Now.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
I went there like a couple of weeks ago. I
go in there and she's kind of like sitting in
the back and I walk in and she's like, hey,
mister Jesse. I'm like, hey girl. She was like, uh,
she's just like talking. She's just like what you get?
Speaker 3 (02:01):

Brownie's like, I'll give you a big drink too. The
whole meal.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
I didn't ask if you needed a brownie one of these?
Do you want a brownie? I want no Brownie, so
you cannot pay for this publicity right right.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
This is facts. I was.
Speaker 4 (02:30):

always me. Sometimes I'm not here. Sometimes they're not.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
What it is. Yes, it runs his life like a business.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
He gonna put that little bit of forty or fifty
dollars in the banket try to get up.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Get that eight.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
It's interesting.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
I learned from the best. I learned from the Joneses.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Baby off fifty nine. It sounds me to do.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Yeah, you gotta have money to make money. Absolutely, you
know if you if you've ever been around like mega
rich people that like generated their own wealth.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
They cheap.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Always they are cheap, and you're like, wait a minute,
you got five hundred million dollars, Like what why can't
you go spend you know, ten thousand on this. It's
like that's how they got their money. Like you don't
change habits of like when you generate your own money,
like you should probably still go to you know, you
get nicer things, but you don't splurge, like that's how
(04:02):
you hang on to that money. So all right, Kurt,
welcome back, Good to.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Be back, Good to see you.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
That's fine everybody.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah, I'm looking for the.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
Making up story.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
Tell everybody about the magazine.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
Yeah, magazine's out.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
I was reaching that this week on the on the.
Speaker 7 (04:21):
On the website Chop dot Dallas cowboys dot com got
all our ranking, scouting profiles stories.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
What is your favorite part of the magazine because there's
a lot of different stuff in there. Is it the
the articles? Is it the breakdowns? Is it the mock draft?
Speaker 7 (04:36):
Like I like the breakdowns because it helps me a
lot kind of learn. These guys and Kyle and Tommy
helped out this year. They put so much work into it.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
I got to oh, yeah, don't let me forget. Okay
for young Tommy, because I'm a yrshm yarsh Tommy, I
got socks for you. The draft is right around the corner.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
On day one.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
We dress up on all our shows, right, Nates, Right,
he got bad socks, Tommy. We're not gonna do this.
I finally got him to get out of there. I
finally got Tommy to get out of the whole sneakers
on with the suit. I've shamed him in public, shamed him.
But we can't go tube socks.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
We did what we can't? Yes?
Speaker 4 (05:20):
No, yes, yes?
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Did you get him colors?
Speaker 5 (05:24):
I did?
Speaker 4 (05:25):
I got him three colors. I got him three colors.
I got him black, a tan, and a gray. They're solid, right,
they're solid? Okay, so baby steps, Yes, yes, nothing crazy?
Speaker 3 (05:36):
What I wear? I got?
Speaker 8 (05:37):
No?
Speaker 7 (05:37):
No, no, no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
What is the dude that used to have a funny hair?
You usould talk funny? You know, just a little white
guy Comedia. He turned out to be a great kid.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
I can't think if I can think of work care,
just in general, just.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
In general, he's pee wee herman, tom Tommy, Tommy, you
can't have be pee wee harmon.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
In any ways, Yeah, anyways, don't I don't know see that.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Yeah yeah. I thought he was a great guy.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
So he just like to pull his privates in public.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
That's bad when you're not really.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Like that.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Tell me be like, oh he's like that.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Now I'm like nor like I want I want Tommy
to be dressed up nice because nice suit. Put some
hard bottles on. But got to get Tommy out of
the tubes.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Get out of the tube.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Soxtell by the way, Tommy the oldest looking and acting.
Speaker 9 (06:34):
Under twenty five, he's like When I met him, I
was like, oh he's he looks very professional, talks very professional,
and he's like twenty two or twenty three years old.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
I was the youngest rider they've ever hired him.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
I'm telling you, man, when you sometime when you're around timing,
he looked like he's he's at Walt Disney World with
the beauty shots on hard shoes.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, let me tell you all my can I tell
you all my pee wee herman story. It's g rated,
it's nothing freaky, so it's large.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Bar tell them large bars.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Cens My first first year doing social media, I just
moved over to Valley Ranch, and I went down to
training camp. You were there. You were at training camp,
and nobody knew what the hell they were doing on
social media. We were one of the first teams to
have a full time person do it. Nobody was and
(07:35):
I thought, you know, the cool, like we were trendsetters.
