven and you know, eight and ten in
the conference, they probably could get a bit. If they
could get to eight and ten.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
They still have a rough part of their schedules. Still
gotta play Auburn, still gotta play Texas, A and M etc.
All right, So he did make the second free throw
to make it a two point game, and.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Alabama inbounded him was foul.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Will keep you up to date on what happens with
the free throws with four and a half seconds left.
Up two Alabama possibly to be the number one team
come Monday in the eightp pole with the Auburn loss
and the Duke loss. If Arkansas somehow some way to
Deni's this, then, is.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Auburn gonna remain the number one team? That's a great argument.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Will will update you on whatever happens here, as that's
the most prominent game going on right now. Number three
Alabama playing at Arkansas up to in the waning seconds
with former USF transfer Chris Youngblood, a Tuscaloosa native, the
transfer at the line. He's made the first and now
this can ic the game to go up by four
(20:30):
with under five seconds left if he makes the second.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
One.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Young Blood led that USF team to the amazing regular
season title in the American Conference. Jason, we were all
around this in Tampa last year, but he missed the
second free throw and Arkansas fumbles the ball out of
bounds as we do this on the fly, and it's
Alabama ball up three with three seconds left. They're gonna
have to foul them as soon as they inbound the
(20:53):
ball or the game's gonna be over. Evisich had a
chance at the rebound and fumble it while being contested
out of bounds, and Alabama appears appears on the verge
of surviving here in the waning seconds in this SEC
showdown at Fayetteville at bud Walt Marina, Jason yep.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Uh quick comment about what Adam said about Saint John's
How how interesting is it that Patino's team not a
good three point shooting team, who we know he loves
to shoot the three, A gritty, just grinded out kind
of defensive team. Interesting that Patinos is winning that way
with the mid range game, and that that's not the
(21:32):
analytics of college basketball these days.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
And they're not a very good free throw shooting team either.
They have been, They've been poor at times, and so
we'll wait and see, uh if that comes back to
bite them in March. But you can't argue with what
we've what we've now seen was that nine in a
row or ten in a row for them, which maybe
the law.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
They and Creighton may have the longest.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Creighton nine in a row and I believe Saint John's
now has ten in a row after the win twelve
and one. They've never been twelve and one in the
Big East. That eighty five Final four team started eight
and one in the Big East and Syracuse beat them
in the tenth game to go eight and two. Chris Mullen,
Mark Jackson, like you mentioned Walter Berry, that team went
(22:17):
all the way to the Final Four though, as the
Big East regular season champs.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
So again that's Saint John's.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
With the win at Yukon, they validate the win over
Marquette earlier in the week by beating Yukon. At Yukon,
out of the time out, Alabama gets the ball in
and Chris Youngblood I believe, is fouled again with one
second left and that's going to all but end the
game for the Crimson Tide to survive and will they
be the new number one team?
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Coming up?
Speaker 1 (22:43):
It is college basketball Coast to Coast TJ Reeves Jason
Powers with you as this Saturday night cap continues live.
If you're hearing us after the fact in podcast form.
We do this live on Saturdays on the social media
platforms of college basketball Coach on YouTube, on Facebook, on Twitter.
(23:04):
Thank you for finding us and engaging with us. Make
some comments if you're seeing us on YouTube, if you're
seeing us on Facebook or on Twitter, we'll see the
comments as people are weighing in. And we have been
talking about Saint John's being the new beast of the
Big East right now. Creighton also a contender.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
About about crighton is that you can make an argument
that may be the biggest home court advantage in the country.
How many teams have they beaten at home in five years?
Absolutely that Omaha Rita in Omaha is electric when that
when they they love their Blue Jays and Omaha.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Yeah, give credit to Greg McDermott and what he has
built there at Creighton. Who beat Marquette today and don't
they they have the win. I'll double check over Yukon
in that building to your point earlier this year they
rarely lose in the downtown Omaha or it is nine
(24:02):
straight wins and Creighton now trails Saint John's by a game.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
They're eleven and two.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Saint John's is twelve and one and yes Creighton in
that building.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Creyton actually beat Yukon at Yukon this week earlier in
the year.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
The lone loss for Saint John's is at Omaha at
Creighton in conference play. They also beat Kansas earlier in
the year in that building, so they have some magic working.
