lot of big pitching performances. The Red Sox are getting hot,
We've got more injuries, trade wins are blow in the

(01:10):
MLB Draft, the Futures Game. What was your favorite bit
of business over the weekend of baseball?

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Definitely the draft. I was all drafted up. I got
kind of jazzed up for the Futures Game. It's all right,
it was okay. We didn't get any crazy amazing stuff.
It was the draft. But I will never ever get
used to the Futures Game, all Star festivities, the draft
going on. Well, major League Baseball players are playing games

(01:37):
that count like that. It just it takes away will
always to me kind of take away from the vibe.
I don't know why they do it. Just take the
weekend off, like I know, they're gonna be gone till Thursday.
Maybe you know, come back on Wednesday. I don't know
what you got to do, but playing games over the
start of the All Star weekend, it just doesn't vibe
for me.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
It doesn't playing games over the start of the All
Star weekend. Wait, I don't think.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
It's Saturday and Sunday.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Oh oh oh, no, you gotta play those games. No,
you don't play those games.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
You don't take it off. It's an All Star weekend.
Put all the focus and the limelight on the All
Star weekend which started on Saturday. There's a celebrity softball tournament.
There was the Futures Game. The draft was on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Games tournament. Are they actual celebrities.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah, celebrity I think one MVP. I think Bran Cranston
was there.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Jojo Seawah, Jojo Seawah was there. Oh my god, wow,
there you go here. It is the people. The celebrity
softball game, is it? Those are some pretty decent celebrities there.
There's a couple, you know, I mean, Jojo Seewah. I
don't know what.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Regardless of it a point, just having games being played
while the festivities have started, it's just weird. It's totally
weird to me now. I mean, it would have been
a weird sports weekend if that's all that you had.
So I kind of get some of it, but you know,
like I said, that just doesn't sit quite awesome to me.
But the draft sure did. The Draft was a ton

(03:06):
of fun and I'm excited to talk about it tomorrow
right here. That's right on our YouTube channel. So make
sure everybody's locked in Joey and I talking and breaking
down the draft and first year player guys.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
That's right, So make sure you tune in live for
that or watch it on demand. So if you're in
dynasty leagues, this is a must here. We're gonna give
you the full breakdown. I'm gonna rant and rave about
how stupid the Nationals were with what they did. It's
gonna be fun, You're gonna love it. It's gonna be
a great time. We want you to be here for us.
And then Wednesday Thursday, we'll be taking those days off
from leading off, but we will be there on the
YouTube channel for Q and A this week, So a
little different schedule this week, but by Friday we'll be

(03:37):
back in business as per huge. You know what was
great this weekend for me Urie Perez? Seven shutout innings. Oh,
it's just fantastic. He has not allowed to run in
his last eighteen innings. Pitched twenty two years old. Baby,
the sky is the limit for this guy. His era
is now lower to three point one eight. What did
you make of the Uri Perez start this weekend, Welsh,

(03:58):
because I was pretty pretty excited about it.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Yeah, I mean, URI's just locked back in. It's everything
we wanted Sandy al Contra to be, and Uri he's
got it. I mean, from a you know, slider standpoint
on Savant, you're looking at like top percentile of XBA
and expected dray against right now, it's near the lowest.
Lowest people are chasing, people are whiffing. Strikeout rates almost
twenty seven percent. Expected ray is around two. It's two

(04:24):
point three seven son around. That's exactly what it is.
The thing that I really like to see though, is
the barrel rate, and that's you know mentioned in the
like expected batting average. Guys are just not getting good
looks off of him right now. His four seeing fastball,
this is probably not going to be sustainable, but it's
inducing a point one point one three batting average and
the expected against is under two hundred as well. His

(04:45):
slider has the highest batting average at two seventy six against,
but it's expected under two hundred. So, I mean, his
stuff is just lights out right now. The strikeout potential
is there. He was able to return from injury and
find himself where some other pitchers either weren't or some
other pictures just around baseball it just took quite a
bit longer. But yeah, I mean dynasty values, sky's a limit,

(05:06):
that whole discount stuff that's completely over. And just the
thought that, like three weeks ago too, that Ury Perez
was an option between some wildly mediocre pictures. It's funny now,
but Ury definitely looked human in those first couple of stars.
But he looks back to being metahuman for sure.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
I'm confident saying it's the best return we've had this
year from Tommy John. Is that hot take this year?

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (05:30):
I mean, like if you look.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
At Tommy John specifically, yeah, yeah sure this year, this
year far and away took him a couple of rough starts.
Figured it out, cruising right now, cruising man. Now, Look,
it could have been worse for his rotation mate, Edward Cabrera.
Craig mish, My good friend Sports Grid's own reported that
the MRI on Cabrera's elbow didn't really any structural damage,
so that's good. They're optimistic that he won't even go

(05:54):
to the IL. I don't know if I share that optimism,
but we shall see. So no structural damage means no
imminent surgery. Therefore, perhaps Edward Cabrera is back on the
menu for some teams. Well, the question is hu about
holbout money money money, Who do you trust? Do you
trust Edward Cabrera's elbow here? Do you think some other

(06:15):
teams are as well?