We were actually tweeting out photos of things happening at
training camp, and nobody knew anything about it, you know,
especially the family. They had no idea what social media
was and I barely did. And I was running the
department and I'm eating lunch one day. I don't remember
who I was with or where I was at, but
(07:58):
my picture pee wee Herman was at training camp. I
don't know if you remember it, and he took a
picture with the family, and I took a picture and
I tweeted it out. Well, it winds up on ESPN,
and like right after it winds up on ESPN, I
think Derek got a call or somebody. This one, I
(08:18):
was still sitting in the marketing department. Somebody got a
phone call. It was like, did you see that picture
on ESPN? And I was like, oh my god, I'm fired.
I've been doing this for two months and I am fired.
I did something I wasn't supposed to do, and it
was Jerry Junior and he was like, that's the greatest
thing ever. He goes, I don't think you know this,
(08:39):
but the family used to sit around and they would
eat cereal and they would watch Pee Wee's Playhouse to
all the kids, and that was their favorite show. So
when he showed up at you know, he got him
out of the basement of the Alamo. He walks down
the street and he's at training camp, and Jerry Junior
thought that was the And that was the first time
I think that anyone knew we even had a social
(09:01):
media department because they wound up on ESPN. But I
was so afraid that I got fired like two months
into the job. So that's my peep Harmon story. Kurt,
we talked a lot without you last week. We got
kind of stuck on George Pickens.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
We talk a lot, honestly, We've been honest. We talk
a lot when Kurt's present.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
True, you know what I mean, like this true I
told you.
Speaker 7 (09:24):
I told Chris I was gonna miss this last week
and he basically said, yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
In fact, you Natean you can all take off. Jesse's
got it. Jesse can handle it. So Kurt, we we
saved a lot of the question. By the way, we
saved a lot of your talking points because we kind
of got hung up on the Pickings deal around on that.
Speaker 7 (09:48):
So I put one note. I had a question about Pickens.
I almost didn't put it on there because you guys
did go into pretty deep. But the one thing that
kind of stood out to me was, I mean, Jerry
doesn't have a good relationship with the agent.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (10:02):
If he plays hard ball, if he goes to him
right now says we're going to tag, he's playing on
the tag?
Speaker 5 (10:07):
Just what leverage? Just Pickings?
Speaker 7 (10:09):
Have that?
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Oh, by the way, thanks for listening. When you're not
on the show, you probably on that. Thanks. Thanks, we
think so. But nice to know someone else. Yeah that
does he have any legs?
Speaker 5 (10:21):
I mean unless he fakes an injury or something, Well,
do you have it?
Speaker 8 (10:26):
You have it?
Speaker 7 (10:28):
Can you really get away with it? If he's standing
on the sideline throughout all training camp?
Speaker 4 (10:31):
I'll tell you from the wise man told me in
in a sports bar in Indianapolis. It was very close
to the situation. I just need to have one doctor
to say.
Speaker 7 (10:41):
So, yeah, okay, but now if he's if he's standing
out there during training camp, then he got hurt before
he got there.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
No, he just was up one day at training camp
and stepped off the bus.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
Off the curve, and now he's hurt. On Kapo, this
is ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
I mean, you're you're asking how right, like we still
play out last year?
Speaker 7 (11:01):
Right?
Speaker 4 (11:01):
We watched it play out last year where it was yeah,
but that was back.
Speaker 7 (11:06):
I would think that once the season started Michael would
have played. Maybe that wishful they.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Didn't find out.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
Maybe, but again it could get sometimes. Let me let
me preface by saying that I'll speak for Nate, for Shannon,
for Kurt, for Chris, for myself. We all want George
Pickens to be a part of this team. Yes, having
a conversation. Yes, we're just having a conversation. We all
want George picktts to be a part of it.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
I think we all want him to be a part
of the team now long term, sure, don't go do this,
but because he's not, let's got the conversation.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
Let's do it. But you just never know how the
behind it. I think last year is set a precedent
of the fact that we are no because nobody has
ever did that, Like, no one has ever seen there
in their prime, their franchise player. They got traded, one
of the top two or three players in the league
at that position get traded. That's unheard him.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
We saw it, but it was just in a different sport,
the same city, same city, difference six months before.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
And so it's up happening now is it's like the
it's like whoever whoever breaks the mold first, and now
all of a sudden it doesn't become this big shocking
thing that no one has ever seen before, and that
you can't do that, you can't do it. And so
that now that they've already done it, in the back
of my mind, I'm like, well, who say they can't
do it again?
