Speaker 1 (00:00):
Know that, hey gets just.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
As you were listening to the Fan Morning show on
Sports Radio ninety three five and one oh seven five
the Fan.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Uh, gorgeous morning out at Legends Golf Course here in
the southern tip of Indianapolis, the region out here, and it.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
Is a terrific day for golf.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
It's that beautiful time, Kevin Bowen and James Boyd early
in the morning.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Sun has just come up.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
You look out over a pristine golf course with the
appropriate trees and shrubbery and the greens and the sand
and everything, and you've just got a little bit of
mist rising up from the ground.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Like this is absolute perfect time of day, is it not.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah, I'm glad I'll do it to make it back
from Baltimore in time. Look across see the beautiful face
of Kevin bow early in the morning. But uh, it's
been nice and honestly, driving up, I was just hoping
that the fall clear up a little bit so people
can have a good, nice day of greens.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
Well, I'm glad I'm on the other side of the
table because right now I might be approaching midnight. Boys,
Oh what's going on? This makes me happy? I love
watching well, I love talking to YouTube. I love obviously
being so fortunate and lucky to have this job and
talk sports from seven to ten am Monday through Friday.

(01:21):
We got a big one tonight hear in about twelve hours,
so they'll be kicking off. But more than anything, I
love watching a golf course come to life. And this
is absolutely heaven right now. I should have brought the clubs,
right I mean you didn't even put them in your back?
Well no, I mean like brought.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Them up here? Okay, can I got during the break?
I might go get mine. I brought mine, so who
knows that good?

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Look at these great trophies we have here for our
winners today. Can we show these on the YouTube camp?

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Can you reach out?

Speaker 5 (01:45):
Can you reach that man who needs a clear jug
at the British Open we got this, show it over
fan Golf Invitational here. Look at this. This is like
a mini Larry O'Brian trophy stuff right there. Look at
that mark. Can you see them on the YouTube chat?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
It does look no one on our staff is eligible
to win that, by the way, No one on staff
eligible way. Anyway, we're out here with the Franciscan Foundation
rate raising a lot of great money for those folks,
and they do so much good across the community. We'll
tell you all about that as the day goes along.
We got a ton of sports to talk about. Obviously,
you're back from Baltimore. James got back safely yesterday. You

(02:20):
missed a near brawl in the studio between Cabin and
Mark yesterday over a now discontinued beverage called Mondo.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
So I do have questions about this, Kevin, because I
saw you post that they might have been at Low's,
and I felt like one so'd you trust that?

Speaker 5 (02:36):
Is that a real Google search?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Not that I doubt that you are trying to find
these things, But man, are we buying drinks from Lows?

Speaker 6 (02:42):
That a thing?

Speaker 5 (02:43):
Well, that's a low supermarket. To be clear, I.

Speaker 7 (02:46):
Didn't have a market out of the area in Tela.

Speaker 8 (02:50):
Let's be fair. It's in Texas.

Speaker 7 (02:52):
Oh, it's in Texas.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
I really don't want to spend a ton of time
on this yesterday because we did a lot, but I
do want to say I'm still I left the show
with even more concerns than I addressed with you near
the end of the show, Kevin, if this product was
actually discontinued in twenty twenty two and someone still can
find it somewhere online. Are you Is that a product
you're still willing to ingest into your body?

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Jeff, I've licked my golf ball on the golf course
to clean it. You know how many pesticides are on
that golf ball. You know what I put in my
body over thirty five years on this earth, and no
I know extra happily happily consume a chilled Mando once.
Mark Dighton actually is a man of his word. In
response to the bet that was made, Man, I you
know we do not need to rehash this for three hours.

(03:36):
I'm disappointed by two things, Mark not being a man
of his word and Mark going behind my back to
text my wife.

Speaker 8 (03:41):
I'm disappointed that I don't own a DeLorean to go
back in time to buy you these discontinued drinks.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
See.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
He said innocently enough that he contacted your wife because
you had said your mother in law had them, and
so he was trying to get a direct line on them.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Contact my wife sounds like he wrote her a letter
in the mail. He texted it her behind my back
is what he did. No, and it was right in
front of your face. You just didn't see it behind the.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Desk, all right, So anyway, we'll put that to bed.
We'll wait for the mando to arrive, if it ever does.
Legends Golf Course, you've played here before, Kevin, You and
I played here before when we used to take listeners.
We got to start that next year. We'll take a
listener golf in every month next year, Jeff. That Yes,
that was a glorious day you, me and Kirk. If
I remember correctly, over here, ereak.

Speaker 5 (04:24):
Nine twenty seven holes at the lovely Legends property down
here in Franklin. And he had Robert Montgomery, Knight's favorite course,
if I'm not mistaken. Back in the day used to
host the state finals. So as much as my memories
with you and Kirk were great, I'll probably have to
put the state final memory slightly above that. So yes, awesome,
awesome place. Really happy to have everybody come out here again.

(04:46):
Ten thirty, we'll get things started. I can't wait, cannot wait.
Looks like a beautiful day. And boy, we got a
full one tonight. James Boyd, we're gonna have to brew
the brew the midnight oil a little bit.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Here, definitely, I mean that's what you signed up for
when you do these times the shows and choose this career.
But I am excited to finally see some actual real football.
I think I have an article coming out later today
in the first literal sentence is we're all skeptics and
haters this time of year because every time a player
that's not established has a pretty good day in training camp,

(05:18):
like Adi Mitchell had in the joint practice against the Ravens,
the first thing someone is gonna say is, well, it's
not a real game. And honestly, I might be a
hater myself because I think that often when it comes
to players who have to prove themselves. And so I've
listed players coming out later today of who I think
has the most to gain or lose for that matter,
throughout the preseason, and on top of that, at least
give some valid some some credit to perhaps a few

(05:41):
players who might be breaking out for the Colts this year.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Well it's gonna be fun to watch.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Just keep in mind, I think the teams probably get
more information on a lot of their players from those
joint practices because, as we've talked about for years and
years and years, and most people know, you come out tonight.
And if you're the quarterback, for example, say Anthony Richardson,
that first quarter and a half going to some.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Really basic defenses.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
You know you got to figure out, am I plan
a four to three or three four which you already
know going in?

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Is it going to be single high safety? Is it
going to be double safety.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
There's not a lot of Hey, we're going to show
you a bunch of stunts and trick you and do
things like that. It's I think order of operations is
really important in a game like tonight. Can the quarterback
get to play into the huddle, can he communicate it quickly?

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Can he put the.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Guys in the right spot where they're supposed to be,
make sure that the guy is in motion at the
right time, all those kinds of things. So there's value
to be gained from it, but it's it's not football
at what I would call an NFL high level.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
Kevin Well, No, definitely. Not one month from today the
Colts will play the regular season opener. But Anthony Richardson
can get hit tonight for the first time and then
how many months.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
And that makes a difference because the clock.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Sadly, it makes a difference for him based off how
his career arc has gone from an availability standpoint, So
I think tonight matters a whole lot for Anthony Richardson.
I think tonight, in the small sample size, we'll see
Daniel Jones. I think there's some specific things you're looking
to see out of each of them. I think it'd
be beneficial Spencer Schrader got a kick or too from
longer distance. Tonight, Again, you only have three of these
moments where it is the closest thing you get to

(07:06):
reel in the month of August. So and I think
there's a lot of things we can go to in
terms of items to watch for tonight again seven o'clock tonight.
You can hear that obviously on our airwaves. That is
Matt Taylor, Charles R. Buckle from Baltimore, and then locally
Fox fifty nine Jill Wright sliding into the TV booth
with the one and only Greg Rakestraw.

Speaker 9 (07:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
I think one of the things that I always like
to look for, especially for individual players and their position battles,
like how do they approach the game, their aggressiveness, that
does the motor never stop? Some of these guys on
special teams that just keep going and going and going
and find.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
A way to make plays. So yeah, there is value.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
I don't mean to say that there's not value, because
it is as close as you can get at this
point in time. But it everybody just has to show up,
make sure they do their for individuals, James, it's make
sure you show up, do your job exactly the way
you're supposed to do it, and do it in the
best possible way that you can with a high motor James.
Just killing he did. And then what I like though,

(08:03):
he's cleaning.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
Up seven in the morning and you know who needs insects.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
But then he cleaned up after it. He didn't just
kill it. He cleaned it up.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
And that looks like quite the smear on the nice
uh whatever you call it. I don't do this beer
pong table.

Speaker 7 (08:18):
Sure, this is not like you know, iron or anything.

Speaker 10 (08:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (08:21):
If you know, it's.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Gonna be pregaming, he's gonna be jumped like Bill's Mafia
style jumping onto the table later on.

Speaker 7 (08:27):
Shout on it and you know, make sure it gets
all cleaned for you, Kevin.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
But what did you take from the uh the scrimmages
yesterday or day before yesterday.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
You're out there, what.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
Did you What do you think the team took from that?

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Well, one, keep your hands up because obviously someone might
come off the sideline and punch you. So Nate Wiggins,
I don't know what he was thinking with the Ravens.
That was such a bizarre scenario because all of us
were under the impression that he was involved in the play.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
He was not.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
So from what I understand, Tyler Goodson, well got lit
up on a punt return and it always happens that
way on special teams. And you got Nate Wagan's running
from the sideline to fight a dude, and that is
just I don't know if he's frustrated because a lot
of so he came off the sideline, he came up
the sideline. That's why he got ejected from practice. Tyler
Goodson actually remained in practice. He just didn't go back

(09:16):
into any live action, but he didn't get ejected because
I honestly probably was defending himself.

Speaker 7 (09:20):
So that's number one.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
And then beyond that, I think it was just, you know,
the offense I thought looked pretty solid. But I will
say one of the things that stood out to me,
guys is as much as I wrote about and I
probably should have mentioned it in the story, but there's
so much that goes on, and I'm like, I don't
want to write a book.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
But they had like.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Four false starts against the Ravens, and Shane lost his
mind on the on the fourth one.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
I mean, he said some things that I can that
was mostly with the first unit.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yeah, yeah, and so that to me was alarming because
we've seen that kind of early in camp. Yeah, and
it's kind of been a sporadic issue, you know. I
don't want to say it's in everyday thing, but it
has popped up on a couple of days here and there,
and that to me is just something they cannot really
have happened, not throughout the season, because they're not a
team that's equipped, in my opinion, to sacrifice the yards

(10:06):
like that.

Speaker 7 (10:06):
Not that any team really wants to.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
But obviously I would trust a second and seven with
Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes or even C. J.
Strout more than I trust second and seven with Ar
or Daniel Jones.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
You have too many other questions to be worried about
logistical proceeds issues for this team. So yeah, you know,
I think that is an item to keep an eye
on tonight. In defensively, I mean, I think linebackers turned
to the position group that has several different questions not
only at the backs of the depth chart, but the
top of the depth chart right now. And I am
curious to be getting clarity on the Justin Wallly knee injury.

(10:40):
You know, if that is something that's going to keep
him out for a period of time, that's not good
at all. And your cornerback definitely get tested very early
in the season with Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle right.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Out of the gate, so a lot of the most
timeline for the other guys Jalen, Juju, Brent who you know.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Obviously we don't expect them to play tonight. By the way,
thank you to on site engineer Cam. He was terrific
with us at Graham Park. Appreciate getting us set up here,
all of our promotion staff that's in the building. It
is a long day here at the Legends for them, and.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
They were here by six.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
Can really really appreciate that. Hell, they were mowing the greens.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Now out they're squeegeing some of the putting green and
making sure that people can get out there. Now they've
been here and everybody is ready to go. And I
can't wait. We're gonna wear some Mizzouno golf clubs later
on today. We'll tell you about that. We have closest
to the pen we've got. Now, what are you going
to be trying to help people without today?

Speaker 5 (11:30):
Well, I am I close to the pen or my
longest trick, because longest try for me is like you know, Greg.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Madd I think it's fastest to the pig. I am
believe it's closest the pit. But you know, David may
have changed that up on you, just because he likes
to do that. Well, David Gray likes to keep things
moving away. That is a curveball here. I can't wait.

Speaker 5 (11:46):
I love these little many Larry O'Brian trophies. It's like
a half Disney World, half.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
Larry O'Brien that we have the rand out like Epcott
Center on a on a little pedestal there.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
I like that. Or maybe it's golf ball. It's supposed
to app got center silent auction carrera, excuse me, a
live auction here. Yeah, And we'll tell you.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
About some of those items that people can get on
and when they come down here.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
So it's gonna be a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
And you know, we actually got our last foursome filled
earlier this week.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
You know Harley d oh, she didn't.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
He didn't think he thought he originally he was gonna
have to work today, but then he and his buddies didn't,
and we had one spot left, and Harley claimed that
earlier ten thirty. We'll see, Harley cannot wait for that.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
It's gonna be a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
We'll tell you all about sports coming up with the
Checkdown in a moment here. We got a Colts game
later on tonight, got the Fever playing on the road
out in the Southwest and Phoenix tonight. We'll tell you
all about it as we continue right here on ninety
three five and one oh seven five The Fan, The.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Morning Checkdout on ninety sweet five and one seven five
The Fan.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Hey, good morning, everyone, and welcome into Legends Golf Club today.
Side of the ninety three five one oh seven five
The Fan Golf Outing in partnership with Franciscan Health. I
want to thank Franciscan Help for making today's Fan Invitational
possible It's gonna be a lot of fun. Kevin Bowen
just brought the Gloff clubs out of the trunk.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
He is ready to go.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
I'm ready. Can I somehow take this microphone over to
the Putting Green just do the show from over we camp?

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Can we get him a wireless mike? Is there anyway
to just get him on the course and get going.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
Man, I can get nine done by the time this
show went. Shout out to the Great Ted Bishop. Just
so he's running the show here at the Legends and
we get started a little after tenants.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
That's a legend.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
And Jay he is. Jav's got a little Papa shot
action today, right, He's got a little big time well hoop.
And he told me yesterday there's no one in this outing.
We have one hundred golfers. I believe there's no one
in this outing that will out shoot him. I brought
up the name of James Boyd and he quickly said, no, wow, yeah,
probably sounds like the challenge is on.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
I mean, I'll never turn on the challenge, but he
probably will get me there.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
He can, James, Come on, man, Baltimore softened you up?

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Well, I mean, you see a couple punches get thrown
y NFL players. I was definitely ducking in hiding, but
this isn't you know. I'll be honest. I'll give him
that textually, go all right, I'll go to give him
a little grace there, but you know, just tell him
that you know he don't wan to see me in
one on.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
It's on. It's on.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
So we're gonna be out here raising money to support
the incredible cancer care program at Franciscan Health where innovation
meets compassion. Later on tonight, four pm is when our
coverage starts of the Indianapolis Colts their first preseason game
of the year against the Baltimore Ravens. As you mentioned
a moment ago, James in Baltimore. In course, kickoff comes
your way just after seven o'clock. What can we expect
to see tonight, Kevin Bowen? Should we bet on the game?

Speaker 5 (14:28):
Guys? Always? What's is there a line? Right? Man? Like?

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Actually bet or bet against each other? It's probably minus
three and a half back at the studio doesn't pay up.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
You've got Baltimore minus three and a half. Now, Jeff,
remember who's playing their starters and who's not.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
The Colts are so maybe that gets back down to
a Pickham game.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
I'm not sure the Colts favored by five wow half tonight.
There you go, Baltimore there, so jump on that. You
might be all over the Ravens based off that. I
want to see Anthony Rigson be boring. I want him
to sustain drives. I want him to string together some
consistent foot and the underneath accuracy match what we've seen
so far. I know he can throw it down the field.

(15:05):
I know he can create some big plays, but you
know last year in that Cincinnati game it was very
juckling hide in the preseason. Can he just be steadier?
And then for Daniel Jones, I'd say, honestly, the reverse,
can you actually throw it down the field? We have
yet to see much, if at all here in the preseason.
So again, registered for a quarter and a half. It
sounds like Daniel Jones for the rest of the first half.
But James, there's a couple items that I would like

(15:26):
to see.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
James, what do we know about relative health for the Colts?
Any updates after the practice the other day?

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Nope, they don't have to give us updates when it's
not a regular season game or a preseason game or
something like that. I'm sorry for the regular season, and
so they'll just stay coy until we see who's out there.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
All right, twe of three NFL games on the dock
of tonight. The others would be the Bengals at the Eagles.
That one starts at seven thirty tonight, and later on
the Raiders take on the Seahawks. If you're interested in
any of those other teams, you'll be able to watch
the Colts game on Fox fifty nine, right keV.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
Yes, yeah, and find network league wide, but yeah, Fox
fifty nine here from a or just a nationwide, but
Fox fifty nine from a local standpoint. Matt Taylor, Joe Wrights,
excuse me, Greg Greg Strawler, Joe writes Matt Taylor, Charles R.
Buckle on our airways, all right.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
And also later on tonight, late late right after the
Colts get done, probably the Fever take on the Mercury.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
That one starts at ten p m. Out in the desert.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
The Fever had their four game winning streak snap because
it was a five game winning streak snap the other night.
They'll try to get back on it tonight in Phoenix.
Still no Caitlin Clark. Still no timetable for her.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
Return exactly, and they've been playing pretty well without her.
Obviously you want her to get back sooner rather than later.
But at this point I have no idea when she'll return.
And in the meantime, you got to continue to try
to try some water here Phoenix Mercury. You know, got
some history there, just a little bit between the two teams,
and so I'm excited to see that match will live today, all.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Right, Major League Baseball.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
Yesterday the bet may have been won for you already, Kevin,
but the day did not belong to us. Yesterday the
Chicago cut Ups got the Reds by a score of
six to one. And the shocking development in that one
is probably the day after melting down, the bullpen came through,
Mark Dyked and Andrew Kittridge. I believe had an immaculate inning,
did he not?

Speaker 8 (17:12):
What a way to you go out after getting shelled
the night before you have an immaculate inning. Big deal.
Glad they didn't get swept, But that was a bad
series for the Cubs.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
See this is a typical Cubs fan.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
I tried to give him some sunshine and goes right
back into the gutter.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
That's just how it goes. Did we get a no
note broken up in the ninth yesterday? Via Homer? Did
I see that which came? I did not see that.
I thought it was one Soto for the Mets broke
up a no no in the ninth I want to
say it was the Guardians, maybe last the fighting Nate
Atkins when he joins us at nine o'clock. He was
a Guardians fan here.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
But yeah, Gavin Williams eight and two thirds gave up
just the one two outs or did he?