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Yeah, I think it's probably similar to be like, Eh,
you don't need to check out that Carfax report just
to find a little discount, you know what I'm saying,
Like fine, I think the Marlins will definitely not want
them to look any deeper. But that's probably going to
be part of the package. I would say for the
most part, you know, unless you're the Astros, teams are
following like medical reports and like you know what you're

(06:39):
supposed to do and what you're not supposed to do.
And best case scenario here is that close to the
trade deadline. I think Edward Cabrera is going to have
to be one of those guys that's going to be
right up to the deadline. There's a definite possibility not
going to be shocked if next week we start seeing
some of those moves happen. Organizations are together at the
All Star weekend, they're talking, they're getting stuff done, but

(07:00):
like there's going to be a surge a day or
two before the deadline, and I think Cabrera would be
one of those because you got to see you know,
easy back as you're super close to back, and then
that's going to be the level where teams will pay
the price that the Marlins are going to want, because
the Marlins shouldn't take anything less. Also, I'm just gonna
randomly throw this out here, is they kind of went
a little college. Ye, the Marlins did in this draft far.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
We'll talk about the Martin players too. Yeah, almost all
position players, and.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
That could be very telling to what, you know, what
their storyline is that they actually might try to compete soon.
And that's also why I don't think it's a shoe
in that they trade any of these guys because if
you've got you know, they've got to they've hit on
some talent. We're going to talk about one of the
great guys in just a second. You know, they've got
some solid major leaguers as far as hitting goes. I
guess if you want to talk about like pitchers that

(07:48):
will work long term and invest in if you've got
Max Meyer, if our contrab bounces back in Cabrera, that's
what you want so why would you sell off for nothing?
And they just went college heavy hitters. Looks like they're
making a little bit of a push for the very
near future here. So it's an interesting spot. And I'm
not sure that Cabrera is like a shoe in to
be traded.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Regardless, game Ova wants to know. Did Welsh She's Superman
this weekend? No?

Speaker 2 (08:12):
I didn't.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
I did.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Oh, I heard it was good. I asked my kid
and he said he wants.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Nobody cares about. But game Ova doesn't want to know
if I well.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Because I said meta human? Is that what they're using?

Speaker 1 (08:22):
They are using the phrase meta humans.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Oh really, that's funny. I guess that is kind of
like a DCUs thing like it is mutants for it was.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
I had very high expectations because I love James Gunn.
I liked it. The more I thought about it, I
liked it more. It's clever because you know, they throw
you right into what's going on. You know, whenever they
restart a Superman or whatever, they was giving Civil.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
War, like no backstory for Spider Man.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Well, but here's the thing they just kind of write
but so no origin story. But the plot had to
do with his origin story. So they took for granted
that like, hey, you've seen Superman a million times since
the fifties, Like you know the origin story of Superman
if you're here in the theater tonight. But they tweaked
some stuff with the origin story that make it part
of the plot where they actually kind of showed you

(09:07):
this version's origin story, which I thought was very clever.
That was a really clever way of doing It's one
of the movies. Like I liked it, and I was like, okay, okay,
it's good. I like it. It was fun. I like
some of the choices they made. Nicholas Holt was really good,
the flying sequences, with the tremendous the action sequences, the
CGI was really great. But I didn't feel anything. But

(09:27):
the more I thought about the movie, the more I
actually enjoyed it. I recommend it. I think I think
you'll like it. I think it's one of those like
it's a good start. It's a good start. We'll see.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
I'm going to see it probably sometime this week, and
I already have my tickets for Fantastic.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Four for I don't have my tickets yet for that.
I did. However, yesterday I see the same theater by
my house that does all the old movies. Remember I
told you wouldn't see Spaceballs on it, the four hour
Extended Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring so good. Yeah,
I love it. Me and Mike Mayer huge Rings guys.

(10:01):
Also Kyle Stowers want It's all Marlins today by yea
on the show five or five three Homers, four runs,
six RBI. This guy's hitting five hundred. It's just unbelievable.
Stowers can't be stopped. I don't know what to say
about it, Welsh, except like ride the Wave. I did
not see this coming. I don't know from his profile

(10:21):
over the years if you did. But you know, part
of this Marlin's rebirth year in these last couple of
weeks certainly looks like, you know, based upon you know,
some of these talents like Stowers. I mean, hopefully Conon
comes back healthy next year and contributes to but Sotowers
has been tremendous. Augustin Ramirez has been very solid this year.
Like all of a sudden, the Marlins don't look like
a doormat anymore.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, and it's the trades they've made. I mean, Gustin
Ramirez and Stours are two massive right, massive wins. I mean,
sometimes it's not just about player development, it's about getting
the right players in.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
That's where py Ell kept going wrong, right when they
traded Garrett Cole or they traded Glass now or are
anybody they right? Archer like they never won those deals.
Maybe just stop dealing guys to the rais. Maybe that's part.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Yeah, I mean the Ools and the Oriols got to
be stick to their stomach because Stowers absolutely looks the part.
I definitely, I'm not Gonna'm not gonna say either way,
Like you know, did I know it? Did I not?
Like Stowers was a highly ish touted prospect. He failed
in his early go you know, Kobe Mayo was actually
pretty critical of the Orioles and then had to backtrack
a couple You remember a couple months back where he
got called up and then he got sent down and

(11:24):
he was kind of like, yeah, it's kind of tough
if you fail real quick and you don't have time
to adjust, Like that was kind of Stours. So he
had it, but it was kind of a nothing burger
when he got traded. But they put him right into
a high position, and you know, it was about a
month ago when we were having some of these debates
of Stowers and other players. I remember there was one
show where I was like against I went on the
other side and then I just had this revelation where