Speaker 2 (12:26):
It and it kind of worked out, kind of like
it wasn't a disaster.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
It was like for who it worked out who seven
nine one wouldn't say it worked out well.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
I mean, but you it wasn't a disaster where you
got rid of him and then you got nothing in return.
You got Quinn Williams, right, you gotta you gotta.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Good player On the end.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
It wasn't the guy you got rid of, but it
wasn't like we're just getting rid of him to get
rid of him and we got turn picks, right.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Yeah, So you just never know how things may turn
behind the scenes. Because of as of last week we
talked about it, they still hadn't talked negotiations. They still
hadn't talked.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
So Cowboys tell him, you were not letting you in
camp until you sign.
Speaker 8 (13:14):
No.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Yes, technically they can tell them whatever they want to
tell them, but their thing is that we want you here,
we want you here. But I don't know, man, this
is one of those things where they're like, we need
to see more. Were not confident. We don't want to have,
you know, two forty million dollar receivers, thirty something million
(13:38):
dollar receivers, whatever it is out there now, it's it's
gonna be an interesting take and it'll get even more interesting.
It'll get extremely interesting if when we get to April
twenty third and one of those first round picks the
Cowboys have more specifically twenty because they've had they're talking
(13:59):
to which I think was like weird. But Omar Cooper Jr.
Receiver from Indiana thirty visit they've talked to some other
wide receivers.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
He was the only offensive player they brought in, right.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
So far brought off. So you know, like you think, well,
we got CD, we got George are you talking to that?
We got Ryan Filloyd? Why we why are we inviting them?
Why are we taking We only get thirty of them
in the spot right as much as we need elsewhere.
We got thirty of these things, and.
Speaker 10 (14:33):
You would think they're at least thinking this deal. He
may not in the event right right, because you also say, well,
their job is also to put together for the future,
and if that means Omar Cooper Junior. I'm not saying
that they will, but I'm just saying at twenty it
can get very interesting that they go offensive player because
of where the draft falls of them.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Speaking of the draft, first off, before we go to
break what you over here, just laughing about the whole
first segment, I just everything's fun.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
I just thought about Drackler, whoa god. I just thought
about Drackler because and the old movies, he couldn't hurt
you even at night. He couldn't hurt you if if
he knocked on your door and you didn't answer the door.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
He's not coming in.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
But if you answered the door, had the invite, man,
you had the invite him. Man, he was gonna get you.
And I'm thinking about thinking about George Uber that contract
to his agent.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
You let him in, he got you.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
So that's that's what I love about. But hey, Jesse,
you're doing you're doing a super job. Man, keeping us
a breast doing it.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Man, appreciate you, all right, we all like to be
kept abreast, So we will we will, we will breast
you about some draft ideas because this may be the
most this may be the most interesting draft since I've
been around the team in twenty years, just because of
all the scenarios and nobody really knows what in the
(16:05):
hell's gonna happen in the with the with the picks
before is like it could go so many different ways.
So let's let's talk a little bit about that when
we come back. Go on, hang up with the boys,
be right back.

Tito's Handmade Vodka is the reason Texas Vodka is even
a thing. Back in nineteen ninety seven, we opened Texas's
first and only legal distillery. We paved the way for knockoffs, copycats,
and wannabes ever since, Tito's is the original, the blueprint,
born and all raised everywhere, blissfully ignoring trends for decades,
and we're still the only Texas vodka really worth a
(18:06):
damn Distilled in bottle by Fifth Generation at Austin, Texas,
forty percent alcohol by volume saver responsibly.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Hanging with the bulls.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Well, welcome back to the second segment of Hanging with
the Boys. Brought you each and every show by blockchain
dot Com. Look, thank you blockchain dot com. All right,
draft stuff. A lot of talk about the Cowboys moving around,
packaging stuff, going up, possibly going back. What is your
what is your ideal scenario, Kurt? Since you have the
(18:57):
Draft magazine and you're up to speed on all things draft,
would you stay put? Would you go up? A lot
of talk about them trading with Kansas City or Cleveland
and going up and getting like a real difference maker
that you you know, it's all it's hit or miss.
