(00:25):
We heard from his representative Adam Byrdon the bathroom bill here in Ohio.
We got that information about the PublicHigh School League reunion, which is
a fifty five kr SE dot comand I am happy as always to see
Brian Ibold in studio. It's goodto see you, Brian. Welcome back
to talk about a really cool organization, the Help Squad, which you can
find online and I really strongly encourageyou to do that because we're gonna solicit

(00:45):
your help today help the Help Squadso they can go out and help people.
It's Helped Squad Sincy with a ydot com help Squad sincey dot com.
Brian Ibold always great seeing you brother, Yeah, thank you for giving
us an avenue here to give theword out always squat you guys. It's
a great organization and they focus onof course, you know my area of
town growing up, you got ColeRing Green dal High Township, Shivy at

(01:07):
Cleaves and Addiston where. Yes,like every area of the Greater Cincinnati area
and across this country, there arepeople out there in really really significant need,
most notably a lot of women, you know, failed relationships, they
got to get out of dodge. You have an abuse of husband, they
are on the lamb, they've gotbills, they have no place to live.
You can go on and on andon and so Brian and his wife

(01:29):
and others you know, had thisinspiration religious inspired it was, and that's
great help Squad. It's a fiveo' one c three corporate Christian nonprofit organization.
Their mission to share hope, compassionand grace through faith and community collaborative.
They assist families and crisis with shortterm financial support and wrap around services
for food, clothing, and shelter, as well as new paths for life

(01:49):
development and strategies. Brian, youknow, it's just such a neat thing.
To see you do this, andhow is it that you decided in
your life and what direction did yougo down? And you're like, you
know what, I got time,I got ability. I'm going to help
other people. I'm going to dedicatemy time to a Christian charitable mission.
Well, I'll agree with you.I definitely had the time. The ability

(02:10):
that's kind of up in the air. So at this points, I'm trying,
brother, believe me. I'm trying. So you know, I'm a
retired police when I had twenty eightyears on in law enforcement, and a
lot of the times that I wasin a uniform position, I would respond
to radio runs where it's a domesticdispute, domestic violence, some you know,
husband and wife arguing, brother andsister, however it is, and

(02:35):
when you separated them and you spoketo them, ninety nine percent of the
time they're arguing over some sort offinancial disruption in their family. You know,
dad loses his job, Mom didn'tpay the card payment last month.
They're going to get it repossessed,or they're late on their rent, they're
going to get evicted. And thosetypes of problems really cause a lot of
grief in families. And then youadd alcohol to it and just a bad

(02:58):
scene all the way around. SoI would show up in these houses.
I'm thinking, there has to bean organization that will pay to have your
car not repossessed. There just hasto be that it's only a couple hundred
dollars for these, you know, for a car payment. But there wasn't
There wasn't anything there. You canget food, clothing, shelter, you
know, the basics, but therewas nothing like this. So when I

(03:19):
retired in twenty twenty, I said, we're going to create this and with
the help of myself and my wife, like you mentioned, we have some
really great people. Sam Jasper, she is a unicorn when it comes to
helping people. Nobody can compete withher. And we just all got together,
we merged, and we've been doinga lot of good work ever since

(03:40):
on the West side of town.Well, and let's talk about some of
the work by way of illustration.I know you got some just absolutely heartbreaking
but yet at the same time heartwarmingstories because of the help that the Help
Squad provided. My listeners. Isan illustration or two about some of the
success you've had out there. Yeah, I'd be more than happy So just
last week, we had a ladyfrom West Africas. Now, she did

(04:00):
it right. I'm not trying toget political here, but she did it
right. She's a US citizen andshe lives in an apartment with her three
children, single mom, and herdying mother, and she was behind on
rent from a few things that hadpopped up, and they were going to
evict this woman and her mother, her sick mother and her three kids,
and she needed about I think itwas twelve hundred bucks for her rent where

(04:25):
they're on the street. So wecame through and invested twelve hundred dollars.
Now that's not a lot of money, Brian, twelve hundred dollars to save
a family? Are you kidding me? How? How is there not thousands
and thousands of people behind us,you know, supporting us and rallying behind
us with this. But that's thethings we do, you know, And

