Owner Jerry Jones has talked about spending more money in free agency and that he’d “borrow some of my future.” But with some contracts having already been restructured is reworking even more the right thing to do? Plus, would the Cowboys prefer George Pickens stay in Dallas, or get two potential first-round picks if he signs elsewhere? Sounds like maybe a win/win for the team ...

Speaker 7 (03:59):
Colors just a little bit off from Carolina.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
This is a little bit close.

Speaker 7 (04:02):
It looks like something they have on the sidelines, I think.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
And since we're giving visuals verbally, Nate has a T
I mean bright bright what's your shirt? Say?

Speaker 1 (04:13):
You love?

Speaker 5 (04:14):
I love n D c BF Connect Church with God
ministry others and what's the last lost?

Speaker 7 (04:21):

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (04:22):
Yeah's church kirts kind of zip up navy, but you
look good.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Nice.

Speaker 7 (04:31):
My shirt's not as tight as it normally is, Kurt,
What were we saying?

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Nate just enjoyed it. I'm enjoying this. I'm enjoying this.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
Man, Wow, Kurt, Kurt looks like one of the manning guys.

Speaker 8 (04:49):
Didn't paint as much as they were.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
I know, Eli, well, as you were walking into it,
we we realized that Nate finally actually read a rundown.
Not only did he send nice list, Kurt, he has
mentioned it two times off air, how good the list is.
And I was like, you finally had time. He was
in the studio by himself for ten minutes before anybody
got in here.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
He's had time to read one. Yeah, he participates in this.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
You want to elaborate on why this one's so good?
You said this was the top three of all.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Time, because when I looked over he.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
Presented questions that really sticks to what we have been
talking about over the years. Free agency, not drafting injured players,
that means a lot. What does this mean now that
why don't Perkins sign this? Non exclusive deal, so pickings,
you know, sign this non.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Exclusive deal stuff like that.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
Right there, that's hitting to me because if George is
who we think he is, somebody finished jump on that
the first day they get a chance, they finish, give
up them two first rounds and sign him for forty
MILLLI a year.

Speaker 8 (05:57):
I think.

Speaker 6 (05:57):
So I'm just saying, now, out let hold on last year,
remember on a six by seven, eight games, he was
Jared Rice.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Let's see.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
The thing that is very interesting about that that particular
tag is that those picks actually are negotiable.

Speaker 5 (06:17):
So everybody that doesn't know what's going on kind of
get the backstory of what's going on with.

Speaker 8 (06:23):
Well, they gave him a.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Franchi as none exclusive.

Speaker 8 (06:28):
Franchise, non exclusive. Yes, so other teams can be with him. Correct,
but if they signing and the Cowboys will get two
first round picks, so heavy heavy investment.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Yeah, the other team, yeah, you you would have to
sign them, give up the assets and as well as
sign them. But again, those picks can be negotiated. Now
when I say negotiated, first, we'll be in there now.
Whatever the second one is that can be is where
the negotiation will happen and then it all depends on

(07:00):
how much George picking is worth to you? Is it?

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (07:04):
But I also think this is a way for the
Cowboys to look up and say if and when they
have to pay him. The kind of this new market
set or higher than what it is is it's to
the point where we didn't reset the market. The league
reset the market, and so we just had to go
and follow suit or you know, stuff like that. So

(07:25):
they don't want to kind of they don't want their
hands to kind of get dirty with having to sign
this contract.

Speaker 8 (07:30):
But would you rather have the two picks?

Speaker 4 (07:36):
I mean you have a free pick that you gotten
a Mica deal. I was talking about the Cowboys.

Speaker 8 (07:46):
Yeah, the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
If the Cowboys ah man And people don't like when
I say this, because two things can be true. Do
I want George Pickens to be here?

Speaker 7 (07:59):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Yes, absolutely thinks he. I think George Pickings is a
tremendous talent. But again, even with that tremendous talent still
didn't get us to the playoffs. That's a tough pill
to swallow. And two, with these eyes, I witnessed this

(08:20):
offense be top three with CD and them. Now I'm
not saying, leave it at CD and them. But I'm
saying that with a healthy Dack CD and then you
go sign another player at a lesser deal, that is
a good number two. I've seen it. And that team

(08:41):
actually they won the Super Bowl, went to the playoffs. No no, no,
no no no no no no no.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
I'm saying, what's the kid Jigma.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Jackson Smith and them and.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Just went to the super Bowl?

