So what Jerry say? Soap opera three sixty five days
a year. Always sure before we get going. Uh, big
shout out to Hi may himI. I met him.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
He listens to the show every single DAYIM him and
his wife, his beautiful wife.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
I met them in Mexico.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Nice.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
He told me he had heard about the festival I
go to every year. So he started going three years ago.
This was his third year, and every year he looks
for me.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
Not on social media. He can't find me.
Speaker 5 (02:55):
And we were sitting at this beach bar that we
always sit at in between the show, and there was
a guy that had a shirt on and it said
Trump please buy the Dallas Cowboys and make them great again.
Speaker 6 (03:08):
And I was giving him. I was giving him.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
Stuff about wearing cowboy gear and messing with him and
you know. And then I said, hey, I'm a cowboy
fan too, and you know, he was from Iowa. So
we talked for a little bit and then you know,
everybody went on their.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
Way, and like five minutes later, I hear somebody goes, Shannon, look,
and the guy was standing over there with him. He goes,
are you Shannon hanging with the boys?
Speaker 4 (03:29):
I was like, what are you gonna bro?
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Bro.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
He's from Ventura County. He goes to training camp all
the time. So we hung out and had some beers
and talk. So he asked about all you guys and
and uh listens every single day. And his wife was like,
I cannot get him to shut up about your show.
He listens, he loves you'all show.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
The number one show on the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
There you go, Yes, yes, we're still number one.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
I'm gonna say it is until somebody tell me otherwise, Yeah, Chris,
you say you know, we're gonna say yes, so we.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Still kind of number one.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
The ratings came out and you're still number.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Let's go, Derek, quit speaking to me.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
I think the email read it's on something like I
like it.
Speaker 6 (04:17):
So for the whole year, just for like the last week.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
We want to go to all the semantics. It doesn't matter.
I want to know.
Speaker 8 (04:24):
It's I think it's up until this point since they
started calculating it to the.
Speaker 6 (04:28):
Let's go, yeah, took us forever. We got there, let's go.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Congratulations. We should celebrate wing, help us celebrate. Yeah, help
us celebrate.
Speaker 6 (04:40):
There you go, but yeah, shout out to how me
and his wife.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
They were super nice and thank you guys for listening
all the way.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Sure it ain't Marty shouting Marty in fact, I know it, Martin.
I'm pretty sure he ain't even with us right now.
That's what I'm saying. He going, I'm Mary, ain't us
right now? Okay, it's Marty. We we we got at
worship than we were.
Speaker 9 (05:02):
Well.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
I want to know. I want to know who he knows.
All right, let's talk quick. Shout out.
Speaker 8 (05:09):
Yes, I want to shout out to Kalisha. I saw
her in the lunch line. She says, she's still listening
to our show Last every day.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Legal Department, legals Last.
And there's three people in the building you want on
your side.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Legal, Yeah, I t yeah, and Finance shout out, shout out,
my boy, big shout out.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Right shaking what he had, mad game, the Big Rod.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
I got some champions. I got some camp checks and
I ain't quite got yet, Rob. I got some camp
checks out there, out there to eat the somewhere, Big Rob.
You know, I got some camp checks out and done
give it back to the community, Big Robe, My boy,
you know why we get down?
Speaker 5 (05:53):
Call him, hit him up, let's talk about it. You
brought it up, this head coaching thing. What's bring me
up to speed? What's go I've been I've been out
of the loop. Who's going to be our new coach?
What's happening?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Kurt?
Speaker 6 (06:04):
You on the inside, scoop you in the building every day.
Speaker 9 (06:07):
Who knows they've interviewed what four guys?
Speaker 10 (06:10):
Yeah, Salem, Robert Solo, they got Jerk Seattle, Jerk Sea Yeah,
and then Leslie Fraser, Yeah, Fraser and then uh Kellen
Moore and now Marty Schartenheimer's son Nate.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
When I was in Mexico, Marty shot, come on, Kurt,
But I was in Mexico. My phone was blowing up
with all this Dion talk.
Speaker 7 (06:43):
That was the first besides Fraser that was that was
the second most fantasized, Uh coach.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
I have people in Mexico asking me like is that.
I was like, look, I don't think there's anyway. There's
no way Dion wants this. The only way he would
do it is if they paid him enough money. And
I don't think Jerry's gonna cut big enough check to
get him in this building.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Contrary to what he said last year about the check
two years ago, three years ago about the check that
he was right for a Super Bowl that's.