(04:46):
that's that was even more, youknow, a little bit higher than what
we normally do. You save afamily for four, five, six,
seven hundred dollars. Right in thepast, you've mentioned just a little cash
infusion like five hundred do I thinkI remember the story where you gave you
had this opportunity to give some ofthis woman five hundred dollars and that really
was able to turn her life around. Five hundred dollars Brian King, Floyd

(05:06):
Lyne for want of the price oftea and a slice, the old man
died. It's like, for oneof five hundred dollars in this this person's
lifetime, you know, things couldeither go really great or they could be
tragic exactly. You know, we'veand you know, just a couple of
days ago, I helped a veteran, uh from the Iraqi Bay. He

(05:29):
a veteran who they just didn't havefood. He had been hurt and they
didn't have food, and their electricwas going off. And I always thought
that they will not turn electric offor gas electric or heat and stuff like
in the winter if you have kidsin this Yeah, but uh yeah,
they will after a while. Theycertainly will. Yeah, and you've got
a pretty long run out time. But if you just let it go,
it's going to get turned off atcertainly. And uh so we paid that

(05:51):
and the guy end up getting ajob and everything's fine. We invested I
think six hundred bucks in him andhis family, you know, but we
can't continue to invest, you know, even five six, one thousand and
two thousand, whatever it is,without people getting behind us and rallying with
us and supporting us. Well, let's call to action that I'm going to
issue this morning again the help theHelp Squad. Sincey with why the Help

(06:14):
squadsinsey dot com. It's easy todonate this blink right at there at the
top to do it. I alsosuspect that you wouldn't mind volunteer help with
your mission. We certainly can usevolunteer help. You know. We always
will accept monetary donations. We willaccept even donations items that we can auction
off or we can do bidden byservices. You know, if you cut

(06:38):
hair, if you cut grass,if any type of service that you provide,
we can use that as well. There's just many ways of volunteering.
And it's just not money. AndBrian, this isn't even just about the
help Squad. You know, youcan't just sit on your couch and do
nothing with your life. You've gotto get out there because I find it
very hard that you can't have compassionwithout action. And I see a lot

(07:00):
of people saying, oh, youknow, just look at that poor guy
on the side of the on thecorner there asking for money. That poor
homeless guy, somebody should do somethingabout that. Or Hey, did you
hear about the lady who lost herjob. She has two kids and they're
getting evicted from their apartment. Somebodyshould do something about that. Well,
guess what, Yeah, We're doingsomething about it. People need some serious
help. Yeah. And you knowit's interesting because I'm one who regularly like

(07:24):
in the context. And again,I don't want to get political in this.
We're talking about charity here, butit provides a great springboard during the
run up to the passage of Obamacare. And I guess even during Hillary Care,
you had men in well clergy people, women or men in front of
churches advocating for a government program becauseit was going to help folks on life

(07:44):
margins get healthcare. And I'm thinkingto myself, you're abdicating the Christian mission.
The Christian mission is for the individualin the room there to do that
themselves, to give of their owntime and of their own money to help
people on life smart that helps you. The individual who does that, giving
the charity and participating in the charityis uplifting for the person doing this exactly.

(08:07):
Christ came here to serve, notto be served. I'm sure we've
all heard it's better to give thanto receive. Yeah, they just didn't
say that for no reason. Itreally is true. It is incredibly rewarding
when you can help these people. And the thing is we don't get paid.
We're all volunteers. If anything, this costs me thousands of dollars a

(08:28):
year to run this well, ofcourse out of your own pocket, but
also time has a value of moneyas well, and clearly you have committed
an unbelievable amount of time to thischarity. Again, the Help Squad Sinsey
dot com, Joe put a linkat at youbot krecy dot com. We're
gonna pausor and it will bring BrianIbol back to talk a little bit more
about the success their mission has andother ways we can help out. But

(08:48):
we're also going to get go downa little cul de sac because I know
Jim Keefer Westside. Jim wants youto talk about the sitcom that you are
doing, which we'll be able tocheck out real soon. Here more with
Brian Iba from the Help Squad.First, I want to mention Colin Electric.
Colin Andrew Colin is his team ofelectricians there to help you with your
residential electric needs. Been around fortwenty five years, and you know real

(09:09):
true. From the bottom of myheart, congratulations Andrew, you've run such
a successful business for twenty five years, and I appreciate your helping out my
listeners. I appreciate you helping outme and my mom electric projects. It's
what it's all about. Big,one, small, and everything in between.
Rewire your entire home, get ridof the old aluminum or nob and
twomb, get one outlet installed, everything in between. They'll do a great
job. They'll be on time, they'll be professional. They are professionals,

