Clinton (00:09):
Welcome in, welcome in,
welcome friends to the newest edition
of Sea Hawkers What If, the mostunique preview show in the multiverse.
I'm Clinton Bonner.
I am joined by the one, theonly, the great Brandan Schulze.
This would not be, it could notbe, we could not traverse the
Sea Hawkers multiverse without theprotector of that multiverse, Mr.
Phil Lydick.
(00:30):
Boys, I am getting on a- this isthe day before the day before.
I'm on a plane early AM tomorrow.
Yes.
I will see some of you later.
It is Seahawks football.
We're running it forward.
Brandan, how are you doingthe day before the day before?
Brandan (00:45):
I'm great.
I'm ready to go.
Let's, I gotta get on the road.
I still gotta get packed, but,we're gonna be watching Seahawks
football in just a couple of days.
NFL season is here, boys.
Clinton (00:57):
I cannot wait.
Mr.
Phil, how are you feeling about it all?
And we'll get into the theme.
For those that don't knowWhat If, it's a preview show.
We don't know what Phil's gonnacome out, at us with a theme.
The questions all answered live.
We're live right now.
But first and foremost, Phil, howare you feeling as we enter this
2026 NFL season as champions?
Because it's not the Rams, Phil,it's actually the Seahawks.
Phil (01:19):
Pretty tough to feel
better than feeling like we
just won the championship andour winning streak continues.
Trying to make it, what,11 or 12 in a row here?
Yes.
Two in a row against the Patriots.
We will talk about the theme shortly, but real football in two days.
And yes, we get to start it offup here in the Northwest, waiting.
The game two actually doesn't startuntil the next day on the other side
(01:43):
of the world with who everybody'salready pre-crowned, and we wanna
make sure the pre-crowned people, don't have the big week.
So I guess there's alot to look forward to.
I guess a bunch of you areheaded out to the game.
That'll be exciting.
Brandan and Adam will bedriving through, my area.
I wish I was headed there with you,but I'll, I'll still be watching.
I'm looking forward to it.
Brandan (02:01):
Well, there's still time
to pick you up, Phil, on the way.
You know, I got a, I got a seat.
Clinton (02:05):
We can hitch.
Yeah, we can hitch like Marty McFlystyle, right, on a hoverboard.
That's how I see it happening, boys.
So, I
Phil (02:10):
am coaching a high school game
right before our, the Seahawk game starts
so there will be no leaving for me.
Clinton (02:15):
Gotcha.
All right.
Well, hey, we all have commitments.
I understand.
So, hey, it's gonna be a ton of fun.
If you're watching this live or you'rewatching the replay later, it's all good.
Happy Labor Day.
It's a Monday.
Happy Labor Day Monday to y'all.
We don't usually go live on a Monday.
well, not for, not for a previewshow, but the NFL decided to have
a game on Wednesday, so here we arenonetheless making it happen for you.
So what you can do for us is hitthat like, hit that subscribe, pass
(02:37):
us on to 12 twephs, because we thinkwe have a lot of fun out here, and
y'all seem to appreciate it.
So, Mr.
Phil, why don't we get into it a bit.
Where do you wanna take us firstas we start to talk about this
first matchup verse the Patriots?
What do we gotta rememberfirst so we could, you know…
What do we gotta thinkabout for the next game?
Is there something to look backon that might, may give us some
(02:59):
indications or, or at least maybegood for- warm, fuzzy memories, Phil?
Phil (03:03):
Yes.
Starting next week, we will do somethingcalled Previous with The Protector that we
always do, or the Previously portion wherewe look back and consider our current
opponent, who they played last week, but this time who our current opponent
played last time that it mattered wasactually Super Bowl LX- And there are
some changes as we're running it forward, but there's some similarities in some of
(03:24):
the rosters, some of the coaching, andwe'll talk about some of the differences
there when we get to the theme.
But last time you might remember that thePatriots played a real meaningful game.
They lost to a team 29 to 13.
Mm-hmm.
They, didn't have a great time.
The overall yards were similar, but yards don't matter.
Domination matters.
We crushed them in theturnover batter three to zip.
The sacks were just unbelievable.
(03:46):
Obviously pressure's beyond that.
We sacked them six times.
They only sacked us once.
It didn't really matter 'cause we weredominating in the ground game, 141
141 yards on the ground, nine rushingfirst downs while they only had two.
Hmm.
Which resulted in us, dominatingthe time of possession by nearly
seven minutes of football.
It was all around fun for us.
(04:08):
The score could have been evenbigger if we had capitalized, if
Gonzo hadn't gotten our way a coupletimes down toward the red zone.
you guys have any other memoriesthat you wanna shout out before we
head into this game in two days?
Brandan (04:21):
I have quite a
few memories, but I also- Mm
feel like maybe those memories aregonna come up as we, Okay… go
through our questions, Phil.
Phil (04:28):
Yeah.
How about you, Clinton?
Clinton (04:30):
I mean, it's, it's cemented
to my, my soul forever just watching
Riley Mills run through the face ofnow- Yeah… center Jared Wilson.
So, you know, I- and I have aninkling we might be thinking about
that, or talking about ourdefensive, defensive line group- Yeah
as we run it forward.
Phil (04:47):
One of those six sacks.
Well, let's run it forward.
Let's run into our theme.
I tipped off that the clue wasour theme would have something to
do with a important- Mm… newcharacter, and so we're gonna talk
about what if Fleury flourishes?
We have a- That's right… brandnew offensive coordinator.
there'll be a couplequestions involving Mr.
Fleury.
But thinking of flourishing, all thecategories have something to do with what
(05:10):
flourishing is or what flourishing is not.
We have renewal.
We have mayday.
you know, that's not a…
That's a happy thing, but it's not agood thing sometimes when you say mayday.
Mm-hmm.
But it's a nice thing when you bringthe little flowers by your neighbor
when you're a little kid, bangon the door, hit, hit the button
and run, and they have flowers.
Abundant, you know, you haveabundance, for, flourishing.
(05:33):
Green gone brown, that's not a good thing.
You have a wonderful greenyard, and then it goes brown.
Maybe Adam doesn't mind, butmost of us-… don't like that.
vitality- Well, he
Brandan (05:42):
refers to it as going gold,
so, you know, I, I suppose it's
just your perspective on that one.
Phil (05:47):
Yes.
That, that could be true, so we'llhave to figure out what that means
when we get to that category.
Vitality, you know, flourishinghas to do with vitality.
And then barren, things aren't flourishingwhen they're bla- when they're barren.
We ended the season with y'all tying,I think, on the predictions, 'cause
somehow Brandan brought Adam all the wayback to a tie, if I remember correctly.
Clinton (06:05):
Yeah
Phil (06:06):
that's right.
But we alternate back andforth on who gets to start.
We always start with the manwith the earliest letter and the
godfather of the Sea Hawkers Network.
Brandan gets to go firston the very first game.
Which category will we go to, Brandan?
Brandan (06:23):
All right.
I am most fascinated, one,by your graphic of-… Mr.
Brian Fleury there on the screen.
but the, the topic andthe, the, category that
fascinates me the most is mayday.
Phil (06:38):
Mayday.
Mayday is happy when you bringflowers to your neighbor.
It's not happy if your name isDrake Maye playing the Seahawks.
Mayday, mayday.
What if our Hawks pass rush producesanother alarming pocket for Mr.
Drake Maye?
Do you expect this, Brandan?
And how might Mr.
McDaniels try to counter our awesomepass rush so there'll be less maydays?
Brandan (07:04):
I think the one thing that…
Gosh, I wish he had this answer, right?
or I bet he wishes he had thisanswer, for the Super Bowl.
So I have to expect that Josh McDanielshas been thinking about this the entire
off-season- Yeah… because it's not likewe lost many guys on the defensive line.
Boye Mafe is the one guy who comesto mind, and they've, they've found
(07:26):
an additional pass rusher to,to come in and, take that spot.
So, I, I have to expect that the passrush is going to continue to be there.
I mean, it's not like, youknow, i- in the off-season Will
Campbell's arms, grew any longer.
He's still going to be facingoff against Derick Hall and
(07:49):
and trying to hold him off.
