Great to see you, my friend. As always, I know
this afternoon, Joe, Rico's taking over for you with the
live streams.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Is gonna be two Joe.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
So I wore my Toronto Blue Jay's shirt for Joe.
I just got this. It was on a clearance rack
and I'm like, ooh, Blue Jays. I'm gonna wear this
next time I do a show with A Rico. But
I want to start the show with cal Rawley today.
Thirty six run of the season blow out of the Yankees.
I mean, just fantastic. And here's a stat for you,
or maybe I'll turn into a trivia cal Rawley is
(01:27):
thirty six home runs so far this season. There's only
one other person MLB history who's a switch hitter who
has had that many home runs before August in a
single season as a switch hitter. Can you name that
switch hitter?
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Can I take a guess? You can Mark Peanuts cracker Jacks.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Drop it? No, it is Mark to share a Peanuts
Cracker Jacks. Who do you think it is? Drop your
comments below and I'll give you the answer. A bit
switch hitter thirty six on runs before August? Who could
it be?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
I like that was a good guess. The switch hitting
part is difficult because I was ready to be like
switch Harry Vaughns and.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
But then to switch switch I know, that's that's a
tougher one. Switch Hittings have lost art form in the eighties.
Everybody who was a switch hitter it was crazy time cocaine.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Or switch hitter Studio thirty six before August.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Uh huh yeah, yeah, yeah, the hell is it? I
don't know, but there's someone start guessing. Please drop your
comments below. Yeah. In ten straight games with the Blue Jay,
so I'm gonna be the Jinks. They're gonna lose today
because I'm wearing the shirt No so again switch hitter.
That's the key. Let's talk about Jacob Mizerowski. What a
night for him bouncing back? Why the Dodgers are getting
(02:32):
boned by the Brewers the last two days. Twelve strikeouts,
six innings. Incredible bounce back start from him. Clayton Kershaw
didn't know who Jacob Mizerowski was. He does now, Welsh.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
That was my favorite thing because they asked Kershaw about
it before the game and He's like, I don't know
who that is that miss guy? Is he the one
that broke the ankles? And then after the game Mizerowski said, yeah,
I heard that Kershaw didn't know who I was. Hopefully
he knows who I am now. And he didn't say
it like in a crappy way, but he dropped. He dropped,
He dropped a little knowledge as well as dropping strikeouts.
(03:07):
Twelve strikeouts and ninety one pitches. Only gave up four
hard hit balls against this team, twenty one swing in whiffs,
Absolutely ridiculous performance against one of the best teams in baseball.
His fastball had a thirty nine percent whiff rate. And
one of the crazies on this too. Let me pull
this up that this was Yeah, this was factual. Not
(03:30):
only was his slider good, by the way, it was
his least whift pitch, but he threw his He threw
a ninety seven mile an hour slider in this game.
If you saw the pitch, it was just like it
just absolutely cut and killed. And Jacob Mizerowski absolutely is filthy.
Could use without Pat Murphy's descriptions of him talking about
(03:52):
that there's OUI gooey dripping off of him right now?
Is that phrasing? No thanks, But Jacob miser Rowski really
is maybe one of the most exciting dudes out there
RoHS on that I know.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Let's go with some of the guesses here from the
Peanuts and Cracker Jacks Laker guessed Eddie Murray. That is
an excellent guess. It's not the correct one, bar Pig
says Mickey Mantle. That is the correct answer. Mickey Mantle
is the correct answer. Not since Mickey switch hitting?
Speaker 2 (04:23):
What connected with me? With Mickey Mantle?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, probably the greatest switch hitter of all time. Yeah,
I mean clearly the great switch hitter of all time actually,
now that I talk about it.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
But that's hitters of all time. So if you had
the switch in there, it's not.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, a lot of people were guessing people, but they
weren't switch hitter like Ken Griffy Junior wasn't a switch hitter.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Guys, Come on, I thought my mark to share it
one was like pretty slip good, But it's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Eddie Murray would have been my guess because there was
some prolific Eddie Murray years. But again, you know, that's
a lot of home runs. What cal Rawly's doing is unbelievable.
Really now, I know I aren't judge it a home run too,
but again, switch hitting catchers hitting home runs thirty six
home runs before the All Star break. He's my vote
for MVP.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
If Aaron Judge was playing, I don't know like Aaron Judge. Also,
this is a This is another fun one. I don't
know if I know the answer to this, because it
was a trivia question over the weekend on the Mets
Yankees broadcast. The Yankees are the first team, all the
second team ever to have four m vps in one lineup.
