I'm so excited to be here andI'm so excited that you're here.

It's been so much fun, buttoday we're actually going to
deviate a little bit from ournormal topics and I really want
to lean in and really we're not.
I want to talk about usingstories to build a stronger
brand.
Okay, so we've been talking alot about creating something of

your own over the past weeks,but today I just want to lean
into this brand piece again andhow to leverage your personal
stories to create a strongerbrand, because your personal
stories are, honestly, like yoursecret weapon when it comes to
branding.
It's the difference betweenselling a product versus

creating a brand story.
People will remember.
There's so much connection thatcomes with storytelling.
We buy from people.
We don't buy from just theproducts.
We don't buy from the companies.
We buy from people, and that'swhy stories are so important
when it comes to your brandingLike.
Think about it.

Think about the people that youfollow, the people that you
feel connected to on socialmedia.
People connect with people onsocial media.
People connect with people, notjust products.
Listen, there's this TikTokerthat I have been has come up in
my like for you page and I don'tknow if this is real, but she

(02:37):
is, and I don't know why thiscame up in my for you page, but
it did, and I'm fascinated by itthe way she's telling a story.
She's with her husband who ischeating on her and she knows
that he's cheating on her, buthe doesn't know that she knows
and all she does in her TikToksis show B-roll of her like kind

(02:57):
of like a day in the life, liketaking her kids skiing or taking
her kids to a play part ormaking dinner or doing a craft
or whatever it is, and shewrites the story basically in,
you know, just in an overlay.
So it's kind of like I think Iknow the name of my husband's
mistress, like he, she justtells stories like that.
Now, I'm not saying you need totalk about that stuff, okay,

(03:20):
but it pulls people in.
It's building trust, it'sbuilding relatability for some
people.
It's it's and she talks abouther terrible mother-in-law, like
it's not just the fact thathe's cheating, she's kind of
telling the story of her life asa woman, as a scorned woman.
Well, really, she's not scorned, I guess.
Well, who knows, I don't evenknow.
But you get what I'm saying.
Brands, the people lovecompelling stories and you have

(03:45):
a compelling story.
I'm not saying you need topretend that you're getting
cheated on, okay, but I amsaying like I want you to start
paying attention to how peopleare telling stories and how
you're pulled in.
It's not one of those thingswhere you're like once upon a
time or you don't even need tostart with, let me tell you a
story.
It's just sharing your life.
So some types of stories thatyou could be sharing are why you

started your business, likewhat problem were you solving
For me?
It was so that I didn't have togo back to teaching so I could
do some B-roll of me taking careof my baby, of me making dinner
, of me cleaning the house and Icould tell my story.
I chose you know whatever it is.
I taught for nine years andthen just but tell it in my
story.
I chose, you know whatever itis.
I taught for nine years andthen just but tell it in story
form.

I stayed home so I could.
I started my direct salesbusiness so that I could do
these things, so that I can showpictures or video of me playing
on the ground.
I mean, I don't have a baby nowhe's 18, but you know what I
mean, like me playing with him,me taking him for walks, me
making dinner or cleaning thehouse or whatever it is.
That would be a great way totell your story.
Maybe your story is that youwere tired of walking to your

(04:50):
mailbox and seeing yet morebills that you couldn't pay.
Record yourself walking to themailbox, pulling out your mail.
That's telling a story.
It doesn't have to just be inwords.
Another type of story is acustomer success story.
How has your product or yourexpertise helped someone?
So I actually did this.

