Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to the Direct
Sellers Podcast, the podcast
for direct sellers who are readyto get uncomfortable, build
their business and grow a teamwhile changing the face of the
direct sales industry.
I'm your host, rachel Perry.
Join me as we get real and talkabout all the things you need
to kick some serious directsales booty From overcoming
(00:26):
limiting beliefs to sharing theexact strategies you need to
attract the right people whobecome customers and beg to join
your team.
I've got you covered, girl.
I'm going to be your new BFFwhen it comes to balancing life
and kids while building yourdirect sales business with poise
, peace of mind and, of course,a good set of fake eyelashes.
Let's get started.
(00:48):
Hello, my friends, welcome backto another episode of the
Direct Sellers Podcast.
I'm your host, rachel Perry, and today we are going to dive a
little bit more into what itmight look like for you to build
your own digital product, because here's the thing you've
(01:11):
built a strong business.
I'm talking to the leader.
I'm talking to the leader rightnow who maybe has used to have,
like, a really good paycheck.
Maybe it was between five and10,000 a month, or five and
15,000 a month, and now yourpaycheck has gotten smaller
(01:32):
because your teams aren'tworking as well, and you know
what.
That's okay, all right, becauseyou've led teams, you've made
the sales.
But here's what most leadersdon't realize the knowledge and
experience that you have gainedin your direct like, from your
direct sales business, my friend, that is a product in itself.
(01:54):
So today we're going to talkabout why more leaders need to
be creating their digitalproducts and why it might be the
smartest move.
We're also going to talk aboutbecause I have talked to quite a
few leaders who already havethe idea, have already started
creating their digital product, and if that's you, I am here to
help you fast track it so thatyou can start making money now.
(02:19):
Because here's the thing andthe reason I'm speaking to
leaders is because oh, I seethis over and over and over
again.
Maybe you're in your top 10,15% of your company, you've got
loyal customers, you've got adecent sized team.
It may have dwindled some rightLike.
It may have reduced, and youknow you've made good money
(02:41):
before.
Maybe you're not making as muchnow, but still, even though
it's still, you know you, you'vemade good money before.
Maybe you're not making as muchnow, but still, even though
it's still, you know it's stillworking for you.
It's not the same, it's not howit used to be, and you have this
little whisper, like thislittle whisper that's like, ah,
it's not as much fun as it usedto be.
I'm feeling frustrated, or I'mfeeling tired, or this is like
it doesn't fill my cup Like itused to.
(03:02):
You're getting more and morefrustrated with your audience
Sorry, not your audience, yourteam.
What Can I talk?
I think so.
I'm just putting on likechapstick, because my lips are
so chapped right now and I gotdistracted in putting on the
chapstick.
Okay, but maybe you have thatlittle whisper, maybe you are
(03:26):
thinking, gosh, this just isn'tfilling my cup the way it used
to.
I don't, I don't love it asmuch as I used to.
Sometimes we become sort ofdisheartened.
We start seeing the truth, westart seeing how people are
doing things, we start seeinghow the company is doing things
or how fellow leaders are doingthings, and we're like you know,
I'm just not loving that, I'mnot loving that.
(03:49):
So basically, if that's you, Iwant you to know you're not
alone.
You're not alone.
You can still be committed.
You can still be committed toyour direct sales business.
But we need to acknowledge thatsomething is shifting and if
you're smart, if you're one ofthe smart leaders, it's time to
(04:09):
think ahead.
All right, let's start thinkingahead.
Creating a digital productdoesn't mean that you need to
leave your company.
It doesn't mean that you needto leave your team.
It just means that you'reowning your expertise in a new
way.
It gives you options, and I'mgoing to give you some examples
today of what that might looklike.
What does that digital productlook like?
Now, if you're like Rachel, Ijust need more ideas, dm me 75
(04:35):
and I will send you my digitalproduct vault.
It's 75 ideas just to get youthinking about things that you
could be creating.
But here's what we need to talkabout.
We need to bust a myth.
We need to bust the myth acouple of myths that digital
products have to be complicatedbecause they don't.
You guys, I started small.
(04:58):
I started with a mini courseand I sold it for $19.
Some other things that you cando as well.
I mean, here's the thing thechances are is that you're
already doing this, you'realready teaching it, you're
already in it, like you, youprobably already have it, or at
least you.
(05:18):
It won't take you too long tocreate it, and what I'm seeing
is so many direct sellers getcaught up in the creation part
of it when really, like, we canbe creating this product pretty
quickly.
Yes, it needs to look pretty, but you can figure that out,
you're you're a freaking leader.
You can figure these things out.
(05:39):
It's we need to get it outthere, and I teach leaders how
to create and sell a digitalproduct in 30 days or less.
You just have to be willing totake action.
So let's just talk about someideas right now, just some
different ideas, just to getyour brain going in that
direction.
So let's start with becauseyou're a leader, you are an
(05:59):
expert in this industry.
So here are some examples youcould create.
You could create a script packlike scripts for follow ups that
actually work, based on what'sworked for you.