So you have Judge who's won an m v P.
You've had Cody Bollinger, who's one MVP. Uh, You've had
(05:26):
Paul Goldschmidt who has won an m v P. And
trying to think of the fourth was a fourth one
they had? Uh?
Speaker 2 (05:32):
C Jason Domingos clearly clar.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Jason Domingo's Now who is the fourth one?
Speaker 3 (05:35):
That was?
Speaker 1 (05:36):
If somebody else in the lineup that day.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
You're you're dropping knowledge on me, Stanton, It's got to.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Be Stanton's Stanton, yank you. But that's incredible, right, he's
playing literally now again, different stage in their careers.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Sure, yes, shells of those versions of.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Pretty much pretty much the Bellinger is still pretty good.
But but that is still incredible. He's playing with four
former m vps in his lineup. There's one other team
that did that. It was the Angels back in the
early eighties. Can you name the four guys? It's trivia
day on leading on.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, you said, you said eighties. I'm I'm out, like
I don't know. Nolan Ryan was that one?
Speaker 1 (06:13):
No, he never want to Cy Young or an MVP.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Oh yeah, I don't. I'm not going to be able
to name you any of the Angels in the eighties.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Okay, well I have the names. The year was nineteen
eighty two. If anybody wasn't born yet, Joe I wasn't
a lot.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
I was three.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
And I know there's a couple here. Look at this,
Dylan rod carew Yes CC Reggie Jackson. That's two of them.
There you go, there you go. We'll see even get
the other two. Let's move on to another great pitching performance.
Uri Perez. Yeah, baby eight's drikeouts, five innings, one run,
all the Uri is back. It feels so good. The
(06:51):
patients with Uri has you've had patients And again I
went out on maybe a little bit of a lim
yesterday when I said this year, next year, I should
say this time next year, we will be talking about
Uri Perez and that same Brett that we talk about
who are the best young pitchers in baseball? It's Skimes,
scooble Euri Perez is that good. He has that sort
(07:14):
of upside and it was on display yesterday. Takeaways from
the Uri Perez start.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, I mean, this is like you talk about patients.
It's interesting because I think on the onset, none of
us were really like super excited about it, just because,
like you know, we saw what was happening with Sandy.
Things looked a little bit off and it was like, Okay,
it's just gonna take some time, and I don't think
it's a stretch at all. I think, well, I completely
agree with you. Next year he's back in the conversation
of like, you know, from a Dynasty perspective, that's in
(07:41):
top fifteen sp he's got the ability to move up
to be a top five Maybe Marlin told him back,
but he just checked the box. He finally clicked in
off that last start, and this start things just kind
of continued. It wasn't like a big with start, but man,
he was just throwing a whole bunch of strikes, getting
the ball in the zone, didn't give up a ton
of hard hit balls, eight strikeouts, only two hits. Just
(08:05):
looks like he is back. That's the big thing. I mean,
Velo is crushing. It was like a tiny, tiny bit down,
but he was throwing a ton of the fastball. The
slider was looking good. He just got a great pitch mix,
and he looks confident out there, even if he's not
quite getting the mix. That's a really fascinating question that
a Fusaro just asked, Uri or miss in Dynasty? That
(08:28):
is nasty.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
I have my answer, and it's the zero chill on it.
Do you want to know what it is?
Speaker 2 (08:33):
You have?
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Sure, go ahead, it's Uri because he's already had his
Tommy John.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Case. Yeah, I mean, I guess I missed.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Case dismissed. I suppose how else can you look at it?
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Well, I mean you can look at a ninety seven
mile an hour slider that Misserowski's striking out twelve.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
He's going miss a year and a half at some
point for Tommy John and Yuri's coming.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
He he's one of the hardest throwers in baseball. Yeah,
that's a fair point. If it's a win, it's probably
like the slightest slightest lean to Uri Perez, but like
Jacob Mizowski's throwing out like top five sp dynasty values.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
He's great, he's great.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
I don't think it's I think it is.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
I think it is. You're talking about a season and
a half a dynasty. Who knows what could happen in
two years? Who knows a good natural disasters will fall
upon us in two years? I want to win, Yury Perez.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
I know nobody ever has a second Tommy John either,
so that's really good lot.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
It's funny he never has the second Timmy John at home. Yeah,
you're too young for those commercials too. Yes, I'm just
very They used to be a commercial. But the guy
who was drinking coffee, it was out there, out there,
like the friend's house, and you know, the friend's wife
pours the guy, Oh, I'll have a second cup or
just she says, would you like a second cup of coffee?
