Speaker 1 (00:01):
Yes, Indeed, the more that we watch and see and hear,
the crazier it gets. Welcome into the college basketball coast
to coast platforms and the aftermath of the Friday night
of the Sweet sixteen of the twenty twenty five Men's
NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
I am merely the somewhat capable host. TJ Reeds.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Hello, Jason Powers, my wingman were both based in the
Tampa Bay area in Florida. I think I heard the
yelling and screaming from Houston, Texas just a little while ago.
H Town represent with a last second win. They almost
gave it away Jason against Purdue. But the one seed
Houston has survived. The one seed Perdue has come back.
(00:44):
All I'm sorry, the one seed Auburn has come back
and beaten Michigan, and the two seeds Michigan State and
Tennessee are also victorious on a Friday night. So Jason,
welcome in a lot of very intriguing stuff, and none
more intriguing than the crazy finish we just saw in Indianapas.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, I mean you can.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
The question is gonna be wise Matt Painter leaving the
inbounds man under his own basket unguarded.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Man, that's me.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
That's if you're gonna lose. You have to make him
throw it on the perimeter. The guy make a jump
shot or something. But you cannot give up an uncontested
layup because the underneath that a bounds passer is unguarded.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
I just don't understand it.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
The give and go layup. And we're gonna talk a
bunch about it throughout this show. Houston is the one
seed beats Purdue sixty two to sixty. They'll now play
the Tennessee Volunteers for a spot in the Final four.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
More on that in a moment.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Vince Ferrara, our colleague, our Tampa Bay brother from another mother.
He is standing by in Indianapolis. He just witnessed everything
that's there tonight. Better than you and me talking about it.
We're gonna let him talk about it in a moment
or two later on from the atl we hope to
hook up with Deshaun Tait. Mister Tate's take love his insight.
He was right there for the great Auburn comeback down nine, Jason.
(01:59):
They come from behind to beat Michigan tonight and make
the Elite eight to play another big ten team Michigan State,
so DeShawn was there firsthand at the State Farm Arena
in downtown Atlanta. We look forward to talking with him
later on in the program. Thank you for finding us,
however you've done so, whether you're watching us live on
Friday night or Saturday morning, or even Saturday afternoon before
(02:21):
the Elite eight games that are going to be played
coming on Saturday for Florida and Texas Tech in San Francisco,
followed by the Titanic Duke Alabama game in Newark.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Thank you for finding us again.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
We're also not only on video, but we're in podcast
form as well, wherever you get podcasts with college basketball
Coast Coast.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
We're going to be here through the weekend, through the
Elite Eight.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
We're going to be here next week for the Final
Four live in San Antonio. Love all of it. So
with all the promos out of the way again, huge story,
huge moment for the Houston Cougars as once again Houston
has won the game. They handled the pro Purdue crowd.
They're on the Elite Eight. They are seeking a seventh
(03:04):
Final Four by virtue of their win and better than
us continuing to chop it up he was.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
There on location.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Hello, Vince Ferrara of the Knoxville radio station, The Sports Animal,
the morning host and also part of the Tennessee Vall
Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
My friend, Wow, that's what we're saying.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Wow, you're there at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Expound
on the wow and the last second win that Houston
had to have.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Wait, can you hear it? Y? It's crickets.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Because the boil up nation quietly left the building and
it makes it such a big difference for this pat
for Sunday. The two biggest fan bases boe bye, they're
gone in Kentucky and Purdue not the not exactly what
the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce was looking for. I don't
(03:59):
think to have them all take off. But hey, you
guys said it. Jason hit it on the head. The inbounder,
I thought it was. It was strange the inbounder unguarded. Oh,
by the way, at twenty points too, so maybe they're
running some action for him and man just beautifully done
(04:21):
with the give and go, and Houston controlled the backboards
and the paint. Offensive rebounds were huge in their favor.
Second chance points twenty to nine. Houston offensive rebounds. How
about sixteen to seven Houston. Look, that's what they are.
It was a grind game, but man, Purdue rallied after
(04:44):
they were down ten. At one point it looked like, hey,
they might get run out of this thing, but they
rallied late three.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
But man execution big time.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Hey, one thing that we love doing, we did it
last night with our collie, Gary Russell. Take us inside
that mat massive football stadium is produced making the comeback.
They've got a huge contingent of fans. And then Camden
Heidi eventually makes the three. What was that like just
a little while ago. As they got the game tied.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Vents incredibly loud.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (05:14):
It really felt like it was, you know, an enclosed
basketball arena.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
That's how loud it got.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
It peaked for sure, and there's been loud moments kind
of like our perch is in the back corner, not
where on the closed side, where close to where the
court is, not necessarily where the where the giant curtain
is behind that on the behind the temporary seats, but
it's still as open.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
As this is.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
It was incredibly loud peaking at that moment, and Purdue
fans were in full throw I think there were more
Purdue fans here than Kentucky fans. Tennessee fans, you know,
definitely third and Houston fourth.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
But that's the way we expected it.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
You got talked about it, and and that's the way
it played out.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
So be interesting to see.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
The movement on tickets in on that on the secondary
market between now and Sunday. And look, Tennessee fans, they're
known for getting their hands on tickets late, gasting.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Up the car, getting on the interstate tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Boys, Jason, go ahead, pick it up. Without Vince in
the building, go Jason, just give give.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Give perdue credit.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
And they hung in there when you when they were
down ten, you thought they were in big trouble. They
kept making shots. You know, Ren had a really good
game in the post. And again the concern we have
with Houston can they score enough?
Speaker 3 (06:39):
L J.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Cryer, what two to twelve?
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Uzon saved the day.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
I mean, Sharp did not play, did not shoot the
ball great, and Roberts kind of got neutralized. But boy,
that Uzon career high sixty three pointers tonight. He is
a good, little smooth shooting two guard for Houston.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Vince, give me, give me one more thought. On the
Cougar's Having seen them in person, people are wondering, do
they have enough depth, do they have enough size from
what you saw in this first game of the weekend
at the regional.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Can they win the whole thing? Assess, Houston, what's your estimation?
