Zack Martin may be riding off into the Hall of Fame sunset, but there is still a team to be built. Now that Osa Odighizuwa is signed and the Cowboys have freed up some salary cap space, what do they do? Focus on re-signing their own guys? Or do they need to make a big free-agent splash? Or two? Plus, the Raiders extended Maxx Crosby’s deal early. Why don’t we see more of that?

Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Man, phenomenal imaging girl over there.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
I mean, somebody learned me to that. Like man, he
just been talking to her quite.

Speaker 5 (02:09):
I go down to the lunch room, but I speak
to those who are in the in my vicinity. No one,
no more, no one, no less.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
But the smile was a little bit different. You know,
you kind of rubbed, you know, your joints.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
While he was talking to us. So anything, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 5 (02:26):
That that particular person, that particular person I don't know.
I know, I don't know yet. That particular person. She works,
she works in the imaging Okay, yeah, so you know me,
if it's free, is for me? Just making sure you're okay, yeah, no, no,
you know, if it's if it's for me, it was
my shoulder. It's the shoulder, it's the shoulder.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
It's the shoulder.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
So you know, I'm trying to see what the what
the cost is for the images.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (02:54):

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Sure my shoulder packing yourself on the back so much.

Speaker 1 (03:05):

Speaker 2 (03:18):

Speaker 1 (03:24):
He picked the wrong day to juice.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
I know, I know, poke bo man, I walk right by.
I walk like the smell hit my nose. I walked
right by.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Wow. Yeah man.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
Yesterday, Yeah, it became official. A couple of things happened yesterday.
But let's let's address the first thing. It became official yesterday,
Zach Martin officially retired from the Dallas Cowboys. They had
the ceremony here, Jerry spoke, Steven spoke, of course, Zach
Martin spoke, and then you had a host of former

(03:59):
two uh that were in attendance, some most notably his
you know his guys, Travick Travis. Frederick Tyron was in attendance,
Tony Romo was in attendance, and who else was there?

Speaker 6 (04:14):
Kurt I didn't see him, A lot of current guys.
curR and Jordan Lewis was there, and Tyron Crawford saw him.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Come to.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
Great I'll say this, and Nate you can you could,
I would hope back me up on this. In all
of football, there isn't a more tighter knick group than
the offensive line.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
That's it. That's like.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
The offensive line is a group that and it's it's
not segregated by draft picks, by nothing, nothing like if
you're an offensive lineman, you're an offensive lineman. When y'all
go and go do something, the practice squad, dude is invited.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
It's not like trust me because in other groups, if
you're not in that up the upper part of the group,
you don't get an invite. Nah nah. You find out
next they coming to the meeting, they're like, oh, man,
last night you look around. You was like, y'all when
I last night, what y'all do looking at your phone?
You miss something? Oh okay, I get it. I'm not

(05:22):
in that starting rotation, so I don't get the I
don't get the invite, but offensive Lineman, that is one
group who they are true to one another. You mess
with one, you mess with them all. They stick together,
they roll together. That that that is family for them.
And it's usually a group that stays together for a
long time. Even after about.

Speaker 6 (05:42):
That during the during his farewell speech about how they
were close, they were together. You call it the one
group that works, you know, as it has to work
as a group basically. So yeah, heimes all.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
The time, but it's official. Zach Martin is done the game.
The game is over for Zach Martin. But while they
were there because Jerry Jones skipped out, I don't want
to skipped out or postponed or whatever you want to
call it. His conversation is scheduling. Normally at the Combine,

(06:16):
Jerry would have a media powow right he bus shows up,
They get to a point, Jerry opens up the bus.
All the media members that want to partake in it
come on to the bus and they have this talk
for an hour, hour and a half.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
What have you Well?