(09:52):
And she starts to say, oh no, no, he does, yes, please,
and he has it and she goes. She turns, and
there's an inner monologue and it goes, oh, pop never
has a second cup at home, And it turns out
she has to realize it's Taster's choice and that's why
he likes it so much.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Yeah, I mean I don't have any I too young,
too young, too young, and.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Shout out to Lord Farnell who just resubbed, and knucking
Futs who resubbed as well, because obviously we're delivering a
first rate product here. There are some better answers in
here too. Bobby Gritch was not one of them, but
a good guess there. Tim Samon is a terrible guest
because it's nineteen eighty two, not two thousand and two.
Don Baylor was one of them. That's three of the four.
(10:34):
I'll give you a hint on the last one, Boys
and Girls. The hint is he won Rookie of the
Year and MVP in the same season. Hopefully that's a
hint for the fourth guy. And he guesses that. Help
you was in the seventies Welsh because before I was born,
but I knew the answer. I guessed them. I guessed them,
and I was so proud of it. I got them all,
very proud of myself.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Good for you.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Lawrence Butler loves the month of July and August. It's like,
is there a bigger summer baby ever than Lawrence Butler.
I've never seen anything like it. Once that July fourth
kicks in. Lawrence Butler gets red hot two home runs.
Yesterday he scored three runs. I mean, the A's just
pounded on the braves. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, well, I just wanted to say, like, it's also
summer baseball in Sacramento, like things start flying.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Well, last time I had Jo in August, the guy
was a stud Kylie is bad luck.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
The last couple of days, you guys, have you only
you and Kelly have seen it. Every player I pick
for the home run gets scratched and I have to
go into the chat and timestamp a new player. Yesterday
I timestamp, but I was going to do Butler. I look,
I was like, oh Lawrence Butler that I'm like, nah,
but it has just been weird. So then I went
to Austin. Riley didn't work out. Butler ends up just
(11:45):
crushing the skill set's there. It's crazy too. He's doing
this without pulling the ball. If you look, he only
has one true pull side homer this entire time.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
So he's just yeah, that is crazy crazy, Like it
is almost all I mean that they might identify like
two others as a poll, but there's really only one
true poll.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
But Hartlard, don't you.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
I know, I know, I know you're gonna do it like,
don't do I mean, you kid set.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Me up like that.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Let me not do it.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
There's no way that I mean, there's no way I
wasn't going to do that joke.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Eleven percent poll rate, which is way down from the
year before going in to us to the summer months
in Sacramento, as he's getting hot and he's still got
a decent amount of that skill set. We've talked about
what a disappointment he's been, but I think it might
be the time to buy in to get a nice
hot summer Butler, Larrence Butler. If you can, uh, Dylan,
(12:40):
good job, you got it.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Fred Linn was the fourth one. Fred Linn, Don Baylor,
Reggie Jackson, and Rod Carew all played on the same team.
All had an MVP in nineteen eighty two for the
Angels short stint there. That was when Reggie did that
little sojourn there to the Angels for a couple of
years he had I think they had gotten rid of
him and he went to the see the Orioles, and
then he was with the Angels for a couple of
(13:03):
years there. So Reggie.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I almost one time got to hang out with Reggie
Jackson when I worked in radio. I got a call
from it was like serious or something from a station
and they contacted me and they said, Reggie Jackson's coming
into town. Oh, and he does a show, and we
want to know if you can help, you know, help
out and get it set up and hang out in there.
And I'm like, absolutely I can. And I'm sitting there thinking,
(13:29):
how do I ask them that I'm one hundred percent
gonna want to take a picture with Reggie Jackson and
have him sign a ball and not be weird about it.
And then they probably felt that, and then an hour
later they were just like, oh, never, Riyan, we got
a cover. Don't worry about it. And I was like,
all right, they knew you with Reggie Jackson today, all right?
Speaker 1 (13:46):
So the Angels, I was just Angels. The A's back
to them here. Brent Rooker hit a home run. Nick
Kurtz was two for three with a grand slam in
this one, Max mnths he hit a two run home
run and did your Fuentes really? I mean eight runs
for him, but there's there might be some hope the
way we're gonna talk him on the Waiver Wires show
about a young Braves pitcher, So watch that who I
think after the break is going to get an opportunity
(14:07):
because I think the Braves are sellers and I think,
did your Fuentez has head a back to triple A
any second? Hew jake Berger three for five with a
home run in a big onslaught for the Texas Rangers
to Corey Seeger two for three. White Langford did a
home run, but his home run was with alpha position players,
So I don't want to give him too much credit
there because at the end of the night they were
just letting ni. I forgot who it was he was throwing.
