And unless Nate has something prolific that he's going to say,
this is what you're going to get from OTAs. I
mean you you you can tell absolutely nothing with the
interior guys until you put pads on. Doesn't matter what
interior guys do. The one thing I was just looking for,
and he kind of saw that a little bit in drills,
how they were like they broke into different drills was communication,

especially defensively. That was a that was a point of
contention last year with the Cowboys and Maddieberflus and his
defense blown assignments, failure, communication, Uh, just all across the board.
So I wanted to see out there right under Christian Parker,
how is this group communicating? And they they they had
some drills when you saw, you know, some of the receiver.
(05:14):
Like we're called the pass off drill right, So it's
like you're playing coverage and if one wide receiver one
number two comes to leave your zone into another zone,
are you guys communicating at Don't just say oh, I
got him and that you know you got him. No, no, no,
let the other guy know got him, got him, have
got him so that now he knows you got to
get back outside. He's now in my zone. I've picked
him up, and now I have to drive through. They
(05:35):
worked with some things, you know, along the back of
the end zone. So I was just looking for communication
defensively and seeing what guys were gonna play where it
was okay, i'll say this and i'll leave I'll leave
the player's name out of it. But it was I'll
tell you, I'll say this two things. This player was
here last year. This players This player was also a

player who you're who you need to have a good year.
But watching this player in a drill, two players went
in front of this guy ran the drill, said player
then gets up in the same exact drill runs it wrong.

And and to those people, well, that's just nothing, it's
just Ohtas, that's the same thing that you dealt with
last year, the ability to lock in and focus. Two
guys went in front of you and did it right.

and do it again. It's those small details from a

from a guy who's been in the league, a guy
who you need to perform. And I know you guys
saying Jesse, you're overdoing it. You you you you, you

it right. And this is a guy who you're looking
for in a major way.

performance of this Cowboys defense last year. He, like many others,
have a hand in how bad it was. But I'm sorry,
a lot of that, to me, goes on Seventy five

percent of that goes to the players. Seventy five percent
that goes to the players, because I watched the guy
who was a part of that defense last year, who
could not communicate, did not communicate, was confused, And I
saw it now under Christian Parker, a dude who came
up in the drill. Two guys went before you, and
you came in and ran it wrong. That's what Matt

Eberfuus had to deal with last year. A bunch of
a bunch of those types.

To me, that's not processing, that's just not taking care
of your own business.

you hear it, and your body doesn't do what it's
supposed to do or doesn't understand.

route where you rent, you ran in four yards, then

four yards and fade back out. I'm sitting there watching it.

Keep your eyes on this guy is he runs up,
the receiver, runs up, go two to three yards, turns
go back the other way. What they are trying was
trying to show them is once we get inside of ten,
we get into the the red zone, the end zone,
don't put your eyes when that quarterback, especially when we're

playing a man defense, do not put your eyes on
that quarterback. Well, anyway, what I liked it about it
was everybody was a tendant. Everybody, whether they was listening
to these coaches or not, everybody was looking at them

See that would get rectified. See because now you're not
the majority, you're the minority. So that'll get rectified. Either
get with it or you don't play as much. So
but the majority of these guys were paying attention. I'm

Everybody is finally looking at the coach. Now I got
there late. You guys, tell me, was a bunch of
guys walking on the because we used to have fifteen
to twenty guys practice already been gonna start it, So
fifteen twenty guys just come walking out late. No, that's
the difference, fellas, That's that's the difference. When you see

coach say, hey, the horn blow, everybody to take off
and everybody start running. Not one guy take off his
hell man, the other guy take off his shoes. Man,
I got enough. Even the guys that were over the
rehabit was doing it with some enthusiasm. And I know
this is early, and I know you may not see
that same thing three weeks in the training camp, but

right now everybody's tentative, and that is a difference than
last year. That is, to me, is a major difference.

portion of his body looks good. So you know, and
I know that he's rehabbing, so you know, he's kind
of getting some of that. Maybe there's a couple of
excess pounds that he's trying to work off. That will happen,
but uh, yeah, he looked he looks solid like, he
looked more like he's ready to take on those tackles
and be more of a force in a physical manner
with the bigger lower body. So we'll see.

in the market. So what happens now is what was

high today tomorrow it's higher tomorrow because guess what, Polka's
coming up right, Pooka is gonna get his deal. So
now what happens is when Pooka looks up there and
he goes JSN, Chase, Jefferson, Uh, those guys London, London.

