The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired goaltender Edward Pasquale from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for future considerations, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced Wednesday. Pasquale, 27, has appeared in 16 games with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League this season, compiling a record of 6-5-4 to go along with a 2.60 goals-against average and .910 save percentage. He leads the Condors for goals-against average and save percentage. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound goaltender has played in 211 career AHL games over seven seasons with the Condors, Grand Rapids Griffins, St. John's IceCaps and Chicago Wolves, posting a record of 100-83-10 to go along with a 2.60 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and 15 shutouts. Pasquale set a career high for wins with 23 while with the IceCaps during the 2011-12 season.Forward Jaromir Jagrcleared NHL waivers and was assigned by the Calgary Flames to Kladno in the Czech Republic on Monday. Jagr, 45, had seven points (one goal, six assists) with the Flames but missed 27 games with a lower-body injury; he last played Dec. 31. "I want to thank [general manager] Brad Treliving and the Calgary Flames for giving me the immense opportunity to be a part of their team and continue my NHL career this season," Jagr said. "Although I am very disappointed that things did not turn out as we had hoped due to a number of circumstances, I am deeply grateful to the Flames, the fans and the city of Calgary for having welcomed me so generously. I now look forward to continuing the season in Kladno." Jagr played 1,733 NHL games, including 22 this season, his first with the Flames. He signed a one-year, $1 million contract Oct. 4 as an unrestricted free agent. Kladno is Jagr's hometown, and he has been the majority owner of the team since 2011. Jagr trails Gordie Howe (1,767) by 34 games for first in NHL history; Mark Messier is second (1,756). Injuries:
Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnonis expected to be out 2-4 weeks with an upper-body injury, coach Jared Bednar said Thursday. MacKinnon was injured during the second period of a 4-3 overtime loss at the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. He grabbed his shoulder and exited to the locker room with 6:04 remaining after colliding with Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler. MacKinnon had an assist and was plus-2 before leaving. The 22-year-old is second in the NHL with 61 points (24 goals, 37 assists) in 49 games, trailing Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, who has 64 points (27 goals, 37 assists) in 50 games. MacKinnon represented the Avalanche at the 2018 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Sunday. Pittsburgh Penguins forward Conor Shearyis week to week with a lower-body injury. The 25-year-old, who has been on Pittsburgh's top line with Sidney Crosby and Dominik Simon, played 12:06 before leaving a 5-2 win against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. Sheary has 21 points (12 goals, nine assists) in 51 games this season after getting 53 points (23 goals, 30 assists) in 61 games last season. Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Troubais expected to miss 6-8 weeks because of a lower-body injury. Trouba, 23, was injured near the end of a 4-3 overtime loss against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. He had an assist and played a team-high 27:05. In 50 games, Trouba has 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) and a plus-6 rating. He is second on the Jets in average ice time (22:09) and the Jets have controlled 51.05 percent of all 5-on-5 shots attempted with Trouba on the ice. He has 125 points (34 goals, 91 assists) in five NHL seasons, all with the Jets. Buffalo Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosianwill have hip surgery next week and miss the rest of the season. The procedure has a recovery time of 4-6 months. Bogosian, 27, will remain on injured reserve and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp next season. Bobby Ryanwill not play for the Ottawa Senators against the Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens this weekend after injuring his hand in a 2-1 overtime win against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. Ryan has 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 39 games this season. The 30-year-old has missed 10 games this season because of hand injuries: eight games from Oct. 24 to Nov. 11 because of a broken right index finger, and games on Dec. 21 and Jan. 9 after that injury was aggravated. New York Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevichis out indefinitely with an upper-body injury. Buchnevich was injured on a hit by Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Gardiner during the second period of a 4-0 loss at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. Buchnevich did not practice Friday. Buchnevich, 22, has 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) in 50 games this season with the Rangers, who selected him in the third round (No. 75) of the 2013 NHL Draft. Edmonton Oilers defenseman Adam Larsson will