By the way they're in the handshake line. Alabama made
one of the two free throws and survived eighty five
to eighty one. Give credit again to Nate Oates as
(24:40):
his team tried to cough up the lead Jason Powers
here tonight, but they have survived in Fayetteville this evening
and Alabama now poised to be the new number one
team in the country. They were in the final four
a year ago. I was right there in the desert
with our buddy Chris Stewart and with all the Alabama
(25:02):
Crimson Tide fans. They hung in for a little while
with Yukon with the gunning three.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Pointers, etc.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Veteran players Sears and Nelson and a couple of the
others were on that final fourteen Blood long Blood is
a veteran player that had a lot of success in
the regular season with USF last year. There's no reason
why Alabama won't be a big threat in March.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Agreed, absolutely agree. You got the pedigree, you got some
inside outside. They don't have to live and die. But
that Diabte kid is a really good player for them.
They've got bigs that can shoot the three, can play
inside with Nelson. Yeah, this is a major threat in
the SEC for sure.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Just looking at the final numbers here, Grant Nelson led
Alabama with fifteen. I believe sears. We will double check
at last check he had eleven. He did finish with eleven.
In the game, Alabama only five of nineteen from three
point range. Jason, that's a bit surprising. Despite scoring eighty
five points, A lot of it was not the three
(26:03):
point shot, and in fairness, it was a six point
halftime game. They led by eighteen at one stage in
the second half, and Arkansas closed with a twelve to
two run to within one possession, but got fouled down three,
missed one free throw, made the second, and Alabama hit
the two key free throws at the end, and they
(26:25):
are victorious tonight to improve to nine and one in.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
SEC play with that.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
With that win, it is college basketball coast to coast
at our live program. Where do you want to go next?
Do you want to go back to the Duke lost tonight?
Where do you want to go?
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (26:43):
I want to go to the ACC because if you
look at the a SEC standings now you've got five
teams that are now nine and three are better. So
that league is you know, slowly, I know it's bottom,
it's weak at the bottom, but the top five teams.
I think SNUS at nine and three now in fifth place,
you're maybe you're looking at probably four teams maybe five
(27:03):
bits out of that league. Now with SMU at nine.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
And three, we'll look at the analytics. In a moment,
Louisville would be one of those teams along with Clemson
that you gotta believe is a shoe in. Maybe wake
Forest North Carolina not at the moment, although they did
get a revenge one point win over pit sixty seven
sixty six, a game they desperately needed they had they
had dipped a six and five in conference play.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
They got that win today.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Wake Forest won at col At Berkeley earlier in the day.
To your point, Duke now at twelve and one, leads
Louisville and Clemson by a game.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
They're both eleven and two.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Wake Forest is now ten and three in ACC play,
and I'm looking at the net rankings of these team.
In the net, you want to be somewhere around the
thirties or the forties in the net ranking.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
You had to think those four are in right, those
Dukes two.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Louisville is twenty eight, Clemson is thirty three. Wake Forest
is sixty six in the net one in six against
Quad four. SMU is thirty nine in the net. But
they don't have a Quad one win, so one in
six for wake Forest in the Quad one zero to
four for SMU.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
So I don't know that they get a fourth team.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
It might have to be a bid stealer Jason that
wins the ACC Tournament that's able to get that when
they play the ACC Tournament in I believe they play
that one in Charlotte Charlotte, and then they've got a
first round of the regional in Raleigh. I mean, it
stands that Duke for the moment won't leave the State
(28:45):
of North Carolina in March for a while if they
keep winning the way that they have. But again credit
Clemson for being able to take it from him, but
Cooper flag get the big shots for those that are
just joining us. He had two big threes to get
them in front, but then Clemson hit the free throws,
got the stops, flag a turnover where he lost his
(29:07):
footing again. That's reminiscent of what happened at the end
of the loss to Kansas and the Champions Classic, which
I believe that's the last time that Duke had lost
was to Clemson in the Champions Classic. So great performance
by Clemson in a win that they needed much Lee
tonight in the ACC while we talk again we go
coast to coast with all of this, let's talk Big
(29:28):
ten for a couple of moments. Michigan State had a
lost four or five days in SoCal Izzo already not
a fan of why do we have USC and UCLA
in this conference? He goes out to Los Angeles. He
loses to both the Trojans first and then to UCLA.
But Michigan State did get back on track today, not
before Jason. They were down by double figures in the
(29:51):
first half and roared back in the second half. Impressive
including Jace Richardson, the son of Jason Richardson, the All World.