(11:45):
it's like, no, Stowers. Stowers has been the answer for
you know, probably about three weeks now and we're beyond
the point of return because you know, again, savant sliders,
they are elite of elite. I mean we're talking ninetieth
or higher percentile across the board. His two ninety three
average is really sustainable. His hard hit rate, his barrel
rate is almost twenty percent. He's played over three hundred

(12:09):
bats over almost twenty percent is absolutely absurd. The strikeouts
are a little bit there, but everything else in the
profile is just this really elite looking guy who's pulling
the ball in the air, hitting it really hard, and
why is he going to stop? Yeah, he doesn't have
lineup protection, but why is he going to stop? At
this point he is a little fantasy darling.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Yeah, he's getting for Averton for power, hitting speed. I
hit thirty hittings for speed. We're going the distance. But
you know what, you could also say the Orioles one,
you know or everybody won that trade because Roger has
been terrific for them. Another great story for him this
weekend too, He's been awesome. So a rare trade where
everybody wins. You know who's also winning, Brandon Woodroffe. I

(12:48):
know it is only four and a third inning, but
ten strikeouts, I'll take it. Oh, I love it. It's
good to see. Julio Rodriguez was our by low this week.
If you watch the trade show, we have one more
trade show coming at you soon week, so make sure
you watch that. It's like the final one to buy
for the rest of the season. Here Julio two for three,
three run scored, two walks at double in, a home run,

(13:09):
stolen base, two RBI on Sunday, and then Saturday filled
up the statute two three for five with a homer,
a doublest deal, three run scored, So we kind of
nailed that one. So hopefully you listen to us during
the week and you picked him up. There he is
mister second half, always is, always will be. Trevor Rodgers,
who I mentioned before, eight strikeouts, six and two thirds
as a lost to the Marlins, so he didn't quite
get the revenge game. But now is ere's at one

(13:31):
five to three. You know, I don't sell Rogers. I'm
just holding because I think he's one of these guys
you picked him off the waiver wire. He's more valuable
to you. He's probably not gonna bring you much into
trade because people still go, I don't know how long
it's gonna last. Just ride the wave, enjoy it, because
Rogers has been absolutely spectacular sub two era's that gonna hold. No,
of course not, but it doesn't matter. This is the

(13:53):
guy that I always thought he could be because you
saw flashes of it. I would watch the starts with
the Marls. I mean, oh, man, like this guy could
just get it together, maybe just the you know, lefties
just take a little longer in the oven sometimes, and
he seels like one of them right now. I was.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
I never was. I wouldn't say that I ever was.
I always Trevor Rogers.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
I used to always have him in fantasy teams like
a late pick and just kind of stashes like because
I saw flashes of it where I was like, ah,
this is tough lefty if if if And now it
looks like it is finally.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yeah, and he's locked in and I you know, I
completely agree. It's definitely my mantra where I'm just I'm
not going to put a label of selling on him
because I don't think he's worth remotely in trades what
you're getting out of him right now, and I'd rather
the risk of holding. So I'm not doing anything with
him but holding for the ride and hopefully, you know,
he continues to kind of keep carrying your team when

(14:45):
you're having injuries. With all these pitchers.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Choeyotani three scoreless things for him. He had four strikeouts,
three of them in the first inning. I was watching
that game live, so Tani looked very sharp. Byron Buckston
five for five, hit for the cycle on Saturday, that
was pretty cool, and Matthew Boyd shout out the Yankees
for eight innings he had eighty five pitches. Well, it's
just so annoying because I was on in game live
on Sports Grid doing this game live, and I said

(15:10):
to my co host Joe Niery, who I love dearly,
who is a Yankee fan, I said, you watch, They're
not gonna let him come out here with eighty five pitches,
which is ridiculous. I guarantee whatever mediocre bullpen guy comes in,
he gives up a two run home run the Aaron Judge,
What didn't you know it to run home run? To
Aaron Judge, I have to bring in Palencia and like
they still won.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
But All Star Game kind of does this though, to
a lot of pitchers, like teams are gonna take opportunities,
Joe to have them pitch a little bit less, you know,
not try to push innings. Guys like schemes, and you know,
guys like Matthew Boyd.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
I know, and I know Boyd as that you know,
a point where he's got over one hundred innings the
first time since twenty nineteen, he's gone over one hundred innings.
I get that, but he's cruising in that game. He's
he just looks so good, he looks effortless. He gives
up four hits in that game, and just like why,
like why even tax the bullpen one more day? Just
you have a whole week before Matthew Boy's get to

(16:03):
touch a baseball again, right with the All Star break
coming up. I just I hate this part of baseball.
And I understand protecting Matthew Boyd, I get it, but
it wasn't like he was at ninety eight pitches. He
was at eighty five pitches. He was probably slated to
go around one hundred pitches anyway, I don't know, man,
And then we all wonder why these guys break down.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
I honestly think we misplace what the All Star break
means for a lot of organizations. Like I was saying,
I don't know, you probably didn't hear it, but like
the schemes thing where skins that had you know, lower
pitch outings, and I think a lot of teams build
up to this time where and you've also got these
guys that are bowing out. I think Matthew Boyd, if
I remember correctly about out, Julio Rodriguez is bowing ow.

