Speaker 1 (01:26):
It's the time of the year to do that.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
Man it is. Get it out, get it out, don't

Speaker 7 (01:32):
Get your traveling in. We are without Nate.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
He called me Monday and I forgot to call him back,
so I just randomly called him this morning.

Speaker 8 (01:41):
You say where he was Georgia, Georgia.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Yeah, yeah, it just came up out here to see
a buddy of mine, you know, went down to Florida
for a little bit for lunch. Yeah, Florida for breakfast,
Georgia for lunch. So he's he is on the road.
So we will be without Nate. But we have the
core here, Kurt, Jesse, myself and Chris in the back.

Speaker 9 (02:03):
How are you, Chris, I'm doing good things. Good good,
I'm buying myself back here.

Speaker 7 (02:09):
I know it's weird back there.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
It's weird, bro, How you do it? You're handling it
back there. I'm good. I'm really good. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:14):
Where is everybody?

Speaker 4 (02:16):
I don't know, not my day, not your day to
keep up with them.

Speaker 7 (02:20):
So what's going what's going on in the building today?

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Are we able? Are we allowed to talk about that?
There was vout complimentary valet out front.

Speaker 8 (02:28):
And then like a family days, family day, you know.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
What they're doing the goodie bags when you walk in
the door, might snag me one on the way. Yeah, yeah,
way to not be invited back to the podcast.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Right when you get to the top of the elevator.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
But you'll know the person who's passing them out. Well,
I think Whitney is oh okay, definitely definitely not.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Getting I'm stoop in the bag, though, I might not
get what I'm going.

Speaker 7 (02:54):
To see what's in there?

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
So what do they do? They bring the families in
and after practice and have some food and fun. What
are they doing? I think they get to watch practice
and then they're having.

Speaker 8 (03:04):
Meat church for lunch and nice lunch for sure.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Saw the big smoker out there, big smoker man.

Speaker 9 (03:10):
The thing is when a smoker has three wheels underneath it,
it's pretty big.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Yeah, three axles, three axles. Yes, so Shody continues to
do shoddy things.

Speaker 7 (03:23):
Yep, family Day, but all cultures do.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Family Day can continue. I'm not being a hater.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
I don't being a hater, but yes, they all all culture.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
I think all cultures do family.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
You know, McCarthy did it, but I think it was
like doing this.

Speaker 7 (03:36):
Did j G do it?

Speaker 8 (03:38):
He did? Sure?

Speaker 5 (03:39):
Okay, Yeah, a lot of this is a like they
do it again in training camp too.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
You know you'll see the kids running on the field
and they have this little deal.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah yeah, all right, So I don't want to be
all right. So since the hater blanket on the situation,
the hater, the.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
Wet blanket, whatever you want to call him, of the show,
what you got going on? I don't know. I got
hair all over me. I don't know what's going on. Muscles,
this main that I've grown out so shot. He said
something I guess it was this week. I want to
get your take on it, Jesse, okay, because you will.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
You will bring us back down to earth.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Continues to say the right things, do the right things
as far as.

Speaker 7 (04:16):
The in the public eye.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
And I wanted to know he said this, and I me,
as a non athlete, I think it would matter. I
think it's setting the tone and a lot of coaches
do this. But you know, they asked him why he
practices and has the enthusiasm and runs around and you know,

(04:38):
the coaches talk trash to each other. And he said,
if his you know, his dad would be like, what
are you doing. That's not how you coach, you know,
And but he brings this enthusiasm, and he credited Pete
Carroll with being seventy something years old.

Speaker 8 (04:51):
And gets on his coaches if they don't have the
same energy.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Right, So he wants it to be upbeat and you know, positive.
And I'm sure as a player sometimes you're like, come on, man,
like I just want to practice. I don't need you
yelling at me and screaming and running through you.

Speaker 7 (05:04):
Know, the halls.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
And but you know, he credited Pete Carroll with a
lot of it and said, here he is seventy years old.
And later on in the season, you got some grizzled
veterans that are kind of you know, it's into the
season and you look out there and you see a
seventy year old man chomping on his gum and running
around fire throwing the football, got his gloves on and
all that. And I said, you know what, I think

(05:26):
that makes sense as you you know, for your your
older guys, especially young guys, it's probably like whatever, you know,
but the older guys, that's like, you know what a
coach is bringing this. I got to step it up.
I gotta be accountable. I got to show some enthusia.

Speaker 8 (05:39):
The other way around. The older guys and be like, Eh.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
I don't know, that's I guess that's my question. What
was your take on that you're gonna be the wet
blanket and be like.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
Oh, energy is contagious. Yeah, energy is contagious if it's
the right energy, right, like.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
It's it's can it be corny energy?

Speaker 1 (05:55):
It can't be corny energy?

Speaker 7 (05:57):
And mojo moment.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
And and.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
In the game I shouldn't say sports, but like in
the game of football, basketball, whatever it is. All this
stuff is contingent upon one thing. Games Because if you're
if we're three four games, we're lost.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Good man, listen, don't come here with that bull.

Speaker 7 (06:20):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
It'll come in here scream.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
But if we're winning, great, and I know people say,
well it should be more. No everything, every gimmick, every
culture push, every slogan, all of that.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
If you're if that.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
Ploy is it attached to significant winning, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 8 (06:49):
Does it? Does that energy carry over into games? Like
what they're doing out here, will it be?