those Chase deal, Chase deal and Jaysn deal, is he
gonna look up, goes, well, I got I got better
numbers than JSN and Chase deal is old. That's that's
two three years old now, so now I gotta get
above that. So what you didn't want to pay this year,

all of a sudden, now these other deals get done,
Push that other forty down, and now you're back next
year having to pay the forty like this is because
my thing is and this is knock on wood. If
George Pickens, the only thing that is stopping George Pickens

from amassing another thousand yard season is him not being
on the field and this offense across from that other receiver,
he gonna get a thousand. He gonna for sure. I'll

this is what you're going to get from OTAs. I
mean you you you can tell absolutely nothing with the
interior guys until you put pads on. Doesn't matter what
interior guys do. The one thing I was just looking for,
and he kind of saw that a little bit in drills,
how they were like they broke into different drills was communication,

especially defensively. That was a that was a point of
contention last year with the Cowboys and Maddieberflus and his
defense blown assignments, failure, communication, Uh, just all across the board.
So I wanted to see out there right under Christian Parker,
how is this group communicating? And they they they had
some drills when you saw, you know, some of the receiver.

Like we're called the pass off drill right, So it's
like you're playing coverage and if one wide receiver one
number two comes to leave your zone into another zone,
are you guys communicating at Don't just say oh, I
got him and that you know you got him. No, no, no,
let the other guy know got him, got him, have
got him so that now he knows you got to
get back outside. He's now in my zone. I've picked
him up, and now I have to drive through. They
(05:35):
worked with some things, you know, along the back of
the end zone. So I was just looking for communication
defensively and seeing what guys were gonna play where it
was okay, i'll say this and i'll leave I'll leave
the player's name out of it. But it was I'll
tell you, I'll say this two things. This player was
here last year. This players This player was also a
(05:58):
player who you're who you need to have a good year.
But watching this player in a drill, two players went
in front of this guy ran the drill, said player
then gets up in the same exact drill runs it wrong.

That's all that.

And and to those people, well, that's just nothing, it's
just Ohtas, that's the same thing that you dealt with
last year, the ability to lock in and focus. Two
guys went in front of you and did it right.
You got up, did it wrong, had to be called out.
Now he was called out, was made to go up
and do it again. It's those small details from a

from a guy who's been in the league, a guy
who you need to perform. And I know you guys
saying Jesse, you're overdoing it. You you you you, you
do you a hater, you're doing that thing again. And
I'm like, this are these are the small things. And
I know it's just June and it's just ot as.

But two people went in front of you and did
it right. And this is a guy who you're looking
for in a major way.

they was all and everybody was trying to just pile
on Matt Eberfus. I'm not abslving Matt Eberfus of the
performance of this Cowboys defense last year. He, like many others,
have a hand in how bad it was. But I'm sorry,
a lot of that, to me, goes on Seventy five

percent of that goes to the players. Seventy five percent
that goes to the players, because I watched the guy
who was a part of that defense last year, who
could not communicate, did not communicate, was confused, And I
saw it now under Christian Parker, a dude who came
up in the drill. Two guys went before you, and
you came in and ran it wrong. That's what Matt

Eberfuus had to deal with last year. A bunch of
a bunch of those types.

To me, that's not processing, that's just not taking care
of your own business.

Well, what I mean by processing is one thing is said,
you hear it, and your body doesn't do what it's
supposed to do or doesn't understand.

route where you rent, you ran in four yards, then
you faded back out, You ran ran up, go in
four yards and fade back out. I'm sitting there watching it.

Keep your eyes on this guy is he runs up,
the receiver, runs up, go two to three yards, turns
go back the other way. What they are trying was
trying to show them is once we get inside of ten,
we get into the the red zone, the end zone,
don't put your eyes when that quarterback, especially when we're

playing a man defense, do not put your eyes on
that quarterback. Well, anyway, what I liked it about it
was everybody was a tendant. Everybody, whether they was listening
to these coaches or not, everybody was looking at them

See that would get rectified. See because now you're not
the majority, you're the minority. So that'll get rectified. Either
get with it or you don't play as much. So
but the majority of these guys were paying attention. I'm

Everybody is finally looking at the coach. Now I got
there late. You guys, tell me, was a bunch of
guys walking on the because we used to have fifteen
to twenty guys practice already been gonna start it, So
fifteen twenty guys just come walking out late. No, that's
the difference, fellas, That's that's the difference. When you see

coach say, hey, the horn blow, everybody to take off
and everybody start running. Not one guy take off his
hell man, the other guy take off his shoes. Man,
I got enough. Even the guys that were over the
rehabit was doing it with some enthusiasm. And I know
this is early, and I know you may not see
that same thing three weeks in the training camp, but

right now everybody's tentative, and that is a difference than
last year. That is, to me, is a major difference.

even have better numbers than George Pickett's career wise, right,
he has one more touchdown than him and maybe a
couple more receptions in him. But you you fall victim
to who's next? Next market goes up, right, who's nuts
in the market. So what happens now is what was

high today tomorrow it's higher tomorrow because guess what, Polka's
coming up right, Pooka is gonna get his deal. So
now what happens is when Pooka looks up there and
he goes JSN, Chase, Jefferson, Uh, those guys London, London.