It was a position player. But Nadia Ivaldi one run,
(14:28):
a zero, earned six strikeouts. Nadi Evaldi's ADP, I want
to say, was in like the I was like the
one seventies. I think this year something ridiculous like that.
What an incredible return on investment he's been this season.
So it was Nick Pavetta struck out seven five and
two thirds. He's been great, A three h seventy l
A one point zero three whip one hundred and fourteen strikeouts,
just twenty seven walks. I have zero shares. I wish
(14:50):
I had more. I'm shocked at the pitcher Nick Pavetta
has become in the last two years. We had always heard,
going back to his Phillies days, like we think Nick
Pavetta could be a thing. He went to Boston and
he wasn't a thing. And it's funny. It's almost like
he's got a similar journey to Nady Valdi, where he
bounced around to a couple of teams before he figured
it out. And Paveta has been nothing short of a
fantasy ace this year.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Sub four ERA strikeouts, elite walks are down. He is
giving up a lot of barreled contact with a little
bit more hard hit. So you gotta wonder too if
maybe I'm gonna take a look at this, If there's
like a home like the home road splits, is it
helping him? Yeah, it is. He's got a four point
zero nine road ERA with a two point three home RA,
(15:34):
so he is definitely getting some support from home in
that ballpark. While the strikeouts are up, He's flopped a
sweeper and curveball a little bit. They're all just low
batting averages. You do great defense around like a lot
of things are working in but there's definitely a little
bit of a home factor that's helping him out. But
like you said, he's such a great return on investment
and was kind of like an easy one of those buys.
(15:55):
But you got to give a credit to Padres. They've
really done a decent job of, you know, turning these
pictures that are in their major league rotation into something big,
you know, Michael King with the complete If only they
could do it to Dylan Cees. If only we could
get Dylan Ceaes to do it?
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Yeah, please, if only? If only? A fun fact. The
other fun fact out here to the Reds in nineteen
eight seventy five also had four MVPs in one lineup.
That's an easier one to guess, though. Can you guess
those four?
Speaker 2 (16:19):
You put your glasses on, you're back in nineteen seventy five.
Nobody in here was born and like it's not.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
About I wasn't born, and I could guess it. I know, See,
I was just a nerdy. The Reds is a big
red machine. Everybody had dip in their mouth and the
cleats were up.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Rose.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Pete Rose is one. Can you name the other?
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Three?
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Couple Hall of famers in their.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Pal huh huh, they're too old for me. Oh, come on,
the greatest catcher ever, Oh, Johnny Bench.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Come on, you whipper snapper. And then who's the third one?
Maybe one of the greatest second baseman's ever?
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Only you dead?
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Was listen to him every Sunday night for your entire life.
Basically Sunday night baseball every night is a kid yo
to listen on ESPN. Didn't you listen to Joe Morgan?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (17:03):
My god? And then the last one, my least favorite
player of all time?
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah, you know what. I saw someone say it in
the chat, and I knew you were going to say that.
I don't know why George Foster talking about how you
hated George Foster.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Because he was a miserable. He was the miserable guy
in New York before being the miserable guy free agent.
New York was a thing because free agency was relatively new,
and they spent on him. He didn't want to be there.
He was misery. The team got really good around him
after being terrible, and then he just he had nothing.
Left in the tank and his attitude and he just
sucked in May. Eventually he just said bye. Here's a
(17:37):
question from Lee for you Welsh Dash possible keeper Koby
Thomas or Owen Casey.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
I like Owen Casey right now. Owen Casey. I think
he's like three straight games with Homers. I think he's
a massive trade candidate, and I think wherever he gets
traded he could go in the lineup. We've seen Kobe
Thomas get an opportunity. It's not it hasn't been anything.
It just it's gonna be impossible for I'm going to
take over for Denzel right now because he's such a
good defender. So I think going Casey for like the
(18:04):
rest of this year is a better investment. And I think,
like long term they're both pretty close. But I don't know.
I think I would side with Casey right now. All right?
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Uh here goo Joe Morgan. I'm looking at some of
these other ones too, the fire Joe Morgan website. I
do recall that from Monkey Penguin that that was a
fun throwback. You're old enough to remember that. Brian Bayo,
he was great. He went the distance yesterday, ten strikeouts.