(16:42):
Guys are taking the time to kind of rebuild, rebuild
up their body, rebuild up for the second half. Pitchers
even more importantly just because of you know, pitch limits
or potential injuries that I think managers are looking the
two weeks before the All Star break and probably the
week after his times to like you know, not have
them go as deeper into games or skip a start
or whatever the hell it is. Because I think Boyd

(17:04):
they said what they also wanted to do was not
play in the All Star Game and then push his
start to later after so he could have like whatever
that would be, you know, seven eight, nine days of rest.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Rest is needed, Yeah, sure, but I mean a complete
game shout out in Yankee Stadium. That's something you tell
your grandkids about. Like, that's pretty cool, by whatever. Nick
Kurtz two for four, the two run Homer and the
rookie Loky Boy. Oh boys, he've been good here since
he've been back from injury. Chase the Lauder can't catch
a break man. Now he's dealing with rist soreness. So
hopefully it's not a big deal, but so frustrating here

(17:35):
also rumormail action here. John Hayman from The New York
Post says, at least eight teams I've kicked the tires
and asked about Louise Robert. So we'll see if any
of those teams actually decide to pull the trigger on
a deal for Robert. Mitch Keller one run, six innings,
stop me, I have you heard this one before? Right,
quality start and no decision, Thanks pirates. Well done. By

(17:57):
the way, we are twenty starts into the year for
Paul Skins and he has four wins, so twenty starts,
four wins. Splitting that out, there also Bob Nightingale reporting
that the Diamondbacks are making Suarez, Nailor Gallon, and Merril
Kelly all available. Gallen this weekend, I went back to
being bad. Zach Gallen. Six runs, five innings, very frustrating.

(18:18):
So here's the thing. I feel like, if you are
a pitching guru team, you saw those two starts from
Gallen and you feel like you can fix him, and
you're like, you know what, let's take a gamble. Let's
see if we can get him on the cheap. Because
if we do, the upside is a guy who was
good enough to be in the Young Conversation. That's how
good he was just two years ago. So I think
somebody's gonna take the plunge on Gallen.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
What do you think, Yeah, oh yeah, I don't think
that's a question. I think it's what the value looks like.
I don't think I don't think teams are going to
be like we don't want Zach Gallen. It's like no,
that like there he's off. Something's broken, and it's gonna
be a pitching organization that says, either a we can
fix this fastball or b we can help with the
pitch mix when the ass ball's not off like someone

(19:01):
will be there. But I think the bigger question is
what does that value look like last year's gallon would
have received a Hall or even at the start of
this season, what does this version go in return? And
I don't. I still don't. I don't. I think it's
gonna be disappointing. At the end of the day, diambacks
are gonna try to get with whatever they can. But
I'll tell you, man, this is why you know that
first start, You're like, are you ready? No second start?

(19:22):
Everyone's like, oh, Gallen, I said, hey, I think it
was the second or third. We are seeing some of
the pieces of what looked like original gallon. But I
was ready to jump right back into the waters, because
sure enough you were getting bit if you did with
six more n runs.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Brutle start, brutal start. But that's okay. That's okay because
when these trades happen, eventually prospects move back and forth,
and that brings us to our favorite Monday segment. It's
damn for prospecting with the Welsh. That's right. This is
when our own Chris Welsh, he was super famous. We
talked prospects and m will be draft all weekend long.
Is gonna tell us about some of the prospects in

(19:57):
Major League Baseball that are scratching the surface of the
big in Welsh. We're gonna start in a familiar place
with one of your favorites. Could we finally be seeing
Bubba Chandler after all of this time?

Speaker 2 (20:10):
Yeah, you're gonna know a lot of these names. Maybe
we haven't talked about some of them recently, but we
got to put Bubba at the tippy top. We're coming
off of the All Star break, We're coming off of
the Futures Game, it's the official start of the second half,
and Bubba Chandler has rattled off some great games and
that's the big key. I still put this out there.
I know we got to. I know it's annoying and
just talking about him in general, but like at the

(20:32):
end of the day, we don't know, because we don't
how the pirates are gonna, you know, approach this. What
we do know is that Mitch Keller should be traded
and Bubba Chandler is gonna get one. I think it's
one of two spaces. Is he's up really quick, or
it is manipulation. The viability for why he could be
up really quick is he has had a fantastic July,

(20:52):
and I will tell you there are quite a few
people in the industry that also believe part of the
issue and the struggles with Bubba Chandler has been him
being down in Tria a too long and the anticipation
of coming up and what he would benefit from having
major league evaluation on his starts day in and day out.