Speaker 5 (07:16):
Well, obviously, first time I've seen them in person, I
do think that they can get stuck offensively. Seeing them
in person, I think sometimes it seems like they kind
of maybe go off script and try to create a
little bit and that sometimes that worked for them, making
(07:36):
some tough shots. Sometimes it didn't they I think this
next game with Tennessee, and I know we'll get to
the balls here in a minute, I think it's like
looking in the mirror, and I don't know if that's
Maybe the best thing for Houston is to see a
team that can offensive, rebound, that can defend.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
And I think what Tennessee has.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Developed here as of late is the ability to not
get stuck offensively and have some answers and chasenir normally
is that guy they're playing the right way. So that
to me is what I wonder about a little bit
with Houston, you know, but this was I think a
big hump for them because them failing to get to
(08:22):
the Elite eight and the Final four as a one seed.
That's something that they had done before. They didn't want
to be in that position again. Obviously, Kevin Sampson has
been criticized for not getting all the way to, you know,
to the finish line with his team. As good as
they've been, but they're really good. They're very similar to Tennessee.
(08:43):
I think that's maybe the one difference between the two
is is.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
They can get stuck maybe a little bit more than Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
All Right, pick it up on that.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
The Balls get their win tonight, get their revenge.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
They won the game that mattered with Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
And really I'm saying this, I have to confess I
was going back and forth with the Michigan State Ole
miss battle and this Tennessee win over Kentucky. It seemed
to me Tennessee just kept Kentucky at arm's length much
of the night.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
That was my perception.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
How and why did they win the third match up
after losing the first two events.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
What would you say, Tennessee boss? This game?
Speaker 5 (09:22):
They did from pretty much the jump, Kentucky barely led.
Kentucky led for thirty two seconds of the game. Once
Tennessee got to double digits, they never looked back on Kentucky.
You know, there was times where Kentucky would have, you know,
a you know, a four point run or something like that.
But that's kind of what I was referring to before.
(09:43):
In the past, Tennessee was so defensive oriented that if
they didn't get stops and their shots weren't falling, they
have a way to kind of stem the momentum coming
from the other direction. Now they just run some action
for chasly And and he makes a smooth two point
basket at the elbow or a three, or Ziggler drives
(10:07):
and breaks down the defense. But the Tennessee team isn't perfect,
but they're playing their best basketball. Couple things were the difference.
One was the way Tennessee defended the three. For Kentucky.
Kentucky was twelve of twenty four in each of their
first two meetings fifty percent. Tennessee shot twenty two percent
(10:29):
from three in those first two meetings, but they took
too many of them, and Tennessee wasn'tbated into taking too
many threes. They drove, they passed side to side, they
used both sides of the floor. They spread Kentucky out,
Ziggler gaining lanier. They were able to penetrate and not
take too many three pointers. Tennessee shot a nine let's
(10:53):
see fifteen five of nineteen three pointers, not a great
percentage of them, but you know what, they had a
whole bunch of twos, and they dominated in the paint
so that the offensive three point not taking too many,
and then defending the three. Bray had one May three
(11:13):
porter and that was I think the very first one
in the game for Kentucky. Nothing since you know what
happened Jami Mayshack happened to him, and Jami Mayshak probably
going to be the.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Defensive player of the year. He should be. Hemans and
KaiA Zigler both up for that.
Speaker 5 (11:29):
And Tennessee did one other thing defensively that really threw
Kentucky off. Is we heard from the coaches and the
players in the open locker room afterwards, is they switched
more defensively in this game than they did in previous meetings.
And they didn't communicate when they switched last time. They
switched this time, and it really threw Kentucky off.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I know you've got to go in a few minutes.
I don't want you to miss everything. I don't want
them to lock you in where you are and get lost.
It's the middle of the night in Indianapolis again, Zi
Kai Ziegler in the game eighteen points tennis sists. Lanier
also had seventeen in the game. Jason, did you have
another question about Tennessee and the win and maybe the
matchup with Houston for Vince.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
And just on the defensive end only if I'm right
on this, Vince only two games all year. Tennessee gave
up fifty percent shooting with the Kentucky in the two games.
I mean, just just talk about again, I think Barnes is.
We criticize Rick, but he is getting it together. He's
got a veteran team, he got the point the floor
general on Ziggler, just talk about how important Ziggler is
(12:33):
in getting the right guys the right shots.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Well, he's now the all time SEC single season assists leader,
I mean, and he's four times on the All Defensive
Team Defensive Player of the Year the last two years
and may go to Mayshak this year.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
We'll see.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
But it's incredible to have two elite defenders for that
Nasmith Defensive Player of the Year fift two of the
four nationally on one team, So anyone else can talk
about you know, we have a great defense too, to
have individuals, individual defenders that can take guys out of
a game like they can, and then they cover a
(13:13):
lot of space when whether they switch or get out
to three point shooters that they can cover a lot
of space and they rebound. It's what they're doing. And look,
the boards were a big part of this game. Tennessee
out rebounded Kentucky thirty four to twenty four, and some
of that was just some late rebounds for Kentucky to
close that gap. How about fourteen to seven in offensive rebounds.
(13:35):
So part of the defense is them. When they're good
on the glass and dialed in with the way they defend,
they're tough to be.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
But I think what's taken Jason Tennessee.
Speaker 5 (13:48):
To another level, and I saw you react to it
when I mentioned it earlier, is they're playing their most
efficient offense right now. And in the past, Brick Barnes
teams would be elite defensively, but then you look at
their Ken Palm offensive efficiency and you know, as they
last year I think they were like in the fifties
(14:09):
or something like that before that, way behind that, and
now they're top twenty right and there, and they have
a guy in Chas Lanier that can break slumps for
them and stem the momentum from opponent.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
So they're playing.