But the further you go up the more the better
(19:18):
your odds are that you're going to get a real
solid playmaker, right, or would you consider possibly you know,
there's talk of maybe love falls to you and somebody
wants to really move up really bad and you get
a lot of collateral for it, Like what would be
your ideal scenario?
Speaker 7 (19:35):
I don't want them if they move up, I don't
want to go up very far, just because I don't
want to give up both round picks. You know, that
just seems like a lot. Plus you might have to
give up even another pick after that, and so I mean,
you better be real sure a guy is a star
are going to do that?
Speaker 2 (19:52):
If you could go up, who would you go up
and get? Well?
Speaker 7 (19:54):
I mean a couple of other higher state kids, you know,
they're all downs or sunny styles, Caleb Down and r
bel Reese. I don't know if you can get up
Reecee would be too costly correct styles maybe Downs maybe,
but still that's you just need so much. If you
or if you're going in with one, you know, third
(20:14):
round pick on day two. Now, I just think that
puts them in trouble. I wouldn't depending who's there on
the board. I have no problem with going back like now,
I don't want to drop out of the first or
you know, drop a bunch of slots of Man, if
you could pick up move back a little bit, pick
up a second round or something like that, man, I'm
all for that.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
More dry deal scenario be what what would you say
this would be perfect?
Speaker 7 (20:36):
Well, there's there's one option that Joseph Hoyd from Dallas
Morning News, which you're well acquainted with. Yeah, he had
an option that was like you'd get number six and
number thirty nine for number twelve and twenty. That's a
little steep. Maybe you're losing both those, but that would
be that would interest You would trade with Cleveland Cleveland, Yeah, yeah,
(20:58):
And then that you had mentioned.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
So you'd move up to six, Yeah, and you keep
two first rounders. You would just swap them. Is that
how that would work?
Speaker 4 (21:06):
No, you would, you would you would give your two
first rounders to move up to six, gotcha, and then
you would get their thirty.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
Nine second round And then he had another one it
was the twelfth overall in the third round pick you'd
give that up for pick number nine.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
So who's he got them taken? If they go to
six or nine, he.
Speaker 7 (21:26):
Has them taken styles with that first one if figures
up to six and taking downs or the laining whoever's
sitting there.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
With the second one?
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Okay, what right now? They got it first, they got
two first, what having a second? Nothing having the third.
Speaker 7 (21:45):
Late third ninety two tonty two. So not having that
and they say that you got you correct me. But
like the difference between twelve and you know, second round,
there isn't a huge huge difference, so you could probably
drop back some and still pick up similar talent.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Yeah, a lot of people have said in this draft
that they've called them the big six or whatever it
would have you like outside of those top name those
six names that you might hear, you know, that's the
RVL reach, the sunny styles, the Caleb Love excuse me,
Caleep downs, Jeremiah Love, I'm blanking on the other, the
(22:28):
other the other one. Outside of that everything else, like
some people will have like you know, I got eleven
or twelve first round grades for the first round and
he's saying like, this is a bad draft to have
multiple first round of course, but it's a great draft
if you have multiple second and third round picks, like
the value picks. There's much more guys, so you can
(22:50):
get at value in the second and third round, the
fourth round than you can in the first round.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
Of course, because that's the opposite, right, Yeah, yeah, so.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
It's like and so that's why I think some of
it is, you know, maybe keeping twelve and then that
twentieth pick, maybe something when they trade back, maybe try
to get you know, a couple more picks on Day two.
But for me, and I'm not the draft guru, I
do enough and watch enough and I read enough to
be competent to have the conversation with the big dogs
(23:21):
who do this on a daily There's nobody, I feel
outside of Reese, Rvil Reese worth giving up assets to
move up and get in the in the draft. And
you would have to go all the way up, because
I mean everybody is already pretty much Fernando Mendoz the
(23:43):
number one overall going to the Vegas Raiders, but not
many people have all Reese coming off that number two
overall pick. So you'd have to go all the way
up to two to get a guy like that. Now
there you have some that talk about there is going
to be a run on offensive line. When I say
a run, it's gonna be like maybe two offensive line
picked in a row. That then can push one of
these guys like Caleb Downs or Ruben Bain who depending
(24:07):
on who you're picking, where you're picking, some people still
have the measurement kind of obia phobia with the thirty
eighths arms right, he doesn't have the Tonald t Rex
arms and some may say, can't do it, can't do
it top ten with a guy who doesn't have the
measurements that meets our standards, so he may fall. The
other one is, you know, I heard Peter Scheger talk
(24:31):
about it like you know, we talked about like guys
like Derwin James and Kyle Hamilton. These guys were supposed
to be top ten picks, but people don't feel like
safety is always that up premium pick right a top
ten pick. So again you might see guys get picked.
