Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hello, everybody, Welcome into the cycle, Part two, the final
part of the week. I know we usually do three parts,
but this week we're keeping it a little shorter to
be nice to our production and editing team ahead of
the fourth of July holiday, So we're going to kind
of loop our second and third segments together. We're going
to do a couple of just very quick waivers, you know, recommendations,
just to say that we hit on them. They will
dive into our usual part three episode of Pitching Streamers
(00:27):
and our two start pitcher competition. Mayor how are you
feeling here at the end of the first half of
the regular season. It feels like it went pretty quickly.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
It does feel like it went pretty quickly. I'm feeling
pretty good. As we mentioned in several shows, I'm in
a bunch of leagues and the results are all over
the place, and I'm really hoping in a couple of
those leagues to get out of the basement and a
couple more to stay near the top and for the
others to fight my way out of the middle.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
I'm hoping you fall further back in one of those
leagues so that you will be open to trading me
Manny Machado, because I I need a third basement even
more than I did when I first brought this up
to you, because Josh Young, who was my first third baseman,
is now sent down to the minors. So it's pretty
disastrous of that position. And my team is really good
besides that. But that is really tracking me down. All right,
(01:17):
let's dive into Waivers Central. We'll go quickly through this one.
Like I said, I just want to give a couple
of recommendations here. We don't need to dive deep on
these guys. My favorite hitter, I have Auto Lopez, who
is forty four percent roster in Yahoo, twenty six percent
rostered in ESPN, and fifty three percent rostered in CBS,
(01:38):
and Lopez is having a good year. His batting average
is only two fifty seven, but is expected batting average
and statcast is three oh one. His expected wOBA is
three seventy two, which is eighty six percentile. So even
though maybe some of his numbers, like his OPS is
only seven seventeen, but it looks like the underlying data
is stronger than that. Even though he doesn't have the
(02:00):
highest average exit velocity or a hard hit rate. The
other kind of expected numbers look very good for him,
and he's been kind of a power speed threat. In
two hundred and eighty two played appearances, he has eight
home runs and nine stolen bases, so kind of contributing
in multiple categories. If you think the batting average is
going up too, you know, at his age, it'd be
a reasonable time to expect a breakout. And I think
(02:21):
we're going to get twenty stolen bases. I don't know
if we'll get twenty homers, but I think we'll get
over fifteen and a better batting average that we're seeing.
I think this is a guy who should rostered and
at least fifty percent of all leagues, and right now
he currently isn't. So auto Lopez is the guy for me.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, he's also a player trending in the right direction.
I know I rostered him or much earlier in the
season because he got I forget if it was a
hot start or just a hot week, but I picked
him up and then I ended up not having him
for very long because he he didn't do very well
after that. But I will say he batted two twenty
nine in April to thirty seven in May, and then
in June. He just hit three oh one, and so
(02:57):
there goes some you know, there's some of your expected
batting average there. Words, he's already, you know, kind of
turned that corner. He just hit three hundred for a
full month. It wasn't like a week or two. It
was a full month of June. Twenty six games. He
had a three zero one with full home runs, which
he came into June with only four home months, two
in April, two in May, and so and he's still
four bases and so June was already his best month.
(03:18):
And for a player that you want to pick up
on waivers, that's exactly what you want to see, someone
trending in the right direction and maybe getting hot just
in time to cool off at the All Star break.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, exactly. So yeah, Auto Lopez, for me, who is
your favorite hitter?
Speaker 2 (03:32):
So it's hard to say favorite, but he's a hitter.
But and for me, I kind of looked at this
as sometimes we talk, you know, am I looking at
the upcoming week or am I looking for rest of season?
This one was definitely looking at the upcoming week, especially
leading into the All Star break. And it's Trevor story
and part of the Trevor Story experience is that you're
(03:52):
going to get streaks where he's really cold and streaks
where he's really hot. Right now he's really hot, and
so he was. He was dropped in a ton of
leaks because for a while he was really cold there
to the point where a lot of Red Sox fans
for calling for him to be cut or to be
at least benched in This is when you know, the
Red Sox fans, we wanted all of those prospects called up,
and they weren't, and they weren't being called up, and
(04:12):
Trevor Story was just an automatic out and now he's not.
