At five oh four, police say they have cuffed the
gunman wanted in a shooting in the Bronx on Saturday
took the life of a twelve year old boy who
was in the wrong plaze at the wrong time. Jacob
Fretis was hit and killed by a stray bullet forty
five year old William Ferrer. He was taken into custody
outside of his home in the Bronx yesterday. He's facing

several charges, including murder in the second degree. So Jacob.
This twelve year old was riding his bike to a
local bodega in the Mountain Eden's section of the Bronx
Saturday to buy a ball when a bullet meant for
somebody else hit him. A fight had broken out outside
the bodega. Someone had pulled out a gun started firing

and one of those bullets hit the twelve year old.
His neighbors well, their heartbroken.

up on his bicycle on the sidewalk right next to
the fight. And then more video that we saw last
night chose the boy running inside the bodega pass a
deli worker and a customer while holding his chest or
arm before he just collapses.

and neighbors left condolences for freightes. Some of his favorite
things were surrounded by memorial candles and expressions of love.
WABC News Time five h nine. Let's go out to
Seattle where there was a street fair going on yesterday.
Two people gunman started firing at each other and in

the process they killed three people injured four others. It
was right out Seattle's right outside of Seattle's Space Needle,
as was last night.

One of the victims at Harvard and Medical Center did
not survive their injury. So now we have a total
of free fatalities out of those seven victims.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Yeah, so shots rang out during what's called the Bite
of Seattle Festival. The youngest of the victims is two
years old. No word on his condition. The Seattle mayor,
her name is Katie Wilson. She says a gunman was
taken into custody and they're still looking for a second one.

Officers responded and addressed one of the shooters. That person
gave up and was taken into custody. There was another
person that we believe that was also involved that fled
the scene, and officers began an active search for that person.

So this is what we got from the Seattle Police
Department this morning. They say the incident appears to be
an exchange of gunfire between two individuals rather than a
premeditated attack targeting festival attendees. And they say nobody's in danger.

They don't tell us why that is, because they say
one of the gunmen still on the loose this morning
five ten.

So just the news, just awful this morning. But this
is what we're doing.

Eight dead a Mi Chigan house fire that authorities are
calling suspicious.

In fact, they say it was suspicious.

Captain Jake Sparks with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says
six children, two adults, all of the same family, found
dead inside a home that caught fire in the town
of Grand Haven.

This was Friday into Saturday.

It's too early for me to say that it's a
murder suicide. I can tell you that that's one theory
that we have and we're still looking to see if
that if we can verify that.

And yet it sure looks like a murder suicide because
the sheriff's officers, some of the victims had gunshot wounds.
The cause of the fire that were still trying to
figure that out.

We're being assisted by the Michigan State Police are some
investigators to see if it was intentionally set. We don't
have cause of debt at this point.

I don't have one hundred percent identification at this point.
I can tell you that two adults and six children
are deceased, were pending further investigation and full autopsy results.

stages of sorting it all out. Five to eleven, let's
go out to southern California where a synagogue that was
destroyed in the Eaten Fire back in twenty twenty five
has been vandalized for the second time in a year.

Anti Semitic graffiti found written on a mural at the
Pasadena Jewish Temple and Centers had just been painted by
children a couple months back. The mural had been created
in response to an earlier graffiti incident the same synagogue
back in January.

terms of that deal midway through.

I mean, it just shows you cannot rely on the

deal that allows the Kingdom to use American technology to
build nuclear reactors. However, the President says the final approval

this deal no different than what the Biden administration wanted,
but it fell apart after the October seventh attacks.

Again now, President Trump highlighting the importance of holding the

for two women suspected of killing a man in a
road rad attack that took place in Queens. This was
about one am Sunday morning on the belt Parkway right

all over the blaze.

I saw a lot of traffic and all the traffic
was coming on to the conduit.

So what police are telling us is it started off
as a fender brander, then escalated into a dispute. That's
when the two women apparently beat forty seven year old
Crusaine Dockery repeatedly on the head with a baseball bat.
He was taken to the hospital where he passed away
early Sunday.

Organizers accused the mayor of supporting groups and individuals who

year old wife Grace was killed during the terror attack
at Ground Zero. A spokesperson for City Hall says Mam
Donni still plans to attend the ceremony to stand with
the victims and that taking place as it was maybe
a long weekend for the mayor. Neighbors on the Upper
West Side voicing their anger during a rally yesterday that

was organized after the stabbings of a Jewish man and
an Asian man, as the suspect there faces hate crime chargers.
Several speakers at this rally said the mayor bears responsibility,
pointing to him, saying that he has been over the
top with his accusations against bb Netagnauhu in Israel, and
they say that's what led to the stabbing in Central

Park last week. Now. Among the speakers yesterday were Republican
Goober innatorial nominee and Nassau County executive Bruce Blakeman.