Speaker 5 (14:27):
They're playing really good ball right now and looking forward
to Sunday. Because this program has never made it to
the final four. That's what's at stake. Mayshack and Ziggler
very motivated to uh to get this team where the
program has never been.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
All right, and I know you got to go in
a moment or two.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Follow Vince at Vince Sports on social media ninety nine
to one. The sports Animal is the FM sports radio station.
He's the morning host. A lot of great content through
the ball Network, through Vince's social media, through the station,
et cetera. His coverage is out standing from the Tennessee
standpoint and everything that's gone on this weekend. We plug
away for our Tampa brother from another mother. He hustled,
(15:08):
he got to Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
He's there.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
He's on scene where Tennessee has won, Houston has won.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
The floor is yours?
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Anything else that we didn't cover that you want to say,
including in advance of the Houston game before that is
played on Sunday, before you have to get out of
here in the wee hours of the morning overnight Friday
night into Saturday.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
Yeah, a lot of discussion with the Zekai Ziegler. Jason
brought him up earlier, and he was almost emotional in
the postgame because his relationship with Rig Barnes.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
I mean, this kid.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
Was about to give up basketball in the Bronx and
he travels so much to get to his games, and
Rick Barnes saw him and they believed in him and
gave him an opportunity and knew he'd have a chance
to compete. He beat out a five star in Kennedy
Chandler to earn his spot, and he never gave that
point guard spot up. So he's got such a special
(16:02):
relationship with with Rick Barnes, and I thought it was noteworthy,
not necessarily for the game, but Rick Barnes was asked
yesterday in the media session about rumors of him potentially
retiring after this year.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
I mean fans, t J. I might to mention this
to you.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Fans have asked us and want us to talk about
Rick Barnes retirement almost as much as the games in
the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
That's how big of a topic he is.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Do you know all?
Speaker 3 (16:29):
You don't know?
Speaker 5 (16:30):
And he shut it down. He shut it down. He said, no,
I haven't. I haven't thought about that. He said, God
will will tell me when it's it's my time, but
I haven't given any thought. He said, it's not right now.
He plans to coach the team next year. He still
loves the game, his his players appreciate how Hardy coaches him,
(16:54):
but then how much he loves him as well. And
I'll say one other thing about the on the court
Tennessee team. I've watched them in the past where they
would have a rough practice and then they play that way.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
And it's just the case. Last year.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
They would yo yo based on practice. If they'd have
a great practice, they would play that way in the game.
This year's team is much more flat lined, Like they
didn't have as many, you know, wavering differences in how
they would practice, and they've been more consistent in games.
And I think in a weird way, this team does
not play as tight on the offensive end like I've
(17:31):
always thought that they have in the past, Like I'm
gonna make a mistake and I'm gonna get yanked, and
I'm just worrying about where I'm supposed to be as
opposed to playing basketball. This team and Rick Barnes is
adjusted to today's basketball, so guy. And it's a shorter rotation,
so guys aren't afraid of getting yanked.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
They play looser.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
They're playing inside out, which is the best recipe for them,
and I think it's leading to them continuing to ascend
and get better as opposed those two maybe playing their
best at you know, at one point in a big
game earlier this year. Now they're doing it when it
counts the most and they are all about next game.
There they said, we got we got more to do,
(18:12):
and that has been their theme throughout each round of
the NCAA tournament, more to do. They haven't over celebrated
at all, and any of these three wins so.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Far very interesting. Listen.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
I could go on with you for another few minutes,
but I want to make sure you can get out
of there, because they're doing all the postgame stuff of
the Houston Purdue game, and Vince is there in downtown
Indianapolis late night. I don't think anybody's going to bed
anytime soon. That was inside of Lucas Oil Stadium. Whether
you're cheering for Tennessee or Houston, or you're down trodden
for Kentucky and Purdue, it's going to be a long,
fun night in the Circle City. Jason and I were
(18:45):
just there a couple of weeks ago, who were in
the Horizon League title.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Now I was listening. I was listening.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Vince Ferrara is there and you are gold, brother, your gold.
Thank you publicly for coming on with us in the
aftermath of this. Have a blast for the build up
to Sunday afternoon for Houston and Tennessee in a spot
in the final four. I'm saving you a space in
San Antonio. We'll carve out a space to come stay
(19:11):
in the river Walk City, in the Alamo City if
the balls can get there. Stay tuned, and you ain't
going over for two, my brother, you're going to the
Final four.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
I got Tennessee beating Houston Sunday and you're going to
the Final four.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
By the way, the twenty five year plus voice of
the Tennessee Valls, Bob Kessling, is retiring at the end
of this year.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Get him in the Final Four.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Let him do a Final four game coming up here
and Vince's part of the ball Network. We'll see what happens.
I know you got to run. Thank you, great stuff tonight.
We'll be watching you online social media. We'd love to
have you back on on our platforms. Thank you, Vince Ferrara.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Gold noseed Gold. You guys are the best.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
Appreciate you having a great night and cakes it Mom's
diner next time.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Yes, we gotta go get some food if Mom's dinners right.
All right, there you go, Vince. We'll see you later.
There goes Vince Ferrara from Indianapolis, and again the SEC.
I put this up there a couple of times during
the conversation. That is four teams now that make it
into the Elite eight from all four different brackets. By
(20:17):
the way, we knew that we had a guarantee of
an SEC team with Tennessee or Kentucky out of the Midwest. Jason,
it's been a tremendous conference all year long, and Tennessee's
been one of the best teams in it. Auburn has
been the best team in it. We can't say that
it's a surprise. They're both still alive.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
No, no, man, it's that this is a historic year
for the SEC. I mean, and they're give them credit,
they're delivering. They their big teams have delivered big when
they've had to win. Auburn was a little bit on
the ropes today with what ten eleven minutes to go,
then they went on the huge run in Tennessee. Man,
they are just a workman like team. I like, I
like what Rick barn is doing. They've got enough offense
(20:58):
in my view, and I think they're gonna I think
they're gonna host on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Love it again. That's the voice of Jason Powers. If
you're only hearing us on the pod, et cetera. If
you're seeing us, thank you, Thank you for hanging in
there with us late night Friday night into Saturday. Perhaps
you're seeing us later on Saturday on the college basketball
coast to coast platforms, whether it be Twitter, X, YouTube, Facebook,
et cetera.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Look at that.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
We gotta plug right there up on the video screen.