Now he's hot again. And so when he's hot, he's
really hot, and you can get a lot of power
and you can get a lot of speed. I talked
about Auto Lopez in June. In June, Trevor Story a
bad at two eighty six with five four months and
four stolen bases. And that's even more impressive when you
(04:33):
consider at the beginning of June he wasn't that good.
So it just shows you how hot he was at
the end of the dune, because in May he'd had
one fifty eight. To give you an idea of how
bad he was, So for me, this is more of
a short term kind of hot streak pickup as as
opposed to someone who is going to save your season,
but he's also you know, you talk about Otto Lope's
like Trevor story is pretty much locked for twenty twenty,
twenty one, twenty stolen bases. You probably don't want him
(04:57):
in a points league. You probably want to stick to
Rote or head to head with what some like Trevor story,
but yet someone that can provide a lot of value
in the short term. And I would go and break
down Joe Adell, who's my other pick? But you can
basically just repeat everything I just said for Trevor's story.
For Joe Adell, short term pickup really hot right now
part of the Joe Adell Trevor story experience.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I've been burned by Joe Adell too many times to
ride that roller coaster again. If you are struggling with
lineup decisions, our lineup Assistant recommends optimal lineup suggestions to
maximize your team's performance each day or week. Just sink
your league for tailored guidance based on your roster. In

visit fantasypros dot com slash MLB my playbook to set
your winning lineup today. All right, let's go to our
favorite pitchers. I gave you two Orioles pitchers last week.
I'm giving you a third this week. Dean Kramer, who
I actually probably like better. Well, he's kind of similar
to Charlie Morton and Trevor Rodgers in terms of how
(05:59):
my how interested I am in him. But he's rostered
in fewer places than those guys, which is why I
wanted to highlight him, because I think he's going to
give you similar production to them. He's been really hot
as hot me as of late two sixty one era
over his last seven starts. There's one bad start in there,
but has largely been fairly consistent in the other six
of the last seven. He's only nineteen percent roster on Yahoo,
(06:20):
nine percent rostered on ESPN, forty one percent on CBS.
Dean has always been a pitcher who has struggled with consistency,
but has had you know, very strong outings at times.
Maybe he's getting a little more consistent.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Now.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
I'm not saying this is somebody that you want to
hold on to if he gets on a cold streak again.
But I want to pick him up while he's hot
and then just be willing to drop him if needed,
if he has a daughter or two, or if I
want to stream somebody else, but I want to pick
him up for now. He also gets to start against
the Marlins next week, which is appealing.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
I would be remiss if I didn't call you out.
Do you just call him Dean a first name basis?
Just called him like your paladine.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
A lot of Orioles fans refer to him as Dean
like on Twitter, so that was just me falling back
into that. I'm not saying we are at a first
name basis.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
People you met Chase Dollander's grandparents, Dean Kramer.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Dean Kramer whenever he is a good adding. There's this
one kind of fan account in Orioles Twitter that will
tweet the scene from Community where the Dean is just
singing Dean Dean, Dean, Dean, Dean Dean, And I always
think about that when I think of Dean Kramer having
a good start. So yeah, Dean Dean was in my head.
(07:39):
Dean Dangerous also from Community. But but yes, Kramer, good picture,
who's maybe getting a little more consistent, and I would
want to pick him up for this hot stretches in. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
I would also say my wife and I were having
another child, and if it was a boy, we were
going to name it Dean, but girl, so we will
not be naming her Dean Dean mayor Dean mayor mean Dean.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
What would the middle name have been?