Speaker 5 (06:55):
It can carry over to good practices. Good practices carry
over to good habits. Good habits carry over to good games.
And it's like it's it's kind of in the uh
Dion once said, right if you if you, if you
look good, you play good.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
If you play good, they pay good.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
Right Like, So it's like if if if you create
these good habits and things are going well and it
leads to victories on Sunday, then we welcome it back.
And it's always a part of the thing that we do.
It's when you have those dog days and if you
you can't get those victories and your three four, five
games into this thing and you got a couple for
you know, for loss on your on your on your

(07:32):
ledger and five games. Nobody wants to hear that. Like
everybody wants to be like kind of locked in and
doing what they do.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
But I get it. I get why he does it.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
I get why he wants to have that and kind
of going away from what his dad would have done
or how that style of coaching would have worked. It's
a new age, it's a new style, and that's the
approach that he wants to Again, you gotta be consistent
when you're a new head coach.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
You can't come in here and have all of.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
This positive energy and OTAs and then when the season
really gets on you, right, because we've all been around
football long enough, from different aspects of it, you get
to a point to see them. Whether you're working in media,
whether you're working in the writing department, Chris is back
there in the audio and visual. That season get on
you and all of a sudden, now what was once joyous?

(08:18):
You know, Chris is on the third game in eleven
days and he don't want to carry that camera no more.
It ain't as fun to carry that camera anymore, you
know what I mean. But if it's a tenth game,
if it's a ten game winning streak, WHOA, my shoulder
don't feel as bad no more.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
Now, I'm ready to get to that cold city that
we may have to go into because I'm riding this
wave of positivity. But you can't come in and start
that early in the season or in the process and
then it die off because now it's like, whoah, you
were this way when we started this thing. I'm expecting
that all the way through. So it's whatever Shoty does now.

(08:55):
He has to be consistent in this new relationship that
he's trying to build with these players. It has to
be a consistent thing that he's doing. It cannot die
down when those dog days of summer get on you.
It cannot die down if things go left in the season.
He has to Yeah, he has to be as consistent
as they come, because all eyes are going to be

(09:16):
on you from a locker room perspective, right because they
see and hear him more than we do. We just
get a chance to see him at the podium or
in passing whatever, you know, however that is. They get
to see who he is every single day. If this
is who he is every single day and he's consistent
with it, then it'll work.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
But if if this thing.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Fluctuates and you never know what shot are you gonna
get from day and from day out, that will grow
very old on players, especially to to to curse point
the veteran guys. The veteran guys will be like, man,
if you don't go that way, I'm not today.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
But if that's who he is, then it's easy to
buy in. It's like it says him, this is who
he is Monday, this was him on day one, and
it's like it's not hokey, and it's not like, hey,
y'all knows he ain't doing I accept it for who
he is.

Speaker 5 (10:02):
If this is who he is and this is as
I said, consistency, If this is what he's going to
be every single time that we get into like you know,
these atmospheres.

Speaker 8 (10:11):
So so you like where this do you feel like
they're on They're on a positive tract? This is going
to continue the season. I mean it's hard to tell
now so early, but I mean there's so much you know,
cookies and rainbows right now. Do you feel like if.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
Football is a war of attrition, Man, this is a long, long,
long season.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
And it's it's easy right now.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
Right the weather is beautiful, it's not hot, there's no injuries,
there's no major things that you have to deal with.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Everything right now is all positive.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
There's there's there has not been one negative thing outside
of maybe you might cold get in this contract done,
but everything else has been an extreme positive.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Right so it's like everything is great, which is.

Speaker 10 (10:55):
So weird around here because usually something you know and
so so this is this is yes, for for where
we are right now, this is great.

Speaker 5 (11:03):
This is this is where you're supposed to be. You
shouldn't be dooming gloom in May and June. It's again,
it's it's when it starts getting closer and closer and
closer to the date of season opening. Now we got
to start honing in. It's gonna be a little different
when you get you know, move's gonna change. When you
gotta cut players right, move's gonna change. Inevitably, someone will
get hurt. You don't wish it on anybody, You don't

(11:24):
want it. Someone will get hurt. Now what how how
does that work? You know what happens when you do
run a foul against that player? What happens now when
you do run, You're gonna have conflict. You just you
don't do this business and not have conflict. So how
do you handle it?

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Again?

Speaker 5 (11:42):
It's what is what is the consistent approach that coach
Schottenheimer is taking. If that's what he is right now, great,
then be that way. Have the energy on the on
the sideline. Coaches, y'all gotta be that same way every
single day.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
You can't. You just can't switch up.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
If that's where y'all going to be as a coaching staff,
then then key that same energy whether it's May or June, November, December.
This is what we should this is what we should
we should expect from this coaching staff because this is
what the leader says that we're gonna do. And energy
is very well one way or the other. Energy is

(12:18):
very contagious. You've been around enough people long enough to
know like when somebody has that zapping and.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Then oh my god, you.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Get out and get out of here.

Speaker 5 (12:30):
But when they have that joy that like you've even
said to me one time, this is like earlier in
the year, the last year, you came and you said,
you're not yourself whatever that is that's taking that energy,
you need to let it go.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
And I was like, someone has stolen your someone has
stolen your joy.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
And I was like, you know what, You're right. He
was like, bro, you need to love whatever that is.
You're you're not you. You're back though, Yeah, I'm back,
I'm back.