About how you find the show. We love being with you.
We love the breakdown, my friend.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
How about since nineteen seventy nine, it's the first time
there's no seat or four or lower has made the
final eight three one to two matchups and a one
to three matchup in the regional file.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
That is a stat.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
We got to go back to Magic and Bird in
the seventy nine championship game, of which the anniversary was
two nights ago. I believe, hard to believe that was
forty six years ago. That's the last time that it's
been this Chalky, is what you're saying. With the faves
into the final four, into the final eight, yes, or
in the final eight to this point, yep, with this
(22:06):
many top seeds that are getting it done again. We
hope to hook up with our colleague Deshaun Tate, who
watched his Michigan State Spartans get it done in Atlanta
by beating Ole Miss earlier in the night quite the
battle and then the late night game, says Powers, how
much trouble were the Auburn Tigers truly in? They were
(22:27):
in a bunch of trouble until the twenty to two
run with about ten minutes remaining, it was what twelve
to nothing and eventually twenty to two, and they.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Never looked back.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Auburn looked the part of a national champion in Atlanta,
I'm saying that, what do you say about the Tigers.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
I'm right there.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
With a great time out by Bruce Prol You got
down what nine he called time out and after that timeout, boy,
you had Pettiford hit a couple of threes. You had
Denver Jones yea, and you had Jenni Broom and they
the intensity that they turned it up on the defensive end.
How good was card we Garden Vlad Golden and Wolf
in the second half. I mean, just one on one,
(23:05):
just a wide body just did a tremendous job in man,
that was a championship five or six minutes, one of
the best five or six minutes I've seen out of
a heavyweight team in a long, long time.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Again, Michigan kind of had the tempo where they wanted it.
But what we've seen and they did win the Big
Ten tournament, and full disclosure in every bracket. I had
Michigan beating Auburn in this game in the sweet sixteen,
so I thought they would have a real shot to
win it. But in their losses they're undoing over and
over again turnovers and we saw it time and again,
(23:38):
not taking care of the ball. I mean, Danny Wolf
has been tremendous as to transfer from Yale the one
two punch with Vlad Golden as the big man. But
unfortunately he was an assassin against Michigan in the final
ten minutes of the game. One dumb turnover play after
another after another, about four of them.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Late in the game.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
He wasn't the only reason why they lost. They missed
some open looks, but he had some bad turnovers and
and honestly, Auburn with Pettiford and Denver Jones just made
everything from the outside to pull away Jason follow up.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Oh Pettiford. Pettiford made two or three just unbelievable off
balance contested shots by the Michigan defender. I mean he
was on a heat check there for that three or
four minute spurt. Jones had a couple of big threes
on a couple of ball screens up top, and again
that broom Broom was the force in the first half,
and he didn't score as much of the second half,
but boy he intensity wise, And we talked about it
(24:36):
last night. That crowd in Atlanta was pro I mean,
that was an electric crowd in all in Atlanta tonight.
That was probably eighty five percent Auburn in that building.
That was a factor as well. Once that volcano and
that uh that snow, that snow snow talked about downhill.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
We talked about it.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
That would the teams feed off the crowd if they
had the crowd like Duke in Newark or like Kentucky
or Producer tonight, they didn't get it done, but Auburn
did seem to feed off that crowd. You saw card
Well the big body cap wave, and you saw Broom
waving the crowd as well. Give us, yes, like give us,
(25:14):
give us an inspiration. Broom tremendous twenty points, fifteen or
more rebounds. He was great in this so credit where
it's due to Auburn who took it from Michigan. Tonight
they are in the Elite eight again, joining Tennessee, Florida
and Alabama in the Elite eight. And better than us
(25:35):
to continue to go on about it, how about we
go to the atl and our man, DeShawn Tate, who
is standing by. He's been doing postgame duties in the
locker room for on three Sports in the aftermath of
the Auburn win. He's now available with us in the
State Farm Arena. Hello to mister Tate's take. We love
(25:57):
the insight late night Friday into Saturday on College Basketball
Coast to Coast, pick it up as we were just
discussing here about I love asking this question in the arena.
How wild and crazy was it when Auburn went twelve
nothing and then twenty to two to overtake Michigan and
win the game?
Speaker 2 (26:16):
What was it like in the arena? To Shaun Welcome, I.
Speaker 6 (26:19):
Tell you what, and I appreciate you guys for having me.
I mean, listen, I remember seeing the Michigan State and
Ole Miss, and you know, Michigan State typically travels pretty well,
and I'm like, oh, Miss has a good amount of
fans here. But then I think what Auburn was bringing in.
Of course, not everybody had arrived at the arena yet,
and I'm like, yeah, this is a different level. And
then so it's not only just a lot of people,
(26:41):
but you know, it's already a little hectic and you know,
chaotic anyways, just because I mean, I forget the student
section that they have there, but I feel like they
brought every single.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Student of this section.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Yeah, and you know that that's a crazy place to
play at. It a crazy and not very many wins
you get there, at least not under you know, Bruce
Pearl's belt.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
But no, it was.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
Definitely, uh, it was definitely rocket and you know, especially
in the second half. You know, the first half obviously
they didn't play their best brand of basketball or what
have you, and I know some of the guys have
been you know, kind of talking about what alluded to
the second half run that they made and obviously being
able to slam the door in Michigan's faces because there
(27:25):
was a reminder at the half that you know, a
lot of you know, the vibe and the energy in
the field was a little bit felt a little bit
disrespected because leading up to the NCAA tournament, you know,
there were people are just talking about they were skating
by some of their games, not even winning. You know,
obviously they want I think lost with like three out
of the last four or three out last five or
(27:46):
whatever it was. And then you know, obviously Aladema State
gave him a good run for their money in the
first half of the very first game, so they were
kind of filling their own little waves about that a
little bit, and then definitely felt the need to come
out and put on the show in the second half,
and to be honest with him, that's exactly what they did.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Uh, just follow up again on what we just touched on.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
I don't know how much you heard it about Pettiford,
the freshmen and Denver Jones. They seem to make everything
during that run. What did you perceive from being right
there on Auburn making all the big shots, not just
a few man, all of them. It looked like the
showing when they had to have.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
It, and they did.
