Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good afternoon everyone. It is the day before Halloween, October thirtieth,
about ten of two in the afternoon. Hope everyone is
doing well. This is a continuation on our top twenty
prospects by team. We have done the entire National League Central.
Tim and I have talked about it from a fantasy
(00:21):
standpoint for the Cubs and the Reds. On Sunday will
record the rest of the National League Central. For my
write ups. We are in the middle of the American
League Central with the White Sox and the Detroit Tigers
published on Tuesday, so that's what we're going to cover today.
(00:45):
Other twenty prospects and the system. In fact, there are
twenty prospects in every system except for the Padres, which
only has fifteen. I'm in the middle of doing the
American League West. There might be another one that has
less than twenty, but for the part each system has
got twenty. If you want all twenty prospects, become a
Patreon member patr o n dot com Forward Slash Prospect
(01:08):
three sixty one. You get all twenty prospects, you get
daily notes during the season, you'll get my draft target,
you'll get extended draft coverage from ten you get our
Discord site, you get the opportunity to play in dynasty leagues,
et cetera, et cetera. It's a I think it's a
good program, it's a good community, so I encourage everybody
(01:28):
to join us. A very Patreon member, thank you. I
appreciate that. I'm going to do the top ten here
for everyone, and then I will cut the podcasts and
do the back ten for or just our Patreon members.
I will say this is one of the systems that
is really top heavy, though, so the good stuff's coming
(01:51):
out in the top ten guys. There's some excellent players
in that top ten, and in fact the top three,
which my AI assistant completely agrees with me, with Max Clark,
Kevin mcgonago, and Hasway Bresino at the top of the list.
You can make an argument for probably any one of
the three being the top of the system. To me,
(02:13):
Max Clark just does not get enough love in Fantasy circles. Yeah,
he's mostly a top twenty five prospect in most write ups,
at least the ones that I've seen. I've got him
a lot higher than that. I think there's I think
it's a growth stock still and a guy that's just
starting to come into his physicality. He's already a seventy runner.
(02:34):
He's got really good back to ball skills, and I
think eventually that power will develop. I mean, look, it's
not going to be Kyle Schwarber power by any stretch.
But if you told me, and you know, three or
four years, when he's fully developed in a major league player,
that he can pop fifteen to eighteen home runs, maybe
even more of a few years, I wouldn't be at
all surprised. And again you combine that with twenty twenty
(02:56):
five stolen base opportunity of a kid that's going to hit.
That's why him at the top. I just think it's
a high floor with some upside. It's also a great defender.
I don't think he'll have a bust out year like
PCA did. I don't think he's got the same level
of speed as PCA. It's probably a half grade less defensively,
(03:19):
but I think he's a way better hitter than PCA.
And you know the power. I mean, PCA's got average power,
maybe a little bit more. It's a highly leveraged swing.
We don't know what kind of exactly the kind of
shape of Clark's swing, it looks a little bit flatter,
so he might not have that opportunity to yoke everything
(03:39):
like PCA was doing this past season and have one
of those thirty home run seasons. But again, I think
it's going to be consistent fifteen to twenty type of
home run pop. He did this year was fourteen home runs,
nineteen stolen bases, more walks and strikeouts. I mean, that's
a good player. That's a great player. That's what you're
(04:01):
looking for at a kid who is it just turned
twenty years old. I cut them a little bit to
Centric Mullins. I think will be a better hitter than Mallins.
And again, Mullins had that thirty home run season as well,
so anything is possible. But again I don't see that
level of power Kevin McGonagall. As much as I love
Max Clark, I do think Kevin McGonagall will hit Detroit
(04:24):
a little faster than Max Clark. I think we've seen
the reason that he is now in the Fall League
and playing extremely well for our Patreon members. You know
that I wrote him up on Monday, kind of by
every week every other week, kind of look at what's
going on the Arizona Fall League and he can just
really hit. But I do not think the fantasy tools
are going to be as robust as they are with
(04:45):
Max Clark. He might hit better than Max Clark. It's
probably going to be at third base. He has played
a lot of shortstop. He is playing third base in
the Fall League. It could be at second base, but
I think it's the air apparent to the Hovier Bias.
I don't even know where Howvier Bias is playing these days,
and Trey Sweeney is playing, but I think it's going
(05:06):
to be a massive upgrade there. So I not suggesting
Kevin McGonagall could see the Tigers out of camp, but
it's I think he's up by June, and I don't
think it's much further out than we see Max Clark up.
So I think both of those guys are going to
(05:27):
are going to be up and helping the Detroit Tigers
sometime in twenty twenty six. It's take a look at
what roster resource says on their third place is cold.
They got Colt Keith at third base, so yeah, I
mean that's that's good. I mean he didn't have the
greatest of seasons last year, so shortstop is Howvier Bias.
(05:47):
That's the opportunity I think for McGonagall, And then at
second base is Zach McKinstry. It's right because what's his
face is leaving for free agency? Yeah, name Escape Anthon
of the former Yankees came over from the Chicago originally
signed by the Chicago Cubs. You know what I'm talking about.