Speaker 7 (12:53):
I'm back.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Now, I'm back. I'm back. I'm good. I'm good.

Speaker 5 (12:55):
But yeah, but it was like that, it was like, wait,
you went you're you're not the energy zapper Jess, like, yet,
that's not what you doing. You're zapping the energy when
we walk in this room and you can feel it.
And so I hope it. I like good energy, So
I hope it's stays.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
What are you.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Hearing from You're still very connected in this building from
coaches and players. Are they are they kind of rolling
eyes and going yeah, you know, we'll see or is
it like, no, this is Are they excited about the season?
Are they excited about the new direction, the new energy,
the new do they are they buying into? I know

(13:29):
it's early, but are they buying into what's going on
on that side of the bill?

Speaker 1 (13:33):
They are they are?

Speaker 5 (13:34):
I had a conversation maybe like twenty minute conversation with
marithlea if Out maybe two three weeks ago. We were
standing inside the Fortune and we were just chopping it
up and he loved the energy. He was talking about,
you know, by Shoddy, but he was mainly talking about
like what we're doing on defense and ebra flus. He's like, man,
I love it. He's like, man, this is back kind

(13:54):
of what I was doing in college. I'm having a
good time. You know, football's fun again and whatever that
football fun again. That I've heard a couple of times
from people, but the but the consensus has been right now,
everybody's loving the energy. Everybody's having a good time.

Speaker 8 (14:09):
Now.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
That could be you know, when you're away from the
game for a long time, you're ready to get started again.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
It could be a little bit of that. You know,
week three.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
You see what I'm saying, it's not it's not quite
that checked back and everybody's getting a little bit of
a rotation. O t A excuse me. Many camps will
start uh next week. So you know, all the all
the smiley, all the guys that are running around here
getting reps in all these different groups. When that stops that,
you don't you don't when that when when the big
dogs all come back and it's really start to kind

(14:39):
of get down to the nitty gritty.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
Yeah, we're not gonna have four five groups going at
the same time. We're not. You go stand back there and.

Speaker 10 (14:45):
You watch watch your capitalion s against look at that
sheet and see if you're on here, See if you're
gonna get some reps today.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
It's just it's just it's just it's different. Different.

Speaker 5 (14:56):
But right now, from the senses that I'm getting from
from people that i'm that I talk to, and as
I see, they're loving, they're loving everything about brun Schottenheim
right now and his coach.

Speaker 8 (15:07):
He's doing all the right things.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Good. Well, let's do the right thing here and pay
some bills so we can get our ten bucks. There
you're today.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
You don't even have your ad reads out. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
I gotta go find them. So we'll take a break
and then when we come back, I'll do another read
and then we'll talk some more football, some other things
that coach Schottenheimer has said, and some questions that Kurt
has when we come back on hanging with the boys.

Speaker 11 (15:30):

have breaks probably the two minutes before we go on era,
the four minutes in the breaks, and the the two
or three minute walk off that we have. Then I

(18:41):
do all week listening to sports talk radio.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Some good stuff.

Speaker 7 (18:44):
Man, this is good stuff, so great. Maybe one of
these days we'll be able to pull the curtain.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
It's so thankful that Chris is our friend and not
never leave our MIC's potted up.

Speaker 7 (18:54):
Yes, yeah, just wait.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Yeah. And I'm glad Chris is our friend because we
learned a lot from Chris too.

Speaker 7 (19:02):
I'm glad.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
I'm glad Chris trusts us because we do. We know
things we probably shouldn't.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
Know, except when they're shooting a series that he knew
about that didn't tell.

Speaker 7 (19:12):
Yeah, he holds out.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
He does hold out.

Speaker 8 (19:14):
On getting the tip of the ice perg from Chris.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Was just what was that?

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Was that?

Speaker 7 (19:19):
The just the tip?

Speaker 1 (19:20):
I don't know, something that that they were recording.

Speaker 8 (19:22):
With Jerry doing?

Speaker 4 (19:25):
What was he doing? Chris wasn't on the show one
day because he had something to do prompt and he
was up I'm Jerry's prompting. He was up in Jerry's
office filming something that the public.

Speaker 7 (19:36):
Didn't know about.

Speaker 9 (19:37):
Oh, I remember what it was. And he didn't even
tell us about it. I well, obviously I can tell
you now because it's out right. Yeah it was Jimmy.
Oh yeah, yeah, he told Jimmy that he was going
ring yea.

Speaker 7 (19:50):
Chris like, yeah, it was.

Speaker 9 (19:53):
I went up there to shoot it with Scott and
it was it was Jerry.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
Oh my god, but that was so cool.

Speaker 9 (19:59):
It was Harry, Jimmy, Uh, Troy was up there and
uh and Charlotte.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Was that cool.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
It's pretty cool. Yeah, there's some there's I keep that
in the rat for a while. Yeah, there's some things
that a few a few times.

Speaker 7 (20:18):
In your career here.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
There are things because everything's so normal, like you know
Tom Cruise walking down the hall Tom Yeah, and then
goes out and works out at Cowboy Fit with j
Lo and it's like, oh, that's just normal. But there's
there's a few things that will happen along the way
that you're like, that's really that's really cool.