Speaker 5 (07:13):
Making its rounds on social media this week. So what
do any of those candidates?
Speaker 6 (07:19):
None of them are like wow candidates right, Like at
this point, I just want to be entertained.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Like, even if it's.
Speaker 6 (07:24):
Not the right coach, bring somebody in.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
This just gonna mix it completely up. Like somebody even
mentioned Cliff Kingsbury to me. I'm like, bring him in, Like,
I don't think he's the right fit. I don't think
he's the right guy. But let's mix it up.
Speaker 6 (07:36):
Let's get let's get some new juice.
Speaker 10 (07:38):
In here, some new blood like kell Bring him in
for an interviewer you want to, let's hire him if.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
We're gonna throw Kellen Moore and people that have already
been on the staff, like I've seen all that, Like
that doesn't excite me, Like that's.
Speaker 9 (07:48):
A good question.
Speaker 10 (07:50):
Do you want somebody in house who knows some of you?
Want new blood?
Speaker 5 (07:54):
I want at this point, at this point in my
life and the way I'm affiliated with this team and
as a fan, bring me something, Yes, bring me something.
Kellen's not going to excite me, like it okay? And
the smart thing kill him? Maybe the smarter move. Is
(08:15):
he ready to be a head coach? That's the big question, right,
But just for entertainment purposes, bring some wild ass candidate
in here that I'm like a Dan Campbell.
Speaker 6 (08:26):
Like when he got hired, it was like what are
we doing?
Speaker 4 (08:29):
Who is this guy?
Speaker 6 (08:30):
But then he was entertaining, right and then look what
he's turned into.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
Like bring me Jason Witton just for the circus, let's
bring it on, just something to make me have fun
with this, because nothing that's out there right now.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
I think I got a call the other day from
a guy, you know. He called me like eight at night.
Speaker 7 (08:49):
He call you in twenty minutes, right, But then he
wakes me up the next morning at seven o'clock.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Hey man, can I ask you a question? Would you
finish that Jesse? Would you telling him if finished this story? Yestery?
Speaker 4 (09:01):
So I'm the guy.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
I like how you did that.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
I'm the guy who he's talking about. But the question
that I called, and Nate I called to accinate was simply,
when you got to Jimmy or Jimmy got to you?
Because I keep hearing all this conversation about you know,
the guys like them, the players like him, this pleasure.
I said, did you did you like Jimmy Johnson?
Speaker 11 (09:26):
Like?
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Did you like him? And they said, well, he said,
it wasn't that we didn't like him. We respected him,
he said, but we we had a healthy sense of
fear of him. And when we began, he said, Jimmy
became enjoyable once you did the work that was required
(09:46):
to win. He said, if you weren't doing the work
that required to his standard to win, then you wasn't
going to like him because he was going to make
it very uncomfortable for you. He was going to make
it very tough for you. He was going to make
it to a place to where you no longer wanted.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
To be there.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
But when you did the work and it was to
the standard and the winning came behind it, yeah, you
enjoyed being around him. We had fun and he was
you know, lighthearted and all those other things. But when
you crossed that line of the work not getting done
to the standard of which he held, then it was
(10:25):
it was rule. It was rude by an iron fist.
And that's what I called. I just you know, and
then Nate fashioned. I just called for one question forty
five minutes later. I called for one question forty five
minutes later. But the information that we talked about and
that he gave me about this conversation is why I
(10:46):
shake my head about the higher because it doesn't match up.
It doesn't seem like this is going to be one
of those things. And I think the last couple of times,
because when you begin to look for comfortability, familiarity, and
and you know, I don't really want to upset the
apple card to your point. I'm not always there with
(11:08):
the circus, but to have someone come in that will
be able to have a healthy dose of fear injected
into these men.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
The unfamiliar, the unfamiliar opposite of what they're seem to
be doing.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
The unfamiliar, but not just not just on the surface,
but thrown through being able to say, no, star player,
you can't be late for a meeting and still play.
Speaker 10 (11:36):
Get a coach like that, strike fear into the players,
so to speak, and also work with Jerry Jones.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
It's the working part is and here's the thing between
an owner and a general manager. The working part should
be give me what I need and I'll give you
the results. Right, give me what I need, get out
of my way. You hired me to do a job.