There has been a darkness that is permeated over this
city since January first, a darkness by the leadership, by
the lack of leadership.

Dobby now mom Donna, who was taking part in the
parade yesterday, he again was asked about these stabbings.

He again condemned them.

I think when it comes to the horrific stabbings on
the Upper West Side, my thoughts first and foremost are
with both the Asian New Yorker and the Jewish New
Yorker who were stabbed. I'm thankful that they are in
a stable condition and I'm wishing them a full and
speedy recovery. And I'm also thankful to the NYPD for
their quick and swift response to both apprehending the alleged perpetrator,
Earld Morales. And now I've seen the charges that have

been levied against him of attempted murder and a hate crime,
and I'm hopeful that he'll be prosecuted for full extat alogue.

And now some one reporter at the scene said, you know,
I got a follow up question. You know, the Jewish
community is not really happy with you right now.

What do you think about that?

How do you say Jeish New Yorkers who feel you're
fueling anti Semitism.

But I would say, first and foremost is there's no
tolerance for anti Semitism in this city. We have to
root out anti Semitism from across the five boroughs. And
that's because this is a city that is one that
has no room for hate or bigotry of any kind.
And when we make criticisms of a nation state, or policies.
We have to remember that those are criticisms of exactly that,
never of a people, never of a faith.

Then you had Israeli Prime Minister BB Netanyah, who was
going to be here for meeting that the White House
tomorrow with the President about the war in Iran, and
he was asked about Mayor mom Donnie and he says
that Mayor mom Donnie has been fomenting hate. This is
with him going, you know, the mayor's gone strong after
bb netanyahuo claiming that he wanted to arrest him until

he realized that he wasn't able to do so. Here
was Netaunyah, who speaking about this yesterday.

He's supposed to be the mayor of all New Yorkers, Jews, Christians, Muslims, everyone,
but he's trying to learn in one group against the other,
and he's foisting hate and fear. I speak to Jewish
Americans in New York and they're afraid right now. And
I don't think it's accidental that after he made this
hate speech against Israel and against me, the next day

a Jewish stabbed coming out of a synagogue.

The Prime Minister says, by the way that he intends
to attend the UN General Assembly in New York. That's
when the mayor wanted to have him arrested. He says,

every year in my Prime ministership unless there are security conditions,
but barring that, and I don't expect that to be

W ABC WABC News Time forty nine. That's got to
Long Island where they continue to have these problems with
illegal street takeovers where a bunch of people on ATVs,
dirt bikes, motorcycles just takeover entire highways. Well over the weekend,
three people arrested, ten vehicles impounded after the suffer County
(30:17):
Police started cracking down on some of these illegal street
takeovers and estimated two hundred ATVs, dirt bikes and motorcycles.
They stretched across several Suffa communities.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
That's how big these things are.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
They did get nine to one one calls the police did.
This was about four point thirty in the afternoon on Saturday,
about riders doing stunts and driving recklessly around Route thirty
three forty seven and hop hoogs.

I think you know it's getting out of hand. I
think this should be a park somewhere.
Speaker 20 (30:46):
If they want to drive dirt bikes a four wheels,
they should be driving it there and not on the
public streets.

Well, yeah, when officers responded, they arrested two riders, impounded
several vehicles before the group dispersed, and then they regrouped
this group near the Motor Parkway and Express Drive in Brentwood.
And they're still a couple hundred of these guys on
the roadway about six thirty Saturday night. Definitely get them
loft the street and they're not worrying about the people, children, pets,

everything that's out there.

Thinks so horrible.

Yeah, So as the group traveled through Base Shore, police
say two ATVs became disabled, the riders abandoned those vehicles
fled on foot. One of those riders, a twenty two
year old, apprehended after officers allegedly discovered he was also
carrying a loaded handgun.

Wasn't that nice?

