(00:48):
Hello, my friends, welcome backto another episode of the
Direct Sellers Podcast.
I'm your host, rachel Perry, and I am so happy to be back
here for another week.
I hope you guys had a great 4thof July.
(01:08):
If you're in the US, I hope youhad a great Canada Day, if
you're in Canada, and if you'relistening from somewhere else, I
hope you're just enjoying life.
I hope you are enjoying thesummer.
Okay, so listen.
Today we're going to talk about.
We're going to have a heart toheart.
Okay, so listen.
Today we're going to talk about.
We're going to have a heart toheart.
Okay, we're going to have aheart to heart about something
(01:28):
that I'm seeing a lot in thisindustry, the direct sales
industry.
A lot of you are starting tothink I would really like to
have another stream of income.
Some of you work full time andyour network marketing income is
on the side.
That's kind of your side gig.
But you're thinking you knowwhat I'm either want to retire
(01:49):
from my nine to five or I justwant to quit and I'm seeing that
my network marketing businessisn't necessarily as a sure
thing as it used to be.
Or maybe you're just noticing achange because your income,
your commission checks, reallyhaven't been what they used to
be.
Or maybe you're just kind ofgetting tired of it and you want
(02:10):
to do something else and youwant something of your own.
But some of the thoughts thatmight be going through your head
are things like well, I'm notan expert at anything, or I
don't have any special skills toteach.
Or who am I to charge money forsomething that I have right,
that I know.
I'm just a network marketer.
I don't know enough aboutanything else.
You guys have heard my storyabout how I kind of went through
(02:32):
that myself just a few monthsago.
Like what do I have to offer?
Hi, rachel, you have built amultimillion dollar company.
You've built a six figurecompany.
Like you, have many skills tooffer.
But the thing is, is y'all wetell ourselves these lies, but
we're going to stop ourselvesfrom doing that because it's
complete BS.
Let's talk about you.
You have been developingexpertise for years.
(02:53):
You have skills that peopledesperately want to learn.
You've overcome challenges thatothers are still struggling
with.
You even have knowledge thatcould actually save someone
months or even years of trialand error.
And today we're going to unpackall of that expertise you've
been building without evenrealizing it.
We're going to talk about whyyou can't see your own value and
(03:15):
, most importantly, how to startmonetizing what you already
know.
Because the truth is, my friend, your biggest obstacle is not
your lack of expertise.
It's not that you don't haveanything to offer.
Your biggest obstacle is thatyou're not recognizing what you
have to offer.
So let me tell you why thishappens.
(03:37):
Network marketers aren't.
A lot of times the ladies thatI'm working with have a hard
time seeing where they shine, because what happens is, once
you're able to see where youshine.
Once you understand it, you canstart to shift it.
I have to say that I think oneof the problems is that you're
(03:58):
used to selling someone else'sproducts and someone else's
system.
You've been trained to talkabout your company, the plan,
all the things, but you've neverhad to position yourself as the
expert because the company wasthe expert or your upline was
the expert right.
Another thing you may think thatbeing an expert in something
(04:18):
means that you have to havecertain certifications or a
degree or years of formaltraining, things like that.
It's not true.
Some of the most successfulcoaches and course creators out
there have no formal training, but they do have experience and
results.
I have to tell you, when I wasa teacher, I went to school to
become a teacher.
I went to four years of schooland then I did a master's, but
(04:42):
do you know where I learned themost?
It was in the classroom.
It was doing the thing that Iwas learning to do.
Okay.
So I'm here to tell you thatyour experience is your
authority.
It is your certification, okay, the next reason it's hard to
see where you shine is thatyou've been in sort of this
(05:04):
learning mode for so long.
You're constantly learning fromyour upline.
You're going to trainings, you're reading personal
development books, you'relistening to podcasts.
When you're always learning,it's hard to see that you also
have something to teach.
Maybe you compare your insideto everyone else's outside so
you see other people's amazingthings, because what happens is
(05:26):
a lot of the leaders in thenetwork marketing industry have
built things of their own.
They've built digitalbusinesses of their own, and you
may see that and think I couldnever do that, but the thing is
is you don't see their messingbeginnings.
You don't see their failures.
You don't see their learningcurve.
You just see their now.
And what feels easy to you, myfriends, feels impossible to
(05:51):
someone else.
So the things that you donaturally, like showing up on
social media consistently orhaving conversations with
strangers or bouncing back fromthe nose, they may feel normal
to you, but to someone who'snever done that, or for someone
who has different, is at adifferent stage in their direct
sales business, those are huge, intimidating skills, and it may
(06:12):
not even be in their directsales business, it may just be
in whatever you can teach.