(09:33):
license electricians they are, and youget a ten year wiring warranty on everything
that they do. What's more,A plus with a better business bureau,
certainly a plus from me. Sothank you Andrew Collin for all the great
work you've done for my family andmy mom and my listeners. And you
can call them with confidence. Irecommend you do it for all your residential
electric needs. Five one three twotwo seven four one one two five one

(11:00):
give some great plans over the weekend. I'm in studio with Brian Eyebold of
the Help Squad again online vhelp Squadsince you with y dot com help them
out a volunteer Listen. I havesome money in my pocket. I just
gave it to Brian. Yeah,it wasn't that difficult to do to hand
him over some money out of mypocket. It makes it so easy going
to the website to do that. This is some beautiful work that they're doing.

(11:22):
You imagine just a small financial contributionto one of these folks living on
life's margins, and the statistics areon his website. You got a pretty
substantial poverty weight. You have avery low percentage of folks with a higher
level education. For the area thathe's serving, fifty three percent are on
food assistance, are economically disadvantaged inthe areas of Brian and the team at
the Help Squad are serving. Again. That's Cole Rain Green del High Shivi

(11:43):
at Cleaves and Addison. So hugeneed out there and simple solutions for very
complex problems. Help pay the rent, help get rid of that energy build
that's hanging over their head, helpingturn their lives around. You also do
referrals don't you, Brian. Uh, yeah, we have some wrap around
services. So once we give afinancial infusion to a family, we can

(12:05):
also offer them wrap around services thatconnect them with different organizations or agencies that
will further assist them down the roadso they don't and back in the same
situation. We mentioned that last storythat you got the guy got a job.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, so problems just exactly. It
was just that temporary time, youknow, that a month or so that

(12:28):
they needed help, and then wewe invested in them, we paid it,
and they're they're fine. Again,if that wouldn't happen, they wouldn't
have it electric, they wouldn't haveany heat and air condition and and chances
are their house was going to goup for uh you know, to auction.
Yes, so there's a lot ofthings, but it was a small
financial investment in this family and they'redoing very well. And then we do
that all the time. These peopleare worth the money. Yeah, the

(12:54):
problem is we just we don't havea ton of money. But obviously,
and we're only as good as moneywe have in the bank. And that's
why we're doing all these things. That's why I'm on the radio that's why
we have fundraisers. And speaking offundraisers, if I can real quick,
yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, well yeah you got you got
a big event coming up on Sunday. Yes, we have a huge event
coming up at Crimer's Beer House.Oh yeah, it's a staple on the

(13:16):
West Sie. It is. Indeed, they've got a huge river bar outside.
It's gonna beautiful weather. We haveone of the best bands in town,
lunch Box, They're coming to play. We've got fun raffle bats.
It's all kinds of stuff that aregood volunteers. Carrie Indris has taken so

(13:37):
much time of their time, uhto do this and get this organized.
We're very excited and there is reallyLook, it's sun, it's music,
it's fun, and you're helping people. What is not to like? Come
on out and one to five oneto five pm Crimer's Beer House this Sunday.
We're gonna have a good time.Now. Do you have a link
to that information on your help Squadwebsite? Finally chance, If it's not

(13:58):
on the webs I just certainly ison our Facebook page, the help Squad
Facebook the help Squad, and goahead and like them there as well.
And you know, as you andI were talking off air, trying to
get people to donate money, that'sone thing. But if you're not able
to donate money, and I'm thinkingof folks who may be struggling on their
own with maybe some depression obviously withthe news of the world that's enough to

(14:20):
depress me, are considering what Ido. But you know, if you
get engaged and are working with folksthat you work with Brian, who need
this type of assistance, I thinknot only might you feel better about your
own personal circumstance, but also you'regoing to get that feeling that only charitable
help can give you. It's uplifting. You're truly helping somebody on life margins.

