we have such a great interview for all of you.
We have legendary actor Barry Corbyn. I am sure at
one point or another you have seen a movie or
a TV show that this gentleman has been in, because
he has been in so many so I'm really looking
forward to talking with him. So I'm gonna get right
into it. Here is the wonderful interview with Barry Corbyn.

Hello, Well, how aren't you today?

I am doing wonderful.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
How are you well, I'm just fine too. I'm I'm
sitting over it looked like about drain here.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Oh no, is it over here in Madonnah, Tennessee. It's
still a little bit sunny, and I'm really looking forward
to talking to you. And you know, I really want
to take me back a little bit because I love
finding out how my favorite actors get started. So when
did acting first come into your life? I believe it
was theater, right.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
It was, uh, yeah, my first up until I was
nearly forty, I did Uh, I did theater nice now
I was I was in New York. Uh, most of
that time based in New York, and uh, you know,
(02:31):
just worked in New York some mainly I'd work in
dinner theater, in regional theater and uh they did a
Broadway show and and several off Broadway shows, but mainly
I was out of town.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Gotcha, gotcha? And the rest is history, really, And You've
had such an incredible career across television and film. When
you look back, what role changed the game for you
that fans bring up the most to you?
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Would you say, Well, I would say my first studio
film was Urban Cowboy, right, yeah, And so that was
that kind of kicked me off pretty good. And then
before that came out, I'd already done uh played the
sheriff in Dallas, and uh I'd done uh stir crazy
(03:29):
with Richard Pryor and Jane Wilder, and uh I've done
any which your way you can with Clint Eastwood. So
all those came out about the same time.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yes, all my favorites. I know. People have also, of
course seen you on shows like Yellowstone the Ranch. I mean,
if people go on your IMDb, you would not believe
all of the shows that you and movies that you've
been a part of. You've been a part of so
so many you've.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Been You better you better have about an hour and
shut down and go through it if you want to
read all of.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
It right exactly. That's exactly what I'm saying. And you
know you appear in season one and season three. More recently,
of of course Tulsa King, which could be seen on
Paramount Plus. For those who have not seen Tulsa King,
can you share a little bit about the character that
you play.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Uh, Well, I played the father of the owner of
the bar that uh uh Stallan's character uh comes into
and uh I'm uh I was I was told that
I have dementia, and uh uh they they didn't write

a whole lot of stuff for me, So I just
had to end up being uh, you know and betting
a bunch of stuff for myself.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Right right in proving a little bit using those skills. Yes,
you gotta do it. Yeah, oh yes, Oh that's wonderful.
And of course, like I said, everyone could check it
out now on Paramount Plus, all the episodes are there.
And I want to ask you, are you currently filming
or has filming been complete for any upcoming projects that
we should keep our eyes and ears peeled for that

