Speaker 1 (01:08):
It's unfortunate you gotta.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
See him in the stormtrooper outfit yesterday we did.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Chris was quick to alert us of that. For the
fourth be with you.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Which one's better that one?
Speaker 5 (01:18):
Or his deep V neck that he's wearing right now
on on Good Morning Football.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
That's not a V neck. That that's a that's a
what's it called?
Speaker 5 (01:26):
It just looks like it because it's all white, and yeah,
it's not.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
A V neck.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
That like a one piece swimsuit.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
For a second thing, just call it a beg like
the Bejesus that's he's it's a whole uh.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Like it's it's actually a regular T shirt that he
has ripped.
Speaker 5 (01:45):
I'm joking you were completely believed.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
I would have believed it, knowing Isaiah.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
Hoping to get Isaiah back, I know he's he's busy
with Good Morning Football. They use him a lot this
time of year. So we'll get him back here over
the next couple of weeks. Gentlemen, how are you doing
doing excellent?
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Man? And how about yourself?
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Henley is what it's called, Well, that's a Henley Henley shirt.
So it has the four buttons.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Up here and then it goes down to the billy button.
Not necessarily that goes pretty deep, to be fair. I
may have one or two of those Henley. Yeah, in
the in the closet somewhere.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
It's a T shirt. Wife bought me at one point.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, yeah, you.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Probably wore it out of the country. Then you go
out of the country. I did.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
I went to Mexico.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Did you have Henley in your baby?
Speaker 6 (02:27):
No?
Speaker 5 (02:28):
It did have like one of those like is she
she went and bought like a bunch of outfits for
both of us, and she.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Bought like the the like boater shirt.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
There's it's like a polo.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
It looks like a polo, but it's a little bit
tighter on like the arms, and it's like it's got
like a like a different colored line here, and it's
really soft.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
You will, is that what it is?
Speaker 1 (02:49):
I can't call her, dude, I don't know. But Kyle
had the guns out, but it was out. The guns
were out.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
What I think Isaiah is missing here with the Henley
is that you need a layer at something under it,
like a long sleeve. He's going to say he's got
picked with the Hendley, He's got picks under it, and
then he's going to do his pick dance.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
He's trying to drive views up.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
If that were myll, I'm wearing as many layers as
possible to be fair.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
Dude, same kind of thing though, the out one of
the outfits my my wife bought for this trip has
like a brown shirt with like the little holes in
it so you can kind of see through it a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
And I told her.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
I was like, I'm not ready for this. I can't
wear this. I was like, it's just not going to happen.
I got some burned before I even tried to wear it, too,
so it was like red in certain spots and like blotchy,
and it just looked like garbage.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
And I was like, I can't do this.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
You looked great.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
It look like Nope, I didn't. I never wore it, So, yeah,
I put it to the side.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
I'm going to have just started.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
I want we're not going to try.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
That one, and I want you to come back looking
like a candy cake.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yeah I got I got a little son.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
He did gil Isaiah with his super v trying to
draft everybody to his only stand.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
All right, let's get into some news and notes. Rookies
were in the building.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Rookies were in the building, so we only had one
transaction over this over the course of this weekend. So
for those that may or may not know Cowboys and
you know, other NFL teams, they routinely invite some players,
some rookies to their rookie mini camp as a tryout.
One of the more notable ones here this weekend was
grandson of former Cowboys head coach Barry Switzer. When Zach
(04:26):
Switzer was in the building trying out last week. Only
one signing came out of that group, though, and that
would be offensive linemen DJ Wingfield. So Dj Wingfield out
of Perdue, he is heading to the Cowboys and after
a successful workout tryout with the Cowboys rookies this past weekend,
so add him to the list of undrafted free agents
(04:47):
that have been signed to the roster, bringing them to one, two, three, four, five, six,
a thirteen total undrafted free agents to go along with
their eight draft picks. So that's the only transaction. But
of course the bigger news and no, it's not Caleb
Down's number. That's not huge news. However, we do love
to see the fact that Caleb Downs was obviously in
(05:09):
the building along with Melica Lawrence number. It's so many people,
it's not the number. It's not the number.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
If people don't understand this by now that that's not
the final number until the roster cuts.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Are all to the people.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Please please understand they need a number to be out
there on the field practicing, and the final number can
be made up until the beginning of the season.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
So please, dude, I say, because every tweet and in
every Jersey Number article, I say, numbers can and likely
often do change. Caleb Downs will likely not play in
the number eighteen. Let he and one Kobe Durant continue
their negotiation.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
See that's the thing though, It's like, if Kobe Durant's
not giving up the number, what kind of number is
he gonna end up getting.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Listen, we're going to I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Say there's there's no open numbers.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Great Tedbs. Everybody has got a prime And I promise
you Kobe Durant.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Okay, Let's let's say Kobe does not Okay, let's say,
like just just say veteran. He's coming to a new place.
He wants to make a statement. He wants to keep
number two. He was here first, whatever that may be,
he was here for. He was here for a couple
couple of months. First, the the who's the most likely
to give up their number outside of Kobe Durant in
the in the single digits.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
That's a valid question.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
I mean ones, it's not so okay, So zero is Demo, yeah, No.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
One, PJ Locke number one, probably that's that's a good candidate.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Number three is George Pickens.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
Number four of course is Dak Prescott, Brian Angers number five,
Donovan as Rok, who's number six?
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Sean Garry's number seven? Of course we all know.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
Number eight hasn't been worn in a long time, once
worn by one Troy Aikman. Then you've got Cavante turp
a number nine.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
That's that's the list.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
I can I tell you what I want to see happen.
Oh I understand the affinity for fans wanting to see
the number two jersey on Caleb Down. Obviously it's Ohio
state number. But I would like to see him in
number eleven. And here's why I like it. It has
nothing to do with the guy in Green Bay. It
really too. So here's the thing. One plus one equals two, okay,
(07:14):
which overall pick was Caleb Downs?