Speaker 6 (08:54):
Yeah, and he ain't play most of the games, That's
what I'm saying.

Speaker 7 (08:58):
And them, how would they do the non exclusive part?

Speaker 8 (09:03):
Well, like he was saying, they went the league to
the set the market.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
So how does that and that's slightly less than the
other one as well.

Speaker 7 (09:09):
How does how does the non exclusive?

Speaker 4 (09:12):
So the non exclusive means that teams can come in
and if they want to negotiate a deal for George,
they can. Back in the day a couple of years ago,
when Dak was being franchised, his was exclusive, meaning no
one can talk to him. He is ours. It's either
he gonna play on this tag or he ain't playing

(09:33):
at all. There's no room for negotiation. And it was
the highest of the franchise tags as far as cost.
So this one the non exclusive is a little bit
less than the exclusive, and they get a chance. Teams
if they wanted to, I said that they have to.
But if they wanted to potentially negotiate a deal with
George Pickens, it is not against league rules for them

(09:56):
to talk to him, but it would cost you signing
him and compensation to the Cowboys. And the compensation is
from by rule, the first one of his two first
round picks, but also by rule those can be negotiating.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
So they could come in and even though the cap is,
let's just what's the cap at the cat the number
he's overall.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
Right now, twenty seven twenty seventh to Fresh Eye Tax franchise,
I say twenty seven some change.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
So they could come in and go, hey, we want
to talk to him, George. We want to give you
thirty five a year for four years.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
Cowboys.

Speaker 7 (10:30):
Here's a first and a fifth, and everybody's.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
On the verse second.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
If the Cowboys say yes, yes, or the Cowboys can
go no, thank you, we appreciate the all.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
So it's kind of like, what exactly what you're saying.
If I'm the Cowboys, I'm like, I'm good. If he's here,
I'll pay him this money, I'm already in on that,
but if a better deal comes along, I'm good there too, right.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
And that's the thing that I've tried to get people
to understand is the Cowboys are in the position where
George Pickings while is a great atha and I want
him here. I mean, I gotta keep prefacing that he's
not He's not good enough to where we're not answering
the phone. It's not like a quarterback. It's not like
it's Patrick Mahomes, And it's like, there's no there's no
offer that you can give me that you're realistically going

(11:14):
to give me that's worth Patrick Mahomes. So don't even call.
If you call and you say, hey, what about Patrick,
I'm gonna hanging up on you. George is at least okay, Yeah,
what you got?

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Mm hm.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
We appreciate the call, but no, thank you? Or can
we get a third?

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (11:34):
M Kim? Can we can I go from a fifth
to a third? Is that's the case? Call us back?

Speaker 5 (11:40):
Why do Why have they never done that before? Or
have they we just didn't know it with other players
the Cowboys, this is a new deal.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
No, No, they have a lot of people in the
room giving a lot of ideals. I think I think
somebody saying, hey, let's let's try it this. I'm not
saying missus Joan, the brains of this didn't say that.
Steven could have said it. Will could have said it.
You know, maybe even Todd was strong enough to stand

(12:08):
up and say, hey, let's try something different.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Uh, and just tell you something.

Speaker 6 (12:14):
Man, we knew, but didn't you know how this thing
shook down, that it could be this. You know, they
didn't sign him during the season. They didn't even make
no effort. They Missus Jones told everybody when they first
traded for him, Hey, he gonna have to play this
year and then we'll we'll we'll make a decision, you know.

(12:36):
So Uh, he's saying he's doing things new.

Speaker 7 (12:39):
I like it.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
See it's something different, and it's it's it feels.

Speaker 7 (12:43):
Like unlike every other time we've tagged somebody. It feels like.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
There's a playing stuff.