(14:41):
You're gonna go home feeling a wholelot better about your situation and probably
meet some great people at the sametime. Oh No, it's incredibly rewarding.
And here's the thing. If you'rea listener out there, the problem
is we just have a segment ofsociety that can help that just chooses not
to. And this is a wayto do it. It's easy. And

(15:03):
here's the thing. Even if youdon't want to help people, just being
in this type of field. Youfeel better yourself. Yes, you know
what I mean. Helping people there, there's nothing better than that, that's
our calling, nothing better than That'sexactly right. And then again, going
back to your foundation in Christian philosophy, therein lies the reality it's good for

(15:24):
you to be good to other people. Amen's got to come from you personally,
not through some large government program. And here we have no government involvement,
just good people helping those on life'smargins. Reassure my listeners before we
get to the sitcom. Reassure mylisteners the vetting process. Someone just doesn't
walk up and say I need fivehundred dollars and you hand it over to

(15:45):
them. Now you you find outwhat the situation is. Oh sure.
So we have an intake packet thatyou can that you will be You'll have
to fill out. It's on thewebsite. We make it very convenient,
and then once we receive your intakepacket, we review that. And I'll
be honest with you, not everybodycan we can help. There's some people

(16:06):
that are there things are just sofar gone we can't help. But there's
others too that seem to be kindof just trying to scam the system type
thing. So not everybody will getthe help, but the true legitimate people
that need our help, and wehave the money in the bank, we
will help them. And I'm justreal quick. The lady who I was
talking about earlier from West Africa,do you notice that she had called fifteen

(16:29):
other agencies for help. We arethe sixteenth agency. Fifteen agencies did not
return her call, shot the doorin her face, did not return emails,
put her on a waiting list, said we can't help. And then
number sixteen, the help Squad, she gives us a call and we got
it done. And the reason wegot it done is one, we don't
have any red tape. We don'thave any bureaucracy, you know, red

(16:51):
tape all over the place. Ifyou need help and we have the money
and it's legitimate, it's real simple. We get it done the help Squad.
Since you with the y dot comreally quickly the sitcom Brian and Eve
been working on this locally lately.Yeah. On a side note, so
when I retire from the police, you know, I've always enjoyed writing and
I wrote, actually I wrote ashort film it's on YouTube called Drunken Inheritance.

(17:15):
I've seen it and I and it'sabout a personal story. It's kind
of funny. And then you know, I was sitting around in some a
little bit of free time I had. I said, you know, let's
write a couple episodes of a sitcom. So we did three episodes and uh,
and we're getting ready to release them. It's called Typical west Siders.
We have a website, typic TypicalWestsiders dot com and it's just for fun.
It was just a kind of agoofy, goofy thing. We're not

(17:37):
trying to make any money, no, nothing like that was just fun.
We got some good people involved andit's just silly. It's kind of like
a Seinfeld type goofy thing. Yougot west Side Jim Keifer in west Side
Jim's and there he's in all threeepisodes. Given the name of the sitcom,
that makes perfect sense. Brian iboldOn, behalf of all those out
there that you have help and willhelp. Thank you for what you are
doing and continue to do. Andto all my listeners out there, I've

(17:59):
been talking about every little bit helps, a little tiny bit can help this
mission be fulfilled and change people's lives. For the better, So please try
to help out in some way.The help Squad Sinsey with a y dot
com. Brian, thanks for whatyou're doing for the community and keep up
the great work, my friend.I know we'll talk again real soon.
Thank you, Brian. We appreciateyou. Cut up. Gary Byrne,
he's got two books. He isan authority on secret Service. We'll talk

(18:21):
about the endeavor to the effort toassassinate Donald Trump this past Saturday with Gary
Byrne, author of Crisis of Characterand Secrets of the Secret Service. That'll
be next first, though, OHC. I hate to have to bring cancer
up. We all know cancer sucks. I think that's the only thing in
the entire world everyone can without hesitation, uniformly agree on. So we spring
from a point of agreement. Cancersucks. But if you're the person who

(18:42):
gets the cancer diagnosis been down thisroad, it sucks to a much larger
degree, and of course your family'sgoing to feel terribly as you do.
What you need are great cancer doctors. You need OHC, which is the
ones I turned to thanks to therecommendation of my dear friend Joni. OHC.
They surround you with region's top cancer. Doctors like that been doing for
more than thirty five years. Theyare always on the cutting edge of leading

(19:03):
treatments and clinical trials, which iswhere you want to be. They surround
you with everything you need to helpyou focus on beating cancer, which is
all that you and your family goingto care about. So either start with
OHC or get a second opinion thatnumber eight eight eight six four nine forty