You might see a guy of Cam Downs get picked
over because people just don't feel like a safety is
(24:53):
a premium top ten position. Caleb Downs maybe can fall
to you, Ruben Bain, maybe can fall to you if
Jeremiah Love falls to you. I'm out on a running back.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
I'm out.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
You trade back, I'm out if you could, I don't,
I don't. That's the only pick that we have. A
lot of people also talk about it was a name
that was hot and kind of tailed off a little
bit but starting to pick some steam up again. Is
the Keldric falk Uh pick at all burn or position,
defensive end edge, whatever you want to call him now,
(25:26):
defensive end, rush edge, whatever, whatever it is, the you know,
playing the four eye here and in the Christians Parker's defense.
So there's been a bunch of scenarios. I personally just
don't feel like I feel you stay pat at twelve
if if something comes falls to you, you nab it.
If you feel like there's something that you can kind of,
you know, move back with when you get to twelve
and do it. But you just need so much to
(25:50):
give up assets to move up to get a guy,
because even if you get the guy, I don't know
if you have enough help currently will that guy be
able to do all it is that you need him
to do for you? And that's you know that in
that high of a level. So I stay put. I
stay put at twelve or move back, I don't know about.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
And even even if you move up, it's still a crapshoot, right,
it's still fifty to fifty, you know, even sure things
are fifty to fifty. So it's like, why give it
up if it's the same. How do you feel about
the the measurables.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
On Bain, I don't care. He can play, you can play.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
If anybody knows about arm lengthd And I thought you,
I thought maybe you.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
I always felt I had short arms. I always played
against people taller, longer. You know, only one guy I
played against that was shorter was John Rowander. He in
the Hall of Fame, So I guess he had super
long arms. Huh.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
Really make that bigger difference to something? They they do?
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Some people do. Some people some people they ain't.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
They they ain't coming off of Like coach Parter of Sales,
he said, if you get enough of them, you assure
yourself to be fired in a few years. Yeah, he said,
if you get enough, bad man, he said, one on defense,
one on offense.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Like Jesse, you say I need one gadget player. I
don't need too. That's how you felt about guys we
missed on the vegeurables.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
I sit here and I laugh and I but I'm
always looking at history. I mean, last four or five years,
first and second round picks. What that is the Cowboys have?
They really impacted us with their drafting capabilities, started playing
games fellas, get the best possible player at twelve.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
Even if that means offense, Yeah, get the best.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
If I got twenty guys selling out on this one
guy and I got one of the higher ups to
Mithty Jones, Steven, mister Jones will saying I don't know,
but we can do this right here and get multiple players,
and this one guy that everybody's selling out on this
is our guy. Then we just pass on him because
we want to look fancy me get these multiple picks
(28:03):
in two years.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
And I'm like, man, come on, man, quit playing.
Speaker 7 (28:08):
You can't would love though, I mean running back. You
just signed Williams to multi year deal.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
I mean it is.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
It's a luxury to understand. The tight end is a
luxury to me with you on with you at running back.
But I'm a name position.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Just yes or no.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
If a tackle fall to you, yes or no, would
look at Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
You're looking at what you knowing what you got, you're
gonna take more than a look. I'm just being honest. Now,
defensive end, if it fall to you, what you're gonna do,
it's certain things that we need that are core foundational
things that you're gonna sit there and play a game.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
And we watched this guy go away, and.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Then we go to training camp and we go to
complaining about the same things over.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
And over and over. Well, we could have moved back
and got this, this, and this. Okay, you got them,
they ain't playing. They on the bench, and we got
one guy.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
See, one guy can't make you win a super Bowl,
but he can go along ways to.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Helping you get there.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
And if these guys fall to us, and we got
guys that are right there, and everybody is ready to go,
let's go.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
See. Believe it or not, we know that drafting is
not exact science. Okay, we heard you.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
But if we doubting on the first rounders and we
doubting on the second rounders, you think you're just gonna
find gold in this third and the fourth in the fifth,
you're gonna draft that great. If we've all if somebody
come to twelve and they can play get this guy.