Speaker 7 (12:49):
You're you're in charge, like you, Hey, we know what
we're doing.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
We were doing this, but we're also listening to options,
not like you're stuck in this. One day, I say,
I we couldn't get a deal worked out, so we're
we're stuck with this guy for a year, and we'll
try to work through it in the off season. And
if we can't get it by training camp, he's just
playing here and he's probably pissed off and we're wish
we would have had.

Speaker 7 (13:09):
Along to now you have options. At least you're trying
things new.

Speaker 8 (13:12):
Is there any chance they would offer him more than CD?

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Yeah? And here's why, because here's how it's going to
be framed, and when you really look at it, right,
because yesterday's price is not today's price. When you really
look at it, they're going to say, oh, well, they
offer him more than CD. Well, remember CD got his
deal two years ago, so he's not technically offering him
more than CD. He's offering him what the market is today.

(13:40):
If CD was up today, no, he wouldn't get more
than CD. But CD's deal is two years old, right,
it'll be years it's two years old.

Speaker 7 (13:50):
Is what a four year deal?

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Yeah, but it's two years old.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
But it's two years old, right, So we're talking about
two salary caps ago. You know, we're up twenty two
million dollars and the salary catch three hundred and one
million dollars, So it's not technically giving him more than CD. Lamb,
it's now the market has shifted inflation basically, right, So
what was that price two years ago, it's not that

(14:15):
price today.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
And probably going yes, please pay him more because in
two more.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Years, match, I just keep going up exactly, so exactly
I get mine. But then when I'm up in two years, mister,
I'm gonna go, well, I never stopped being a good player.
He just so happened to have really one good year.
I check my record. I'm I'm listed in the top
three of all categories in the last five years and
touchdowns and catches and receiving yards and Pro Bowls and

(14:40):
all that kind of stuff. So in two years, when
CD's up for a new deal, he gonna go, Yeah,
that don't work for me, no more. I'm above that now.
So it's not technically he's paying or they're offer him
more than CD. It's just that is what the current
market is for a receiver. Now, well, he the question
is will he get more than you know, Jackson Smith

(15:03):
and Jigbow or where he surpassed, you know, kind of
that forty million dollar mark. Now that's what really becomes
because now you're talking about paying him as the absolute best.
That's the difference paying him at the absolute best market.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Is see and I'm agree with you. You can be
like I said from last year. You can be all
emotional all you want.

Speaker 6 (15:23):

I think this is interesting.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Can I put a bowl on the George picking You can?

Speaker 1 (18:58):
You can?

Speaker 4 (18:59):
Oh, And I got super busy last week. That's why
I didn't call it from Indy last week.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
But we weren't going to answer the call anyway because
Nate Nate. Finally the whole story and go ahead, and
to your.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
Point, So, George Pickens and and this franchise situation, we've
we've we've lived through it through multiple players here with
the Cowboys, right, big time players in this and some
of you may not know, I know Chris knows and
those who've been around with like, Indy is a very
unique place because everybody's there, all all the all the

(19:36):
power brokers are there. You're talking about all the position coaches,
all the front office people, the head coaches, the coordinators
and everybody.

Speaker 5 (19:43):
And it's not a big city where everybody afterwards goes
to the same places as.

Speaker 4 (19:49):
Well as the agents.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Yes, and.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
I know Bill Parcell said nothing good happens after midnight.

Speaker 7 (19:58):
It all happens after midnight night.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Nothing is happening until in Indy, and so tweets come
out of I did. And so one of the nights.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
And the bars and restaurants don't close it two o'clock
during the combat.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Depending on who you are, they stay up and longer,
and and so you you never know who's going. You
can walk into the random, the most random dive bar.
And I'll just say this, We walked by one rundown
dive bar with a big window in the front just

(20:33):
so happened to peek in some people that are Cowboys
officials and some people who were Cowboys officials just shitting
in there, shooting the breeze, having a brew. But one
particular night we went to this one spot called Tom's
Watch Bars, a sports bar downtown Indy, and the most

(20:55):
powerful NFL agent is in there, and uh, it's it's
it's it was a sight. It was a sight to see.
And during the time that we were there, they set
us literally right in front of him. And so over time,
after he got done dealing with his dealings and all
that he had to deal with, he stopped down and
gave me, in a couple of my compadres about a

(21:17):
good five to seven minute conversation. And I'll just say
this when it pertains to George Pickens and the franchise tag.
For those that believe that George will play on the tag,
buckle up.