Speaker 5 (06:33):
For whatever reason, this year at the Combine, scheduling wise,
they had places they need to go, people, they needed
to see, things that they needed to accomplish in Indie.
One of those things not opening up the bus to media.
Now feel how you feel, Take it how you take it.
But they got a chance to talk to him yesterday,
and we are in this offseason cycle again where the

(06:56):
things that come out of mister Jones's mouth may not
always be the things that people want to hear, especially
the fan base, and this on this particular day, he
says that the Cowboys don't have many voids, and that
the Cowboys aren't looking to fill these voids or whatever

(07:16):
voice they don't have via free agency. They'll take care
of this stuff in the draft. Nate, I'll start with you.
Have we come to a point where we completely stopped
listening to what he says? Or is this some sort
of smoke screen that he's trying to throw us because
he's working on some other things that are happening behind

(07:39):
the scenes.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
I think it's happening behind the scenes. He's always got
something going. The thing that bothers me about and I
always have bothered me about missus Jones. He says so
much to he can after he goes back into his
room and say whatever he needs to pick out of

(08:01):
that and I give you example, you know, Seane Dacken,
I'm telling you you don't have to work more or less.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
As the season went on. Did I tell y'all he
was out of this?

Speaker 2 (08:15):
What he's just told us, we'll see two or three
months from now which part he picks to use as
his front.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
So I just listened to him and joined, that's about
as fu as I go with him.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
Kurt in the same vein. Now, could it be happening
behind the scenes, And some may seem or some may
say that's happening because one you saw the switches being
hit on a couple of contracts, right the Cowboys. We
all know that this sid of the cap went up. But
you saw Ceedee Lamb his contract flip got switched on.
That contract freed up some more money. And you saw

(08:51):
then Dak Prescott's contract flip God switched. They freed up
about fifty six million dollars in cap space.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Now if you add there's twenty more Menie.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
If you add the money that you're going to get
from the Michael Parsons contract, we're talking about US eighteen
to twenty million dollars. Yeah, so we're talking now close
to eighty million dollars an available cap space. Are they
going to do something with that money?

Speaker 6 (09:18):
Kurt, I would hope so. I mean I think so.
I think after last year, hopefully they learned a lesson
that all in. You know, we all have different interpretations
of all in, but I mean this team, as much
as he may say it, there are voids that need
to be filled. And I think last year they tried
to fill some voids with young guys, with rookie guys,
and they just they couldn't do it. And I think

(09:40):
if they really want to get back in, if they
want to compete in this division, now they've got to
go out and they're gonna have to spend some money.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
Would it behoove us as what do you call us?
So you call us analysts? Do you call us media members?
Do you call us pundits? Are hanging out boys? The
boys that just hanging out? We really do hanging out?
Would it behoove us two to cut us take a
step back and maybe look at this from a different

(10:08):
angle and try to put on the glasses of Jerry Jones,
because we when we hear him say, we don't have
any voice to feel right, We don't, We don't we
don't have any voice to feel. Right now, we can
sit here and go.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Well, you got that right there.

Speaker 5 (10:29):
In the offensive line, defensive line. You probably need another cornerback,
another running back, definitely need another wide receiver. But then
Jerry may look at it and go, well, I hired
a new staff and all the stuff that I just hired,
all of you guys on that staff, tell me just
how much you guys are good teachers and good motivators
and good you know, bring a talent along. And we
have players in those positions.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Now.

Speaker 5 (10:50):
It may not be the names that you want, that
you want, that I want, that you want, the fans want,
but there are people that are in that position. Do
we look at that and go? Maybe he looks at
that and go, these coaches are supposed to take those
players in those positions and coach them up to be
more than formidable for us going forward.

Speaker 7 (11:10):
I e.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
The voids that you guys, you me, us are talking
about aren't really there because we actually have people in
place for them. Should we take that approach to what
he's saying when he said that there aren't any voids
that he sees on this football.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Team, if, if only, if he's calling this a rebuild.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
I'm with that. You can feel these voids in the
with the draft.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
You know, whoever you draft or you're rebuilding, he's trying
to figure out what you have. Now, if we're rebuilding,
I'm all in on what he's saying. But if we're
not rebuilding, we need to go out and get like
I can just name you about full real quick. We
need to get real quick, you know, somehow, some way
through free agency or the draft.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
So you say draft right now today as we sit,
no other trades have happened, so we haven't gotten any
more conversation. The Cowboys have a total of ten draft picks.
They have six regular draft picks and I believe four
comp draft picks and there are four comp draft picks.
Are yes, there are three fifth round picks and one

(12:20):
sixth round picks.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
So can you package them and get and get a four?

