Turangi's best kept culinary secret is the Hare & Copper Eatery - a shared landed dream between husband and wife team, Andrew Wood executive chef and Liliana Calva operations manager.

Hare & Copper Eatery opened just a few months before the 2020 COVID lockdown, yet, despite the challenges, the hospo business has continued on, and is now a must-visit when travelling through the central North Island.

Andrew’s first introduction into the culinary world was as a kitchen hand working for pocket money at the age of 14.

Graduating as the top student from Weltec Polytechnic Chef School in Wellington, Andrew has spent the last 20 years working his way up in a number of different kitchens in the Hawke’s Bay, Melbourne and most recently Wellington.

In this interview, Andrew and Liliana join Linda to share their business journey and goals for the future.