Speaker 2 (08:03):
I always want all of So my middle name is
Ryan because it's a family name. My son's name is
Nolan Ryan because that's fun. I wanted all of our
kids name middle name to be Ryan. I wanted my
daughter's name to the middle to be Ryan, so preferably
Ryan for all of them. But my wife didn't go
for that.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
I was gonna say, if you do something like I'm
trying to think of a good like male name that
starts with an eye like Ivan, then his initials would
be Dick. Also was Dean. Yeah that was that was
a very lame joke, but you know, an attempt there.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
So my initials are mister m that's fun. I just
go My daughters is Jim j Em.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
By the way, to be clear, I know that your
last name doesn't start with a K. I was saying,
for if Dean Kramer's middle name Wasn't, I would be
I was wondering.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
I didn't want to.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
I realized you probably got confused by that after I
said it.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
I know I didn't want to.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Again, I know how to spell mayor not with a K.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Well, not to get off on a whole name tangent,
but I will say I went to school with someone
whose first name was Tim, and his last name began
within M, and his middle name is ignatious, so his
initials were Tim.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
His initials were Tim. That's pretty good. Yeah good.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
I would be more interested back to Dean. I would
be more interested in Dean Kramer if I knew he
was going to be traded, and I looked up his
contract while you were talking. He has two more years
of arbitration. Is there any chance? From where you sit
to eat, would the Orioles move Dean Kramer?
Speaker 1 (09:35):
I don't think so. They value control controllable years so
much that I don't think they would, And they also
just have so much need at pitching that I don't
think they would want to get rid of him. I
could be wrong, but I wouldn't expect him to get moved. Okay.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
If not, then this would have to be more of
a short, short term move for me. I don't have
a ton of interest in Dean Otherwise, I'm just going
to keep calling Dean forever now.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
I support it, all right. Who's your favorite pitcher?
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Mine is Michael Soroka. Mike Soroka, perhaps if we're on
a first name basis, who really you know, like if
you if you followed baseball for a while, He's at
a really interesting journey towards Achilles twice, came back as
a reliever, is now starting again and is now looking
pretty good all of a sudden, and he's he's a
name that could be moved at the trade deadline. Over
(10:21):
the last two weeks, he's a top fifteen starting pitcher,
and over the last month he's a top nineteen starting
pitcher according to VBR with a three point oh four
x CIRA. And so someone who's just like I wouldn't
count him, you know. In a previous segment we talked
about pitchers outside of the top twenty five who could
be in the top twenty five going forward. I don't
(10:41):
necessarily think he's that close of, you know, being in
the top twenty five, but I do think he's going
to have some fantasy value here soon, just because he's
been pitching well. He's been striking guys out. His ERA
is four to seven, but all his expected numbers are
much better than that. FIP is four to three x
fIF three seven six, Sierra three three five, and I
already said the XCRA is three point zero five with
(11:03):
a one point zero three whip. Just someone who's been
kind of quietly pitching really well recently, and someone that
has my eye, especially as someone he has a he's
a former first round pick from many, many moons ago.
I think it was like a decade ago, his first
round pick. Still only twenty seven, though, and so he's
someone who has a little bit of pedigree. He's dealble
some kind of freak injuries. He wasn't a big heist,
(11:25):
he wasn't a high strikeout pitcher. For a while he was.
He was a, you know, a week pitched to week
contact kind of pitcher. But now he's kind of reinvented
himself and it's very intriguing.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Deep league targets. I put one name down here at
Ramon Loreano, just because I keep giving these orioles pictures.
I was like, I want to give an Oriels say
or too. He's just been hitting really well lately. This
is like just a hot streak that you know I
would pick up and try and ride. But he's been
honestly one of the Orioles best players the last few
weeks here. He's already got ten home runs, which is
one shive of his total of last year. He's batting
(11:57):
almost two eighty ops is eight sixty eight and he's
just looked pretty good. So and the eye test like
he's been passing it watching him every day. So I would, uh,
I would give a look to Ramon Laiano if you
need help in like a deeper outfield.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
League, more deeply targets, and some of them will probably
talk about a little bit as part of the pitching
streamers as well, because there's a couple there's a little
bit of overlap there. Noah Cameron has been pretty good recently.
We've talked about him recently. His a lot of these
players I looked up and I was like, you know,
maybe I won't include these players because they're pbably gonna
(12:31):
be roster in too many places, and they just weren't,
and so their roster numbers were so low that even
on even on a site like a sharper site like CBS,
I was like, Okay, I have to include these because
you know, in your standard like ten or twelve team
head to head, maybe maybe these aren't rostered guys, although
I think I think you can argue that they could be.