What a performance for him boy the rocky stink Jack
Flawery announced bounce back start. There six and a third
innings to run baseball eight strikeouts. Hunter Brown, though, roughed
(18:35):
up no good for him, no decision against the Guardians
that later in that game, you also had Josh Hater
had a bad night. He gave up a go ahead
grand slam to Angel Martinez. Logan Gilbert gave up five
runs and five and a third. Now here's the thing
with that. He was going fine, then the rain delay happened.
He came back and he was okay, and then it
kind of unraveled. So I don't think you should have
any concerns, do you about Logan Gilbert.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
I think it's just a no weird rain I don't, Yeah,
I don't think either one of those guys, like even
like going back to Hunter Brown, like Hunter Brown's oh
he had a bad game. It's his era has inflated
to two point two one, you know, and like Logan
Gilbert is still great. And I think if the fact,
you know, to your like MVP conversations, if cal Raley
(19:16):
is going to be a part of it, the Mariners
have to win games and they're gonna have to have
a big stretch, and I think Logan Gilbert would be
really critical to that.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
All right, let's do the transactions here. Junior Cameronaro and
Andrew Abbott both added to the respective All Star teams
in the American League and National League. I can only
assume at some point Wan Sodo will get added. I
saw a stat about him too, or he's the first
guy to have seventy walks, ten steals, fifteen home runs
and like some of the amount of home runs and
not be on the All Star team, like the guy
(19:45):
ever in the history of Major League Baseball.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
There's probably going to be like another He's.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Gonna be another guy who's like I can't go, my
toe hurts or something like that.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
I mean, it's gonna by the way, I don't think
you put this on here, but I think I just
saw before we started Junia Cameraro. Unless I got like,
you know, it's the version of NBA Sentelu that Jennia
Cammer is going to be in the home run derby.
I don't know if I saw that.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Well, I did see somebody pulled out of it, so
I don't know if that's true.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Well, if someone pulled out of it would be a
cool on hisage.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
No, it's on his Instagram page that he is going
to be okay, So yeah, so Caminaron O'Neal, cruz Ronacunia
cal Rawley. I don't know if a coon is going
to do it with the back issue, though.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
I agree, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
I know he wants to do it because he's a
home but I don't know.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
I think it's a I wonder if they would try
to replace him with like an Austin Riley or a
Matdlson try to get a hometown feel or I kind
of dig by the way I dig this young guy thing,
like bring in these young boppers, Like that's not a
traditional you would usually see. It's like, you know, Veterany
got big home and it's just like now Junior Camerenaro
James would like, let's do let's do that. Let's get
a few more of those guys hot take.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
I think Junior Cameronio is our next Miguel Cabrera. That's
what I think he is.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
I don't think that's a hot well. I mean, well,
you mean like Hall of Famer because I would say,
like my argument to that would be, like I think
he's our next like Manny Machado.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
I think he's a step above that. I think he's
above Machado, below Miguel Cabrera. I think he falls in between.
The Dodgers recalled Alexis Diaz. And this is really disappointing.
You know, just when we got our hopes up and
Richard fitz got a W right, he performed so well
and then we sent him down. How could you get
him so ready, so up in the major leagues and
(21:24):
performed so well, only to let him get sent down.
Don't you hate it when the dick fits gets sent down.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Listen, we're judge, you know, the performance. They're not judging
on the performance, well clearly.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
I mean, if we're getting gas lit here, nobody called us.
You know, got a W yesterday. Everybody seems so happy
with his performance, and now you know, now it's like
moving number. Who is Matt Shaw?
Speaker 2 (21:50):
He stinks?
Speaker 1 (21:51):
Oh for four? He is batting one fifty nine, two
thirty four in his last thirty two games. What's wrong
with Matt Shaw? Can we talk about it?
Speaker 2 (22:00):
We have to? How about a lot? Yeah, no, it's not.
This is not He has been one of the guys
not to be fair that he has not been able
to turn around, you know, like the Cam Smith's or
Jack just hit a home the other day, but also
like it's been kind of inconsistent in opportunities, and I
think the Cubs, I think unfortunately for him, he's just
you wash him away because at this point, the Cubs
(22:22):
have to make their moves, they have to set this
playoff based roster, and I'm not sure they're going to
be comfortable with him being like a full time part
of it. So bye bye. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
I think Michael's right. If this show gets flagged today,
it's because you talked about how much you love the
Young Poppers. That's definitely gonna that'll be the thing. It's
definitely gonna get us flagged here, all right. Fun fact time,
Patrick Bailey. Last night you to walk off inside the
park home run. If you miss this, go check it out.