The thing is is you don't haveto value your own transformation
right, or you don't value yourown transformation.
You think, oh you know, I justI used to not be as confident
and now I am, or I just learnedto manage my time better.
(06:33):
But what you don't realize isthat your journey from not being
confident to being confident,or from being overwhelmed to
having your whole systemorganized, or from having so
much doubt about yourself andwhether you could do it, to
actually believing that you canthat's incredibly valuable to
someone else who's at thebeginning of that journey.
And here's what I want you tounderstand.
(06:55):
Every struggle you've overcomeis expertise.
Every skill you've developed isvaluable.
Every transformation you'veexperienced is something someone
else desperately wants toachieve.
I just want you to take amoment to hear that Every
(07:15):
struggle you've overcome isexpertise.
Every skill that you'vedeveloped is valuable, and every
transformation you'veexperienced is something someone
else desperately wants toachieve.
So let's talk about thisexpertise.
Let's talk about the hiddenexpertise.
I've been calling it yoursecret 5K superpower.
(07:36):
So what is that secret, thathidden superpower that you have
that can translate into anadditional 5 to 10K a month?
Let's talk about confidence andmindset work.
You've had to overcome fearsabout talking to people, sharing
products, putting yourself outthere.
But so many things right.
You've worked on your moneymindset.
(07:57):
You've worked through beliefsabout what's possible, your
self-worth that's literally whatcoaches charge thousands of
dollars to help people with.
Or maybe you love havingconversations with strangers.
I talked to some girls in myExpand program today and they
are great at havingconversations with strangers.
I talked to some girls in myexpand program today and they
are great at havingconversations.
(08:18):
They know how to build rapport.
They know how to handleobjections.
They know how to close sales.
They know how to not be pushy.
They understand the psychologyof why people buy and how to
present solutions to problems.
Those are incredible businessskills.
Maybe you're more of like youkind of fall in love with the
(08:39):
social media piece, so maybeyou've learned how to show up
consistently.
You create content that getsengagement.
You've built an audience.
Maybe you are a greatstoryteller.
Guess what Social mediamanagers can charge like 2000
plus per month per client.
Maybe time management andproductivity is more your jam.
(09:02):
So maybe you figured out how tobuild a business while managing
a family.
Or maybe you figured out how tobuild a team and build a
business while still workingyour full-time job.
You've learned to prioritize.
You've learned to batch.
You've learned how to make themost of your limited time.
That's a skill that you cancharge for.
Seriously, you can build abusiness around that.
(09:25):
What about all the personaldevelopment and growth that
you've done?
You can read the books, you'vedone the inner work, you've
learned to push throughdiscomfort and you've learned
how to take action despite yourfear.
I hope that my students can saythat, because that's what I
really really work on.
But you understand what ittakes to change habits, shift
mindset and create lastingtransformation.
(09:47):
And that, my friends, ismonetizable Literally.
If you have read personal, likeall the books that you've read,
all the podcasts that you'velistened to, all the trainings
that you've purchased, guys, you're building expertise.
I could go literally.
I could go on and on.
I'm going to do a couple more, but I just want you to
understand, like you do haveexpertise that you just don't
(10:08):
realize yet.
Maybe you have a great team, maybe you are feeling so proud
of what you've built and, by theway, if you are a leader, I
really am going to encourage youto lean into building another
income stream of your own, because you have the most to
lose if something happens withinyour company, right, like if
(10:30):
your company suddenly changestheir compensation plan or they
decide to just become affiliatesinstead of like network
marketing or MLM, like you dohave the most to lose.
So it's most important for youto build up something else.
But maybe, guys, I cannot eventell you if you have built a big
(10:51):
team, a successful team, evenif they're not making as much as
they used to.
That is an incredible skillthat people will pay for.
You've developed these coachingskills without even realizing
it, y'all.
I'm serious.
Like this list could go on andon, and on, and on and on.
You're not just a networkmarketer.
You are someone who hasdeveloped so many skills, so
(11:13):
many skills that covers so manyareas, and I just want you to
understand that you do have somuch to offer.
Let me give you some examples.
Like you've heard my story.
I was a teacher.
I spent years in networkmarketing.
I built my team.
I built my confidence.
I learned how to show upconsistently.
I learned how to do things thatI even when I was scared.
(11:34):
I learned how to handlerejection right or how to build
relationships.
I learned how to build adigital business.
I learned all on my own how todo that, and now I help network
marketers do the same.
I help network marketers godown that same path that I went
down building their networkmarketing business while also
(11:55):
building an additional stream ofincome.