But in like twelve team roto and deeper, I think
(12:53):
I think these are must roster guys. Noah Cameron has
been really good. He's He's also lined up up for
two starts this week. You could say the same thing
for Brian Bao, he's been really good recently, is also
lined up for two starts this week. Both of those
I think, you know, even if you're just if you're
streaming pitchers in a deeper league or if you need
extra pitchering in a deeper league, I would I would't
take a look at both of those guys. And then
(13:15):
we already mentioned Joe Adell, but his roster numbers probably
because people are like you and like me, they've been
burned too many times by Joe Adell. Although I've never
been like that that interested, and so I haven't been
burned as many as much as others. But he's someone
who's hot right now, and there's a lot of value
in just like riding a hot hitter. And it's the
kind of thing where you ride him if he's hot
for a week or two, three weeks, you know, you
(13:37):
get three weeks out of him great, and if they
cool off, you just drop him and you move on
and you know you're not like married to these players. Yeah,
that's the list. That's what I got for you this week.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
I love players that are very easy to drop. That's
often the hardest part of waivers is not who do
I want to pick up, it's who do I drop
to make room. So a player that I know, if
they're not playing well, I won't have any problem dropping.
Very appealing to me.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Yeah, Culton, Cal's a he's an other name. I know
you mentioned him. I think last week he's a deep
league target.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
You can you Canfi's so I mentioned it. He's back
from all right, let's go to the streamers for next week.
You got some for every day. It looks like, well,
it looks like you have one day as always that
we don't like anybody, not Friday, surprisingly, but we'll get
to that day when we get to it. Who do
you got from Monday start us off?
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Not Friday, surprisingly, surprisingly a false slight day too, you know,
usually Thursday or Friday or the day. So for Monday,
we just mentioned Noah Cameron, but Noah Cameron has a
Monday matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates, who their offense has
been a little better recently, but it seems like it's
cooling off again, so we don't have to be too
afraid of it. There's still a top five offense to
target in fantasy. And I'll mention this again at the
(14:47):
end of the week. But if you are in a
weekly league and you want to stream no Cameron, you do.
You are going to get two starts out of him,
or you're at least projected to get two starts out
of him for now, and the first start is against
the Pittsburgh Pirates at home on Monday. I considered some
other names. I didn't want to anger the YouTube commenters
by mentioning Shane Boz, but he's an option here. He
(15:10):
is at Detroit though, and so as much as I
just don't understand how the Tigers are good, and I
think there's if they were in a different division, I
would predict kind of a second half falloff for the Tigers,
but I think they're probably in a division they can
hold on too, but still not an offense I want
to target right now, same thing. Land and Roupe against
the Phillies. I'm a little interested in Brady Singer against
(15:31):
the Marlins, but I'm much more interested in Noah Cameron.
Brady Singer I think has a lower floor and probably
a lower ceiling than Noah Cameron. Also, Jansen junk Is pitching.
Don't have a ton of interest in him, but very
fun pitcher name. Jansen junk so worth rostering for name
value alone if your team stinks. On Tuesday, Jose Siriano
(15:54):
against the Texas Rangers, another top five offensive target and fantasy.
He is the name that stuck out to me the most.
But also Eury Perez is surprisingly not rostered in a
lot of places. He's only his consensus roster percentage of
phantaspres is only eleven percent. That's way too low for
someone who has that kind of talent. He is at
the Reds, so not necessarily the lineup I want to target,
(16:17):
not the ballpark I want to target, But he's the
kind of picture you could pick up and stream and
keep for several weeks or maybe even keep for the
rest of the season. So he's as much as he's
a streamer, he's also a potential stats from stash for me.
So I would consider picking up Uriy Perez, especially you know,
like you're you know, be as I say, your on
it was fine, but he's nothing more than a streamer,
whereas eury Perez could potentially be very valuable for you
(16:39):
in the second half. On Wednesday, Eric Lauer been pitching
very well and he gets the White Sox, and so
that was the name that jumped out to me immediately.