Speaker 6 (21:39):
But now didn't we didn't you didn't we know this
before this.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
I'm just telling you, but you got I'm just telling you.
So what you're saying is we get just tied it
not I'm just telling you buckle up.

Speaker 5 (21:57):
You just say, don't be surprised if it's seen in
them in camp.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Unkle up. That's all.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
Brian Flornoy number two.

Speaker 6 (22:07):
I tried to tell him up. So Isaiah he mad.
I'm just saying throwing the ball, he's gonna get mad. Yeah,
that was gonna get mad. Franchise tag and I told
him last year at gonna make this kid mad.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
All I'm saying is is just that this that's what
it will make. It will make them tell yeah, it
will make for interesting and and it's this is like
again stumbled upon this where you hang out with Claires.
You learned and there's another note. Look there's another note.
There's another note in there. If we get to it,
that's that's tied to Clarence. That is absolutely hilarious. So

(22:47):
maybe we'll get to maybe we'll go ahead.

Speaker 7 (22:49):
No, that's good, that's good stuff. Uh.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
Kurt's point of the Cowboys restructuring Dak, c D and
Tyler Smith, but there's still only ten million under the cap,
so they've got to restructure some more to sign any
free agents. Kurt's point was, are we worried about them
mortgaging their future?

Speaker 7 (23:09):
To me, it's been so long since they've.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
Done anything, and the way you're built offensively, I don't care,
So let me go mortgage it.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
So let me put a little bit of a kind
of context of this as well. Don't look at who
there who they're restructuring, peak at who they're not restructuring.
That's that's where the that's where the devil and the
details are. We knew Dak, we knew CD. We knew
that was already a given. That was Leugh Guard. Yeah,

(23:40):
that was Tyler Smith, that was already that was happening.
And for the mans that don't know, none of them
had to say so in it, it was happening regardless.
They knew that when they signed their deals, whenever they
signed another, that was gonna happen. But I want you
to look at the players because they still need to
get some more money. When this thing all boils down,
there're gonna be a couple of players who they could

(24:04):
because here's the thing. Most of the time you restructured
deals on players you plan on being here because all
you're pushing the money down, down down the road, right,
that's what you're doing. So restructuring is just taking that
some of the new some of the current money and
pushing it down the road. And most likely they do

(24:25):
that to players who they expect to be here down
the road.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
It's like refinancing your car, right, correct, you had three
years to it, but you're still gonna be driving that car.

Speaker 4 (24:35):
But just take when this is all said and done,
the players who have very very restructurable contracts that they
don't restructure thinking some of them might get cut, I'm
telling you that the future, their future is not bright
for them here.

Speaker 8 (24:50):
Like Kenny Clark, Terrence Steele, who in.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
There, Ferguson.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
But you just call the names.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
I'm just saying that there's a couple of players. There's
a couple of guys who will have very very re
easy restructurable deals that if they don't at the end
of this those guys that are looking at in the future, just.

Speaker 5 (25:14):
For reference, we're not we're not insinuating any of these
guys are not going to be here, but just for reference,
list off to find the top ten by year on
the Cowboys roster.

Speaker 8 (25:26):
How much cap hit this year? Prescott's one pickings to
Quinnin Williams three, Kenny Clark four, five, Lamb six, Steal seven,
Land eight, Ferguson nine, and Tyler Smith ten. You know,

(25:47):
although you want to know who's the ninth highest cap
hit this year, Zack Martin.

Speaker 7 (25:55):
Cut him cut that Can we advance them?

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Yeah, but there's a couple of names on that list
who contracts that they don't restructure look to be maybe
a future cap casualty.

Speaker 5 (26:10):
All right, interesting, back to the question, what do you
think about them mortgage in their future?

Speaker 4 (26:17):
My thing is home to the NFL. Now finally my
thing is and.

Speaker 6 (26:23):
I noticed may get me a calls at the office,
But what future are you talking about?