And I see him in my neighborhood and I see
him in other neighborhoods driving through different towns. Stangers for
both the people and the drivers.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
Yeah, and you know, the middle of the day makes
it even worse. Not that it's good anytime the day.
They police arrested a twenty three year old and a
twenty nine year old over the weekend Both are charged
with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, a whole bunch of other charges.
It was just last Friday that nine people were arrested
twelve vehicles impounded following an illegal racing and street takeover
(32:01):
event that took place in Farmingdale five forty one. Let's
go up to Orange County where there was just kind
of a crazy moment over the weekend. So they had
the circus in town at the Orange County Fair and
they were doing one of these performances under the big
tent with arrows, bow and arrows, something they've done I
guess probably hundreds, maybe thousands of times before. It is
(32:24):
this crew of performers from Wisconsin. I think they're a
husband and wife team. Not one hundred percent positive about that,
but this is the thing where they fire arrows sort
of in each other's direction and they do kind of
funky stuff with those arrows. One of the arrows did
what it wasn't supposed to do. It sent one of
these performers to the hospital.

Well last night.
Speaker 16 (32:45):
Unfortunately, when she shot the crossbow, it caught him in
his neck. The good news is she caught him right
at the very corner of the neck.
Speaker 6 (32:55):
There was no blood.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
Yeah, so he's okay. But this happened right smack in
the middle of a performance. There's lots of kids there.
So the ring master said, he said, well, I better
get everybody out of here while the paramedics com in.
Speaker 16 (33:06):
Once that happen and we realize we can't go on
with the show, we just told everyone we need them
to exit the Big Time because we had.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
The paramedics comment yeah, So audience were ushered out of
the tent. Paramedics rushed into administer aid. They were able
to surgically remove the arrow from this guy's next neck.
The Circus of releasing a statement this morning saying that
the performer cuevor Wrangel is in stable condition and they're
grateful for the support he received on the scene. And
(33:37):
they say he's expected to be released soon, and he says, yeah,
I'm going to be back performing under the Big Tent
as soon as.

I get the green light from doctors.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Five fifty three, we are getting more information on this
story that happened at the end of the week in
New Jersey last week where thirteen children became sick after ingesting.
Can't he suspected to contain hallucinogenic mushrooms. This was at
the y camp in East Orange. So one mother speaking
(34:06):
out over the weekend, she says that one of the
kids at the camp brought candy for everybody to share
with everybody. And she says that two of her eleven
year old sons were among the children who ate this
candy and then well got sick.
Speaker 23 (34:22):
Actually received a phone call from my son. He was
crying hysterically. I didn't know what was going on. Then
the AMT got on the phone and they pretty much
told me that my son has ate in a piece
of candy that was infused with the mushroom.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
So counselors at this ycamp, but first they could figure
out what was going on, they observed a child handing
out candy suspected to contain mushrooms. Of course they didn't
know that, and that, of course causes hallucinations and confusion.
They say thirteen children in total were a affected.

That's a lot.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
He had parents who were showing up to pick their
kids up and saying, you know what's going on here.
The counselor is not paying attention, but it seems innocent.
I mean, this kid was just giving candy out. He
had no idea that it was laid.

By my sons.

I was told that the little boy that brung it
in got it as a birthday gift from his family member.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
Yeah, apparently he was just there to share it. Parents
now calling for a thorough investigation. They want to know
what happened, how the candy made its way into camp.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
That is insane.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
The question is more so, how did a child get
a hold of this?
Speaker 23 (35:33):
I mean, I'm pretty sure adults are around, so like,
how did the child get this in their possession? Him
being introduced to this in the camp where I bring
my child to every day, and I feel as though
the camp is supposed to be a safe space.
Speaker 7 (35:46):
This is terrible.

Yes, so what they're being told by the East Orange Polices.
They say their detectives are conducting a thorough investigation to
a term and exactly what occurred. It seems maybe a
family member might have somehow either accidentally or purposely giving
it to this kid to share at camp.

They'll get to the bottom of it.

Doesn't seem like it's something that'll take a lot of investigating.

year old bullets fly at a street fair in Seattle
mayor Mom Donnie feelming the heat from the Jewish community,
a wild scene when a stunt goes wrong at a
local circuit. And wait, what did the kids have at
snack time at a New Jersey y camp? And let
me throw a sixth one in there. Today Sidney Ferris

At five oh four, police say they have cuffed the
gunman wanted in a shooting in the Bronx on Saturday
took the life of a twelve year old boy who
was in the wrong plaze at the wrong time. Jacob
Fretis was hit and killed by a stray bullet forty
five year old William Ferrer. He was taken into custody
outside of his home in the Bronx yesterday. He's facing
(01:50):
several charges, including murder in the second degree. So Jacob.
This twelve year old was riding his bike to a
local bodega in the Mountain Eden's section of the Bronx
Saturday to buy a ball when a bullet meant for
somebody else hit him. A fight had broken out outside
the bodega. Someone had pulled out a gun started firing

and one of those bullets hit the twelve year old.
His neighbors well, their heartbroken.