Speaker 9 (20:41):
I tell people sometimes, have you ever seen those ESPN
commercials And they're like real funny, like you know, walking
through the walking through the ye That's kind of how
it is round here.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Yeah, it's the truth.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
It really is. You go to the cafeteria, Stephen as
down a getting in a line.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Yeah, at the Capital, and he's nice and he likes
the cowboy and it's like a bizarro worl like funny.
He loves Jerry and he actually likes he hates Cowboy fans,
but he likes the Cowboys.

Speaker 9 (21:06):
It was funny on Tuesday, right down there eating and
obviously media days were going on and practice was going on,
and like Rawity just walks full costume right through the
middle of the of the training table. I'm just like, yep,
it's like the commercial, you know. It is the only
thing he didn't do is go get something.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
I'll never forget the time we were at the Old
Valley Ranch and we were the break room. Like now
we have this huge, luxurious lunch room where players and
it's how many square feet do y'all think?

Speaker 1 (21:38):
That is?

Speaker 4 (21:39):
Ten thousand, five thousand square feet?

Speaker 7 (21:42):
Ten thousand square feet? The old break room was.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
Was smaller than this podcast studio. It's always about the
same size.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
What the players there that too?

Speaker 4 (21:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Oh yeah, yeah, it was like this. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Well that was by the way, there was like four
vending machines in it.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (21:59):
Well that was no. That was in the back where
the players eight.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Oh that was small too.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
That was small too. But our break room was about
the size of this podcast to it. But it was
also the press conference room, so they would put the
backdrop in front of the mirror and you would the
media would sit at the same tables we would eat
potato chips at and there were four Vendom machines behind
the wall and they did some big announcement and it

(22:24):
was like this big deal and it was a Salvation
Army and Jerry's up there and me and Nick had
just started sharing an office. It was back probably two
thousand and eleven maybe, and the kettle was there. Rowdy
was there, and the kettle was there, and Jerry and
the backdrop and all the media and it was like
crammed and the kettle's like the Salvation Army kettle. They

(22:45):
had a mascot full costume, and the kettle was hiding
behind the wall with the Vendom machines to come out
when they made this announcement, and the kettle got stuck.
It was like corner so bouncing off the Vendo machines
and you kept hearing bang bang while the press conference
is going on in the front of the wall, and

(23:07):
me and Nick lost it. And then finally they they
announced it, and the kettle is trying to get around
the corner and you can't get around the corner because.

Speaker 9 (23:16):
Perspective, the kettle looks like the it basically looked like
the kool Aid man.

Speaker 11 (23:21):
Oh yeah, yeah yeah, it's like, oh yeah.

Speaker 7 (23:26):
You had to be there anyway.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
The best part about that break room was everything was free.
Yeah right, Like people don't realize that, like back in
the day.

Speaker 7 (23:34):
It's like, I didn't even realize.

Speaker 9 (23:35):
You go in there, you hit a button, Yeah, I
paid every time I want to hit the button and
anything come out for free.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
I did not know that.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
Who We'll move on to this kind of briefly go
through this. Who do you think, since we've all been
here a while, a while just in passing, who's probably
the most famous person that you've seen in passing? Whether
it be here a Value Value ranch, or.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Here on the field, or just at the facility.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
At the facility?

Speaker 4 (24:05):
Okay, I got I got at the game.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
I got one. No, not the game doesn't count. I
had to be at the facility, at.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
The facility, the most famous person.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
That's that was the question. Shed the most famous person.

Speaker 7 (24:18):
I didn't see him in passing, but I worked.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Then you didn't.

Speaker 10 (24:21):
Then you didn't see him at the there I want
to see him, but it was my project.

Speaker 7 (24:25):
So I actually was with them all day post Malone.
That's the most famous, I think, so Phil Knight.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
It was a pretty good one. Yeah, I saw Lebron
but he was at the Stageum oh no, I had
to be at the practic and Connor McGregor. Here's a
funny story.

Speaker 9 (24:39):
I can probably say this, but I was going My
brother works obviously.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
In scouting department. Everybody knows that.

Speaker 9 (24:46):
So I was walking out of the scouting department and
I was going down the hallway and there was this
very tall guy walking towards me. And this was probably
about like three years ago, and I got closer. My
holy crap, I think that's Dirk. And Dirk was here,
and he walks by and he goes into the war
room and I'm like, what is he doing in the

(25:08):
war room. He had rented out the war room for
his son for a birthday party.

Speaker 7 (25:14):
That's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
To be rich and famous, that's pretty cool.

Speaker 9 (25:18):
So his son was doing his his son's birthday party
in the war room. And then they were on the
field throwing routes.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
Wow, so there you go.

Speaker 8 (25:24):
Yeah, I just to remember Dirk being around. Bon Jovie
I think came through. That was a big one. Trying
to remember. I still kind of get all strugg just
seeing some of those, like Roger Staalbach or something like that,
you know, trying to.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
I would say for me, it was Tiger Woods.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
Okay, I saw him at the stadium, but not.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Tiger Woods and Valley Ranch.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
Like a.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
Tuesday morning, I'm in networking, just random we're finishing a workouts.
Him and walk in there the workout workout, and it
was like like imagine you're finishing up your ad and
you look up, You're like, oh, what's up? Tone hey,
Tiger Woods? And literally what makes it so funny because

(26:11):
at the time.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
Your red shirt and black slacks.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
No.