Maybe you have been reallygreat at recruiting.
Now I want to say this even ifyou're not great at recruiting
right now, but you have beengreat at recruiting in the past,
(06:20):
you can still.
You are still the expert inthat area.
It just needs you to know that.
So you could do like create arecruiting challenge or an
onboarding system for newmembers.
Chances are, you already haveit right, like you probably
already have it.
So what could you?
Just recreate it and sell it.
(06:41):
What about how to plan a monthof content workshop?
You could do a paid workshop.
Now, I understand you can'tcharge your downline, but guess
what you can charge other people.
What about like?
Maybe, if you've had like, youare awesome at doing parties you
always have been.
You're big into theme nights.
Why not teach that?
Why not create, like, a themenight playbook?
(07:02):
Or maybe you're really, reallygood at systems.
I'm telling you right now thereare a lot of people who aren't.
What if you create, like, asystems and tracking template
bundle?
Okay, the list goes on and onand on.
Maybe it's a customer careemail sequence, or maybe it's a
mini course on how you hithowever much in sales.
(07:22):
Whatever it is like, whateveryou feel that you are good at in
your business as a leader, youcan turn that into something.
If you've figured something outin your business whether it's
customer retention, teamtraining, content planning,
whatever it is there is someonebehind you who is struggling.
Right, that's your product.
You've walked ahead.
(07:43):
You've walked ahead of thesepeople.
You only need to be one or twosteps ahead, you guys.
When I started the tag teamwith Amanda, we were only one or
two steps ahead.
We had developed the Facebookparty formula and we had doubled
our sales.
We were teaching people how toparty on Facebook.
We kept updating the Facebookparty formula too.
(08:04):
It wasn't like the finalversion the moment we started
selling it.
That's just how it is.
So let's also talk about maybeyou're just not feeling becoming
kind of a coach or creatingproducts to help in the space as
a leader.
What, if you love maybe you'rein the health and fitness and
wellness space you could create, like a weekly meal plan
(08:28):
template and grocery list.
Maybe you could create a fiveor a 10 day clean eating guide
or a 30 day clean eating guide.
What about a workout calendar?
Or maybe you offer coachinglike an add on coaching.
You know how a lot of Beachbodyway back when, beachbody
(08:48):
coaches would often add like youcan join my Facebook group or
you can join my coachingmembership for the month and
they would get coaching aroundtheir nutrition and exercise.
Why not do that?
You could create a journaltemplate or a mindset tracker.
All of these are things thatyou could charge for, so like,
let's say, a customer purchasesfrom you or a mindset tracker.
All of these are things thatyou could charge for.
So like, let's say, a customerpurchases from you or they are a
(09:10):
monthly subscriber, you couldsay, if you want to add $7 a
month, you will also get theweekly meal plan template and
each week I'll send you a newone, or something like that.
Let's think out of the box.
Maybe you are in the beautyindustry skincare, makeup Okay,
what if you did something like aconfident?
Maybe your ideal person is aworking mom, maybe she owns her
(09:33):
own business.
You could do like a confidenton camera or confident in the
workplace or something that'slame.
Don't do that but where youshow these moms how to look
polished and put together onsocial media.
Or maybe you're doing likeone-on-one beauty consults where
you help them figure out theirnew routine, their new makeup
(09:57):
routine, and you show them howto apply makeup.
Or maybe it's a mini course onlike something about helping
them get their glow up.
You sell skincare and you sellmakeup, but you also offer like
one-on-one services for theirglow up.
Like, let me personally helpyou build your, create your glow
up.
That would be so fun.
(10:18):
My gosh, that would be so fun.
Maybe you are.
Maybe you sell like organizers, tupperware I mean 31, but not
31 because it's not aroundanymore cleaning right or decor,
home decor.
You could do a challenge.
You could do like a five-daychallenge I wouldn't do any
longer than five days and itcould be like declutter, like a
boss challenge and they have topay to be a part of the
(10:40):
challenge and you basicallyguide them through this
challenge on decluttering theirhome in five days or less.
What if you did like a kitchenorganization blueprint with
links and visuals and all thethings that they can do and they
can get it for like $9.
If you love Canva and you loveto help people like label people
(11:05):
love labels, right, or theylove planners and things like
that, maybe you could createsomething like that.
There are so many options, guys.
There are so many options I'mnot done let's talk about.
I was talking to someone inStampin' Up this week, so here's
some.
Here's some ideas you couldlike the crafters like if you're
a crafter ideas you could iflike the crafters like if you're
(11:29):
a crafter, what if you offeredlike a monthly project
membership or a monthlysomething where you're going to
guide them through a project?
Maybe it includes the materials, maybe it doesn't depends on
how much it is.
You could do like a craftingfor kids.
I mean, it's the summer, right, like what if you put together
an activity pack for moms in thesummer?
Y'all these are digitalproducts that you don't have to
(11:49):
charge very much for.
But listen, if you sold 10 at$7, that's $70.
You've just made Really notputting in a ton of work.
I'm just saying here's thebottom line.