(30:00):
If we go to twenty and everybody scattered, that's another story.
But what would you rather be sitting here next? You're saying, well,
we moved around and got a lot of players. Are
we saying, hey man, we got some players and they
impacted the team. Because I don't think we have two
(30:21):
or three players that's good enough right now to take
us anywhere. Even if we stay packed right now, we
ain't going nowhere. We need players, not nineteen players, but
two or three players, and we can at least be
in the playoffs. That's just what I believe. We two
or three players away. That's just what I believe from
(30:43):
being in the playoffs. That's what I believe. Don't go
out and get twenty five and we still talk in
the same game. Go out and get those two or
three guys is there.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Do you think in today's NFL anybody would take your
second first round for a legit defensive player.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
On draft Day?
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Could you trade that second round er for like, hey,
you got a great cornerbacker, you got an all star safety,
or you got maybe he's toward the end of his contract,
maybe he's on his second contract and you want to
move some money around when somebody negotiate with you for
a first round for a proven player that's got a
solid four or five year career left on him, or
is that too steep of a price.
Speaker 5 (31:30):
I would think they would somebody's going to listen to
you or.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Is that something nobody does, because to me, it'd be like.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
Yeah, if you start trading picks, I think you pick
some players usually kind of go like, well, give me
that player this year, I'll give you this draft pic
next year.
Speaker 8 (31:45):
Right.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
It's usually not straight up, right, I'm going to give
you this guy and give me your guy this year.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
But wouldn't you rather have somebody you you know, is
proven come out of That's.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
What I'm thinking. Go go draft somebody you think is
going to be great, and then use that second one
for somebody you know.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Is what's the hold up? You should have been? Did that?
Speaker 2 (32:03):
I agreed?
Speaker 4 (32:04):
We should have been agreed. That should have been That's
what I would have done.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Play don't wait till the last minute. But that's what
we do around here, is we wait till the last minute.
Or I was just wondering if there's a if there
is the way things go today, if there's a market
for that, if somebody would be willing to do that.
But I guess it's kind of like you say, it's
usually we'll do this, and then you get it's all
kind of betting on futures, right, So all right, let's
(32:28):
take our last break. When we come back, we'll let
Kurt pick where we go next on Hang with the Boys,
be back.

four to seven. By the way, the other day I
got gas and they had some kind of special Bino
and they had some kind of special I get fifty
cents a gallon off my next two phillips.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
Really at seven eleven, you need it.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
You need that. That's a lot crazy.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Jesse to be putting that in the bank, especially the
way gas prices are.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
Right geez, I'm telling you, I don't know what seven eleven.
I know we got our Wingstop. We love Wingstop, but
we also love seven eleven.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
We do.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
I don't know if they be selling those pizzas and
those seven eleven wings. I've never eaten either one of them.
Don't plan on them.
Speaker 5 (36:03):
You don't want to get a delivery here.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
Boy, they I've never been into seven eleven and someone's
not buying one of the two.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
It's got to be good, they do.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
I agree with you. They gotta be good. Like ain't
no fryer back there, no nothing. They just they popping
wings in the microwave and serving them up.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
And they got ketos there and it's cookies are good.
I've had the good, but I haven't eaten the other
they deliver. Now, Kurt, you can get seven eleven delivery, Yes.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Chris, work on that. Work on that, Chris.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
But wasn't hurt last week?
Speaker 2 (36:40):
All right, Kurt?
Speaker 3 (36:41):
Where you want to go to the last where he
just went on the second round?
Speaker 5 (36:46):
KNYE should in this affair conversation?
Speaker 4 (36:48):
Yeah that yeah, put that on Patreon or something. All fair.