(05:10):
Yesterday or two days ago Isent an email out because I was
promoting the challenge, thedigital offer challenge and I
shared a story of one of myprevious students who was with
31.
And she had talked to me andshe had shared with me her kind
of her story and how, what shewhat had come up for her and

(05:33):
when the doors closed and andhow she was so thankful she had
a backup plan.
That was a customer successstory that I shared.
That gives that's storytelling.
What about a transformationstory?
That's the third type of story.
What struggles did you overcomeand how does that relate to
your audience?
How does that inspire youraudience?
You know, we hear or you knowlots of people tell stories

(05:54):
about their weight loss, theirweight loss journey.
People relate to that becausethey're in the struggle phase.
Right, they're like that'swhere I am now and I want to get
to where you are now.
Maybe it's that you had reallybad acne.
That's your struggle phase.
How did you overcome that?
Maybe it's the skincare thatyou sell, maybe it's the makeup
that you sell.
How does that inspire youraudience?
You're not necessarily selling,you're just sharing your story,

(06:18):
but you're selling throughstory.
So some of your questions mightbe like well, okay, when do I
share this?
Like, what do we do?
Because you know, for me,initially I was sharing my story
in the very beginning, when Iwas in direct sales at my home
parties, but now people aren'tdoing home parties as much, so
when do you share your story?
Well, you can share your storywhen you're engaging with new

(06:38):
followers or new leads, helpsthem connect to you.
Maybe when someone says, whyare you doing this?
Like, be ready with your whystory, listen, launching a new
offer, a new product that's justbeen released?
Stories sell facts.
Don't Seriously tell me this.
Like, think about this for asecond.

(06:59):
If you're scrolling throughfacebook or instagram and you
see two posts about the sameskincare product, one is just
like sharing the benefits andthe other shares a story about
how she, as a mom, finally foundsomething that helped her feel
confident in her skin againafter having kids.
Which one are you going to bemost drawn to?
Which one are you going to feellike, okay, I, which one?

(07:20):
Are you going to feel like,okay, I'm going to buy from her?
The one where she shares thestruggles and how she overcame
it?
Sometimes people haveobjections, whether it be
joining your team or whether itbe buying something.
Use real life examples insteadof just giving like a scripted
answer.
Stories will also really boostyour engagement as far as your

(07:45):
content goes.
So think about how you canbecome more of a storyteller.
I have seen a lot ofstorytellers, I think, over on
TikTok and that's why I startedlike kind of falling into TikTok
.
I don't post on TikTok, but Ifind it fascinating the way
people tell stories over there,and I think that's been.

(08:06):
I've been kind of researchingthat.
Now, disclaimer if you decideto do that or maybe you're
already on TikTok man, tiktoksucks me in like no other.
Like I can go to TikTok and belike, oh, I'm just going to
spend 30 minutes on here, yeah,30 minutes.
Go to TikTok and be like, oh,I'm just going to spend 30
minutes on here, yeah, 30minutes.
An hour later I've wasted mytime on TikTok.
So just beware, it can suck youin like big time.

(08:29):
All right, where are you goingto share your story Everywhere
Instagram, facebook stories,reels, live videos, podcast
episodes, sales like all email.
Share it everywhere, okay, andit's not necessarily always the
same story.
It's just become more of astoryteller Sharing examples me

(08:51):
telling you that I am scroll.
I've been sucked into TikTokand how I look at it for story.
That's storytelling.
So let's talk about how to shareyour story effectively.
The first part is the hook.
How can you grab the attentionwith something relatable or
intriguing?
That's what I've been payingattention to on TikTok.
How do people pull me in Astruggle?
Share a struggle.

(09:11):
Share a challenge or afrustration that your audience
also faces.
Going back to the skincare thing, acne Like, people still deal
with acne in their 30s, 40s and50s If that's a challenge or
frustration that you've had andyou know they have, talk about
it.
Talk about the solution.
That's the third part.
What is the product that youused, or what was your insight

(09:32):
from this, or what was thetransformation?
And then include a call toaction like guide them on what
to do next.
Maybe it's to comment on thepost or DM you or sign up for
something.
Then I want you to so, not thenI should say so what I want you
to do is start thinking aboutwhat stories which of like each

(09:55):
type of story.
I want you to come up with someideas.
So your why story, your like acustomer success story, and your
transformation story, and whatI want you to do is and you can
just pick one, pick one andshare it this week.
All right, share it this thisweek.
Tag me so I can see that you'redoing it.
And listen, don't be afraid totry it.