Speaker 5 (17:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
He worked eight and two thirds.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Oh, so I did not see the gamest I was
trying to get some sleep before getting out here at
five thirty.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
I did see that show.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Hey had his hoss hit on a home run, which
is the most show hate thing ever.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
Didn't Shober do that a couple weeks ago.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
Honestly, what surprised me.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
He's in balling.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
I mean talk about quietly having one of the better
careers of my era.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
Man, that guy.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
He went from being like kind of like a fun
story to wait, wait a second, he's actually really really,
really really really good player.

Speaker 5 (18:18):
Yeah. Also, last night the Saint Louis Carton's got to win.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
They beat the Dodgers by a score of five to three,
and good news. Going back to the NFL for George Kittle,
the league says players can use smelling salts and such
things as long as they provided themselves.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
The team cannot provide those things for him.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yeah, So from what I've gathered, and I believe Albert
Breer might have put out a tweet about this yesterday,
and he's a national NFL reporter for Sports Illustrated, and
the thinking at least in him talking to a doctor
about this is that smelling salts can help you, I guess,
diminished concussion symptoms. And so in theory, I guess the

(18:59):
implication there, like the NFL doesn't want to be the
supplier of what you use to basically play through a
concussion or to diminish a concussion's reaction or symptoms. And
so we know the NFL and their relationship with concussions
and how they tried to cover up things, and this
has all been, you know, documented. So if that is

(19:19):
the case, that's pretty you know, damning for the NFL,
but also very on brand to try to protect their product.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Also, yesterday, some news for the rams Kirone Williams gets
a three year extension with up to thirty three million dollars.
Their quarterback Matt Stafford, saying he's got a maintenance issue
with a disc in his back. But they they gave
him an epidural. That just that doesn't sound like maintenance
to me, does it.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
I just don't trust anybody's back injuries. I mean, he's
older quarterback. They're gonna keep trigging us along like it's fine, Kevin,
But I don't think it's fine at all.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
Yeah. Now I want to say they have Houston Week one,
and I think the Colts played in Week four. So again,
you know, we're a month away from the Regilar season opener.
Actually today number seventh is that first Sunday. But just
some items to keep an eye out on us.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
All right, once again, we are out at Legends Golf
Course today. We've teamed up with Franciscan Health for the
Fan Invitational. Everybody out here are going to get free
skin cancer screenings on the course today. That's brought to
you by the Franciscan Health Cancer Center. And we'll be
telling you about our fine friends at Franciscan and all
the great things that they do to keep you up
and run into healthy all day long.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
And Kevin, you've got one more thing.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
Yeah, we should mention Indiana down in Puerto Rico. The
Darren Devrees era underway from obviously an exhibition standpoint there,
they're leading score in game one. Actually in Indiana, kid
Trent Cisly, I know, very highly ranked recruit, went to
Mont Verde Academy for his final year here, leaving Heritage Hills,
but he stayed committed to Darren Devriz. He had twenty

(20:46):
one off the bench for them. So again, Indiana down
in San Juan. We had Jeff rab John's on yesterday
and they will play two more games down there before returning.
They shot thirty three three pointers last night. I get
that it is against competition that obviously is nowhere near
legit college basketball. But if that number even hovers around

(21:09):
that level, talk about a far cry from the Mike
Woodson era.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Well see how things developed for the Hoosiers over the
next couple of months. We'll also talk about the Colts
in their first preseason game tonight in Baltimore. We'll do
that next. Give us call if you want to get
in on that. Two three nine ten seventy as they
stripe it up and get some actual real NFL officials
on the field with them tonight, and we'll tell you
all about it next ninety three five and one A
seven five the fin Mark dyten speaking to you and

(21:36):
I today, James Boyd right.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
There, huh yeah, whenever this came on in a Boyd
household growing up clean?

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Is that what it was?

Speaker 6 (21:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (21:43):
It was cleaning time.

Speaker 5 (21:44):
Everybody move around and and clean to the beat.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (21:47):
I like it. I thought we lost Kevin Bowen for
a moment there.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
KB was out there with his putter and a couple
of golf balls and over at the putting green there.
I'm just glad you came back for the Colt's preview
segment here.

Speaker 5 (21:58):
All I know is if you're leaning, you to be cleaning, right,
James Boyd?

Speaker 7 (22:01):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
I learned that. Well, how great is that clock there?
For the legends? That's all? I was mesrized by the clock.
This beautiful.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
What kind of memories this place bring back when you
have a clock like that, don't you?

Speaker 5 (22:12):
I mean, are you legit? Yeah? Honestly, I look at
the first tea over here with my right shoulder, and
I think, how the hell did I forget my golf
shoes the second ay of the state finals. No kidding,
I forgot my golf shoes. And I you know, that
was back in high school when I had these just
stupid Notre Dame shoes that I thought were cool. So
I literally wore those, I think for the first it
might have been the first two holes. Shout out to
doctor David Plager for finally bringing my golf shoes to me.

(22:34):
So yeah, that's that's my first memory as I look
out there. I did that. Once I went to a
I was racing bikes.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
I was probably twenty one years old, and there was
a bike I was living just outside a Boulder. There
was a bike racing Durango, which is like a four
hour drive. And I got down there and I got
up in the morning for the race and I didn't
have my shoes.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
I've never had that happen. I did have one of
my friends though, on an AU trip for basketball, I
couldn't find my shoes in our hotel room, which I
knew I brought with me. I was freaking out, and
turns out that he put him in the freezer. So
got my shoes because I was hoping it would throw out,
you know, by the time we got to the court.
That was not a fun time. But looking back on
it's hilarious.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
When we we did our golf trip earlier this year
out to Oregon. Uh, the final flight was Vegas to
Eugene and this dude walks on the plane six six
three thirty and the only carry on he has are
a pair of what looked to be sized twenty shoes.

Speaker 7 (23:30):
Can you tell us this?

Speaker 5 (23:31):
Yeah, otherwise you got to check those in starting right
tackle for the same So I'm not going to try
and pronounce his name. He went to Oregon State, so
that's why he was flying out there, that's all. But like,
can you imagine that's your life where your carry on
is literally a size twenty two.

Speaker 7 (23:43):
And honestly it's those are pretty big and I feel
underneath the see.

Speaker 5 (23:46):
I know, I'm like, man, you need to those in.
You need the exit row for more ways than one.

Speaker 7 (23:51):
That's funny.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
That is that is outstanding anywhere at the Legends Golf
Course today team being up.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
With Franciscan Franciscan Health.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
And it's the fan of vitation and kids underway about
ten thirty Kevin, and where did you figure out what?

Speaker 5 (24:03):
David?

Speaker 11 (24:03):
Yet?

Speaker 5 (24:03):
Are you holding one? Are you long drive? For sure?

Speaker 11 (24:06):
Now?

Speaker 5 (24:06):
I have not figured that out, but again, I thrilled
to be out here. I think it'll be fun day,
you know, trying to make this a little bit different here,
and you know, jmbal get a little hooopage going here
so you can try and out shoot JMV. I think
they'll have me posted up on a whole. I don't
know if they've carried on with my Jake query trivia idea.
I feel like that could be a very much in
the Jake Querry world that he would absolutely love that.

(24:28):
You know, you get whatever they will be out here.
Three questions right, maybe t off from the red tea
something like that. Two questions, white tea. So I cannot
wait for today to get underway. Tally Faga Is that
who you saw on the plane?

Speaker 4 (24:40):
Say that again, Tally a Fuaga?

Speaker 5 (24:42):
Boy? That sounded good.

Speaker 7 (24:44):
I hope it's right.

Speaker 5 (24:46):
I mean, all I know is he was a big,
nice dude and had a big pair of shoes.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
It says.

Speaker 5 (24:51):
I didn't say where he went to school here. I'm
looking for Oregon State, is what is what he told him.
He's from Tacoma, Washington, and he did go to Oregon State.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
So that was your guy right there.

Speaker 5 (25:01):
Waga, there you go, checking in his own shoes.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Later on tonight, the Indian Ouphis Colts, of course taking
on the Baltimore Ravens. And we know, as you pointed
out a moment ago in the checkdown, Kevin, that the
Ravens will not be playing their starters for the most part,
certainly not Lamar Jackson and probably not Mark Andrews or
I don't know Isaiah. Isaiah likely even going to play
tonight for the leave he's hurt. If I'm not mistaken,
Kyle Hamilton, he's not not playing.

Speaker 7 (25:25):
I've walked past him.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
What's he got going on? I did not hear that.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
What's he got going on?

Speaker 1 (25:28):
He just I believe had foot surgery or ankle surgery,
but he has He's in a boot.

Speaker 5 (25:33):
James, which colts offensive starters? Do you think we will
not see I think Jonathan Taylor is probably obvious. Yeah,
But do we see Quentin Nelson, Do we see Michael
Pittman Jr? Do we see Bernard Ryman?

Speaker 1 (25:43):
I do wonder about that because is that skew the
evaluation of the quarterback. If the line play isn't what
you would expect it to be during the regular season,
I wonder about the offensive line. Also wonder about the
wide receivers to a certain extent too. I would expect
Ady Mitchell to play, he needs the reps. But a
guy like Michael Pittman Junior. Do you arrest him because
he is more of like that possession, physical receiver. Why

(26:04):
I put him out there in harm's way if you
don't really need to and he has.

Speaker 7 (26:07):
Nothing to prove.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
I think about the same thing when it comes to
Alec Pierce to a certain degree. So we'll see how
they divvy it up. Shan' sty and didn't really get
into it throughout his post practice interview in Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
It's interesting if you look at the fifty three man
or at least the depth chart at this point in time.
Do we have a lot of depth chart position battles.
We talked about linebacker. Obviously the quarterback thing is going on,
but really across the board, what are.

Speaker 5 (26:33):
We looking at? Well? I think center, you've seen Tanner
BORDERLINI start to take the lead there over Danny Pinzer,
does that continue in the full padded of course, you know,
finally seeing another team sessions that we have upcoming here,
you know, and I'll go back to that justin Wally injury.
I mean, if all of a sudden you're dealing with
some cornerback questions, then you know, after Traveri's hoard and

(26:54):
after Kenny Moore the second, you've got some jobs that
are definitely up for grabs. And those are big jobs.
I mean, those are important jobs. I mean Leuyn Rumo's
made no bones about it. He doesn't really care too
much about linebacker. He's going to play more defensive backs
and so you know, having quality depth there is vital.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Again.

Speaker 5 (27:10):
Week one, you got Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle right
out of the gate and they're going to test you.
And you know, even we've seen Ward with a couple
off days here, how much is that just veteran maintenance?
How much of that is a nagging and growing injury.
So that's a position group that you know, I think
early on in camp, James I felt like, you know what, Wow,
for the first time in a while, I'm saying the
Colts have like some cornerback depth, but injuries have really

(27:32):
hit it here in the last week or so, So
to me, that's definitely an area that you got to
keep an eye on.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
So this hands to be too, Like one of the
more important things to keep an eye on is they
would like that offensive line.

Speaker 5 (27:41):
It just keep the pocket clean. And you talk about
every offensive.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Well, I know it's every offensive line, but it's been
a problem for the Colts, and so they need to
do that. And if they're going to give Anthony Richardson
or Daniel Jones the best chance to succeed, they're.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
Going to have to do a better job of that.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
And you know, it's a different looking offensive line than
they had a little bit last year.

Speaker 5 (28:01):
So I think, to me, that's the big thing that
I'll be watching today.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Yeah, I think their biggest thing is certainly the just
operational issues you talked about earlier. I think protection wise,
they've been fine even last year. Obviously there's some changes
there upfront for sure. Well, last year I thought they
protection wise they were fine. There wasn't a bunch of
scenarios whereever. Else isn't the twenty twenty two offensive line
we're talking about. But I definitely think operationally, and I

(28:25):
go back to Ar saying you had a cadence issue,
and I wonder how much of that is it and
how cool.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
One of the fall starts with Anthony.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
A few of them, yeah, a few of them were,
but I can't like attribute all of them to them.
I want to say there was four. They might have
been three with Ar, two with Ar and the other
the rest with Daniel Jones. But either way, like I said,
Shane lost his mind after one of them and said.

Speaker 7 (28:46):
Blee bleed, bleed. We can't allow this blee bleed bleed
to happen.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
And I was like, Okay, well that certainly is which
is not normal Shane. No, No, He's usually relatively reserved. Now,
I will say, was a fourth time?

Speaker 5 (28:56):
Can you blame me? It wasn't just no, I don't
blame at all, but I'm just providing some context. You know,
you got some coaches that are bleep, bleep, bleeping every
other session.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
I will say he had a couple of bleep bleeps
after they had some good plays, you know, He's like, oh, yeah,
this is what we're supposed to be doing out here.
So it went both ways, and I think overall he
was pleased with the practice. I just wonder again operationally
when that stuff will mess you up. Because, for example,
I didn't mention this in my story, but late in
practice they went through their typical two minute drills and
things like that, and it was not good. I mean,
Daniel Jones, I don't even think gotten field goal range

(29:25):
or I might be getting the quarterbacks missed up. But
then when they did get field goal range, Fisher Trader
missed a longer field goal. I want to say, it
might have been I don't know, fifty yards, but he
missed it wide left.

Speaker 7 (29:35):
It was not close.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
And so those types of moments you need to be
make sure you're making sure you're executing when it comes
to the pre snap, you know, adjustment, the things you
got to make.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
All right, the boss is here. We can start now.
Andrew Kerraz here veteran move. I see she's already driving
up the bidding on almost every item so far today.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
I know how that works.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
And we got some great items which we'll list a
little bit later on today. But it's gonna be a
lot of fun as we've teamed up with friends can
help for a day on the golf course. The Fan Invitational.
Been looking forward to this one for a while. Big
shout out to our whole sponsors. Today EA Karts is
coming through Elijah Craig Premier Weight Loss, We grow hair
Kevin a great to sponsor today Fireball Apple Horizon League,

(30:16):
and we'll be talking to an assistant to commissioner for.

Speaker 5 (30:20):
The Horizon League a little bit later on today.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
I'm looking forward to that ld Smith Plumbing and the
Indianapolis Colts pitching in today too.

Speaker 5 (30:28):
Oh so how about that? Thanks to them? So who
we got quarterbacks Richardson Jones, Jason be and Riley Leonard
and then they go PJA and over to Baltimore.

Speaker 4 (30:36):
They are as vped.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
I think, yeah, we're gonna get We're gonna get two guys.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
That used to play like three four years ago. Maybe,
you know, I think it's uh, I think it's really vital.
And you know, again, the expectation here is, you know,
the Colts will play their starters and we'll see how
many offense starters they are against Baltimore's two's with Anthony Richardson.
So you know, I think if you're trying to keep
score tonight that first quarter and a half, the Colt

(31:02):
should be the better football team. And you know, it's
starters versus backups largely and again with Richardson, I think
what I want to see is just methodical sustaining of drives,
consistent underneath accuracy. I don't need to see the flash.
I don't know. Yeah, I get an Ady Mitchell forty
five yard highlight down the field would be something that
you know, whatever maybe leads sports. Yeah, it would go

(31:25):
viral and social media. But for his sake, it is
just steadiness. And you know, honestly, the reverse could be
said for Jones and that you know, when Daniel Jones
gets in there, albeit for two series, you might want
to see a little bit longer of attempts down the field.
And James to your point, I think it's critical that
Spencer Trader gets a couple of longer kicks tonight. You know,
I know Shane loves to go for it, but I

(31:47):
think when you get into those you know, fourth and
two moments, even in the second half. I tried Spencer
Trader out there to see, you know, where he is
at from and this is a guy that has kicked
five field goals. Yeah, I don't trust him and his
NFL career, so and none of them I believe longer
than forty five yards, if I'm not mistake, of them
have been in for at least fifty So I think

(32:08):
that is an area that you look to for tonight
of Okay, how do you exactly want these drives to go? Yeah,
you want the first quarter and a half for the
Colts to be better on the scoreboard. I think that's
probably a fair statement. But if you can kind of
get a little bit more in depth, I think you
would love for Richardson not necessarily to have Yeah, sure,
four plays in eighty five yards, that's obviously great, but

(32:29):
if you could really pinpoint how the drives look sustaining
that methodical the boring reel, we know he's got a
highlight reel. The boring reel is where Anthony and Richardson
needs a show sign to growth. Let me, this guy's
a question about Kicker real quick.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Is the Colts twenty twenty five Kicker necessarily on the
roster right now?

Speaker 5 (32:49):
Because you don't seem convinced that Trader is the guy.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Yeah, I was gonna say I don't trust him yet
that was gonna be my complete thought, just because he
doesn't have those So it's ye, reps.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Let's say he is not great but not terrible in
the preseason, then what because we know guys will I.

Speaker 7 (33:05):
Mean simple, if he ain't great, what do you gotta do?

Speaker 4 (33:08):
You bring in guys on Tuesday?

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Yeah, you gotta bring guys in. So obviously you don't
want to do that because you did sign him to
a two year deal. You did sign him with the
intention of him being the long term replacement. I think
to Matt Gay, but I just don't trust him, and
mainly because I haven't seen it enough.

Speaker 7 (33:22):
This is a very very small sample size we're talking about.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
And again, you know we're all standing there thinking, okay,
into practice in Baltimore. Here's a way to kind of
end there on a high note. And you miss, And
obviously it's a practice kick, and I'm not going to
harp on it too much, but those are the moments
where you wonder, have you seen enough pressure kicks to
really be trusted? And that's certainly something you have to
keep in mind, because the last thing you want to

(33:47):
deal with is a kicking issue. I want to say
the Colts had abe eight or nine games last year
that were decided BYuT three points or less, and so
as much as we you know, don't really talk about
kickers and don't really care about kickers until they miss.
That is something to keep an eye on.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
I think that that's really important because unless you're one
of the top five to six teams that's in control
most of the time, most games these days in the
NFL come down to how do you play in field
goal and special teams. It's it's it can go one way. Look,
it's it's turnovers. Right, we all we've always known that
about the NFL. Take care of the football, play well
on special teams, and you're probably gonna make the postseason.