There's a surprising amount of pictures that you can target
on Wednesday, but that's the name that stuck out to
me the most, who's most likely to be available and
also has a good matchup. I also wrote down Lucas
(17:02):
Giolito against the Rockies. Lucas giolito experience has been a
little interesting this season, so it's kind of tough to
trust him, although he has been better, but I have
been burned by Lucas Giolido, so I'm not really racing
out to trust him. But if you do, if you
want the innings, Giolito there's a ton about the pictures.
There's Berlander, but he gets the Phillies. I'm staying away
(17:22):
from that. Kamar Rocker against the Angels. I'm still a
little nervous about Kamar Rocker. The same thing with Lance mccollors.
There's been some very good lancema colors and some very
bad Lance mccolors, and I'm not ready to get back
into bed with lancem colors. I do like Dustin May
against the Brewers as well, though we're on halfway. What
(17:43):
you have any comments on those before? I keep coming?
Speaker 1 (17:46):
No? No, okay, correct, No, I don't have anything that
I really like disagree with you on, so I didn't
feel they need to add anything. But I think most
of your picks have been the correct ones for those
days so far.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
I'm so glad I could appease you. Thursday. I just
mentioned him in the waivers section, but Mike's Soroka, so
if you're gonna pick him up for waivers, you might
as we pick him up and stream him as well. So,
Mike Soroka not the best matchup against the Cardinals in
Saint Louis, But not that it doesn't scare me. But yeah,
(18:17):
someone someone I really like someone's been pitching a lot better,
Mike Soroka. And again he's someone I think more than
just a streamer. He someone you can potentially hang on to.
Thursday is a small slate, so there weren't a ton
of names to pick from. I already made the Shane
Boz joke at the top, but on Thursday, there's Toge Bradley.
You know, if you consider those two pictures interchangeable, Taj
Bradley is the top ranked player on this Pitchure streaming tool,
(18:40):
but he is at Boston, and Boston doesn't have the
best lineup this year, and they strike out a ton,
but they also, as we've seen, you know, they just
did it to Jay Spurns. Their lineup is so unpredictable
that I don't necessarily love streaming against them because they
might just go out and score no runs and strike
out fourteen times, or they might drop fourteen runs on you,
and so I don't really want to target them, especially
(19:02):
in Boston. Nicolodola is probably over rostered, and he's probably
rostered in your league, but his consensus roster percent is
only fifty percent, and he's got some Marlin. So if
Nickeolodola is available. I would stream him, but he's probably
rostered in your league if it's a if it's a
at least medium, sharp and active league, he's probably already rostered.
So Soroco would be my top choice. Your boy Charlie
(19:23):
Morton is probably available, but he gets the Mets, so
not the best matchup, and I don't think I would
want to dig much deeper than that for Friday. Surprisingly,
Friday is usually a tough day for us, but there
was a bunch of options here. I know you don't
like Max Scherzer, but I think if Max Scherzer can
be healthy and stay on the mound, I think he
(19:43):
can be good. The problem is that we just he
just might never be healthy again. But I do think
there's a real possibility that he's valuable in the second
half if he can stay on the field, which is
not a given because he's had like a weird thumb
thing for a while now, and it just it's a
possibility at the end of the road and this is
like his last chance. But if he can stay on
the mound, I still think he can be good. So
(20:04):
he's the top streaming option on Friday. He's at the Athletics.
I would have been less inclined to stream against the
Athletics like three or four weeks ago, but they've just
not been great. Tyler Soderstrom has taking a step back.
Nick Kurtz has look good, Jacob Wilson looks great. But
what was once a very scary lineup is less scary now.
