secrets, board governance andeverything in between, all while

Whether you're a club veteranjust getting your feet wet or
somewhere in the middle, you arein the right place.

(00:20):
I'm your host, denny Corby.
Welcome to the show In place.
I'm your host, denny Corby.
Welcome to the show.
In this episode I am talking tomyself.
Welcome to the show.
I got to talk to you aboutsomething I've been obsessing
and building over and dreamingabout for some time now and it's
been out there, but I want tofinally do an episode on it, and

(00:42):
I'm talking about management inmotion.
It's not a conference, it's nota seminar, it's not even a
summit.
It's what would happen if youtook a TED Talk and a BMW M4 and
they had a baby and it wasraised by general managers with
great taste and no time forboring.
Let me break down what ishappening.
It is a one-day high-energyleadership driving experience

(01:05):
designed specifically for theprivate club professionals, and
it's happening Monday, september22nd at the Monticello Motor
Club.
A real racetrack, a privateracetrack, a private club in
upstate New York where we'regoing to trade the fairways for
straightaways and power pointsfor horsepower.
We are going to have such anamazing time.
So if you don't know whatMonticello Motor Club is, it's a

(01:28):
private club, privately owned.
I was just there a couple ofdays ago.
I brought my brother for his21st birthday me, him, my dad,
some of his friends and stuffand we had such an amazing time
and I cannot wait for you all tohave just as an amazing time.
I mean, I'm still smiling fromear to ear, I'm still cheesing.

(01:51):
I cannot tell you how much funand the laughs and the joy that
we're going to have, and justthe fact that we get to rip up
other people's vehicles, like weget to take machines these
well-built machines that aremeant for the track, like BMWs
are a driver's car and the factthat we don't have to worry
about replacing the brakes orthe tires or others, that we can

(02:13):
just have fun, oh, that justgets me so excited and I am just
so excited for all of this.
And it's run by Yanel Porub, who is a fantastic, fantastic,
wonderful human being.
If you have not listened to theepisode that we did Hospitality
and Horsepower here on PrivateClub Radio.

(02:33):
You need to go listen to it.
It's absolutely fantastic andhis story and everything about
him I just love so much.
And when we were talking, Ijokingly had this idea for
Management in Motion, which istaking you know what they do
there with BMWs M2s, 3s and 4s,ripping them up on the racetrack
and bring together realrelevant education from other

(02:57):
club professionals and how thatrelates to the track.
So it's not just how thatrelates to leadership, but it's
from leaders, club leaders whoalso have spent time on the
track.
So it's not just you know,we're not just doing this
seminar here or this day thereand we're going to be talking
about AI.
It's how this all relates andhow this all comes together and

(03:18):
comes full circle.
So let me start breaking itdown.
First off, this is limited toonly 50 club professionals from
across the world.
Right now we have over 30people, I think like 30, some
mid thirties, so not too manyseats left.
Which is still mind blowing tome that this is a happening and
so many people signed up.
In my head I was like, if I canget 10 people, I'll be thrilled

(03:41):
, and the fact that we're almostsold out is crazy.
So we have GMs, agms, department heads, future leaders
.
It's small, it's curated andit's built for connection, and
we're going to be spending theday at Monticello Motor Club
taking BMW M cars so 340Ms, m2s,m3s, m4s and doing really fun

(04:01):
stuff on the track.
I'm talking drag racing.
We're going to be doing someskid pad stuff, a little bit of
drifting, we're going to bedoing some precision driving
challenges, some full on karting, we're going to have a go kart
competition with some fast gokarts, and in between all of
that is going to be thoseeducational sessions that I was
talking about.
So we're going to hear fromYanel Porub, the GM there, a

(04:25):
little bit about his story.
We're going to hear about theclub, where they were, where
they're going and where they'reat, because he has so much fun
stuff going on there and there'sso much stuff that the club is
building and building out that Icannot wait for him just to
talk about it and just what theydo.
There is just such a uniqueplace and I can't wait for him
to share about all the behindthe scenes of what goes on.