(12:07):
I'm gonna give you a list of guys that I
need for offense, for defense, for special teams, whatever it
may have. You as a general manager, your job is
now to make this all work, make the financials work,
make the roster work. If we need to make a trade,
if we need to find some free agents. That's the work.
This is like this whole coaching thing in GM thing.
(12:31):
It's not a collaboration like Hey, I need you in
here with me to tell me what to do on No,
it's basically you hired me, give me what I need
and let me cook and with that we get we
get dubs. But as the head coach, I rule this,
I rule this. I have the final say so and
(12:53):
what goes on in here. Now, I'll come to you
and consult you on some things. But this isn't This
isn't a thing where you are going to constantly be
telling me what pieces the move where, who should be playing? No, no, no,
no no. That's how it's done. That's how the good
teams do it. That's how the good teams do it.
(13:15):
And now you see that yield success, you see the
fruits of that labor. But it's when you have the
the when you have the the when a portion of
the locker room understands that you don't really control what
we do that week, that hurts. And this is the
(13:37):
part that Nate was talking about. Was wasn't nobody jumping
over Jimmy head? No, wasn't nobody going when Jimmy said
you going? Wasn't nobody jumping over that and going to
see somebody else? Oh, Jimmy said you ain't playing or
I'm finding you, I'm doing this, or I'm doing that
with you. You couldn't jump over his head and get
the OK from somewhere else. And now he holds your
hand and walk you back into my office, and now
(13:58):
we have to come to an agreement or what we're gonna.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Do with you.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
It was once you said go, I went and and
and the results of that is what we're gonna live with.
And for the coaching part of it is if I
have success, then you look good. If I don't have success,
that's when you fired me, like any other job. And
(14:23):
that's the biggest thing that we sometimes, you know, we
we we find ourselves talking about and maybe running into
and facing is the healthy fear that was had in
the nineties. That healthy fear is no longer present because
(14:45):
the people who need to have the healthy fear and
make and make no mistake about it, things are watched
very closely in locker rooms. And so if if you're
the star player, or you're the player who is presented
to us as that guy, whether that be through productivity
(15:05):
or salary, and I can watch you do certain things
or lack thereof, Now I might not be able to
go full what you go. But I have a laying
where I go, and I'm and I'm doing my my
my nonsense, all my all my eyes are not dotted,
all my teas are not crossed, because I've seen you
(15:28):
as a superstar, not dot all your eyes and cross
all your tea's. So what ends up happening is, yeah,
you might be able to get away with it because
of who you are, and they may yell at me
a little bit. But now what happens is we have
all of these gaps. There's a gap in Uh, there's
(15:48):
a gap in in and in structure. There's a gap
in attention to details. Uh, there's a gap in seriousness.
There's a gap in the studies. There's a gap in
the practice habits. There's a gap in how we practice.
There's a gap in how we review film and how
we study. There's a gap in learning the information. There's
a gap and how we prepare on practices and game days.
(16:11):
So and what happens is the to to some of
it all up is the devil is in the details.
Too many areas have gaps. That's where the lock thereof
comes in. And when you go out there on Sundays,
those small little gaps that were created through how things
(16:32):
were because they weren't corrected. They weren't nipped in the bud,
they weren't the doors weren't slammed. The stars of the
team didn't have all they idd doted and teased crossing,
so all other people were doing the same thing. Now
what you have in those gaps. Losses fall in those gaps,
the communication falls in those gaps, the details falls in
those gaps, and now there's penalties, and now there's all
(16:54):
the little things that we see happen on Sunday. It
starts there, and that that's why I look at this
higher and I go, I don't need somebody, so gona
come in and be able to still be buddy buddy
with the dudes, because now guys in that locker room
already know they got social media. They're looking like nobody
even else wants you.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
And then the gaps, like.
Speaker 7 (17:20):
Just out of the gaps that you're talking about, trying
to find a proper word when and then when you
don't have the players, the gaps turning the canyons.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
Because you're trying to you have no authority. So I'm
trying to come talk to you.
Speaker 7 (17:39):
Just a star, you know, his right hand man kicking
it with him and hey, go you over here, my guy,
which ain't much. I mean, I ain't trying to down
up it, which ain't much. What you're gonna do, You're
gonna start acting up. I can't even control you now.
So what do you think the fifty third guy is
thinking when they say, hey man, you late?
Speaker 1 (18:02):
You just kind of look at you. Oh well find me.