It was super fun unless you're a Phillies fan, which
case it was misery and the Phillies stink at Jordan
Romano stinks and all that stuff. Well, the Phillies don't think,
(22:52):
but Jordan Romano's thinks, the Pullpens thinks. But very entertaining,
very cool moment there Mitch Keller. Guess what he pitched? Well,
didn't get a decision? Stop me. Eve heard this before, right.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Let me get a little part of the year without
a Yeah, six innings quality start, no win? Is that amazing?
Speaker 1 (23:11):
You earned run six and two thirds six and two
third almost seven innings. Of course, somebody go get Mitch Keller.
Please rescue Mitch Keller from the pirates, please somebody. And
Michael Harris. Okay, it's one thing to not be good,
it's anohing not to be playing. He's on the bench again.
That's a second straight day. He's hitting one twenty two
six for his last forty nine, with zero homers two
(23:31):
steals in his last fifteen games. He hasn't homered since
June thirteenth.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Welsh thoughts, I mean thoughts, he's not great. You get
kind of a win on that. I think once they
make the commitment to selling and not being a part
of it, which the Braves pretty much should. What are
they nine ten games back in the wild card and
even more in the division, then I think they can
(23:56):
just move on and try to get things fixed with
Michael Harris. So if you're worried about time with him,
I think he's gonna be out there, because why are
you gonna bench him when it doesn't matter anymore. You're
gonna work as much as you can to get him right.
He's not gonna get traded, he's not gonna get sent down,
none of that's gonna happen. But he's not remotely worth
the cost of what we paid for him. And the
(24:16):
only thing you can hope for as a Braves fan
and as a fantasy fan is that the second half,
guys like Ozzie and him can just recoup some of
that talent that seems to be lost right now. It's
it's pretty crazy with Michael Harris. Like one thing you
would have loved this is the It's like, if you're
not going to hit like for impact, just steal every
time you're on base.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Can't steal first?
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Yeah, okay, but yeah, I mean the approach you know,
when you're on like, be massively aggressive and steal every base.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Jason Hayward two point oh baby, two point oh second
versions even worse than the first three up and three down.
Kyle Schwarber two for four with a dinger, Won Soto
three for four with a go ahead single in the
tenth Mett's had a great comeback last night against the
Orioles and Jose Ramirez. Homward walked twice, drove in two runs,
stole two bases, scored three times. Jose Ramirez. I'd like
(25:05):
to put a statue of Jose Ramirez up right now
in Cleveland somewhere, because God, that guy's done so much
with so little around him. I mean, it's just it's
so infuriating. If I was a Guardians fan, I'd be
so pissed off that they can't get a good team
around this guy. He is such a winning player, He's
so good.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Didn't we have a Jose Ramirez jersey? We gave away?
Did the home run the last time?
Speaker 1 (25:25):
I just gave it away the last time? Michael Harrison
a home run?
Speaker 2 (25:27):
I think maybe I don't think that hyperbole.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
I think it was a couple of days, all right.
The downs Yesterday, Clay Holmes five runs in five innings.
We told you Winter's coming, walked five guys in this one.
Not good. Uh. Nick Martinez got destroyed yes against the Marlins,
give up ten runs and seven his and Jordan Romano
three runs blown. Save Philly's got to get some bullpen help.
They have to who is the bullpen help for the Phillies.
(25:52):
Wash predict it right now.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Go, I got it. Jose Alvarado because he will be
coming back home.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Because you can't use him in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Yeah, well that that is still help for the back
half of the year. I don't. I don't know if
they go and they go try to quiet trade assets.
When you've got Oryan Kirkran, when you've got Romano, when
you've got Alvarado, and you've made that, it is a pot.
