Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to the Direct Sellers Podcast, the podcast
for direct sellers who are readyto get uncomfortable, build
their business and grow a teamwhile changing the face of the
direct sales industry.
I'm your host, rachel Perry.
Join me as we get real and talkabout all the things you need
to kick some serious directsales booty, from overcoming

(00:26):
limiting beliefs to sharing theexact strategies you need to
attract the right people whobecome customers and beg to join
your team.
I've got you covered, girl.
I'm going to be your new BFFwhen it comes to balancing life
and kids while building yourdirect sales business with poise
, peace of mind and, of course,a good set of fake eyelashes.
Let's get started.

(00:48):
Hello, my friends, welcome backto another episode of the
Direct Sellers Podcast.
I'm your host, rachel Perry, and I am so happy that you're
here Today.
We're going to dive in and talkabout something that is you know

(01:09):
what.
Let me take my jacket off.
This always happens.
I forget that I'm wearingsomething that makes a lot of
noise, so let me just take thatoff.
I had to shoo my dog out of theroom because she's wearing a
cone currently, because she hasa hotspot on her paw, and you
know I have two dogs.
One of them has had the conemany, many times because she has
a hotspot on her paw.
And you know, I have two dogs.
One of them has had the conemany, many times because she
just she's an allergic dog, soshe gets skin stuff all the time

(01:32):
.
So she always has this cone, itfeels like, and she just it
doesn't phase her, she justwalks through things.
But Harley, my other dog, she'smy younger dog, I swear she is.
When it comes to this cone, she's walking into things, she's
walking into us, she's myyounger dog, I swear she is.
When it comes to this cone, she's walking into things, she's
walking into us, she's I don'teven know, it's a hot mess and
it's loud.
So she's not in here.

(01:52):
But that's not what we're hereto talk about today.
We are going to dive in justabout into the topic of trusting
yourself.
I think I've probably spokenabout this a little bit on here
before, but there is such powerin trusting yourself and I have,
over the past year and a half, have really sort of done a deep

(02:15):
dive in learning to trust myselfagain, because for the longest
time I didn't, and I think itall started when I left the tag
team and started going out on myown, and I had trusted myself
to make that big decision and Idid it.
And then growing my coachingbusiness was very challenging in

(02:41):
the beginning really for thefirst like four years and I made
some choices.
I joined some coaching programs, I bought some courses, I hired
some coaches, I hired people todo things in my business that I
didn't need to, and I ended upfinding myself in a little bit

(03:02):
of debt and I started reallyjust doubting myself, feeling
like I had put myself there.
I was the problem because ofall the choices that I made.
I had some debt, my businesswasn't growing the way I wanted
it to and I was feeling veryjust down on myself, not like a

(03:23):
woe is me, but like man, rachel, you really can't make great
decisions.
And so I realized that the bigthing to remember here is that
we all make decisions that mightnot be the right decision.
Sometimes it is the rightdecision, but we don't get the

(03:47):
results that we want, andsometimes we're just doing all.
Actually I'm not going to saysometimes all the time we are
just doing the best that we can.
We're just doing the best thatwe can, and I really just want
to dive into that today.
I want you to understand thatyou can trust yourself.

(04:07):
You are a good decision maker.
You do make great decisions.
You do know what you need to do.
You have it within you.
Sometimes it's we have a hardtime trusting yourself because
of our past, maybe because ofwhat people have told us about

(04:29):
ourselves.
Whatever it is, there are manyreasons we end up not trusting
ourselves.
Right, but the reality is isthat when you can begin to trust
yourself to take action, evenwhen you're scared, amazing
things will happen.
Okay, you know, we've beentaught to look outside our

(04:51):
ourself for answers, right, like, oh, if I just buy another
course, or if I just go aheadand hire a coach, or if I just
um, you know share the businessmore with more people, or if I
just get more parties on mycalendar, that's the solution.
But the reality is that'sthat's not the problem.