(06:09):
So heard at the end of the season. So I
believe he's gonna elect free agency or was just signed
for a year or two. So I think got Zach
mckinsre at second base, and mcintry is a nice player's
probably utility guy. So there's definitely an opportunity somewhere in
that mix because Cole Keith is probably a better second basement.
I think McGonagall is going to have the better arm,
(06:30):
so I think you might be looking at mcgona go
going to third base all of a sudden, Then, so
where does Max Clark play? I mean, Parker Metos can't
stay healthy. I think Max Clark is probably the superior
center fielder. The Parker Meadows is also very good out there.
But then see in right field, you've got Windsel Perez,
(06:52):
he's okay. And then in left field, You've got Riley Green,
so that's your stud out there. So yeah, I don't
think wind Sealk Perez is going to keep Max Clark down.
And then as we know Parker Meadow's mean, how many
adbats has he had over the last couple of seasons.
I know he got demoted in twenty twenty four, so
(07:14):
twenty twenty four, ninety eight plate appearances, spending a lot
of time in the minor leagues in the last year,
with a ton of time on the injured injured list,
two hundred and thirteen plate appearances in a two fifteen
batting average. Again, it was a decent walk rate, so
his on base percentage was seventy points on top of that,
(07:35):
which isn't bad. But so I think there's there's going
to be opportunities for both players. But I do think
McGonagall is probably a little bit ahead of Max Clark
at this point. The next guy is Catcher, maybe a
first baseman. I know torkles in is it looks like
he's locked into first base. I lost my list here
(07:58):
and that's Howswi Persino probably out of the three, he's
my favorite of the three. I just love Hosway Priscinea.
I think he's gonna have massive power. He kind of
he just has destroyed the AFL last season after playing
extremely well during season, kind of doing he did what
Ezra Lynn Valdez is doing this season. It seemed like
every day he was a home run. It was a
(08:20):
slash line of four thirty three, five nine, eight sixty seven.
When I wrote up Valdez on Sunday, he had hit
over a thousand slug So he's having even better season, Prisina.
But it's he's got loud contact. I think he's going
to be able to hit. He's a big guy, so
I don't know if he's going to stay behind the plate.
(08:42):
He has played both at first base as some DH,
so he's probably the more difficult to fit in quickly
into the Detroit Tigers lineup. But he's got explosive power,
and I think it's going to be a very very
good prospect and a good young players because he comes up.
(09:02):
So he have the three he's the most likely floating
around in shallow dining sea leagues and all deeper leagues.
They've been all three have been gone forever. But these
are three elite prospects. All I sing it. Where is
Brisino on my list? Here got a top prospect list.
Let me sort by team and go to the Detroit Tigers.
(09:26):
Click on the Detroit Tigers. Clark's at three, Mcgonagall's at six,
Brisino's at twenty two, right behind him at twenty five.
As a kid, I like a lot, and that is
Bryce Rainer. Bryce Rayner looked like, first of all, a
kid from the same school that PCA went to high school,
Harvard Westlake, and so he got off to just a
(09:50):
scorching start, hurt his shoulder I believe it was in
June and missed the rest of the season. That was
a real bummer. And I think this guy's going to
big time power. I've copped him a little bit to
a young Corey Seeger, maybe a Marcelo Mayor kind of
that guy that's showing some current speed. Now Corey Seeker
showed speed early in his career and obviously gets gone.
(10:13):
Marcela Mayer's got a little bit of speed, it's going
to dwindle so kind of in that's the kind of
mode we're seeing with Bryce Rayner. But I think he's
going to have Will he have as much power as
Corey Seger. I don't know that's the wish, that's the hope,
all right, that's thirty five plus forty home run plus power.
I mean, Corey Seeger's that massive raw power. He's been
hurt a lot over the last couple of years, but
(10:35):
I mean, so that's the dream. It might be more
kind of in line with that twenty home run pop.
It's just a bummer that he was hurt in the
The Detroit Tigers usually have their guy spend an entire
season in low Way before they promote them, so it'll
be interesting to see what they do with Bryce Rayner,
probably back in Loway, but I would assume because he
(10:56):
played part of the season last year, as long as
he once he knocks off the I think by mid
season you're gonna see Bryce Rainer up in high A.
Twenty twenty seven is double A, triple A maybe the
major leagues, but before sure in twenty twenty eight. So
I'm a huge fan of Bryce Rainer. I don't have
him on any fantasy team either. Number five is jayden Ham,
(11:18):
who had his breakout season in twenty twenty four. It's
got good stuff, fastball, change up commination. I wish he
had a little bit better slider, but he just doesn't.
So I think there's a chance to be a number
three starter. There is plenty of swing of miss because
that change up is so good. So I think we
(11:41):
see him at some point next season or at the
latest twenty twenty seven. He should start this season in
Triple A, right, so maybe they'll have him back in
Double A. But I think he starts a season in
Triple A, and that's why I think he's He's a
candidate to see sometime in the second half season. So yeah,
(12:01):
one of those draft and whole leagues. Jade Ham's always
would probably be a target of mine after pick forty five.