(34:23):
Does that mean you're going to be up there with
the Eagles and the Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Probably not.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
But but beyond those four or five really top teams
and the few elite teams, that's what it comes down
to in the NFL A lot of times, well, honestly.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
Just live in the world of Colts Ravens. The last
couple of years, you know, Lamar Jackson and both of
those games in Baltimore went overtime, and kicking was a
huge deal in both of those games. In Matt Gay
single handley won the Colts that game. So he had
like four from north of fifty, so the NFL record. Yeah,
that's something to keep an eye. Do you guys see JW. Marriott.

(34:56):
It's got a little Colt signers going up.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
By that time, it looks like it's going to be
you filled out more, Kevin, I thought the saw the
picture that you posted, unless that's just like the one
little part they're going to stick up there, But I
think somebody's face was cut off.

Speaker 5 (35:08):
Yeah, I'm guessing, and double check me on this. The
four people on the side of Lukosolo Stadium? Is it Buckner,
Jonathan Taylor, Kenny Moore, Quentin Nelson.

Speaker 7 (35:18):
Was the last four that I saw.

Speaker 8 (35:19):
Yes, that's accurate. I saw that this morning.

Speaker 5 (35:21):
That's right. I did you drive by the JW this morning?

Speaker 8 (35:25):
Mark, Yes, it's not it's not completed yet, but.

Speaker 5 (35:27):
Yes, okay, okay, So I'd assume Buckner would be the
fourth for those that missed it, it says basically for
the city on top, for the boss underneath that obviously
Jim Mersey, and right now the picture currently is Taylor, Kenny,
and Quentin Nelson, and then underneath that for the shoe
and the Jim Mersey signature that you have seen. So yeah,

(35:48):
i'd assume Buckner would be the fourth on that.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
Yeah, it's a guy who would be right now, if
you had to vote, who would be the face of
the franchise?

Speaker 8 (35:59):
Right, Well, if you go off of that building, it's
Jonathan Taylor because he's front and center and he's in
the middle.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
Of what I would say, He or Buckner, Right, I'd
say Blue.

Speaker 4 (36:08):
Well, he's consistent.

Speaker 7 (36:09):
I was gonna say, honestly, that's probably a good answer.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
He's consistent.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
The fact that you can't name a quarterback is pretty
I mean, who's the last quarterback to be on the
side of Lucaso Stadium?

Speaker 5 (36:17):
Did Rivers get it for a year during COVID? I
don't think it just might have gotten a little bit.
I don't know. I'd have to go back and look,
I mean seriously asking that. It's never a good sign
when you got to go back six seven years to
you know, find inside of Lucasos tamp Yeah, face to
the franchise, Yeah, I don't know. Probably I guess Taylor,
I don't know, maybe Nelson.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Yeah, it'd be one of three, right, it'd be Taylor,
Nelson or Buckner.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
Right, it does seem like Quentin Nelson. Then you know,
this has been said during camp, and I think it
was a storyline a little bit in Baltimore James on Tuesday.
So I'll let you expand on this. But you know,
I do think Quentin Nelson, you know, he's definitely not
the most like vocal vocal you know, in a media setting,
but it does seem like he has tried to make
a very concerned effort with that locker room of we
need to be some self creators and from an energy standpoint,

(37:04):
and you know, I'm not breaking a news here. You
watch Quin Nelson play football oftentimes he's one of the
first ones down the field, congratulating guys things like that.
So it just seems like it's a little bit more
emphasized from Nelson this season.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
It certainly seems that way. I do want to add,
you know, me and Quentin Nelson of great relationship. I'm
gonna ask him to be in a TikTok later this
season to see how that goes over, maybe after a win, can.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
You please, so either I can watch it happen or
I'm gonna be the one filming it or the other
side of the locker.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
Like this TikTok might be a murder stream if it
depends on the depending on the day. But no, I
do think that he's made a bigger effort to be
a little bit more vocal with his leadership because he's
been a great leader from what I understand in locker
room from like a follow me example, but maybe you
need a bit more of that when there's been an
instability at quarterback and so even out in Baltimore, anytime

(37:55):
anybody made a play, he's one of the first ones
to be yelling and screaming, laughing, jumping whatever, and also
handling business. And so I think that Quentin Nelson is
a huge part of that equation when it comes to
giving guys confidence, and so it's obviously rubbing off on
the other guys, and I think they're taking heed to
what he has to say because we're talking about most
likely if he.

Speaker 7 (38:12):
Keeps up this pace, a future Hall of Famer.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Also, just in line with being the team leader, remember
that day last week when Grover Stewart does a little
extra with j T. Who's the first guy over there
to say hi to Grover Stewart, like, hey, don't be
doing that stuff.

Speaker 7 (38:27):
Well, first guy also has to do with size.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
It is but he was there quickly.

Speaker 5 (38:31):
I mean immediately he was there.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
Yeah, I'll leave it at that.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
I think that's more of us because it was nowhere
near where he was to begin with, was my point. Yeah,
he got there in a hurry. And he's always been
kind of a quiet team leader. He's always feeling to me,
it feels like he's always been that guy. So yeah,
offensive line is definitely something I'm gonna be looking forward tonight.
And again, just guy's individual efforts. Are you where you're
supposed to be. Are you there on time? Are you
playing as hard as you can? Are you winning your

(38:57):
individual battles? That's really a guys can do tonight to
just win their individual battles and be in the right
place at the right time.

Speaker 5 (39:03):
Do we get any defensive starters out there? That's a
good question, because numbers wise, I gotta have a feud,
don't they. I mean, number wise, you can just play
all them. We got ninety guys on the roster. You
don't have to play your starting a lot. Yeah, I mean,
obviously we're not gonna get Franklin or we're probably not
gonna get Buckner. I assume Ward and Kenny Moore would
be nos, but like, do you get cambine them? Do

(39:23):
you get lat too?

Speaker 7 (39:25):
I think lat Too needs to revs I cambine them
out pay you know some.

Speaker 5 (39:28):
Of those things.

Speaker 7 (39:29):
Yeah's ward has been kind of.

Speaker 5 (39:31):
Because Shane wasn't as committal to the defense and talking
about last like his urgency wasn't there. And again you
are playing a new defense.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
Maybe two series for those guys.

Speaker 7 (39:41):
But even then, just kidding, that's probably.

Speaker 5 (39:42):
What I would do, but that didn't sound like Shane.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Yeah, even then, Cambina was saying, they're they're not showing
much as is, and so do you wait the joint
practice a little bit more than that, and so it's
something to keep an eye on for sure. I think
another person to keep an eye on too, as far
as positions go is Jalen Carlis.

Speaker 7 (39:58):
He's been out with within.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
I don't know if he Probably I would expect him
to play to night that is an open linebacker here,
but I think that he's has a legit legitimate chance
to supplan Jalen Carlais as the quote unquote starter, mainly
because Carlis himself has been through some injury issues last
year and he's been banged up this spring in summer
as well.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
Yeah, and you know, you take a look at some
of those linebackers. Obviously he's are Franklin is just coming back.
He had had an ankle a Loubi.

Speaker 5 (40:27):
What's the story on him with the ankle. He's a
little further on the depth chart, you know, I think
it's a lot of He's a name that, you know,
if you'd have told me the start of the year, hey,
Jalen Carlis might not start. Schagarn Alubi would probably be
a name that I would have said, Oh, he's starting,
But he's not. I mean, he's been passed up by
Cameron Groan, the LC guy, Austin Jaki. Who else am
I missing? Oh Joe Joe Bachi.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
Yeah, by the way I see it, the Jeff's question
real quick. He hasn't been hurt for a while. He
was out there practicing in the joint practice.

Speaker 5 (40:52):
You see him on this list here twelve as the
fireball team. Should the beverage cart just tail the fireball team? Yes?

Speaker 3 (40:59):
Or maybe in the fireball team we should just tell
the the other way around.

Speaker 5 (41:02):
Yeah, see, yeah, we have we got early rise there.
My god, where's the fireball car let's go pancake, sausage
fish fireball on ice seven fifty four.

Speaker 3 (41:12):
They want their fireballs, man, let's go by the way.

Speaker 5 (41:15):
Shout out, shout out to Carlton Mills. Over here, the
basketball hoop looks outstanding. It's currently getting set up, right, So,
James Boyd, while I head to the putting green, you
probably headed over to the hoop. Yeah, yeah, I should
have brought a basketball.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
Although I do want to point out one of the
guys that's already in line for the fireball is in
full New England Patriots gear today, and I'm a little
concerned with that right now, you know what, I'm a
little concerned with that.

Speaker 5 (41:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
I like somebody that walks into indyan territory though, like
very proudly wearing this.

Speaker 5 (41:44):
Wow. Yeah, if I remember perspect if I remember correctly,
there is a lake by the twelfth green, So maybe
we just give him one of those.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
Why would you remember that Kevin an experience?

Speaker 5 (41:54):
Well, there are some highs here, but there are there
are also some lows.

Speaker 3 (41:59):
Are you gonna be looking for any golf balls? Are
when you get back over there at the Legends golf Course.

Speaker 5 (42:03):
This is one of the dark and days in Boston
sports history.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
Isn't every day. Thank you, one of the darkest time.

Speaker 5 (42:10):
By the way, Mark, that was some lovely caddyshack to
introduce the show to that. Thank you.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
He always does a great job.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
We are hanging out at the Fan Invitational along with
our friends at Francisca in Health. We'll tell you all
about that in a minute. It is a gorgeous perfect
day for golf at the Legends Golf Club. We'll tell
you all about it next time. Ninety three five and
one oh seven five The Fan.

Speaker 2 (42:35):
These See Stuff Fan Morning Show with KB JB and
Jeff Toy.

Speaker 4 (42:40):
Was it long, but it was deep and wide people excited.

Speaker 5 (42:45):
If you've ever looked down and thought, wow, this looks heinous,
I got to see him come out of the shower.
The Miles Turner stuff just smacked me right in the forehead.
Mark dyton't pull it out like a.

Speaker 8 (42:56):
Wood back in COVID.

Speaker 5 (42:57):
I don't get this as much anymore. In fact, I
don't get it at all anymore.

Speaker 8 (43:00):
I missing Can I move it and flick it?

Speaker 7 (43:02):
Maybe I'll make it work.

Speaker 8 (43:03):
And that's a big one.

Speaker 5 (43:04):
James Fixing, I'm.

Speaker 7 (43:05):
Proud like you grabbed a banana on the way out kV.

Speaker 3 (43:08):
You could still see him like flexing it, messing with it, Robin,
and you know it's going to be more sore the
next day.

Speaker 5 (43:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (43:14):
I like the dad vibe.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
Man.

Speaker 5 (43:15):
Mark is trying to get a winner. But I'm talking
about Wieners.

Speaker 7 (43:18):
It's like dicks on steroids.

Speaker 3 (43:29):
He's so proud of himself every time he plays that
is he not James Boyd.

Speaker 5 (43:33):
He is so proud of himself when he puts that thing.

Speaker 7 (43:36):
I said these words and he used them against me.

Speaker 8 (43:40):
I'm just showcasing the show. Wanted, you know, big station
event want to make sure we're showcasing the highlights of
the show.

Speaker 7 (43:47):
Yes, this is me and my best form.

Speaker 3 (43:49):
It's the first day of school and that's what Mark
is giving people on the first day of school.

Speaker 4 (43:52):
Right there, your kids.

Speaker 5 (43:53):
Are in the car again, we're good to go, and
there he is.

Speaker 7 (43:57):
This is how I grew up Mark.

Speaker 5 (43:58):
I respect it.

Speaker 3 (43:59):
Yeah, just a to My sons have his first day
at school today, so he's good to go. They all
they have summer homework. Now do you guys remember having
homework over the summer.

Speaker 5 (44:07):
Remember we have the summer reading and I would just
Cliff note it.

Speaker 4 (44:09):
Yeah, everybody did summer reading, bark noted.

Speaker 5 (44:11):
Is that it not Cliff?

Speaker 3 (44:13):
All these packages for science and math, physics and everything.

Speaker 8 (44:16):
You can tell those teachers to kick rocks. You give
me homework on summer vacation.

Speaker 1 (44:22):
Well they got to remember, you know, Jeff's kids are geniuses. Yeah,
gotta be going, you know, save the world.

Speaker 5 (44:27):
I was over there again, a little look at the
basketball hoop we got set up here? Thank you there. Yeah,
and so I have missed it, but I just got
a text from a listener saying that is given us,
that that was the best opening ever. Uh?

Speaker 3 (44:38):
Mark did I Is that Mark dyked in texting you?

Speaker 5 (44:42):
No? I shockingly lot Now the only person Mark text
seemingly is my wife. That's how.

Speaker 7 (44:50):
This is so crazy. I need more context than this.

Speaker 4 (44:52):
No you don't.

Speaker 5 (44:53):
It's just like the open, no context required, just how
it is.

Speaker 7 (44:57):
We we are here Mondos.

Speaker 5 (44:58):
You must really love these, hey, you know me, man,
loyalty ain't nothing to mess around with.

Speaker 4 (45:04):
They haven't made these since twenty twenty two. James, now
they don't exist.

Speaker 8 (45:08):
They literally do not make him And then Maddie had said, no,
he's mistaken it was kool Aids that he drank, so
he's describing it wrong.

Speaker 7 (45:16):
So that was the issue to a household in order.

Speaker 5 (45:19):
Yeah, we litigated that all the same page with the lies.

Speaker 3 (45:22):
We litigated all that yesterday and we'll just wait and
see if any show up by the end of the week.
In the meantime, we are hanging out here with our
friends at Franciscan Health for the Fan Invitational golf tournament.
Everybody that's going to be out here gets free skin
cancer screening on the course today from Franciscan Healthcare Center.
They offer multidisciplinary programs for breast, lung, prostate, melanoma, and more,

(45:44):
tailored for every patient's needs. And also lunch today, gentlemen,
you were asking about this, James. Lunch today brought to
you by the Legendary Kitchen food truck and we're powered
all day by Zinc distributing our beverage sponsor.

Speaker 5 (45:58):
So there you go, Kevin, But not ten oh one, okay,
well ten o one with my diet usually lunches pretty
much ten on one for me. With waking up early.
I saw we got announced yesterday our CBS crews for
the Colts early in the season.

Speaker 3 (46:11):
A lot of spirodidas shockingly, No Spiro, You'll go Andrew
Catalan in that crew.

Speaker 5 (46:19):
Week one, that's what Charles Davis. I always enjoy it
hearing Charles Davis. So that's Colts Dolphins. If you fast
forward to week three, you get Tom McCarthy and Ross Tucker,
like bad Ross Tucker on these airwaves on the show before.
That's Colts Titans. And how about week two, well, Kevin
Harlan action Colts Broncos Week two four oh five games.

(46:43):
The Colts oddly have I think a few of those
four o'clock games this year.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
I know, and I wanted to square up with the
home I know.

Speaker 5 (46:50):
Yeah, Colts Broncos is one of them. So yes, it
will be Kevin Harlan and of course Indiana's own Trent Green.
I don't know, I feel like it's been a little
bit since Kevin Harlan called Colts games, let alone consistent cults.

Speaker 3 (47:02):
Well, usually Kevin Harlan's on a game of significance, so
that's probably why they're.

Speaker 5 (47:06):
Having Broncos of significance. It was late last season.

Speaker 3 (47:10):
I think that they're one of those teams of the moment,
you know, at the end of the year last year,
Sean Payton trying to turn things around there. Bo Nix
was everybody's kind of surprise rookie of last year. So
they've got a little juice there, and who knows, you know,
maybe by if Anthony Richards starts playing, well, maybe you
get two young, exciting.

Speaker 5 (47:29):
Quarterbacks going off against one another. Obviously, we'll talk a
lot about the Colts here on this Thursday morning, but James,
they wouldn't give you a chance to hit on because
I know we played the audio yesterday. But Rick Carlile's
appearance with Kaitlin Cooper, who again she does just unbelievable
work at a beyond Ivy League graduate level oftentimes. And
it's why Rick Carlile, I think, was so willing to
go on the podcast and say the things that he

(47:51):
did about Caitlyn's work and the Pacers.

Speaker 7 (47:54):
Yeah, he's never praised me like that.

Speaker 5 (47:55):
Fancy yeah, Mark, can you clip that audio that we
have from Ricky? But the Benedict Matherin comments or just
anything in general that maybe stood out, you know, it
does sound like Matheren is going to be that starting
two guard. I think when he explained that he threw
in some caveats of like what he wants to see
from Matheren, And then I would say the other thing
that stood out to me is just you know, how
much they know is going to be on the plate

(48:18):
of Andrew Nemhart, and how conscious they need to be
about putting too much on his plate. So I'll leave
it pretty open end at anything that Rick said stand
out to.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
You, honestly, Mark, you play it, just to run it
back real quick to reflect it.

Speaker 8 (48:31):
Sure, which one you want first?

Speaker 5 (48:33):
We have? I think we have both Matherin and the
Nemhard one.

Speaker 7 (48:35):
Let's do the Mathern Okay, there you go, and.

Speaker 5 (48:39):
You know I'll be I'll be real honest.

Speaker 11 (48:42):
You know, this is a part of Ben Matherin's game
that we keep talking to him about. And you know,
he's a He's a guy that is just a natural scorer.
I mean, you put him in a you put him
in a rat game with a bunch of switching and
a bunch of physical stuff, and the guy's gonna go
find eighteen points and he's gonna shoot seven free tropes

(49:04):
at least. But the the pure elements of the passing
and the quick decisions and stuff like that are things
that he is.

Speaker 5 (49:15):
He's he's gradually.

Speaker 11 (49:17):
Getting and and he's going to get there. And I
think you know this year right now, and I'll break
I'll break the news right here. You know, I'm projecting
him as our starter at two this year. You know,
I think you know on day one, and I've told him.
I told him this. I was on the phone with
him and his agent four days ago and I said,

(49:39):
I said, you're you're going to be with the starters
on day one.