Michigan State, an NBA player, thoughts here from you on
Michigan State. Did they regain some footing with this?
Speaker 3 (30:08):
They did? And Iso ties Bob Knight for the most
wins in Big Ten history as a head coach. So
shout out to Tom Izzo, who, by the way, is
from the same small hometown in Upper Michigan as my mother, by.
Speaker 5 (30:20):
The way, as small towns up in Iron Mountain, and
if I'm correct, in that town. Mary Miucci, the former
forty nine Ers coach and the current NFL Network analyst.
He and he and Izzo, I think big mother and
Or and Or were big friends all throughout like junior high,
(30:40):
high school and so on before both became very famous
as coaches and in Marucci's case as a broadcaster. And
Mama Powers is from that town.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
There right there. How about how about Oregon slide? We
talked Abott Zemic a couple of weeks ago. He thought
Oregon had an opportunity. They're now five and eight in
the Big Ten. They're going the wrong direction big time,
and a team I know you like UCLA getting it
together slowly and quietly just continues to rise up up
the standings in the Big Ten.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Yeah, we'll talk more about the Bruins in a second,
But back to Oregon. That is now six losses in
seven games for them. They are taking their lumps in
on a couple of early games, a couple of early
important games. So when the net rankings again, Purdue leads
the conference eleven and two, Michigan and Michigan State Jason,
(31:31):
who we've not talked about. We have not talked about
Michigan yet. Michigan State ten and two, Michigan ten and two.
Michigan won at somebody's Indiana Hoosiers earlier this afternoon in
a close game. All right, So the net rankings, Purdue
is eight, Michigan is seventeen, Michigan State is twenty two.
By the way, Wisconsin victorious earlier today as well in
(31:54):
the Big Ten and U seela. We should be talking
a little more about them. They have been quietly putting
it together here as we talk about them on College
Basketball Coast to Coast. The Bruins win again today over
Penn State. They've beaten Oregon recently. They went up to
Washington and one. Remember they beat Michigan State earlier last
(32:17):
earlier in the week. Yeah, this week Mick Cronin's team
has begun to put it together Jason right now in
the Big Ten race, as they are now nine to
four in conference play.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
They must have listened to his meltdown. They must have
taken heed to the points during the meltdown that he
was crushing them. What three weeks, three, four weeks ago,
whatever it was. So but yeah, give they got players.
Say what you want about you know, they got players.
I mean they you know, they always have players. Whether
they're tough enough, whether they're more finesse versus how Mick
(32:49):
Cronin likes to play kind of grind it out, that's
that's a different story. But you see AGAs players, if
they can score the ball, we typically defend pretty well.
So score has always been their issue. Can they get
to seventy seventy five points? If they do, they typically
defended well enough to win these games.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Sebastian Mack had fourteen fifteen for Kobe Johnson. Today, they
weren't dynamic five of nineteen from three, but they grinded
out the rebounds thirty five thirty three. They turned Penn
State over eighteen times in a seventy eight to fifty
four win, and they've got the two bigs. Bill Adeou
has been injured. He was back today eleven points, two rebounds,
(33:30):
and a block. Mara is the other seven footer. He
had five points, three rebounds, and a block. So they
got out of thirty minutes from those guys. They got
sixteen points and about six or seven rebounds and three
blocks or two or three blocks in the game from
those big guys. And UCLA quietly now putting it together again.
(33:52):
Their net ranking at the moment is twenty six, and really,
I mean the Big ten. Illinois won at Minnesota tonight.
They're fourteen in the net ranking. The net ranking is
in everything, but I mean, Illinois's got six quad one wins.
UCLA's got six quad one wins, Washington's got I'm sorry,
Wisconsin's got seven quad one wins. Purdue's got seven themselves.
(34:17):
They're getting the Maryland is sixteen in the net. They've
got five quad one wins. They lost a tough game
to Ohio State back on Thursday night. The Buckeyes are
twenty five in the net. They've got five quad one wins.
I mean, straw out argument. Big Ten's gonna get nine
teams in, maybe even get ten teams in at this point, Jason,
it's that good.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
Of a conference.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Indianapolis is where they will play the Big Ten tournament
coming up. And this doesn't even take into account maybe
a bid Steeler or two finding a way to win again. Love,
all of the insights will be here for a few
more minutes. We didn't talk enough about Perdue. I heard
you mentioned Perdue and Brayden Smith, one of the holdover
guards from the Final fourteen, playing at a tremendously high
(34:59):
level for Purdue right now, and we look forward to
seeing what they can do. They whacked USC on Friday
night at home, and I'm just looking for Brayden Smith.