Speaker 7 (26:27):
That's my point, right do it? It ain't worked the
other way.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
Let's try what this is how most teams operate. Like
most teams operate in the sense of you would say
to yourself, you wouldn't say that Saquon Barkley and Kenneth
Murray are the same as far as player, okay, but
as base salary was close to that because that's how
they that's how they like. That's you push the money

(26:55):
down the road and you you hope that in that
timeframe that you're able to hoist a Lombardi. That's the
way the football is played in the twenty first century.
The Cowboys are just now finding their way to it.

Speaker 6 (27:08):
Yeah, I'm going to answer your question. The number five
the cap over the years broke down free agency spending.
From twenty twenty twenty to twenty twenty five, Dallas ranked
last for fifty five million totals spent. That's twenty million
less than the next closest team. Dallas also ranked last

(27:29):
and money spent per player at three point four million.

Speaker 7 (27:34):
Come on, man over the cap called it absurd.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
Yeah, last year it was twenty fifth.

Speaker 6 (27:39):
So I'm saying again, y'all forgive me up there what future?
I mean, It's not like Kansas City who put all
they eggs in a basket and sold out. It's not
like Seattle sold out. My teams that sold out. It's

(28:01):
not like four years ago to Rams sold out? When
that When is the last time that Dallas Cowboys has
sold out?

Speaker 7 (28:12):
Not since I've been around twenty plus years.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
They sold out when I was there, tried.

Speaker 5 (28:19):
Yeah, that's the last time, right, Dion, Dean and Charles,
Yeah they sold out.

Speaker 7 (28:27):
Bro worked too, it did.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
All right, Let's take another break. When we come back,
we'll see if we can get to the rest of.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
The Kirk's lists. This elf Man top three.

Speaker 6 (31:10):
You know why they moved removed the chairs. I talked
to Chris about why they were moved to chairs.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
Wow, we're gonna have us.

Speaker 6 (31:15):
The one time that we was on without you, just
this dude just remember what he kept doing.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
With his legs.

Speaker 8 (31:22):
Thank you for doing that.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Yeah, And they were moved the chairs and y'all I
got the dust back.

Speaker 6 (31:28):
What we'll tell y'all man, Yeah, Yeah, I had to
be reprimanded him through two three times.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Stop that Shannon.

Speaker 7 (31:35):
They got on Timmy.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
So all right, back to Kurt's top three all time lists.
We talked about this a little bit on last week.
Aubrey's asking for ten million dollars. Bucker is currently the
highest paid kicker at six point four million. Is Aubrey
and his agent crazy or is this just a negotiating
tactic where you start at ten, you'll really take six

(32:00):
point five or seven and you're just being absurd hoping
you can meet in the middle. Or does he really
think he's gonna get that?

Speaker 4 (32:07):
So the ten mili is false? Okay, he never asked
for that. That was that was something that was put
out there, and I told you I had a funny
story about that. So when this story broke, it broke
right as we got to Indy, And one of the
first people that broke this story was Calvin Watkins. What

(32:29):
is Calvin Dallas Morning News, Callifornia News, and this is
a this is a this is a p s A
to all of my Caucasian brothers and sisters. Not all
black people look the same. Because we're coming out of Isaiah,

(32:49):
We're coming.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
There.

Speaker 4 (32:53):
You go, there, you go. You just ruined our friendship.
But I'm walking out as that that story had broken,
you know, and then you it was literally in an
instant fan base went from we love we love butter
Aubrey to Tien Mill get this joke out of here,
and it turned fast. They began to hate him. His

(33:14):
old lady came out on the internet and says something.
He came out on the internet and said something. Later
on in that week, Calvin Watkins had to put out
a video retracting the story and saying that the misinformation
and YadA, YadA, YadA. But not before I am walking
out of the media area upstairs in the convention center

(33:38):
with Clarence Hill and walking down the hallway. Is so
now Todd France and Tyler Smith's agent all they all
work under the umbrella of athletes. First David Moulla getting
all them right, Todd Franz whose Dack's agent is also
Auber's agent. Tyler smith agent is a different agent, but

(34:01):
again all under the same umbrella. So we're walking out,
headed back to Radio Row in Indy and up up
walking Todd France and todders Smith agent. I forget his name,
his name is get away from me. And so Clarence
goes to stop them, just to kind of, you know,
when you see your agents, you kind of walk by

(34:22):
and Todd France went to cussing Clarence out. Wow, that's
that's fed up what you wrote. So Claires is looking
at them like no, now, He's like, no, you could
have checked in, you could have checked with me. No, no, no,
He's like spazing, but he's doing it. And if you
know Todd friend, Todd Frand is not a big human being.