Speaker 6 (28:23):
And I think at one point in time on that run,
Denver Jones had scored like ten of the team's points
consecutively or something kind of crazy like that. And you
know a lot of times he tends to get a
little bit more credit because of his ability to play
on the defensive side.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Of the ball.
Speaker 6 (28:37):
So I think that they're just, you know, they got
to a point where they're just clicking and maybe they
needed a little bit of a wake up call or
a reminder, which I think that they're a little bit lucky,
because not often times are you going to be, you know,
playing too this late into the season and then still
be able to get a wake up call and be
able to pull away a win on such a significant
level talking about, you know, an advancement to the lead eight.
(29:01):
Not everybody's gonna be Michigan and allow you to do that,
But nonetheless, that's what the great teams do. And this isn't,
you know, just any old team. This is also the
number one overall seed, obviously a number one seed, and
arguably or and arguably I know people in Durham are
gott to feel their own way about it, but this
is Auburn team has been the best team in the
country on year long, and they've got some big time wins.
(29:21):
I mean, they've beat in Houston. They they they've they
they they they've kind of gotten to a couple of
scuffles with each other.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
If I'm not mistaken on point out that Duke got
them in the head to head match up with Auburn, Dre.
Speaker 6 (29:35):
And and and and and and and that they will
and so you know, and you know Auburn. Auburn has
looked like a really good basketball team obviously, and got
some size to go with it. I knew that they
had some guys that were big. I'm not sure if
they If I knew that they had some guys that
were that size. Unless they're loose. I just came out
of that locker room and I was in the yesterday
after the shoot around and practice.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
They're loose.
Speaker 6 (29:56):
Maybe a little bit too loose to my liking sometimes
just because it kind of give that vibe and feel
they've then not taking things all the way serious.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
Nonetheless, a vis is a team that can afford to
do that. Uh, it's it's it's it's them.
Speaker 6 (30:09):
You know, they're they're They're a confident group and and
that's how they play. And a lot of it, honestly
probably is an extension of.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
The coach yep, and he's loose.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
They were chanting sec sec on the CBS interview with
Tracy Wolfson after it was over with Jason Powers way
in here with Deshaun Tate, who's put.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
In a long night in Atlanta. We're gonna let him
get out of here in a couple of minutes.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
But under here you can understand whether it's a question
about the Auburn win er. He wants to talk about
Sparty in the winner role. Miss whatever you prefer, Jason,
team up.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Let's do Smarty.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
I did not get to watch this game in its
totality the sense of kind of a meat grinder kind
of game with Old Miss and Sparti tonight. You know,
I was impressed at the end. Michigan State made all
the free throws at the end that they needed to make.
And just give us a little synopsis of just the
grind it out. You know, Beard and is Oh played
each other before in this tournament. Just give Hiss a
(31:03):
little synopsis of just the meat grinder that this game was.
Speaker 6 (31:07):
No you mentioned it, and that's why hit it right
on the head. I mean, that's ultimately what Michigan State,
you know, how they won the game. It was a
grinder and that's kind of what they're used to. And
you know, that's been the makeup of Tomas those teams
every time he gets to a point where he gets
to this point. You know, there were definitely some concerns
with you know, Padullah from three and of course Michigan
State being one of the worst three point shooting teams
(31:30):
in the country, and of course they've you know, turned
the ball over like crazy at the very beginning, so
it was just a matter of needing to settle in.
I think that they really believed that once they got
to a point where I think they were down seven
or something, can remember exact number going into the half.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
They felt very you.
Speaker 6 (31:45):
Know, fortunate, you know, to be only down that much
considering the fact that they hadn't been playing very well.
And so, you know, another thing, Jace Richardson, who didn't
have a very good performance to last game against New
Mexico in the second round, kind of, you know, alluded
to it in the post game press conference, and he
kind of felt like he let his guys down a
(32:07):
little bit and that he needed to make up for that,
and they were fortunate and lucky to be able to
win that game in the advance, so he felt they need
to put on the show, and that's what he did
on tonight too. So I mean, listen, Michigan State hasn't
played a phenomenal brand of basketball for the first for
these first three games with this NCAA tournament, Norse shot
developed ball extremely well, and they're still finding a way
to win basketball. Game YEA was the best. Yet still
(32:30):
ahead for them. I don't know, because they have a
really tall task unintended with Auburn coming up. But listen,
it's the best for forty minutes. And I'll tell you
what else I'm meant to mention this to you, TJ,
and please forgive me for getting long winded. This is
so similar and I'm not saying this team is going
to do this or this team isn't. This reminds me
so much of twenty nineteen. And why because in twenty
(32:51):
nineteen Duke had a freshman twenty nineteen and this year
who are considered to be generational talent. And in twenty
nineteen year and this year Michigan State beat Richard Patino
in the second round. That Minnesota team at that time.
In twenty nineteen and this year, Texas Tech was a
(33:12):
number three seed and obviously, as you know, they go
on to the Final four. And being Michigan State there
and then last was certainly not least. In twenty nineteen
and in this year, Kansas was the overall Kansas came
into the season ranked number one preseason and the country
and ended up losing in the first weekend.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
So what does any of that means?