The journey that I took fromstruggling network marketer to
where I am now y'all that'sexpertise.
Let's talk about Alicia.
Alicia is one of my expandstudents.
She was a top leader in hercompany for a long time.
She developed amazing skills inleadership, team building,
social media, businessmanagement and now she runs a
(12:19):
boutique.
She also manages social mediaaccounts for two different
businesses, while she's stillbuilding her network marketing
business.
And the reason she's able to dothat is because she learned all
these skills.
She is a retired teacher andshe was like listen, I'm
retiring but I'm not dead yet.
She didn't say that, I justsaid that.
(12:41):
But the thing is is she's likeI still got lots of life to live
and I still have skills, likeit's time for me to make some
money and that's what she'sdoing.
And it's amazing.
Neither one of us positionedourselves as the world's leading
expert in anything, but werecognize the skills that we
have, the transformations thatwe went through, and we
recognize that we had, you know, skills that were of value to
(13:03):
other people.
So here's what you need tounderstand you don't need to be
the best in the world, you don'tneed to be the best in your
company.
You don't need to be the bestat anything.
You just need to be a few stepsahead of someone else and
willing to turn around and helpthem up, because someone out
there is struggling withsomething that you've already
figured out.
Someone is afraid of somethingyou've already overcome.
(13:26):
There's someone out there andmore than one someone who wants
to become the person you'vealready become.
That's your expertise andthat's your opportunity.
So maybe you're listening andyou're like this is great and
I'll rage, but how do I evenknow, where do I even start to
figure out what skills I couldturn into an extra stream of
income?
(13:47):
So I want you to look at yourtransformation story.
Where were you three years agoversus who you are now?
I have a student in my expandprogram who, when she started
working with me, she was juststarting over.
She was kind of starting herbusiness again.
So, basically, from scratch,fast forward.
We think it's four years, threeor four years.
She's now got ranked up manytimes.
(14:11):
She's going to conference witha team.
She's taking 10 of her leaderswith her.
She has transformed.
That journey is incrediblyvaluable to someone who's still
at the beginning.
How did she change it?
What changed?
What did she do?
Okay, I want you to think aboutwhat people ask you for help
(14:32):
with.
Like, do friends come to youfor advice about confidence,
maybe.
Or do they come to you foradvice on how to organize?
Or do they come to you foradvice on how to like time
management?
Or do they come and ask you foradvice on relationships or
social media?
Or like what is it?
Things that people naturallyask you about are clues to your
(14:53):
expertise.
Also, consider what feels easyto you now but used to be hard.
I mean, you can use it as thisis an example, but you know,
when you first start working out, you can't lift as heavy as
after a year of working out, andthat's the same for you.
What is easy for you now, butused to be really hard?
What do you do now?
Without thinking?
And it used to be somethingthat you would like.
(15:16):
Oh my gosh, I'm like obsessedover this.
For me, it's like speaking infront of people when I was in
high school.
I was so, even at college, likeI didn't love speaking in front
of people.
Now you can't take a mic frommy hand.
Like, I will find a mic and acrowd and I will get up there.
Look at your biggest strugglesthat you've overcome.
(15:36):
What have you struggled with inthe past?
What was it that you'veovercome?
That struggle to strength storyis an area of expertise.
Right, there are so many thingsthat you have to offer.
Ask yourself, what would someonepay to avoid the pain that you
went through?
What is it?
(15:57):
I know I've talked about this, like I was actually talking to
one of my clients yesterdayabout this.
I have really bad eczema and itlike recently it's been awful,
like so bad and it's on my handsand like it even woke me up in
the middle of the night a coupleof nights ago because it was,
and that that doesn't usuallyhappen, but I was so
(16:17):
uncomfortable I would have paidwhatever it took to get
something to stop the itch.
Right, you have something too.
What would someone pay to avoidthe pain or what?
What is the pain that you wentthrough that someone would pay
for, for the solution?
Listen, the key is to stopthinking that you're not good
enough or that you don't havesomething to offer and to start
(16:40):
looking at yourself and lookingat your experiences that you
could help someone else workthrough.
So this is what I want you todo I really want you to take an
inventory.
I want you to think about this.
I want you to think about whatskills do you have?
What have you overcome?
What are all the things Okay?
And I want you to shift thatmindset from I don't have
(17:03):
anything to offer to I do havesomething to offer and start
brainstorming with yourself Likewhat are some things that I
could do?
Because, listen, what you have, people need.
People need what you have.
We just have to package themand make them look pretty and
find the people who need it.
(17:23):
Okay, listen, if you would likemy digital vault, it's like a

ideas.
