So, it's Sunday … is today the end of your week or the beginning of your new week? I like to think of Sunday as the last day of my week, before I launch into it all again on Monday. So I wonder if you'll allow me to share something encouraging, something mind-blowingly amazing with you to finish off your week?
Well, whether you find it encouraging, whether you find it amazing, I guess depends on what you believe is going to happen to you once you shed your mortal coil, so to speak.
I received an email the other week full of swearing and abuse from someone whose friend had signed him up to our mailing list as a joke. "I hate this religious rubbish" he wrote. I suspect he wouldn't be encouraged by what I'm about to share but I pray that you will be.
Writing about the vision that God gave him of what heaven will be like, the Apostle John says this:
Revelation 22:3-4 Nothing that God judges guilty will be there in that city. The throne of God and the Lamb will be in the city. God's servants will worship him. They will see his face.
Perhaps that sounds a bit other-worldly, but here's the upshot. Nothing that's evil or hurtful will be there. God and Jesus ,however, will be – and those who believe in Him will be face-to-face with Him, will worship Him, for all eternity.
No more pain, no more sickness, no more tears, no more evil. Just the wonder of an eternity in the Presence of God … for ever and ever and ever.
That's His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