So, if I were JoshMcDaniels I, I think with…
I, I would, I would try a heavier doseof Rhamondre, Rhamondre Stevenson
because, well, the, the unfortunatething for the Patriots is that Tre'Veyon
Henderson is likely not going to play.
(08:11):
He's been injured.
Mm.
And so whether or not you can get himinvolved, I, I don't think running him
up the middle is the answer, so,trying to pitch him outside, trying
to get him, involved in a shortpassing game outside, hopefully
for, well, for McDaniels-
with the idea of hoping to- Yeah… to open up the middle a little bit and
(08:31):
take a little bit of pressure off of Maye.
I, I think it's just those, littleoutside passes to- Okay… Stevenson
that I, I think he's going to try and, and counter that pass rush with that.
Phil (08:43):
Yeah, we pressured
them inside and out.
Clinton, remind us which NewEngland running back is better
at helping out in pass pro?
Clinton (08:50):
I think Rhamondre
by a, by a country mile.
Yes.
Tre- Hen- Tre- Tre'Veyon's not,he's not a kind of an all-around back at
this point, and he's still not healthy.
Definitely the, the game breaker, but I, I mean, I think if you had to
tell me which one you w- rather haveon your team, I'd take Stevenson.
That's, that's just me.
you know, onto what McDanielscan do, their, their makeup is
very, very different, right?
(09:10):
Mm-hmm.
So it can, it can help themget the ball out faster.
I'll go back to somethingBrandan scoffed at the other day.
Now they have a really good fullback.
I mean, Reggie Gilliam is an excellent, excellent fullback coming from Buffalo.
Very good.
Changes the game.
Now they have a better guard.
They move, with, you know, Tuck Tucker.
Now let's see if he can come back andplay as he, as he did when he was healthy
(09:30):
with the Jets, and that's not a easy placeto play, but he was still a good guard.
you know, and they moved Wilsoninto to center, et cetera, et cetera.
So- There are things there, and of course they've added a
lot of weaponry on the outside.
The big thing that, that McDaniels, that it's like overtly stated what
they're going to try and do ingeneral is be a lot more quick-paced.
(09:52):
The Patriots were, I think the, they, they ran the third lowest volume of
plays totally last year, and a lotof that was just pace in, in the
huddle, and then changing at the line.
And I think, from McDaniels'own words, they really wanna
increase that pace a lot.
Yeah.
So to lean into what Brandan was sayingtoo, when you increase that pace, you're
(10:13):
really, I think, asking your quarterbackto also take what's there more often
and that was one of the criticismscoming down the stretch with May.
They played tough teams.
They played the Texans, theyplayed the Broncos, they played
they played the Seahawks.
Very tough defenses.
He got sacked 21 times, throughoutthe, throughout the playoffs.
Phil (10:30):
Yeah.
Clinton (10:30):
All that being said, guys, y-
May wasn't very good in the playoffs.
He just wasn't.
They almost got ousted by theBroncos, which Stidham should've
should've lost that game.
so all that being said, McDanielsis going to try and change this.
I think we're gonna see it come outin more, more pacing, and quicker
faster plays, to alleviate this.
We have our own challenges, and we'll,I'm sure we'll get to them with who
(10:52):
is in and who's out for Seattle.
We still don't know.
But, our defensive tacklesand our edge group versus that
line, give me that all day.
Sure.
But they're gonna go tomore quick game, Phil.
Phil (11:02):
And pacing and hurrying
up the offense can help if you're
not facing someone like Nick Emmanwori.
But we don't know if they'regonna be facing the versatile Mr.
Emmanwori, so that could be a massive factorin particular with this game the way New
England likes to play, right Brandan?
Yeah.
Brandan (11:20):
It, it could be a factor.
It could also be that if they do tryand run the ball more, if Tyrice Knight
is out there, and, and they startdoing, more with three linebackers
instead of having Emmanwori out there.
It, it, it could end upplaying to a neutral, right?
Phil (11:37):
Yeah.
It'd be curious to see what happensthere, but it was awesome to see
Nick go out there for practice, anda little video of that happening
yesterday, in full pads, so if- Mm-hmm.
I, I imagine they'll wanna have him on asnap count if he plays, but, that's
that's a huge, huge, huge determiner.
Clinton, you have fivechoices on the board.
Where are we going next?
Clinton (11:57):
Well, I like a lot of
them, but I think a- abundance
and the idea of abundance-
Phil (12:01):
Yes
… Clinton (12:02):
I'm attracted to
that idea, so let's go.
Phil (12:04):
Okay.
Let's see what I…
Thinking of abundance,Clinton, where else could go?
It's a plethora.
Brandan, it's a plethora.
A whole plethora of pass catchers, and what we mean by plethora is all
different types, sizes, positions.
What if you tell us whom you hope tosee bloom as we think about Fleury
flourishing, whom do you hope tosee bloom in particular against
(12:25):
this New England defense, Clinton?
Clinton (12:27):
Yeah, so this is not
even who I hope to see bloom.
This is who's gonna have a great game.
Okay.
And his name's, his name's Cooper Kupp.
Oh, all right.
And it's not because he had a greatoff-season and he's, you know, a darling
and he's a coach, and he catches fiveballs somehow behind his back in, in
that latest video, which is just…
I don't think it's AI.
If someone…
T- tell, tell us, please, is that AI?
It looked, it looked amazing, butif you didn't see that video yet
just go search Cooper Kupp balls andhopefully you find the right video.
(12:51):
It's awesome.
But yeah, it's amazing.
But
Phil (12:53):
That could go wrong,
though, the way you said that, Clinton
Clinton (12:56):
but- I,
that, that's why- Yeah
I said I hope you find the right video.
Yeah, yeah.
But here's the thing with Cooper Kuppand, and why it's really more about
New England than it is Cooper Kupp.
Cooper Kupp is skilled.
He knows how to get open.
he does get good yak.
Adam, looking at you on that one.
But with all those things, they're gonna do what they can to
eliminate JSN and do the brackets.
He'll still get his, and we, you know, with Barner, Arroyo, we think we'll get
(13:17):
some balls distributed that way as well.
We don't know what's happeningwith Christian Gonzalez.
I, guys, I was painting all day, so Idon't know if there was any more news.
So if there's, like, news thatGonzo is absolutely playing
please stop me in my tracks.
Tell me right now that he's playing.
But you got some other players thatare a little, little long in the
tooth, and I just think that CooperKupp is going to exploit this team.
(13:37):
And if Tory Horton's not playing, that's the other piece of it, too.
It's like, if Horton was there,I would be talking about the
complement of these dudes.
Well- He's
Phil (13:44):
practicing in pads, too, though
… Clinton (13:45):
we, we'll see.
If Horton plays, great, but I still expectKupp to go, you know, I don't know.
It's not a huge, huge game, butmaybe four or five receptions.
He's only predicted to get two and a half.
So I think he's gonna have a very sizablegame, do what he does naturally, and this
is not a great line, linebacking core.
This is not a great edge groupwith the, with the, Patriots
(14:06):
And it's, and if Gonzo's notthere, it's a fine-ish secondary.
So all that screams to me a savvyveteran, knows how to get open, and
find extra yards, and catch the ball.
That's Cooper Kupp.
And
Phil (14:20):
Kupp does get the
YAC, and he had the longest
play for Seahawks last year.
It was probably slower thanLeo's-… thick six, but I mean, he
he just finds a way to keep going.
He catches the ball, he'snot going right down.
You're gonna have to tackle him.
It's gonna take you a little bit oftime, and if you don't bring everything
you got, he's gonna keep going.
So that, it is fascinating howhe gets a, how he gets the YAC.
(14:41):
Brandan, how about you?
Who's gonna bloom?
Who's gonna flourish in,amongst Darnold's pass catchers?
Brandan (14:47):
Oh, boy.
Since this is, th- this is couchedas what I hope to see bloom
against New England, guys, I'mgoing with JSN here because- Okay.
Mm… I, I hope, I hope ChristianGonzalez plays because I have to imagine
that a dude who's been sitting out ofpractice, because he's trying to get
his contract, he doesn't wanna get hurtin practice while he's waiting for his new
(15:10):
deal, I hope he plays because I have toimagine there's an element of rust there.