(21:13):
But that hasn't happened. But in July, he's had two
starts of six innings at least or more, giving up
nowhere and runs. He's struck out six or more and
he's only walked two in each of those. They're clean
back to back innings as era is under three, which
really looks good. He's had six or more strikeouts in
three of his last or in all three of his

(21:34):
last starts in July specifically has looked good. That I think,
if you don't want to mess too long and I
don't know, like create a bad era around him or
a type of thing that I think you need to
make the move quick and manipulation or not that I
do think Bubba Chandler has got to be pressing. It'd
be a really good thing for them to do coming

(21:55):
out the second half to say he is back with
the team. So we've done it like twelve different times.
But let's say Bubba Chandler is on the precipice of
coming up to the majors. Finally, after round.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
It was good to see him turning things around because
they got really rough there for quite a while. So
let's continue on with another pitching prospect here. Let's go
to Parker messek Here of the Cleveland Guardians. This year
at Triple A, he's got a three three six ERA
over seventy five innings, ninety two strikeouts, thirty seven walks.
That's eleven k per nine. Now, the walk rate's a
little high at four point four walks per nine. Last

(22:29):
season he saw time at high A. At Double A
that combines stats, there are two eight three ERA over
one hundred and thirty three innings where he also struck
out eleven point one per nine. So this guy's got
a big time strikeout rate. Cleveland has been a little
you know odd this year in the rotation. You know,
Shakoni has been good at times, Byby. His splits have

(22:49):
been terrible. His road starts been absolutely awful this year.
They're waiting for Shane Bieber to return, so could Messi
fit into this rotation at least get a look in
the big leagues this season and as they try again.
I think is the smartest thing for Cleveland to do
right now is evaluate Kaiphus, the laughter guys like Messik,
see what they have so they know what they're moving
forward with in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Yeah. I think the Futures game, Parker Messick was the
starter on the al side, and I think they showed
off two players that could be in the majors here
very soon in Cafus and Parker Messic. Parker Messic did
give up kind of a big double to fellow LEFTYJJ Weatherhold,
but I thought it looked good that slider that's it
swept across the zone, which I thought was really great.

(23:31):
He's third in minor leagues in strikeouts right now. He's
had a couple he's had in this weird like off
on start thing, because his last start seven innings, nine strikeouts,
this is before the Futures game, with one walk, phenomenal outing.
The one before that got obliterated, give up seven and
in runs, didn't get to the second the one before
that when six innings gave up only three hits. So

(23:52):
I mean he can go deeper into games. I think
they would benefit from getting him up. And also how
long is it beneficial? It's the Bubba Chandler thing to
keep a pitcher in Triple A, you know, like, is
it ten stars? Is it fifteen? Is it thirty? Is
it an entire season at Triple A? He's got sixteen
starts at Triple A. I think the left he could
help the team here pretty soon. I thought he looked

(24:14):
pretty good in the futures game, and I think we're
going to see him in the very near future with
those strikeouts getting too the major leagues.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
All right. A guy in the outfield for the Baltimore
oriole system has made a big jump year over year
is Dylan Beavers. Last season, mostly at Double A, hit
two forty one with a seven to fifty six OPS.
This year he got to move up the Triple A.
In seventy one games, he's hitting three eleven with an
eight eighty seven OPS. That on base percentage went up
sixty points. The slugging percentage went up almost seventy points,

(24:44):
so a huge leap for this young man. Ten home runs,
thirty four RBI, twenty stolen bases for Beavers this year.
So again a year where the Orioles are out of it.
They need to continue to evaluate all this young talent
they have, and they have a ton of it, what
they pitching and if they're going to retool, they got
to start moving some people and bring in some more pitching.

(25:05):
Could Dylan Beavers be a piece they are moving in
the future or a piece that might actually be part
of the future for the Orioles in Camden Yards.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
It could be. I wouldn't put anything past him. I
think the Oils have done a pretty good job of
not moving their significant pieces so far. They've really held
tight to it. I think maybe there's a bigger question though,
It's like, maybe that wasn't the right move. Maybe they
needed to be more aggressive in trading some of their
prospects for players to win now because they keep not.
But my thought process here is if they let's say

(25:35):
they just move off of Tyler O'Neil, they're gonna clearly
look like they're gonna move off with Cedric Mullens. Dylan
Beavers would be that guy, and he has had, as
you said, phenomenal season three hundred average, four hundred OVP,
ten homers, twenty stolen bases, big body guy with the
power speed combo. I don't know if you want to
fully call it five tool. He doesn't strike out a
bunch forty one walks to fifty two strikeouts on the season.

(25:59):
I think there's a lot in the tank. And as
a lefty for hitting in Baltimore, as we know, like
that right side of the field, the pull side for
left handed hitters is an advantage that I think it's
something that he can thrive in. And I'm gonna guess
that we are going to see him in the majors
as they trade some of those other guys, and I
think he should be someone that you pick up. So
if he gets traded, you know, maybe he'll be the

(26:20):
next Kyle Stowers. But I think he's going to thrive
in Baltimore and I think it'll be pretty soon.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
I highly thought of prospect we really haven't talked too
much about in a while. Carson Williams shortstop where the
Tampa Bay Rays organization now last year one hundred and
fifteen games in Double A and eight twenty one ops
hit two fifty six, just six home runs, though, however,
he did steal thirty three bases this year. He has
excuse me, last year twenty home runs, pardon me, as

(26:45):
sold thirty three bases. This year sixteen homers for him,
seventeen steals. But the average is taking a big dip,
went from two fifty six to two sixteen. With the
jump to Triple A. OPS is step backward, the OBP
is step back where all of those things, but clearly
there's power. How were their speed for this twenty two
year old? So what's the future path look like for
Carson Williams?