Speaker 3 (07:16):
He was number eleven.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Shall I continue you? I mean it just it feels
it right, It just feels right. So I am I
am on board with Caleb Downs taking the number eleven.
I know some people are going to, you know, take
it as a shot at that guy in Green Bay.
It's not not from my perspective.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Can we make it a shot?
Speaker 1 (07:33):
You can make it whatever your life, Okay.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
I mean Paris Campbell had number eleven after my parson,
so so let's not act like it's now that number
is sacred at this point.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
I mean eleventh overall, pick and one plus one equals
to give Caleb downs number eleven. In my humbler, would
you let him wear twenty two? No? I will also
say no, no, no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
He just signed with the Seahawks this morning with eight,
and dirty number thirteen will be available. I don't know
if that's any better than eighteen. If it doesn't hit,
it doesn't hit. I'm just saying that that number will
become available. Apparently Sam Howe is wearing thirteen. I was
having a conversation with Beam earlier, this is yesterday actually
about the number eight. And of course you would never
(08:15):
give it to another quarterback, much less another offensive human player.
Another human I mean, it's sacrilege to even have the discussion.
I'm just curious, would you guys let a defensive player
have that number number twenty two.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
Eight, oh, number eight. It's a different it's a different thing.
I mean when because it's not retired. No, that's the.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Quix of my argument. I want just a conversation. Retire numbers.
They don't, but I would like for them to retire.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
I mean theywell, they've got three numbers that they have
twelve software tired.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yeah, the software twelve is often twelve, eight and twenty
two are soft retired. But I would like to see
official retirement so that we don't even have to have
these cars. I know exactly. So, yeah, I would do it.
For defense.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yeah, for defense, for a defensive player, I do it.
It's different.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
It's is international cow, He's I'm just.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
Saying, I like, I trust me, Like it's nothing against Troy,
it's nothing against like the history and everything that it's there.
I'm just saying for a defensive player to wear a
number that an offensive player made a famous to a
certain extent, it's a little different. So if you haven't
retired the number, if you want to retire the number,
to go ahead and do it. Just make it like
like you're saying, make it official, let's do it. That's
(09:29):
our twelve. And if that's the case, Yeah, start with twelve,
work your way down and then we don't have to
have this conversation. But if you're not going to retire
the number, sure, yeah I would put it on. I
would never put it on an offensive point. No, especially
a quarterback would not. No, never ever ever. Ever, however,
for a safety shirt, yeah, I'd take that one right
off his jersey and be differently, I would say seventy
(09:49):
four is also soft free times yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, of course four. What about twenty two?
Speaker 3 (09:56):
No, that's no, no, twenty two for it's the same thing.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
I'm not going to change it up.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
I'd say, same thing if it's a defense.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
I think eighty two is probably soft retired as well.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
I think from this point forward.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Eighty two would be Yeah, they'd get a phone call
upstairs from that from somebody from that coach in Oklahoma.
I think it's worthing number.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
But you know, with so many soft retired numbers, I mean,
you know, just just do it just when you're going
to turn into the Yankees. But I'm also not against eighteen.
I'm really not against it because you know, why not,
why not make your own legacy with your own.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Number, Like I think eighteen looked that bad.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
I'm not a big numbers guy. Yeah, I am a
big numbers guy, but I'm not you know, I'm not
a fanatic about the numbers like I will like I
like them to look a certain way, like I wouldn't
for example, going to the extreme, I wouldn't want to
see a cornerback in ninety nine, you know what I mean.
So they're boundaries. But for the most part.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
I gave up on numbers once I saw Jalen Smith
in the number nine jersey after Tony Romo.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
I was like that. I was like, come on, man, yeah,
what are we doing?
Speaker 4 (10:53):
And then I just I let it go.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
You know, at least one started to make it a
little good. Yeah, So there's that.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
See.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
But when you look at safeties, the numbers are all
over the place for safeties, I mean, Kyle Hamilton, where
is eight or fourteen? No one likes forty, Antoine Winfield Junior,
where's thirty one? I mean, you saw some of the
best safeties in history War twenty. I mean, double digit
numbers for a good safety is not out of the question.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
It's just the fact that everybody looked at the.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Ohio State film and said, Wow, this guy looks really
good wearing number two. It's it kind of fits the mold,
and it's a historic number with Ohio State and it
carries a lot of weight there. Why not just continue that,
especially for an organization that hasn't.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Had a number two that has stood out as of late.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
We're saying all of this and Kobe Durant just the
city has a price sitting there just waiting for for
the number to get it. That's all. That's so. Yeah.
So outside of that, which has been a nice fun
bancher for Cowboys fans coming out of this rookie Muni camp,
they're actual football things that are happening. You know. Cowboys
saw Christian Parker, Caleb downs Mallakyle Lowins, Jay Sean bar
(11:58):
hamm and these other rookies finally get on the field
for the first time with Christian Parker and Scott Simons
and shadero Uzzo de Rebay and these defensive coaches, and
that was exciting to see, especially when you see, you know,
guys like bar Ham getting so much attention early on
from Christian Parker specifically, there is more than one occasion
where obviously he was giving his attention to Caleb Downs
(12:20):
as well some of the other guys, but I know
specifically on I believe it was Saturday. I sat there
and watched for about twenty minutes of practice and it
was first one on one bar Ham with Christian Parker.
He was helping him with footwork and hand placement and
things like that, and then he escorted him over to
the inside linebackers group, let Scott Simons take over. And
then Christian Parker stood back with his arms folded, nodding
(12:41):
in approval that the rookie was taking some of the
things that he was giving him and integrating them already.
So we talked about, you know, potential sleepers last week
in this draft as far as who might be our favorites,
I mean, based on what I saw in rookie Minnie
camp in the level of attention already being given to
bar Ham and Devin Moore as well, I'm going to
switch my answer from Devin Moore to Barham. I think Barham,
(13:03):
first of all, he's a freaking unit.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
He's a huge good god as a mic stands out
on film too, as a.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Mic emphasis on the hand. Yeah, if he can if
he can stick at Mike, good lord, dude.
