Kentucky Derby and Oaks preps have been center stage, and with one exception this week, the spotlight will go on the older horses. Handicapper and author Rich Eng will join us from Las Vegas to give us his impressions of the major preps thus far. Rich has laser focus on the west coast scene, and we have two solid races to look at – the Gr. 1 $300,000 Beholder Mile that features the 2021 debut of champion Swiss Skydiver and the Gr. 3 San Simeon, an evenly matched group of older horses which includes the debut of Cistron, a 7-year-old horse who won this race last year and finished second in 2019. Oaklawn Park has a slew of stakes races on Saturday’s program including the weekends only Derby points race – the Gr. 2 $1,000,000 Rebel Stakes. Joining us will be Oaklawn’s on-air personality and handicapper Nancy Holthus. She will join John to discuss the Oaklawn meet thus far and the Rebel that features and interesting cast of competitors that include recent Smarty Jones 10-length winner Caddo; the lightly-raced, but undefeated Concert Tour and last season’s Kentucky Jockey Club victor Keepmeinmind. Nancy will also analyze the Gr. 2 $350,000 Azeri and the $500,000 Essex Handicap.

The Ron Burgundy Podcast

The Ron Burgundy Podcast

Will Ferrell reprises his role as Ron Burgundy in his brand new Ron Burgundy Podcast! Each episode has a different theme in which Ron engages in conversation with another notable person on the topic at hand. In true Ron Burgundy fashion, these conversations have a tendency to go off the rails, and we find out things about people we never knew we wanted to know. In season 2, Ron considers a run for President, continues to perform music, and blacks out at work. In Season 1, Ron addressed important issues like bullying and the mind-expanding nature of meditation, and attempted to ultimately answer the question “seriously, what is a podcast?”