Speaker 2 (27:05):
Yeah, I interviewed him last year. Gosh, I think it
might have been two years ago in the AFL. Whenever
he was in the AFL, I think it was two
years ago. My timing is all completely lost. And I'd
always stand out to me when I asked him about
Junior Cameronero and he was like, Junior's the bat on
the defense, and he was really highly touted at that time,
and that kind of stood out to me as like, well,

(27:25):
you're going to need to be some of the bats
and Unfortunately, from a season total, it doesn't look great.
The counting stats are always there. That's the difficult thing
with him. Sixteen homer, seventeen stolen bases. You're like, let's go,
except it's a two sixteen batting average. But the thing
we're going to put a focus on is his recent run.
He finished June with a two ninety three average, seven homers,

(27:45):
four stolen bases. The strikeouts are still a massive problem,
and I don't think that's ever going to change. But
you saw the counting stats, and you saw consistency in
his average this month, he's kind of carrying it over.
His average is just under two sixty. He's got the
homers again, he's got the stole and bases. The case
have maybe dipped a tiny bit. I think we're just
at a point again that, like at this almost July

(28:07):
into almost August, is a point where it's like, how
much longer is it going to benefit for these teams
holding these guys down that have been playing it, let's
say triple A the entire season. Now. Obviously they've got
some middle infielders that they're dealing with and Hassin Kim,
but I really think Carson Williams is going to push
the envelope. I think the rais are going to want
to see him. He's been on a nice hot streak.
He's got some big, loud counting stats and if they click,

(28:28):
it's going to be something you want in fantasy.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
There you have it, everybody that's prospecting with the Welsh.
Go to fantasypros dot com for more of Welsh's updates
on the prospects, and of course, follow us on Fantasy
Bros MLB on YouTube. Subscribe today so you never miss
a single piece of fantasy baseball this season. All right, Welsh,
I did pull up the quote unquote celebrity softball rosters.

(28:50):
I want you to be honest because I don't know
a lot of these people, and I want you to
if I don't know them, jans Are, you don't know them.
Candy Burris, I don't know who that is. She's from
the Real Housewives of Atlanta. So these are the celebrities.
Quavo do you know Wavo? Cuavo? If you know?

Speaker 2 (29:07):
If you don't know him, I don't know him.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
But yeah, I know Crave, I don't know Quava. J
I d also a rapper.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Don't know I think it's Jamain.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Dupri Oh, Jamaine Duprie, I know, but why jh.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
It's him from Atlanta?

Speaker 1 (29:19):
All right? Fair? So I know Jermaine Deprie, uh C
C Sabbathia, I know him. Harry Douglas, former Falcon, I
know him. L Duncan, ESPN sports anchor. I don't watch ESPN,
so it's tough. Drewski social media influencer, actor and comedian.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Do you not know who Drew Ski is?

Speaker 1 (29:35):
I not off the top of my head.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
Yes, wow, that that one. Actually Drew is massive, massive,
massive Drew Ski is like, but that's in that kind
of all. He's not a streamer, but it's in that
like streamy world.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
I don't know who it was. Yeah, okay, I know
who it is. I know of them, but I would
have known my name. Jordan Chiles, two time Olympic gymnasts, Yes,
I know who that. Natasha Wattley softball olympian. I vaguely
remember Michael Kelly, actor from House of Cards. I know him,
Terrell Owens heard of him once or twice. Dasha Palanko

(30:12):
from Orange is New Black. I didn't watch that, so
that's not like, No, what year is it? Where Orange
is the New Black? Makes you a celebrities? Still funny Marco?
I don't know funny Marco. No, okay, this is the
other team. You tell me if you know these celebrities. Everybody,
let's go team Hobby Lopez has Ronnie Davou from Bell
BIV Devo. I know that poison. I know that storm

(30:33):
Red from Euphoria. I don't know I'd ever watched Euphoria.
Aladio Carrion, rapper singer. Don't know Young Nico. I don't
know old Miko or young Wico. Prince Royce a fifteen
time Grammy nominated singer. Prince Royce, you know that is?
I don't know who that is.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
No, I'm failing on this team.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Mikey Towers, six time Grammy nominated singer. Who are these people?

Speaker 2 (30:55):
But like Cranston was in it, it.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Doesn't say Cranston. Maria Taylor, I know Marie.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Was I seeing something from an old It looked.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Like it was the looking at the twenty twenty five
roster in Atlanta for the Softball League, Nikki Kosts Capital
One spokesperson, Jerry Lorenzo, Jenny Finch, we all know Jenny Finch.
So and considering it's yeah, no, this is from yesterday,
this is this is it?

Speaker 2 (31:17):
So yeah, the celebrity was the previous Yeah, okay, it's
not great, but those are some big names. By the way,
you know what's really funny. I just want to throw
this out was who Drew I can't believe you didn't
know Drewski There there's a circuit of like softball guys,
because trell Owens was out here for Kyler Murray's softball game.
And it's like, I think trel Owens is just doing

(31:38):
the circuit of it. But there's still some pretty good
names in there.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
What the hell's that John Boy Jake's story aale? What
John Boy talking with Jake? But that was a John Boy.
They all think that you work for John Boy. Everybody
here thinks that you're like a secret John Boy guy.
I don't know if that's true.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
I don't I don't.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
All right, fun facts, Terry Frank want to congratulations his
two thousandth career win. That's pretty special there. Kevin Cash
also told reporters, by the way, Drew Rasmison will start
the fifth game coming out of the All Star break,
serve you're seeing the big break for Drew Rasbiesen. Hopefully
it doesn't backfire. The ups and downs from this weekend.
Christopher Sanchez another really good one for him, six strikeouts,
seven to third.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Did you see real quick what they did, by the way,
there's huge. We didn't even talk about it with the misuse. Yeah,
the Miserrauskin drama Friday. No, but the Phillies decided. They
said they're paying him. They're paying him his all Star bonus,
even though he didn't get it. And I thought that
was like a good classy act by them.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
It was a very classy act by a very classy organization.
Yambobodo dominant performance for him, seven strikeouts, seven innings. Yvaldi,
boy boy, he has not missed a beat has he?
Seven to two thirds there for him, eight strikeouts. The downs.
Hunter Brown, he's had a rough go recently, four runs
in five innings. That's like the third bad star from
him as era has gone from one to seven to