And what we saw, JSN, he wastargeted 10 times in the Super
Bowl, and then you remember he,he had a little bit of an injury.
He had to go out.
He only caught four passes inthe- Mm-hmm… Super Bowl.
And if you combine what we could seewith early season, healthy, rust-free
(15:35):
JSN going up against a potentiallyrusty Christian Gonzalez who, oh, he's
sitting out for a contract, and if wesee Jaxon Smith-Njigba torch the heck
out of him in week one, oh my gosh, that would feel so, so good, guys.
Phil (15:51):
Mm, I love that.
I love that.
Gentlemen, there were so manyoptions on the board, and you
guys went straight up chalk.
You went with our two, our, our guysthat caught the most balls last year.
So- I had
Brandan (16:00):
a reason to go
Phil (16:01):
chalk
Brandan (16:01):
Phil.
Phil (16:01):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Commenters, tell us if that was awesome orif that was boring 'cause I can't decide.
It was it awesome that you picked the two-… or that you didn't go, like, somewhere
over there in the nooks and the crannies, you just went for the obvious choices?
But that'd be great.
Let's get started out with the guysthat should dominate in the first game.
We have four choices remaining.
Abundance is gone now, along with Mayday.
(16:24):
Brandan, where are we going?
Brandan (16:25):
I'm back at it.
How about green gone brown?
Phil (16:29):
Green gone brown.
Mm.
Okay.
So this is one that might be, while weknow there's some things that have gone-
Oh… maybe toward our advantage, thathave been differences since the Super
Bowl, this is one that could be goingpotentially in the Pats' advantage.
So Brandan, what if AJ and thepass catchers create challenges
for our slightly different DB room?
(16:51):
We shut them down, made it hard for themto find anything open in the Super Bowl.
What impact do you expect to sprout upfrom the changes, I'm talking about our
DBs and their pass catchers, in this game?
Brandan (17:04):
I think the biggest challenge
that I look at from RDBs, it, it, it
would be that AJ Brown difference becauseI th- it, it's going to be difficult.
I think that's an easy mismatch to lookat, for, you know, what they, that
that challenge that they could bring.
And, I think that, y- youprobably wanna have a healthy dose
(17:28):
of Spoon on AJ just because, again,it's, it's our dude who got paid in
the off-season against the guy thatthey expect to be their number one.
I'd, I'd want that match up, the,the one-on-one match up between Spoon
and AJ Brown, and that's, unfortunately,I think that's gonna end up taking
that's, blitz potential awayfrom Spoon, and, and, you know, we
(17:50):
saw that- Yeah… that was one ofthe most memorable plays, right?
Sure.
It was awesome.
From when Spoon came in, he gotthe, the, the pass deflection.
It wasn't a fumble, eventhough it should've been a fumble
but, right into the arms ofUchenna Nwosu for the touchdown.
And so I, I think that something like thatcould end up taking that potential away.
(18:10):
And, and so that, I think, putsus at a l- slight disadvantage
of, of having that in the bag.
Mm.
May- maybe we see it once or twice, but I think that if they come out
early going with AJ and tryingto get him involved, it, it could
take that out of the bag for Mike.
Phil (18:27):
Interesting.
Yeah, I don't…
I'm not sure what I think ofthe AJ versus Spoon match up.
I generally think I like Spoon againstanyone, but they are s- they're
a little different kind of guys.
How about you, Clinton?
what kind of challenges doyou expect to sprout up from the
differences of our backfield andtheir pass catchers since last- Yeah
since Super Bowl?
Clinton (18:44):
For sure, and,
and since yesterday, right?
'Cause right now, again, I, again, Iwas painting all day, guys, so tell me
if there's any, any Tyreek Hill newsthat I've missed from today, but he
pops up with a hamstring injury- Nothingyet… what, just yesterday, right?
So no news just yet.
You have to
Brandan (18:57):
realize, Clinton, it's
still morning time on the West Coast
so they're- It- We're not gettingany news until this afternoon.
Clinton (19:02):
But in Australia, they're
a full day ahead as Mi- as Shanahan
said in making fun of the Rams.
Actually, I kind of love that thing.
So good job.
I, I hate to say good job atShanahan, but good job to Shanahan.
I mean
Phil (19:11):
Shanahan's been
getting points from the 12s all
the way since the Super Bowl.
Like, he was
Clinton (19:15):
He's, he's
hating on the Rams too.
Everybody hates the Rams-Yeah… which I love.
Okay, so but the, thereis a question here.
So, look, I love w- I will prefacethis with a s- a small preamble and say
I love playing the Patriots week one.
It has nothing to do with the Super Bowl.
Okay.
That's cool.
It has everything to do that the, that the Patriots put their chips
into changing their offense.
(19:36):
And for the most part, they lost, theylost some players on the edge on, on
defense, and they lost a linebacker, andthey're, you know, have some replacements
that they'll try to try out there.
All good.
with that- the, they reallyput their chips into the offense.
I love nothing more than playing whatis essentially a brand new offense.
Yeah.
It's a comp- it's a complicated offense.
McDaniels does a lot of differentthings, asks a lot of receivers to
(19:59):
kinda notice what's happening thatthe defense gives them, and then
you know, make choice, choices there.
So I love that kinda haywire-ness.
So do I- Mm-hmm… expect aturnover or two because the
communication's not great yet?
I actually do.
So I love the timing of whenwe're getting the Patriots.
on the other side ofit, look, I think A.J.
Brown's, he's still a stud.
He's still a really good wide receiver.
(20:20):
Yeah.
So give him the flowers.
But Romeo Doubs is, is a legit two,and what it does down the line, it
takes Pop Douglas, who is, you know,he's, he's a, just a slot guy, but
he's a good slot guy, but it makeshim a legitimate three slot guy.
So full complement of, of kind ofwhat, what a wide receiver room should
actually look like in modern NFL, and Ithink that just gets, if we're missing
(20:42):
Okada, and we're missing Emmanwori, and we gotta put Spoon out on A.J.-
As, as Brandan was saying, I thinkit creates little opportunities and
vacuums that they could exploit thingswith Hunter Henry and Pop Douglas a
little bit, which also kinda complementor go, hand-in-hand with getting
the ball out mo- more quickly, likewe talked about in the first answer.
(21:03):
So that's where I'd, I'd see thePatriots really trying to make some hay.
It's dinking and dunking.
It's not the, the over-the-top shots, but that dinking and dunking can add up.
You could chew clock, you couldextend drives, you can get first
downs, and, they did not dothat in the Super Bowl whatsoever.
So I would look for that change, Phil.
Phil (21:22):
Are you more concerned,
Brandan, with their upgrades
or our potential lack of,what we had in the Super Bowl?
Brandan (21:31):
I, I think it's probably
more of the lack of what we have in the
Super Bowl because that Nick Emmanworipiece is- Yeah… is big for me.
Mm-hmm.
if Ty Okada is unable to go withhis mystery hamstring injury that popped
up this week, you know, that makes adifference because then you're not only
going down from Coby Bryant to Ty Okada, you know, it's, it's Ty Okada to whoever
(21:53):
is the, the next guy up behind Ty.
And, I, I didn't necessarilywanna find out who that is, but
it's possible that we might-may find out who that is and
come- Much quicker than we all
Phil (22:05):
wanted.
Clinton (22:05):
Yes.
Yeah.
Steak and beer bell, baby.
Come on down.
Brandan (22:07):
Yeah.
D'Anthony Bell being back is handy.
I, I just can't imagine that…
And that's what has me a little bit moreworried about the Okoda injury because
do you allow, do you chance D'AnthonyBell leaving if Ty Okada is the, Hmm
i- is injured a week ago whenthey're doing roster cuts?
Yeah.
I, I don't know if they do.
(22:30):
They
Phil (22:30):
must've had a handshake
agreement or they didn't know this or-
Clinton (22:33):
Or
Phil (22:33):
it's literally-
We're not gonna play one safety.
