to that, the Cowboys also have two stints. Usually only

will have two stints this season where they played three
games in eleven days.

the travelers wear and tear is a lot less than

have been those nights might have been a little bit

chuckle when I hear owners and NFL personnel talk about

player safety. Right, they want to add an extra game, uh,
they said about twenty twenty seven or twenty twenty eight.
They want to have ten ten international games. Yeah, they
want to be able to get an international game on.

Every single week. See getting fat in it.

You know what they say about that slaughter. The Cowboys
eventually will probably have an international team that players teams
are rotating to going to play those that team. But
the when people ask me about what does it feel
like to play football, and you can attest to this,

especially somebody who's in the trenches, who hits every single.

Down, like from the physical side, from the.

Physical side of it. Like I always tell people, if
you've ever been in a minor fender bender, right, if
you've ever been in a minor fender bender, maybe got
some whiplash, maybe you know, maybe some bruised ribs or
something like that. Now take a minor fender bender twenty
twenty five miles an hour that you kind of you know,
somebody made t bone. You'll you know, rear end you

or whatever. Now, if you went to the doctor, the
regular civilian human being went to the doctor after having
a fender bender, the doctor would tell you no physical
activities for three to four weeks. Well you know what
I'm saying, Like, we'll check back, we'll give you medication. Yeah,
you know, no no physical activities for three weeks, and

then we'll check up on you again. Forty seconds, forty
seconds I go from a fender bender, I got forty
seconds to line back up again and getting another one
and getting another one. And that's from like think about
Nate three hundred pounds worth, three hundred pounds, and you
know he's pulling around edge, or he's weighing blocking, or

you know, he's kicking somebody three hundred pounds worth, three
hundred pounds colliding for sixty five plays.

With plastic hard plastic all over your body.

And the person away from you is has I have
ill intentions? You have ill intentions? And now our ill
intentions meet at maximum speed at times. And I came
up in an error. Nate played in an era where
it ain't like it is now. You didn't get flagged
for kind of just ooh, you touched them a little

bit too rough. There was segments on TV that was
called jacked up where they highlighted someone getting their head
knocked off and you had forty seconds to recover and
do it again. And now, so when you tell me
about the wear and tear, and I have to do
this three games in eleven business days, eleven regular calendar

What do you mean there's two of those? Right?

Yeah, to do it twice, so six games in twenty
two days total. Is there's no way you care about
my body. It's impossible. It's impossible to line guys up
and think that's player safety.

And you know, an amazing thing about it just great point.
But the players don't care either. Just keep the money.

Yeah, when you're in it. When you're in it, you're
gonna do what this is why? This is why? You
know you always one of the things I laughed about
when it came to remember back when it was like
COVID and everybody had feel how you feel about COVID.
And I'm not telling you about the vaccines and all
that kind of stuff, but I always was. I was

always amused when you had NFL players that was like,
I'm not taking the jab because who knows what's in it?
And I'm like, you know how many locker rooms I've
been in with I haven't seen guys walking there with
they butt cheek out and then said, doc, get me
the Sunday that shoot it up. Didn't once what was
in it, didn't didn't know what was in it, didn't

care what was in it. Because tony point, can I
get on the field, what do I have? What do
I have to ingest or what do you have back
there in that cabinet that you can put in the
syringe in the needle and inject it into me so
that I can go out there and play semi pain free.
To go add more pain to my body every single

You know what so funny is? And uh you young,
you strong. You get a little older, about four or
five years in all of a sudden you start feeling
it and the recovery is a little bit taking a
little bit longer.

get a routine.