He had the great stat line earlier in the week
in their win earlier in the week. Brayden Smith last
night nine points, thirteen assists, five steals. Hello, really a
(35:23):
glue guy in the ninety to seventy two win over
USC that moves Purdue to eleven and two. And you
can't say enough about Matt Painter as the coach, right, Jason, Oh, no.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Doubt for him losing all the guys he lost last year,
all the grief he took with not getting to the
Final four, he finally gets there last year, and I
have a comeback with this team. Had to bring in
some new parts. Things like that. No Edie probably playing
a little bit different style of play. Is He's been
tremendous at Perdue. And how about the other side of
the state. The acts finally comes down on Mike Woodson.
The speculation has already started. Dusty May was in the
(35:54):
building today, who I said on this show last year
should have been the Indiana coach last year, should have
made the move. Another name to keep an eye of
that Indiana job. Could Mike Cronin potentially be a candidate
to go to back to India. He's got a lot
of Midwestern roots, I mean, two names to keep an
eye on it. And of course Dusty May with the
(36:16):
I love Michigan comment after the game.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
And again he was the Florida Atlantic coach for the
Final four. He's a former manager on the Indiana team
and with Bob Knight, and he's a native of Indiana.
I like what Matt Zimick. We referenced him again. He
said to this to us a couple weeks ago. Brad
Stevens is the real wild card out of the Celtic
front office. The former Butler coach national runner up a
(36:42):
couple of times at Butler, Indiana through and through, they
could do a lot worse. I mean, I've seen the
different pundits that are all around college basketball listing names
you mentioned Cronin or tj Otzielberger at Iowa State. Who
would be some of the you know who would be
some of the other names that might interest Indiana. Brad
(37:06):
Stevens might be a better name than any of those.
You're gonna find out in a hurry. Does he really
want to come back to coaching and try to resurrect
Indiana as an Indiana guy? Stay tuned and look, They've
tried it with Tom Crean, who came from Marquette. They
tried it with Archie Miller, who had been at what Dayton.
They then went the Bob Knight Tree with Mike Woodson,
(37:28):
a former NBA coach but a former night player.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
I'll give you one. Give you another name, one a
guy that used to be in this state. Gotta be
getting sick and tired of winning thirty five games in Chicago.
How about one?
Speaker 2 (37:40):
Billy Donovan Billy D.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Billy D the former Florida Gator national champion coach yep,
it would be interesting if Indiana would look his way
to go back to the college game or not.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
So what else?
Speaker 1 (37:58):
What else do we have here on this Saturday night?
Anything else that strikes you again?
Speaker 2 (38:05):
Ohio.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Iowa State had a big bounce back day today as
they got a blowout win earlier this afternoon. I'm gonna
double check here on all of our results. Iowa stayed again,
had lost three games in a row, and they blasted
TCU by thirty today.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Houston won at Colorado.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
Up near the top, the surprise team right now might
be Kansas State, who beat Kansas in the revenge game.
They lost to Kansas about two weeks ago, and now
they come back in to Manhattan and beat Kansas. So
now Case State has won at Iowa State back last
Saturday and now gets a win over Kansas earlier today.
(38:52):
And the Arizona Texas Tech game is underway in the
first half, really a battle at the top of the
Big twelve with Arizona ten and one Texas Tech nine
and two. Arizona has a twenty four to eighteen league
with about seven minutes to go in the first half
of that one. That's gonna be fun. For us to
watch when we get off the year again. If you're
listening on podcasts, you know that result. But Caleb Love
and Arizona, they have been riding high after he made
(39:15):
the mid court shot to force the overtime in beat
Iowa State, and now they have put together a couple
more wins since then, including beating Arizona State. And now
they're battling Texas Tech, a team that has won at Houston,
that won midweek over Baylor. This will be a fascinating
game to play out here. The Red Raiders, by the way, Jason,
(39:38):
are one of two Power five teams. I don't know
who the other one is that have yet to lose
a road game in conference play. Again you in question
who all they've played in competition. But good luck winning
in the McHale Center. While we're at it, By the way,
that Arizona.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
And looking out west, how about our friends in the
Mountain West. How about Richard Patino at New Mexico one
won six in a row. Got it rolling out there
in Albuquerque. You know, we're we potentially we're going to
potentially be out there again to cover that tournament out
in Vegas. What a great tournament. That is in Vegas
they put on but keep an eye on on New
(40:15):
Mexico and Utah State right behind New Mexico to eleven
and two. They've won two in a row. You know
New Mexico's twelve and one. But Richard Patino's got it
going on out there in Albuquerque.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
Yeah again, Donovan Dent is the star guard. They destroyed
Air Force today as expected by twenty five at the
Air Force Academy. Nelly Junior Joseph the big man. It
all connects back to Rick Patino, Rick Patino's big man
in Iona two years ago, who was Richard Patino's big man,
low post threat last year on his team that won
(40:47):
four games in four nights to win the Mountain West
Conference Championship in the automatic bid and going the NCAA Tournament.