There's, there's
Brandan (22:35):
no- Didn't he go and
sign with somebody else like some
of the other guys, and, and we'relike, "Whoa, wait a second"?
Clinton (22:40):
I thought so, too,
but I'm just happy he's back.
But, but I, but to your point,though- Yeah… I think Brandan
is like you wouldn't take thatrisk if, if this injury existed.
So is it, like, is it legit brand new?
It popped up yesterday, so is it new?
And the answer is we don't know.
We won't know prob- probably tillmaybe later today or even tomorrow.
Phil (22:58):
I mean, Love is
awesome, but he's not gonna be
the only safety on the field.
We're not gonna just be rollingthree linebackers all the time, so-
Clinton (23:05):
Correct, correct
… Phil (23:05):
yeah, and if Nick's-- I think
Nick's gonna play, just how much he's
gonna play, I don't think- Interesting… I don't think Mike has any expectation
of playing him the entire game.
I
Clinton (23:15):
I
Brandan (23:15):
think that- Hmm.
I, I don't expect- You know, and if weare rolling three linebackers, then
I mean, that's, that's what wouldhave me concerned about what Clinton
brought up, and then you're talkingabout Pop Douglas being more involved
and then there's the mismatch that way.
I, I have to imagine that theywouldn't, you know, if they're
going heavy 11 with, we aren'tgonna see a ton of Tyrice Knight.
Clinton (23:32):
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's in- that, that'llbe really interesting.
I mean, the Patriots ran 11a lot last year, and again
Brandan (23:38):
that comp- And they didn't
want to in the Super Bowl either.
I know, I know.
They, they said that that wasvery much dependent on the score
is why they ended up going-Yeah… heavy on 11 personnel.
Clinton (23:47):
Yeah.
Phil (23:47):
Yeah.
interesting.
Like a- We're gonna have a s- we're gonnahave another safety out there, and if it's
not Ty, it's gonna be somebody that Mikeprobably wasn't hoping we'd have to see
this quick, so- Well, Clinton, you're up.
Renewal, vitality, or barren?
Clinton (23:59):
Hmm.
Well, one of those things.
I'll go renewal.
Let's go with renewal.
Phil (24:03):
Renewal.
Okay, another change.
Clinton (24:05):
Spring has sprung.
Phil (24:06):
Yes, another change.
In the fall.
Guess I crossed it off early.
What if our freshly planted runningback- Vibe out… can quickly get
ingrained into Fleury's offense?
Are there things you need to see fromthe run game in week one, Clinton?
Clinton (24:21):
Oh, I'm so…
Brandan, I think, I, I don't, I knowyou, you can't win by making choices
but I feel like I won, I won the week.
I wanted this, I wanted this one first.
I knew, even though we don't know, Iknew we'd get a Jahmyr Price question.
I'm just so happy that I, Iget the first crack at this.
All right.
This is, I'm gonna just ch- massagethe words a little bit because the
word need there is not working for me.
(24:43):
Okay.
But the word, like, things you need to see.
The, I'm gonna change it to a, a ver- awant and an- Okay, that's fine… and
an exploitation that I think we cantake advantage of with the Patriots.
Look, Dre'Mont Jones is their big add.
Harold Landry's on the pup.
This is not a…
Their defensive tackles,they're f- they're okay.
They're okay.
It's worse than they were in theSuper Bowl- Yeah… and their
edge group is not that good.
(25:04):
So-
Phil (25:04):
Yes, I have a question
that does, does especially deal
with their edge group for sure
Clinton (25:08):
Okay, cool.
So I, I'll leave that part of it, youknow, what they can manifest, like
alone, but, a back like Jahmyr Price, like what do I think he is special at?
This is with watching some collegetape and just listening, right?
We're all fans here and listening to beatreporters and, and seeing what we can see.
I think his vision, his contact balance, and his ability to make those cuts kind of
(25:30):
upstream, so like a little kind of counterS-type things, but start stretching
it wide and then do that jump cut orthat one cut back against the grain.
I am just so looking forwardto some over pursuits by edge
groups from the Patriots- Mm-hmm.
Yeah… and watchingJahmyr Price get around…
Not, I'm not talking like a sweepthat he gets around the edge.
Hopefully that happens, you know, a coupletimes anyway because we block it well.
(25:53):
That's just like studentbody left, cool, cool, cool.
Let's block that well, and let's sealit, and let's see him go do his thing.
I'm talking about where he startsleft, puts on the brakes- Heads it
back right or left, if you will, and gets around the edge group
'cause their edge is not that good.
Yeah.
And we're doing a good job sealing thoseblocks and giving the opportunities there.
So that's my biggest thing, Phil.
(26:15):
I think we're going to see that, 'causeI think it's one of his best skills is
is his ability to notice and make a veryquick judgment that, oh man, if I cut
this back now, you know, being, being precise with that, that he's got the
ability to, to break some things to theoutside, and that, those become- Mm-hmm
chunk plays.
Those are your 12-plus yarders, and they break the soul, just
(26:37):
like it did in the Super Bowl.
Yeah.
They break the soul of what isactually a pretty good defense.
So that is what I'm most keen to see, Mr.
Phil.
Phil (26:44):
I think it's still almost
a need, because when you put seeds in
the garden, after a few days, you kindaneed to see them starting to sprout up.
So maybe you don't see a dominantversion of that, but there needs to be
some evidence of that against this def-against this defense of all places.
Fleury needs to be takingadvantage, and we should see some
of- Price getting, getting there.
(27:06):
I, I'll be a little bit concernedif we see none of that in, even
if though it's the first game Oh
Clinton (27:09):
I agree.
I, no, I agree.
Like I, that-
Yeah I like the way you kind offramed it So it's kind of the need.
Well, for sure, like you couldtake it there and say the green
shoots are an absolute need.
I'm going beyond that, and I expecthim to have a pretty darn good game.
And by the way, so does Vegas.
Vegas has him as the, the highestpo- highest running back in terms
of most yards they expect fromany individual running back.
(27:30):
It's Price.
He hasn't touched the football yetin the pros, so that's kinda cool.
Phil (27:34):
How about you, Brandan?
the run game overall, are theresome things you need to see, from
Fleury's offense in the run game here?
Brandan (27:41):
Yeah, first I have to kind
of bag on Clinton a little bit for-
… massaging the question and being apolitician and taking the word need out-
so it could fit into his narrative.
But that's fine.
I'm gonna honor the question that Philproduced, and talk about the thing
that I need to see from Brian Fleury, and that is I need to see enough of a
commitment to the run game- Okay, yeah… that it sets up play action passing.
(28:03):
Because the, I have this, lingering from when we attended the
game last season, week one- Oh, yeah
and there was, no play actionpassing against the San Francisco 49ers.
Horrible.
And that was Cl- Kubiak, and, andwe got to see, so little of it.
Now, he did come around.
Mm-hmm.
But I think it's very importantthat we need to see that setting
(28:26):
up play action passing right away, week one against this Patriots team.
Phil (28:31):
That was criminal.
Clinton (28:32):
I love that.
I have to hop in real quick.
Brandan, I might havepicked the right question.
You had the betteranswer, so you won anyway.
That's great, but it wassomething I wrote down previously.
I'll be quick with it, but when, whenMacdonald did not like Grubb, it, it
was evident, and he was gone, right?
And then there was one week withKubiak not being under center
(28:52):
not using play action, and theyjust never went back to it again.
The part that I could, like, take a lotof solace in is I really think that Fleury
and, you know, Fleury was on the othersidelines with the 49ers during that
s- that very game we're talking about.
I can guarantee you Macdonald and Fleurytalked, Fleury talked about that game.
Oh
Phil (29:11):
yeah.
Clinton (29:12):
And they were like, "N- no.
I don't care that it's your first game.
We're not starting that way."
And it's less about Fleury.
It's everything to do about Mike Macdonald.
Phil (29:20):
Yeah.
Brandan (29:21):
Yeah, the Charlie the unicorn
in chat saying, "I will guarantee
play action passing in week one."
Clinton (29:26):
I like it.
Thanks, Charlie.
Phil (29:27):
Yeah.
We don't just need to.
We know we're gonna see it.
Brandan, two choices.