Speaker 5 (13:17):
His film, his film in twenty four was better at
Mike than it was in twenty five at Edge. But
it's so I I wouldn't be shocked if he is
a starter by these and I liked the Mike, Yeah,
I wouldn't be.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
By the way, do you.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Trust his ability to get sideline sideline taking on blockers?
And no, there's there's elements of his game that have
to grow. That's that's that's part of that's the part
that's concerning me, of course. But it's like if he
gets washed out by like one of the bigger tight ends,
that that's where I don't think he'll be washed out.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
It's it's more of can he get there first.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
That's that's where when he gets to the point of attack,
I think he's fine. He's got good hand placement, he's
got good big dude, big dude.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Yeah, all of that plays a factor.
Speaker 5 (13:57):
It's the sideline, the sideline lateral ability that I'm a
little bit skeptical on, right, And maybe maybe I just
haven't seen it, or maybe he's he's grown in that area.
But I don't think if he was just an incredible linebacker,
which his tape was better as a linebacker. If he
was an incredible linebacker, they would have never moved him
to edge rusher, and they did because of necessity and
(14:18):
what Michigan had on the roster and things like that.
I know all that plays a factor, But if he
was as good as advertised as a middle linebacker right
then he would have stayed a middle linebacker in Ann Arbor. Now,
when you get to the next level, he probably fits
better just from a schematic standpoint, from an athleticism standpoint,
as a mic, but I think technically there's a lot
(14:39):
of things that he's going to have to grow on.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Is it more so footwork or is it actual like
speed that he's suffering from in that good question aspect,
and is he able to diagnose plays like I.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
Wouldn't even say he's suffering. I'm just saying it's it's
something that I'm watching for because remember we're he hasn't
played the position, of course, Yeah, so a lot of it.
I'm not gonna say he's so curriculat Yeah. In rookie
mini caamp. It's just something that I want to see
more of when we get the training camp. That's going
to be one of my number one things to watch
is how is he moving sideline to sideline, how is
(15:10):
he reading?
Speaker 1 (15:10):
How is he reacting?
Speaker 5 (15:11):
Is just about to say all of that is more
instinctual than it is even technical.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
His ability to quickly diagnose is what's going to truly
determine if he can stick at that mic position. I
think that as he gets integrated into the NFL level
with conditioning and you know, just the training staff and everything.
I think those traits he's already an athlete and he's
already a freaking unit. But I think like the speed,
the quickness that'll level up for me. It's more so
(15:38):
how quickly can he get the playbook down, particularly being
like it's a new playbook, but it was going to
be a new playbook to him anyway, Yeah, regard happened.
So how quickly can he get this playbook down? And
how quickly can he read react or diagnose read react
in real time? And also that goes to his pre
snap awareness as well, and as far as like helping
to because now the question becomes if he sticks at
(15:59):
the mic, and we're saying that, okay, if he sticks
at the mic, then that means likely it's likely that
he is diagnosing well he's reading Will does that automatically
make him to defect O green dot?
Speaker 7 (16:10):
No?
Speaker 1 (16:11):
No, I mean that's a conversation as well. Shot he
talked about it this this weekend. Christian Parker was asked
about it this weekend, and right now they're saying there
are a lot of candidates at the at the table for.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
It, and that has me concerned, honestly, Like I, at
least from a outside perspective, the idea of a green
dot by committee right now.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
No, I don't think it's by committy, not by committe.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
But I mean like it's it's an open competition for
the ballot.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Yeah, the list is long, ballad is long.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
And you know, Shot he said in the pre draft
press or that you know, no, a linebacker is going
to be the green dot. And then he's since sort
of changed his tune, especially in the Saturday's press conference.
He was talking about like the ability of a Jalen
Thompson or possibly Caleb Downs being trained to take over
green dot positions like during game scenarios. I'm concerned because
there is no definitive answer. Yet, there's no answer, and
(17:01):
Shot he was like, well, I have a favorite, but
I'm not gonna, you know, share that with anybody, and
he was, of course joking around. But to me to
not have that answer right now is concerning. But obviously
they're not trying to show all their cards right now.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Question.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
I think it's a I think it's a matter of
you know, and this is something we're gonna be talking
about in the third segment. I don't think your green
dot is necessarily on this team yet.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Oh that good segue. Here's the question. If the Cowboys
made no additional moves between now in training camp, who
is cal Yomus's green dot? Who is Josh rodriguez green dot?
If no other moves were made before training camp, no trade?
Speaker 5 (17:37):
See, this is why I don't think they have an answer.
Oh I've got a favorite.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
They haven't.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
They haven't decided.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
It does sound like you even have a favorite.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
I would say d Winters probably at least he's been there,
done that, He's started seventeen games.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Do I love that option?
Speaker 4 (17:51):
No?
Speaker 5 (17:53):
But is that kind of what you got right now? Yeah,
that's kind of what you got. I I wouldn't be
shocked if it's a guy that maybe plays in the secondary.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
They could maybe.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
Make Caleb Downs the green Dot at certain times, but
even then, like, I would rather be your mind if
it has to be, maybe a will, but give me,
give me de Winters as the early favorite.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
They also brought up Overshown in terms of like the
green Dot conversation, and I don't think that's a great
idea just based on.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
That would be like the break glass of a case
of emergency. Put it as your weak side guy. Yeah, yeah,
it can make your will, your your green dot.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
And in terms of like his availability so far in
his career here with Cowboys, that concerns me because you
know you're going to have to have other people trained
at green Dot and knowing the plays to me right now,
my my pick would be Jalen Thompson just because of the.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Much good Yeah, that's my pig. You knows.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
If it's if it's not gonna be Caleb Downs and
year one, which I don't love that idea either, then
it would be it would probably be Jalen too.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
That's my vote. My vote is Jayalen Thompson.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
Shout out to Ultra Cowboy on the YouTube chat. He
said borrom Can or bar Ran a four six two
forty he can get sideline the sideline.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
He had the fourth best ten yard split.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
For defensive vents.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
That's that's good.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
All of those numbers are fine, But remember he's playing
middle linebacker in this scenario.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Remember that's what we're talking about.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Four six, four forty out of the list of forty
three linebackers that I have at ranks number twenty five,
So twenty five out of forty three that I've gotten.