Speaker 5 (26:15):
Steve McGee was a backup quarterback here and he like
runs to the car to get a golf ball, golf ball.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
He comes back a Tiger's like shut him down, I
don't sign. Oh. He's like, oh okay.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
He ran ran and got a piece of print paper
and like Tiger signed the printed paper. He was like,
I don't sign golf balls, like shoot get away, but
didn't go like Tiger was in there like hitting three
fifteen like it was. I was like, oh, so that
was like one of the most famous people. I was
just like, and they're just kicking it with Tiger Woods.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
You say anything, Nelson Mandel is my biggest one I've
ever seen.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Yeah, we were talking. Nelson Mandella's a big one. That's
a huge one.

Speaker 7 (26:50):
That's a big one.

Speaker 9 (26:51):
In two thousand, like two thou nineteen ninety nine, two thousand,
he was in the locker room.

Speaker 7 (26:57):
That's after the game. That's worldly.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
Yes, yeah, that's a big one.

Speaker 7 (27:03):
All right. Oh yeah, it's time for another break.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
Before we go to break, Mike is gonna be He
finished up the birthday.

Speaker 7 (27:11):
Tour, right, he said. It's what he said on Instagram.
Was it his birthday?

Speaker 1 (27:16):
No?

Speaker 11 (27:17):
Was?

Speaker 7 (27:17):
He just liked he went.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
To Spain, right in Spain. But he'll be back next week. Right,
He's here. He's here here and came in Tuesday, Tuesday, Okay,
so he's here just not participating rightfully, so which he shouldn't.

Speaker 8 (27:32):
Didn't he post something he will be at mini camp,
but whether he's on the field.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
It was a very conflicting.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
Zach Martin was a mini camp.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Yeah, it was a very conflicting.

Speaker 5 (27:39):
Tomber Jesse, Yeah, because he was like, oh, you know,
I'll be there, and it is like he said, but
it's on the owners. Like he was like, like, I'll
be there, but it's on NIM kind of like will
I do while I'm.

Speaker 10 (27:52):
There, I will be in the bill is call me,
I'll come up there.

Speaker 5 (27:56):
I'll be there in that contract. You just thread that
contract by day even Dave, get me the o K.
I'll come back around to sign it and be on
the field. So he was like, I'll be there, but
it was like kind of like, but it's on NIM.
But it left it very vaguely. It was a very
it was the very cryptic.

Speaker 8 (28:12):
I think we said the right move last week. We
said that's the right move.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
I agree, I think so.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
And you know, without a doubt, if you know Jerry,
when he does sit down face to face with David Mulgato, M.

Speaker 7 (28:28):
Yeah, he's gonna be like he nice to meet you.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
What was your dame?

Speaker 5 (28:32):
Know, Jerry's gonna pull that when they do the press
conference for sure, something.

Speaker 7 (28:37):
For sure, like that's just Jerry, that's in Jerry's blood.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
All right, let's take our next break. When we come back,
we'll talk some more football.

Speaker 7 (28:44):
We wasted a segment. It's usually the last one, but.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
We wasted the middle one today, so we'll be right
back hanging with the boys.

Know probably not that there's a five thousand dollars winner
every single day where Jesse gets.

Speaker 5 (31:18):
His gas seven eleven. I didn't know what store y'all
talking about. I didn't know because I'm at seven eleven

the inn app game for a chance to win five
thousand dollars in cash new daily cash winners only at
seven to eleven. Jesse, are you next?

Speaker 1 (31:38):

play the inn app game for a chance to win
five thousand dollars in cash.

Speaker 7 (31:52):
Every day they have a five thousand dollars winner.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
I totally missed a step. There you go, I'm in there,
go get your gass. I use the I use my number.

Speaker 4 (32:01):
Do you buy anything else? At seven eleven. I do
no big golfs, lottery tickets or you a lottery guy?

Speaker 5 (32:08):
No I big olds, yeah, big gold.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
The way he's rubbing his eyes, this is gonna be
some kind of vice.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
It is.

Speaker 7 (32:15):
What is it your energy drinks?

Speaker 1 (32:17):
It's it's either that or gummy candy man. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
I never got into gummy candy, Swedish fish and things
like that.

Speaker 5 (32:28):
Life Can we say this, like, can we say a
company brand on there, like Lifesaver has a gummy it's
called Lifesaver gummies.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
So I say, Jolly Rancher, Jolly Rancher gummies.

Speaker 7 (32:39):
They're good.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:39):
I remember is this is during COVID, when COVID shut
everything down and everybody was bored. I just did like
a spreadsheet of what I like, what I looked over,
like what I spent monthly, and you just look at
every single time I go to the gas station, it's
like nine dollars, nine dollars, eight dollars, twelve dollars, and
it'll be like it'll be a water, a celsius, a

(33:03):
slim gym, and some candy like, but it'll be three
or four times a week and you.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Look up and you're like a slim gem. Yeah, anybody
like slim JEMs.

Speaker 5 (33:12):
I do a slim jim oh to a slim jon
And I'm like, I spend so much nickeling dot like
literally nickeling dime money a.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
Week just on a stop to a slim gym.

Speaker 4 (33:27):
Yeah, so thirty forty one hundred and fifty bucks a
month probably just on trash.

Speaker 5 (33:33):
Easy, just on water, like bottle water, slim gem, some
sort of trail mix, and of course the gummy candy.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Well there you go. So next time you do that,
you purchase something. At seven eleven, play the app for
a chance to win five thousand dollars no purchase necessary
ends one six two thousand, twenty six US and DC
ages sixteen over. For full official rules and free gameplay,
go to five k Dash of day dot com backslash rules.