Speaker 5 (49:42):
It's your job to lose.

Speaker 3 (49:46):
So that's what Rick Carlisle had to say with Kaitlin
Cooper there. I don't think it's a huge surprise to anybody,
but it's nice to hear him say it.

Speaker 5 (49:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (49:53):
So, to answer Kevin's question, set out some muses the
decision making part. You mentioned how easy it is for
him to score, get to the free throw line, get downhill,
do all the things that honestly are the hallmarks of
his game. But can you do the other stuff good
enough to make sure that you're helping the overall team offense.
Decision making when it comes to passing quickly, quick decisions

(50:15):
those things is what kind stood out to me about
what Rick Carlisle said, but honestly, it's a little bit surprised,
and it took that long to just confirm it. And
I do wonder if I'm reading too much into that,
but I was thinking to myself, who else are you
gonna start the Two Guard? Anyways, I know it's breaking news,
and he finally confirmed it. But Kevin, did you read
anything into like why it took so long?

Speaker 5 (50:32):
Well, I guess two things that you just said there one, Yeah,
there's no other realistic option started to take.

Speaker 12 (50:38):
Now.

Speaker 7 (50:38):
I love Ben Shepard.

Speaker 5 (50:39):
I'm not sorry. I've been Shepard for eighty two nights
out of the year. Yeah, so that would be my
first answer. Now, why did it take so long? I mean,
it is the offseason. It's not like there's media vails already.

Speaker 1 (50:48):
Like he came right out and said, Okay, nim Hard,
this is gonna be his role next year, and others,
even with Center.

Speaker 7 (50:55):
He's like, hey, we'll do it by committee.

Speaker 1 (50:56):
With the Two Guard, it was always like everyone was
kind of like walking on xshells to say, hey, okay,
this is gonna be our dude.

Speaker 5 (51:01):
Yeah, honestly, I think a lot of it came from
Chad by camaon on with John a couple of weeks
ago where Chad like didn't want to go there.

Speaker 13 (51:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (51:07):
I forget his exact words, but I think he said
there will be some sort of competition for that, And
that might just be Chad saying, Hey, I'm the president
GM whatever you gonna call me, Like, I'm not gonna
make coaching decisions out loud. There. I did have to
laugh at Rick Carlisle saying that Benedict Matho would score
eighteen in a RAT game? How would you describe a
rat basketball game? Jim Rats just showing up on a

(51:30):
Saturday morning. So there, these are the jam v ers
out there, These.

Speaker 7 (51:33):
Are the James out there.

Speaker 4 (51:34):
I don't think it's I think high level rack Jim Rats.

Speaker 1 (51:37):
Right when I hear RAT game, I think it's just
like an ugly one's That's kind of how I would
describe it.

Speaker 5 (51:42):
Game seven was kind of ugly.

Speaker 1 (51:44):
Yeah, but he can he can go out there and
did still fill it up.

Speaker 5 (51:47):
Yeah, he had north of twenty there. Again, I thought
that stood out. And then the nemhard stuff and you
know again, Jeff and I hit on this a little
bit yesterday, James, but to kind of give you an
opportunity of like there are not I would argue and
feel free to point went out to me how many
lead ball handlers in the league are also asked to

(52:08):
defend the opposing team's best player. Trey Young is not
asked to do that. John Moran has not asked to
do that. Jalen Brunson is not asked to do that.
Andrew Nemhard will not be asked to do that next time,
but like on paper, he should be. You know, yeah,
if you kind of hear me out on that, because
like he is probably your best perimeter defender, I get
why you don't want to put that much on his plate.
And I thought Rick pointed out really well to Caitlin

(52:29):
of like, hey, how many times has Tyree's been in
foul trouble? Very little? Yeah, how many times has Nemhart
been in foul trouble?

Speaker 4 (52:36):
Because he's active and he's defense, right, so.

Speaker 5 (52:38):
You do have to watch for that again eighty two
nights out of the year. He did mention one thing,
you know, maybe keep Nemhart's minutes a little bit more,
kind of just north of thirty. Obviously that means McConnell
will play a big role. And then he did throw
out the names of Cam Jones and ray J Dennis
as a third point guard. Again, I don't think you
have that nightly. You are one injury and unfortunately Nemhard

(52:58):
has had a little bit injuries. You are one, you
know whatever, five seven game absence away from those guys
having a role for you.

Speaker 4 (53:06):
Pretty interesting to hear Rick talking. It's nice to hear him.

Speaker 3 (53:09):
Just hear him again in the summertime after what has
been a crazy, crazy couple of months, going all the
way back to Game seven.

Speaker 5 (53:16):
And Carlisle dosdri in the summer plays piano.

Speaker 3 (53:19):
From what I understand if I listened to you guys,
Lis Planes plays piano. He goes on Kaitlin Cooper's golfing
and all is he golfer?

Speaker 5 (53:27):
Do you see you remember him golfing at the Pacers
golf tournament. I could have sworn him. He told me
at one point in his life he might have been
sniffing a little scratch. I was going to say that
that would would that surprise you?

Speaker 7 (53:37):
Kevin No I met his daughter once.

Speaker 1 (53:41):
I was leaving a Pacers press conference or something, and
Carl poles out of the practice lot and who rolls
windows down?

Speaker 7 (53:49):
He goes James.

Speaker 1 (53:50):
I've been my wife and my daughter, and I'm like,
of course not Rick. I never see them. But I was,
this was a couple of years ago.

Speaker 5 (53:56):
Like, oh, Donna, Abbey, see you guy. I know.

Speaker 1 (53:59):
And I think I told Abby because Abby has a
TikTok and this is years ago. I might I didn't
be up there anymore. But she did a TikTok with Rick,
one of the dancing ones, and I told her. I
was like, they make the playoffs, you know, it's upcoming season.
I need to do a TikTok with your dad. And
so I just wonder in the back of my mind,
had they won Game seven, what I have seen the
greatness of, you know, Rick Carlisle doing the young Jock

(54:21):
for example, it's going down Kevin things we will never
know because of you know, the basketball God's robbing us
of an achilles.

Speaker 5 (54:28):
But maybe that's your first question. You lead off with
Rick joint coming up this season? No chance, no chance.

Speaker 7 (54:34):
I would like him to keep coming on the show.

Speaker 1 (54:36):
I think that he would certainly, uh might shoot me
a text which is not what he usually does, which
would be very disparaging at that point. That's basically what
that text would be I do.

Speaker 4 (54:50):
I was talking to some folks.

Speaker 3 (54:52):
Yesha, I believe towards the end of next week we
should get our NBA schedule released too.

Speaker 5 (54:57):
Nice. She will be kind of interesting. And here's what
I think. We get Christmas games early because I'm standing
by it. Pacers Bucks noon Christmas game, Miles Turner first
game back in Gamebridgefield, though, I would love it, but
I'm still get. It's new to believe it when I see.
I know, but.

Speaker 7 (55:16):
You're going to get respected.

Speaker 5 (55:18):
Pacers fans want that. You know, we would have put
you guys on, except now you're a different team. Like,
do you want the Christmas game?

Speaker 2 (55:24):
No?

Speaker 3 (55:25):
I kind of I kind of want them to pound
Rocks at this point in time. The NBA I've never
needed how much fans?

Speaker 7 (55:31):
What if you got with the NBA? What the games
up in the finals.

Speaker 5 (55:34):
What happened.

Speaker 3 (55:35):
It'd be nice to see them give some love to
the Pacers at some point. That's all right? And so
why pounds because I hold because I hope grudges James.

Speaker 5 (55:44):
That's why.

Speaker 3 (55:46):
I'm what do you think you're the only petty guy here?
What is the beach you're the king of? You're the
king of you're the king of petty. Come on, I'm
just give you what is the The NBA can't control
who gets to the to game seven of the NBA players.
They can control how often they put teams on national television,
something that haven't done a whole lot of with the
Indiana Pacers previous to this.

Speaker 7 (56:05):
Year, right, and well, I'm not. I'm telling you right now.

Speaker 1 (56:06):
If I'm in the room and they told me Hallibird
towards Achilles, I'd be like, well, there goes a couple.

Speaker 5 (56:10):
Of So you're a Pacers season ticket older noon Christmas game?
You want that?

Speaker 4 (56:16):
Or I prefer not?

Speaker 5 (56:17):
Really?

Speaker 3 (56:18):
Yeah, I prefer to just have my Christmas and then
go back to my regularly scheduled broadcast day.

Speaker 5 (56:23):
Nah, I bumped that. You don't think your sons would
enjoy me a hoops that is a Christmas present? Can't
play that on your computer? Probably not? What?

Speaker 11 (56:33):
No?

Speaker 1 (56:34):
Wait all right, tell you're talking about your sons. I
gotta get my number because we gotta get this right now.
This is Indiana, this is Hoops Central.

Speaker 5 (56:43):
We got a plenty of games.

Speaker 3 (56:45):
Christmas, Christmas, Christmas is Christmas is Christmas?

Speaker 5 (56:48):
Oh my?

Speaker 1 (56:49):
Unless you volunteer at a food pantry.

Speaker 7 (56:51):
You gotta be at the game.

Speaker 1 (56:52):
Okay, book book b Okay, I'll call Adam Silver and
I get this all.

Speaker 4 (56:57):
I'm gonna let you buy tickets for Grant for Christmas.

Speaker 1 (56:59):
You get taken, Pop's got it, summer school, summer camp
in Oxford.

Speaker 7 (57:04):
I can get some tickets.

Speaker 5 (57:05):
We'll be all right.

Speaker 1 (57:05):
But no, in all seriousness, I would I would honestly
love a Christmas game with all of that involved, the storylines.
I'm just not sure that the NBA would lean too
far into it. Sometimes I feel like I get into
my bubble here in Indiana and everything matters so much,
which it does obviously to our area, But I still
feel like on a national scale they might be like
Hallaburn's not in there.

Speaker 5 (57:25):
Who they do see?

Speaker 3 (57:27):
I kind of feel like they've never wanted us for
Christmas Day games? Why now? It just don't bother me
fair enough. That's That's where I'm coming from.

Speaker 8 (57:34):
Do them ever again?

Speaker 5 (57:35):
Though? Right? I'm like, but I've already I've already moved
on you.

Speaker 7 (57:40):
You're You're I still want hey, girl, if you love me, if.

Speaker 3 (57:43):
You like me, you ever notice in one way or another,
we always learned a little bit more about James Boyd
every every day.

Speaker 5 (57:54):
Look, I like it.

Speaker 7 (57:54):
I ain't never turn down a good time now.

Speaker 5 (57:56):
Look, I would go if it's an attractive matchup.

Speaker 3 (57:59):
Yeah, I go on a Christmas Day, but at this
point in time, I've gotten used to having my Christmas
with my family.

Speaker 5 (58:03):
I'm okay with that.

Speaker 1 (58:04):
Hey, you stream it and I'll be there in person.
I'll FaceTime you and the kids.

Speaker 5 (58:08):
You get little eight am to eleven am Christmas of
the family, head down a gamberitier. That's you're back at
home by four o'clock.

Speaker 3 (58:14):
That's one great thing about going to sports here in
Indianapolis is you're always home fairly early.

Speaker 5 (58:19):
I love that. I will say this though, and that's
a good thing about those golf out and we two
off at ten thirty today.

Speaker 4 (58:23):
Get people out of here by four.

Speaker 5 (58:24):
Man, you know what, you got the full rest of
your day for you.

Speaker 1 (58:27):
I was just gonna say that, I'm glad that it's earlier.
I want to say the other golf outings I've been to,
which by the way, for anybody to listening, and I
ain't swinging nothing because if I want something, they will
be hitting somebody, which is not what I intend to
do today.

Speaker 5 (58:39):
Mark, how big is the grin on your face right now?

Speaker 7 (58:42):
However?

Speaker 8 (58:43):
I was always there usually?

Speaker 5 (58:44):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (58:46):
On top of that, Yeah, you get a chance to
close it out. Kids coming home from school, Kevin, You
get a chance to see them, you know, and not
have to be out here all day.

Speaker 4 (58:54):
It's good stuff.

Speaker 3 (58:55):
We are out at Legends Golf Course today along with
Franciscan Health for the fan invitation, raising money to support
the incredible cancer care program at Franciscan Health, where innovation
meets compassion. Of course, they offer multidisciplinary programs for breast, lung, prostate, melanoma,
and more. Taylor to every single patience need you go
in there. You're going to be an individual. Is not

(59:16):
one size fits all. They're going to take care of you.
And if you're at risk, for sake, colon long or
breast cancer, all you gotta do is take one of
Franciscan's online health risk assessments and get ahead of your health.
Will tell you more about that as we move along today.
Kevin's going to be swinging the clubs a little bit
later on today, looking forward to that. I notice you've
already been to the putting green a couple of times.

Speaker 5 (59:37):
Gosh, there's just something about putting on a due filled
putting green that I just love.

Speaker 3 (59:42):
Early morning, you can see you can see the track
of your ball. It's kind of cool.

Speaker 4 (59:45):
Man, love that right.

Speaker 3 (59:46):
You're there, all right, So we got that going on today.
We'll tell you more about that in a minute. In
the meantime, let's check it down and let you know
what's happening right here right the morning.

Speaker 2 (59:54):
Checkdout on nineties weee five and one oh seven five fan.

Speaker 3 (59:59):
One of the things happening right here right now are
the Indianapolis Colts who wake up in Baltimore this morning
and they'll get ready for a preseason game tonight. Those
who will play this evening as the Colts and Ravens
kick off at seven o'clock, you'll hear it live right
here on ninety three five and one o seven to five.

Speaker 5 (01:00:14):
The fan who will be playing tonight, James Boyd. That
is a good question.

Speaker 1 (01:00:17):
We know that Anthony Richardson will be starting, and Daniel
Jones will be getting some reps in there as well,
but the rest of the starters haven't really been disclosed.
But I would like to see Ady Mitchell and others
out there.

Speaker 4 (01:00:27):
Kevin, who would you like to see playing this evening.

Speaker 5 (01:00:29):
Yeah, I got a particular item for Ady Mitchell. I
want to see we can hit on that on the
other side. Yeah, obviously you can play all the hits
at the quarterbacks and Mitchell there. I'd like to see
a long field goal or two for Spencer Strader. I'd
like to see the depth of cornerback start to play
out a little bit, because unfortunately that has been an
injury that's been banged up here. And then linebacker. Shout

(01:00:49):
out to the indie product Camera Groan for those watching tonight,
number fifty nine. He right now is a listed starter
on the depth chart. So fifty sixth Street has been
kind of the Colts recently with Jack Doyle. We'll see
if an LC bear is out there one month from
today when it's Colts and Dolphins. One more quick question.

Speaker 3 (01:01:08):
You wed a great story the other day about undrafted
free agents trying to catch on Is there a realistic
chance we get one of those this year?

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
I feel like there always is with the Colts, they
tend to usually get one on the roster. I believe
last year it might have been Dalton Tucker Kevin who
made the final roster as an undrafted free agent.

Speaker 5 (01:01:25):
So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
But I do think that Tyler Common from Kansas actually
one of the kellys state and I think that he's
someone who could possibly make the team.

Speaker 5 (01:01:35):
Remember forty three, Yeah, it's like a practice squad receiver.

Speaker 1 (01:01:38):
He's showing some stuff I start, I think throughout camp.
And the other one was Devonte Davis. So if you
have had a chance to check that out, please feel
free to do so, because honestly, I could probably write
that same story about fifty other guys or not, maybe
not not that many, but all the undrafted guys on
the roster because they all have unique stories.

Speaker 5 (01:01:53):
Those guys really want to nerd out over the undrafted
class late in the game. Obviously, Riley Leonard will play
in the second half, but number thirty five, Jonathan Edwards,
is a long corner out of two lane. Again, with
some of these corner injuries, you might actually see Jonathan Edwards,
for example, a little bit earlier in the game. So
he'd be another name to keep an eye and.

Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
Keep an eye on all those names on special teams
in particular, because that's a place where guys like that
can really distinguish themselves.

Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
Yes, I want to see more Hunter Wohler. I think
that he's had a great camp so far. And I
want to see DJ Giddens, the rookie running back out
of Kansas State.

Speaker 7 (01:02:26):
So there are certainly some players to watch later on tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:02:29):
And now we'll have a four report tomorrow morning actually
on my stock Risers and Follers after tonight, all.

Speaker 4 (01:02:35):
Right, we'll do that also this evening.

Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
The Indiana Fever will play late tonight ten pm.

Speaker 4 (01:02:40):
Tip. They'll be out in Phoenix to take on the Mercury.

Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
Little subtext going on in that basketball game, James Boyd
is we're gonna put that storyline to bed once and
for all tonight.

Speaker 7 (01:02:51):
Probably not. I mean, there's be forever at this point.
That's how it goes.

Speaker 5 (01:02:54):
I thought it was relatively quiet though when they met
a couple weeks ago. Obviously you had the Fever crowd booing,
but like on the floor, I mean, yeah, there wasn't
It wasn't too too much.

Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
I mean you had Alyssa Thomas, the fiance of do
Wanna Chirp? And more crowd to the crowd or whatever,
not really towards the teams, but I think the Sophie
Cunningham comment from her podcast the other day, I believe
it was something along the lines. They'll be like text
to your teammates, I don't know what's going on. That
may not have gone over that could spark something tonight. Yeah,
I think so, because on one hit you're probably thinking,
like you didn't really have to disclose that, but she did,

(01:03:26):
and like I said, I don't mind it.

Speaker 5 (01:03:28):
And if you want to again seven o'clock tonight, it
is on Fox fifty nine in our airwaves for the Colts,
that is Colts and Ravens. Then you could flip over
ten o'clock tonight or the Fever Mercury wrapping up that
West Coast trip.

Speaker 3 (01:03:39):
They'll try to go three and one on it, all right,
But check Major League Baseball yesterday the Chicago Cubs finally
got something together and even Mark doesn't want to hear
about that. Six to one was the final score there,
and they had an immaculate ninth inning from Andrew Kittridge.
And you weren't even happy about that, Mark Dyke, And
I mean, come on.