What's really heartbreaking? He was anything little gay.

Surveillance video shows a group of men engaged.

In a fistfight in the street.

Avenue and Elliott's Place. The boy can be seen coming
up on his bicycle on the sidewalk right next to
the fight. And then more video that we saw last
night chose the boy running inside the bodega pass a
deli worker and a customer while holding his chest or
arm before he just collapses.

He said he was helpful.

She's very helpful, like he will help the old people.

was killed, a twelve year old boy killed just sitting
on a bike outside of a bordego.

Yeah, there was a vigil last night for the Boyfriends
and neighbors left condolences for freightes. Some of his favorite
things were surrounded by memorial candles and expressions of love.
WABC News Time five h nine. Let's go out to
Seattle where there was a street fair going on yesterday.
Two people gunman started firing at each other and in
(03:47):
the process they killed three people injured four others. It
was right out Seattle's right outside of Seattle's Space Needle,
as was last night.
Speaker 10 (03:55):
One of the victims at Harvard and Medical Center did
not survive their injury. So now we have a total
of free fatalities out of those seven victims.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Yeah, so shots rang out during what's called the Bite
of Seattle Festival. The youngest of the victims is two
years old. No word on his condition. The Seattle mayor,
her name is Katie Wilson. She says a gunman was
taken into custody and they're still looking for a second one.
Speaker 10 (04:19):
Officers responded and addressed one of the shooters. That person
gave up and was taken into custody. There was another
person that we believe that was also involved that fled
the scene, and officers began an active search for that person.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
So this is what we got from the Seattle Police
Department this morning. They say the incident appears to be
an exchange of gunfire between two individuals rather than a
premeditated attack targeting festival attendees. And they say nobody's in danger.
Speaker 11 (04:49):
Now.

They don't tell us why that is, because they say
one of the gunmen still on the loose this morning
five ten.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
So just the news, just awful this morning. But this
is what we're doing.

Eight dead a Mi Chigan house fire that authorities are
calling suspicious.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
In fact, they say it was suspicious.

Captain Jake Sparks with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says
six children, two adults, all of the same family, found
dead inside a home that caught fire in the town
of Grand Haven.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
This was Friday into Saturday.
Speaker 12 (05:18):
It's too early for me to say that it's a
murder suicide. I can tell you that that's one theory
that we have and we're still looking to see if
that if we can verify that.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
And yet it sure looks like a murder suicide because
the sheriff's officers, some of the victims had gunshot wounds.
The cause of the fire that were still trying to
figure that out.
Speaker 12 (05:35):
We're being assisted by the Michigan State Police are some
investigators to see if it was intentionally set. We don't
have cause of debt at this point.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
I don't know.

I don't have one hundred percent identification at this point.
I can tell you that two adults and six children
are deceased, were pending further investigation and full autopsy results.

So Captain Jake sparks there with the Ottawa County Sheriff's
office as well. It appears to be a murder scene
or a murder suicide. Say, they're still in the early
stages of sorting it all out. Five to eleven, let's
go out to southern California where a synagogue that was
destroyed in the Eaten Fire back in twenty twenty five
has been vandalized for the second time in a year.

Anti Semitic graffiti found written on a mural at the
Pasadena Jewish Temple and Centers had just been painted by
children a couple months back. The mural had been created
in response to an earlier graffiti incident the same synagogue
back in January.

healthcare cuts and bringing the cost of living down.

terms of that deal midway through.

I mean, it just shows you cannot rely on the

deal that allows the Kingdom to use American technology to

this deal no different than what the Biden administration wanted,
but it fell apart after the October seventh attacks.

for two women suspected of killing a man in a
road rad attack that took place in Queens. This was
about one am Sunday morning on the belt Parkway right

near Farmers Boulevard, where neighbors say people drive just crazy
all over the blaze.

That is crazy, probably a mental problem.

I saw a lot of traffic and all the traffic
was coming on to the conduit.

So what police are telling us is it started off
as a fender brander, then escalated into a dispute. That's
when the two women apparently beat forty seven year old
Crusaine Dockery repeatedly on the head with a baseball bat.
He was taken to the hospital where he passed away
early Sunday.

Area every night, all the time, like doesn't matter a morning, evening,

with the victim. He suffered minor injuries. The two women, well,
they took off and a Honda Civic has not been
seen since.

highway sometimes people don't like it.