(04:47):
Then I also am bringing upJosiah Smith.
Joe Smith, gm COO ofCountryside Golf and Country
Club in Naples, florida, andhe's a track man.
He has a track only motorcycle.
So we're going to be talkingabout you know how, you know a
new perspective on howleadership works under pressure,
real stories that tie racingprinciples to club operations,

(05:12):
tools to build trust, improvecommunication and lead into your
strengths.
And I think the biggest thingof all is permission to stop
trying to be everything toeverybody and lead from the
heart and lead from a place ofwho you are and being yourself
and that's who.
That's who Joe is.
You know he started off.
He.
He's also another private clubradio interviewee a great

(05:34):
episode.
He started off working at clubsat a very young age 17, 18,
valeting cars, and then justworked his way up through and
now GM countryside golf andcountry clubs.
And we're going to talk aboutall of that, his story and how
that all relates to his time onthe track, which is really,
really cool.
And I am so thrilled to havethe OG, luann Giovinelli, ccm,

(05:57):
cec, cce fellow, you name it.
She's got all the creds and Iam super stoked.
She's also bringing her husbandwith her because they both drag
race.
So we're going to be talkingabout how that relates to club
leadership and club managementand the parallels between the
two.
Some of her talk is going totalk about real world lessons on
how to build team trust, how toprep and proper risk taking.

(06:22):
We're going to dive intoinsights on how joy and
connection can anchor leadershipstyles and she's really going
to give a fresh take onleadership from my point of view
, one of the most dynamic voicesand people in the club space.
So all that driving, all thatfun stuff, all that leadership
lessons, all that talking isgoing to be on Monday, september

(06:43):
22nd.
Now, if you come in earlySeptember 21st that's Sunday
night I have an activationplanned.
Have a really fun stuff planned.
We're still working out thefinal details and I don't want
to give away everything.
I love surprises and it's themagic as well.
Who doesn't love a goodsurprise?
But there's gonna be somesurprises for Sunday night.
So still finalizing all of that.
Cannot wait to share all that.

(07:04):
So if you're planning on coming, make sure you come Sunday.
Our host casino is MonticelloResorts World Catskills.
That's a couple minutes fromthe club.
The hotel room block is almostup.
It's at the end of the month, end of August, so if you have
not got your room block yet, make sure you sign up, make sure
you get it.
Got killer rates on that.
And obviously all day Monday wehave our fun driving and

(07:26):
educational sessions.
After all of that, we're gonnahave a nice reception, a nice
dinner at the club and thenwe're gonna go back to the hotel
and that's where we're gonnarefresh for a couple minutes and
then I have a poker tournament,a private sit and go poker
tournament just for ourattendees Very small, very
exclusive, very low pressure.
It is an extra fee, it's anextra 100 bucks, it's all

(07:50):
through the casino and there'ssome cash prizes, obviously
through the casino and playingthe game, but I'm also giving
away some extra prizes as well.
So you don't have tonecessarily win the poker
tournament or come in the topthree to win something.
Just by being there you canstill be a winner.
I love, I feel like Oprah, Ilove giving away prizes.
I like just having fun, andthat's what this is about Having

(08:13):
fun and learning and gettingeducation and doing things in a
non-traditional way, cause Iknow there's been some CMA stuff
at Monticello, but not to thislevel, because we're we're
actually taking the day anddriving.
We're doing a bunch ofdifferent driving activities and
in between those there's goingto be those educational sessions
.
That's relevant to all of thisand I am just super stoked and

(08:37):
excited and I can't believe thatthis is even happening.
And the fact that we're gettinglike-minded, fun people
together is just so cool.
And to me, that's how you learnthe most and that's how you
learn the best is when you havethese moments of adrenaline and
these energy spikes, becausethat really helps hold in and
connect the lessons that we'regonna be learning as well and

(08:57):
the connections we're gonna bemaking, the friendships.
That's what I'm super excitedabout too.
I love connecting people.
I love bringing people togetherand the fact that we're
bringing people together atMonticello like we're
like-minded people already fromthe club space, but now it's
this extra layer and when yousee each other again later on at
either BMI's World Conference, there's going to be this bond,

(09:20):
this connection that hey, remember that time that we had a
blast.
That's what this is about.
And what I love is people arecoming for different reasons,
right, I have some GMs and someclub professionals who are
coming because they like thespeakers, they like Joe, they
like Luann.
I have other people comingbecause they want to drive the
cars and rip up the cars.
I have other people comingbecause they want to do both.
I have other people comingbecause they feel burnt out no

(09:42):
pun intended, burnt out and theywant to come and just let loose
.
And that's what's fun about thisday is that when you're driving
you can't focus on other stuff.
You have to be in the moment.
You have to be hypervigilantand focused on what's going on,
that you have to just focus inand forget about everything else
.
And that's important and that'swhat I love and that's what I'm

(10:03):
so excited about.
This whole day, these two dayand a half, is just going to be
super stoked.

(10:23):
professional, this is for thecurious, this is for the open,
the fun, the ones who lead witha little bit of fire, who aren't
afraid to drift out of theircomfort zone.
I mean, I can keep talkingabout this whole day for hours,