You're gonna leaveClinton with one of them.
We have vitality or barren.
You going positive or negative here?
Brandan (29:36):
I wanna leave, Clinton
and the entire show with vitality
at the end, so I'm taking barren.
Oh, that's
Clinton (29:42):
that's nice.
Phil (29:43):
Okay.
Barren, it sounds negative, but it's actually super
positive for us, in my opinion.
Here we go Brandan, what if Lucasand Cross have it easy this week
against this weak Edge group?
How should Fleury takeadvantage of their dominance?
In other words, instead of just lettingCross and Lucas kick back and, grill
(30:05):
steaks and block with one hand againstthis putrid, pathetic worst Edge group
I've ever seen come into a season, how should Fleury really, really take
advantage of their- incapability todo anything against Lucas and Cross.
Brandan (30:19):
Yeah, I think the, there's
a couple easy answers to this one.
I would like to see, just some, some movement of Sam Darnold outside
of the pocket because- Okay… one, one of the things that I, I…
It's probably my biggest concerncoming into this game is you have
those interior defenders.
(30:41):
You have Christian Barmore, you have Milton Williams.
Yeah.
I think Barmore might bedealing with an injury, but
Clinton (30:47):
He, he is, but I think it,
maybe he's expected to play again.
Yeah.
Chad can tell us, but Isaw that too, Brandan.
Brandan (30:51):
But, those two guys
up the middle are the guys that
I have my biggest concerns about.
And yeah, I, I know thatwe're bringing back our entire
offensive line from last year.
Yes.
But still, it's the difference of acouple interior defenders who have
had, you know, entire off-season to gethealthy who are, you know, haven't been.
(31:12):
I, those are big dudes who, you know,by the Super Bowl, like, they've gone
through a whole full season and- Mm.
Yeah… I, I just w- worryabout- So did ours, though
those dominance of the guys-Right… in the interior, so.
what's that, Phil?
Phil (31:25):
I said, so did our
interior defenders, and they did-
Yeah… okay in the Super Bowl.
Brandan (31:28):
They did okay in the
Super Bowl, but I think that just
going into this game with the planof, oh, they did okay in the Super
Bowl so they're gonna be fine-
Phil (31:36):
Mm
Brandan (31:36):
I, I think I wanna
get, Sam Darnold outside
and on the move a little bit.
you know, and, and playaction would set that up, right?
To where he's-
Phil (31:46):
Yes
… Brandan (31:46):
going from play action
and then rolling out, and then getting
him more on the edges to where I, I thinkthat they can have that kind of dominance.
Phil (31:54):
Yeah, and some tight end
boots, some boots to tight ends- Mm
'cause they're not gonna needto help much against this.
By the way, Clinton, before yourquestion, if I was a Patriots fan, do
you know how infuriated I'd be right now?
You have this really good team thatwas a win away from being champs
and what does your personnel groupdo about your biggest weakness?
Like, almost bupkis.
You bring in a journeyman dude andyou're, you're terrible at edge.
(32:16):
How do you expect to succeed withthat kind of preparation for a season?
Anyway, that's- Yeah… that's my beef.
If I was, if I sadly had to be a Patriotsfan, that's how I'd be feeling right now.
Brandan (32:27):
Well, they did bring
in Harold Landry, so like
the, but then he's injured, so.
Phil (32:31):
That's true.
You're right.
Brandan (32:32):
You're right.
You know, they, they didsomething, it's just w- not, you
know, Dre'Mont Jones is not it.
Phil (32:38):
Yeah, that's, that's right.
Okay, Clinton, how aboutthe real question here?
Yeah… how do you think Fleuryshould take advantage of our big
strength against them here on offense?
Clinton (32:46):
Yeah, for sure, and I do expect
the Patriots to blitz a good amount
because, and I, I think it was, Ithink it was Charlie the Unicorn saying
about this too, because of the lack ofedge and the lack of depth they have
and pressure that they'll likely get.
But in, what I'd like to see is inscenarios where it might seem like
more run, scenarios, where wehave, condensed formations
(33:07):
when Coach, Derek was on talkingabout the ace formation, two tight
ends and two wide receivers, but all,all of it kind of really condensed.
What I'd love to see is trustAbe and, and, Ch- trust
Charles to handle their business.
Typically, if you have tremendousedges, what do you have to do?
You put a fullback in, keep them back.
You chip with your tight ends.
Yep.
Or a cup Bobo style receiver really doesa number before then maybe they leak out.
(33:32):
So if I'm looking at that Andwith the concoction that can
be, what is the kind of spell?
It's like, well, if they can just do moredamage than the two anchors, Lucas
and Cross, and just win their one-on-ones,what about some early down Arroyo?
Some early down- Yeah, yep… earlydown stuff to Barner over the middle.
(33:53):
That, again, the play action stuff, andthen, and we're getting chunk plays.
Or, when we, when we do believethey're gonna be teeing off, maybe
they're blitzing early down, and we'rehitting them with, with the right s- the
a s- a screen at the right time, guys.
And it's less about, oh, we have to stayhome and be, like, a max protect team.
That should not be the case.
That's right.
(34:13):
So if we don't, if we don't haveto be in this kind of max protect
mindset, well, then how do weget our playmakers more involved?
But, but again, thePatriots are not stupid.
They, they're gonna be…
You can't be third and eightwhen you're trying that.
So the more, quote-unquote,obvious time to try that stuff
might be a second and two- Yeah
or a first and 10.
And if Sam could get a couple of playaction, just zings, 15, 20 yards down the
(34:37):
seams early first quarter- Yeah… first20 minutes, guys, I think we'll be seeing
it, and that'll be a delight to see.
So that would be, that'd be kind ofthe, the thing that would prove, hey
they're doing exactly that, Phil.
Phil (34:49):
Yes.
I think there's a chance for ouroffense to have just a absolute
awesome game because of thisjoke show they have on the edge.
I mean, Fleury should beable to absolutely- You
Clinton (34:59):
are, you are not a fan of
their, of their, edges there, Phil.
I, I like that.
Phil (35:02):
Well, is there
anything worse that you've seen?
I mean, I, bad teams havebetter edge groups than this one.
I mean, like you said, I,I was, I was- I mean, the
Brandan (35:10):
Falcons are pretty bad.
Clinton (35:11):
Well, they have to do, they got a
guy in jail and a guy that just got, what
you know, banged up for the year, right?
So they have theirreasons for being…
Falcons had, what, thethird-most sacks last year, and
now they just got decimated.
So anyway, this is enough Falcon stock.
Phil (35:25):
Yeah, the danger I think for
Fleury would be this is such a great
advantage to pass over the opportunityto force the run game down their throat
anyway because he needs to get thatestablished and not just say, "Boy, I
could just cook all day with Sam onlyhaving to worry about up the gut."
It'd be so tempting to do with the passcatchers we have and with their inability
(35:46):
to really do much without blitzing.
It could be a fun game, but he needs to…
And then you mentioned earlier,Clinton, let's get some of that
outside zone, take advantage there.
why not?
Yeah.
We have one category left, soyou don't have to choose it
Clinton, but you get to go first.
On vitality, this is agood way to end I think, 'cause
y'all are gonna be at this game.
Clinton, what if our Hawksget extra juice from dropping
(36:07):
another champ banner in Lumen?
I was there to get to see them againstthe Packers, and we were juiced up.
Mm-hmm.
if Earl hadn't dropped thatpunt, I mean, I can't think
of much else that, that…
We just pretty muchdominated all the way around.
But there was a lot of juice coming out, and, and people were experiencing it.
Mm.
Extra juice from the banner drop,do you expect vibes to impact this
game in some kind of way, Clinton?
Clinton (36:28):
No, not vibes.
Okay.
but that, but that's okay.
And then there's some…
It's, it's a Wednesday.
It's just gonna f- it's gonnafeel a little- Sure… off.
It's just gonna…
And it, and people aren't, Idon't, you know, you're, you're
mentally getting ready for it.
Now, this year you don't have a,in Seattle, PNW, you don't
have, you don't have the Marinerskind of contending with attention.
So attention- No… just fully shiftto, to the Seahawks, which that'll help.