Speaker 5 (12:28):
Well, that fourth is gone, they gave that fourth away.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
They take these compensatory picks and package them all, give
them all for a fourth.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
And so when you think about filling voids through the draft,
you don't really bank on fifth and sixth round picks
having a significant impact on your football team.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Can we just package all of them and get a fourth.

Speaker 5 (12:55):
I don't know. I don't know if someone is willing
to give you a fourth round pick for those I'm
not saying that it can't happen. I don't know if
it will happen. But as the Cowboys currently sitting like
your first three picks gotta hit like you you have
positioned yourself this year. We're heading into this draft because listen,
we can. I can try to make the words jump

(13:18):
and flip however I want to flip them. But there's holes,
Oh for sure. There's voids.

Speaker 6 (13:23):
They have to know that they are no second receiver.
There's you know, defensive tackles. There's cornerbacks. I mean there's
and I don't think I hope they don't want to
go into the season again relying on young guys to
fill those voids.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
It's a rebuild, fellas it.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Everyone I talked to that does this type of thing
that we do, sit in front of microphones and give
our opinions. I'm going to impress upon y'all's where at nauseum, Yeah,
that it's a rebuild. I've talked to a few guys
on the who do other shows not as great as

(14:06):
our show, but they do other shows.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Men live, women live. Numbers don't. Yeah, so.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
You know, the number worse. The numbers say we the best.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
They could have put up with what I said that
the numbers say we the best. But anyway, and I've
been it's a rebuild. It's a rebuild.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
From top to bottom.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
And I'm talking about from head coach to the to
the The only thing in the rebuil, the only thing
we can depend on this year, and I'm not being funny,
is the kicker in the return man because those are
the only all pros on the scene. Besides who else
was all pro number eleven?

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Yeah, that's what that. Everything else is a rebuild, my friends.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
So I'm really so, I don't like, do you spend
eighty million dollars four years on?

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Oh so if you're building, yes, you will see.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
The ugly thing about the cap is when it comes
time to pay multiple players, you can't, But to play
one or two players you can. And that's the ugly
thing about the cap, you know, and in the Cowboys
not seeing Okay, now that I understand, Oh, it's a contract,
not a bad contract, but yesterday I thought it was

(15:24):
not a great contract. But six this year, sixteen, next year, twenty,
in the following year, I can deal with it.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
Oh so your agent left a lot of money on
the table, But that's just.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yeah, yeah, but it's the same guy that was saying
on that say I said Bear twenty five.

Speaker 5 (15:40):
Yeah, I'm just saying, like, two things can be true
right the way that I felt, I still felt. You
love a lot of money on the table that you
could have got. But such is a life, all right, man,
Let's go into our first break of the show. When
we come back, we'll talk about aggressive not aggressive, Like,

(16:03):
how will the fan base take if they go into
another offseason and they do not sign one, two, maybe
three premiere free agents. Cowboys need them, fans want them.
We'll talk about them.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Luca Gone, we can still to show, y'all.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
Back Welcome back to Hanging with the Boys, our Thursday
off season audition. The segment is brought to you by
Blockchain Blockchain dot Com also its presidents brought you by
Jigsaw Proud, dating partner of the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry said
that there are no voids. Steven and Jerry talked about

(18:51):
it being selectively aggressive. Not the words using aggressive, but
what the fans want to see when you start talking
about all the money that was freed up, and what
was funny about the whole money thing being freed up.
I love social media. It is a great place and
it is hell at the same time. It is literally

(19:14):
a great place, and it absolutely held all in the
same breath. But of course the reports come out that
Cede Lamb they restructured Ceede Lamb's contract, which they really didn't.
They should find a better term. They didn't restructure. It
was already built into the way of the comment. And
I love the fact that Cede Lamb responds to somebody's

(19:38):
tweet and they asked him, you know that was a
dumb move. And CD takes credit for this money being
flipped in his contract, but he didn't get any more money.
He didn't lose any more money. It's just what the
contract was supposed to do at this particular time. But
ced gets on there and he takes credit for it,
and it's everywhere everyone's like, I want to win, can't