Yeah, that's true. That's why road rage is never really
a great idea. Several families of nine to eleven victims
starting a petition now to have Mayor Mom Donni bammed
from the ceremony marking the twenty fifth anniversary of the attacks.
Organizers accused the mayor of supporting groups and individuals who
have been critical of America and being sympathetic towards radical views.

The petition was started by Giovanni Galante, whose twenty nine
year old wife Grace was killed during the terror attack
at Ground Zero. A spokesperson for City Hall says Mam
Donni still plans to attend the ceremony to stand with
the victims and that taking place as it was maybe
a long weekend for the mayor. Neighbors on the Upper
West Side voicing their anger during a rally yesterday that

was organized after the stabbings of a Jewish man and
an Asian man, as the suspect there faces hate crime chargers.
Several speakers at this rally said the mayor bears responsibility,
pointing to him, saying that he has been over the
top with his accusations against bb Netagnauhu in Israel, and
they say that's what led to the stabbing in Central

Park last week. Now. Among the speakers yesterday were Republican
Goober innatorial nominee and Nassau County executive Bruce Blakeman.

the Upper West Side, my thoughts first and foremost are
with both the Asian New Yorker and the Jewish New
Yorker who were stabbed. I'm thankful that they are in
a stable condition and I'm wishing them a full and
speedy recovery. And I'm also thankful to the NYPD for
their quick and swift response to both apprehending the alleged perpetrator,
Earld Morales. And now I've seen the charges that have

been levied against him of attempted murder and a hate crime,
and I'm hopeful that he'll be prosecuted for full extat alogue.

And now some one reporter at the scene said, you know,
I got a follow up question. You know, the Jewish
community is not really happy with you right now.

What do you think about that?

How do you say Jeish New Yorkers who feel you're
fueling anti Semitism.

But I would say, first and foremost is there's no
tolerance for anti Semitism in this city. We have to
root out anti Semitism from across the five boroughs. And
that's because this is a city that is one that
has no room for hate or bigotry of any kind.
And when we make criticisms of a nation state, or policies.
We have to remember that those are criticisms of exactly that,
never of a people, never of a faith.

Then you had Israeli Prime Minister BB Netanyah, who was
going to be here for meeting that the White House
tomorrow with the President about the war in Iran, and
he was asked about Mayor mom Donnie and he says
that Mayor mom Donnie has been fomenting hate. This is
with him going, you know, the mayor's gone strong after
bb netanyahuo claiming that he wanted to arrest him until

he realized that he wasn't able to do so. Here
was Netaunyah, who speaking about this yesterday.

He's supposed to be the mayor of all New Yorkers, Jews, Christians, Muslims, everyone,
but he's trying to learn in one group against the other,
and he's foisting hate and fear. I speak to Jewish
Americans in New York and they're afraid right now. And
I don't think it's accidental that after he made this
hate speech against Israel and against me, the next day

a Jewish stabbed coming out of a synagogue.

The Prime Minister says, by the way that he intends
to attend the UN General Assembly in New York. That's
when the mayor wanted to have him arrested. He says,
not going to happen. He's not worried, he's kind of I've.

every year in my Prime ministership unless there are security conditions,
but barring that, and I don't expect that to be
the case this time. Yes, I do intend to come

W ABC WABC News Time forty nine. That's got to
Long Island where they continue to have these problems with
illegal street takeovers where a bunch of people on ATVs,
dirt bikes, motorcycles just takeover entire highways. Well over the weekend,
three people arrested, ten vehicles impounded after the suffer County
(30:17):
Police started cracking down on some of these illegal street
takeovers and estimated two hundred ATVs, dirt bikes and motorcycles.
They stretched across several Suffa communities.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
That's how big these things are.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
They did get nine to one one calls the police did.
This was about four point thirty in the afternoon on Saturday,
about riders doing stunts and driving recklessly around Route thirty
three forty seven and hop hoogs.

I think you know it's getting out of hand. I
think this should be a park somewhere.
Speaker 20 (30:46):
If they want to drive dirt bikes a four wheels,
they should be driving it there and not on the
public streets.

Well, yeah, when officers responded, they arrested two riders, impounded
several vehicles before the group dispersed, and then they regrouped
this group near the Motor Parkway and Express Drive in Brentwood.
And they're still a couple hundred of these guys on
the roadway about six thirty Saturday night. Definitely get them
loft the street and they're not worrying about the people, children, pets,

everything that's out there.