(05:11):
The problem is is that you justdon't trust yourself because you
already have experience, youalready have the wisdom.
And listen, I am a, obviously Iam a coach, so I I very much
believe that we do need coachesto get us to where we're going
faster.
I always have a coach.
There have been just a fewmonths in the past six years

(05:32):
where I have not had a coach andthose months I sort of
floundered I couldn't think ofthe word.
I floundered a little bitbecause there is such power in
having a coach.
But the reason I say that isthat sometimes we think it's
this and it's that and it's thisand it's that.
When the reality is issometimes we just have to look
within ourselves, because wehave the experience.

(05:52):
You have the experience, youhave the wisdom, you have the
intuition, and sometimes we'reusing the fact that we don't
have a coach, we don't have acourse, whatever it is to rely
on someone to tell us what to do, or our upline sucks or
whatever.
We use that as the reason tonot take action.
But the reality is is thatwe're scared.
We're scared and we don't trustourself.

(06:13):
Here's the thing I want you tothink about Courage comes before
confidence.
I say this to my youngest allthe time because she's like I
just need more confidence, mommy, I just need more confidence.
The reality is is courage comesbefore confidence.
How many times have you heardlike fake it till you make it
All right Right?
Like do it scared and thereason that is so powerful is

(06:36):
because when you do it in spiteof the fear, in spite of feeling
scared, that's how we becomemore confident.
That's how we begin to trustourselves again.
The self-trust grows from smallbrave steps, not perfect plans,
not making the exact rightdecision every single time, but

(06:57):
it starts with you taking smallbrave steps.
Just now, I got off a call withmy expanders.
Expand is a program I have fordirect sellers who are wanting
to make at least 5K a month andwe talked about.
Well, I asked them a questionthat I've never asked them

(07:18):
before.
Before every call we start withwhat's your celebration, what's
your win?
This time I said, well, I saidthat.
But then I said how have youfailed this week?
And they looked at me and theywere like what are you talking
about?
Why are you asking us how wefailed?
And I shared with them.
I said, listen, I read, I readan email the other day and I

(07:42):
know Sarah Blakely's story.
She's the founder of Spanx andcreator of Spanx and she,
basically, when she was young, her dad would ask them all at
the dinner table how have youfailed this week?
And the reason for that wasbecause he wanted them to try
new things.
And if they didn't fail, ifthey hadn't failed, then he said
you're not trying enough newthings.
And so I said that to my girls,to my expanders.

(08:05):
I was like, guys, how have youfailed this week?
And we all, including me, we'relike I have not failed very
much.
We play it safe.
We play it safe because wedon't want to fail.
But, guys, failing is sopowerful.
Failing is how you get to thatsuccess.
It's a necessity, right, it's anecessity.

(08:25):
It's how we learn to trustourselves.
So let's do some things thatyou can do now.
That will help you begin, willhelp you trust yourself even
more.
It can start with somethinglittle, like I'm going to go for
a walk today.
And then you go for a walk andyou're like, see, I tell myself
I'm going to do something and Ido it.
You could swap the words Idon't know with I'll figure it

(08:48):
out, I'll figure it out.
Okay, reflect on past momentswhere you did figure it out, or
anchor into your superpower andwhat you're already good at and
come from that space.
Create a tiny proof point, takeone imperfect action to show

(09:09):
yourself that you can do it.
I love to MC, I love to MCevents and before COVID, I was
on a lot of stages.
I had momentum, I was gettingbooked.
I was on someone's stage.
I would generally find one ortwo people from that event.
They would book me.
It was awesome.
And then COVID happened andthen nobody was doing live

(09:32):
events and then the live eventstarted back up again and I
wasn't in that space of like I'm, I want to go back and MC.
My kids were at a stage in lifewhere I was like you know what?
They kind of need me a littlebit more right now.
Believe it or not, teenagersneed you sometimes a little bit
more than they did when theywere younger.
So I didn't.
And then recently I'm like youknow what, it's time I feel that
nudge.
I feel that nudge I need to,that I need to reach out to

(09:53):
people that I know.
I need to network and be likehey, I'm just putting my name
out there.
If you know of anyone who is,you know, looking for an emcee,
I would love it if you could.
You know, keep me in mind.
And that made me really, reallynervous.
So I decided, okay, I'm doingit today, I'm going to reach out