Speaker 6 (33:31):
Probably not a whole lot.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Well, we know that stay late and study a lot.
That's okay. We know this.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
The coach is the same coach we see that on
the screen on college basketball. Coach to coach and he
took down with his team Cassius Winston. Am I right,
who else was on that team in twenty nineteen, mister Sparti,
they took down Zion Williamson who you're talking about, and
Duke And now Michigan State's got a chance to take
out to take out the prohibitive number one team coming
(33:59):
in here again to get to the final four. And
ironically Bruce Pearl in twenty nineteen had Auburn and they
made it as well and made with Aburn with Auburn. Yeah,
so there's a lot of twenty nineteen teams this to this.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
One state compete on the interior? Are they going to
have major problems with card Well and Broom on the
interior there that Michigan State does not have a big
man that doesn't seem to be great, elite decent.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
Are they gonna be able to compete there? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (34:31):
I think it's I mean, I don't even know if
Shaquille O'Neil can match up with these guys that Auburn
is going to be rolling out there. So no, I
mean in terms of compete, I mean, the one thing
that Michigan State has going for themselves while they don't
necessarily have the size advantage, they're one of the best
teams in the country in terms of pace and uh,
you know, every time. One thing Auburn is gonna have
(34:53):
to get used to is hearing the sound of that horn,
and then it's like a never ending revolving door of
fresh legs that Michigan State can check into the game.
I think if Michigan State has a chance at winning
the game such as this one, besides the fact that
the ball has to go in the basket from the
perimeter because of Auburn size, but even more so regards
(35:14):
who's shooting the ball at the rim, that ball needs
to come off long so that Michigan State's quicker guards
can get out in transition in some of those outlet passes.
So I think they got the guys that eat enough
beef and broccoli to be able to bang down there
and maybe draw some fouls and things like that. As
far as on the offensive side, probably not. But if
(35:34):
this if in the event what they say that this
tournament is so predicate, the success of the tournament is
so predicated based on guards, I think it's going to
set up for a very interesting.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Elite eight on Sunday in Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
All Right, we're gonna let de Sean take it out
of here in just a second. But we got one
more fun one.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Those that are short term invested in these things, they
get very interested at the end of close games on
what's the spread, what's the total, et cetera. All right,
for those for entertainment purposes only that cared Michigan State
was either a four, three and a half something like
(36:13):
that point favorite, so much so that when it came
to the final seconds up six and Matthew Morell made
the shot from about thirty five feet away that smashed
the back rim and then just dropped again.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Not a bank shot, not a swish.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
The conservative estimate is that it's at least a fifty
million dollar losing shot for those that had Michigan State,
because most of the public money was on Michigan State
laying that number four and a half, four three and
a half.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
All of it out the window on that three pointer.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
I mean, tom Izzo doesn't care about this parton fan
doesn't care about this, But there are a whole lot
of people financially that care about that three that went
in at the end of the game. I just thought
I would, Deshaun, you were in the building for what
was potentially at least a fifty million dollar or more
three pointer by by ole Miss at the end of
the game. We may have lost to Shan on the feed.
(37:16):
I'm not sure. We'll see if if he pops back in.
But Jason Powers, it was not an insignificant moment.
Speaker 4 (37:23):
No, I mean, and I and I texted you immediately
after I go I thought ten million dollars, but at
fifty million dollars is the estimate. I mean that. Can
you imagine the people in the Vegas sports books tonight
in the draft. You know, we've been a couple of
casinos in the last couple of weeks, Atlantic City, Vegas.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
There were agreeing of joy and pain.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Oh yeah, seventy three percent is the number I saw
aggregated seventy three percent of the money on Michigan State,
laying the number for what it's worth at the very end.
So so the sports books, the humongous casinos that you see,
they we're all cheering wildly privately as the evil oddsmakers
(38:06):
when that shot went in because most of the money
was not on Ole Miss in that moment. But Michigan
State nonetheless wins the game to night. I think Deshaun
has departed to Shawn great stuff follow him at Tates
Take hoops by the way out of Atlanta. Deshaun will
be with us at the Final Four as well in
San Antonio. We appreciate his extra effort to hang with us. So, Jason,
(38:28):
let's go back and cover a couple of things that
we've already talked about.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
We've got a lot of people that.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Have just tuned in, maybe in the last ten or
fifteen minutes, back to the crazy finish of the Houston
Purdue game and your thoughts again on the give and
go where Milos uzon the Oklahoma transfer to Kelvin Samson's
program at Houston is the hero. He made the pass,
got it back with no one guarding him, right by
(38:53):
the basket, and laid it in inexplicable, indefensible. Really, there
was no defense on him. How is that possible? On
the baseline he gets to win follow up.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
And what was weird is if you saw the repay,
it looked like Brayden Smith was initially in front of him,
and then he immediately ran down the baseline to cover
a perimeter guy a second one second after Usan took
the ball from the official. I mean, you can't do
that under the basket. If it's on the perimeter, you
could potentially justify doing that because you're trying to double
(39:27):
team an then bouncement, but you cannot do it under
the basket where the amount of space he had Usan.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
There wasn't a guy within six feet of him when
he got the ball under the basket.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
It was easy bucket, layup, easy bucket, great diagram play.
Houston was ready with the give and go and got
it done. And by the way, it is the thirty
fifth anniversary we talked about the nineteen ninety tournament is
such an amazing tournament for so many different reasons.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
We talked Loyola.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
Merrymount last night and the heartwarming story with Bo Kimball
and Jeff Friar and Paul Westead the coach after the
death of their teammate Hank Gathers.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
That's the nineteen ninety tournament.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
They scored one hundred and forty four points on Michigan
twenty three point by the way, twenty one, twenty one three,
and Alabama broke that record last night. How about thirty
five years almost to the day of Christian Latner's first
buzzer beater his freshman.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
Year at Kahoon in Yukon against.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Calhoun and Yukon the give and go on the sideline
at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey. He's the inbounder, passes,
gets it back, takes a quick bounce and shoots with
no time left and wins the game over Yukon. That
was thirty five years ago. Earlier this week tonight, the
give and go for Houston lives thirty five years later
(40:52):
against Purdue, and as our colleague Vince Ferrara said, You've
never seen eighteen to twenty thousand fans of one team
file out so quietly in your life. After that moment
in Lucas Oil Stadium tonight, what a moment for Houston.