It got to be more than that.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
It's got you gotta have a sense of you just
let I just let down, Jesse, I just let down, Kurt,
I just let down, Shannon.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
You got to have that feeling.
Speaker 7 (18:14):
Because if you don't have that feeling, because everybody's getting
paid now, even the practice squad guy is getting paid.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
So where does that How do you close that gap?
Speaker 7 (18:27):
You have to hire the right coach and you have to,
like Jesse has said over and over, coach, it's all yours.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
So when that coach.
Speaker 7 (18:37):
Closed the door to have its first meeting, to own
a name should never come up. The GM name should
never come up. It should be that I wanted like this,
This is how my staff, me and my staff gonna
run it. Anything outside of this room don't count.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
And that's how it's gotta be.
Speaker 5 (18:59):
Say our first break when we come back. You guys
mentioned the players.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
What are the guys over on that side of the
building do they? Are they keeping an eye on this?
Speaker 4 (19:08):
Do they care?
Speaker 8 (19:09):
Do they?
Speaker 6 (19:10):
How do you process a new coaching search when you're
on a team.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
How do players look at it? Let's talk about that,
and man, Washington and Philadelphia?
Speaker 6 (19:21):
Who saw that coming?
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Are you not entertained? No one?
Speaker 4 (19:25):
No one.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
Let's talk about that. How do we feel as Cowboy fans?
And how do they feel upstairs about that? That's got
to just be like ah, because you don't feel that
far off from those two teams, do you? Until you well,
one of them has a very very good.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Quarterbacks take over the end of that game.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
That's you boy?
Speaker 8 (19:48):
You like that?
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Boy?

Such thing as a bad pump, especially.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Such as a bad pump. Whoa wet to get your
fine though? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (22:49):
How uh? How are the guys in the locker room?
Are they watching this coaching search or is it kind
of like the draft? You can't kind of keep a
side eye on.
Speaker 5 (22:57):
It, but whatever happens happens, and you're here anyway, or
of there guys that.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
Are, it's probably three or four guys, it's kind of
like okay, and then it's like, uh, forty eight guys.
Speaker 10 (23:08):
Man?
Speaker 5 (23:13):
Is there a group text going when a new when
a new candidates breaking news? Cowboys interview so and so
their position groups like, bro, I hope we don't get
this dude, or hey.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Like they just because a player like you know, all
right we interview with Roberts Halla. Now I'm trying to
figure out, all right, cool, who do I know that
that either knows him or played for him? Right, because
I'm saying, if he's gonna be my head coach, and
I need to oh, I know so and so he
played for him? What kind of cook?
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Bro?
Speaker 4 (23:41):
Like yeah, like bro, like like what is he like?
You know what I'm saying, like, like what is practice like? Then?
And if I know, if I know, I'm also trying
to look at okay, like who would potentially be somebody
he bring on his staff. I always I've always told
guys this when I came into the league and I
left the league, I tell this constantly. When I was
(24:02):
training receivers and tight ends for like six or seven
years that getting them ready for the draft, I would
tell guys, Tell guys, Tell guys, be very kind to
your position coaches, be very kind to those assistants, be
very kind to your coordinators, because one day you can
look up, did you just eat off the floor? Three
(24:23):
second rule? One day, one day you'll look wondering what
was going on in.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
You disappeared? Don't do that no more. It in my
house and not Louisiana.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
So yeah, but I tell them that at some point
in time, those assistants, those coordinators, those position coaches, they
could become a coordinator and or head coach. And the
(25:01):
last thing that you want to do is have crossed them.
Three years ago. Dog cuss him out, didn't work hard
for him, gave him a hard time, wasn't kind to them,
and now you're looking for a job. So there's some
dudes who are now saying, man, Brian shotting Himan, Like, man,
that last week of practice, Man, I ain't really I
(25:23):
remember when I was sometimes you know, he man, he
was holding those cards when I was on the scout
team and I wouldn't do what he was supposed to
be asking me to do. They thin a he't gonna
bring me back, you know. So that's the conversation of
some guys are saying, like, man, what the this? God, Man,
that offense ain't gonna be some guy by big excited.
Some guy be like Ben bro We ain't got to
(25:44):
learn a new offense. We can get the same thing.
So there's a host of things. But they're talking. Guys
are talking, Guys are trying to smart out. I'm trying
to find out, all right, what's the next move gonna be.