Speaker 7 (36:54):
We were looking at talking about the recent second round
picks where that's you know, that's supposed to be a
long term starter for you, and here's where they picked
up and.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
These are the picks that you haven't gambled on, right.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
And so here's the thing, and this is why the
Cowboys currently sit in a situation where the team building
aspect of is is so bad and why you have
so many needs because normally, normally you want to be
able to solidly pencil in your first round picks of
being day one starters, major contributors. Your second round picks
(37:32):
are guys who are day one starters, major contributors, but
they're also supposed to be here through that first contract
and really be players, right and so now it gives
you room for player development, for growth and all that
kind of stuff that you can add small pieces to
the mix to help both to your you know, your
your overall roster, and then you're looking at your third
(37:53):
or fourth or fifth round picks, those like, if we
can find if we can find a rotational guy out
of those guys, special team guy out of those guys,
this is how you round about your roster. And then
anything past that six seven undrafted free agent guys, those
are those they're the true gamblers right there. If I
can find it, if I get one at a at
a round six seven and undrafted free agent, if I
(38:15):
could bring guys in to help develop time, if I
can get it if I can find a special teams
guy out of those mixed Now I'm cooking. But when
it's gotten the Cowboys in such major dodo when it
comes to roster building and having so many holes, is
(38:38):
what you're getting ready to read is that the second
round draft picks that they've had, how that has impacted
this team's ability to properly build a team, uh the
long way right, and having guys being here to second
contracts and so on and so forth, so that you
don't have so many needs. And so you can read
(38:59):
that all the first up as we know what those are, right,
and there's something there we're like, but it's these second
round and it's been historically baff with the Cowboys.
Speaker 7 (39:08):
Jerry's obviously still out on as a rock Houl.
Speaker 5 (39:10):
He now has a hip injury he's coming.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
Back from, but he changed his numbers so he's wearing
number six down so that maybe.
Speaker 7 (39:16):
Twenty fours Marshawn neland's kind of an outlier, YEP, unfortunate case.
Twenty twenty three Looke Scommaker. Is he going to get
a second contract? Twenty twenty two Sam Williams big injury.
He just got a one year sat chign do deal.
Twenty one it's Calvin Joseph.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
Would you say Nate Cavin Joseph?
Speaker 5 (39:38):
Twenty twenty was.
Speaker 7 (39:39):
Trevon Diggs who obviously had a good start but quit
didn't live up to the second contract. Quit twenty nineteen.
Connor McGovern no second contract, twenty eighteen Connor Williams not
here here he signed to seventeen Shouldobi a woozy A
sixteen Jalen Smith he had knee injury and it flashed,
(40:02):
uh fifteen Randy Gregory.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
So I mean that's that's ten years of drifts right there.
Speaker 7 (40:07):
Back to twenty fourteen to find the second round or
DeMarcus Lawrence, who really proved him.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
So you're thinking about because every one of these second
round picks, you're hoping, man, I got four to six
years with these guys, right, I got four to six years,
and then I because you're thinking about I got four
to six years. There I go get another guy here
if and all of these guys, most of them, not
all of them, but most of them has fizzled out
for the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
But there's no overlap.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
There's none.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
There's no overlap. There's none of these guys that have
been here. There's none of the guys you've been able
to really build off of, you know. And they all
may have had a season or a season.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
And a half, yeah, but great one season.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
Other than that, there has been And that's and that's
your roster building right there. That's the top part of
your roster, the heavy part of your roster where I
need these guys to be major contributors. I can't hope
that these guys become major contributors. Now I get you
in the first and second round. You gotta be a
player for me and a player for me for a while.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
And that's why when we spent the first segment saying,
did we take that twenty and move.
Speaker 4 (41:12):
Back and get a couple?
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Because we're not good at it.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
We're not good at that.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
And I'm saying to myself, that's why I'm laughing like
we every year and this is what Jesse does a
great job. And you asking the questions and posing the
proper question. And I'm sitting over here laughing like Nata.
I'm laughing like I'm trying to figure out who was
the second round pick that I can talk about today
(41:36):
to show that we should go do that.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
You know who y'all gotta think. Man, until we change
our ways and get.
Speaker 1 (41:49):
Ahead of the curve, if we continue to do the
things we say that we have failed at, when do
you get better? Jones said, Hey, man, no more red shirts.
We ain't going out and getting injured.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
Guys. Well, this guy at Tennessee, I'm not gonna call.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
His name that we kind of have to write because
do what you do, jess. Rob McCoy, Yeah, that guy,
he ran a four to three. Y'all know what four
threes do trip scouts. Yeah, I'm saying to myself, what
(42:33):
if this guy show up and then all of a
sudden we get in.
Speaker 3 (42:36):
Training camp my knee tender?
Speaker 4 (42:40):
Yeah, Gerrod McCoy, who had really great twenty twenty four tape.
You actually, anybody who covered the draft, they'll tell you
his twenty twenty four tape was phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (42:48):
And better than these guys, better than a lot of
these guys.
Speaker 4 (42:50):
Twenty twenty five tape problem was acl injury. Missed the
entire season twenty twenty five season last year, so there's
no twenty five tape of him. But he measured out
well and when he did his pro day, he ran
well and so it's has he been fully recovered from
the a cl Will there be any lingering knee problems?