Kelvin Samson trying to get them back into the Final
Four for the second time in his Houston tenure. They
(41:14):
are looking for their seventh Final Four if they can
get it against Tennessee. Any thought on the Tennessee Houston
match up from you real quick before we're departing here.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
In a few moments, I think it's gonna be a
defensive kind of game. But I think Tennessee has enough offense.
I think, again, I worry more about Houston going into
the drought than I do Tennessee. I think Zachai Ziegler
is going to be a factor. I don't know if
Sharp and Cryer can stay in front of Ziegler. I
think that quickness of Ziegler is going to be a factor.
And again, you got Chase Lnniar, who we know is
(41:44):
a bona fide All American kind of guy. Can Houston
find can uzon repeat the performance? Can Cer wake up again?
He shot two for twelve tonight. Give Kelvin Samson credit.
He kept him in the game. And Cryer hit a
big three late that helped them. But again I worry
about Houston's ability. But again, two physical bullies on the
(42:04):
bullies on the end of.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
The block kind of teams.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
Man.
Speaker 4 (42:06):
Both these teams like to play defense, and Vince made
a great point about the defensive glass. If Tennessee can
play even with Houston on the defensive glass, I think
they got a great chance to win.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
I think Tennessee wins the game Sunday.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (42:18):
All right.

look ahead, Let's let's talk a little bit about that
and the games for Saturday.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
Florida and Texas Tech up first.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
Gators obviously favored here as the SEC tournament champs. Texas
Tech underman Chase McMillan with the oblique injury, not expected
to play.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
Still they gutted it out.
Speaker 3 (44:04):
JT.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
Topping in the middle. I like Florida in a narrow one.
Maybe we're accused of Sunshine State bias. Are you going
along with that? Or maybe do you like the big
twelve here to flex with Texas Tech.
Speaker 4 (44:15):
Texas Tech can score now. They got good players, Williams.
You got the point guard's pretty good. But I worry
about their depth because Florida can run out not eight, nine,
ten guys that are quality big men. They got quality
backups at the guard spot. I think Florida's unselfishness. They
were so unselfish the other night. Ope fine, the open guy,
I think Clayton, I think Richard, I think Elijah Martin
(44:36):
are gonna be the difference here.
Speaker 3 (44:38):
Clayton didn't have a huge game. He didn't have to
have a huge game the other night.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
And the inside power I think of Florida will wear
down Texas Tech. I think Florida's going to the Final four.
Todd Golden, where he used to coach in San Francisco.
I think Florida's cutting down the nets in the West region.
I think they're gonna win the game eight to ten
points in the end. I think Texas Tech will play good.
I know you like Grant McCaslin a lot Tech the coach.
(45:01):
This guy is on the rise as far as the program,
and give him credit.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
They gutted it out the other night.
Speaker 4 (45:07):
They had no business probably winning that game against Arkansas
down ten with what three and a half minutes to go,
whatever it was. But boy, I think Florida's I think
Florida got a great draw and I think they're going
to the Final four.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Credit where it is due on the comeback. But yeah,
Arkansas also collapsed, collapsed big time, and Texas Tech still
alive again. That's the first game up just after three
Pacific time, just after six Eastern time on Saturday, Florida
looking to be in the Final Four. As you see
on the screen for the first time in eleven years.
Texas Tech was there with Chris Beard and the Raider
(45:42):
Power back in twenty nineteen in Minnesota. So stay tuned
for that one, and then we get Duke and Alabama
as we look towards Sunday again. Alabama with the record
twenty five threes in the Sweet sixteen win over Auburn,
you have to believe that regresses said how much does
(46:05):
it regress Jason Powers in the in the matchup with
the Duke Blue Devils for a spot in the Final Four.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
I think I think Alabama's gonna have to make twelve
to fourteen threes tomorrow night to have a chance. I think,
you know the balance of Duke the inside outside game.
Flag He played a brilliant game the other night, passing
the ball, rebounding like a Larry Bird kind of game
and just a what thirty thirty points, seven rebounds, seven assists.
He controlled the game from start to finish on the
(46:34):
offensive end, and I worry about Alabama's ability to stop
Duke on the defensive side of the ball. We know
they're not a very good defensive team. Malo watch is
a tremendous rim runner on those lobs. When when Flag
gets double team, he is finding the open guys. If
Proctor can make a couple of shots to go along
with what Flag's doing, I think Alabama's gonna have a
tough time. And we know Duke can play defense. They're
(46:55):
not afraid to defend again. I think Alabama's gonna have
to make twelve to twelve, fifteen.
Speaker 3 (47:00):
To three tomorrow night to have a chance again for Duke.
Speaker 1 (47:03):
They seek getting back into the Final four here for
the first time in three years. They were there in
New Orleans and North Carolina ko them in Coach K's
final game in the Big Easy in the Superdome.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
I was right there for that.
Speaker 3 (47:19):
What was the staff the other night?
Speaker 4 (47:21):
Fifty one threes and like fourteen two point shots for Alabama?
Speaker 3 (47:25):
About it?
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Yes, fifty one three point attempts, fifteen two point field
goal attempts in the Thursday night game with BYU.
Speaker 2 (47:33):
They didn't have to have the two point attempt in
that matchup.
Speaker 1 (47:38):
Meantime, Duke got one hundred themselves in their win over Arizona,
the one hundred and ninety three victory on that again
Alabama in the final four a year ago. Nate Oates
looking better and better and better as that higher rock star. Oh,
there is no doubt, and he signed a lucrative content
contract extension a year ago. Probably might even get another
(48:00):
if they get in another final four for this matchup.