Speaker 1 (33:58):

Speaker 7 (34:01):
What are your what are your vices?

Speaker 8 (34:03):
Kurt?

Speaker 4 (34:04):
Do you have any like guilty pleasures when it comes
to food or candy?

Speaker 1 (34:08):
Every once in a while.

Speaker 8 (34:09):
I got to get me a big mac, old school,
old school, definitely got to get that.

Speaker 7 (34:14):
Do you feel bad from water, Burger?

Speaker 8 (34:16):
No, not from water?

Speaker 4 (34:17):
Well?

Speaker 8 (34:18):
Yeah, waters? Great? Love me some water?

Speaker 1 (34:20):
Oh yeah, yes, yes, yes, from water Burger.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
See what we did there, Yes, yeah, yes, no way stop.

Speaker 8 (34:30):
Yeah, gotta give me a cheeseburger sometimes.

Speaker 7 (34:34):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
Four times a week for me. That's your guilty pleasure,
Peanut and m that's one.

Speaker 8 (34:42):
Okay, I will hit that up pretty regularly for sure.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
On the flights, they used to have the big share
bag game and yeah player flights. They don't do those anymore. No,
they don't know.

Speaker 9 (34:54):
They used to have a tray of candy. Well now
you have to ask for it. No brands they don't have.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
They used to to have the ice cream with the
you know the one with like the almonds and the
chocolate and stuff like that. They still bring those out.
But I was in training camp last year. They usually
have met training cap.

Speaker 4 (35:10):
I wanted.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
Lady said, no, no, no, all that healthy. Still we
were healthy over here. I was like wait what? I
was like, This used to be a staple. You grab
two or three d's on your way back the Miss
Vicky chips on the way back to the room.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
They took all it out of it.

Speaker 4 (35:26):
I'll never forget the first time I ever.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
Shot he bring it back, Shotty, you want to bring
the culture back if you want the culture to be right, Shody,
bring the chips, bring the ice cream back, bring all
of that back that makes people happy.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
What were the ice cream sandwiches that they had, Chris,
they know you're talking about the slim They were like, yeah,
after calories or something. Spot not spotted cow. That's a
that's a beer. That's a beer. What's the what were
those things called? They were ice cream sandwiches? Were they
there when you were there?

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Just I don't know, I was.

Speaker 9 (35:56):
They were really small, and I remember because they didn't
have them list year, because uh my boss would take
some and put them in our freezer in our room
and we'd have a whole bunch of.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
Left What were those called? Because I discovered them at
training camp and I realized they were like a third
the calories of a normal ice cream sand I would
house like six of those. I'd go down there for
breakfast and dig Themthad.

Speaker 5 (36:17):
What was the name of the ice cream brand they had?
It comes in the box. You know what ice cream
comes in the box, like tho.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
They were called skinny cows, by the way, skinny.

Speaker 7 (36:25):
Cow, that was it, not spiking cow.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
But go ahead, talk.

Speaker 7 (36:27):
Football, football, all right, let's finish off so strong.

Speaker 8 (36:30):
So I look at our comments on YouTube. Our good
fan We got some good fans on YouTube.

Speaker 7 (36:35):
We have some bad fans.

Speaker 8 (36:36):
Here's one comment. What's up with this show?

Speaker 1 (36:39):
Is it?

Speaker 8 (36:39):
Giggle tickle time? Come on, we heat info and preferably
on the rookies. Bring on the meat and potatoes fellas giggle. Well,
what do you know about rookies? We don't know about
what's that guy's that is, mister Espinoza.

Speaker 4 (36:56):
Mister Espinoza. We will let you know as soon as
we have information. The Underwear Olympics are happening yes week.

Speaker 8 (37:02):
You seem one day a week.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
How do you feel about the Underwear Olympics?

Speaker 8 (37:05):
There?

Speaker 4 (37:05):
Jesse?

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Great? How about it?

Speaker 9 (37:11):
Here's the thing is, no one's making the team or
getting cut this week.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
You know what I'm saying, right, This doesn't happen unless
you do something. Everybody looks good.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
And that's the thing that we're like, what we can
come here and we can try to sell you some
some bs. There's nothing that's happening out there that's going
to that's gonna give you any insight on what will
happen in training camp. There's no pads there's no contact.
You know, you can't suppose you're not to have contact.

(37:41):
But football right now is as vanilla as it can
possibly get. Everything now is install Everything right now is
fundamental base. Nothing that's exciting, nothing that's.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
I promise you. They are not bringing friends and family
and alumni out here to stand on the field while
they are running drills. If it's super important, right, that's
not happening. You're gonna get friends and family as far
away from this facility as possible if it's something you
really need to concentrate and focus.

Speaker 5 (38:15):
They got a nineteen barbecue pit out there, like yeah,
like it's parked.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
Right a bottom, feel like you can smell you can
smell the charcoal. Yes, in the huddle, it's yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:27):
Enjoy these stories, yes, yeah, because you know you'll miss
someone ever. I mean, there probably are a lot of
people that watch the show for the first time. They're like,
what the hell am Like, why are these people still
on the air, Like this is the longest This is
the longest show with the same group of people on
any of the Dallas Cowboy podcasts. Like we've been together

(38:49):
what seven years now? That's true, And usually they move
one or two pieces around, keep things fresh every few years.
I think it's because we're so terrible that no one
us to work with us.