I think a guy can get really, really late, and
I think he can help. It's interesting if you go
back up to my AI assistant, the top three were
chalked with me and then number tier two. Every day
(12:22):
upside he had how Yu Lee in front of Jade
Ham and Bryce Rayner. So and I've actually got how
you Lee really moved up on this list. I had
a really good season. He's already in Triple A showing
above average power and speed. He's got good plate skills,
so I get why he could be considered the fourth
(12:44):
best prospect on this list, and in fact, is he
a top one hundred guy he is. Yeah, I don't
have him. I haven't. I don't have him ranked correctly.
So I got him way down at two o nine.
He's going to be way up because I actually have
Trey Melton in front of him. Well, Trey Melton is
(13:04):
I don't think Trey well, Trey Melton doesn't have a
prospect eligibility anymore. So he is gone. So I got
to update that. How You Lee is going to be
higher than two oh nine, So I'm going to I
need to rethink that. So for people that got the
early list, those are some things that I just missed.
And how You Lee's had really had a really good season.
I think we see him at some point next season,
(13:25):
and again he could muck up the works a little
bit for Kevin McGonagall. But how You Lee's a good player.
So if he's somehow floating out on your waiverwards an
interesting guy. Another guy that might be I don't know
if it's going to be a target for me in
a draft and whole league, but you know, if you're
on the fiftieth round, it might be an interesting guy
(13:46):
because again there's a chance for fifteen to fifteen type
of power and speed. The guy that has really disappointed
that's Thyron Lorenzo, former Dodgers kid that had the one
really good to start off twenty twenty three in Low A,
and then when he got to High A just was terrible.
(14:07):
And it was in that cold Midwest, in the upper
part of Michigan and where you know, it doesn't get
really warm, they'll troll the latter part of June. He
finally started to warm up the latter part of June.
I thought he might have a really breakout season here
in Double A, and it just didn't work. So I'm
(14:28):
really backed down off of him. I thought he had
chance to be potentially a number one starting catcher. But
I mean, it's a thirty two percent strikeout rate. He
has good, good defensive goes. He's a better defender than
oh then what's his face, Housway Bersino. But I don't
(14:49):
I don't know if he's going to hit. You know,
he might be a two thirty hitter with fifteen to
twenty home run with good defense. I mean that sounds
like every other catcher, and I thought there'd be more there.
One of my guys is fran Yerber Monteya. I like
this guy, have him as a kind of a sneaky
pick in a lot of first year player drafts and
(15:10):
supplemental drafts that we do with our dynasty leagues only.
It was a nineteen year old in twenty twenty four,
so I said he flashed excellent basketball skills plus speed.
It wasn't great in twenty twenty five, but he finished strong.
It's bat speed, it's feel for the zone, good speed,
(15:31):
plus speed, plus foot speed, a switch hitter. I just
think that there's something here and Monteia. Is this a
guy that I'm very high on and I haven't in
a bunch of leagues. Number nine is Max Anderson, who's
also having a really good Arizona Fall League. I saw
him ron Driek got brought up to Double A and
he looked way overwhelmed. So it's good to see that
(15:54):
he's gotten a little bit more comfortable in Double A
and he's having the kind of season that he's having
in the Fall league. Really good, really good season. Contact
orat a kid, fifteen plus home run type power, not
a ton of speed, probably limited to second base. It
is okay. Kind of in that two fifty range of prospects.
(16:15):
Actually I got him at three thirty one, so we're
lower three hundreds for me. So good good prospect, not
elite prospect, particularly from a fantasy standpoint. Number ten is
one of the sleepers in the organization, that is Chris Rodriguez.
He was fairly significant, a three point two million dollars
signed by the Tigers in the twenty twenty five international class.
(16:39):
It had a really good season DSL threeh eight three
forty three oh eight to three forty so walked probably
what seven times something like that, but the five sixty
four slug and that was his MO when he was signed.
Was massive raw power. So ten home runs, ten stolen
bases in fifty games. Oh he walked eleven times. I
did have that in the notes, so not seven, but
(17:01):
eleven times. So that's his challenge is to get him
a little a little bit more patient at the plate.
But there's going to be big boy power there. Is
he going to hit enough? I mean, I think that's
the that's the open question. But you know, when you're
talking about a seventeen eighteen year old kid, I mean,
that's that's why you roster them. You keep them knowing
(17:21):
what the upside is and hope that the that the
Tigers can teach him how to hit. So that is
Chris Rodriguez. That is our top ten. Again, it's a
solid top ten. It's actually a very good top ten.
The back top ten is not as good as you know.
Sometimes there's and there's there's always kids in the back
(17:41):
back half of a system that have a chance. But
the difference between this top ten and the back top
ten is pretty stark. So but our Patreon members will
kind of go through that in a minute. That's it.
Tomorrow I'll be recording the let's see Detroit Tigers. I
(18:02):
think it did. The Cleveland Caardian has already said the
mars the Kansas City Royals, right, Kansas City Royals. That's
off the top of my head. I can't even remember
the Kansasity Royal system. So I know the Minnesota Twins
is a really strong system because they've made so many
trades at the deadline. But the Royals at the moment,
I've got to refamiliarize myself with them. That is it.