I didn't have everybody, but there's that. That's still bottom
half of the list in terms of linebackers in the forties.
And then in terms of ten yard split, let me
see the same Let me do the same math if
I can organize this column real quick, but that split
(19:38):
would be.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Yeah, like twenty twenty second.
Speaker 5 (19:43):
So it's still middle of the pack in terms of
your rookie linebackers going sideline the sideline. Not saying he
can't do it, I'm just saying I want to see
it a little bit more. And we haven't even seen practice,
al Wood. I was in Mexico, dog like, I haven't
seen practice yet. I'm just saying this solely based off
of the the.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
College tape, and I mean practice wasn't as much practice
as it was individual drills and the rookies getting to
know installs, installs and things like that. It was not
actual practice. The cowboys and the NFL teams are not
allowed to actually practice right now, so just keep that
in mind. But also shouts out the ultra cowboy because
he said bore Him wants to run a Oklahoma drill
with talking cowboys. Listen, I'm not ready. Holler at the yeah,
(20:27):
Jeel Hoyd. Yeah, bore Him is ready for all the
smoke for all comers.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Anybody was ready for the smoke.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
And Joe he's a man of his word.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
He's a man of his word. He would do it.
But I don't think he was ready for that response.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
I'm sure that shocked him a little bit.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
He's had a tough off a couple of said at
the end too, like when there was a different topic,
he brought it back full circle bar him. Then he
was like, no, seriously, we can do it. I was like,
all right, this is this guy.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
I mean, I remember he had the questions. He's a
good guy by the way, shots to him. Uh, but
I remember he had the question one of her. President
Clinton walked in the press cover. It was literally on
him and he's just like.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Like we were.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
What am I doing?
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Joe Hoyd? We love you and you're having a very interesting,
great off season?

This segment has brought to.

You by invisi Line, the official smile of the Dallas Cowboys.
Back with Josh Rodriguez, Patrick Nocy Walker Chris Beam in
the back.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
I'm Kyle Yeoman's time now.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
To talk to Cowboys Nation.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
Our first caller is Greg in Columbus, Ohio.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Greg, I have a feeling where this conversation could be headed.
We'll see if it's a correct feeling or not.
Speaker 5 (24:15):
But you're in Columbus, Ohio and the Cowboys just drafted
a guy that played his college football there, oh eight.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
What's going on? Greg? And there it is?
Speaker 13 (24:26):
So you know this just uh, it was really nice
to see the behind the scenes of the draft and
you know everything.
Speaker 8 (24:37):
That went with this.
Speaker 6 (24:38):
But uh, you know, the last couple.
Speaker 8 (24:40):
Of years, Ohio State has had these incredible young men
at their school, well a lot of them with the
faith background, especially Caleb Downs. They had Henderson, Jack Sawyer,
Will Howard, Sunny Styles.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
All these guys.
Speaker 8 (24:59):
Yeah, there's video of them having like revivals with a
student body at Ohio State. And uh, you know the
Saska a great, great uh ballplayer, but an even better person.
And and I'm excited and I hope he gets his
(25:20):
number two because that's what he starts, and he is
going to get a face of this of this defense.
And also for Patrick, you know, I don't know if
you saw it, but Jake Cargill's husband, Brandon Millips got
into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame last weekend. Absolutely,
that's not all I got, So thank.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
You, guys, Jake. He appreciate it, man, I appreciate put
the built back on her. To put the built back on.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
He brings up a good point. I mean, there's a
lot of Ohio State success.
Speaker 5 (25:49):
I mean, you think about some of the guys that
have recently just come into the league and immediately had
an impact like last year a mechag Buka the nineteenth
overall selection last year wide receiver High State. He was
like the third receiver off the board last year, I
think Teed was the first.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
He's gonna have an even better year this year.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
This probably is He's gonna be really good.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
And that's scary.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
I mean, they had four first round picks last year
O Higo State did. They had four picks in the
first eleven this year.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Crazy.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
They had Marvin Harrison Junior in twenty twenty four, c J.
Stroud and twenty three, Jackson Smith and Jigbu in twenty three,
Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson both in twenty twenty two, Justin
Fields in twenty twenty one.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
We've seen how that kind of turned out.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
And then they had three guys go in the first
round of twenty twenty and they've won that national championship
remember since then, so kind of yeah, it's a pipeline
of guys in this year's group was a big reason
why they won last year's national championship, and they were
in the contention to win this year's national championship until
they came up against a really talented Miami team.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
In the Cotton Bowl at AT and T Stadium.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
It might have won. Straw was a quarterback. You know,
they kind of ran into an issue.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Which one was that who is the issue.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
The rules? But to be fair, all jokes aj Stroud
in that semi fund who absolutely made my life lash
before my eyes several times, shouts it was one of
the best games. Shouts out to the kicker.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
Before we move on to the next collar. He did
bring up something that was really interesting, the path to
the draft and behind the scenes coverage that ESPN and
the NFL Network put together. They had NFL Network cameras
all weekend long in the draft meetings in the war room,
and there's a lot of behind the scenes footage from
(27:45):
different trades that Dallas tried to make. They had the
trade from uh they were trying to go from twelve
to nine whenever Cleveland flipped with Kansas City and where.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
They're trying to go up.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
It was probably Caleb Downs. I haven't watched the documentary yet,
but the clips that.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Not for Jordan's, it was for Caleb Downs for sure.
Where they were rumors, Yeah, they were rumors they were
going for post draft that they were going for no
they were.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
Now they like Jordan Tyson.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
No, I think if he was there and they were
wiped out on defense, he would have been.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
They did like him, that was true, But the speculation
and the rumors post draft that have come out standing.
