King's X, a Texas based melodic hard rock group with flourishes of soul, classic rock, funk, and alt rock were a bridge between the metal of the 80s and the alternative rock of the 90s. They had a couple of popular singles along the way, but didn't become the "next big thing" as their fans expected they would.