(20:00):
do it by myself. As if he went in there
it was like, hey, restructure this move something, I'll take less.
He didn't do anything, but he took absolute credit for it,
and I love it. And then the same thing happened
to Dak's contract. Now Dak hadn't touched the Twitter didn't
make a response, so people aren't giving him the same
love and fanfare for taking his cap number down and

(20:23):
making thirty six million dollars available to the Cowboys to spend.
But that's just social media for you. In a nutshell,
neither nothing happened to their contracts. This was already built
in from the day to day sign these contract This
was going to happen in the years. That was gonna
happen to free the money up, because there was no
way in hell they were ever gonna let Dak get
to eighty nine million dollars or whatever the number is

(20:46):
his cap number is this year. That was always a
part of the plan. So no money went anywhere. No
restructuring happened of these contracts. But the Cowboys did free
up the money. Now what now?

Speaker 1 (20:59):
What now?

Speaker 7 (21:01):
What?

Speaker 5 (21:03):
Let me ask you guys this Kurk. Is there a name,
free agent name? Because we can talk about free agents,
we can say anything we want about free agents that
aren't on teams. Is there a free agent that is
out there that you look at and you go, would
mind this guy being a Dallas Cowboy?

Speaker 6 (21:23):
Well, I actually haven't spent a long time looking at
the free agents, but I would like to see him
bring in a good second wide receiver.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
So you know, I don't know, So.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
I'll give you a couple of names. So guys who
are free agents. A guy like Davante Adam free agent yesterday.
Christian Kirk receiver from released from the Jacksonville Jaguars. You
remember him from his time with the Cardinals. Another receiver
from Seattle, Tyler Lockett, was released. You got guys like

(21:52):
Chris gott was coming off her agent. That's a trade.
So he's still technically is still technically a part of
the Seahawks. Yeah, yeah, Keenan Ales, Stefon Diggs, Chris Godwin
is available. There's talks about maybe Tyreek Hill, but I
don't know if he's going to be released. But any
of those names, when you hear a receiver that you

(22:14):
would want to pair up with Ceedee Lamb with the
Cowboys offense, oh.

Speaker 6 (22:19):
I can't really. I mean again, I haven't dug into
him enough. I wouldn't want some of those guys like
Davante Adams, does he still have it?

Speaker 1 (22:26):
You know?

Speaker 6 (22:26):
Or Stefan Diggs, does he still have it? He's coming
off in so I wouldn't want to spend a lot
of money on the players like that. But I think,
you know, younger guys who have shown potential like Kirk
or maybe Godwin or not too old.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
If I'm not thinking God's coming off an injury too,
is he?

Speaker 6 (22:43):
I'm not sure? So I think that they need somebody
with some veteran experience to handle that second wide receiver role.
And then I mean it's kind of intriguing. You know,
Joey Boster I just got released, and you know when
they spend a bunch of money on him.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Games, you don't want that. That's too my money nine
for nine games. If he was playing twelve or more games,
they wouldn't have let loose in charge and land.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
They what position you can go position or you can
go player if you have some players in mind.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Yeah, I'm gonna stick to last year and resigned some of.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
These guys that you developed here, you know, try to
try to lock them into a couple of years because.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
Uh, they re signed brock Hoffman. They signed him back
one year, one year, one to go to where is
he right now? Where is Lewis right now? None of
those guys have been signed back just yet. Right now,
the guys that they signed back is Osa they signed
back to see the Goodwin and good Win god Win Goodwin, Yeah,
Goodwin and brock Hoffman.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Yeah. And we need to get Chauncey back. We need
to get Lewis back, the Son.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Yeah, we we got to Bill. We got to keep
those depth guys. We gotta keep them. Now, who's out
there in free agency? I choose to wait, but uh,
but I'm telling you sign back four or five of
these guys that gave you from back up in depth,

(24:17):
because and then look at who's out there defensively, that's
a difference maker. You know, A bet I don't know
who it is. I don't want no boats. I don't
already made all the playing his eight games.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
I don't want him. So dependability, you know, is that
you know if you're.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
Gonna be there.