(10:16):
to one person today.
And I did it, and I had put itoff all week and I did it.
Today.
I'm going to reach out to oneperson today.
And I did it, and I had put itoff all week and I did it.
Yesterday.
I took one imperfect action andI'm beginning to trust myself
even more because I told myselfI was going to do it and I did
it.
So here's what I want you totake away from this you have
everything you need.
You have everything you need totake action, to take imperfect

(10:40):
action.
Okay, you are the person whocan do amazing things.
Start scared.
Here's the thing.
You know everything what to do.
You can make great decisions.
You do make great decisions, and here's why it's so important

(11:02):
to really lean into trustingyourself.
No one else can do it for you, right?
If you're always looking forsomeone else for the answers, or
you're always and I've beenthere, you guys, I have
literally been there I rememberthinking I just need someone to
tell me what to say, or I justneed someone to tell me what
step to take, or I just needsomeone to tell me I'm on the

(11:24):
right track.
But the thing is is if you'realways looking to someone else
or for someone else to give youthe answers.
You're always going to be a fewsteps behind on your own
potential.
We think that we're doing itwrong, right, like we're so
afraid of doing it whatever itis wrong.
But the reality is, is the waywe do it is the right way.

(11:44):
And here's the other thing youcan move so much faster when you
stop waiting.
Clarity doesn't come beforeaction, my friends.
It comes from taking action.
I have been searching.
This might sound totallybizarre, but you guys know I've
talked to you about my newprogram, your Backup Plan, and
it's for direct sellers who areready to not place all their

(12:10):
security in their company, intheir direct sales company.
They're ready to buildsomething of their own as a
backup.
There are some people in therewho work nine to five who are
also ready to build something oftheir own.
There are people in there whodo their direct sales business
full time who are also in there.
But here's the thing I have beenwanting to do that for five
years, but I didn't have clarityaround what it was called.
I've tried a few differentthings.
It didn't.

(12:30):
They didn't fly.
But the clarity came fromtaking action, from messy action
, and I trusted myself enoughand for long enough that I
finally got to that place ofclarity.
You see, self-trust speeds upyour growth because you're no
longer stuck in the overthinking, you're in a place of action.

(12:53):
And that is so powerful becausehere's the thing your business
and your life are really areflection of how much you trust
yourself.
People are drawn to thatconfidence and that certainty.
And remember, you don't getconfidence from waiting.
You get confidence from takingaction.
You get confidence from doingthings in fear, with that fear

(13:16):
fear, I should say not in fear, right.
You gain that confidence fromdoing things when you're scared
right.
Courage comes before confidence.
You've got to be courageousbefore you can have that
confidence right.

(13:36):
And the way to do that is totake action.
And when you trust yourself, others will trust you too.
So many of you who are attend, you know, participate in my
challenges or attend mytrainings or whatever it is, so
many of you will say I justdon't know.
I don't know if I have anythingto offer, or I don't know what
I have to offer.
Or I just don't know.
I don't know if I have anythingto offer, or I don't know what

(13:57):
I have to offer, or I just I getno's, and I'm afraid of the no,
whatever it is.
The thing is is you don't trustyourself, right?
People are drawn to confidenceand certainty, and the way to
get there is to trust yourself.
Instead of chasing someoneelse's formula, instead of
waiting for someone else to tellyou you're doing a good formula

(14:18):
, instead of waiting for someoneelse to tell you you're doing a
good job, and instead ofwaiting for someone else to tell
you what to do, start makingchoices that actually fit you,
because that is where the magichappens, you guys.
When you give yourselfpermission permission to take
action, to take messy actionself trust is built.
It's not found, it's not paidfor, it's built.

(14:41):
Okay, you guys, I hope this hithome for you.
I hope that you are ready tostart the process of trusting
yourself again, because that, myfriends, is where all that
power will come from.
Next week, we're going to diveinto your possibilities, the
possibilities that come fromallowing yourself to believe.

(15:05):
Okay, so I hope you'll meet meback here next week for another