Although I do think they have the kind of talent
(20:25):
that they can just, you know, get hot. They have
Brett Rucker, Lawrence Butler. You know they can put a
hurting on you if they kind of all get right
at the same time. But for now, not terrified to
stream against them. Even though they're not they don't count
as the top five offensive stream against the other name
Gavin Williams against the White Sox. Gavin Williams was really
bad earlier in the air, but he's been much better
of late, and so he has a favorable matchup against
(20:47):
the White Sox on the road. It's on the road,
but it's also pretty favorable ballpark for pitchers. And then
Jase Burns against the Rockies.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Are you ready surprised to see I just thought of
how he can be. I think I feel like you
need to see another good start from him coming off
of what we just saw.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
I think that's fair. I also think he's going to
bounce back, and I also I.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Think he probably will bounce back. I don't disagree with that,
but to be streaming him, like I.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Here's the thing in this is not his next start,
so like by the time you have to stream him,
you will have seen one more start. So if he
gets lit up again, don't start him. But if he
looks fine, then stream him against the Rockies or you know,
just pick him up now. So yeah, it's kind of
hard to think about it because you're like, I think
you might pitch like he's pitching this weekend because he
(21:38):
was a two star pitcher, my two star pitcher for
the week unfortunately. But yeah, I've still confident he's gonna
turn things around. I really think he was like tipping
his pitches and the Red Stars has caught him and
then he's going to be fine. So that was for Friday,
and I think, did I have a few more names here?
Quinn Priester has been pitching, well, he gets the Nationals,
(22:00):
your boy Dean Kramer has the Marlins, so there's a
decent number. Usually Friday week you don't have anyone. There's
a decent number of pictures to stream. Also, this is
his name is toward the bottom of the list, But
Tyler Anderson just continues to be solid. He doesn't have
like incredible strikeout numbers, but he just continues to have
a really solid season and it's just not rostered anywhere.
So like in deep leagues, I just keep using him.
(22:23):
Saturday is the day this week that I have kind
of I marked it down as a stay away. I
wrote the opposite of a name. I wrote stay away
from Brandon Woodruff. It looks like it's going to be
his first start back off the injured list, not he's
had such a lengthy layoff and such a long rehab.
Even though he has a decent matchup against the Nationals.
(22:43):
There's no way I'm starting Brandon Woodruff in in his
first start off the album. We have no idea what
this is going to look like. He hasn't pitched in
the majors in so long, So I wrote Saturday is
a stay away question mark, but then also not Brandon
Woodruff period exclamation point. There was some thought that Sean
Mania could could be back on Saturday. It looks like
that probably is not the case anymore, but he's supposed
(23:07):
to make one more rehab start it sounds like on Tuesday,
so it's possible Sean Maya is back on Saturday as well,
but again i'd probably stay away from him, as you
know too. Even though starting pitchers in their first start
off the AL is always kind of tricky, but when
you have really lengthy layoffs like these two pictures have
had more so Brandon Woodroff than Sean Mayah, it's even
more concerning. And then Shane Boz not Tosh Badley, but
(23:31):
Shane Bozz has the Red Sox at Boston, again not
targeting that. And yeah, there's not a lot of other
names I would get too excited about. Trevor Rodgers against
the Marlins would would be my probably my pick if
I had to make a pick. Yeah, that's pretty much it.
And then Sunday Verty mention Hi a few times in
(23:51):
the show, but Uri Perez gets your Baltimore Orioles. And
the other name I have down is Noah Cameron gets
the New York Mets. And what I wrote down for
both of them is that if you know some a
lot of managers are in daily leagues, some are in
weekly leagues. If you're looking to stream in a weekly league,
you Reprise and Noah Cameron are both two star pitchers.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
This week, I get worried about Cameron against the Mets. Yeah,
it's not ideal as a two start pitcher like I.
Obviously against the Pirates is a lot more appealing it is.
What do you think of the Orioles as a matchup
for streamers? Like? I feel like they should be scarier,
(24:35):
but they in practice often aren't.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
That's kind of how I feel about them. I mean,
how many runs did they scored in that game the
other day? It was like twenty two or something.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Yeah, but that was like half their runs for the week.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Yeah, I know they do have that in them. I
mean the Red Sox are similar in that the lineup
is just not great until one day it is.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
Yeah. All right, let's go to our two star picture competition.