be out indefinitely after his father died Friday. Robert Larsson, 50, was in Edmonton visiting from Sweden and had a heart attack Jan. 25. Adam Larsson left the morning skate prior to a 4-3 shootout win against the Calgary Flames that day. He missed that game and did not play in a 4-3 overtime loss against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. Robert Larsson was a defenseman for Skelleftea AIK in Sweden from 1985-96. He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round (No. 112) of the 1988 NHL Draft but never played in the NHL. Victor Hedman is back? New Jersey Devils forward Taylor Hallhas been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for boarding Buffalo Sabres forward Kyle Okposo during NHL Game No. 762 in Buffalo on Tuesday, Jan. 30, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday. The incident occurred at 7:40 of the first period. Hall was assessed a minor penalty for boarding. Buffalo Sabres forward Johan Larsson has been suspended for two games, without pay, for cross-checking Florida Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck during NHL Game No. 777 in Buffalo on Thursday, Feb. 1, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today. The incident occurred at 19:25 of the third period. Larsson was assessed a major and match penalty for cross-checking. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Larsson will forfeit $15,860.22. Other Interesting Stories:
With 27 seconds remaning in the Carolina Hurricanes victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, they struck up the old band. The public address system blared a favorite from the franchise's past: "Brass Bonanza." The iconic team song from the days of the Hartford Whalers, the Hurricanes idendity before their 1997 move, delighted the crowd and announcers John Forslund and Tripp Tracy. The move to blare "Brass Bonanza" comes on the heels of new owner Tom Dundon talking about how he wanted to embrace the legacy of the Whalers. As usual, there were some classic Whalers jerseys on the backs of some of the fans in attendance. Dundon officially became the Hurricanes majority owner back on Jan. 11. More Fake news out of Canada… This week, the Montreal media asked Hurricanes coach Bill Peters about the "trade rumors" surrounding goaltender Cam Ward. Peters said he knew nothing about them and laughed them off. "He's here, he's been here his whole career," Peters said after the morning skate prior to the Hurricanes hosting the Canadiens at PNC Arena on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; FS-SE, TSN2, RDS, NHL.TV). "He's played well for us. He's 14-6-2. I think that's a bad rumor. That makes me laugh a little. We're trying to make a push. I want to add [players]. Start that rumor. Mike Fishertook the first step to returning as an active NHL player Wednesday when the center was on the ice at Bridgestone Arena with the intent of signing a contract and returning to the Nashville Predators before the NHL Trade Deadline on Feb. 26. Fisher, 37, played the past seven seasons with the Predators and was Nashville's captain last season, when they made their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Final, losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games. After Fisher skated, he appeared at a news conference to announce his plans, along with Predators general manager David Poile and coach Peter Laviolette. "I'm all in," Fisher said. "I believe this team is built to win. We have a very good chance. So that is part of the reason why I want to come back and compete and be a part of it. We didn't win last year and it was the best time of my career. The final decision to return apparently was made over the weekend. Fisher has been skating on his own but there is no timetable for his return to the lineup. Fisher's most recent NHL game was Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on June 11, and he realizes it is going to take time to get in game shape. "I met with the players this morning for a few minutes and they're all over the top about Mike coming back," Poile said. "This is a huge day." "The good people in Seattle who are in pursuit potentially of an expansion franchise have told us that they are working on an expansion application and anticipate being ready to file in the not too distant future," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said during his press conference prior to the 2018 GEICO NHL All-Star Skills Competition at Amalie Arena on Saturday. A group led by Jerry Bruckheimer, a Hollywood producer, and David Bonderman, a private equity CEO, were authorized to file an application for expansion by the NHL Board of Governors on Dec. 7. The cost of the team would be $650 million, and Commissioner Bettman said the NHL is looking at only Seattle for possible expansion. The earliest the team could begin playing is the 2020-21 NHL season, when it's expected the renovated arena in Seattle would be ready. "The timetable in terms of filing an expansion application, doing a season-ticket drive, is largely up to them," Commissioner Bettman said. "We can respond to the extent that we're getting the information on a timely basis, whatever that timetable is, so we can go through the processes that we have to. https://www.nhl.com/news/seattle-ownership-group-expected-to-file-expansion-application-soon/c-295358106Commissioner Bettman said a group, featuring members of NHL Hockey Operations, officials, coaches and general managers who are here, met Saturday to discuss the goaltender interference rule and reviews in an effort to crystalize the process. He said the goalie interference rule and review has created a bit of confusion and added that he thinks it's gotten to the point where everybody is overthinking the review. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly, who was in the meeting about goalie interference, said the people in the room were given a refresher on the language of the rule and its intention. That refresher will be given to every NHL official. The NHL will play regular-season games in Sweden and Finland, and preseason games in China next season, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said Saturday. The Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils will open their 2018-19 NHL regular season in Sweden. Each team also will play a preseason game in Europe. The Devils will play in Switzerland, the home country of center Nico Hischier, the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. The Oilers will play in Germany, the home country of center Leon Draisaitl. The cities and dates for the preseason games have yet to be finalized. The Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets will play two regular-season games in Finland in early November, in a continuation of the NHL Global Series. Florida forward Aleksander Barkov and Winnipeg forward Patrik Laine are two of the most well-known Finland-born players in the NHL. The 2017 SAP NHL Global Series games were played in Stockholm on Nov. 10 and 11. The Ottawa Senators won each game, defeating the Colorado Avalanche. The NHL will return to China for preseason games, repeating the trip made this September for the 2017 NHL China Games presented by O.R.G. Packaging. The teams, dates and cities have yet to be finalized for the 2018 games. The Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks played two preseason games, one in Beijing and one in Shanghai, last September. The Kings won each game. The National Hockey League Saturday announced the selection of the San Jose Sharks, SAP Center and the city of San Jose as hosts of the 2019 National Hockey League All-Star Weekend. The League's mid-season showcase will take place Jan. 25-27, 2019, and will include the NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday, Jan. 26 and the NHL All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 27.

The Vegas Golden Knights set a record for most wins by an NHL team in its inaugural season with a 3-2 overtime victory against the Winnipeg Jets at Bell MTS Place on Thursday. David Perron scored with 1:03 remaining to give Vegas its 34th win, eclipsing the previous mark set by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (33-46-5) and the Florida Panthers (33-34-17) in 1993-94, when NHL games still could end in a tie. Nine of Vegas' wins have come in overtime or the shootout. Kyle Connor scored for the Jets with 2:36 remaining in the third period to tie the game 2-2. Malkin led the NHL with 12 goals and ranked second with 19 points in 12 games (12-7-19) to lift the Penguins (28-21-3, 59 points) to a 9-3-0 January and second place in the Metropolitan Division. Bergeron ranked second in the NHL with nine goals and fourth with 17 points in 11 games (9-8-17) to guide the Bruins (29-11-8, 66 points) to an 8-1-2 January and within five points of first place in the overall League standings. Bernier posted a League-high eight wins, compiling a 2.10 goals-against average, .939 save percentage and one shutout in 11 games to propel the Avalanche (27-18-4, 58 points) to an 8-2-1 January. New York Islanders center Mathew Barzal, who led all rookies with 12 assists and 15 points in 13 games (3-12-15), has been named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for January. Barzal edged Tampa Bay Lightning center Yanni Gourde (6-2-8 in 12 GP), Islanders teammate Ryan Pulock (2-6-8 in 13 GP), Pittsburgh Penguins center Dominik Simon (4-3-7 in 11 GP) and Chicago Blackhawks right wing Alex DeBrincat (4-3-7 in 12 GP) for the honor. Barzal registered at least one point in eight of his 13 January appearances, highlighted by 2-3-5 Jan. 13 at NYR - his second five-point performance of the season (also Nov. 5 vs. COL: 0-5-5).Vancouver Canucks right wing Brock Boeser, Buffalo Sabres center Jack Eichel and Buffalo Sabres goaltender Robin Lehner have been named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week ending Jan. 28. Boeser earned MVP honors at Sunday's 2018 Honda NHL All-Star Game, won Saturday's Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting competition and also scored two goals in two contests earlier in the week with the Canucks (19-24-6, 44 points). Eichel led the NHL with 2-3-5 in three outings to power the Sabres (14-26-9, 37 points) to a perfect week. Lehner registered shutouts in each of his two appearances, stopping all 63 shots he faced to help the Sabres complete their first three-game winning streak since Feb. 14-18, 2017 (3-0-0).