(36:50):
Yeah.
But, but where I, but you know what I…
You mentioned Earl Thomas, which m-which to me br- that's special teams
'cause he punt, he was a punt returnerfor literally like one day- Yeah… and
then never again, and that's okay, Earl.
We love you anyway.
but what I do expect, and thiswill get the crowd fired up right away
guys, is, look, the Patriots, the backend of their roster, when it was like
(37:14):
cut down to 53 day, they, they changedlike nine or 10 dudes out the back end.
So-
Phil (37:19):
Okay
… Clinton (37:20):
the, okay, yes, that's
not their starting core, but guys
who- your last 10 dudes on youractive roster, what do they play?
What do they actually contribute to?
Phil (37:31):
Yeah.
Clinton (37:32):
W- no, what's the answer?
Like, what, the last 10dudes on the Seahawks.
So Seah- Yeah… 43 to53, what do they play?
Special teams.
It's not offense, it'snot defense, it's- Yeah
Phil (37:40):
special teams.
Clinton (37:41):
Yeah… special teams.
They just, they just changedout 10 dudes two weeks ago.
So the depth of this rosterfor the Patriots is not good.
That's right.
Otherwise you don't make awholesale change like that.
Yeah.
So vibe wise and energy wise, man,Shaheed taking back a punt, Shaheed
taking back a, a, a long kickoff returnto set something up nice and easy, a
(38:02):
blocked punt, a blocked field goal.
I don't know how it might come to be,guys, but a big special teams play that
ignites the crowd, I actually expect that.
Phil (38:12):
I know I tried to lead you,
Clinton, and obviously I failed, but-
… think about, think about this game.
Those are real dudes.
We just got done watching all thisHard Knocks, and they did not really
have the juice in the preseason.
It was quite obvious.
It just wasn't it.
But here we're gonna have, we'regonna have major rock stars there.
The fans are gonna be firedup to see the banner drop.
(38:33):
It's just gonna f- like, the s- NFL seasonis finally kicking off for real, and you
just say, "Nah, none of that matters.
Now if Shaheed-" I just don't-
Brandan (38:39):
I'm so glad that that was
his answer, Phil, because- I, yeah.
Nope, Brandan… the fact that heis attending this game, it makes it
all that much better because at theend, on- once this game kicks off and
once it gets going, I am expectingthat look from Clinton to go- You're
Phil (38:52):
gonna rub it in
Brandan (38:53):
"Man, oh man, I was so wrong
when I made that answer" "Because vibes
are absolutely impacting this game."
Clinton (38:59):
It won't matter to the
players, is what I'm saying.
It won't matter.
Oh, it's
Brandan (39:02):
gonna matter.
Clinton (39:02):
I, I'm gonna be fired up, 'cause
I'm always fired up, and this is gonna be
Phil (39:04):
the- Did you see those players?
They were not…
Like, they are real people.
I, look, I understand that.
They're not just players.
Clinton (39:10):
I'm just saying if this
game was taking place in Tasmania
the real players would be fired up.
Okay.
And, Okay, I got you there… that's 'cause, because they're
professionals, and Mike- And it'sin person… and Mike knows…
But anyway, but Brandan, I, youmay, may have just given your
answer, but, but please.
Phil (39:23):
Go ahead.
Brandan (39:23):
No, that is my
answer because-… it's, if
you've, if you've ever had…
There, well, shoot, we've only hadone time in history, right, where the
Seahawks have been Super Bowl champsand then returned home for a home
opener where they drop the banner.
And I think vibes absolutely impactedthat game, too, because, the, that
(39:45):
opening game, after the, the win, against the Broncos the previous
season, it, it just, it felt like- It, it-
Phil (39:55):
The Packers
look doomed the whole time
Brandan (39:57):
They look doomed
the whole time, Phil.
And I, I just have that feeling thathistory is going to repeat itself
and it, it often does, I think, inthese openers, especially when it's
a, an opener against the team that youalready dominated in the Super Bowl.
Phil (40:13):
That makes it different.
I, I wa- I thought somebody mightgo there because maybe New England's
a little juiced, they've been alloff-season, to try to attempt their
revenge instead of the Packers justgoing in, getting ready to get boat
raced by Marshawn in the trenches.
do you think it'll affectthe Patriots differently since
they get an immediate repeat?
will it…
(40:33):
Or is it just gonna bemore strategy advantages
Brandan (40:36):
since they get to- I
listened to some of those Patriots
press conferences, Phil, and Ifeel like they, they get that sense
that they're walking into doom.
Like, I- Okay.
Phil (40:43):
Right?
Brandan (40:43):
Yeah.
Listening to Josh McDaniels and Taka- and,and their defensive coordinator, they…
Talk about juice.
No juice- Okay… fromthe, their coordinators.
Phil (40:53):
Yeah.
And juice matters.
You could tell it mattersto our coach, at least.
He's pretty smart, and he's like,"we need some juice here."
I know it matters when our guysdon't have juice in coaching.
It's a-… big downer.
But you're saying it could've beenin Tasmania, it's just that the NFL's
opening, they'd be excited no matter what.
And you're probably mostlyright about that part.
I just…
(41:14):
I wonder if they could use someof this, some of this theater
to really crank it up that extranotch, but maybe I'm wrong.
I could be wrong.
Clinton (41:24):
It's gonna be f- it'll
be fun regardless, for sure.
And I do see that we got, Maximusasking what we think about, you know, NFL.
Some folks are sayingtwo score difference.
Say, "Just hold on."
So if you're watching this, we're gonnaget to our predictions in just a bit.
We wanted to- Yeah
just make sure that y'all knew that.
Two score
Phil (41:37):
difference.
Clinton (41:37):
Yeah.
Phil (41:38):
Okay, so we
already did a previously.
We've gone through all of ourcategories, so those are gone.
We are gonna go to our From the Flocksection where they get to make wishes.
What if Super Hawks, or reallyit's just become things to wish.
I'm gonna do something different, and we're gonna get to Brandan and
Clinton's wish here in a moment.
This is unique.
Notice the date.
Can you guys see thedate at the top there?
(41:59):
This is from Discord.
Yes.
At the top of the list.
Brandan, what's it say?
Brandan (42:04):
Ooh, I don't see the date.
Phil (42:05):
It's January-
January… January 31st.
Brandan (42:09):
Oh, 2026.
Phil (42:10):
26.
We had a couple amazingpredictions to end off the season.
Look at this right here.
Clinton (42:16):
Nice.
Phil (42:17):
Notice what The
Spy Who Spooned Me said.
"My wish, Seattle's D gets twoturnovers and five sacks, sending
the ba- Pats back to the cold whitenorth to shovel their dryways and
think about their transgressions."
We got three turnovers and sixsacks, but that was the such a key.
Love it.
And the 12 Man Records wishfor six sacks came true.
(42:38):
Wow.
So those are, those are little thing thathappened, early on in the year that
took place, so sometimes we're smelling, some good things that take place.
Now we will get to our wishesfor this particular game.
The date moves to September.
DeHooman, that's Josh.
He wishes Price has 100plus yards and a touchdown.
Some guy named Phil Hawk, sounds like a genius.
(42:58):
He wants Jamai to go six for six on PATs.
That'd be a great wish to have come true.
Clinton (43:03):
Mm.
Phil (43:04):
I like to touch my bobo,
a convincing Hawks victory and all 53
remain healthy and a Lambs-Whiners tie.
So we got three wishes there.
I would be fine with that.
J- JSN Jiggy with it, asalways, a Minotaur sack and 100 plus
yards and a touchdown from my baby JSN.
(43:25):
We could see that.
Godzera Hawk, running backs accountfor 150 yards plus from scrimmage
defense with two takeaways.
Rising Hawkra, Price, The 8-Ball, asZable calls him, rushes for over 150
yards and three touchdowns as the defensepitches a shutout against the Cheatriots.
Well, this sounds like acrushing dominant play.
(43:46):
Mm-hmm.
Amy, we see Jay's special teams unitlook like it deserves another year.
Okay, so that means she'swishing this for the whole year.
I'm fine with that.