I think if it is it's a low level guy
like Dennis Santana Michael just put out, it would be
something like that. I don't know. I think that Bennar
(26:23):
might cost a little bit more. Man talk to the
Dina Otto kem for bed or something. I don't think
the Phillies do that.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Make Abel for Bednar.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
The hell no, they don't do that. Hell no, they don't.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Make Abel for Uh.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
You're putting the closers on the pedestal. It's too much,
And I don't I think they've already put the closer.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
On the pedestal because the Phillies can't close out a
game in the playoffs, and that's the reason why they
don't have a championship. So just saying I'm trying to
help you, I think I'll tell you. I'll give you
how about.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
This, I'll give you one Andrew Painter There they put
a picture one pitcher. He's going to have to move
into a relief role. If either Andrew Painter comes up
and is a starter, then it's got to be Taiwan
Walker or they could put a I don't know if
you put a young thousand leverage six.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
The Cardinals here is that what we're doing is that
we're doing, we're doing we're doing anam is that we're
doing now? That's watch not happened, Jacob, What not in
this day and age, not twenty twenty years later ago?
Maybe not now. Nope, everyone's too delicate. God forbid we
put anybody out of their comfort zone. Jacob Wilson leads
our injuries today. He was diagnosed with a left hand
contusion and got hit in the first inning. X rays negative.
(27:34):
Hunter Green through a bullpen sessions, so I guess that's positive.
Ronaldalkuney though with scratch Tuesday lower back tightness.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Good news.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Sean Manaia is working his way back three runs three
and two thirds. Obviously, it doesn't matter what he does
there through seventy three pitches. He's going to be back
on Sunday making his debut. Quode I Sanga will be
back on Friday, So get him active, get him ready
to go. Louis Heel forty two pitches in a live
BP session Tuesday in Somerset, New Jersey. Luis Robert was
(28:00):
activated from the il Zebbie Matthews Face hitters. Some good news,
bad news for actually just bad news for the Astros.
Jeremy Pania hasn't resumed baseball activities yet, and your Malvarez
has yet to resume hitting. That's the big one to me, Like,
if you've got shares of the Astros to win the
whole thing, I don't see how they can do it
without your Malvarez.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Yeah, the division, I think that was something I had
picked on in one of those betting pros futures bets,
was that the Astros might be a team that start
I mean, they're winning some games, but they might be
the team that kind of tapers down with all these injuries,
and there might be something to be had in that division. Also,
the Royals.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Cole Reagan's was transferred from the fifteen to the sixty
day IL did just see this earlier?
Speaker 2 (28:41):
They signed August sixth, they signed Dallas Kaikeel this morning.
Really they signed Dallas and everyone was like, you gotta
be kidding me. What is this? Is Cole Reagan's news.
Even worse, they signed Dallas Kaikeel to a deal he's
going to go to I think they said Triple A
and it's like a it's a potential two million dollar deal,
So they are. We live in a world where Noah
(29:04):
Cindergarten and Dallas Kikeel potentially could be back in baseball
in a company I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Means for the Long Island Ducks Independent League. That's what
it sounds like. By the way, Andrew Painter yesterday five runs,
eight hits, and five and a third color me unimpressed
by Andrew Painter. Okay, maybe he's the new Dylan Bundy.
Maybe that's who he is. A guy who keeps talking
about it now becomes anything.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Hey, I'm just saying, let's clip that. You clip that
one minor league start turns Andrew Painter into Dylan Bundy.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
One. He's got a four nine seventy ra one. How
do you you get that after well you can get
after one, but it's not after one. He's got eleven
starts and a five VRA. How is that impressive? He's
on the PCL, So can't make that excuse. You make
excuses for the children.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
You know.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
You coddle these prospects too much.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
And they're only the ones that I love and only
the ones that I've seen tons of.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
That's fine, you can see tons of them. Doesn't make
the just saying.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
All side on Chase Burns and Andrew Painter. You can
go against them.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Okay, fair done. Shane McClanahan opened up his rehab assignment. Yeah,
that's right on Tuesday, rehab assiment. Shane McClanahan. Welcome Shane,
Welcome to rehab. Oh, it's gonna be a good time here.
We're enjoying your time with us here scoreless a whole
inning in the Florida Coast League. Hope you like Florida.
(30:23):
You gotta stay here a long time. And I don't
mean with the race, No, no, no, You'll be in
rehab for quite some time. All right, Let's get to
the best bets of the day with Joey p and
the Welsh for me today. Tyler Glassan now was back
and the Dodgers have to avoid a sweep, So give
me the Dodgers on the run line minus one oh two,
(30:44):
minus one and a half on the run line, give
me the Boston Red Sox. Lucas Giolito has been terrific.
He's riling off quality starts. I don't know who this
guy is, but he gets the Colorado Rockies.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
And a stink.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
So give me Boston on the run line too, minus
one and a half, minus one forty two. So you
might have to bet two units on that bad Boyzo's
red hot in a ballpark that really suits him very
well to hit in playing in Baltimore today, so plus
one oh five. Sagano is a gas can. So I
think the Mets team total also in play today. Those
are my bads, Welsh, what are yours? Well?