Speaker 6 (24:36):
I don't think fans are going to be happy though.
If you're signing the our own guys back, they toash.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
But yeah, we get you're trying to splash. But if
we don't sign a bunch of these guys back, that
means those fifth, sixth, seventh round picks that they won't
bunch up and make a fourth.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
That's who's gonna be playing.

Speaker 5 (24:55):
Yeah, if we get one.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Okay, we got back the kid we drafted in the
second round. He got healthy and started playing. We depending
on Sam Williams coming off a big h surgery to no,
you can't.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Those depth guys is who we got to depend on.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
That is who we had to depend on last year,
and they moved up a little bit. Your offensive line
in the middle is okay, your two tackles you gotta work.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
It's like you said, it's too many voids.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Get these guys that we already know that making sign
I don't know what they'll get out there in the
real world, but try to get some of these guys
because you're gonna need depth.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
I promise you.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
By the end of the season, somebody gonna fall off
the off the ledge. We can be like, well, well
remember now he's playing for such and such now and
doing the hell of a job. We're developing. They go,
I just want to sign some of our guys back.

Speaker 6 (25:46):
So would you guys rather see them spread this money
out and get you know, several mid level guys like
a Chauncey Golston, Or would you rather them saying, spend
big money on a you know, one or two three guys.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
You what I'm saying is they feed up fifty mil, right,
fifty six.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Let's some change when free agency start.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
We're gonna lose one or two of these guys, but
we ain't gonna lose all of them, and they gonna
they gonna come back willingly.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
So let's let's wait and see what happened.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
You you splashed a litt bit with Osa, you may
can go out and get one of those receivers because
we need a second receiver. Do you want to depend
on a draft pick, a number one or number two
draft pick to come in and and and because Seat
D needs help, DK needs help. But you also have
a glaring problem on your offensive line. I think the

(26:42):
middle of your offensive line is set with the new
offensive line coach. He's supposed to be a warlock or
a magic man or whatever.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
You know.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
He can work with the inside. But the two tackles,
you're gonna do something. So it's a lot of glaring hose.

Speaker 6 (26:58):
And y'all, would you rather them go after a veteran
free agent for the tackles?

Speaker 1 (27:04):
They about gone?

Speaker 2 (27:05):
They getting sucked up by that they they they ain't
waiting man, folks, folks, yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
I am.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
Who am I to tell you as an offensive lineman
about it? I think offensive lineman is where they need
to go, is where they should go.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Veteran bro, I'm with you, but I'm not.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
I'm not sure that I believe this is just me
And and again, who am I to go against who
you are in the position.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
That you can't speak your truth? We probably say the
same thing.

Speaker 5 (27:41):
I don't believe that the middle as is as secure.
I think I think middle left is secure. I think
that right guard spots that superl I think middle left
I think I think I think BB and Hoffman. No, no, no, no,
that's right. I'm left is Tyler Smith. I think center

(28:05):
to left we're good, okay. I think Haffing still has
to show me more that I don't know. I don't
know if I'm willing to bet a whole season on him.
I'm for sure out on the tackles.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
Brother, I'd rather deal with Hoffman, who's gonna be gritty,
who's gonna fight and gonna try to do all he
can with his technique. I mean, that's the only thing
that's saving him. If you can get those three guys
working working together, you know. And I'm not saying none
of them great, but the left guard he's great. Right
the center is still in a learning mode, but I

(28:41):
don't know where they're gonna play him at. But I
feel more secure with the three guys inside because I
know all of them got they got they got grit,
they got toughness, and they mentally smart.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
So you you you got three of the of the
main ingredients. The guys outside.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
One has the heart of a lion, but the body
of I don't know what it is. The right guard,
right tager, has the heart of a lion. Here he
works hard. He probably over there working now. But when
you don't have it physically, you just don't. And I
right now, who knows the love tackle thinking? He don't
even know where he sits as a starter back up,

(29:21):
So we got to figure out who this guy is.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
So the middle, I think, is okay. I'm with you
with it. With the lineman, we gotta we gotta get some.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
But you can't go out every year and draft the
first round offense line unless he falls to you. If
he falls to you, you taking without a doubt, you know.
But veteran guy. They you know, I'm listening to the
NFL networking. They eating up these guys, They getting them. Man, everybody,
everybody's figuring out if you want to if you want

(29:52):
to win, you're gonna have to have something inside.