The Cowboys were trying to move up for Jordan's No,
that's that's actually wildly inaccurate. It was Caleb that they
were trying to go up for, and just so happens
that he was still there to live and they were like,
we're not going to keep playing this game too. Five
do it now?
Speaker 5 (28:34):
And then and it's even got the behind the scenes
call of Philadelphia trading up and then Mikayle Lemon being
on the phone with Pittsburgh and then why is Philly
calling me?
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Well, that's why Draft action, Baby.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
I love the NFL Draft.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
It's crazy night, all right.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
Next caller, it's one of our faves. It is Nebby, No,
Nebby and Silver Strings Maryland.
Speaker 4 (28:56):
What's up Nebby?
Speaker 7 (28:58):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (28:58):
Uh, guys, thank you so much for taking my call.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Listen.
Speaker 6 (29:07):
Before I get to my question, I just want to
congratulate uh uh my favorite player, Cooper BB.
Speaker 7 (29:26):
On getting married.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
Uh over the.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
Weekend and my question is.
Speaker 14 (29:43):
With a.
Speaker 15 (29:48):
With a strong.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
Training camp, do you think.
Speaker 8 (29:58):
True?
Speaker 15 (30:02):
Uh? Uh uh should.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (30:07):
Do you think Drew?
Speaker 15 (30:10):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (30:11):
Uh Shelton?
Speaker 15 (30:13):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (30:14):
I can be? Can be, can be, can be, can be,
can be, can be, can be, I can be the.
Speaker 15 (30:31):
Swing uh uh uh uh uh huh I tackle uh
uh I take care. Thanks for being patient with me,
have a great week. Uh.
Speaker 6 (30:49):
I love you guys.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Bye. That a great question.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
See, and that's how we know Navy knows balls. We're
in the middle, we're in the middle of May. It's
and he's asking about the swing town.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
He knows well so much that that is literally a
topic that I wrote down for this show because that
is in Kyle's third segment and about the most glaring need,
the second most glaring need. I'm like that exactly.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
The Nebe wants you to pull that forward to segment too, So.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
Here we are with it, the second most glaring need.
Thank you Kyle for the question that we'll get to eventually,
but just to bring it up now, I mean the
swing tackle. I mean you need a certified swing tackle.
I don't know that Drew Shelton is. I mean, he
was there. They obviously like him, but I'm curious if
they think that that is their solution going forward for
(31:37):
swing tackle, because at least at this point, I would
like more insurance there.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
I would like a.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
VET, a really good VET, someone with a lot of
pedigree that gives you an opportunity to have more experience
there if and when there is a an injury there
a tackle on either side. I think there might be
some options out there, especially for a VET that's looking
for the best situation to be in that wants to chase.
(32:03):
I don't know, some playoff success. We'll see, but I'm
hoping that Drew Shelton proves me wrong there. But it
wouldn't hurt to have another dependable guy. It's a little
longer in the tooth in my opinion.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Yeah, I mean Nate Thomas is still on the roster.
Jeanne Cornelius is still on the roster. I don't think
either one of those guys.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
Have are Yeah, you're not like You're not like this
is you don't have We're.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
A good guy there.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
Yeah, Drew Shelton, I think and I said this, maybe
it was on the Draft show specifically, it may have
been on this show last week too, but I don't
think that's a twenty twenty six pick. I think that's
a twenty twenty seven to twenty eight pick because he
needs to build functional strength. He's strong when he's got
his hands at the point of attack, but his finishing
(32:45):
strength isn't the same. His lateral movement is phenomenal, it's fantastic,
and the way that they're going to pull tackles and
pull guards and do different things with their offensive line,
I think he'll be just fine. But is he your
go to swing tack when one of your top guys
goes down.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
I don't know if he's there for that, but you
can't count on it.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
But the question that Nebby did put out there was
with a strong training camp. So maybe he does come
out and he is impressive and he does set the
tone in training camp. Could he become the swing tackle?
I think my answer is yes. Do I think he's
the swing tackle now?
Speaker 1 (33:19):
No?
Speaker 3 (33:19):
No, he can get there, and I think the job
is wide open.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
It is.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
That's really the point.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
It'll be a fun competition to see, But again I
think it would be best served with a veteran in
there to disagree. Is up You need the Rob Jones
at tackle of this season, and granted Rob Jones got
injured last pre season would have been great on but
he was arguably starting for Or He was pushing to
be a starter last at training camp because he was
(33:45):
playing so well, and he was a guy that was
working with the rookies until he got he injured his
neck and last preseason. Now he's with the forty nine ers,
of course, but you need a guy like that, in
my opinion, that can be here at tackle.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
I think it's so well first of all, Kyle said,
and I agree, the competition at left tackle is indeed
wide open.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Swing tackle tackle. It's about to say left tackle. I mean,
do you want to You could argue depending.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
I'm not saying that starting job is open, that's fair,
but I would argue that because of Tyler Guion's issues
with availability. Yes, the left tackle position right now is
just wildly out of sorts as a whole. And I
don't like those words because it's also, by the way,
Dak Prescott's blind side right. So the Cowboys have to
(34:33):
figure this out. And I'm not of the ilk where
I want to see Tyler Smith popped outside. I don't
want that. I want Tyler Smith to remain at left guard.
What I want you to do is solve the issue
at left tackle so you can keep your all pro
left guard at left guard. Now, to answer to address
NEPs question, as far as Drew Shelton, I think that's
too much right now to put on a Day three
(34:54):
pick when going in, especially going in, you have two
things that are true. The strength needs to He does
have the strength. I love his anchor, I love his
hand placement, but he's got to get stronger at this level.
I think you're going to have to give him the
entirety of a season to develop that. I don't think
he's going to just magically come out of Oxnard in
late August and all of a sudden Tyler Smith's strength, Like, no,
(35:16):
that's not going to happen. I think he's a viable
option for Swing in the event Nate Thomas has another
availability issue or Nate Thomas doesn't develop, continue to develop
as he was before he had the injury issue late
last season. But I'm looking at Tyler Guidon as well
in this whole equation, asking myself, am I one hundred certain?