And if you're one of those guys like the like,
let's just say, like the Dak Prescotts of the world,
the CD Lambs of the world, I'm trying to get
good in now. I'm trying to hey, hey, hey, my boy,
(26:05):
I'm trying.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
To get in Hey.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
Remember remember remember we talked about before last year was
on the sideline, and we need to implement that, man, like,
we need to really get this going because I want
I want him to think about how can I get
implemented in whatever system he decides to put in. Where
do I fall on that? And I don't want to
be left behind.
Speaker 10 (26:22):
I'm not sure guys like Dak, CD, Micah, whoever being
are they being asked their opinions? It's part of this process,
are I hope not?
Speaker 1 (26:34):
I honestly do some guys you can go to and
that question, but not here. Don't don't do.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
That like you do? You know you do that when
you're Tom Brady and you file super Bowls in? You four?
You three super bowls in? Like, oh, because all right, cool?
What do you like? Because because whatever you because whatever
you like will lead to us being successful. The proof
(27:01):
is in the put you get the skins on the wall.
You got the skins on the wall. But I'm like,
and this is again, this is no knock. I'm not
talking bad about CD or Micah or Dak or any
of those guys, but you haven't done enough for me
to value your opinion on what is winning what winning
looks like? You know what I'm saying. And if you
(27:22):
had a couple of balls underneath your belt, you know,
Patrick Mahomes, we can have the conversation with Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 10 (27:29):
So when you've got so much money wrapped up in
it doesn't matter. Prescott and the Lamb don't you want?
Do they want their opinion on.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
I got so much money wrapped up in you?
Speaker 1 (27:38):
Damn it.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
You do what I asked you to do when I
ask you to do it, and it ain't no paying
you sixty million, I'm paying you sixty million dollars a year.
You're telling me you uncomfortable with learning a new verbiage
paying you sixty million. If I wanted you to learn
damn Taiwanese, you better get rose out of stone and
(27:59):
learn taiwan like that. I'm paying you thirty five million
dollars a year. If I want you to learn Kastakastan,
you better get whoever you go, get a tutor, Go
spend the off season in Kastakiskan and learn the.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
Language in the country I don't know is a language.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
I don't know, Pakistanian whatever it is?
Speaker 4 (28:20):
Hey, but learning I'm about to pay back a part
of one of the richest contracts of defensive side of
the ball history. Go create it like you betta learn
it too.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Well. Most coaches gonna have knowledge of who you are.
Speaker 7 (28:36):
Not a great a lot of not, but they're gonna
have some knowledge of who you are, and they gonna
be able to make adjustments on their offenses and defense
for these superstar type players. But that just goes back
to what Coach John's used to tell me. First of all,
your leaders is unquestionable to have a thirst that you
wouldn't believe to get better. So it should never you
(29:00):
should never worry about whether we dack friendly Parsons friendly
a city, because these guys should have a level of
go get it that cannot be matched. And that's what
the good coaches look for. And that's what coaches started
to understand. Number One, I'm gonna run. I'm not gonna
(29:20):
run this show. And if not, the number two thing
is do you have a quarterback? Because if you don't
have a quarterback, I'm in trouble because I can't cover
none of my sores.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
So that's the two things.
Speaker 7 (29:34):
Either I'm I'm gonna go find my quarterback and build
my team, or I got a quarterback, and if you
got a quarterback, we know what that can do for you.
Speaker 6 (29:42):
Yeah, all right, let's take our second break. When we
come back, we will finish out the show. We'll talk
about Philly and Washington.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
You're gonna go wrinside your mouth for me to cook
you off the ground late.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Now you already swallowed it.
Speaker 7 (29:55):
If I probably got all the type of dog, come on,
but Shanna, look.
Speaker 6 (29:58):
I didn't even think about it dog being in here
until you brought that up.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Wow, you should throw up on the ground.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
To where at? Chris, come show me we're at You're
to break. We'll be right back house.

proud dating partner of the Dallas Cowboys. All right, let's
finish it out with the little What do y'all think
about Philly and Washington being in the NFC Championship Game?
Speaker 4 (32:46):
What do I feel? Yeah? How you feel about that?
Good for them?
Speaker 10 (32:50):
M you think you Boys fans are a little upset?
Speaker 4 (32:53):
I think you think what the upset about? That?
Speaker 10 (32:56):
The Cowboys are home and Washington phill are in and
there's your ex offensive coordinator on one side and your
ex defensive coordinator on the other, and whole string of
players in the game. I mean, it's kind of it's
just tough to take.