Now he's third, I'm above him. And because that's those
those Chase deal, Chase deal and Jaysn deal, is he
gonna look up, goes, well, I got I got better
numbers than JSN and Chase deal is old. That's that's
two three years old now, so now I gotta get
above that. So what you didn't want to pay this year,

all of a sudden, now these other deals get done,
Push that other forty down, and now you're back next
year having to pay the forty like this is because
my thing is and this is knock on wood. If
George Pickens, the only thing that is stopping George Pickens

from amassing another thousand yard season is him not being
on the field and this offense across from that other receiver,
he gonna get a thousand. He gonna for sure. I'll
bet the house he gonna get a thousand with Dak
Prescott under center. I might, I might bet the garage.

If Dak Prescott is not on the field, I still
think he might get a thousand. So will he get
fourteen again?

Will he get a thousand again? One hundred percent, one

He's playing the tag this year, right, so now either
next year, now you tag him next year, what you

smoke in the city. I can't tell you that. Right now,
it's gonna get ugly. Now you're gonna have the I'm
requesting a trade, right, but what ends up happening? And

this is the part when you look around and I'm saying,
do you want to win full now? Because if you sign,
if you would have signed him to a long term deal.
The way that it looks in the headlines and the
way that it looks and the counting are different. George
Picking signed to a four year buy out out of

Idea and he's making thirty seven million dollars or whatever
it is. But he counts thirteen million against the cap.
This year he counted twenty something million dollars at the
cap next year. The real big money don't come into
year three. So I say that too. Now, thirteen million
this year opposed to twenty six twenty seven three this
year means I could have took fourteen million dollars and

went and got another player or two.

If you designed him, if you even signed him.

That could have been the difference between you getting a player.
Maybe you had the money whip him a little bit,

or whoever. Maybe maybe not, but you the money's there
to go and get. You don't have to go get

on the outside looking in. They're hovering, yeah, but they're

not any strong consideration. They're they're like number ten or
eleven in the top teams that are competing for a
super Bowl. And it's June, right, and that things change, right,
Injuries happen, things happen, whatever. But you want to be
in the conversation you on the outside looking in, and
it's things like that that you look at and now
you see these other deals get signed. That falls right

into the hands of George and David because us they're
like man if Dak Prescott healthy. I know I'm gonna
do ten. I know I'm gonna do a one thousand. No,
I'm gonna do that, and now you have to pay
more next year.

find some stuff out about that left side of your
offensive line, aren't you, since it's an open competition.

I was riding around the city when that broke, and

tipped my hat. I said, did the Rams have done
it again? Barring injury? They put themselves as contenders because
what the Rams realize is if we would have stopped Seattle,

we needed one stop and we couldn't get that one stop,

seconds left, and they lost that game. They started thinking,
right then, can we get better? And are we willing
to get better? And they started seeking that player that

to get what y'all just got. And you were a

NFC South or West. They have the top three teams
in the NFL right now.

top three teams because the Seahawks didn't do they didn't
lose a lot last year, you know, and the forty
nine ers are shown you we can have eighteen players
hurt and were getting in the playoffs. Again, it's very
good teams in our division.

way the playoffs went last year, you know with Lamar
got hurt, Pat got hurt, bow Knicks got hurt. Yeah,
like you looked around, you go, whoever wins the NFL,
whoever wins the conference championship game, they're a super Bowl

that matter who came out of the AFC, did not
matter whoever won the NFC championship game, that who's going
to be your Super Bowl champion because that's what they

straight up in front of everybody, whether you're behind closed door,
he's telling you the same thing. This is how you compete,
this is how you get better, you know, and so
and I.

Don't want to get to camp and when that time
come up, I don't want to hear about nobody saying
oh oh. We looked at we looked at the chart,
and the calibration said that this person needs the day off.

To Nack's point, when you're building a culture, you should
be building a winning culture. And it's hard to build
a winning culture when you're all win is losing and
you're having going to the playoffs in the last two years,
so you don't have a winning culture.