(34:44):
So it's this little white man and he is spazing
on Clarence as he's walking away, and he has like
his headphone one headphone in and cussing him out on it.
And the whole time Clarence is standing there trying to say, I,
I think you have the wrong guy, because I didn't
report that Calvin reported that that wasn't But Todd didn't

(35:09):
want to see that. Todd he was he had he
he saw black reporters I knew from Dallas, and he
thought Clarence was Calvin and Calvin was Clarence, and he
whatever was supposed to go to Calvin with the Clarence
and I was on the floor. Could you ever seen
someone get cussed out and don't have a chance to

(35:29):
respond and they're not guilty of the thing they'd been
cussed out for And it's left standing there like, what
the heck just happened? That's what I witnessed. It was
the funniest thing ever. And I couldn't and like ever.

Speaker 6 (35:44):
Get a chance anytime after that. I mean, after they
walked away, did he call somebody?

Speaker 4 (35:48):
And I don't know, I don't know, but shortly after
he shot, he just totally.

Speaker 7 (35:52):
Because he's like because I can imagine Clarence's face.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Like he's literally standing there like this, mom, don't even
know what I'm not. He got the wrong guy, you know,
he got the wrong guy whole time, had the wrong guy.
Then later on Calvin pushed the video out clarifying what
his mistakes and and all of that. The kind of
sun of the water is about what were the differences?

(36:17):
What do you mean?

Speaker 8 (36:18):
The report was that was ten millions, Yeah, and they've
never said how much.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
They never said how much. But then the Joneses did
say that we offered him the richest contract for a kicker.
So that's a little bit less than what is it
seven million with six six yeah, so a little less to
seven millions.

Speaker 7 (36:35):
Nobody's saying numbers.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
Nobody's saying numbers, but they are saying we offered him
Aubrey's campus, saying, we never asked for ten. Don't know
where this ten came from. That that was a made
up number. So that's what Calvin got the misinformation somehow,
some way, the ten million is not a number that
they asked for. They did ask for a number of
being the highest paid kicker in NFL history, and the

(37:00):
Cowboys are saying, and I think that's where the impasse
is at of what they actually ask for. Todd France
and company with the Cowboys were giving both would make
him the highest paid kicker in NFL history, but the
numbers what they're asking for is off. But ten million
is not not the number, not that they asked.

Speaker 7 (37:19):
Okay, all right, so we can just kick that point out.
That's good insight.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Thoughous that's a great story with the Actually it was
so funny.

Speaker 7 (37:28):
You could just.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Sa he's walking back with me cussing and fussing about
how he just got cussing, fuss not like why you
should have read that, you should have ran him down.
It was so funny. It was so funny. Man, But
Todd France was hot, but he had the wrong guy,
wrong guy, wrong guy, wrong black beat reporter for the Cowboys,
right right color, wrong.

Speaker 7 (37:52):
Guy, wrong guy, and don't even really look alike.

Speaker 6 (37:55):
All he saw was black and he looked, he saw black,
and he said that jes too big.

Speaker 5 (38:01):
So I'm this guy from Dallas, Ima and I would
have like, oh, we gotta talk first, and you can't
just walk off the way he was fussed. It might
have been one of those things where he was so mad.
He was like, I know you the wrong guy, but
I'm gonna.

Speaker 7 (38:16):
Give it to you.

Speaker 4 (38:16):
So you go give it to the right guy.

Speaker 7 (38:18):
And he knows how.