you could tell us about.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Well, there's there's a a new show, uh that's going
to be on and I think it's a couple of
a month or two. We're uh it's it's stars h
Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. Oh wow, And uh I
(05:34):
play a part in that. Uh so it's I'm kind
of a kind of an outlaw in it.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Fun that playing out law is exciting. I would like
to play those kind of roles.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yeah, yeah, it's fun.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Yes, I can't wait. Well, we're gonna keep keep a
lookout for all of that as well, because I'd love
to check out the show. So once that comes out,
we'll be promoting it as well. And I want to
ask you what has kept you passionate about acting all
of these years. How do you keep it new and
exciting and fresh.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Well, I try to mix it up. I try to,
you know, I try to find something that I haven't
done before. Sure, you know, I try to find uh
some uh some character that I can play a little
different from from the uh usual stuff, you know. So
(06:29):
it's uh, you know, it's I just, you know, I
just have fun working. I don't uh, I don't necessarily
watch the shows I do, but I enjoyed doing them.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Working with, like all the different people and actors that
you get to work with and actresses that you work
with keeps it fresh as well, you know, new new
faces and yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Oh yeah, yeah a lot. Like you know, I've got
some favorites that I like to work with, but uh
you know that. And also there's uh, there's an a
case you know, disappointment along the way. You know, I
might have some preconceived notion about somebody and I'm I'm wrong,
(07:09):
you know, but it's you know, usually it's it's always
you know, actors are really kind of kind of fun
people to be around. I don't uh hang around with
them when I'm not working, but I do enjoy working
with them.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
That keeps it exciting for sure. And you know, for
those aspiring, you know, to get started acting, what advice
would you give to those like young actors and actresses
not only about breaking into the industry but also building
long lasting careers like like you had.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Well, you know, you've got to keep it fresh for
yourself for sure. And uh and uh, you know, as
your age, you've got to you've got to uh adapt
to h to meet, to playing other other things. You know.
It's uh, I guess you have to reinvent yourself about
(08:04):
every five or ten years. Mm hm oh yeah, I
got it. Had to refresh it a little bit.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Yes, that's great advice. Absolutely, you got to keep it
moving for sure. I got to keep doing it. I
love that. And you know, fans now can get to
know you even better with your live events that you're
doing and evening with Barry Corbin. So for those interested
in coming out to experience this, what can they expect?
This is exciting?
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Well, I don't know what to expect.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
So it's always something. It's always something. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yeah, I don't rehearse it. I come out and start
telling stories. I start out pretty much the same way
all the time. Yeah, but then I just I just
tell stories and I see what's working with the particular audience,
and then I'll adapt it to that audience. And then
the first half I tell stories that goes maybe forty
(08:59):
five minutes, are sometimes up to an hour, but mainly
about forty five minutes. And then uh, we take a
little break, I guess, uh intermission, and uh then everybody
comes back and we open it up to questions from
the audience. We turned the house lights on, and I
(09:20):
I just we I have conversation with the audience.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
That's a lot of fun. So interactive. That's a lot
of fun for you, I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Oh yeah, yeah, that's that's my favorite part because a
lot of the lot of the questions are the same.
But then there's there's always somebody throws something at me
that I I didn't I didn't know, I didn't expect,
you know.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yes, the curveballs are fun for sure. Yeah, that sounds
like so much fun. June sixth is your next event
for this you're in Cleborn, Texas.

Right, Yeah, I think so. I think so. I don't
have a calendar in front of I'm not sure exactly,
but I know I think there's something coming up in June. Yes,

uh I was up in Pigeon Forge m h uh
kitch a couple of months, a month and a half,
two months ago, and uh I was, I was there,
and then I went to uh uh none Lap, Tennessee.

Oh yes, Dunlap. Yes, we've been there in Pigeon Forge.
We love it.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Yeah. Yeah, so we had a we had a nice
time there.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Oh yes, oh yes, next time you're in Tennessee, we're
gonna have to come out to see you, because I
want to see one of these evenings with Barry Corby,
because it just sounds like so much fun, you know,
getting the chance to really get to know you the person,
you know what I mean, and not just the actor.
And then also, of course I know you sprinkle in
a lot of the work that you do as well
when it comes to the acting side as well, So
it sounds like a blast.

Oh yeah, yeah, it's it's we have a good time.
I like to yeah, I like to say. My reason,
my reason for being on earth is to bring laughter
to people.

Oh when you do that, let me tell you that
right now, sir, you do that very very well. For sure.
I promise you that. My me, my husband, my my parents,
we we definitely adore you in our household. And you're
just you're just so you just seem like such a
fun person to be around.

You know, well, I try to be, you know, I'm
I'm I'm I'm kind of I'm kind of a loner
as far as in my in my personal life goes
when I'm home in my office most of the time.
And uh, my wife says she never sees me. Well,
she does see me because I come in, come in

for meals and sleep.

But exactly the essentials. That is so funny. I love it.
I love it. You keep busy, you really do that.
That's the funny part is you know, when you're not acting,
you also have to have that home home time. And
to me, you feel like the kind of guy that
you're always thinking about the next thing that you want

to do or something. You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
You just oh, yeah, yeah, I've been I've been working
on a book for ten years now. I still haven't
got it where I want it, but all oh things
keep patten in to me, you know, I keep adding
to it. I guess I'm gonna have to end up
maybe like Mark Twain's autobiography. You know, that thing came
(13:43):
out a few years ago. It's about about as thick
as as a Bible.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
You know exactly. Oh, I appreciate you, Thank you so much.