You get your deal before the game, before the game started,
hour or so before the game starts, so you can
get your system. Now you're saying, okay, boom, I'm going

but some people just pride themselves on that. The people

My brothers are expecting me to do my job, and
I'm gonna give them what I got. I'm gonna give

the day I die. There's no unit that is more
tight knit than the offensive line. It's impossible. I've yet
to see it. And playing this game darning all my life,
been around it for thirty plus years. There's not a
unit more tight knit. Like when you talk about brotherhood,
it don't get no more brotherhood and offensive line. So

when you look out there and like Nate said, you
know you talk hear him talk about well, I look
to my left and I got this guy. I look
to my right, I got this guy. I'm counting on them,
and they darn sure counting on me. And when I
ain't there, they looking at me like, man, what's wrong
with you? They're like, oh, my toe. They're like, man,
last week I play it, broke my whole Damn risk man,
we need you out there. So like that level of

camaraderie and brotherhood that you that you go into there
with and to the common folk, it won't make sense
because you've never been in that level of battle. You know,
when I say sometimes, and I know I very I
say this delicately, when you talk about military and football,
how that it's not we're not we're not going to war.

We're risking our lie. I like that, thank you for
your service. But there's a level of being in the
foxhole with somebody, you know what I'm saying. So now
you're like, man, if I can go, my brothers need
me out there today. They need they need me to
be out there to do our job because we're up
against the enemy, and that goes a long way.

Why why is why is that? Why is offensive line
always so tight knit? And just say defensive line?

You know, I don't know who started and how, but
that's the ticket because you guys like you have your
own little code, like we are not talking, we are
not doing this, and you do it all together. You
have a spokesman. No, I just happen to be out
but it's just I don't know.

It ain't something you just you don't walk in and say,
hey man, we're gonna get together just once. You know,
once you hey.

And there's no rotation on the offensive line unless someone
is legitimately hurt. Yes, these five guys walk out there
every down right like them in the quarterback are kind
of really the only two that don't ever come off
off the field. So there's this I don't know, I
don't I don't have the answer because I never was
an offensive lineman. But I've been in plenty of locker rooms.

You ain't fine, and you mess with one, you're done.
You're done because you it's eight, it's nine, ten, three hundreds,
and they gonna jack you up. And then and then
most of the time, most of the time, if you're
talking about like the most physically tough on a roster,

two or three gonna be in the offensive line. And
so you know what I'm saying, like, I don't care,
I don't care who to do this. I don't who
to mean it's in toughest most likely, most likely the
dude who gonna who will legitimately and realistically rip the
skin off your face.

And they do like you have with like wide receivers
and dbs, there's a little clicks. You have three or
four guys go do this. But offensive line they do
everything together. They vacation together, they go eat together, they
do everything.

Receiver group, I may not hang out with the whole group.
I might have one guy, but I'm also maybe a

the weakest team, right, but then Washington's gonna have their

quarterback back. Cowboys are going to have a better defense
because they can't get any worse. So who's gonna be

get together mentally, defensively, they gonna be a beast.

They got that defense. So whoever between Washington, the Dallas Cowboys,
and the Giants, whoever defense I think plays the best,
will be second.

That they can run this league.

What is Washington defense gonna do? And what is the Giants?
Because that is gonna be the difference making for me

you gained rees who was regarded as one of the best,
you know, players in this in this particular draft, Abdul Carter.
Last year you got Brian Burns. So they got they
got some players. Uh in New York, this this division

untol unto proven otherwise it's Philly. They've won it back
to back years. The first time that's happened in over
twenty some years happened in two thousand and four when
they did it in two thousand and four. So I mean,
it's theirs to lose.

We've been saying that they've been falling apart for the
last two three years, and they just keeping They get
ten to eleven twelve wins in the season and win
the division and go to a super Bowl and go
deep in the playoffs, not you know, not last year,
but the year before. So the Cowboys are the closest.
They're like, it's not Philly, and then the Cowboys it's Philly.

And if we're being honest, and you know, you know
my love for ceed Lamb. If ceede Lamb doesn't have
nineteen drops in that first game of the season last
year when they played Philadelphia, that season might have looked different. Right,
it's Philly and then it's the Cowboys literally nipping at
their heels. You want your defense to play better this year.