Speaker 8 (01:03:57):
Well, I that's fine and great. I wish you didn't
get shelled the night before and give four runs after
showed in Monaga had Are.

Speaker 4 (01:04:04):
You not moved on is what you're saying.

Speaker 8 (01:04:06):
Well, I've moved on, and I just they need to
sweep the Cardinals this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:04:10):
I'll speaking of the Cardinals. They beat the Dodgers five
out to respective. It's but that's a Cubs fan in
right there, pure passion.

Speaker 5 (01:04:17):
I love it. Mark Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
Cards beat the Dodgers by the score of five three.
Last night Mariners over the White Sox eight to six.
As far as the Indianapolis Indians are concerned, they played
an afternoon game yesterday over at Victory Field, lost by
one of the Omaha storm Chasers. Five to four was
the final score in that one. Kevin, anything else you
want to throw in.

Speaker 5 (01:04:35):
Any car you Hortland coming up this weekend, So three
races left there. Alex Below can indeed clinch. He really
doesn't have to do too much to clinch. Has to
finish right, absolutely dominant season for him. And yes, the
Darren Devrees era, if you will underway yesterday in Puerto Rico.
That's starting five for those that care. Tayton Connorway transfer

(01:04:56):
from Troy supposed to be a bit of a bull
dog bulldog defense under Connor Enwright. Transfer from to Paul
Lamar Wilkerson, who will shoot it a whole lot last
night he was three or thirteen from three, but he
was one of the more prized forties. Thirteen threes, thirteen
threes for him? All right, jacket up, Yeah, Sam, how
many did you make it? The thirteen three of thirteen

(01:05:18):
from Sam Houston State Tucker Devrees of course, the son
of Darren from West Virginia, than Reed Bailey from Davidson.
So the five transfers all in the starting lineup right there,
trans instantly twenty one points off the bench. Shout out
to a holiday world, shout out to hair to chills.

Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
All right, Mark, we're out here for the Fan Invitational today,
but there's a bigger golf tournament going on at Chatham
Hill soon. Do we have some grounds golf outings?

Speaker 13 (01:05:45):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:05:45):
Well, if you.

Speaker 3 (01:05:46):
Were playing the entire eighteen holes, it would make it bigger.
We've got more and more of an exhibition, she.

Speaker 5 (01:05:50):
Might argue, we got more money on the line here
than they do. Look at these things.

Speaker 7 (01:05:59):
There you go, there you go.

Speaker 8 (01:06:00):
This is a yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:06:04):
All right, So hey, you one of two major tournaments.
So what about that one of two major tournaments in
the air coming up Live Golf. Chata babe, if you
want to go check that out. Mark How many passes
do we have to give away right here right now?

Speaker 5 (01:06:18):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (01:06:19):
Two pairs, so four tickets each, but two period with
different winners.

Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
All right, let's go caller four and collar six.

Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
The hell is that?

Speaker 3 (01:06:27):
I'm gonna ask James boy, I know you're gonna have
to do a little bit of work during the break.

Speaker 8 (01:06:34):
Let's do more. I'll do more work because now apparently
they're signal dropped out, so we'll go to break. I
will take these calls two, three, nine, ten to seven
if you want to get but go to Live Golf
and the boys will be on the other side as
we reset the connection. It's a fan morning show ninety
three five one.

Speaker 5 (01:06:50):
Can we just get this song as the first tea
walk up today? I mean, all you gotta do is ask.

Speaker 8 (01:06:57):
You guys are on the green? You guys are on
the green. I figured this is very appropriate. You guys
are out on the course, lots of green going on.
This is pretty pretty fitting. I would say, look at top,
they might be on the green while on the green.
If you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (01:07:11):
Oh and oh, Mark with the bars twenty past four
rolls around. There'll be a lot of green up in there.

Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
Uh, Kevin, I hope you get the big stick out.
You'll be you can be walking the big dog today
on fifteen good lord, you're dry, Jeff disgusting, You'll be
you'll be doing a long You'll be helping people with
a long drive contest today.

Speaker 5 (01:07:37):
How about that? Man clarification very key there, yeahm I
got word here, Yeah, long drive. You know, I don't
want to, you know, create a unfair expectations. I think
it's a little bit like, you know, all of a sudden,
you see Greg Maddox at the State Fair and you're like, hey,
let's challenge him to a fastball, like the long drive.
I'm not hitting it that far. They're gonna let you
hit from the red tea. But don't beg you of
the airborne. We'll let you hit for the red tea.

(01:07:58):
Some people out here, do we know what hole I'm
doing this long drive?

Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
Fifteen R fifteen on the right said, fifteen R is
what it says.

Speaker 5 (01:08:05):
Fifteen R. Okay, I don't know what the R means, but.

Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
Neither that's what they told me that's where that says
right there, fifteen R that's where you're gonna go right, all.

Speaker 5 (01:08:13):
Right, well I will be out on whole fifteen. Is
that that's part five if I remember correctly, right, Yeah,
that's that's what they do, the long drives. What about you?
Have you ever even swung a golf club?

Speaker 1 (01:08:22):
I swing one every year and we have to do
that challenge with Shane Steichen And I got it into
the water this year, which was a step up from
me because I believe I didn't even get.

Speaker 5 (01:08:30):
Off the ground.

Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
I like it got it into the water. Did you
hear that, Kevin, I got it into the water?

Speaker 7 (01:08:35):
Yeah? I thought it was Hey, it was solid, James.

Speaker 5 (01:08:38):
Something specifically for Adie Mitchell tonight contested catches, alligator armed moments.
You know he won't like this, But there were times
last year I watched Adie Mitchell play football for the
Colts and I thought, oh boy, do we need to
ask about business decisions? There were just a couple of Honestly,
probably more than a couple there were. I don't know,

(01:09:00):
maybe a handful is too unfair, but there was definitely
several times where I felt like he had a chance
to make a play, and honestly, a guy like Michael
Pitvan Jr. I think would have no issue in trying
to make such a play, right, So I think growth
for him. Yeah, it is just eleven on eleven moments
in game settings. You know, that's probably enough of a statement.

(01:09:23):
But if I could get specific with some of the
catches I'd like to see him make. It is in traffic,
it's guys are coming to hit you. You know. Even
the plays he made on Tuesday. Obviously they're great plays,
don't get me wrong, but he knows full well no
one's taking his head off. Whereas now you get in
tonight and that possibility is there. So specifically with Mitchell,

(01:09:43):
He's shown so much and he's an unbelievable separator from
opposing dbs when those moments do arise, where hey man,
this is an NFL window. You got to make a
catch and you got to prepare to be hit. Can
he do that? I think that's specifically something I want
to see from number ten tonight. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
I And that is his mo early on in his
career is that he shotes away from contact. There's a
couple times last year, Kevin where the tape is undeniable.
He alligator armed it across the middle a couple of times,
or maybe he didn't go as fully for the football
as he should have to make the catch, and so
that is the next step in his development for sure.
I'm curious see if it happens tonight, and if he

(01:10:21):
shows that, then hey, I'm on board with him having
a better season obviously than he had last year. Maybe
not eighty catches, though eighty catches a lot. I do
want to ask him about that at this point now.
I want to want to know what is his personal.

Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
I have expectations. Tell him I have expectations.

Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
I feel like your expectations are a little no, a
little love it and not so much left Because you.

Speaker 7 (01:10:43):
Told him you would have eighty catches. Then he said,
said he's stem on fifty yards. That means gonna bet
go be catching the ball for seven yards.

Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
That's what we need from the colt to seven to
ten yard catches.

Speaker 5 (01:10:53):
Do we not need that? Do we not need that?
Didn't you look up the caught around if.

Speaker 7 (01:10:58):
He's catching that, I did. They're gonna have the worth off.

Speaker 4 (01:11:01):
There's maybe eight or ten of them.

Speaker 5 (01:11:03):
Was it like Terry McLaurin.

Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
Yeah, But I think here's the thing the point of
that comment, and I'll stand by it. The talent is there,
he's just got to put it together.

Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
Extremely talented player, he's extremely talented, but he's got that
kind of talent. Can he put it together well? And
this is an area where and I don't know, maybe
next week when the Colts only practice, I guess Monday
and Thursday if I have that right. Next week, Monday
their final day at Grand Park against themselves, and then
Thursday is that joint practice also at Grand Park, and

(01:11:34):
that is the final final day of Colts training camp
at Westfield. But the general question of this, how do
the Colts get in the playoffs this year? Like when
you ask that question, people obviously point two at a
quarterback play people, obviously point two. You have a change
in defensive scheme, You're going to be better on that
side of the ball. Those are the two like easy

(01:11:54):
answers to that question. But if you look at it,
and John and I were talk with this yester afternoon,
an area where they internally James feel like they are
going to be much better is at the past catcher spot,
right like Josh Downs and Alec Pierce played good football
last year. They were bright spots amidst an awful passing offense.

(01:12:15):
So put those to the side. Pierce and Downs, Okay,
go to three other names. A healthy Michael Pittman Jr.
Not dealing with Matthew Stafford's back. Yeah, next on that list,
eighty Mitchell showing real growth from year one to year two.
And then go to third on that list, Tyler Warren
in a Colts uniform. So when you think about past catcher,

(01:12:36):
it's been such an underwhelming group for the past x
amount of years. But if you look at that on paper,
Downs and PIERSO, Downs and Piers. Okay, Pittman, healthy, Mitchell, growth,
war An arrival. If you get one or two of
those three, then your pass catching group should be a
lot better. So again, how do the Colts make the playoffs? Yeah,

(01:12:58):
quarterback play needs to be better, Sure, defense needs to
be better. Those are like the obvious bigger ones. But
that pass catcher one might be third on the list,
but I don't think it's something that's that far fetched.
Pittman has had kind of a quiet I would say
camp so far, but that I don't think is that
much on the back burner.

Speaker 1 (01:13:17):
Yeah, I'm not too concerned about him, just because I
feel like Pittman's up Sunday guy.

Speaker 14 (01:13:22):
He's not gonna He's a rat player. To quote, he's
Harlow right. He's an ultra dependent ether and need to
be in the back court together. He's ultra dependable and
like you say, he'll make the tough catch. You can
depend on him.

Speaker 5 (01:13:33):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (01:13:34):
What I'd like to see develop, what I think can develop,
is for Anthony Richardson and a guy like ad Mitchell
to create a little rapport where they trust each other.

Speaker 5 (01:13:43):
Well, eighty catches hilarious.

Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
I'm looking at who had eighty ketches last year?

Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
That's what we did yesterday.

Speaker 5 (01:13:52):
It's only happened twice in the franchise in the last
ten years. The stat line that Jeff throughout them and
that's what they should be shooting for.

Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
Oh no, well, only my only real If you give
them eighty catches, Jeff, you got to get my boy
more than seven hundred and fifty yards.

Speaker 7 (01:14:07):
They're doing that. They're not making the playoff.

Speaker 5 (01:14:09):
I think I said seven hundred and fifty eight hundred
yards something like that.

Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
Oh, that's a dinking and dunk and they're gonna lose
every game.

Speaker 4 (01:14:14):
No, it's it's media again.

Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
It's medium range passes, which has been the problem.

Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
You've got to make twelve.

Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
Yards offenses though, which is done in all. Seriously, if
he had that many yards for eighty catches, which was
that would be all he's doing, their offense will be terrible.
So they need some explosives there for sure. And I'm
excited to see what Ady Mitchell can do because he's talking.

Speaker 4 (01:14:34):
A big game so far, and I'm saying, let's step
up and get to it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
No, I'm not saying that. I appreciate you believing in them.
I wanted somebody need somebody believeing in me, like Jeff
believes in Ady Mitchell. But Ady Mitchell in particular, I
think he knows that he has to, you know, show
up bit more this year, be more consistent, and really
just how some toughness. I mean, that's the biggest thing.
I'm not doubting that he's a tough guy. He's played
a lot of big games, played at you know, big
time universities, but the different beasts, and he hasn't shown

(01:15:01):
that just yet, but it is promising.

Speaker 5 (01:15:04):
One of the things I like about him, and can
he live up to it? Now?

Speaker 3 (01:15:08):
Is now he's he's talking the talk like your wide
receiver one.

Speaker 5 (01:15:11):
Diva right now?

Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
Is he not honestly did that last year carrying himself
that way? He did it last year and you did
didn't do anything in the real.

Speaker 4 (01:15:17):
Gay So live up to it.

Speaker 5 (01:15:18):
Yeah, that's all I'm asking.

Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
We are out here at Franciscan and we're asking for
a great day, and we have been blessed with a
beautiful day on the golf course today.

Speaker 5 (01:15:27):
We are buzzing already.

Speaker 3 (01:15:28):
People are starting to arrive and show up about a
ten thirty off today.

Speaker 5 (01:15:33):
Ten o one Kevin hanging there, hanging and have a
drink till one?

Speaker 7 (01:15:36):
Are you going to crack it?

Speaker 6 (01:15:37):
Oh man?

Speaker 7 (01:15:38):
Nine am HOURD what once?

Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
He said?

Speaker 5 (01:15:40):
You know people are buzzing.

Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
I'm like, well, these people we're hosting today. It's not
CARB Day where we're out there as a guest. We're
hosting that day cracking what you mean?

Speaker 5 (01:15:51):
And I see heaven Hill on sixteen B, I see
fireball in twelve. I didn't say you couldn't.

Speaker 4 (01:15:56):
I said ten o one way ten one.

Speaker 7 (01:15:59):
This is not fun at all.

Speaker 5 (01:16:01):
At eleven B have. We got to look at who
the Twin Peaks group was going to be not you know,
I'm just saying here.

Speaker 3 (01:16:07):
Ten on one, you'd be good to go. Man, I'm
just trying to get you to pace yourself. Police man,
just trying to get him to pace himself. We're in
the paddy wagon.

Speaker 5 (01:16:14):
Kevin, the boss has got my handcuffs on here.

Speaker 4 (01:16:16):
My boss is here. What do you want from me?

Speaker 5 (01:16:19):
So I go.

Speaker 7 (01:16:19):
I think your boss would be like, Kevin, crack a beer.

Speaker 4 (01:16:24):
We'll ask her.

Speaker 5 (01:16:24):
We go sneak one in the cart bar and like
I'm working a plumbree.

Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
Per, go up to entry and say, hey, just just
give one to her too, and say are you ready?

Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
Let's go see how that Coas.

Speaker 7 (01:16:34):
Someone said, jamb drinks only the year, all the time.

Speaker 5 (01:16:37):
That may be true or not true. I'm not different
rules for j Kevin bowing at the station.

Speaker 3 (01:16:44):
We are definitely having a good time hanging out. Hopefully
all of you are coming to join us. Who many
of you are for the Fan Invitational sponsored by Franciscan Health,
will tell you all about that in a minute.

Speaker 5 (01:16:53):
Mark.

Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
Do we have winners for the grounds passes to the
live tournament? Were you able to make it through collars
four and six without dying.

Speaker 8 (01:17:00):
Well, yeah, I also had to man the show because
your signal dropped out. But yeah, we had a shout
out to Chris who won the first set of tickets,
and then we had Anthony who won the second set.
They're all both very excited and then some other people.
I said, Hey, we got one more set to give
away tomorrow, so hang in there.

Speaker 5 (01:17:16):
All right.

Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
That'll be next week's golf tournament out at Chatham Hills
Live Golf. We are here for Franciscan and the if
An Invitational. Will tell you all about that. Talk more
about tonight's preseason game with the Colts and the Ravens,
a little bit more on the fever as well as
we continue at ninety three five and the fan.

Speaker 5 (01:17:34):
I like beer cuts It's good. I drink beer because
I should.

Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
If there was a song to sing, I sing it.

Speaker 5 (01:17:40):
And deer you drink, I drink beer.

Speaker 7 (01:17:42):
When I am said, because the beer.

Speaker 5 (01:17:44):
It makes me glad.

Speaker 8 (01:17:45):
Now there's nothing left you say, so that's.

Speaker 5 (01:17:48):
Go drink beer.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
You were listening to a fan morning show on ninety
three and one seven.

Speaker 5 (01:17:54):
Join Bears, John, Let's go and drink so.

Speaker 3 (01:17:59):
James Boyd moving, Kevin Bowen s and beer is good.
You and Homer Simpson right there, beer is good.

Speaker 7 (01:18:06):
Mark, you are the best.

Speaker 5 (01:18:07):
Now I'm a little nervous to ask this, am I.

Speaker 6 (01:18:12):
Am?

Speaker 5 (01:18:12):
I gonna get in trouble if I do drink a beer.
You you made it clear I have to wait till
ten oh one. You're a big boy. You do whatever
you want to do.

Speaker 7 (01:18:20):
I'm thinking you think of ten fifty one. I'm just
pointing out fifty one.

Speaker 3 (01:18:24):
I'm just pointing out that you know it's a little
early and you're hosting a golf tournament.

Speaker 5 (01:18:28):
That's all boy.

Speaker 4 (01:18:29):
I don't know. I don't know that I personally, I
personally don't.

Speaker 5 (01:18:32):
Have a problem with you do.

Speaker 4 (01:18:34):
I just know my boss is here? There we go, here,
it goes right here, you know what?

Speaker 5 (01:18:39):
Here it goes right times where you know you gotta
maybe go against the boss. The chaut out to listener.
Chris and his Patriots gear has delivered a cold Miller
light And honestly, I would just be rude if I
would have said no, now, Patriots fan, this could be
laced with something so uh, but nonetheless.

Speaker 8 (01:18:59):
Probably tastes a little flat, right, a little flat.

Speaker 5 (01:19:03):
Ye look at that. That was really good, very good
by Mark Dyton.

Speaker 4 (01:19:06):
Mark.

Speaker 5 (01:19:06):
I hoped the sound effect played out there, and I'm
gonna have my first sip at eight. I feel like
to certain events you just travel with a six pack
of Miller Light. Well, no, this is this is Curtesy
listener support turned out a listener. No, I mean that's
just rude.

Speaker 15 (01:19:23):
So U yeah, I did notice you wait until Andrey
was not around though, Well, I mean again, we are
a it's a golf outing. Well, yes, that, but honestly
we without Chris jobs man. So no, Chris is the
main all for that that. I'm simply just going to
have a beer. So a sip or two, boy, it

(01:19:44):
tastes great.