12 Man Records, a great time withy'all, little Flockers, in Se- Seattle
watching our Sea Hawkers raise thebanner and bring home the win live.
Car Car, 100-yard game for, notCanine, she crossed it out, and Price.
(44:08):
That's what she always wishes for.
Start our rushing game strong.
Two new ones.
Oh, no.
Our second and third cornerbacksshow out, at least one pick from
a cornerback not named Spoon.
Hmm.
Bunny, sorry Aussie 12s, but sacrificeshave to be made for the greater good.
Bunny wishes Australiasinks into the sea, taking-
the Lambs and Whiners with it.
Man, this is violent here today.
Brandan (44:30):
I, I could,
I'll plus-one that wish.
Phil (44:32):
Okay.
It's all play around violent.
Nate Shirts wishes thatSpoon gets a pick and a sack.
What stands out to you on these, Clinton?
Clinton (44:41):
Oh, lots of Price love, right?
So I think that's thething that stands out- Yeah
is that there's lots of- I think a-as a collective organization, a desire
to take a deep breath and be like,"Hey, K9 at 14 million, just we…"
It was, even if you wanna argue, 'causeI still could- Yeah… that, you
you could have retained the guy, buthey, we spent the first round pick, and
(45:02):
if we see Price look the part and feelthe part and do the thing, I think
there'll be a big, like, "Phew, okay- Yeah
we got, we got another guy that could be,be really a, a, a Super Bowl MVP-type
dude," which obviously K9 was for us.
Phil (45:16):
And Brandan, when you go
to Lumen, are you gonna make sure
you stop in at the little Flock orWishing Well that you see there in
the- Oh, do we have a-… in the
Brandan (45:22):
graphic?
Yeah.
Is this…
When did we get that installed?
That's nice… which, whichcorner of the stadium is that exactly?
I mean, we got the- It must have
Phil (45:28):
been something they put in.
Yeah.
It must have beensomething they, you know
Clinton (45:31):
obviously featured-
That's like a Harry Potter thing.
You have to walk through a brickwall and it's there, though.
It's there.
Don't worry.
It's, it's
Phil (45:36):
really- That-
Clinton (45:36):
It's
Brandan (45:36):
very real I'm, I'm gonna
be going to look for it, Phil- Yes
… because, yeah, it, it is, yeah.
I love that thing.
It's great.
That was very, a very niceaddition to this off-season.
Phil (45:45):
That's awesome.
They even
Brandan (45:45):
spelled wish with all the-
And look, I am kidding about Australia.
I, I, I love our Australian Flock.
Phil (45:49):
Yes.
Thank you.
Of course.
It was nice they put all thelittle periods in between the
wishes, like they totally gotwhat the, what it was all about.
Maybe it was our new owners thatrealized how important these wishes are.
Brandan, which
Brandan (45:59):
one of these- They were,
they were listening to past episodes
of What If the entire off-season.
They're like, "You know what?
In, in honor of Mr.
Phil and the Protector, th- thiswishing well will be installed."
Phil (46:07):
I love it.
Okay.
Brandan, did you have a wishhere that w- that yous- thought
stood out besides Bunny's?
Brandan (46:13):
Jason Myers, clearly.
Like- Mm… it, I just wannasee him perfect, in, in
week one, day one of the season.
Phil (46:22):
Okay.
That's it.
That, that would be, thatwould, help us all breathe a
little bit easier, would it not?
Okay, we are gonna go to y'all's wishes.
Brandan goes first becauseit's week one, game one.
Brandan, I'm gonna write it down, your what if SuperHawk for game one.
Brandan (46:38):
Yeah.
I'm tempted to go with the Jason Myersone after seeing that, but, the
one that I had planned to talk aboutwas, our, our linebacker, Tyrese
Knight, with the expectationthat Nick Emmanwori, even if he plays
I think it would be reduced snaps.
But, I think having Tyrice Knightout there, and the way that he, he showed
out in the pre-season has me a little bithyped for Tyrice Knight, who, probably
(47:03):
not a huge contribution in the SuperBowl, if I am remembering back correctly.
And, and so I'm gonna go, fourtackles for Tyrice Knight and him to
kick off the season, on the, on theplus side of the ledger for tackles.
Phil (47:20):
All right.
I think, was it Mookie that was kinda-Getting you excited about Knight for this
game or has this been all on your own?
Brandan (47:28):
No, this was all since seeing
him w- that, game one and, yeah, it
was only one tackle that he had playingagainst the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
So I, just seeing him in the preseasonand then the way that they, they
they're like, "Okay, we're good on Knight.
We don't need to see him anymorethroughout the preseason."
Yeah, for sure.
That was the thing that kind of gotme a little bit excited that maybe
(47:50):
they had some big plans for TyreseKnight- Yeah… come week one.
Phil (47:54):
Maybe a little pass
rushing would be cool too.
Clinton, how about you?
Yeah.
Your what if super hawk for week one.
Clinton (47:59):
Yeah, for sure.
And we got some greatcontributions live here as well.
This one from Charlie's Cool saying,Arroyo, you know, six catches, 80
yards, that'd be a monster day for him.
look, I'm gonna start where,I'm gonna finish where I started.
I think Cooper Kupp has, has a nice day.
And so let's quantify that a little bit.
I'm not, and I'm not saying it'sa whatever year that was, 1900
(48:19):
yard Cooper Kupp day, but what I'msaying is 40 yards and a touchdown.
40 plus yards receivingand a touchdown for Mr.
Cooper Kupp, and that'll bea very, very healthy day.
I, I, how many, h- howevermany receptions, maybe three, four
five, something like that, but bigcontribution But maybe a big key
(48:40):
third down throw in there too- Yeah
guys.
But, yeah, just Kupp to have,Kupp to just keep on doing Kupp
things and being super, super usefulfor this team, because he sure is.
Phil (48:50):
Yeah.
And even if he doesn't get stats,he's always useful in all the
tips he gives everybody, for sure.
so Clinton has Kupp for40 yards and a touchdown.
Brandan's going for TyreseKnight, at least four tackles.
Now we're gonna predict the score.
People have been lookingforward to this moment.
Brandan is usually right, so, butwe're still gonna have you go first.
What's gonna happen, Brandan?
Brandan (49:09):
All right.
I am going…
My, my thought with this is thatthe defense this off-season has been
thinking about, they got intothe fourth quarter with a shutout.
Mm.
They weren't able to close it out.
I don't necessarily think that they'llbe able to, to pull off a shutout
week one- Yeah… but I, Ithink they're gonna try awfully hard.
(49:32):
And so I think they go under on thescore from last year, and, I
think the Seahawks go a little bitunder, so I'm gonna go 27 to 10
for our Seahawks in week one.
Phil (49:44):
27-10 in two nights.
You guys'll be there to see it.
Clinton, what are you looking, what are you expecting here
for this week one match up?
Clinton (49:52):
Yeah, and that's
the exact right word.
so it, when, when you do nailit, I'm gonna, I'm gonna call it out.
Or when I don't change it,Phil, I'll call it out.
So what I expect, it goes back to what Isaid earlier, is like, "Hey, look, Kubiak
week one," and Mike witnessed that andFleury witnessed that, and they're, and
I'm telling you that Mike is like, "We arenot starting the season like that, Fleury.
(50:13):
We're not doing it."
So I actually expect a pretty goodoffensive, you know, smoothness
to this team- Mm… out of the gate.
Doesn't mean first quarter- Yeah… firstdrive, but I mean it feels right by
halftime and, and it continues throughoutthe game, and we put the game away.
I think we put up 30.
I think the Patriots hang in alittle bit, but 30 to 17, and we
(50:36):
win this ballgame, and we walk outof there being like- Dudes, ladies
gentlemen, we look darn good again.
And the, and that Fleury offense, Phil, to maybe land the
plane here, it flourishes.
Phil (50:48):
It flourishes.
I like that a lot.
Yes, you guys both have uswinning by at least two.
Brandan has us winning by three scores.
It seemed like a lot morewhen you said 30- Why, why
Brandan (50:55):
you gotta be
so negative, Clinton?
Yeah.
Why, why are
Clinton (50:59):
we only winning by 13?