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Do you want to find out?
Speaker 1 (43:17):
No? When Philadelphia will come? Do you want to find
out when Philadelphia?
Speaker 2 (43:21):
No? I don't want to find out.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Do you want to find out when the Ravens come?
Speaker 1 (43:24):
I mean not the Ravens, but when Washington come and
he double moves and comebacks and break across the middle?
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Do you really want to find out?
Speaker 2 (43:31):
No, Kurt Reidolf, the same thing you did for the
second round, for the first round the last.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
Don't do it. You'd be disappointed.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
Ten twelve years.
Speaker 7 (43:42):
Tyler Booker, who looks like the real duale Tyler Gyden
twenty four to twenty three. Miley Smith, which that whole
draft could.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
Be a lost cause you don't make excuses.
Speaker 7 (43:51):
Twenty two Tyler Smith, that's a good one. Twenty one Parsons,
twenty Lambs. So you had a pretty good stretch there.
Nineteen Tristan Hill had no first round or Tristan Hill
I was actually the second round. I'm sorry I missed
that one.
Speaker 3 (44:04):
Somebody who him and the coach bit in the room
in the hotel room.
Speaker 7 (44:08):
Yeah, that guy eighteen Lton vander Esch taker Charlton in seventeen.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
Zeke, Oh, he won't fast, but you know he got
he got a great power.
Speaker 7 (44:16):
Barron Jones fifteen, Zach Martin fort.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
So you've done pretty good in the first round up until.
Speaker 3 (44:24):
You missed a comp. You're first round definitely when you
know the date's point.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
Let's stay in the first round.
Speaker 3 (44:32):
We do pretty good whether we're picking hide and.
Speaker 1 (44:36):
When we pick well, we've been blessed to when a
guy falls to us, We've been blessed no matter what round,
when a guy falls to us, we've been blessed. CD
fail us, Dak everybody forget Dak fell to us. Whatever,
we've been blessed with somebody falling Martin, Zack Martin fail
(44:57):
to us. Well, we've been blessed with them falling.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
Stars as Brian fell twenty.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
Four Parsons failed to us.
Speaker 1 (45:05):
Okay, so when we've been blessed with the falling stars,
even though one fell away Green Bay, uh, he fall
we sent them.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
I guess with all this knowledge, my request would be,
don't take anybody that's got a history of being hurt.
And then if on draft day it comes up, exceptional
player only question is does he love football? Pass because
every guy that we've ever had a question like does
(45:38):
he love he got all the measurables, got this, you know,
is he does he love the game? Does a question
mark just passed? Doesn't matter how good he.
Speaker 4 (45:46):
Don't give me that For the guy who we got
a question does he love to get?
Speaker 2 (45:49):
Don't give me those. Don't give me a hurt guy
one of those guys, and just take the best. I'm
with Nate, after this conversation, let's stay in the first
Roe Haulds both picks and take the best player possible.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
If one fall to you that everybody passed on, and
he don't have all serious autophield issues because what I've
found out, And Jesse, I'll tell you you guys know
from working here, it ain't too many first rounds that
come in here that don't have it.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
So start with I'm saying serious issues, you know, beating
up folks. We don't want that man. Everything else, you know,
we can deal with that.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
Well, Chris, what's the deal? Next week, same same schedule, Yeah,
you're normal, normal, and then the two weeks two weeks okay,
so not next week, the next week. What we in
two weeks.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
You'll be fine, same as you usually are.
Speaker 3 (46:39):
You'll be the pregame show to the NFL Draft cover.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
When does the draft show start in two weeks?
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Gosh, like seven o'clock at night.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
Oh, y'all, don't go, y'all, don't go until the draft goes.
Speaker 3 (46:48):
Yeah, like an hour before the draft starts. We'll go.
All right.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
It has to do with the fan, So we're simoncas
on the fan, gotcha.
Speaker 4 (46:57):
So whenever they want to bring over, that's what happens.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
All right, it's tune in next week. We'll have new topics.
I'm sure this is cowboy world. There will be something
come up besides the draft within the next week, so
it will be good news. Good to have everybody back
in the same room. Nate, Kurt, Jesse, good seeing you fellas.
Speaker 3 (47:15):
Chris.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
Thanks for keeping us on the air.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
No rappers.