And I've still here and I've said it, I'm sitting
(35:38):
out because but I believe Tyler Goiden has the potential.
He just has to stay on the field. But if
you're asking me, well, no, Seed, do you believe he
will stay on the field the entirety of this season
based on the science. The science says I can't lean
on that. The science says he's probably going to miss
some games. I hope I'm wrong, but we all we
have is two years of evidence where he missed games.
(36:00):
He's missed some training camp significant for various reasons. So
Tyler Goydon has to remain available. I am very, very
very concerned about left tackle, not because of the ability
of Tyler guy and I believe that he has that,
and I believe that it's being stunted by the injuries.
Has to stay healthy. And then behind him Nate Thomas Cornelius.
(36:22):
But Nate beat out of Johnny. Right, Yeah, here comes Drew.
He's a rookie. He needs to get his strength up.
Everything else looks really really good. Anchor, hand placement, everything
just got a lot of questions, and you better damn
will come out of Oxnard in the preseason with a
definitive answer at both LT one, which will likely be
Tyler goutton as long as he's healthy, and you better
(36:42):
have an answer at swing tackle in the event the
likely event, unfortunately, something that Tyler gout and misses some games.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
I think, if anything, it's Nate Thomas's job to lose.
At this point, I think you would be the most comfortable.
I'm not saying you would be entirely comfortable with him
at swing tackle, but I think in terms of like
the starts that he had last year, what he was
able to bring, and if he improves on that, I
think it's his job to lose.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
However, I don't think that's necessarily solid ground. And to
answer the questions in the chat really quickly, Terrence Steele's
not going anywhere, and the Cowboys proved that by restructuring
his deal this season. So I know there are questions
they're saying, well, how do we feel about this year
right now? This year? How do we feel about Tyler
guy and popping out the right tackle in twenty twenty six.
It's not going to happen in twenty twenty six, so
at the earliest maybe twenty twenty seven. But for this season,
(37:26):
it doesn't bear, you know, mentioning or having the conversation
because they you don't restructure guy like Terrence Steele's contract
and then just to really know he's your starting right
tackle in twenty six.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
To that point, though your swing tackle may bee Tyler
Smith currently I don't like.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
I'm just saying that's I doesn't like Tyler Smith.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
I don't like it.
Speaker 5 (37:47):
But that's if you've got TJ. Bass, so you can
throw in their guard best five, then you're throwing up
Tyler Smith at left tackle and your your you do
have TJ.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
They don't like it.
Speaker 5 (37:56):
I know Tyler doesn't like it, but in the break
glass of a case of emerger, have used that a
couple of times today. You have to put your best
guys out there, and he would be one of the best.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
See doesn't that bring us to another question as far
as o L depth, because you do have t J.
Bass back in the building. You don't have brock Hoffman
back in the building. So if in the event they.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
Have Hennessy who I like Matt Hennessy who the signed?
Speaker 1 (38:20):
Yeah like him? That veterans do you believe that in
the scenario Keaton was here last season credit and couldn't
crack into even when they had issues.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Depth, though we're not talking about starting right now.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
Depth depth like the game. But no, seriously, I mean,
in the situation, let's just talk football, and we don't
want to put any bad mode out there. But if
you're looking at a situation where you now have to
pop Tyler Smith out to be your swing tackle, that
means you're in dire straits there. But it also puts
(38:58):
you in a bad position in the on the because yes,
you have TJ. Bass, but you don't have Brock Kaffman.
And yes, Matt Hennessy brings experience. I'm just going to
stop there because Trevor Keagan, I need to see more
before I say he's in Mike listen, all I can
say I love him, I love what.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
You're saying, I love every and I agree with everything.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
I'm worried. I'm worried.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
I love what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
I'm worried.
Speaker 5 (39:16):
But if you're telling me that there are multiple starters
missing on the offensive line, you're kind of in.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
A bad spot regardless.
Speaker 5 (39:22):
Yeah, of course, I don't care who's heard up front
if you're missing two or three starters on your offensive line, regardless,
there's not a ton of teams in the NFL that
are built to withstand two or three starters down. So
the depth that the depth there is all, that's all
safety net.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
That's fair.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
It's so you can feel the team.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
Let's spin. Let's put it on a positive Spinlin though,
and then we can break. That's what we need to do,
positive s Tyler Booker, you two can't wait, I can't.
Speaker 5 (39:53):

that cow Here we are back here on talking all right,
(42:48):
We've got two more calls that we want to get
to before we say goodbye. Fred In Virginia is our
next caller?
Speaker 1 (42:54):
What up?
Speaker 4 (42:54):
Fred?
Speaker 7 (42:56):
What's up?
Speaker 14 (42:56):
Fellas? How you go doing? Isaiah in Atcincia? So I
had no problems with what has happened over this offseason. Honestly,
I think Gary's did a good job. But I do
think the cornerback room and the linebacker room, I thought
there would be maybe more done to those two and
(43:17):
I thought that they would perhaps grab a couple of
a drafted free agents to add to those rooms. And
that didn't look like that happened. So one, what do
we know about the Patterson guy from Vanderbilt? Is he
a valid potential player this year?
Speaker 7 (43:36):
And who do we expect then?
Speaker 14 (43:38):
I'm expecting that we would have to talk to more
people into those two rooms. So do we have any
cadidates you know, in track for that for those two positions.
That's it, that's it.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
That's appreciate the call.