Because at some point we're gonna putsome other dudes in, 'cause we're up 30
to 10, and they're gonna score a stupidlate touchdown, and I'm not gonna care.
Phil (51:07):
And then on your score,
Clinton, Myers does make that
field goal, and Brandan, who wantedMyers to make it, missed it.
It just seemed like 30 was a lot more than27 that I looked at, and it's like it's
just really a difference of a ball hookingone way or the other is all that is.
But 30 versus 27 is, is
Clinton (51:23):
somehow sounds like more.
Well, o- one little fun pointthough, like if you're getting to
30 most naturally, you're talkingthree touchdowns, three field goals.
That's the most natural way to 30.
Yeah.
I would like that day, 'cause I,I'm a little worried about Jason
Myers, and I would love for him to gothree for three as we, you know
Brandan (51:39):
get- I don't know.
W- opening, safety for thetwo points and then four straight
touchdowns is a nice way to 32.
Clinton (51:45):
I- I'll take it.
Any way we get there I do like that.
And by the way, if that happens, the crowd will, the vibes will be
right, Brandan, and you would've won.
Phil (51:53):
Clinton is b- Clinton
gets the negative award out of this
particular show for some reason today.
He-
Clinton (51:58):
Great.
I'll take it.
I don't care.
I'm gonna be there.
I'm gonna be so ha- I'm so happy.
We, oh, so, I, we had our Yukonreunion show this Saturday, so
like mentally I practiced for it.
My band plays.
We played, like, 30-something songs.
Packed out.
There was a, a pub crawl.
I don't know, a couplehundred people there.
It was awesome.
And like 40 or 50 people that Igraduated with, also there.
Beautiful time.
(52:19):
But I had to get through that, guys.
And then, my wife's openinga fitness studio, so I'm down
there painting the studio.
And like now I'm…
And Brandan, I'm actually, Phil,I'm actually like this, this was
like my, "Holy crap, I get ona plane tomorrow morning- Yeah
and I get to go to Seattleas a 48-year-old man child.
I get to go cheer for my NFL teamfrom Connecticut to Seattle."
(52:39):
And the gratefulness is, is, is…
it's abundant, Phil, to
Phil (52:44):
Okay
… Clinton (52:44):
harken back.
Yeah.
Phil (52:45):
That kind of painting
totally switched my thinking.
My girls are way into artistic painting.
They go outside, play music.
And the whole time you've beentalking about, "I've been painting,"
I'm thinking, "Oh, that's cool.
Clinton on his day off, he's out
Clinton (52:55):
painting."
A building.
I'm painting a buildingis what- Yes… yeah.
Phil (52:58):
So you're not Bob Ross-ing it.
You're actually, you know- Yeah… doing that other kind of painting.
Brandan (53:03):
Correct.
You could Bob Ross thebuilding a little bit though.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Be kind of fun too.
Clinton (53:06):
I, I- Hey, I wanted to bring
this up… tru- trust me, there's
hap- there's happy little mistakeseverywhere on that building, Brandan.
Okay.
I'll tell you that, man.
Tell you that much.
Brandan (53:12):
The, the Charlie the Unicorn
brought up something that I, I think is…
it, it could be a factor.
Really?
The Diana Russini factor.
And I, I don't know if it will be, butAlbert Breer teased the, that there
may be news coming with regard toRussini that, we, we may not have
(53:32):
heard between Vrabel and, and her.
So-
Phil (53:35):
Oh, my
… Brandan (53:36):
would
Phil (53:36):
would- They're gonna
just put it out that night, right?
Brandan (53:38):
Would they put it out Tuesday
night in a similar way that they put
out the Patriots orchestrated the, that, for the news about S- the Seahawks
being sold ahead of the Super Bowl?
Would that be retribution if, Oh, yeah… if something like
that were to- The October surprise
Phil (53:55):
for football.
Clinton (53:56):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Throw this, throw this directlyin the bin of it does not
matter,… for, for me.
And, and, we do not care.
That's yeah… I'mdone with that story, guys.
I mean, like if there's moreto it, I guess so be it.
But I, I just like, you know,I, I don't care about it much.
Do you, Brandan?
Do you, do you think there'ssome juicy- I don't care about
Brandan (54:16):
it.
I'm just saying that, like with theCharlie the Unicorn saying that his spidey
sense is saying that something drops- Igotcha… before the game, I, I have- I
Clinton (54:24):
don't doubt that.
I don't doubt that.
Brandan (54:25):
I have a little
bit of that spidey sense too.
I don't know if it matters, but-Yeah… well, I mean, it doesn't
matter to me personally, but it, itmay, it may have an impact, right, on…
And w- and we're, we're talkingabout vibes in this game.
How, how could that impact the vibesof the locker room of the Patriots
if it's something that's pretty big?
Phil (54:44):
Yeah.
Well, I think Mike McCready's gonnaplay the anthem, and then he's gonna
sign the guitar and go hand it, handit to Diana Russini,… over there
on the sideline to kick off the game.
That's, that's kinda whatI think's gonna happen
Clinton (54:57):
Man, well, fired up.
I cannot wait.
The whole thing's gonna be great, and then, what, you got McCready
doing the national anthem, right?
And then he's joining Soundgardenand the new formed Soundgarden for
halftime, so I'm excited for all that.
The vibes are gonna beimmaculate, Brandan, for sure.
Yeah
Phil (55:09):
no, I can't wait.
You guys better not drink much.
You're gonna have to holdall your pee for this one.
Clinton (55:13):
I know, right?
There is no halftime.
There's only, only Soundgarden.
I love it.
Brandan (55:17):
I, I love the fact that, we do have, n- I don't love the
fact that it's Soundgarden without ChrisCornell, because I, I, the one time that
I've seen Soundgarden play live was atthe opener, that S- Last time we
Phil (55:30):
won
… Brandan (55:31):
the last time we won-
Mm-hmm… when they opened, Pharrell.
he played, the, Soundgardenplayed right before Pharrell-
Yeah… in that north parking lot.
And man, oh man, I, I am a huge fan ofSoundgarden and Chris Cornell, and so
I, I'm glad that they found a wayto get the rest of those guys involved
and, and then the, the singer, who's, Yeah, she's got pipes.
Clinton (55:52):
She
Brandan (55:52):
can really
Phil (55:52):
sing.
Well, if McCready's there andSoundgarden's there- Mm-hmm… why
doesn't Eddie make a surprise- Eddie Vanthere… and they just do Hunger Strike?
Clinton (55:59):
Do a little Hunger Strike.
Yeah.
I don't mind it.
I don't mind it.
I like that mixup.
I wouldn't mind it either.
Yeah
Phil (56:04):
I like that, though.
Nobody
Clinton (56:04):
would mind it, probably, yeah.
I like that.
That'd be fun.
Brandan (56:07):
Well, it's gonna be a fun time.
I can't wait to,to, yeah, I'm what?
We're almost 24 hours awayfrom seeing each other in
in, live in person, Clinton.
Clinton (56:17):
I know, I know.
I'm, it's gonna be fantastic, guys.
It's, hey, it's why we do allthis, and then, and you know
very often you're like, "Oh, thatwas the longest off season ever."
I don't know, m- my life has beenzipping, and I, and it's good.
Not this one.
I feel this went pretty quick, Iguess, because when you win the
Super Bowl, guys, and by the way,the Rams didn't win the Super Bowl.
We actually won the Super Bowl, but watch60 Minutes tonight for some garbage.
(56:37):
But you know, when you win the SuperBowl and the draft is like, it just
hits you right away because you havevery little time to prepare for the
draft, and the summer's zooming by,and kids are off in college, and
Brandan, you're going to France, andPhil, you're doing everything you do.
Man, it goes fast, but what a frigging joyit is to be Seahawks fans, part of this
part of this, 12s, Flockers, and we get torun it forward starting on Wednesday night
(57:00):
because we are the champions, my friends.
Brandan (57:03):
And I think with that-
Clinton (57:05):
There's only
one thing left to say.
Phil (57:06):
Go Hawks
Clinton (57:08):
Go Hawks.
Go
Phil (57:09):
Hawks.
Keep it green.