Speaker 8 (01:19:45):
I was at a carpenter's golf outing. I just wanted
to make sure I was at a carpenter's golf outing
on Sunday. You think they waited till eight fifty to
start cracking drinks?

Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
No, no, no, I just wanted to make Kevin make
sure that Andrew was around the other side of the building.

Speaker 6 (01:19:58):
Did that?

Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
That's all I did.

Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
Hurt here, I'm trying to take care of you, team Kevin.
Big bosses here I'm trying to make sure you're okay.

Speaker 5 (01:20:05):
A month and I'm being told when I can have
a beer when.

Speaker 8 (01:20:08):
I Kevin's gonna talk me to in the parking lot
later today.

Speaker 5 (01:20:12):
It's gonna be a long hour and ten minutes.

Speaker 4 (01:20:14):
In the old days.

Speaker 5 (01:20:15):
Yes, he would crack.

Speaker 7 (01:20:16):
Down on you if you call you Kevy. Later on, Kevy,
he called me Kevin made a decision.

Speaker 4 (01:20:21):
I think earlier, Kevin, you missed it.

Speaker 5 (01:20:23):
I did call him Kevin.

Speaker 7 (01:20:25):
Does he you pinch his tiaks too?

Speaker 5 (01:20:27):
Well?

Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
I patted him on the head, But that's a different story.
We are getting ready for Colts preseason game number one
later on tonight. You're gonna be good to go by.

Speaker 4 (01:20:34):
The time seven o'clock rolls around all day in the
sun and little little.

Speaker 5 (01:20:39):
Miller light all day long. Well, it probably won't be
the last one I have. Oh yeah, it'll be a
long day. And what James seven o'clock kicks? So what
are we looking at? First half over by about eight
thirty eight fifteen, Riley Leonard time.

Speaker 1 (01:20:52):
And I want to be done writing by about eight
forty five.

Speaker 5 (01:20:55):
Yeah, good luck with that.

Speaker 1 (01:20:57):
Yeah, I mean I'll be writing about guys who are
important for the season.

Speaker 5 (01:21:01):
But you know how that goes by Leonard.

Speaker 1 (01:21:02):
But he will not be relevant to the Colts this season,
and if he is, that means that they're probably going
to get a top five pick.

Speaker 5 (01:21:08):
Thanking Andy drinking beer makes for better radio. I I
can't say I disagree with that statement. And Rex put
it in a red solo cup and he referred to
you as dad.

Speaker 4 (01:21:17):
I am not a proposed It's just my boss is here.

Speaker 5 (01:21:20):
Your boss is here. That's what make sure everybody's good
to go. I'm protecting you, Kevin sports radio station at
a golf outing, I know. I mean, geez, Kevin's going
at a in the morning. Growl man, this is an
hour and forty five minutes later than I had one.

Speaker 3 (01:21:36):
Could we get you some fr I mean you can
put that on your frosted flakes and just go all
out right.

Speaker 5 (01:21:42):
Oh yeah, that actually sounds halfway decent. I knew that.
I knew as soon as I said, By the way,
I had Senmente's crunch a few weeks back. I love
that's always in our pantry always. How about the flags?
So we have up here at the Lovely Legends Golf Course.
So we have some collegiate flags up. We see Indiana
perdue again a nineteen ninety one on the clock here
at the legends. I believe that's what I guess. That's

(01:22:04):
when this place is built. Bob Knight was a frequent
visitor here to the legend. So the IU flag honestly
looks like well, Bob Knight air? Is that Saint John's?

Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
I see?

Speaker 5 (01:22:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:22:13):
Kansas Jayhawks?

Speaker 5 (01:22:14):
St? John's?

Speaker 4 (01:22:15):
Is that a hill top hill?

Speaker 5 (01:22:17):
Put that flag up today? Did Rick Patino put the
other one up? I mean, I'm fascinated to know why
the other three flags are Kansas, Saint John's and Western Kentucky? Well,
I want can you explain that to me at all? Well,
the Butler people come out and see the stud We
need to get ted Bishop over now.

Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
I'm sure ted Bishop has an explanation for us. We'll
have to talk to him about it.

Speaker 5 (01:22:40):
Sure it does. James Boyd. Anything we haven't hit on yet.
You know I've brought up to justin Wally injury. I
don't know when you had a nice pass breakup. Guys
are getting their knees iced. It makes me a little nervous.

Speaker 1 (01:22:52):
Yeah, he had a nice pass breakup in eleven eleven
on a deep ball believe from Lamar Jackson. So you're thinking, man,
this guy's really taking another step forward, and then he
has to exit practice with the knee. We don't know
the severity of it just yet, so I don't want
to like speculate about how severe it is and certainly
don't don't want to put any bad juju out there. However,
it is concerning, and I would assume that he isn't

(01:23:14):
going to be available tonight because you want to protect
them for a month from now when you're doing your
season opener.

Speaker 7 (01:23:18):
So we'll see how that goes.

Speaker 1 (01:23:20):
But from a depth standpoint, all the depth you had
or you thought you had a cornerback, it's kind of
dried up because of injuries. And sometimes that's just football
and the unfortunate nature of it when it comes to
just the physicality and how unlucky you can be sometimes.
But beyond cornerback, I'm curious about Hunter Wohler and what
his role will be.

Speaker 7 (01:23:39):
Kevin, Yeah, so how big it could be?

Speaker 5 (01:23:41):
What's safety? Atta Wisconsin seventh round pick? And when you
say that, are you inferring that he's obviously going to
make the team in your eyes. In my eyes as well,
he's going to play consistent role on special team. Do
you think he could play a defensive role?

Speaker 6 (01:23:55):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
And my thing is okay, Let's say, for example, when
Hunter will got his interception on Lamar Jackson, which was
in like their last two minute drill, he was playing linebacker.
And then the second time he got an interception which
was actually tipped by Cameron mcgroen, he caught that at safety.
So with that in mind, I just wonder could he

(01:24:16):
be in Actually shout to Zach Kicks, who covers the
Colts for Sports Illustrated and locked on Colts alongside Jake Arthur,
who's also a fantastic human being. They were both kind
of theorizing could he be like their two minute drill linebacker?
You're dime linebacker in the sungier and he can run.

Speaker 5 (01:24:33):
Clayton Gathers played a role to kind of get Colts
fans a little bit on that. You know, this is,
you know a handful of years ago at this point.
But to answer your question, yes, I legit, and I
would add this too to that plate. James, And again
for those that have not seen Hunter Woler yet, number thirty,
when you watch tonight. Yeah, good sized safety and again
playing a little dime linebacker. The Colts played the top

(01:24:54):
five tight ends in the league from last year, right,
Travis Kelce, George Kittle, Drey mcbri, John news Smith, all
those guys, brock Bauers, you know, those guys that led
the league and receiving. So I would say this, yes,
dime linebacker. But also we know lou Ana Roumo has
said before he doesn't want defensive backs, guard and tight ends, right,
you know he thinks that, you know, you got to

(01:25:16):
have a little bigger safety kind of in that realm.
So is that a hunter? Well, now there's a lot
to put on the rookies play it is, but do
you trust that?

Speaker 1 (01:25:23):
But the flip side of it, in my opinion, is
that he played so much at Wisconsin, and he also
played a variety of positions at Wisconsin. Now, it's not
the same as the NFL. There's better athletes, better schemes,
and obviously more complicated nature of the game. But with
his background him being kind of like the I want
to say his dad might have coach football as well,
so he's kind of the football life for already, even

(01:25:44):
though he's obviously a young player. So just growing up
in that sort of environment, playing those types of roles
at Wisconsin and then having expanded role in the NFL,
it's helping him I think, kind of acclim in itself faster.
And again, is he someone you can rely on when
you need more of a guy who can run all
there on the back end or even in like that
mid tier secondary. So I think he's somebody who's going
to be a player for him, I really do.

Speaker 5 (01:26:05):
We do have a poll here out from a listener
before we get to Nate Akins at the top of
the hour. This courtesy of Jennifer. Jennifer, thank you very
much for this. Jennifer says, should Kevin Bowen be allowed
to have a beer at the golf outing before ten
oh one am? There are two choices here, Yes it
is a golf outing or no, no fun allowed. I

(01:26:26):
hope our listeners know one hundred percent. But you have
it showed up right now, Wayne, please we have we
have a Jeff Rickard vote of no. Jake was scratching
my back on the tarbay a few I have.

Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
I have a sneaking suspicion it's gonna be about ninety
nine percent put up the Kansas flag.

Speaker 5 (01:26:45):
People are asking this, Jake, I mean you more than
any Why do we have a Kansas Saint John's. Is
that Lou Stanley in the house, Kenny l Ross and
Lo Stanley in the house. We can get this party started.
Why do we have a Western Kentucky Saint John's? And
can into flags? Can you explain that, Jake?

Speaker 9 (01:27:04):
Excellent question. You gotta be somebody you know in college
they would say if you fail to class, you flagged it,
because like, yeah, I flagged every class.

Speaker 5 (01:27:14):
There we go, I like it the rest of them.

Speaker 4 (01:27:19):
All Right, we're gonna take a quick time out.

Speaker 3 (01:27:20):
We were at Legends Golf Course for the Fan Invitational today,
brought to you by Franciscan Health.

Speaker 4 (01:27:25):
We've got lots to do.

Speaker 3 (01:27:26):
Actually coming up at a minute, we're gonna talk colts
with Nate Adkins. So we'll do that next as we
continue ninety three five and one oh seven.

Speaker 5 (01:27:32):
Five the Fan.

Speaker 3 (01:27:38):
Kevin's happy man Miller lte in hand golf clubs that
they're ready the Fan Invitational.

Speaker 4 (01:27:45):
He's off at about ten thirty.

Speaker 5 (01:27:48):
By the way, Yeah, the boss stopped by.

Speaker 3 (01:27:51):
No I know, and everything's cool now, right, Andrea stop
by James Boyd and what was her then on what
she said?

Speaker 4 (01:27:56):
What was her vote?

Speaker 7 (01:27:57):
You said, it's a golf outing yourself.

Speaker 5 (01:28:00):
Say no more, she said, she said she was jealous.

Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
I was trying to protect you from her. So now
that we've gotten the green light from her, we're good
to go.

Speaker 5 (01:28:07):
Gosh, it tastes great. It's unbelievable. You must feeling what.
I probably do this once every four or five months,
you know, have a beer during the show, which is
just part of the job. Boy, every time I do it,
I'm like, man, this is dangerous.

Speaker 4 (01:28:23):
You're a brave man. That's all I can say.

Speaker 5 (01:28:25):
Brave man.

Speaker 3 (01:28:26):
Do we have Nate Atkins on the phone line right
now as we get ready for the Colts preseason game
for the Ravens a little bit later on Tonight from
the Indie Star, he covers the team and joins us,
says he often does here in the Payless Liquors hotline.
Good morning, Nate. See if you were here, we'd let
you have a light layer. Definitely be cheers in with me.

Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
You'd be good. You'd be there, right, Nate, I'd be.

Speaker 5 (01:28:46):
Cheers in with you.

Speaker 6 (01:28:47):
I wouldn't love the fact that someone put up a
canvas flag. That doesn't make any sense to me, but
I would be there to cheer me Kevin for sure.

Speaker 5 (01:28:55):
Now we did get a load down from Ted Bishop.
He rattled off all the reasons these flags are up
there and not to go through the whole like family tree.
But basically he's got connections to all of these schools.
Leg connection Yeah, like family members, daughters, sons. They said
his grandson's gonna be a manager on the Purdue basketball team.

Speaker 6 (01:29:11):
This year.

Speaker 5 (01:29:11):
The pro here At Legends went to Western Kentucky. Shout
out Jack Doyle top top. So we have a little
bit of explanation. Okay on that, I'm not falling totally.
You are an Ohio state guy. You made that abundantly
clear as your Buckeyes bet my Irish in the national title.
Your hatred for Kansas is where.

Speaker 6 (01:29:29):
I went to Miszoo. So there's two teams for me.

Speaker 5 (01:29:33):
So yeah, that correct, Yeah, yeah, all right, it makes
some sense, got it? Yep, that makes total sense, So
go ahead.

Speaker 7 (01:29:40):
I do want to pivot some more cult related news there.

Speaker 1 (01:29:44):
Nay, we were out at practice and you saw what
Adie Mitchell did to those Ravens defenders and I would
argue that none of them could really stand a chance
against him.

Speaker 7 (01:29:53):
What's the next step for Ady Mitchell?

Speaker 1 (01:29:54):
And what do you want to see from him tonight
assuming he plays in the preseason opener.

Speaker 6 (01:30:00):
Yeah, that was a show he put on the other
day out at the Ravens facility. Burnt toast, I believe,
is the phrase he gave to Wiggins when he burned
him on that fade route, and that's it's just encouraging
to see him stack these days. As they say, it's
weird to go from you know, first week of camp
where it felt like he couldn't catch the ball and

(01:30:21):
he couldn't stay at his feet to all of a
sudden he is not only doing both of those, but
he's basically unguardable deep and along the sidelines and drew
two penalties the other day too. They just can't they
just can't handle him. And you see the confidence come
alive with some of that chirping. But we've seen that
in practice too, so we need to see that in
the game setting and really not until the regular season.

(01:30:43):
Hits and teams are game planning against him, and you know,
crowds are real and all that stuff where we really
going to know that, but it would be nice to
see it in the game setting.

Speaker 4 (01:30:52):
What I really want to see.

Speaker 6 (01:30:54):
Tonight, since Anthony Richardson is starting and playing for a
quarter and a half before Daniel Jones comes in, I
want to see that deep ball get going for both
of them. So Ady Mitchell needs to show that he
can do that in a game setting that's a little
bit more real than practice, and Anthony Richson needs to
show that that part of his game is still consistent

(01:31:16):
like last year then all when he's focused so much
on the short throws, and if they're able to show
a little bit more of that, that's going to be
huge for both of them, for Anthony winning the job
and for Ady Mitchell showing that he has a role
in this offense that they have to have him on
the field for. Because if you think about it, right now,
they have three eight hundred yard wide receivers coming back,
and then they add Tyler Warren to the mix. That's

(01:31:38):
going to lower the pressure on Ady Mitchell to perform.
It's amazing to think last year he finished fourth on
the team interceptions, even though he had the worst catch
percentage in the history of the franchise. It just showed
you how kind of bare the receiving options were after
those top three guys. So this year, you add in
Tyler One, you bring back those receivers, you add a

(01:32:00):
pass catching running back. We will see how good he is.
But he has the skills in DJ Ginnons, it's less
pressure on Adie Mitchell, but you still want him to
have a role. You want him to hit some of
that upside as a second round pick, and it's theoretically
a perfect fit for an offense that's going to run
the ball as much as they are, that's going to
pull safeties into the box to handle both Anthony Richardson

(01:32:23):
or Daniel Jones with Jonathan Taylor in those play action
opportunities to then go deep if he's one on one.
What we've seen in camp over the last week is
that he has a skill set that's just far advanced
above most cornerbacks in this league. Of course, we've got
to see him catch the ball. We've got to see
him run smooth routs, get on the page of the quarterback,

(01:32:43):
all the things he didn't do last year. If he
can start to show some of those and just look
like he's maturing and developing in a lot of the
football ways. I mean, he still has all the upside
to be a big play player for this team, and
it would really raise the ceiling of offense that I'm
convinced is going to run the ball really well since
they have the two mobile quarterbacks in Jonathan Taylor. But

(01:33:08):
if they can add that part to their passing game
in addition to that, you know, this could all start
to work out for a player who's got all the
talent in the world, but you know, it didn't show
a lot of it in the games last year.

Speaker 5 (01:33:18):
It's a voice in Nate Atkins Live in Baltimore seven o'clock.
You can hear it right here on these airways FOX
fifty nine locally from a TV standpoint, Nate, I want
to get a little bit more into the quarterbacks you
mentioned there. You want to see a deep ball Richardson
and Jones. I definitely hear you out on the Jones part.
I don't know, Richardson, I get what you're saying. We've
yet to really see the deep ball uncorked maybe a

(01:33:39):
ton in camp, and you have questions maybe a little
bit in regards to the shoulder with that. I'd probably
go the other way though, with Richardson, like, yeah, I
know he can do that again. I get where you're
coming from with the surgery and everything and the soreness
he had in the spring, but I'd rather see boring.
I'd rather see sustained drive underneath accuracy. Is the wider

(01:34:00):
basse hold up in live settings where he can get hit.
I think I'm more in that boat with him in
regards to how he looks tonight on the field.

Speaker 6 (01:34:11):
Yeah, I definitely get that. I mean when we've seen
that in camp, we joked about how normally when a
receiver hits like a five yard outthrow in training camp
or quarterback hits it, we just kind of shrug it off,
but not with Anthony because that's the throw he couldn't make.
Dating back to the combine when he threw next to CJ. Strout,
he just could not hit outthrows for anything. And now

(01:34:32):
he's starting to, and so that's what we wanted to
see coming in. We've seen a lot of it. I
just think as far as the quarterback competition goes, as
they take this into two preseason games, the separator is
going to ultimately be that upside because we know Daniel
Jones can hit those outthrows and those short throws and
complete passes, and that's why it stayed fairly closed. It

(01:34:54):
feels like as you watch these two and it doesn't
feel like you know, there's been a lot of separation yet.
I think separation is going to come with the deep
ball because I just from what I've seen from Daniel Jones'
career and in training camp so far, I just don't
know how much that's in his back, how much he's
willing to do it, how much he sees it early on.
There's been opportunities where he's had a guy like Adie

(01:35:16):
Mitchell just win win a route immediately off the ball,
and rather than throw it and aired out down the field,
he's going back shoulder, which can still get you a
twenty yard game, but not those catch and run opportunities
all the way down the field that Alex Pearce was
able to turn him last year with Anthony Richardson. So
we do know it's in Anthony's bag, and I have

(01:35:36):
confidence it'll be back. I think it's just sort of
a rusty, rusty deep ball right now. After he took
him off from throwing in the spring and he spent
all of his time away from the facility focusing on
the short passes, and that's been their focus. Some confident
it'll be back. I'm just thinking that once it is back,
if that happens as early as tonight, I think this

(01:35:58):
race is going to be over. Earlier that it's over.
The earlier they can move on to building around one quarterback,
having these receivers work with one quarterback, and I think
that's going to be important for guys like Ady Mitchell
and Tyler Warren and DJ get into our young players
that we saw last year in the year before. When
you switch quarterbacks and you change the styles on them

(01:36:20):
as passers, and when these two quarterbacks are very different,
that just seems to wear on players so well. I
understand them making this a competition and they want Anthony
to earn it, and that all makes sense at some
point to hap into this upside of this offense. I
think they are going to need to have one guy
and would I would like that to happen earlier than later.