We all hope that it will. I do think that
there is a learning curve when you when you change
out that many players, the coach, the scheme, the knowledge,
all of that. You know, he has to trust, learn
to trust y'all. Y'all have to learn to trust him.
And trust don't really happen like you begin to build
the trust in O. T A's in mini camp and
(36:22):
in training camp. But until I get into the fire
with you, until until though live bullets is really out
there flingering around, that's when that that's how you fortify
a bond and fire. And so I think until the
Cowboys defensively get into the fire and they know that
they know that, they know that this defense is what
(36:44):
it is, the calls, the scheme, the what what what
Christian Parker has been saying is ranged true on the battlefield.
That's why I think the second half of the season
should and will look a lot different than the first
have because you just you the time, the energy, the
(37:05):
effort that you normally would need to fortify a defense
like that just don't have it nowadays. Hour and a
half he spent out there in that football fe hour
and a half, no pads on, Gotta walk through all
the time. You know, nobody plays in the preseason anymore.
It only got three games in the preseason, and so
it's gonna take you to go through. And you got
some fire early on. The Giants will be ready to

play you in New York open the night. You know
what you gotta deal with when you gotta deal with Baltimore,
you know what I'm saying. Like, so these things that
you know, you you they have to get they'll get better.
But right now, you know, despite the the inefficiency of
Jalen Hurts, that's still the top, top to bottom. The
Philadelphia Eagles still have the best roster definitely in this

division and maybe playing for player in the league.

How would y'all handle preseason this year with all these
new pieces?

care what was in it. Because tony point, can I
get on the field, what do I have? What do
I have to ingest or what do you have back
there in that cabinet that you can put in the
syringe in the needle and inject it into me so
that I can go out there and play semi pain free.

You know what so funny is? And uh you young,
you strong. You get a little older, about four or
five years in all of a sudden you start feeling
it and the recovery is a little bit taking a

tight knit than the offensive line. It's impossible. I've yet
to see it. And playing this game darning all my life,
been around it for thirty plus years. There's not a
unit more tight knit. Like when you talk about brotherhood,
it don't get no more brotherhood and offensive line. So

when you look out there and like Nate said, you
know you talk hear him talk about well, I look
to my left and I got this guy. I look
to my right, I got this guy. I'm counting on them,
and they darn sure counting on me. And when I
ain't there, they looking at me like, man, what's wrong
with you? They're like, oh, my toe. They're like, man,
last week I play it, broke my whole Damn risk man,
we need you out there. So like that level of

camaraderie and brotherhood that you that you go into there
with and to the common folk, it won't make sense
because you've never been in that level of battle. You know,
when I say sometimes, and I know I very I
say this delicately, when you talk about military and football,
how that it's not we're not we're not going to war.

We're risking our lie. I like that, thank you for
your service. But there's a level of being in the
foxhole with somebody, you know what I'm saying. So now
you're like, man, if I can go, my brothers need
me out there today. They need they need me to
be out there to do our job because we're up
against the enemy, and that goes a long way.

Why why is why is that? Why is offensive line
always so tight knit? And just say defensive line?

You know, I don't know who started and how, but
that's the ticket because you guys like you have your
own little code, like we are not talking, we are
not doing this, and you do it all together. You

but it's just I don't know.

is legitimately hurt. Yes, these five guys walk out there
every down right like them in the quarterback are kind
of really the only two that don't ever come off
off the field. So there's this I don't know, I
don't I don't have the answer because I never was
an offensive lineman. But I've been in plenty of locker rooms.

You ain't fine, and you mess with one, you're done.
You're done because you it's eight, it's nine, ten, three hundreds,
and they gonna jack you up. And then and then
most of the time, most of the time, if you're
talking about like the most physically tough on a roster,

two or three gonna be in the offensive line. And
so you know what I'm saying, like, I don't care,
I don't care who to do this. I don't who
to mean it's in toughest most likely, most likely the
dude who gonna who will legitimately and realistically rip the
skin off your face.

And they do like you have with like wide receivers
and dbs, there's a little clicks. You have three or
four guys go do this. But offensive line they do
everything together. They vacation together, they go eat together, they
do everything.

because they can't get any worse. So who's gonna be

get together mentally, defensively, they gonna be a beast.

I'm like, when you look at their talent, man per man,
the Giants can make the biggest leap because they've played
together year. They lost the Beast, but they got the
biggest They got the best defense out of the three
non Philadelphia, anybody that's in our division that's not called Philadelphia.