Nelly Junior Joseph had fourteen and much like Jason Powers
back in the day, twenty one, bore to go with
the fourteen against the Air Force Academy.
Speaker 3 (41:04):
Again.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
I'm looking at New Mexico's upcoming schedule. They got the
huge win, the blowout win over Boise State earlier in
conference play at home.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
They have currently won six in a row.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
They'll play Wyoming Who's Bad in the middle of the
week at home, but then they'll play Utah State, then
a revenge game for Boise State at Boise, then at
San Diego State. So the next three after the Wyoming
game will be tough for New Mexico, But the Lobos.
Los Lobos currently lead the Mountain West at twelve and
one by a game over Utah State. San Diego State
(41:38):
is in action tonight. They are eight and two in
conference play, Colorado State beating San Diego State at halftime
thirty eight to thirty five in this one.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
How about that tonight Matt Zenmik special. How about Gonzaga
now in third place in the West Coast Conference, San
Francisco in second, Saint Mary's rolling up top to ten
and one. But how about Gonzaga now at eighteen and seven?
Are they in any kind of danger here if they
were to lose early in that conference tournament? Possibly, are
(42:12):
they in some danger of not making it eighteen and seven?
You know, probably not a lot of quad one wins,
But I mean, you bet you better beat Saint Mary's
the second time around here, and then you obviously that
San Francisco program, even after Todd Golden left that San
Francisco program has re established themselves as a thread out
in the West Coast.
Speaker 1 (42:32):
Trying to get my technology to work, brother powers. Let's
go to the West Coast Conference net rankings, where Gonzaga
currently sits twelve in the net. But that doesn't that
doesn't tell the whole story. Though they're just two and
six in quad ie. They lost to Saint Mary's last
Saturday night. Again, Saint Mary's is the top team in
(42:55):
the West Coast Conference. They're twenty four in the net.
Very realist that both of those teams are going to
get in. The question becomes is they're a bidstealer out
of the WCC like San Francisco, like Santa Clara, Oregon State,
et cetera. Can somebody else be a third team?
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Maybe? Maybe not.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
Here's another important thing about this is if Gonzaga were
to lose another game or two and they still have
got to play Saint Mary's again, and they've got to
play San Francisco twice, and they've still got to play
at Washington State, then Zaga, if they lose a couple
more games and end up in the four hole of
the conference tournament, then you're playing Saint Mary's most likely
(43:38):
in the semi final game. Then you get really nervous,
Like you mentioned that, if you don't even make the
championship game, could that be a problem.
Speaker 3 (43:46):
Yeah, well yeah, I mean again, just a it's not
a down year for SAT for Gonzaga, just a just
not an elite year like they've had in so many
years past with Few. But and you wonder, is Mark
Few again another guy to keep an eye on it?
Mark fu kind of a guy that's just been at that,
he's been there forever. Would he ever contemplate maybe making
a move? Could Indiana maybe call a guy like Mark
(44:09):
Feu when the season's over, big name, you know, guy
that's been at Gonzaga forever. Maybe maybe I Few wants
one change of one more opportunity for a change of scenery.
Who knows.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
Well.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
The only thing about that is he's had some chances
before to come to the SEC A couple of times
the Arizona job was open, wasn't wasn't apparently that interested.