Speaker 3 (01:36:42):
Nate Atkins and you start joining us, Colt Ravens later
on tonight seven o'clock kickoff. We'll start our coverage at
four o'clock with JMV and then the Colts broadcast network
and Nate. I'm just curious, like what is the state
of the kicking game for the Colts right now, because
it just seems like we have no idea going into
the season what's going to happen.

Speaker 6 (01:37:04):
Yeah, it's two guys who are about as unproven as
a common So you know, out in trading camp, Spencer
Trader has been the better kicker from what we've seen
and what we've gathered from some of the numbers that
Brian Mason is always proud to share with us. But
you know, it's he also said, especially since coordinator Brian
Mason said that, you know, he looks for kickers to

(01:37:26):
be at ninety percent this time of year where's the
crowds and weather and all of that. And Spencer's not
quite there either, So they haven't had a separation yet.
That's where the preseason games are going to really matter
because it is more of a game setting game situations.
I think we're going to see them try kicks and
situations where in the regular season they will go for it.

(01:37:49):
Just Shanestiken's aggressiveness and the run game personnel and doing
the numbers, but they're going to have those kicks in
the preseason to try to get that separation, and it's
still going to be a wild card heading in week one.
We've seen this before where it's always gonna do with
kickers because we don't talk a lot about them in
training camp in the preseason, and then all of a sudden,
you're in Week one or week two, and it's what

(01:38:10):
everyone in the world wants to talk about when it's
not going well. And so I still think that's out
there kind of no matter how it goes, because these
guys are unproven and it is such a mental confidence position.
But I think if we see some separation, especially on
those longer kicks, that's going to matter because that ended
up being what hurt Matt Gay in the end, is

(01:38:31):
that he became reliable once he got healthy from forty
yards and in, but those deep kicks were just never there,
and it wasn't there enough to justify a big contract
to this guy. This is a different situation where these
guys are here on the cheap, so it's not as
much pressure on that, and I do think based on
their lack of proven ability, that will lead Shane Stike

(01:38:54):
into Ford even more. But there's gonna be moments where
they're going to want to get three points and you
know it's fourth and eight and they're you know, they're
at the thirty two yard line or something like that.
So it is an important position. And I think these
two preseason games, as much as they'll tell us about
the quarterbacks, I think they'll tell us a lot about
the kickers as well.

Speaker 1 (01:39:15):
Last one for me, Nate, this is more of just
on the Baltimore scene. What food are you trying later on?

Speaker 5 (01:39:22):
Let's end on that note.

Speaker 1 (01:39:23):
You know, I know you're always trying to get me
to try things. Were on the road together and sometimes
it look at you like you're crazy, because I'm like,
I'm not going that far. But in Baltimore, what are
you looking forward to grab it to eat later on
today or maybe after the game.

Speaker 6 (01:39:39):
Yeah, I'm looking I'm looking to get some crab cakes.
I know you had some of that the other night.
I did not indulge in those, and I kind of
regret that at this point. And so whenever you come
out to Maryland, Maryland crab is the is the thing
to go with. So that's what I'm looking for. I
think you enjoyed those the other night, not the catfish.
So so I take that recommendation to heart, and so

(01:40:01):
I think it's gonna it's gonna be pretty good once
they get some crab cakes.

Speaker 1 (01:40:05):
Yeah, I went filling the catfish and gris soggy catfish?

Speaker 7 (01:40:08):
Not it, Kevin.

Speaker 5 (01:40:09):
Crab cakes and football sounds better than catfish soggy griff.
That wasn't it?

Speaker 7 (01:40:14):
That little what's going on that day?

Speaker 4 (01:40:16):
Nate? Thanks for stopping by, man, I appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (01:40:19):
Yeah, thanks for having me.

Speaker 3 (01:40:21):
You bet Nate Atkins the indie star on the Payless
Slickers hotline. So that was the highlight of your trip
to crabcakes?

Speaker 1 (01:40:26):
Yeah, I mean, I'm I'm a simple man. You go
on the road and someone tells you this is what
this place is known for.

Speaker 7 (01:40:33):
You ordered that.

Speaker 5 (01:40:35):
Twitter poll update here from the Football That's what Maryland does.
Thank you Mark Dykor for that stuff. Jennifer, should Kevin
Bone be allowed to have a beer at the golf
outing before ten oh one am? So far the pole
is four point percent. I haven't voted, by the way, Jennifer,

(01:40:58):
did you say Jeff Record is the only no on
that I have not voted? Yet leave. That's the case.

Speaker 7 (01:41:03):
It's Jeff and his burner accounts.

Speaker 5 (01:41:04):
I need the Legends cat is showing up here and
trying that's a Baker sip of my Baker. That's Baker
Baker Mayfield trying to get a sip of my Miller
light here.

Speaker 4 (01:41:15):
You're gonna get the cat drunk before you.

Speaker 5 (01:41:18):
Got to draw the line somewhere.

Speaker 3 (01:41:20):
You know, we are out at Legends golf course. It
is at golf outing today. I'm good with that, Kevin.
I just want to make sure that the boss was
good with it. That's all I wanted to protect you, man,
That's it.

Speaker 5 (01:41:31):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:41:32):
The boss came over here, was pretty cool.

Speaker 5 (01:41:33):
The Boss came over here, very great. All right.

Speaker 3 (01:41:38):
We are going to be out here all day long
with Franciscan and our fine friends over there. We're gonna
tell you a little bit more about some of the
things they do for cancer screening, especially skin cans are
coming up in just a moment.

Speaker 4 (01:41:47):
Here.

Speaker 3 (01:41:47):
We've got a food truck out here today. I'll give
you all the details on that. The legendary food truck,
which is as good as it gets, going to be
lunched to provide it throughout the day, James, So you'll
get your food here. Don't worry about that, you know me.
That's that's what we have going on here. In the meantime,
let's check.

Speaker 2 (01:42:02):
It down the morning checkdown on ninety sweet five and
one oh seven five.

Speaker 3 (01:42:08):
The fan, Mark any truth to the Room of the Year.
Back at the studio, cracking up in a Miller light
right now.

Speaker 8 (01:42:14):
No beers here, but I'll be heading out that way
after the show. So yeah, I'll all crack one open
with Kevin.

Speaker 4 (01:42:20):
All right, sounds good you Mark.

Speaker 3 (01:42:22):
We've got football season that might see your antics yesterday?

Speaker 8 (01:42:26):
Wow, might I might have a cooler for you, Kevin,
I might have a cooler of something for you coming near.

Speaker 4 (01:42:31):
You can tell James it got contentious yesterday.

Speaker 11 (01:42:34):
Right.

Speaker 3 (01:42:35):
He's gonna try to put you up with a cooler
of Miller light, is what he's going to try to do.
Mark diton in the meantime four o'clock coverage today for
the Wife and a Ravens seven o'clock kickoff time. You're
gonna have to let that one go at some point,
Kevin and I let it go at some point. I
don't think so, but we will be able to listen
to that live right here on ninety three five one
oh seven five the fan Matt Taylor will have the

(01:42:56):
play by play jamb You'll get you good to go
starting at four, and then of course you can watch
it on Fox fifty nine tonight, and then afterwards we'll
have ten o'clock start tip off between the Indiana Fever
and the Phoenix Mercury. That one will be heard on
WIBC and then you can watch that one where Fever.

Speaker 5 (01:43:16):
I want to say, is it Prime WTHR locally? I think,
don't quote me on that, but that's usually been the
cadence here.

Speaker 4 (01:43:24):
Thirty THHR and Amazon Prime.

Speaker 5 (01:43:26):
So yeah, it's a busy Thursday night here, say that
in a month of August. But yeah, again, just remind
people from a voices standpoint who they're here on our airwaves.
It will be Matt Taylor along with Charles Arbuckle unfortunately
coach vent Ury unable to travel to the road games.
And then TV wise it will be Joe Wrights joining
Greg Regstraw in the booth there. So that's your action

(01:43:47):
tonight here from Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (01:43:50):
All right, as I mentioned, the Fever coming off Alosity
Los Angeles, Sparks the other night. We'll try to get
back on their winning waves against the Phoenix Mercury tonight
again ten pm.

Speaker 5 (01:43:59):
Is tip that game will be heard. As I said
on w ib C, you surprised there four point underdog
James Fever not on the road.

Speaker 4 (01:44:07):
Not necessarily, not to me.

Speaker 1 (01:44:10):
I think the Photous Mercury have played pretty good basketball
this year, so I think they might leave us off
a better record than the Fever. I don't quote me
on that, but not too surprised by it. But I
should be a good matchup nonetheless.

Speaker 4 (01:44:21):
All right.

Speaker 3 (01:44:21):
Meanwhile, major League Baseball, yesterday the Cups beat the Reds
by a score of six to one. Saint Louis Cardinals
got past the Dodgers by a score of five to three.
It was the Mariners of the White Sox eight to
six Victory Field. Not too kind to the Indians yesterday
they lost an afternoon game to the Omaha Storm Chasers
five to four.

Speaker 5 (01:44:38):
Was this final score?

Speaker 6 (01:44:39):
There?

Speaker 4 (01:44:39):
They will play again a little bit later on tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:44:42):
As I'm starting to get the beer burps.

Speaker 3 (01:44:44):
Oh that's okay, this is why, this is why I
worry about it. But I'm I'm good with it if
you're good with it, I'm good with it.

Speaker 5 (01:44:49):
I don't know, right they come through, yeah, Mark, they
as the audio caught it yet I'm not Yeah up.

Speaker 7 (01:44:56):
This is my question.

Speaker 1 (01:44:57):
So when you're when you're growing up and your parents
say over and over again, I'm good with this, I'm.

Speaker 5 (01:45:02):
Good with this, I'm good with this. Are they really
good with it? I don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:45:05):
I feel like my mom was always you know, Jeff.

Speaker 4 (01:45:08):
Yeah, like your parents will tell you if they're not good.

Speaker 7 (01:45:11):
Yeah, Jeff, are you are you?

Speaker 5 (01:45:12):
Are you win? Or I guesst It's Jeff going by
the office. Pull out the Kevin Bowen record and put
demerit August seven, drank beer at the For.

Speaker 4 (01:45:21):
All the times I make you guys come to my office.
That's the time.

Speaker 7 (01:45:24):
Yeah, this is left right up down.

Speaker 5 (01:45:26):
It's very simple. Now I'm shaking with the Miller light here.
Oh she is. It's a golf coming up here. But yeah,
jo wait is there anything better than this? The golf
course coming to life here at the Legends Yeah starts.

Speaker 7 (01:45:37):
See some carts out here, so you got.

Speaker 3 (01:45:40):
One right here? Tenn's Club is already going eighteenth Green.

Speaker 5 (01:45:43):
Coryzadona's huge tupup par there to get in the playoff
in the two thousand and eight state finals. Then he
goes to ten Stripes a driver. Unfortunately, Chaser Right hit
his second shot in the water. Cory's Adonis right in
the middle of the green tupup birdie Cathedral team and
individual state champs. I love that, man. It was like
you were It's like it's burned into your memory. Heard
oh man, But I did forget my golf shoes, like
I told you guys earlier in the show. So just

(01:46:05):
playing sneakers or what. Well, luckily again doctor David Plager,
Thank you to him. He delivered them to me and
I think on the second team maybe there.

Speaker 1 (01:46:11):
But so in the meantime, was your butt like in
your shoes literally or your.

Speaker 5 (01:46:16):
I just I didn't even hit me on the first
tea And what's his name, Ryan whatever from Indiana Golf Association,
I forget his name. He looked at me, He's like, Kevin,
are you really wearing those? And I'm like, oh, my gosh, boy, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:46:29):
You wor h franc carried FRANSCISCN Health the triple threat
in the fight against cancer, combining advanced research, compassionate care,
specialized teams for every single patient.

Speaker 6 (01:46:40):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:46:40):
And of course they offer multidisciplinary programs for breast, lung,
prostate melanoma, and a whole lot more tailored to every
patient's individual needs.

Speaker 5 (01:46:48):
Will tell you more about that with a triple threat
down there right there.

Speaker 4 (01:46:54):
Yeah, he's doing it.

Speaker 7 (01:46:55):
Locking that up, please, I'm locking that up.

Speaker 5 (01:46:58):
He looks like Doug is trying to get him some
more playing time there at northechel, is this a Notre
Dame hat that's getting it's getting delivered right now. Look this, well,
this is why you liked Miller light and listener Brandt
with a huge look at this hat. Oh my gosh,

(01:47:18):
that's beautiful. Thank you, sir. Notre Dame club.

Speaker 3 (01:47:21):
And he's got his Notre Dame polo on too, to go.
He's good to go, all right. Kevin's gonna have a
completely different wardrobe coming up in a minute. And we
will continue next from Legends Golf Club, tell you more
about Franciscan health.

Speaker 4 (01:47:34):
Next, James getting his.

Speaker 3 (01:47:37):
Groove on, Kevin literally taking the shirt and hats off
people's back as they arrived to play golf today.

Speaker 5 (01:47:42):
Fourth quarter of Camp Randall.

Speaker 7 (01:47:44):
Right with this man, I hear that song. College football
is just great.

Speaker 5 (01:47:51):
We got a Wisconsin guy that's trying to make a
mark for the Colts this year too well, John Taylor
being the poster child, all right, but he's already the
state pablished. Hunder Wohler is indeed doing that leading tackle
for Wisconci each the last two years. James and I
were talking during the break a little bit earlier. Jeff,
I think you were off doing more important things. But
we have three top ten matchups in Week one college football,

(01:48:13):
except first time ever we've had three of them, and
I think we got Yes Clemson LSU and then Notre
Dame Miami and that Oh my, here's my other Miller lights.

Speaker 4 (01:48:24):
Oh you got another Miller light.

Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
Chris is back right right in front of the doctor
fronts this is yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:48:32):
Yeah, I'm gonna give like my chair for the doctor
because Lord knows, she's gonna look at She's gonna look
at me with the Mill hand. Did we hook her
up with the Miller line or she's got to do
patience today? Ye, I'm gonna she's got to go out
on the lamb and says she has far more important
things to do.

Speaker 3 (01:48:48):
We're talking to Emily Keller obviously dermatologists doctor with Franciscan
and also familiar with some other folks I'm guessing about
skin cancer and how to protect yourself. You've got the
great protective that you came over here with. Now, most
people wear a ball cap out there, right, do that?
I usually do like a thirty and a ball cap.

Speaker 4 (01:49:06):
Is that enough?

Speaker 11 (01:49:07):
No?

Speaker 5 (01:49:08):
No, but thank you for us saying the ball cap
only not protect their forehead. But I do love the thirty.

Speaker 10 (01:49:15):
But I would love a wide brimmed hat because you've
got to protect those ears and the rest of the face.

Speaker 3 (01:49:19):
I've also heard that there's really no once you get
to thirty. Is there any point in having a sixty?
You're a pretty protected at that point, right.

Speaker 10 (01:49:26):
Once you get to fifty, you're pretty good at fifty five?

Speaker 4 (01:49:29):
Oh, you're looking for a five zero.

Speaker 5 (01:49:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:49:30):
In the summer, I love a fifty. In the winter,
I'd say a thirty is totally fine.

Speaker 5 (01:49:35):
All right, So what are you worried about for people
out here today?

Speaker 10 (01:49:37):
That Well, A big thing about here is reapplying.

Speaker 5 (01:49:40):
Because you're playing all day.

Speaker 10 (01:49:41):
You know, after a couple hours it's melted off of you,
so you got to pull out the sunscreen from your bag,
put it on and keep putting.

Speaker 5 (01:49:48):
It's really important, right, Yes, because I worry about myself.
I was.

Speaker 3 (01:49:53):
I used to race bikes and I still ride bikes
a lot, and i've I'm hit or missed sometimes on protection,
especially when you've been out there for two or three hours, sweat.

Speaker 5 (01:50:00):
It all off and stuff like that. I think about it.

Speaker 4 (01:50:02):
No, and now it's probably way too late for me,
So it's gonna.

Speaker 10 (01:50:05):
Be what this is, right, Everything is helpful, But I mean,
if you can get this on every few hours, just
the amount of pre cancers and skin cancers we treat
in the future is going to be so much less.

Speaker 5 (01:50:17):
Does it help that I generally try to ride in
the evenings, like six thirty seven o'clock, when the sun's
really not so high in the sky.

Speaker 10 (01:50:23):
Yes, we tend to think between ten and two is
the highest amount of sun exposure.

Speaker 3 (01:50:27):
And so if you can do all those early morning
rides and evening rides, I've been okay, right.

Speaker 1 (01:50:31):
Exactly, most care good Emily along those lines. For those
who do have to be out in the sound, whether
it's for a golf or for work or whatever, what
will be like your to do list that we should
check off to make sure that we're as predicted as
we can be.

Speaker 10 (01:50:41):
Sunglasses, wide brimmed hat, long sleeve shirt, long sleeve pants,
or long pants because they have all of this cooling
clothing now that wicks away the moisture. It's embedded with SPF.
You can wash it multiple times. And you know, some
people don't like the feeling of sunblock. They're like, it's disgusting. Fine,

(01:51:02):
you can protect in many other ways, and this is one.

Speaker 4 (01:51:04):
Of those cancers. You really can protect yourself to a
great extent, right, Yes, I.

Speaker 10 (01:51:09):
Mean these are ninety nine percent due to sun exposure,
so it is all our behaviors. So we can do
easy things that make a huge difference.

Speaker 5 (01:51:17):
I'm such a slacker. I'm not going to start now.
You can look like you're twenty for the rest of
your life.