(32:55):
four to two, four to three, So maybe it's just
a natural regression. Jose Barrios, he got a loss, four
runs and five hits and three innings of work. Tenor
Scott blew another save his sixth, so I don't know, Welsh.
Should the Dodgers be a little worried about that bullpen?
And I think they should.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Should always be a little worried about that bullpen. Let's
see if they make some moves all their guys. Get
Michael Kopek by the way, like blew out his legs
so he's not coming back. All those guys they made
the moves for. That should be the number one thing
they look at. They should one hundred percent be looking
for bullpen helps somewhere injuries.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Spencer Araghetti is about a week or so away from
minor league rehab assignment. All Christian Haavier started his already.
Yourdan Alvarez is going to be reevaluated on Thursday and
then we'll see where we go from there. Shane Bieber
is going to make a minor league rehab start tomorrow
at rookie level in Arizona. So Welsh, will you be
there for Shane Bieber?

Speaker 2 (33:46):
Ooh, I did not realize that, you know what, I
might just go? I saw four I saw Noah cinder
guard at the Guardians. What was it like LA's Friday.
I don't know what day it was, but whenever he
was rehabbing last movie. It was Saturday. I went out
and saw Cyndergard pitch, so maybe I'll go see you
bet your pitch?

Speaker 1 (34:02):
There you go see the Beebes Louis Heel. He pitched
right around the corner for me. Over the weekend three
and a third on Sunday, did I see it? No,
I was watching Lord of the Rings on the big
giant screen. Would do sold out? It was packed, giant theater,
packed with nerds. Awesome, people had ears, they had fun shirts.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
It was great, sounds like a great time.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
It was. It was a great time. Don't yuck my yum, Welsh,
don't you yuck the yum.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
Not touching your.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Touch neither. The Mets reactivated Sean Manaya clever, putting him
in now on Sunday two three and a third. Using
him that way, he had seven strikeouts against Kansas City.
He looked sharp. Welsh. Did he takeaways from what you
saw at Manaia on Sunday? Because that was pretty good
to me.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
I mean, great pickup if he was floating out there.
I love the usage. I love seeing what he's done.
I mean. The Royals have also been a little bluff
as far as offense goes, but like seeing him just
jump right back in on the strikeout side like it's
gonna be one of those dudes. Man, he might's not
gonna be uri level, but listen if he's floating out there.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Oh we got picking up. And of course Shane McClanahan,
that's right on his rehab already. Shane McClanahan Sunday Triple
A made his first the rehab assignments. We'll see how
that goes. It'll be a very very slow process which
brings us to the best bets of the Home Run
Derby today on Monday, So everybody knows already. My pick

(35:23):
for the Home Run Derby is Junior Kamanaro and I
am picking him to win the Derby at plus nine
to fifty. I'm picking him to be in the finals
at plus four to seventy if you're really afraid of
who wins, and I'm going for the over under total.
Last year, there's two hundred and twenty five home runs hit.
I'm looking at this group of hitters. I don't think
it's going to go over that. And the number for

(35:45):
total home runs is two forty and a half, which
I think is a little high for this particular group
that I see before me, so I am, and no
Pete Alonzo like some of those guys that you're used
to seeing in this thing every year, So I am
going to I think it's funny that junior camp and
arrow is spelt differently on both of these, so no j's,
but I don't know if that's my fault. Well, look

(36:07):
it's junior Kamanaro and then on your side it's junior.
Now I'm looking in the show sheet. I spelt it correctly,
but there's no j's in here, so I.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
Spelt it correctly too.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
But you got a's, got you got e's, So that's
it is early, I know, Kelly, but for those looking
at this, I just want them to know that we
see it too. It's all right, but it's funny because
it's different on you. It was consistent, consistently wrong or
sometimes right? What's better? Welsh?

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Oh, I guess sometimes well sometimes I don't know. I
don't know the answers to that.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
If you're gonna be wrong, you just want to be
consistently wrong.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
It just always stay consistently wrong. Got just be just
at least be consistent.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
Make home run calls in the discord today we're gonna
talk more about that in a second. So let's get
to Welsh's bets because mine are all junior kamonados and
you have some junior eminious.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Yeah, and I gotta be specific because we don't have
all the information because it's a mouthful on the Caminaro one.
So the first one someone asked, P five said, is
there a distance bet? You got it, buddy? First one
ONEO Cruz for the longest home run. I am going
that's about one and a half, so plus one fifty
five for him to hit the longest home run. I
mean give you that all day is you know, his

(37:22):
contact ability might be a question, but he's the dude
that hit some five hundred hits the one hundred and
twenty two miles per hour. Frankly, you could also take,
if you wanted, the exit velocity high sex velocity for
ONEO cruise. I'm going to go with distance, though my
Juda Camenero one is not as it reads here, this
says most home runs in the first round. That is
not correct. Well, it's kind of correct. This is kind
of wrong and kind of right. It's versus jazz CHISHLM,