Speaker 5 (29:55):
Yeah, I mean, look at look at look at the
look at look at that Tar Hill who got the
job over US Chicago. Yeah, what are you doing with
that offensive line? He's going to secure that offensive line
because he knows if we're gonna be anything, it's gonna
start with the churnches first and then we'll build our
way out from there. Let's take our last break of
the day. When we come back, we'll talk more Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (32:50):
Little soft, a little softer. They couldn't couldn't make it
in because it's some sniffles.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
That that kind of bothered me because you know, the
football player kick it to be like, what come on, we.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Okay, cool blockchain I forgot y'all. I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
Blockchain is quick?

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Did you say blockchain dot com Okay, that's quick.

Speaker 5 (33:59):
They quick, they quick. They don't, they don't. They don't
require too much attention. All right, we talk a lot
about the offensive side. Yeah, one side. On the defense,
one player, I should say, on the defense, we're kind
of waiting for that domino to fall.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Now. I have been on.

Speaker 5 (34:18):
This platform and other platform is very critical of the
Cowboys for their inability to get contracts done before they
get to the end of their deal. Well, here we
are again with another contract, a major contract, not the
OSA deal, but a much more higher profile player is

(34:41):
coming to the end of his deal, and he wants
the monies, all of the moneies. And I know that
he may come out on his social media's and say,
I'm a team friendly. I'll take whatever it costs his agent. Ain'ight, No,
his agent is not. If you know who his agent
is when I say his name, you're gonna know the
he's gonna get all the all of the money they

(35:03):
wanted even more. Now, Yeah, Michael Parsons. But because the
Cowboys wait, things like what happened the other day are
allowed to happen, and it makes life a little bit
more difficult and I have bit more expensive while the

(35:23):
Cowboys are waiting and figuring out how to get this
deal done for Michael Parsons that will ultimately make him
the highest defensive player in NFL history, probably you know,
the second highest non quarterback contract. The raider said, hold
my beer, and they went and signed there all pro

(35:45):
pass rusher Max Crosby to a three year one hundred
and was it one hundred and six hundred whatever it mean?
Ninety one point five guaranteed? So you do the math
on that. I know that michae is somewhere, what is it?

Speaker 6 (36:03):
One hundred and six point one point five guaranteed?

Speaker 5 (36:07):
So we we we start looking at contracts. Ladies and gentlemen.
Look at the guaranteed money. You take the years and
the guaranteed money, and that's what you're working with. Michael
Parsons and David my little Getta is somewhere rubbing their
hands together like bird man, because not only does that
affect the Cowboys, that's a three year deal. That's a

(36:28):
three year deal, and we've we've known the Cowboys like
to flirt around sometimes that four year, five year territory. Now,
when you allow Max Crosby to come up and add
this money to the to the thing.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
Yeah when is that?

Speaker 4 (36:42):
What?

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Where? Where?

Speaker 5 (36:43):
Where?

Speaker 6 (36:44):
Where?

Speaker 5 (36:44):
What does that sit for? Michael Parsons date.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
You the man, You the man, homie. That's not like
it said.

Speaker 6 (36:53):
It helps him for sure, like you said, now he's
got the there's precedent's been said. Yeah, three years, I
want more than one hundred and sixty zero point five
million or whatever. I mean, It's like you said earlier.
The longer they weigh, the higher the price gets.

Speaker 5 (37:08):
And if they continue to wait, there is another player
who is waiting to possibly be traded, and if he's traded,
he also.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
Wants a new deal.