UCLA has been open a couple of times, hasn't been
that interested. He has turned Gonzaga into a powerhouse program
in a smaller conference and they play an elite out
(44:42):
of conference schedule because of what he's built.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
And again they've.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
Been in the national championship game back in the twenty
twenty one tournament. They were in the Final four before
that in twenty seventeen. I don't think he has a
Final four caliber team this year, especially on the defensive end,
but they could do damage again in March.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
We'll see. I don't know that you can lure him
out of there.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
He's making I believe he's making somewhere around four or
five million or more at that job at GONZAG. It's
not a money thing that would lure him out of there.
It's it's only maybe if it was one of the
biggest brand names, like what you were talking about, Mick
Cronin maybe being lured to Indiana, et cetera. Stay tuned,
stay tuned on how long Mark Few would stay there.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
I know you do a daily show every day. Give
me the give me the give me the mid major
and below team we're not talking about that's putting it together,
whether it's in the Sunbelt, the American give me a
team or two that we're not talking about, is gonna
be a It's gonna be a very testy eight nine
seed come tournament time.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
All right, First of all, we have the Memphis had on.
We got to keep them in mind. They are in
the top twenty five. Bear in mind they won a
ton of important out of conference games even though they're
in the Bad American Conference. They have wins over Yukon
and Michigan State on a neutral floor. They have a
true road win at Clemson, who beat Duke tonight and
(46:07):
is in the top twenty five of the net. They
have a win over Ole.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
Miss at home.
Speaker 1 (46:12):
So these guys are gonna probably be like a five seed.
Now that may be dangerous against a twelve if it's
a mid major whatever, But Memphis is looking good. How
about tonight they're battling in the Big West Conference. You
see Irvine and you see San Diego. You say, why
are we talking about them on college basketball Coast to coast?
(46:34):
How about both of them right now? I'll pull up
their metrics as well. Both of them, though, look like
they're gonna end up winning twenty games. In fact, they
both have won twenty games now this season with their
midweek wins Irvine the and Eaters hosting You see San Diego,
they're twenty and four. They're ten and two in the
Big West. San Diego, you see San Diego. This is
(46:56):
not San Diego State. This is not San Diego University
where Steve. This is the University of California, San Diego.
This is the first year, Jason, they're eligible to go
to the NCAA tournament. They've been on a four year
waiting period as a Division one and in this conference
where they could not go to the tournament, and the
Tritons of U see San Diego, they have a solid resume.
(47:18):
I'm looking here for the Big West metrics in the
net ranking because Irvine has a couple of wins out
of the conference. The metrics aren't great. Irvine is fifty
six in the net. They're one in one in quad one.
You see San Diego is fifty two. They're two to
one and one. Probably not terrible, probably though only one bid.
(47:41):
Whoever wins the tournament out of the you see Irvine,
you see San Diego mix that's probably your winner. But
keep an eye on those teams because if they get in,
they're probably gonna be like a twelve seed something like that,
maybe a thirteen seed, and could they put it on
a five or a four.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
In the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 1 (48:01):
Keep an eye on one.
Speaker 2 (48:03):
Of those teams.
Speaker 1 (48:05):
Other than that, I don't really know that there's another
mid major team that really stands out as somebody to
watch out for to do some damage in March. Remember
last year we saw Richmond with an upset. We saw
what James Madison with an upset. We saw a Yale
out of the IVY League knockoff Auburn with an upset.
So we had several of them last year. Stay tuned.
(48:27):
It's always the case in March. So other than that,
I think we are good here tonight. By the way,
a reminder I think is the first time the night
that we told you. We're brought to you by our
presenting sponsor, Ghost Leaves Ghostleaves dot Com the therapeutic kinesiology
sleeves for the elbow, the.
Speaker 2 (48:46):
Knee, the calf.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
We recommend ghost Sleeves as proud sponsors. Go check out
their product, not just to help you in terms of
being able to play weekend basketball, pickleball, biking, whatever exercise
you have, running tennis, golf, but the recovery time Jason
from these therapeutic sleeves can easyology technology utilize ghost Leaves.
(49:11):
They're also huge college basketball fans. Go check out that
technology with the sleeves at ghost sleeves dot com. Use
the promo code TJ. We're very appreciative of them being
proud sponsors. Here on the program, let's see viewer comments
real quick, James watching says Alabama Auburn next week with
(49:35):
Auburn off the loss, and Jason full disclosure, you spent
a lot of time in that state, like you joked
earlier in the show live here on the Saturday Night Cap.
This is not the Iron Bowl, this is not football.