Speaker 9 (33:11):
It's just throwing more dirt on the man.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
I just got side of him. My wife say, didn't
he used.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
To play for us? Baby, Baby, I didn't know he
went down?
Speaker 7 (33:21):
Did we turned on the rams gave hey double gallible? Yeah, galloway.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Out the randy.
Speaker 10 (33:32):
They don't like it means much though, mean must too
so the fence, yeah, or even here in the building, oh,
in the building.
Speaker 5 (33:39):
That in the building, what do you what do you
think is more of a more of a kind of
a you know, hit the table, that it's two division
rivals that are in it, that you're a year ago,
you were head and shoulders above both of them, probably
a year ago.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
At least one. Yeah, for sure had it. So it
was about one.
Speaker 5 (34:01):
Or the fact that your defensive coordinator that you let
go be a head coach somewhere else.
Speaker 6 (34:08):
Is in his first year in the NFC Championship game.
I think that's probably the one that, like Kellen, he
doesn't have a whole lot of control over.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
He can control what he can control on the offense,
and you can say that their offenses with the tools
they got.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
They should be they should be fifty points a game.
Speaker 5 (34:24):
Right with Saquan and that receiver duo, you should be
running circles. But that I bet that defensive that defensive
coordinator you had here being a head coach and making
anything you.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
Want to know, what's going to be the depressing But
what should be the depressing part is that you were
having showers better than Washington and in one year they're
in the NFC Championship Game. On top of that, their
quarterback still has three to four more years on his
rookie deal. Next year they can build the team around.
(34:58):
Next year, Washington has the second currently sitting right now,
Washington has the second highest, second or third highest amount
of money that they can spend heading into the offseason.
Speaker 5 (35:11):
Because you could, couldn't you argue that this like talent wise,
barring injuries, talent wise, the Cowboys have now now that
they have a quarterback that they do you can debate
that whatever you want, But like surrounding that position on
offensive defense, the Cowboys might have more talent than Washington.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
You don't think so, I did.
Speaker 9 (35:32):
If they're healthy I think healthy.
Speaker 4 (35:35):
Outside the courner.
Speaker 7 (35:36):
No, no, no, no, no, no, you don't think Washington more talent.
No no, y'all ain't been watching no games. Brother, And
they took they took one eye guys who we liked,
who we liked. I thin to go contra. You liked
it in Armstrong number ninety two. He's elevated his game.
(35:57):
Uh no, brother, they running back. They running back is
a bad man. And he finally figured out, you know what,
I'm gonna quit stead of stepping, and.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
I'm finna get downhill.
Speaker 7 (36:07):
Yeah, bro, they we can match them at wide receiver. Uh,
offensive line, It ain't no doubt now, No, they two
guys on the inside.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
You take old saying that and our guy versus they
two guys on the inside. That ain't happening. What we
have over there is Parsons.
Speaker 7 (36:28):
What we have is two cornerbacks when healthy after that name,
you name it.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
No, we're not more talented in them. Okay, because you're
thinking about it. I'll take Bobby Wagon over our linebacker.
I'll take Frankie lous over.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
I don't even mention him. Where did he come from?
Speaker 6 (36:45):
First time I heard about it? When Jesse mentioned him?
Then when he's playing.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
Big black Man or Louis, it might be smowing.
Speaker 6 (36:54):
Yeah, they'd be tonguing.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
You know, he figured it out.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Little it's dark, dark dyce hair.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
Big we got not more talented.
Speaker 9 (37:06):
Interesting?
Speaker 4 (37:08):
All right, how do you feel about it, Kurt?
Speaker 10 (37:11):
Yeah, I mean it's frustrating. I think it's just another
bad look and a whole season of bad looks. And
I you know, I remember we had this question on
during the summer. The website does a series of twenty questions,
and one of the questions was had the rest of
the division caught up with the Cowboys? And my thinking
(37:33):
was was it so much they caught up or the
Cowboys fell back? And yes, Philly has got Philly out
of Barkley Washington, added Daniels, that sort of thing. But
at the same time, you know, if you're not getting better,
getting worse and the Cowboys took a big drop back.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
No, the answer to you to that is yes, right,
like they got better, Cowboys got worse. The answers is yes.
Speaker 7 (37:56):
We had this discussion when he called me about one
sub and I jumped over to the Washington team. They
have always been one quarterback away for the last six years.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
They have always been a quarterback away.