Speaker 2 (31:13):
I was a big pile of garbage yesterday, As Millan's
crew in the chat wants to remind everybody multiple times, yeah,
I had a bad day, had a bad day, so
we'll try to bounce back. I love Eric Lawer today.
Eric lower over four and a half strikeouts minus one
ten very very much into this one against the White Sox,
who have been like a top ten, top twelve strikeout
(31:35):
team overall. Eric lower has hit this five strikeout marker.
His fastball is just back to doing nasty stuff. Four
and a half at minus one ten. That's my favorite
of the day. Cincinnati Miami Nurfy. Yes, we're gonna play
a little bit of a Nerfy action today with Andrew
Abbott and Sandi al Contra going. That's minus one thirty.
And apparently I wrote the PGA and it was also
(31:56):
not caught, so we wrote the PGI, which is Philly. Actually,
we're going with Philly first five run line, so that
is up by a run through the first five at
minus one ten. Those are my three best bets. Let's
just pray I can bounce back.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
You've put me in a difficult position of defending Michael Cally.
He actually did ask you in the chat, is PGI correct?
I don't know what that stands for.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Oh did I you miss it? I didn't even see it.
Oh yeah, I see that. I never saw that from
the show. One hundred percent of Michael Kelly.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
I hope you appreciate that I defended your honor on
the show. It'll be the probably the one time it happens.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
I took blame. I didn't blame. I took blame.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
I wrote.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
When I saw it, I went and I'm like, did
I write PGI? And I'm like, sure enough, I stupidly
wrote PGI. That's me.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
I missed the days of the J's though. That was

Speaker 1 (33:48):
I like Lee's comment here Welsh's bets weren't bad. They
were just typed in correctly.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
I actually love that. ID like I could just be like,
oh I was, I'd have a bad day. They were
just a bunch of ja's in there, the Crackerjacks of good.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
As a humor, let's look at the home run board
and see what that looks like.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Take a look.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Boom Wonkee Penguin. Ah No, Wonkee's been moved to the
right side of the board. Twenty seven is the new
high watermark. Marty still at thirty five, with Whips and
the Fisher King and far Out all at thirty five,
George at thirty six. Sosa Jersey from pristine auction on
the line autographed by Sammy Sosa. Join our Discord Fantasypros
dot Com slash chat. I'm going with Pete Alonso today.
(34:26):
The number for Pete Alonzo to hit a home run
two is plus two sixty five if you want to
bet it, Welsh, where are you going for your home run?
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Call? Well, I moved off of the player, so I'm
going to tell you who I did pick and then
I deleted I was. I picked Kyle Schwarber and then
I moved off of it. He hit the homer yesterday,
He's one hundred percent going to hit a homer now.
And I moved to Manny Machado. And I specifically did
it because Brandon Fott should be throwing BP at the
home run derby. That would be a really good job
(34:52):
for him because that is just his one problem. He's
a home run machine. Many Machado has got a good
BVP versus him, so I think many of Mitch is
going to get to him. So I'm going Manny Machado.
But just telling everybody, I had Schwarber written down and
then I moved it. So we will have a little
sharp profest in July probably guarantee.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Great question, who gets more Homer is the leaderboard or
cal Rawley. I'm gonna say the leaderboard, but it's gonna
be dicey.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Didn't we have sixty sixty last year? Yeah, the leaderboard
always wins.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Leaderboard always wins. But there's nothing wrong with just taking
Aaron Judge every day and the days where he's off
taking a shot somebody else. I mean, that's a good
way to get home runs whatever. Yeah, taking cal Rawleigh
every day, you know, just just do it. Sixty one
was last year's winner. So here you go.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
It's impressed.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Special number, very impressive. Now we have the Q and
A today Wednesday, four pm Eastern. All the Joes will
be there, Me and a Rico. And on top of that,
the trade video just came out this morning.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Go watch it.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
It's really good. And we're recording the Waiver Wire video
and I think it's gonna be very important. Is that
Waiver Wire before the All Star break, So check that
out as well. That'll be dropped sometime tomorrow morning, probably
will be out. So because we got some guys there,
they're not highly owned rostered that you need to definitely
take a look at. So that'll do it for us,
but the story of the game goes on for the Welsh.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
I'm Joey P. We'll see you next time. Kids.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