This is college basketball, and they're two of the best
teams in the country.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
They Bear Bryant and Pat Dye are probably spinning in
the they are. They're saying, what the hell is going
on here in the state of Alan. But no, give
Pearl and NATO's credit. They have built these programs are
not just football schools now. It is a basketball haven.
They're loving their hoops now. Chris Stewart, you know, guys,
(50:11):
we know at both those schools. Just that'll be Espn'll
be there next week. That that's where ESPN will probably
be for game day next Saturday. That'll probably be the
primetime game. And by the way, how we got to
give a shout out to our guy, Dick Vital backs Clemson.
He was at the Clemson Duke game tonight, saw the upset,
(50:32):
but a big shout out to Dick Dicky V back
on the sidelines, call him games.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
Yeah, you cannot say enough about his recovery. He's been
very public with it, battling cancer not once but twice,
and we do say welcome back Dicky V. Dick Vitale
eighty five years old. Jason Powers has battled cancer twice
(50:58):
now and overcome it. Came back to cold games at
the end of the twenty three season. The last time
he had worked a game was the international broadcast on
ESPN International of the Final Four and Yukon's title win
over San Diego State some six hundred and seventy days ago.
Is the last time that he worked a college basketball game.
(51:20):
He worked it tonight at Clemson. Kind of a grovelly voice,
but it was great to hear him going on you
su Famous Vital with Cooper Flag and the big shots
and Clemson the win, and here's hoping Dicky V can
hang in there for March and March Madness no doubt
we're better for it.
Speaker 3 (51:36):
One more, I know he's not a college basketball guy.
What how about tomorrow ninety year old Hub Brown's last
ever broadcast?
Speaker 1 (51:47):
Yes, human Brown Dad, who has been part of the
Old ABA, the NBA as a coach and as a
broadcaster going back some fifty six years. That he goes
back in professional basketball and at ninety one years old,
QB will work the game tomorrow with the Milwaukee Bucks
(52:08):
and the Philadelphia seventy six ers for his last broadcast
of NBA.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
Who Yes, And I know you'll remember this well. I
always will remember this till the day I died. Him
and Dick Stockton on CBS. It would be the famous if.
Speaker 6 (52:23):
I'm Chuck Daily here I go one four set with
Isaiah Let him work. If I'm Chuck Daily here, one
four set with Isaiah back in the days of the
Pistons and Dick Stockton on CBS.
Speaker 3 (52:38):
How about that?
Speaker 2 (52:39):
Oh yeah, I always love Hube.
Speaker 1 (52:41):
I always love the line he goes, when you're a coach,
this kills you, but something would happen and miss free throws, turnovers.
Love Hubi's in with that. By the way, A quick
look I had this Sunday before we depart Big Ten
game Rutgers Maryland. Rutgers off off of a midweek important
win at home. Maryland suffered that loss to Ohio State.
(53:05):
So Maryland has the home game. Rutgers won over Illinois
by nine, beat a top twenty five Illinois team. Can
they validate it? That is a Sunday noon game on
the Big Ten network. Also, as I mentioned, my Memphis
Tigers looking for revenge with Temple. Let's see a penny
Hardaway's team can stand prosperity. Right now, they look for
(53:27):
a twentieth win. It would be penny seventh straight twenty
win season. Whenever they get the next win, they're nineteen
and four. So Memphis tomorrow at two Eastern time before
that Super Bowl game. Arizona State and Oklahoma State in
the Big twelve both both floundering. Oklahoma State at home,
Ohio State at Nebraska. They're trying to get all these
(53:47):
games in that game at two Eastern time as well
for Sunday, and then with that we have the Super
Bowl and then the football is done.
Speaker 2 (53:56):
Are you going against? Are you going against? Homes and
the Chiefs. By the way, in Super Bowl fifty nine.
Speaker 3 (54:05):
The Eagles on sat Quan's birthday tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
How do you go against all those one score wins?
If the Chiefs have the ball late, they're going to
find a way to win a game.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
With Patrick Mahomes, you're doue to lose.
Speaker 3 (54:17):
They can't win them all, man.
Speaker 1 (54:19):
You could look at it that first three peat since
the Lakers and the Big Sports. Since the Lakers of
the early two thousands, the NFL's never had a Super
Bowl three peat. The last three consecutive NFL World champ
or Super Bowl champ is the Packers in the sixties.
They won a couple of titles. They won an NFL
(54:39):
title and then won two Super Bowls in a row
for three straight title wins. We'll see in the Big easy.