Speaker 4 (38:19):
Pissed off because a lot of time, like in those
in those atmospheres, you'll see you'll see Clarence and Calvin
together a lot there out there. You know, they stand
next to each other. Calvin is first, Like in the
anytime you see a Jerry, anytime you see a Cowboys
press conference of any sort, it's Calvin's Clarence. Like Calvin
has the first question, Clarence had the second question. So
like there, if you if you're if you're upset, I

(38:42):
can see how, I can see how the mistake happened
or it shouldn't happen. But I mean I've even slip
up every now and again, have called Clarence Calvin and
Calvin Clarence and I work with yeah, and so they
shape the same, the old you know him in the hallway.

(39:05):
I was shocked at first, and then I realized, oh,
he has the wrong guy, and that's when it became
abundantly funny. And Clarence he just kept like it was
a it was a drive by cussing because he was
he never stopped, like, he never stopped and like gave
him his full attention, like he was like, no, man,
that's not what you and he's like, but he's doing
it as he's walking away from Claire, and Clarience's just

(39:27):
like hold on, Like he looks back at me, and
I'm on the floor crying, laughing.

Speaker 7 (39:37):
Good story, Yeah, great story.

Speaker 5 (39:40):
A couple more questions, a couple more points before we
get to the end of the show. This one, Jesse
and Nate. I'm sure you guys love when you heard this.
Mister Jones said no red shirts in the draft, which
you guys have been preaching for what six years? All
the number two, the number twos that were number two

(40:02):
that we've taken over the years, So you think that's
is there gonna be a guy there. That's like I know,
I mean, he's a projected number one until he twisted
that ankle.

Speaker 4 (40:14):
I mean, the one guy and I'm waiting to see
him perform is Jermond McCoy, the defensive back out of Tennessee,
and he toured a cl not this past football season,
the past football season, but he didn't play all of
this year. He came out during the time in Indian

(40:35):
said that he was he tried to get back on
the field towards the end of the year at Tennessee,
but for whatever reason he was cleared to play, but
they didn't play him. So but it didn't look good
that at the combine he didn't work out and it
was still saying like he still wanted to get a
little bit more healthier. That doesn't That didn't look That
didn't sit well with a lot of different people. So

(40:57):
he's gonna wait to perform at his pro day. So
that might and a lot of depending on what mocks
you look at and who you know, whether it's I
don't want Dane or Jeremiah whoever do the different mocks.
Some people have mocked Jermald McCoy to the Cowboys. Now
I'm hoping that's barring seeing him perform on the field.

(41:20):
And he's one hundred percent healthy because he is a
year removed. He's a year removed. Last year he spent
the entire year not playing. It seems seems so a
little bit. He's a year removed.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
But his twenty man said, no, I'm just stop. Stop.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
The experts say that his twenty four tape, his tape
in twenty twenty four is better than anyone's tape in
twenty twenty five. So healthy, he would have been the
number one corner in this draft. So I'm just that
that's one name that there is a quote unquote red

(42:00):
shirt type of situation. I don't think he's gonna be
ready shirt. I don't think I mean you think he
would play right, you play right away? Yeah, this isn't
like a but it's just the rebel type thing.

Speaker 7 (42:08):
Where he unknown right.

Speaker 1 (42:09):
Yeah see see see there we go, y'all. That's what
the star do, That's what that's what we do here
at the start.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
I'm just trying to give you context now.

Speaker 1 (42:22):
No, no, we don't need that. Please don't.

Speaker 6 (42:25):
Because somebody, man, did you see Jessee on hanging with
the boy Jesse, that boy ready.

Speaker 1 (42:30):
All of a sudden, we were picking up with the twelfth.

Speaker 6 (42:32):
Pick, Like, wow, really, I said, then he get here
and tweet tweet the knee.

Speaker 7 (42:38):
Well you know he won't.

Speaker 1 (42:39):
He won't be ready for training camp.

Speaker 4 (42:41):
That's why I said, barring any setbacks when we have
to see him perform. Didn't do it to combine. He'll
do that his pro day.

Speaker 6 (42:49):
Get him on his second contract, Please on the second contract.

Speaker 4 (42:54):
And they're saying this, this is a guy who performs well,
looks fluid and agile. They're just saying, man, I come
to fullishing. But do you have some mocks that have
said the NFL was funny to the Cowboys.