Okay, don't be afraid to justtry different things, because
that's how you figure it out.
That's how you figure it out.
It's doing it messy.
It's doing it messy and nothaving everything perfect, not
having everything amazing, andwe tend to fall back into the

facts, like let me just tell youthe facts about this, rather
than using stories.
But the thing is, is facts tell, stories sell?
If you want more customers oryou want more team members,
you've got to start sharing themoments that made you fall in
love with what you do.
I really want you to thinkabout what was the real reason
that you started your business,because guess what?

(10:59):
That story is going to helpsomeone else be like oh yeah, me
too, but do it in a differentway.
Don't go.
I started this business becauseShare it in story form.
Tell a story.
A friend of mine just shared acarousel.
She shared her story of kind oflike the big aha in her life,
and it was through Carousel, sojust like posts on Instagram,

(11:23):
and it was so fascinating andpulled me in so much because
it's a story and people loveyour story, they want to know
your story.
But share it in such a way thatpeople just get sucked in.
You don't need to start bysaying I'm going to tell you a
story.
Like I said, stories are goingto help you stand out in this
crowded space.
Don't hold back because,remember, people don't just want

(11:45):
to buy a product or join a teamfrom someone that they see
hawking the product.
They want to buy from a personthey know, person they trust.
And if you feel like you'restruggling a little bit in your
business, it could be thatyou're just not storytelling
enough and and you know rightnow one of the big things that

(12:05):
pull people in our day, in thelife and it could just be you
recording yourself putting onmakeup in the morning, making
your bed, taking the kids toschool, making dinner, working,
whatever it is, and just putthat in little, bite-sized
chunks, put it together in avideo and then tell a story.
It doesn't have to be likefirst I do this, second I do
this.
It could just be talking aboutsomething else, like the reason

(12:28):
I chose to stay home or thereason I quit my nine to five
was so that I could be home withmy kids, or so that I could.
Maybe you decided to build thisdirect sales business because
you wanted to travel more.
Record yourself traveling more.
Use images that you've takenfrom vacations before.
Think about it.

(12:49):
Get creative.
Don't get stuck in your head.
I think that's probably thething that gets most people
stuck with storytelling isyou're in your head and you feel
like you might not be doing itthe right way, or you feel like
you don't have any stories andthat's just not true.
I mean, think about all thethings that you've done and, as
you, as you think about it,write them in your notes app or

(13:13):
something so that you can keeptrack of them.
Here's a story that I could usein my content.
Yesterday, caroline asked me.
She said Mom, I just realized,like I just remembered, you're
an immigrant, like you movedhere from England, so you're an
immigrant.
What was it like being animmigrant?
And weirdly, I remembered likethe first moment I walked into
the new school and I was sharinglike with her how excited I was

(13:38):
and how I was anticipating justso much amazingness.
And it actually ended up notbeing amazing and I was teased
and picked on all the things andI got really emotional telling
the story.
But that was a big,transformative part of my life.
It's kind of that like you go inwith this innocence, thinking
everything's amazing and thenit's not and like how do you
handle that?
That would be a great story totell if I was talking about how

(14:02):
sometimes things don't work outor don't end up the way you
think they're going to be.
But there are ways that you canovercome and there are.
That doesn't mean that's theend, like I could use that as a
story.
So what are things that havehappened in your life?
Happen as a mom, happen as aworking for mom, working as like
working full time, whatever.
You have stories, what are they?

(14:24):
And let's start sharing themmore.
Become a storyteller, myfriends.
I guarantee you, if you canstart really leaning into
storytelling, you're going to beattracting so many more people
to you because you're becoming amagnetic brand, and that is
what's so.
Powerful is when people canrelate to what you're talking
about.

(14:44):
