How have you been saying? Same here? Can't complain. I'm
super blessed and just lick is good.

Yeah, same here. And I have to tell you I
love your new single Better by the Sea, and I'm
in full agreement. Everything is Better by the Sea. Can
you tell us a little bit about this song?
Speaker 5 (02:34):
So I've become friends with a guy named Greg White
over the years, and he's he's always going to the
beach or some sort of vacation and usually involves water.
And one day he just sent me this long list
of words on a text message and he's like, hey,
I jotted these thoughts down. I think, I think it
(02:56):
could be a song. And I read over it and
I was like, well, let's like a.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Poem, you know, And and he said, do you think
you could put some music to it?
Speaker 5 (03:04):
And I said, well, let me let me look at it.
And so then I saw that the bones were really good.
So I just said, Okay, I think we got something here.
I said, but let me let me take it to
let me take it to my friends.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
And let's see what we can do.
Speaker 5 (03:16):
And and uh, I sat down with mitro cell and
Jason Kennon, and that's what we come up with. And
I feel like, you know, it's just one of them
songs is you know, we're not trying to reinvent the wheel.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
It's just it's feel good.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
You know, the sun is shining, drinking your hand, sitting
by the water, and you know, just just makes you
feel good.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Yes, it's such a feel good song. And what's the
reaction been with fans so far? Have you been able
to perform this one live yet?
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I've done it a few times.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
We've we've been we've had a few shows since we
wrote it or since it come out, And and uh,
sing like the.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Fans were loving, and that's kind of how I set
it up.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
It was like, hey, you know, here's my new song,
and if it don't put you in a good mood
or don't know what will.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
And then we kick off into it and people people
dance along and when I hit that hook, they make
them smile.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
So that's my job is done.

Yes, that's amazing, I figured because this is just such
a fun song. And any thoughts on maybe like a
music video for this one, well.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
We always start thinking of cool marketing things. You know.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Videos are still still a good tool to get the
song in front of people that normally wouldn't see it,
but we got some other things going on with the song.
Is maybe a collaboration in the works, Not sure, So
I want to wait and see what happens with that
before we pull the trick on the video, because obviously
if I get a collaboration, then we would want that

artist to be in the video as well.

Yes, oh absolutely, that would be exciting. I hope that.
I hope that works out. And speaking of Better by
the Sea, do you have a favorite beach that you
like to visit yourself?
Speaker 5 (04:45):
Been able to visit some really really awesome spots and
were going to the Caribbean every every January. And I guess,
I guess one of our favorite beaches is Jos van Dyke,
which is a British version island where the Saggi dollary
is and and Ivans and so there's that's some cool,
I mean, but it's hard to say that there's one

of those beaches that's.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Way better than the other.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
And there's some really really nice beaches down there, but yeah,
so yeah, it's it's hard to pick one for sure.

I hear you. And I want to talk about this
because you recently had June second, you had the twelfth
annual Celebrity Cornhole Challenge, which raised a record thirty five
thousand this year for the Kenny Campbell Foundation, which is incredible.
I feel like every year it gets bigger and bigger.
So what does reaching that milestone mean to you personally?
Speaker 2 (05:32):
That's amazing, man.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
It's it's it's just a testament to just everybody that's
putting all the hard work in and yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
And uh and everybody in the.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Concept of having a corn hole tournament and raising money
at the same time.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
It's just it's just fun and people. People love to
be a part of it.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
And so this year was was and I say it
every year like we're getting it's getting bigger and.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
Better, and then just you know, this past year was
exactly that we we had.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Normally we only have sixteen celebrities. This year we had third, So.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
It was it was pretty awesome. And being able to
raise that amount of money was it was.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
It was pretty great.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
And I'm so thankful to have friends in the in
the country music world or just being outside of the
country music, just celebrities in general, and that that give
their time to be a part of it.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
And it was. It was a lot of fun and
we did good.

That's wonderful. And can you tell me a little bit
more about the Kenny Campbell Foundation for those out there
who may not be familiar with this foundation that you founded.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, So.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
For the past twelve years or so, I've been raising
money for co rectal cancer and.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
It wasn't until about two or three years.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
Ago that I decided to open up my own charity.
And I'm named it in honor of my dad. My
dad his name is Kenny, So we you know, he
was thirty six years old when he died with colon
cancer and so I just the more I learned about
coll rectal cancer, the more I realized that had he
had the information that I have now, there's a good

chance he might still be here because color rectal cancer
is super preventable.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
So that's been the goal.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
Of the message is just you know, go get screened
and get screened early. And that's so that's that's what
we were trying to get get out there.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
When I was just a baby, my grandfather died at
fifty seven from colon cancer and because he just didn't
have the information, like you said, So, I think it's
great to bring awareness to this, to get screened, and
absolutely I'm really glad that you put together the Kenny
Campbell Foundation because more people need to know a little
bit more about it, for sure, And people nowadays are
getting it so young, you know what I mean, in
(07:36):
their twenties thirties, It really doesn't matter. And it's for
men and women can get it as well.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Yeah, it's pretty crazy that, you know, somewhere over the
last ten or so years, and you know, being I
was the national spokesperson for an organization called Fight Coorectal Cancer,
and I mean all the high school students that I
met that had colorectal cancers. It's just it's insane how
young people are these days.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Yeah, it's so scary. It's it's insane. And if someone
wants to help her to donate, is that possible?
Speaker 3 (08:09):

Have you ever had any embarrassing on stage moments or
a moment that just was an on stage mishap that
you can recall because you've performed quite a bit. So
I'm sure you know something. Something can go awry.

So I'll say this, I'm knock on wood.

I've not ever fallen on stage, which is always just
one of my greatest fears. But I am notorious for
forgetting words. And I think people when I do forget
the words and.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
I start looking around at my band members trying to.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
See in fact they can help me out, I think
you can see the embarrassment on my face.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
But that's forgetting words is super common.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
I'm surprised, honestly, just from a fan aspect that are
you know, artists are able to remember so many different songs.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
It's not easy, you know what I mean to be,
Technology these days allow us to uh to.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
You know, you can put you can put a recording
in your ear to that will give you a cue
as to what the words are coming up.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
I haven't.

I haven't gotten to that point yet, but I do.
I do know a bunch of.

Artists that have lyric cues in their ears.

Interesting, well, that would probably be very very helpful, for sure,
I didn't know that. That's amazing, and I wanted to
ask you, has there been a moment in your career
that has even surprised you, like, you know, looking back,
you're like, wow, I actually actually did that.

Man, there's been a bunch and it's still a bunch
left that I haven't that are still on my bucket list.

But you know, playing the opera was a big deal
for the first time.

That was one of those Man, I've made it, and
then hearing myself on the radio for the first time
will always be a I mean, it's just a clear
memory of mine. And just getting my first gold record
without Skirts.

Of Heaven that was that was pretty special too.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Yes, Oh, You've had so many career highlights and I'm
really excited to see what is next for you musically.
Are you working maybe towards like maybe another album, because
I know your last album, Class of eighty nine, it
was a tribute album. It was in twenty twenty four.
We loved it. Anything maybe in the works or maybe
more singles.

Oh yeah, we're I'm loaded up.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Yeah, I counted them the other day.

We got nineteen songs in the can that.

Are on the burner and they we'll be.

I don't know if we're going to release them one
at a time or we're gonna put them out as