Speaker 5 (37:21):
Miles Garrett, another another premium pass rusher, that if he
gets traded, it's it's almost certain that it's gonna come
with him getting a new record setting deal. He's gonna
he's gonna look at this contract and go cool.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
I want that.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
I want a dollar more than that. Well, the Cowboys
continue to wait and wait and wait and wait, and
the dollar amount keeps going up and up and up
and up. Like this is the frustrating part that I
have with the Cowboys. What are you waiting on? Like
you knew you did? You want to sign like a
Parson last year. Did you want to was he gonna

(37:56):
be a part of your team last year? Was he
gonna be a part of your team at any point
time of this season and saying, Hey, we're gonna get
sign a deal, get the deal done.

Speaker 6 (38:05):
You know, if you're Parsons though, and are you in
a waiting game now to see, Oh, I'm gonna wait
till he's you know, till Garrett's signed so that I
can top him. And I mean, it's I hope they're
not playing that game.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
But you the man, baby, you the man rich man.

Speaker 5 (38:22):
What he is he's gonna be, He's gonna be a wealthy,
wealthy man very very shortly. And there's another guy on
this football team who I hope that the Cowboys are
looking around and saying, we're not gonna waste time with
this one, because actually, if you're gonna do Michael Parsons
this offseason, if I were running the team, which I'm not,

(38:47):
but if I was, I'm pulling Tyler Smith into the
office and before I let you go and go get
two more all pro seasons. And now you come back
to me and tell me at the end of your
deal that you want to be the highest paid Guarden Football.
I'm gonna bring you in right now. I'm gonna get
you a DALC. When we start talking about right now

(39:08):
that they're showing the Eagles Niners game on TV behind us,
when we start talking about how the Eagles are able
to do what they're able to do is because they
sign their guys early. They take that money, and then
they just kind of push that thing. You can say,
push it down, kick the can down the road, whatever
it is. And yes, one day they will have to

(39:30):
face the maker of these contracts. But the goal is
is that when I get to that point in time
and all these contracts come about. One if I get
to that point and the players that those contracts are
for are still really good players, you know what I do, Nate,
Those that are really good are still can play. No,

(39:53):
I put more years on it, and I give and
I extend them some more. I extend them some more.
Those that can't, we shake their hand and we say
we appreciate you being here. We wish we had fifty
three of you. Okay, Jason, Well tell them what Jason
told me. Wish we had fifty three of you. And
we let them go. And then you move on from there.

(40:14):
But in that meantime, you're relevant, you're competitive, and if
you're like Philadelphia, maybe go to a Super Bowl to
two win a super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
The two care fifteen years. I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
You know, they extend them down the road, but they
also have a good enough eye to say, hey, Slake,
we'll see you babe.

Speaker 7 (40:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
You know why it's been great.

Speaker 5 (40:37):
Because they drafted the first round corner and in Mitchell
and then Cooper de John. They said, well, I got
two other guys who are on rookie deals who are
playing just as good as you are better see ya. Yeah,
so I don't have to deal with that anymore.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
And that's and that's what I'm saying is we never
let it get to that. We we never.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Can see that future. So we can maybe uh go
to a dude to say, hey, my friend, love you.
This is the deal we're gonna offer you, take it
or leave it. I think they have open communication with
their players.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
I think they got good relationships with them, with their
with the agents where they can talk to them like
that straight up, hey man, this is what we're finish.
Do talk to your man, see if he with it.
I don't even think they go to the players and
try to because a lot of times when you go
to the player, as as management, you ain't getting the
true deal.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Player are gonna run, Player are gonna ride with you?

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Then player are gonna run back and tell agent like, man,
are you craw?

Speaker 1 (41:37):
Now? Let me call hey man, what did you just
You get what I'm saying? So you go straight to
the agents. Hey man, this is what we offered. Talk
to your boy. You know. See, you know, because the
agent may like the deal more than you. He may
not like the deal.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
So now that lets let you and him work it
out instead of it going the other way. And a
lot of times, you know when when when we say, hey,
management is meeting with Parsons and Jesse said it from
day one.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
Ah, that ain't gonna work. His agent man, Oh, this
ain't gonna work. Guess what. Now we're gonna circle back
round and guess what we're talking about now? His agent?

Speaker 5 (42:12):
Yeah, come on, man.

Speaker 6 (42:14):
Here's let me ask you this question. This is I'm
rolling through our YouTube chat here. We got some people
listening and Russell's asking why would they sign? Why would
the players sign early for less money?