Speaker 7 (38:10):
Remember I wanted the brother fire last year because he
was killing the quarterback, would not run. I was in
love you to death, but I wanted you gone because
you had a good running back in this kid, and
they had another kid that they let go. This is
the same team, Fellas, that's been sitting there for four
or five years.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Two things have changed.
Speaker 7 (38:30):
The head coach got rid of the owner, brought in
another guy, and in the quarterback, it's.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
The same team. Go back and look up on paper.
It's the same team.
Speaker 7 (38:40):
Come on, man, and you know what they ain't talking about.
Hey man, we got knocked out in the division around
They in the NFC championship game. Two teams from our division.
It's in the NFC.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
I'm not NFC, but the NFC Championship game. Come on, man, I.
Speaker 6 (38:56):
Wonder how many times in the history of the league
that two teams teams from the same.
Speaker 4 (39:01):
Division, same division and conference.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
I mean, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 9 (39:07):
What do you say at this point?
Speaker 10 (39:08):
Do you think the Cowboys are significantly behind those other
two or is it just you know, by next season
you turn things around, you're not playing the first place schedule,
and all of a sudden You're.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
Back to my point earlier about Washington all they're gonna
they're gonna have, They're gonna draft good, and they're gonna
sign more guys they can. They have the money to
go out there and keep adding on to that team
with premium prospects, premium free agents. They don't have to
go by, you know, bottom of the barrel bargain shopping.
They have enough money that they can go out and
(39:40):
go and sign. You know, I'll just give you a
wild example. I'm not saying this is gonna happen, but
Khalil mack right is an unrestricted free agent. Reports came
back that he has decided that he's gonna play another year.
They have enough money where they could say, you know what, Khalil, come, come,
(40:01):
come be for us what Vonnald Miller was for the
Broncos when they won their championship. Come come be the
finished shirt. Just be third, be a third downs past
Russ specialist. We'll give you one year twenty million.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
Dollars like Graham did for Philadelphia.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
You know what I'm saying, Like, they have money where
they can just throw it and not have to suffer
the consequences of it. Not you know, won't hurt their
cap again, and they can do that for the next
couple of years because their quarterback is on a rookie deal.
These doesn't really work that way though. What doesn't work
that way?
Speaker 8 (40:31):
Well, you say that there their second in cap, they're
actually third, Okay, third, I said second or third? Say
the third? Okay, that's fine, But they only have thirty
four guys in their contract, right, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (40:42):
They say that they have to pay, right, but they don't.
They're they're they're not strapped where they now can't pay
those guys that they want to and go and get
premier and you still have to fill those gas.
Speaker 8 (40:53):
Yeah, that's fine, but that money's gonna get chewed up
pretty right way.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
But I'm not in a depth aware of that. I'm
not in a death It's one thing to be in
the deficit. It's one thing to be at the low
end of it.
Speaker 9 (41:03):
You don't have to bargain shop.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
I don't have to bargain shop. I can do whatever,
I can do whatever I want.
Speaker 7 (41:09):
And the option that you have, and this is what
I always hated about the forty nine ers and when
and when the Seahawks were rolling And the option that
you have now is not only do you have a
little cap space and you still got to sign those
extra guys, but now you can say, hey, man, we're winning, right,
So for guys on the tract years, see, like, man,
(41:31):
I take a little bit less money, but these dudes,
it got a shot at there going deep in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
And that helps.
Speaker 7 (41:36):
I mean, that does make a difference when you get
you know, you're rolling up on you last few years
and mass man, we're gonna you know, are you want
to prove yourself. You know nobody's signed you during the
off season, but you're a quality player.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
Come on in here, man on a one year deal.
That that winning helps.
Speaker 4 (41:53):
See, these are the type these are the type of
teams when you go and you add like I said,
you add those little those veteran pieces, those veteran guys.