So first of all, this current week that's going on,
I have Garrett Crochet, you have Chase Burns. Do we
want to just give me the win now? Or? I
mean that was as bad as start as you could
have gotten from Chase Burns to kick things off.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Yeah, one out, so one out and give up six runs.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
The last completed week. I actually think is the closest
matchup we have ever had in this competition really, and
I don't know, like I borderline just want to give
it a tie. So you hit Brian Wu and I
had Ranger Suarez, you had three more Fantasy points in
our league settings, that is the exact difference of Suarez
(25:42):
got a loss and Wu didn't. But Suarez's loss came
in a game where he gave up one run in
seven to a third innings, and it was just like
his the Phillies scored zero runs. So it hardly seems
fair to like if that's the difference in the matchup
when he really shouldn't have gotten a loss to give
him the loss. If you look at not the win
loss record, but just the actual like stat line, Suarez
(26:06):
had fourteen to two thirds innings, eight hits, two earned runs,
three walks, fifteen strikeouts. Wu had twelve innings, eleven hits,
two earned runs, three walks, eighteen strikeouts. So Wu had
three more strikeouts, but Suarez had the same runs allowed
in three more innings, almost three more innings, and also
(26:27):
a better whip. He had a couple of fewer hits,
so it's basically like the better era and Whip versus
a few more strikeouts otherwise like essentially the same. Truthfully,
I almost just want to give us a tie, like
I think this is like a dead even.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
I'm willing to give it a tie just because it's
Ranger Suarez.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
And then I knew. I knew you were gonna give
the extra buves to Suarez.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
I mean, we have I'm not in the business of
giving Ranger Suarez losses on this show.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Yes, I'm going to officially lock it in as our
first ever tie in the two start pitcher competition, so
it is now five to four to one you, but
I'm likely to win this week, so it's likely to
be five and five with one tie going into this
upcoming week. Remember, even though we are eleven completed weeks in,
(27:17):
we skipped two weeks ago because both pictures that we
picked only ended up starting one game each, so we
did not count that week. So that's why we are
kind of a week behind here if you're doing that math,
which I'm not sure if anybody was. For this upcoming week,
I decided it was finally time to pull the trigger
and use Paul Skeens. I had not used him yet
this season and just felt like it was time. Also,
(27:38):
the matchups at Kansas City at Minnesota I was comfortable with.
He's had a couple of downstarts in a row, so
I kind of feel like he might just be due.
So yeah, now felt like the right time to use Skeens.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Great. I did not put a name in the sheet beforehand,
but I'm going to go with Hunter Brown, who is
just maybe a si on favorite or young candidate, and
maybe he's not the favorite in the American League because
if you know TWEK school will exists, but having about
as good of a season as you can have. He's
got a one point a two e r A and
his matchups are against the Guardians and against the Rangers,
(28:13):
both at home, and.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
So I would have picked Hunter Brown, but I used
him back in week three, so he was not available.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
I just said, but I just had to make sure
that I didn't And I searched for Hunter in the
in the sheet and was like, oh darn, I already
re used him, But then I realized it.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Was Hunter Green, So yeah, I've used Hunter Brown already.
Otherwise I think that was a very good So great matchup. Honestly,
Skians versus Brown. Who is he facing again? I'm ready
in this in the U.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
He gets He's verse the Guardians and then verse the Rangers.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Okay, all right, so hunder Brown versus Paul Skans. That's
a fun one. Like I said, I'm likely to win
this week, which will put us at assume me dead
even going into the final week before the All Start breaks.
So super fun stuff. Any other final thoughts before we
get out of here.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Yeah, I really need garat Crochet to get lit up,
or maybe like three rainouts and they just don't start
him this weekend.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
I think with as bad as Chase Burns was even
a one start, Crochet still gets the win over him. Rybe,
I was thinking, I was wondering for our picks because
this is the last week before the All Star break, right,
I'm not doing that math wrong boo.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
I think the following week is the All Star break.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Yeah. Yes, So the reason I bring that up is
because I wonder if some of these really good pictures
if they wind up finagling the schedule at all so
they can pitch in the All Star Game. We both
picked very good pictures, so we'll see how that pans out,
but somebody keep an eye on for this week. For
now we have Schemes and Hunter Brown as our picks.
So yea, let's go ahead and get out of here
(29:46):
on that. I hope everybody enjoys Fourth of July. If