Speaker 7 (39:00):
And I'm fine with that.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
That's a lie.

Speaker 7 (39:02):
I'm totally fine.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
We're not terrible, We're excellent.

Speaker 5 (39:05):
We're so excellent that other people are intimidated to work
with where can't find anybody wants I don't work with
that guy way they bring it down over there.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
That guy is an idiot. I don't want him anywhere
near football talk.

Speaker 7 (39:18):
I think that's how.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
We landed where we are.

Speaker 5 (39:20):
No, they can't, they can't. You've seen gods try to
come on our show. It's all You've seen gods try
to come on our show and hang it it ain't
you gotta you gotta, Yeah, you gotta come this show.
You have to be well versed to be on this show.
You just can't come here and be all persnickety. That's
not gonna work here. You got you gotta have the

(39:42):
information to do it. But you also have to have
a little bit of personality.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
Yeah, it's a different vibe for sure. It's a vibe
than any other show. Yeah, and we don't ever holler
at each other and get mad for what the show
seem to be, you know, very high strong.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
Speaking to other shows.

Speaker 5 (40:01):
Remember that that I looked at this the other day
and shout out to her, Uh is Josh back there?

Speaker 1 (40:07):
Yeah right, no, all right, I don't like Josh.

Speaker 5 (40:11):
But that other show that Josh is on they tried
to make they tried to make a joke.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
About my hairline.

Speaker 5 (40:18):
That might be the worst hairline show in the business
as a whole.

Speaker 4 (40:26):
I would looking at that, and I said, in the business,
not just in this building.

Speaker 5 (40:29):
But in the business as a whole. That group alone
might have the worst hairline. They all wear hats, all
of them except except uh, except uh.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
Who's the host?

Speaker 5 (40:45):
I'm blowing drown a blank Kyle Kyle, all the rest
of them trying to put on hats. So at least
I wear in my received hairline with pride. They try
to hide their They're all trying to wear hats, backers, hats,
fitted hats, all that kind of hats.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
Now, y'all, y'all have to show the bad hairl How.

Speaker 4 (41:00):
Far back would it have to go for you to
lose the dreads?

Speaker 1 (41:05):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (41:05):
I think about cut my hair daily. I'm going to Turkey.
Oh when I cut this off. I'm going to Turkey.

Speaker 7 (41:12):
Really, yeah, Are you gonna cut your dreads one day?

Speaker 1 (41:15):
No, I'm so here's a plan.

Speaker 7 (41:16):
Okay, yes, tell me the plan.

Speaker 5 (41:18):
So I haven't heard this, I will cut them off.
I am going to Turkey. I'm getting the mail b
b L. I'm coming back, and then when it grows
back out, I'm getting reattached. Oh you say them, yeah, really, yes,
that's a good plan I'm going to get I'm going
to So don't don't when y'all see me, don't be like, oh,
what happened.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
I'm going to Turkey. I'm going to.

Speaker 8 (41:41):
Get enthusiasm about Turkey.

Speaker 5 (41:43):
That's where all that that's where called the mail BBL goes.
That's where you go get the hair then you get
your hairline fixed.

Speaker 4 (41:49):
In the Turkey, they have like these spas that you
go and it's like a oh.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
Your boys skirt all vanity, baby, it's all vanity, it's
all vanity. I'm going to Turkey now, I'm going how soon?

Speaker 7 (42:05):
What's the timeline here?

Speaker 1 (42:06):
I don't know at some point just when you tell
in the next couple of years.

Speaker 7 (42:10):
Oh so within five years?

Speaker 1 (42:11):
Sure? Oh for sure?

Speaker 4 (42:12):
Really does it worry you about going being put Are
you taking a friend?

Speaker 1 (42:17):
Yeah, I'm not going solo. You're not gonna take my
orders out.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
Yeah, so I will be a little worried about that. Yeah,
putting you under for because they put you to sleep.

Speaker 5 (42:25):
And honestly, there will be another There will be a
male that goes with me. No, no, but I'm going
to have someone else that's gonna be able to defend
me while i'm under.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (42:33):
If I'm Jay Holly, it's all vanity from here. Well,
you get to our age. It's all about holding on
to what you got. And I don't take no medicine.
I don't do no o zempic or nothing like that.
By the way, I'm down to a swelt two hundred. Yeah,
I'm down to a swelt two two pounds brother, are
you yes? Yeah, It's all about holding on to whatever

(42:55):
youthfulness I got left. So I will be so don't
be shocked. And they'd be like, good, Jesse, hell a
looking good.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
That's right.

Speaker 7 (43:02):
So you'll come in.

Speaker 4 (43:03):
No, you'll have no hair, and then at some point,
probably within the next year year and a half, you'll
come back in and you'll have full hair again. Okay, Yeah,
that'll be interesting, Yeah, be shocking.

Speaker 5 (43:16):
Yeah, all right, but money away to side. All Money's
already already there. It's already been put away. So it's
all gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (43:24):
It's all gonna happen, all right, before we go real quick,
just so we make is there a show after us today?

Speaker 1 (43:28):
Chris?

Speaker 7 (43:29):
No, okay, real quick?

Speaker 4 (43:31):
Then Shoddy said, since we're on the Shoddy bandwagon today,
they will play the best five offensive linemen regardless of position.
I guess is what he's saying, right, Well.

