Tressie McMillan Cottom (@tressiemcphd), assistant professor of sociology at Virginia Commonwealth University, joins us to discuss her book, 'Lower Ed: The Troubling Rise of For-Profit Colleges in the New Economy.' With the rise of neoliberalism came the "education gospel," which claimed workers could, and should, raise their wages by getting four-year college degrees at their own expense.
