Austin Galante on Music, Movies, & Multihyphenate Careers
I make movies, music and act. Currently working on preproduction for my 5th indie movie. Just released the comedy Horror Sanguine Teeth on a Driftless road and have 2 more movies coming to streaming.
My next guest is an independent filmmaker — director, actor, and cinematographer — who's carved out a singular voice outside of Hollywood. He's directed four feature films, including the cult hit Sanguine Teeth on a Driftless Road, which picked up numerous festival awards including Best Comedy and Best Director.
He's also an actor with roles across film and television, and before stepping behind the camera, he spent years touring as a musician and producing music featuring artists like Cee-Lo Green, Snoop Dogg and KRS-One. With 34 film festival wins under his belt. Austin made his feature debut with Suite Killing Machines, a super low-budget arthouse crime comedy that announced him as a director with a genuinely singular vision. His follow-up, Sanguine Teeth on a Driftless Road, is a dark, offbeat vampire road-trip comedy that's earned numerous festival awards, including Best Comedy and Best Director — and it's built such a devoted cult following that fans report having to rewatch it just to catch everything they missed the first time.