Speaker 6 (43:07):
They telling that he's telling his kid bane he a
dwarf him man, Yeah, he'll t rex and you don't
get him all he and now, but we gotta do that.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
That ain't playing the whole year. Hey, but his twenty
fourth field with betting the twenty five.

Speaker 6 (43:24):
No, no, come on, fellas, no no no, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 5 (43:28):
All right, stay away from him. The Cowboys place the
second round tender on TJ. Bass but reportedly or letting
Hoffman become an unrestricted free agent.

Speaker 7 (43:38):
You got surprised by that.

Speaker 4 (43:41):
We we grabber.

Speaker 7 (43:44):
Hm, that's all you have to say about that elaborate No.

Speaker 4 (43:50):
Remember he was on the ground and grab the do
joint in the game.

Speaker 1 (43:54):
All right, all I know is this right here, bronh
who gonna play behind bands?

Speaker 8 (44:04):
Who? Who? And be a center?

Speaker 6 (44:07):
We need some depth man. And another thing I didn't
bring this up. If if George leaves up out of here,
you better get it. You better get offense lineman that
can play, because with George and CD that get that
did that did give Dak's easier reads to be able
to get rid of that ball quicker. If you get

(44:29):
rid of one of the receivers that are turned into
a them, you better get off alb use some extra time.

Speaker 1 (44:36):
Yeah, so hey man.

Speaker 5 (44:38):
All right, And the last two points we'll get to
real quick. One is sounds like Clowney was maybe your
best pass rusher last year and he may not fit
into this defense.

Speaker 7 (44:50):
Is that what we're here now?

Speaker 1 (44:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (44:52):
It sounds like they want more speed on these outside
lamdbackers in the three four and they don't feel like
he can drop into coverage or this and that. But
at the same time, don't you need a good rotational
pass rusher. I don't know.

Speaker 7 (45:07):
What do you guys think about that?

Speaker 6 (45:09):
At the right price, yes, sir, he can be that
extra man. At the right price, I mean at the
very right price.

Speaker 8 (45:16):
You know.

Speaker 6 (45:16):
Let him go back and sit on the bench. I
mean sit at the crib for a couple of weeks
doing training camp. But then say, hey, you know, somebody
offer him something that what we offered him.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
Get him back.

Speaker 6 (45:27):
If not, nah, I ain't changing that.

Speaker 5 (45:32):
All right, Well, time to go fellas. Y'all look great today.

Speaker 6 (45:38):
I mean I was excited by jess Man had seen
him in the Why that he broke down his tennis
I'm just trying to give a little bit of context, man,
That's that's all they asked me to do.

Speaker 11 (45:52):
That.

Speaker 5 (45:53):
Good to have you back, Jesse, Sir, love the love
the pull over your color on you.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
Listen you, We love you, baby, Nate, love the shirt.

Speaker 5 (46:03):
Yes, sir, I do energy today, Yes, sir, of the energy. Chris,
thanks for keeping us on the air. Tell the big
guy back there, thanks for keeping your company. No cookies
for him today. We will be back inside joke. We
will be back next Thursday. Oh next free agencies next Wednesday.
Huh hoefull Let's have something talk about.

Speaker 7 (46:23):
Let's have something to talk about. Yes, let's do it.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
Tune in Legal Tamper.

Speaker 7 (46:28):
Who's the first show after a free agency? Chris? Is
there any shows next Wednesday? Afternoon?

Speaker 1 (46:33):
Well, Monday is the Tampa.

Speaker 5 (46:36):
We'll start knowing so and then Wednesday we will find
out Wednesday at noon?

Speaker 4 (46:44):
Is that what it is?

Speaker 8 (46:45):
So the.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
Most Cowboys?

Speaker 7 (46:48):
Oh, all right, will be the first show after that.

Speaker 4 (46:51):
Happy birthday? Come up, boy, Michael Irvan, Mike, what's up? Birthday?

Speaker 1 (46:57):
Birthday? You and Nick eat next birthday to day Monday?

Speaker 4 (47:02):
On Monday.

Speaker 1 (47:03):
You think they could have hung on it?

Speaker 4 (47:05):
Not a chance, Not a chance. Nick would have been
like what what? What? What? Wait? What do what?

Speaker 1 (47:13):