Speaker 4 (43:52):
Let me say really quick, and as in terms of
the undrafted free agents, please don't count on any of
those contributing at a high level for for the Cowboys
this season. I mean it's one of those things where
it's like you're looking at guys at positions that you
probably feel comfortable with. Yeah, it's a lottery ticket. Yeah, seriously,
it's just just kind of feeling things out. I don't
(44:13):
want to bank on any of those guys right now,
because time and time again you've heard about these guys
are like you'll have a favorite that you kind of
keep watching and then you know, lo and behold. By
the time the season starts, it's like we've kind of
moved on and you know that they're not a part
of the roster. And in that same fashion, maybe a
practice squad like this is figuring out your practice squad
right now, I don't want to count on those guys
contributing to starting positions or you know, I don't want
(44:36):
the thought to be there, like that's where the Cowboys
are looking to fill their starting positions at linebacker or
depth position at linebacker. Well said in terms of undrafted
rookie free agents.
Speaker 5 (44:46):
If they would have if they would have addressed the
linebacker spot through undrafted free agency and said this is
our plan moving forward, Cowboys fans would burn.
Speaker 4 (44:57):
Down the Star.
Speaker 3 (44:58):
Yeah, yeah, it would be.
Speaker 5 (45:01):
It would not be an effective way of doing things.
And yes, I know they still have it done a
ton to this point to try and address a glaring
need at a position. They trade it for de Winters.
I think that's a great move. I think Jayshon Barham
does a lot for you at the second level if
he can kind of grow into the role as we
talked about earlier. But I don't I still forget the
(45:23):
feeling they're not done. I really don't think they're done
at linebacker. And that may be a big name that's
elsewhere right now, whatever it may be. It may be
a veteran that's still out on the open market one
way or the other. I don't think they're done yet,
and they're gonna address it somehow, some way.
Speaker 4 (45:38):
It's not going to be through undrafted free agency. No,
it's a that's a big no, like a if they
like a bugs buddy.
Speaker 15 (45:44):
No.
Speaker 1 (45:45):
No.
Speaker 5 (45:46):
If they felt like that was the case and that
was their best option for filling a role, they would
have drafted a couple of more guys at the linebacker position.
Speaker 4 (45:55):
This is for camp. You need camp bodies, you need
ninety guys out there. I mean to just consider that Nah.
Speaker 1 (46:03):
Patterson is talented. But to Kyle and especially Josh's point,
these undrafted guys, if they hit magnificent wonderful. You cannot
put that expectation on these undrafted guys, especially when at
the linebacker position. I mean, they're high. Patterson is coming
into a situation we talk about We've been talking about depth.
Cowboys are kind of high on Justin Barron as far
(46:24):
as depth is concerned, So they he'd have to get
past Justin Barron, who's already shown some good things in
his rookie seaon special team, special team specifically. So you know,
Josh makes an excellent and a very accurate point. These
are guys who likely are aimed at the practice squad
development roles. And if it so happens that one or
two of these guys like a Michael Trigg, the tight end,
(46:46):
could see that right if he if he were one,
and he likely is going to be one that stands
out and forces the Cowboys to play the numbers game
to keep him around. That's my early, way too early
camp predictions that you're going to have to play the
numbers game to figure out how to keep Trigg in
the building. But outside of a guy like that, and
even with the guy like that, you can't expect Trigg
is going to make an impact for the Cowboys. On
(47:07):
a starter level or even a te two level this season. No,
let them, you know, have their first camp. Let's see
who sticks practice squad or bottom of the roster, right,
and then let's go from there. But the answer rather
it be Patterson or anyone else, but specifically since the
question was about Patterson. Patterson is talented, yes, but he
is far and away not the answer or your linebacker position.
(47:29):
And Kyle and nine Josh, we were all on the
same page with this. We don't think the Cowboys are done.
I'm of the mindset and I know Kyle agrees. We
believe that whatever is going to come is going to
happen after June first, ye, And I'm just gonna.
Speaker 4 (47:41):
Leave it, signing trade whatever it.
Speaker 5 (47:43):
Lots of things to figure out there, maybe happen after camp,
are around camp whenever.
Speaker 3 (47:48):
All all the veterans are kind.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
Of like you hold areas out there.
Speaker 5 (47:52):
You get a whole nother pool of players to pull from,
whoever it may be.
Speaker 4 (47:55):
All right, Mike in New York, what's up, Mike?
Speaker 1 (47:59):
What's going on?
Speaker 8 (48:00):
Guys?
Speaker 14 (48:00):
I know it's been a pretty good all season for
the Cowboys.
Speaker 8 (48:03):
My question is is I know it's a long ways
down the road.
Speaker 13 (48:06):
Do you think we could be a top fifteen defense
this year?
Speaker 1 (48:10):
Fifteen? Okay, we're just going to get right to it. Huh, yes, yes,
yes I do. No, I do.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
Statue case, they're not there yet. Statue case.
Speaker 4 (48:22):
There.
Speaker 5 (48:22):
We just talked about Mike just like threw a match
into a fire or threw a match into like gasoline.
Speaker 3 (48:30):
He's just gonna watch it.
Speaker 1 (48:30):
For the gift where it's like the little girl is
turned looking at the camera smiling and the house is
on fire. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I did. I respect, I.
Speaker 5 (48:38):
Like the moves they've made, I like the thought process.
To this point, part of me feels like the expectation.
Part of me feels like the faith in a first
year defensive coordinator is a little.
Speaker 4 (48:52):
Bit over blown.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
He is not cold plays.
Speaker 5 (48:55):
He's been around people that have called plays that have
been great, but he has not been thrown into the
fire yet. And that's quite literally what he's doing. You're
asking a first year defensive coordinator and a second year
head coach to completely revamp the defense entirely. To be
a top fifteen defense means you are above average on
the defensive side exactly one offseason after you were the
(49:19):
worst defense in franchise history. I just don't think that's
there yet. I could see them making marginal improvement. I'm
not saying they're going to be the worst defense times two,
but to be a top fifteen defense that is just
unruly expectations.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
Let me for a team.
Speaker 5 (49:35):
I love Caleb Downs, I love Quinn Williams, I love
Kenny Clark, I love all of the cornerstone pieces you're
putting together on this defense. All of that is said
to be true, but you still don't have a green dot.