Speaker 5 (42:27):
It's not signing for less money from a from a
management standpoint, I want to be able to give you
the guaranteed money today. I want you to get that
money right now. So when you sign ahead of time,
it eliminates the thought of I got to play under uh,
you know the conditions of if I get hurt, if

(42:47):
I have a bad season. Players want to get paid today.
So it's not giving him less money, but it's giving
him a deal. It's giving you a deal with guaranteed
money today. And now you are for sure know that
I am set for life right like I'm I'm set.
And for Micah's Micah situation, it was never going to

(43:08):
be less. But what happens is you let because a
team may look at a teammate one have more money
to expend, to spend on a different player, or look
at things differently than you do. So if they look
at that differently, and now they come in and they
set the market to reset the market, now you have
to pay that. So getting a three year deal for

(43:31):
ninety one million dollars that wasn't a conversation six months ago,
but it is now because the Raiders and that only
instance said we'll do it. Now they've set into motion
what that could look like.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (43:47):
Plus, I mean Crosby just signed this three deer deal,
three year deal earlier. Sorry, he'll now hit the market.

Speaker 5 (43:55):
Again earlier and players one.

Speaker 6 (43:57):
Yeah, he's going to get it instead of waiting another
year or two for his second contract verse third. In
this case, he'll get paid even bigger sooner.

Speaker 5 (44:06):
So for the Cowboys who want who I presume would
want that four year of five year deal, well to
do that, you're now gonna have to add more money
to it because this three year deal came about.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
So you remember a couple of weeks ago, maybe even
a couple of weeks ago, he was like the young
lion said, you know, I talked to mister Jones and
then he said, hey, now it's time for new leadership.

Speaker 1 (44:32):
Is this that?

Speaker 2 (44:33):
And let some niggative new guys take over? Man, tell
you some this seem this team is already young. It's
gonna get young. It's already young due to the injuries.
This team's gonna get.

Speaker 1 (44:50):
Young, man. I mean, and.

Speaker 2 (44:56):
Who can you get right now, Jesse, I'm asking one
of your questions, who can you get right now? The
free agency that's gonna just turn this team around. It's
gonna make us a ten to twelve win team right now,
right now with a seven to eight win maybe.

Speaker 1 (45:11):
So who's gonna get Who's gonna give us five more wins?
If we trade or trade whatever you can do, whoever
you want.

Speaker 5 (45:17):
Oh, I'll trade for Mars guard right, and he gonna
make us defensively, he gonna make you, he's gonna make
he gonna he gonna give you problems.

Speaker 1 (45:24):
Yeah, I know he's gonna get you. You got three wins, yeah, yeah, yeah,
he gon got three more wins. But yeah, easy, So
you're at nine easy, sixty.

Speaker 6 (45:32):
Nine bring it again. The second receiver or tackle and
a tackle that can play.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
And so now I'm going back to Steven had that wrong.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
We're not gonna be We're not selective, be selected, but
not aggressive.

Speaker 1 (45:48):
So who you gonna believe?

Speaker 2 (45:52):
I love to me, he's a great entertainer. He's to
me to use there. He's a great businessman, he's a
great promoter. He he's the second Barnam and Bailey Ringling brother.
He the best at it. And that's how I take it.
Until the season start, and I'm saying, which one of
these phrases he gonna take and run with the rest
of the year because he gives you about four or five.

Speaker 5 (46:14):
Yeah, all right, fellas, that's it for us right here, man,
sweet Yeah, we got we got it out that thing, man'
I don't play around. I get in it and I
get out of it. Out to the trailer parks. They't
know how I get out.

Speaker 7 (46:26):
Man.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
About the girl, I don't know about it.

Speaker 5 (46:30):
Parks around at Kurt for Nate, Chris Beam in the back,
I don't know. Josh back there is Josh back there?

Speaker 1 (46:37):
All right to Josh.

Speaker 5 (46:38):
What's up all y'all? Good people, man, into you the fans,
We thank you so much. Uh, that's it for us
until next week. Come back and hang out with us, man,
Bill Baby, hang with the boys.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