But I think what it comes back down to is again,
this guy, Cooper Flagg. I don't think he lets Duke
lose ultimately, no matter if it is a high scoring
shootout or if it's a you know, a one or
two possession game down the stretch, whatever the score is,
I think that guy is the difference ultimately in that
(48:23):
matchup with Alabama. I think we pretty well covered everything tonight.
Anything else that we left out there about Houston and Tennessee,
Auburn and Michigan State advancing for Sunday that's coming Sunday
in both Indianapolis and Atlanta, anything else, Jason Powers before
we close it.
Speaker 4 (48:41):
Up, I think we have covered it all and give
a shout out to our guy Chris Stewart going for
a back to back final four period for the Tide
Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Yeah, we shout out to him.
Speaker 1 (48:51):
We shout out to our friend Sean Kelly, who we love,
who was in his third year as the voice of
the Florida Gators. He may get a chance to call
a final four. Remember, Florida went back to back in
six and seven, Duke went back to back in ninety
one and ninety two. Now the Yukon the last two
(49:12):
years beaten by Florida in this instance. But it is
interesting that Florida and Duke are both still alive here
for a chance to be in the Final four. So
much symmetry to twenty nineteen as well, where Tom Izzo
and Michigan State were there, Texas Tech as a program
was there, Bruce Auburn were there, and ultimately it was
(49:35):
won by Virginia. But as Deshaun Tate mentioned, Duke never
got there with Zion Williamson because Michigan State beat them
in the Elite eight game in Washington, DC.
Speaker 4 (49:45):
And for our Southeastern fans, our wrestling fans from the
Southeast from back in the day were going to have
the four Horsemen from the SEC all make the Final Four.
Speaker 3 (49:56):
Like the Nature Boy in Company.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
Walk the Isle in Style. SEC. They do have a chance.
It's never been done before.
Speaker 1 (50:04):
The only comparable is the eighty five Final four forty
years ago where the Big East had three teams. That
was Georgetown's, Saint John's, Villanova. Pop Quiz Jason Powers, who
was the fourth team in that Final four in nineteen
eighty five.
Speaker 3 (50:20):
I believe that was your alma Monis.
Speaker 1 (50:22):
The Memphis looked at me, pull the hat out. The
Memphis State Tigers now the Memphis Tigers. William Bedford, that's
William Bedford. That's Andre Turner, who's on the coaching staff now.
With Penny Hardaway the little general to guard. That was
the only thing that kept it from being four Big
East teams, maybe a Syracuse, a Boston College.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Whomever will was that Larry Finch. Larry Finch as the
as the assistant coach.
Speaker 1 (50:46):
Dana kirk is the head coach, Memphis losing to Villanova
in the semifinal game. Georgetown clobbered Saint John's in the
semifinal game and then Villanova played the perfect game to
beat Georgetown. Rupp Arena Lexington, Kentucky Jensen. Yeah, Harold Jensen, Big,
Gary McClain, Rowley.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
Mas Lane and Pinkney.
Speaker 2 (51:08):
Listen to you rattling off the names.
Speaker 1 (51:09):
Patrick Raleigh on the sidelines with the pasta, John Thompson
with the towel on the shoulder. All of that's the
eighty five Final Four where three Big East teams were
Are we gonna get three in the SEC to go
into the Final four? Are we gonna get four? They
got one in each bracket stage.
Speaker 4 (51:27):
In my bracket, I got Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, and Bruce
Pearl was flexing pretty hard tonight on CBS.
Speaker 2 (51:34):
Post the SEC.
Speaker 1 (51:35):
Yeah, there's no doubt Houston might have something to say
about that. With Tennessee for a spot in the Final Four.
That's on Sunday again. Florida, Texas Tech up first in
San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (51:46):
Duke Alabama's the nightcap in Newark.
Speaker 1 (51:49):
I was a bit surprised one more moment or two
here on college basketball Coast to Coast that the Thursday
night Duke Arizona late game did not do better than
almost seven million people watching. Right at seven million watching
not insignificant. I thought that would be ten million or more,
and it might have been more watching in the final
hour of the game, but on average it was about
(52:11):
seven million watching this game. Saturday night with Alabama should
easily be eight or nine million, and maybe ten million
or more, and.
Speaker 4 (52:19):
You'll get you'll get a big Michigan State Auburn rating
on Sunday too.
Speaker 1 (52:23):
Stay tuned. That one is the late game. We keep
talking about this. That's the late game of the two
on CBS and just after five Eastern time, right before
sixty minutes, that game will easily have ten million, maybe
twelve million or more. It's not Duke in the Sunday game,
but Michigan State Auburn should do very well with the
big ten markets like the Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, the SEC
(52:46):
markets helping out. I think the Northeast will care as
well about that.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Stay tuned anything else.
Speaker 1 (52:53):
I think we're good on a Friday night into Saturday,
off the Sweet sixteen, we'll tee it up for the
Elite eight and be back with a post game show
on Saturday night.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
Shall we do it? Jason Powers for.
Speaker 4 (53:03):
All the people hold the Michigan State ticket tonight, we
feel your pain.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
We feel your pain.
Speaker 4 (53:07):
Luckily I had I had a little Michigan State money
line tonight till it didn't hurt me.
Speaker 3 (53:12):
So I had money line.
Speaker 2 (53:13):
In Michigan State.
Speaker 1 (53:14):
But oh, Al Davis, just win baby, because again, maybe
if you're just joining us, the three pointer at the
end of the game for Ole Miss that didn't seem
significant down six, Oh, it was really significant if you
had Michigan State laying four, laying three and a half.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
Oh boy, god, oh boy.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
And the conservative belief is it was a fifty million
dollars shot for all the betters for Michigan State. Wow,
it's crazy that that went down. Jason Power's great job tonight.