Speaker 3 (01:51:22):
That day may that day may have passed at ship sale.

Speaker 5 (01:51:25):
Yeah, frets that may anything else we need to know.

Speaker 3 (01:51:28):
Thanks, by the way, thanks for you and all your
friends at Franciscan for helping us out on this, because
it's really important that people be aware of all.

Speaker 4 (01:51:36):
The things they can do to get ahead of the game.

Speaker 10 (01:51:38):
Right, Yes, and I know it sounds scary getting a
skin check, but it's pretty darn easy and we're nice,
so we make it fun because.

Speaker 4 (01:51:44):
A lot of people won't go because they're just afraid
what they might doubt.

Speaker 10 (01:51:47):
Right exactly, and so much of this is very, very
easily curable.

Speaker 3 (01:51:52):
Well, I know you've got patience to see today, so
we're not going to keep you too long. Thanks for
stopping by and modeling the perfect behavior with the big
flop be sun hat too. We do all right, thanks
so much. She has the glowing skin to do you
notice that, man, if you're a grimatologist, you have to
be at the glowing skin, right.

Speaker 7 (01:52:08):
It tells her a din is it got the perfect even.

Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
I know, man, it's all good. Thanks for stopping by,
Doctor Emily Keller. Part of the huge effort by Franciscan
to make sure people stay healthy before you know, you
start to get sick or you have symptoms, and if
you do get sick then they've got great programs to
help you through all that as well.

Speaker 4 (01:52:26):
Find out more Franciscan Health.

Speaker 3 (01:52:28):
The cancer care focus is a big deal for them,
and again all day long for those who came out today,
free cancer screenings on the course today brought to you
by the Franciscan Health Cancer Center. Look up Franciscan Health
Cancer and you will find out all kinds of ways
to take care of yourself, because it really is. It's
something you can get ahead of and stay ahead of.

Speaker 4 (01:52:45):
James, absolutely the way you gotta do it.

Speaker 11 (01:52:47):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:52:47):
I'm on my dad all the time about that type
of stuff, jokes aside, and I'm like, look, man, I
know we joke about having melanin. Yea, brother, you better
put some sunscreen on so you can have some healthy
skin later on. Yeah, Bucket all right, James, And I yeah,
I forgot to bring it today, but I am team
Bucket hat most days and it's a good thing.

Speaker 3 (01:53:06):
My man Carlton brought a hat for me today from
Ducks because I forgot my hat.

Speaker 5 (01:53:10):
It's on the kitchen counter at home. It's the one
thing I did not grab this. Now, I was just
talking with some other guests here at the golf out
and now did she mention anything if you crack a
second beer that helps your skin cover.

Speaker 3 (01:53:20):
I think she specifically said two or three before ten
oh one will help you.

Speaker 5 (01:53:24):
Dramatically ol Jeff Ricker A little slightly different jeffricka than
I heard about an hour agoy. I just wanted to
make sure we were good with the folks up above.

Speaker 7 (01:53:31):
Man, it's way by the pole.

Speaker 4 (01:53:32):
See here's the problem.

Speaker 5 (01:53:34):
When you have I just want to make sure my
bosses are happy.

Speaker 3 (01:53:36):
That's all I want to do in life. I want
to make sure my bosses are happy. It's just like, uh,
it's just like office spaces. To make sure everybody's happy.

Speaker 8 (01:53:44):
Sounds like they're cool with it. So Jeff, let it
rip yourself. I think you cracked one open too.

Speaker 7 (01:53:49):
Oh he has, he does, he has, he has, he
has one right next to him.

Speaker 5 (01:53:53):
Point of order. I did not wait for permission over
is this for James? No? No, okay, I did not
ask for permission to Carb Day?

Speaker 12 (01:54:01):
Did I?

Speaker 5 (01:54:01):
I just did? Yeah, you did. And if I remember correctly,
that was that was a large chug at carb Day
fro him.

Speaker 3 (01:54:06):
That's the way it goes. We've got Colts in football tonight.
Three games on the schedule this evening. Of course, we're
just paying attention to the Colts and the Ravens. And again,
we know football preseason football can be vanilla. But we
just want to see Anthony Richards I think the biggest
thing now is we want to see him be accurate, right,
and then move the sticks.

Speaker 5 (01:54:24):
Yeah, I mean I said be boring earlier, sustain drives.
You know, again, when we had Nate Atkinson earlier in
the nine o'clock hour, Nate brought up the deep ball,
and I get where he's coming from, James, because we
probably haven't seen as abundance of it from Richardson as
we were used to. And again Nate points out how
much of that his shoulder related. But honestly, if Anthony
Richardson has a night of dink and dunking and goes

(01:54:47):
nine of twelve and we're talking about it tomorrow on air,
I'm gonna be like, all right, that is another step
in the right direction. Because there's a lot of steps
in the offseason this year. I mean, so far are
some of the biggest cons you would have have been better.
But again, tonight, that jersey color's not red anymore. So,

(01:55:08):
so that's the question I have. When it's not red
and you can get hit, do you revert back to
your old self? Because that's the thing we all do.
You know, everybody does that out here on the golf course.
Your driving range swings much different than when he gets
real out here. It gets real out here and you
put a bunker and you put some water, and all
of a sudden, you you revert back to I'm the
king of that, to old habits. So yeah, you know,

(01:55:30):
is Anthony Ergson revert back to old habits tonight?

Speaker 1 (01:55:32):
Well, my viewing pleasure, I do want to see a
couple of long passes, Kevin So all.

Speaker 5 (01:55:39):
That James James preseason Fantasy football tea, Yeah, I.

Speaker 7 (01:55:42):
Want to see a long pass or two. I mean,
he's getting some reps in there.

Speaker 1 (01:55:45):
I don't want to, you know, cage the man too much,
but I actually think that the longer passes would benefit
Daniel Jones a lot more than Anthony Richardson because he
has been very gun side throughout training camp. And I
know he pushed back on that notion when Jake Arthur
asks him about it last week. But the bottom line
is we haven't seen him do it very often. I
want to say, the one time he's defensive on the
ball down the field very far in a team period

(01:56:07):
was when he jumped off when he had a guy
jump off sides in that night practice. Kevin, So, I
know we can move on to more not pressing things,
but different things. I know we have some folks in
the Horizon League hanging around ready to come on the air,
but so want they slip that in there about the quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (01:56:21):
Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing that tonight. And I
do think, as you pointed out earlier in the show, Kevin,
the kicking. I just you all in today's National Football League,
your kicking game can win and lose you a couple
of games every year. And the Colts start this camp
with two guys that we don't have any idea what
they're capable of doing when the regular season truly comes around.

Speaker 5 (01:56:43):
And James percentage wise, Spencer Schrader, who is thought to
be the favorite, is probably what eighty ish eighty five?
Now the misses correct if I'm wrong, I think they've
all been north of fifty right, So again this gets
back into like right now, ten day sample size of
training camp at a joint practice, it's been Matt gay

(01:57:04):
from last season. I mean that's exact, I mean pretty much,
it's exactly what it's been.

Speaker 7 (01:57:07):
So Matt Gaye did not miss instid of fifty less.

Speaker 5 (01:57:09):
Correct, So again, are you content with that and you know,
for Schrader, who is a very uniquely wired individual. I mean,
you would talk about uber positive and he probably wouldn't
like me drinking his Miller Lite frankly at nine thirty
nine in the morning. But he is one that they
love his mental makeup, they love how he's wired, and
they love the big leg and they think that, you know,

(01:57:30):
can create the ideal kind of NFL kicker, created player,
if you will. But he's only kicked in five NFL games,
So what does that look like late in games? It
doesn't mean he won't be good. We just don't know, no, no,
I mean, and you know, the unique thing about the
kicking competition really both competitions quarterback and kicker. The Colts
have very unique competitions within those rooms. Quarterback, the competition

(01:57:54):
is not veteran versus rookie or veteran versus young guy.
It's two former top ten picks, yeah, that are trying
to resurrect whatever careers they've had. And then a kicker. Again,
it's not veteran versus young guy, it's two undrafted free
agents from me to the last two years. Well, by
the way, this Charlie Plager right here.

Speaker 3 (01:58:14):
Yeah, Charlie's getting ready, He's doing He's doing the golf
stretch right now too.

Speaker 5 (01:58:18):
He is he needs a stretch horse on the first
tea here. Charlie Plaker has had some unbelievable moments on
this golf course. His brother is a state champion. He
is also a state champion. This man is the ringer
of the golf outing right, nice, what are we looking
at it now?

Speaker 7 (01:58:30):
I have a question?

Speaker 4 (01:58:31):
Does that mean we're looking at like a fifty seven.

Speaker 5 (01:58:33):
To win Arlott group here, the one B group, gar
Lock group here, they're gonna be the twenties smart putting
him one B because he's not gonna be happy about that. Man,
I'm in a B group. I want to be in
an eight.

Speaker 1 (01:58:43):
There's always one ringer group that shoots like twenty three
under par is. That is that both of you guys
got state championships. Who gets bragging rights? You and your
brother who won it first?

Speaker 6 (01:58:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:58:55):
He did, okay, well, but you proved that you you're
right there.

Speaker 4 (01:58:58):
You lived up to it.

Speaker 5 (01:58:59):
Charlie was passing out gatorades to his brother basades. Wow,
you know Mondo's were the after party? All right? Toallay Mark,
you said you got a cooler formulator today. Did I
hear you correctly?

Speaker 8 (01:59:10):
You heard me correctly?

Speaker 3 (01:59:12):
Oh boy, he's trying to get back in good grace.
A man, am I I can't you know? People are
happy when they see the beverage cart. They're like, oh,
there's the beverage cart. Look at the beverage car.

Speaker 5 (01:59:21):
Girl. I can't wait till I see Mark Dyton.

Speaker 4 (01:59:23):
Are you gonna be the best? Mark? Is gonna be
the beverage cart guy?

Speaker 6 (01:59:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (01:59:26):
Today, I'm gonna grab a cart and get out there
like I have. I must deliver these to the Kevin
and be like I'm I'm delivering a kidney.

Speaker 4 (01:59:33):
Something like that. All right, quick time out. We're gonna
finish up strong.

Speaker 3 (01:59:36):
We're getting ready for the golf tournament to tee off
with our friends at Francisco out here. We'll check in
with the Horizon League next. As we continue at ninety
three five and one oh seven five the fans, it
is a picture perfect day out a legend's golf course
here on the southern tip of the Indianapolis metro area.

Speaker 4 (01:59:53):
Terrific twenty seven Cole setup.

Speaker 3 (01:59:56):
We've got the shotgun start ready to go at about
forty five minutes from now. We've teamed up with our
fine friends at Franciscan and they just help you out
so in so many ways to keep you healthy. You know,
cancer is complicated. Fransicsan Health offers second opinions to help
patients understand what their options are going to be, choose
the right treatment path. More importantly, they want to stop

(02:00:17):
you from getting cancer before that happens, so all kinds
of prevention measures you can take. We talked to a
dermatologist a little while ago. Go to Franciscan at the
website and check all the ways that you can take
care of yourself.

Speaker 4 (02:00:28):
But one of the things we do here at the
Fans we do sports. We talk sports.

Speaker 3 (02:00:32):
We love sports at every level and every way and
every form. We've partnered in the last several years with
the Horizon League. We're happy to do that again this year.
And now this is a special treat for me, James,
because I like talking about I came from a smaller
conference playing football myself, so I like these kinds of things.
But man Drew Namovich joins us from the Horizon League

(02:00:54):
today and his father, Jim, who's from the Great Lakes
Valley Conference, right.

Speaker 5 (02:00:58):
Yeah, thanks for having us. Yeah, James, thanks appreciate you
guys being here.

Speaker 4 (02:01:02):
Now, here's one thing that you can both answer.

Speaker 3 (02:01:05):
So much going on in the NCUBA these days and
even the NCAA, you know, talk about Division I football
if you want to call it, the FBAs whatever. They
don't even know what the rules are anymore. How does
that make it easy for you guys? When the big boys,
you know, the big tens in the secs, they're making
it up as they go along.

Speaker 4 (02:01:23):
How does that affect you every day?

Speaker 5 (02:01:25):
Dree? Yeah, it all has kind of a trickle down effect.
At the end of the day.

Speaker 13 (02:01:28):
What we try to focus on is providing the best
student athlete experience. For our nineteen championships are nearly four
thousand student athletes. So yeah, there's a lot going on
at the national stage, the national office. A lot of
that is focused on football with being a non football conference,
and some of that doesn't impact us as much, but
anything happening with the big boys for men's women's basketball,
it definitely has an impact on us. So thankfully we

(02:01:48):
have great leadership at the Horizon League with Julie ro
Lash and she stays engaged. She keeps all of us
up to date on what we need to do as
a staff to make sure that at the end of
the day, we're trying to give those opportunities to the
student athletes.

Speaker 5 (02:01:58):
And people are wondering how to father their son.

Speaker 3 (02:02:00):
Here right, Jim, here's a really big boy here your dad,
and your son is following in your footsteps there. But
I want to ask you, guys, because you are basketball centric,
how would that have an expanded field that they were
talking about for the NCUBAA tournament. How would that have
trickled down for you guys.

Speaker 5 (02:02:16):
So the GLBC, we're an NCAA Division two leagues.

Speaker 12 (02:02:20):
We've got fifteen member schools and four Midwest states, and
so that men's basketball tournament is extremely important to every
Division two and Division three conference in the country because
we get four point three percent of whatever that revenue
is from Turner. So that funds all the Division two
national championships, all the Division three national championships. We get

(02:02:42):
a pretty good chunk of change from the NCAA, but
it all generates from the basketball tournament. And Charlie's done
a great job as president because they've expanded with some
other sponsors for the nc DOUBLEA.

Speaker 5 (02:02:54):
So that's critical revenue for our school.

Speaker 3 (02:02:56):
So it sounds like more games if an expanded field
might mean more revenue for you.

Speaker 5 (02:03:01):
So we are champions of that next contract.

Speaker 12 (02:03:04):
I think it runs through thirty two, but I'm pretty
sure they're already starting to renegotiate. So yeah, if it's
an expanded field and the television rights fees go up,
then that's good.

Speaker 5 (02:03:13):
For everybody that plays under the NCAA umbrella.

Speaker 3 (02:03:16):
And Drew, a couple of your teams have been in
the spotlight the last couple of years in the NCAA tournament.
What does that mean for trickle down for the Horizon
When one of your teams, like Oakland a couple of
years ago, that everybody was falling in love with and
makes an extra appearance, how does that work out for
you guys?

Speaker 13 (02:03:31):
Yeah, it's incredible the exposure that that university, that athletic
department in the Horizon League gets from Oakland knocking off
Kentucky two years ago. Even just this last year, RMU
took Alabama down to the wire and nearly had them,
So just the exposure for the university itself. Oakland did
a big study after they knocked off Kentucky just about
the media value of what that exposure was because it
was a CBS seven thirty seven thirty game. Just the

(02:03:53):
amount of viewership, how much exposure they got. Is this
media value that they could never purchase themselves.

Speaker 5 (02:03:59):
So it's awesome.

Speaker 13 (02:04:00):
Yes, the media are the tournament units that come with
a win to the league office. That's distributed to our membership.
Is also great because anytime we can get more money,
everyone's looking for that these days. But yeah, just the recognition,
the brand recognition for those universities in the league is
something that we cannot purchase.

Speaker 7 (02:04:15):
Jim to pivot to the GOLVC for a second.

Speaker 1 (02:04:18):
I've covered high school sports and did it for quite
a while here in northwest Indiana, and all the kids
say they want to go to Division one. I want
to go to Division one, but there's some great Division
two programs out there. So what are you selling or
trying to let them know about the programs you offer?
And I honestly think it's great athletics and honestly, if
you can play as long as you can, I think
you should. So what do you kind of pitch you know,
a seventeen year old when they're trying to figure out

(02:04:39):
what's next for them.

Speaker 5 (02:04:40):
Yeah, so James, I think that's a great question.

Speaker 12 (02:04:43):
At the Division two level, at least within the GLVC,
we're not seeing a whole lot of traction with NIL.
If student athletes are getting anything, it's something they're generating
through their own social media posts. So it really is
the traditional model of intercollegiate athletics. The vast majority of
our student athletes are on Skylar ships. Most of the
full rides are in men's women's basketball, so football and

(02:05:03):
everybody else is on partial rides. But there's still very
much an academic component to that experience. But there's also time.
They have time as student athletes to train and to
compete at a very high level, but they can also
be involved and get internships. There's other opportunities that will
enhance that academic experience. But we try to sell the
entire balance of it all that it's you're not a professional,

(02:05:26):
and the reality is there are the things in their careers,
whether it's professional or you know, the military or whatever
industry they decide to pursue.

Speaker 5 (02:05:35):
But we really try to sell access.

Speaker 12 (02:05:38):
To NCAA Division two championships because if you can compete
in the GLVC in volleyball, in men's soccer, in baseball,
in football, you've got a great shot of having a
postseason experience for a Division two national championship.

Speaker 5 (02:05:51):
Great stuff. As an old Anya guy myself, what did
you play?

Speaker 3 (02:05:55):
Mesa College which is now Division two school Colorado Maca University?
And to your the experience, unbelievable. Obviously, I wasn't gonna
play in the NFL. I wasn't gonna, you know, play
at a major college. But just the experience and to
be able to keep playing, as James said, unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (02:06:09):
Thanks for stopping by, guys hitting straight today, all right.

Speaker 3 (02:06:12):
Du Namovich from Horizon League, Jim Namovich from Great Lakes,
love it man, Thanks for being here.

Speaker 4 (02:06:17):
We'll talk to you guys soon.

Speaker 3 (02:06:18):
Thanks for having us all right, and we are getting
ready to tee off here at Legends Golf Course.

Speaker 4 (02:06:23):
James, you gotta go swing a stick, man, You got.

Speaker 2 (02:06:24):
To do that.

Speaker 5 (02:06:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:06:25):
It's gonna be looking real rough all right out here,
like Charles Barkley, but hey, it is what it is,
all right.

Speaker 4 (02:06:30):
Colt's coverage starts at four