(37:46):
so you can do versus bets and you know, blahblah
blah bah bah, you can go down the list. This
is for Juda Caminero to have more homers than Jazz
Chism in the first round. You can get it at
minus one fifteen. I really like that number. I was
actually picking on Jazz because I found a Buckston one
that was like minus one thirty five. But I liked
this better. So Junia Camenaro in round one to have

(38:08):
more homers than Jazz chishm. That's what that actually is.
And then finally I'm gonna go with Cayl Raley on
the home run derby. Plus two ninety five is essentially
three to one. I will say one thing that's been
in my brain a little bit is I went and
looked at ballpark factors. It is just a much better
home run factor for left handers here and again, obviously

(38:28):
the hitters that they have are going to determine it,
but over.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
Here, Market is going to hit left handed. He is
a switch hitter, after all.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
Yeah he can, he can hit left handed. Home run
total is nice on the lefty side. But if I
were going in a different direction, seventh best ballpark factor
for left handed hitters home run ballpark factor in Atlanta,
where it's sixteen for right handed, So that kind of
speaks to maybe Kyle Rally if he decides to bat lefty.
That speaks to Matt Olsen, who's a hometown guy. And

(38:56):
James Wood were a couple that I was kind of
sitting on because of that. It may mean nothing at
the end of the day, Brenton Rooker, but I'm gonna
go with cal Rawley the favorite about three to one.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Yeah, I can't believe Junior Cameranaro was like the second
or third biggest odds to win. I can just think
it's absurd to me. This is about two things. It's
about guys who generate their own power and guys who
have the stamina for the time clock because the time
clock is tough, and I worry about cal Rawley. He's
a bigger guy. Yeah, it's a different kind of stamina,
Like it's just different. So I think it is gonna
be a young guy. I think it's gonna be like

(39:26):
an oneal cruise. I just don't think is mentally strong
enough to compete for those many rounds. I think he
might have the most in the first round and then
after that just kind of like just check out mentally,
I just don't think he's got the fortitude for it.
Junior Cameranaraoh, that's my dude. I'm sticking with it. I
was on it immediately when it came out. I was shocked.
I got it at eleven hundred when it came out.
Now it's a plus nine point fifty, so it's been

(39:47):
betted down. So I'm not the only one who sees that.
So of course the.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Big play here if I'm betting these is I'm taking
like two. You're betting down your high odds, guy, but
you're giving yourself, you know. So like if I were
to take Cayl Rolly and Junior Camonaro, I like the
fun of that. And even though rally then kind of
becomes like a two to one guy if he ends
up winning because I bet a full unit on the other,
I'm just getting really good. I mean, like, you can't
deny that the Kaminaro odds are just like phenomenal here,

(40:14):
and you know, from a youth standpoint, his body being
able to hold up during it, Like, I think it's
a solid bet. You're probably better putting like two to
three in if you're making a bet and lowering your
unit size just to have a little bit more oh yeah,
connection to them.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
But I like to take a favorite and a long shot.
But this year I just won't trade for the long
shot and just you know, double down on it. I
just and I might be wrong, you know, but I'm
usually pretty good with these. I think I don't know
if I got it right last year or the year
before too, and I got one of the years we've
been doing this. I got the final two right too,
So I'm usually pretty savvy when it comes to this.

at the home run board, and yes, you can pick
the winner tonight of the derby that counts as your
home run call. And you can pick an all Star

(41:13):
game home run. I picked Randy A Rosarina for mine.
In case anybody cares, Welsh, I don't know who you picked.
George finally broke the forty mark forty for George. Congratulations,
still at the top. Wire to wire. You know last
year we had so many people leapfrogging each other. George
has just been the just the horse, just going. Uh, Welsh,
where are you going for your home run call for

(41:34):
the All Star Game?

Speaker 3 (41:35):
Did you?

Speaker 1 (41:35):
Did you make yours yet? Oh?

Speaker 2 (41:36):
I have? I mean my home run call for I
mean I could probably do well.

Speaker 1 (41:41):
Derby is Riley. We know that from the boards.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
Cal Rawley is going to be my home run derby
call for the All Star Game. I have not made
a pick. Do I need to make a pick right now?

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Well you can. You don't have to do it right now.
You can make it tomorrow. Kelly can message. You can
make it with Kelly. Kelly will log it for you.

Good job, Yeah you got me on that one. Or
you could just slack the wonky Penguin.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
Yeah, I can personally slack you, guys.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
I thought you had you. I thought you said I
was a right spider, But you're not so home on
Derby tonight, all Star festivities, tomorrow, the red carpet. What
will Welsh wear? Who knows? But we'll be back tomorrow here.
Don't miss it if you play in dynasty leagues or
even redraft. I mean, did you see this season how
important the knowledge of the twenty twenty four MLB draft was.
Strap in everybody, because we're gonna help you through that tomorrow.

(42:36):
Can get ready for twenty twenty six because some of
these guys might be quick to the big leagues as
we saw it last year. So do I like this
draft as much as I did last year? You'll have
to tune in tomorrow to find out. That'll do it
for us, But the story of the game goes on
for the Welsh. I'm Joey P. We'll see you next time. Kids.