You know what I'm saying. Like in there your depth,
that's your depth comes into play because you're right now,
your team currently constructed is a good enough team obviously
to play in the NFC Championship game. So now you
just start. Now I can pick and choose where I
(42:15):
want to. Oh, I want to I want to get
I want to get real specific there, right, if I
want to do a third down pass Russian specialist, if
I or if I want to go put a little
bit of money in. You know, there's a there's a
there's an offensive lineman that I really like that I'm saying,
you know what, this might this might be the finishing
touch here. I'm not so I'm not going into this
thing so desperate for my draft isn't desperate. My off
(42:38):
season spending and choosing isn't desperate. I don't have a
pluthoro of needs that I'm going into. So I just
say all that to look at it and go, you know,
when they come back next year, when Philly comes back
next year, like they're they're coming back already locked and
loaded and just moving on. Uh from there. We already
seen it, and I know that Philly will have catch
(42:59):
issue down the road, whatever that comes to about. But
but the way how he's done it in Philly has
been like, won't worry about that when that day comes.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
But right now everybody ms was going to happen all
the cap.
Speaker 4 (43:10):
They'd be down for have it down year, one year,
come back up, read it back up, be bad for
a year. You know, and then Boom were back at
it again.
Speaker 6 (43:18):
But how big of a deal before we get out
of here, is it that, uh, Fossil went to the
Titans for the same, the same.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
What happened with that? Did you get it? Inside scoop
all night? While Fossil jumped.
Speaker 10 (43:33):
There were reports that he they wanted him to come back,
but whatever reason, they.
Speaker 4 (43:37):
Just I think that's a telling sign too that a
guy you have arguably the best kicker in the league,
give or take right, you can that's an argument debatable.
You have the best pump kick return in the league.
I don't know how much you want a debate on that,
whether come on the conversation, right, he's in the conversation,
and you know what I'm saying, Like he ain't. He
(43:58):
ain't out of the top two or three. It neither
is Brandon Aubrey. And for a special teams guy that
is that's like having an elite quarterback. You know what
I'm saying, I got a kicker and a specialist and
he goes, I'm gonna go to a team who had
the worst record than the team I just left. Like
(44:18):
that just tells you a little bit about how maybe
some of these guys are feeling when it comes to
all that is amy umbrella.
Speaker 5 (44:27):
Personal brand standpoint, Like the brand doesn't get any bigger
than you know, you're on TV more, there's more recognition
if you're wanting to elevate your career.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
This is not a good look right now, just not
a good look all across the board.
Speaker 9 (44:40):
For he had to deal, he had to take it.
Speaker 10 (44:41):
He couldn't wait, what if, what if the Cowboys offer
this or how much or whatever?
Speaker 9 (44:47):
So I can't blame him.
Speaker 7 (44:49):
Yeah, moving moving, moving quick around and I had a
few people fast be like, man, how's going. I'm like,
I can't a man in that feeling. Bro, Well, if
I'm walking past people.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
Hey, how you doing, I'm hype.
Speaker 7 (45:05):
I'm forgetting what they're going through as coaches and staff and.
Speaker 4 (45:08):
They don't they don't know, they don't know.
Speaker 7 (45:10):
And they're like, well, you know, pray for him, And like, bro,
I'll you want to grab him right there and go
to the knees, causey gonna take everything we got, you.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Know what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (45:20):
Wow, I just felt when when the guy walked away,
I just felt so bad.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
I may I may Kurt sit out with the Kirk,
but I.
Speaker 9 (45:32):
Mean is that a big loss though?
Speaker 10 (45:33):
With your special teams coordinator, I mean that maybe don't
have quite as big an impact as your offensive decent
defensive coordinator.
Speaker 9 (45:40):
But still he was seemed to.
Speaker 7 (45:42):
Be he ran the practices in in in training camp.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
Yeah, that ain't nothing. You get another guy against the run.
Speaker 4 (45:49):
I mean, hey, for whatever special teams brought good battling different,
it was on the it was on the back of bones.
Speaker 7 (45:56):
I know my Joe Avazon was my man d Camilla's
you you learned.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
A good one's name. Yeah, you know. And they have
power around the league. Yes, they do. Well.
Speaker 5 (46:06):
We might have some completely different conversations next week or
guess what might be.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
Asking the same old questions.
Speaker 5 (46:14):
It depends on what happens in the next week is
going to be interesting, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
Assume so you're saying next week we have a coaching Yeah.
Speaker 6 (46:21):
You think we have a coach with about telling the
show next week?
Speaker 4 (46:23):
For sure? Hand you think you think by Monday.
Speaker 10 (46:27):
Before we hit the weekend, you don't think they'll wait
to interview Kingsbury or any of these other guys Joe
Brady or somebody.
Speaker 4 (46:36):
You think you think the name names that have been
brought up. It's gonna be one.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
Of mister Moore.