Thinks so horrible.

Yeah, So as the group traveled through Base Shore, police
say two ATVs became disabled, the riders abandoned those vehicles
fled on foot. One of those riders, a twenty two
year old, apprehended after officers allegedly discovered he was also
carrying a loaded handgun.

Wasn't that nice?

And I see him in my neighborhood and I see
him in other neighborhoods driving through different towns. Stangers for
both the people and the drivers.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
Yeah, and you know, the middle of the day makes
it even worse. Not that it's good anytime the day.
They police arrested a twenty three year old and a
twenty nine year old over the weekend Both are charged
with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, a whole bunch of other charges.
It was just last Friday that nine people were arrested
twelve vehicles impounded following an illegal racing and street takeover

event that took place in Farmingdale five forty one. Let's
go up to Orange County where there was just kind
of a crazy moment over the weekend. So they had
the circus in town at the Orange County Fair and
they were doing one of these performances under the big
tent with arrows, bow and arrows, something they've done I
guess probably hundreds, maybe thousands of times before. It is
(32:24):
this crew of performers from Wisconsin. I think they're a
husband and wife team. Not one hundred percent positive about that,
but this is the thing where they fire arrows sort
of in each other's direction and they do kind of
funky stuff with those arrows. One of the arrows did
what it wasn't supposed to do. It sent one of
these performers to the hospital.
Speaker 6 (32:44):
Well last night.
Speaker 16 (32:45):
Unfortunately, when she shot the crossbow, it caught him in
his neck. The good news is she caught him right
at the very corner of the neck.
Speaker 6 (32:55):
There was no blood.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
Yeah, so he's okay. But this happened right smack in
the middle of a performance. There's lots of kids there.
So the ring master said, he said, well, I better
get everybody out of here while the paramedics com in.
Speaker 16 (33:06):
Once that happen and we realize we can't go on
with the show, we just told everyone we need them
to exit the Big Time because we had.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
The paramedics comment yeah, So audience were ushered out of
the tent. Paramedics rushed into administer aid. They were able
to surgically remove the arrow from this guy's next neck.
The Circus of releasing a statement this morning saying that
the performer cuevor Wrangel is in stable condition and they're
grateful for the support he received on the scene. And
(33:37):
they say he's expected to be released soon, and he says, yeah,
I'm going to be back performing under the Big Tent
as soon as.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
I get the green light from doctors.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Five fifty three, we are getting more information on this
story that happened at the end of the week in
New Jersey last week where thirteen children became sick after ingesting.
Can't he suspected to contain hallucinogenic mushrooms. This was at
the y camp in East Orange. So one mother speaking
(34:06):
out over the weekend, she says that one of the
kids at the camp brought candy for everybody to share
with everybody. And she says that two of her eleven
year old sons were among the children who ate this
candy and then well got sick.
Speaker 23 (34:22):
Actually received a phone call from my son. He was
crying hysterically. I didn't know what was going on. Then
the AMT got on the phone and they pretty much
told me that my son has ate in a piece
of candy that was infused with the mushroom.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
So counselors at this ycamp, but first they could figure
out what was going on, they observed a child handing
out candy suspected to contain mushrooms. Of course they didn't
know that, and that, of course causes hallucinations and confusion.
They say thirteen children in total were a affected.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
That's a lot.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
He had parents who were showing up to pick their
kids up and saying, you know what's going on here.
The counselor is not paying attention, but it seems innocent.
I mean, this kid was just giving candy out. He
had no idea that it was laid.
Speaker 6 (35:12):
By my sons.
Speaker 23 (35:13):
I was told that the little boy that brung it
in got it as a birthday gift from his family member.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
Yeah, apparently he was just there to share it. Parents
now calling for a thorough investigation. They want to know
what happened, how the candy made its way into camp.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
That is insane.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
The question is more so, how did a child get
a hold of this?
Speaker 23 (35:33):
I mean, I'm pretty sure adults are around, so like,
how did the child get this in their possession? Him
being introduced to this in the camp where I bring
my child to every day, and I feel as though
the camp is supposed to be a safe space.
Speaker 7 (35:46):
This is terrible.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
Yes, so what they're being told by the East Orange Polices.
They say their detectives are conducting a thorough investigation to
a term and exactly what occurred. It seems maybe a
family member might have somehow either accidentally or purposely giving
it to this kid to share at camp.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
They'll get to the bottom of it.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
Doesn't seem like it's something that'll take a lot of investigating.