Speaker 8 (43:44):
That's where it sounds, But I don't think that's Yeah, what.

Speaker 7 (43:48):
Did you take? What's your take on that, Jesse?

Speaker 4 (43:50):
Does that mean hey, if we got to move a guy,
we'll move him or is that.

Speaker 1 (43:54):
Just that is that is my That is my translation.

Speaker 5 (44:00):
If Tyler Goton don't get his ish together, there will
be another player in that position because nobody else is
gonna move right, Like your best offensive lineman is Tyler Smith.

Speaker 1 (44:10):
He ain't going nowhere right.

Speaker 5 (44:12):
You kind of got a little bit of a consistency
with BB at center. Tyler Booker, He's gonna, at least
right now go get the start and given a chance
to fail, and who else you're only looking at your
bookings that you're gonna move. And for whatever you feel

(44:33):
about Steele, you don't have a better right guard to
replace him, not right now, not on the roster today.
So the one person that you're talking about is if
Tyler Gotton, and which by the way, Tyler Gotton has
said some really what I was encouraged by because he
took accountability so that I wasn't good enough.

Speaker 1 (44:52):
I have to be better.

Speaker 5 (44:53):
You saw he did some of the lifestyle changes about
the diet and all that kind of stuff and eliminating
certain fools, and that goes a part of about learning
how to be a professional. So but now you have
to take all that you did off the field and
it has to now work for you on the field,
because if you can't play, you can't play. And that's
the that's the that's the the beginning and end of it.

(45:16):
We want to put you on the field at a
premium position, left tackle. If you can't play that position,
I can't keep forcing this thing out there.

Speaker 1 (45:25):
I can't.

Speaker 5 (45:25):
You're gonna get a quarterback killed. You're gonna kill drives
for us. We won't be able to run your way.
So there's a lot of factors into that. So when
when you hear shoddy, Sam, I'm going to play the
best five regardless of position, Well, I know you ain't
changing the three inside.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
I know that's I know that's not changing. Shouldn't it shouldn't.

Speaker 5 (45:42):
And that basically says, in a very vague statement of
we're gonna give the left tackle a chance to earn
his job, but that least won't be as long as
you all think it may be. And I'm gonna I'm
gonna put somebody else in therecause Shoty saw him all
last year and he knows whether it's kicking play or not.

Speaker 7 (46:02):
So we're in your opinion. We're set in the middle.
It's kind of a.

Speaker 5 (46:05):
Your set guard center guard. You're set there, that is,
you can write that, and we're not moving those guys
around unless some injury. Listen, brock Coffin, we appreciate you,
oh that we were grabbing you want to do we
think we thank you. You're not playing. You're not playing,
over Booker. There's a reason why they went and got
a guard in the first round.

Speaker 4 (46:24):
By the way, Tyler Booker was that the most of
the Stars play Off series came out on the concourse.
They got him a my buddy runs the merchandise over
at the Stars. Chris Smith saw him at the game,
got him a customed jersey made within like thirty min
send it down there to him, got him, got him

(46:46):
suited up, and after the game we ran across him
in the concourse. Took every picture, just the most jovial nice.

Speaker 5 (46:55):
We took the jersey back like that, Wow, he got
to keep the jersey.

Speaker 4 (47:00):
Super nice. Was super pumped to be in Dallas, said
it was. We were talking to him about, hey, is
this we know you came, you know, from a high
profile college, Like.

Speaker 7 (47:10):
Is this kind of mind blow?

Speaker 4 (47:11):
And he's like, it's pretty wild. It's like, you know,
because everybody knew who he was.

Speaker 7 (47:15):
Everybody's taking pictures.

Speaker 4 (47:17):
So it seems like a really nice guy.

Speaker 7 (47:20):
Even off camera.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
Seems like he's got a pretty good head on his shoulders.
Big human too, saying on the right thing, very large human,
so great hair too.

Speaker 5 (47:27):
You kind of guy, black man BBM, all right, fellas,
let's get out of here.

Speaker 8 (47:37):
For those on the on the chat, Nate was on
the road trip to Georgia. Yes, several people came in
late asking.

Speaker 4 (47:43):
Yeap road trip to Georgia, Florida probably, who knows, he
might go up to Jersey and might see if Jesse's
on the porch on his way back.

Speaker 7 (47:53):
We need to do a road trip as a show.

Speaker 1 (47:55):
We say that, we said that every single year.

Speaker 7 (47:58):
Get in something. Let nate dry and make it happen.

Speaker 4 (48:01):
Chris, all right, Fellas, good stuff, Chris, thanks for keeping
us on the air. No one's back there to keep
him company today, which is very unfortunate, but peaceful for Chris.
We will be back next week, same time, same place. Well,
many can't be going on next week, Yes.

Speaker 7 (48:16):
All week.

Speaker 4 (48:18):
You may have to adjust our show next week.

Speaker 7 (48:20):
Oh okay, stay tuned. Check the website next week.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
Our last one, Chris, that is correct.

Speaker 4 (48:25):
Well we have one, yes, okay, all unless you don't
want one.

Speaker 7 (48:28):
No, we want one for sure.

Speaker 4 (48:30):
More the better, more ten bucks in my pocket, the better, Fellas.
See you next week.

Speaker 1 (48:35):
Well.

Speaker 2 (48:36):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
