Guest: JayBuc Sanders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Fan

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been preparing for Sunday’s playoffs game against the Detroit Lions, some fans have been packing their bags to go watch it.

One of those dedicated fans is super-fan “JayBuc”.

8 On Your Side caught up with him at his Riverview home ahead of his trip.

“Of course, my game day attire I always pack first,” he said.

JayBuc told 8 On Your Side that his Bucs gear isn’t complete without his phantom mask, pirate themed accessories, lucky number 5 jersey and red boots.

“Despite the excitement, trust me, there is some nervousness there, too. Only because we are a game away from NFC Championships,” he said.

JayBuc’s love for the team first began when he attended his first game in elementary school.

“With some of my fellow classmates,” he said. “I remember my first game being the Buccaneers versus the Vikings at the ‘Old Sombrero’.”

He adopted his alter ego “JayBuc” after losing a bet with a friend.

“I made a bet with her that if the Bucs lost that game, not only would we go to the draft but I will dress up,” he said. “It’s been history ever since.”

Over the years, he has made some special memories, like when Mike Evans handed him a football after he scored a touchdown.

While that moment may be hard to beat, JayBuc said it is the devoted fan base that he just loves raving about.

“Different backgrounds, different cultures, different nationalities and one thing that we all have in common, is not only the love for the city, but I know the love of this organization,” he said.