If you figured something out,or if it feels obvious to you,
it's not to someone else andthat, my friends, is where your
product is, that's where yourgenius is.
(12:12):
So now let's talk about thepower of having something that's
yours and this is not new.
I've talked about this before.
But y'all, I've been talking toa lot of leaders recently and
there is, across the board, Ithink there's this like
frustration and exhaustion, andI think there's this prompting
maybe, that you're, you'regetting like, you're like.
I don't know if I can do thisfor another 10 years, or I don't
(12:33):
know if I can do this foranother five years.
I don't know if I can do thisfor another year.
I'm over it.
The beauty of creating a digitalproduct now is that it's
something that you own.
You don't need to rely on yourteam to show up in order to make
a sale.
You just rely on yourself.
You don't have to wait oncorporate to change your comp
plan in order for you toincrease how much you make a
(12:57):
month.
You don't need to worry aboutcorporate changing the comp plan
and that's going to affect youeven more.
You can create this once andsell it over and over and over
again.
I just talked about how, whenAmanda and I created the
Facebook party formula, thefirst one that we created was
not the final one.
Well, the first one was $19.
(13:17):
Eventually, we re-upped it, were-recorded all the things and
we ended up selling it for $400.
So it's a process.
What you start with isn't whatyou end with, and that's okay.
But you can keep selling itover and over and over again,
all right, and you can monetizeyour brain, your ideas, not just
(13:39):
your time, when you're incontrol of this.
This is going to literallychange your business.
Okay, it's good.
Now, control of this.
This is going to literallychange your business.
Okay, it's going now.
Don't get me wrong.
It is effort in the beginningbecause you have to create it,
but you guys, it's not that bad,I, and then, if you work with
me to do it.
I literally give you templates,I literally guide you through
all of this.
(13:59):
But listen, if you are, andlisten if you've already come up
with an idea.
I want to really encourage you.
I think I need to do a podcaston this, but I'm going to
encourage you to take action.
Let's not sit around and belike I'm thinking about it yeah,
I don't, let's just do the dangthing, because what will it
(14:20):
hurt?
And I am taking this adviceright now.
I've been meaning to do asecret podcast for months, you
guys, months, and I keepchanging the topic.
I keep changing what it's goingto be about, and now I'm done.
I'm done.
We're not doing this anymore.
We are recording it.
It's going to happen, okay,it's going to be called beyond
(14:40):
the team and it's all.
It's literally going to guideyou through the process of
creating your digital product.
I mean, and it's free, why haveI not done that?
I don't know, but I'm doing it,and so are you.
You're going to do your thing, okay, maybe you don't know where
to start, though.
Maybe you are like Rach, thisis a great idea and all, but I
(15:00):
don't know where to start.
Well, yes, you do.
You're just telling yourselfthat you don't.
Okay, you come up with the ideaand you get started.
This is the easy part, you guys, and this is what I walk my
clients through.
I walk you through how to takewhat you already know or your
idea or maybe you've evencreated a digital product in the
past I help you take thatup-level, it like let's elevate
(15:24):
it and let's market it and getit out there, right, so that we
can turn it into something thatsomeone will pay for.
And here's the thing you don'tneed to be techie, you don't
need to be a coach, you don'tneed to be an expert In fact,
you probably are an expert now.
In fact, you are not.
Probably you are an expert.
You just need a message and amethod.
(15:44):
That's it.
That's it, and a method that'sit.
That's it.
So, listen, if you are curiousand you're like okay, rach, like
I've been sitting on this idea,I am done thinking about it, I
am ready to take action, thenthis might be for you.
So, listen, you've alreadyproven that you can sell.
You've already proven that youknow how to lead.
Now it's time to turn somethinginto your, or turn that into
(16:08):
something that's yours, okay.
So if you're like Rachel, let'stalk more.
I want to know more.
Just DM me.
Just DM me on Instagram andjust say Rachel, I listened to
your podcast today.
I'd love to know how can wework together and I'm going to
help you.
I'm going to help you buildthat digital product.
Okay, listen, you have got this, and I've been talking about
this a lot recently, and thereason for it is because I'm
(16:31):
really so.
I wish that you could see what Isee, and that is that it can be
so simple to create moresecurity in your life.
It can be so simple to createsomething that's going to bring
you joy rather than completeexhaustion and frustration.
I'm not telling you it's all.
(16:52):
Don't get me wrong, it's notall.
You know roses, okay, butsomehow there's something that's
just so awesome when you'relike this is mine, I don't have
to report to anyone, this iscompletely mine.
I don't have to worry aboutwhat compliance is thinking.
I don't have to.
This is mine and I can do withit.
What I want to do, so myencouragement to you is to
(17:14):
really start leaning into your, just those little tugs that
you're feeling right now.
Really start thinking about it.
If you haven't thought about itbecause, friend, it is so
important to create something ofyour own.
I really feel like you havebeen built for something more.
I don't believe that directsales is your end game.
So we'll end on that note.
(17:35):
Hope this was helpful.
I look forward to seeing youback here for another episode of
the Direct Sellers Podcast.