You still don't have a linebacker that you trust. You
still don't have a pass rusher outside of Rashan Gary
and a second year jump from Donovan Azraku that you
feel like can get you ten sacks, and even that's
(49:56):
probably asking a lot of those two guys. I don't
think this is a top fifteen defense yet. However, in
two to three years, you've got the framework, you've got
the foundation, and you've got a coordinator that's going to
grow with the position, then you can maybe tell me
this is going to be a top fifteen defense.
Speaker 4 (50:13):
I just don't see it. In twenty twenty six, that
defensive coordinator he quoted one Sun sou all, I needed
to hear a writer of the art of war. That's awesome.
I like it a handbook, a guide to the art
of combat, a military combat.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
I have loved every.
Speaker 4 (50:31):
Move that they've made on the defensive side of the ball.
They are moving different. In my opinion and my uninformed opinion.
I'm just a fan, really genuinely, I don't have inside
information on any of these things.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
I like what they're saying.
Speaker 4 (50:45):
I like the guys that they have. I like the
guys that they picked. Caleb Downs is going to change
the face of this defense. To me, Top fifteen says
you can be fourteen or fifteen because it's top fifteen.
Speaker 1 (50:59):
Yes, they can do it. I'm gonna say this really
quickly because I know we got to get out of here. Yes, absolutely,
they can be top fifteen. I'm qualifying it as such.
I'm not saying they'll be top five. That would be fantastic.
I'm not saying they'll be top ten. That'll be fantastic
as well. I think they fall anywhere between eleven and
fourteen before the season is over. But then we talked
about it at nauseum last season. All the Cowboys. Is
(51:20):
offense needed? Was it above average defense? They're in the
playoffs and maybe making a run. I think when you
look at the pieces, let's just score ahead. In the
circle linebacker that's glaring. You still have to address that
period point blank. If you had addressed that, I'd be
willing to put you in the top ten right now.
But I'm not because I need to see what happens there.
But Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence and Kenny Clark who
wasn't here to start last offseason, Quinn Williams wasn't here
(51:43):
to start last regular season. You have these pieces. Jalen
Thompson comes in. I think he's going to be a
magnificent piece as well. So forth and so on. We'll
see who takes a next step. Savon revel that we'll see.
But the pieces I've named, mixed with not just Christian Parker,
but also the coaching staff behind Christian Parker, I think
that all told. Even when you throw in the glaring
(52:03):
hole at linebacker, which I feel like they'll address after
June first, we'll see. I think that this Cowboys defense,
they're gonna have their hiccups. Christian Parker is gonna have
his growing pains, But before this season is over, I
believe this unit will have galvanized to the point and
will have enough chemistry that we're looking at the stats
and we're looking at their impact on filming, we're saying
this is one of the top fifteen defenses in the league.
(52:25):
I don't think that's a stretch it all.
Speaker 5 (52:27):
So you're saying by the end of the end of
the year, not over the entire course of the year.
So when you look down on NFL stats, you look
down on the NFL stats.
Speaker 1 (52:38):
Yeah, when we get to by the time we get
to Rio, they're not going to be.
Speaker 5 (52:41):
See But that's that's part of the growth there, Like
we're gonna look, we have to allow for and we're
gonna see statistically at the end of the twenty twenty
six season, are they a top fifteen defense or.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
Not by the end of the season.
Speaker 5 (52:53):
Yes, over the course of the year, so they're total
from twenty twenty six, is it at top fifteen.
Speaker 1 (52:59):
D Okay, Yes, I'm still sticking with the yes.
Speaker 4 (53:01):
Yeah. See, I don't think that's the cast.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Because I think more often than not.
Speaker 4 (53:04):
They will I think they'll be closer.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
More often than not they'll put top fifteen production and
on film versus below.
Speaker 5 (53:12):
If they improved ten spots from last year, if they
get to twenty one twenty.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
Two, they're going to improve awesome.
Speaker 5 (53:19):
And this offense can continue fighting the way that they
fought last year and doing what they did. You get
to twenty two and then maybe your top twenty in
turnovers or something like that. I think this is a
playoff team. That's all you need.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
But I don't think top fifteen is possible right.
Speaker 4 (53:36):
This such just I like it.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
Can I say it with much est? I'm trying too much?
Just by the end of the first quadrant. Okay, we
have four games in September. We don't know, schedule hasn't
come on. Y. Yeah, by the end of the first no,
maybe by the end of the first four games. When
we look at this defense, I predict this defense will
be between ten and fifteen. That's my prediction.
Speaker 4 (53:57):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
That's bold eleven, twelve, thirteen or fourteen. They'll be right
there going into game five.
Speaker 4 (54:02):
You know that that linebacker that we can't really discuss
right now. If you get that guy in the building.
Speaker 5 (54:09):
Then then I think we're talking about a top twenty
defense at least.
Speaker 1 (54:12):
Okay, Yeah, I wanted to get engauged on that.
Speaker 5 (54:14):
Yeah, if we're talking about that at least the top
twenty defense, maybe maybe even more.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:18):
Also keep in mind these they don't hear that front office,
listen to cod They don't have that yet.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
These players are already to run through a wall already
for guys like Christian Parker and these these coach.
Speaker 3 (54:27):
Hopes though they haven't been playing games yet.
Speaker 5 (54:30):
Fair but before they haven't been haven't been faced by
another team that's had a great offseason.
Speaker 1 (54:34):
Yea's correct. I'm just saying it's also true. Multiple things
can be true this time last season. Did you get
the same energy for ebra Flus and his stand from players?
Speaker 4 (54:43):
No?
Speaker 1 (54:44):
All right, No, it was never That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (54:46):
All Right, that does it for us here on Talking Cowboys.
Hope you had as much fun as we did here
over the last fifty five minutes. We'll be back next
Tuesday to break it all down for you. For Josh Rodriguez,
Patrick Noci Walker, Chris Beam in the back, I'm Kyle
Yomen saying so long from Talking Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (55:01):
We'll see you next week.