They got that defense. So whoever between Washington, the Dallas Cowboys,
and the Giants, whoever defense I think plays the best,
will be second.

Because if Philadelphia just can get together.

As a team, say look him, man, let's put this
pettitness aside.

That they can run this league.

They can run the NFL as a whole. If they
can just somebody can man up and say, brothers, that's

as a team, they are the first, the top three
in the league. Now, what are the Cowboys defense gonna do?
What is Washington defense gonna do? And what is the Giants?
Because that is gonna be the difference making for me

going into this season.

Yeah, I think you're doing a lot of great points
on there. Losing losing sexy dexy matters. But you know,
you gained rees who was regarded as one of the best,
you know, players in this in this particular draft, Abdul Carter.
Last year you got Brian Burns. So they got they
got some players. Uh in New York, this this division

untol unto proven otherwise it's Philly. They've won it back
to back years. The first time that's happened in over
twenty some years happened in two thousand and four when
they did it in two thousand and four. So I mean,
it's theirs to lose.

We've been saying that they've been falling apart for the
last two three years, and they just keeping They get
ten to eleven twelve wins in the season and win
the division and go to a super Bowl and go
deep in the playoffs, not you know, not last year,
but the year before. So the Cowboys are the closest.
They're like, it's not Philly, and then the Cowboys it's Philly.

And if we're being honest, and you know, you know
my love for ceed Lamb. If ceede Lamb doesn't have
nineteen drops in that first game of the season last
year when they played Philadelphia, that season might have looked different. Right,
it's Philly and then it's the Cowboys literally nipping at
their heels. You want your defense to play better this year.

We all hope that it will. I do think that
there is a learning curve when you when you change
out that many players, the coach, the scheme, the knowledge,
all of that. You know, he has to trust, learn
to trust y'all. Y'all have to learn to trust him.
And trust don't really happen like you begin to build
the trust in O. T A's in mini camp and

in training camp. But until I get into the fire
with you, until until though live bullets is really out
there flingering around, that's when that that's how you fortify
a bond and fire. And so I think until the
Cowboys defensively get into the fire and they know that
they know that, they know that this defense is what

it is, the calls, the scheme, the what what what
Christian Parker has been saying is ranged true on the battlefield.
That's why I think the second half of the season
should and will look a lot different than the first
have because you just you the time, the energy, the

effort that you normally would need to fortify a defense
like that just don't have it nowadays. Hour and a
half he spent out there in that football fe hour
and a half, no pads on, Gotta walk through all
the time. You know, nobody plays in the preseason anymore.
It only got three games in the preseason, and so
it's gonna take you to go through. And you got
some fire early on. The Giants will be ready to

play you in New York open the night. You know
what you gotta deal with when you gotta deal with Baltimore,
you know what I'm saying. Like, so these things that
you know, you you they have to get they'll get better.
But right now, you know, despite the the inefficiency of
Jalen Hurts, that's still the top, top to bottom. The
Philadelphia Eagles still have the best roster definitely in this

division and maybe playing for player in the league.

How would y'all handle preseason this year with all these
new pieces?
Speaker 3 (38:00):

worse than two and two coming out of this thing.

put all that responsibility on him as a safety, as

it in walkthroughs. You just the picture isn't as clear

weeks of preseason, Christian Parker needs to have a much
clearer picture of what every individual is, at least the

can de Marvin Overshan handle this? Can can d Winners
handle that? Can you know? Uh, however you want to
do it? Deron Bland, what are you? What are you now?
Two foot injuries on this two injuries on the same foot?
Are you a player? I need to know. You're not

part of what you need. But that's that's not enough

the league last year. And this goes back to a
part of if you're changing the culture, if you're truly
changing the culture. For a long time, we've had this

when you got to go out there and saying nobody

nine and one. You had the worst defense. Not just
last year, which would have made it a historically bad defense,
you had one of the worst defense in the history
of the National Football League. How do you change the approach?

Can't be if you're doing anything like you did last year,
you're wrong, in my opinion. In my opinion, if your
approach to anything that you did last year is being
adopted this year.
