What do you do when your spouse doesn't respond to you even though you've used their love language? It might be because you've hurt them but haven't apologized. A sincere apology might open the door for your spouse to forgive you and respond once again to your expressions of love.

A love language minute. Here's Doctor Gary Chapman on when
the love languages don't seem to work.

You see, when there's been a lot of hurt in
the relationship and couples have withdrawn from each other and
they're just sitting there now. Just speaking their love language
is not going to totally change the thing, you know, quickly, overnight.
It's one part of changing the thing. The other thing
would be to ask yourself, for what do I need
to apologize? You know, you haven't been perfect. So what

do you need to apologize for? So you apologize and
you speak their love language. Now, you've done two good things.
Whether they forgive you quickly or whether they don't, at
least you've acknowledged to them some of the things that
you've been doing wrongly. And they realize that you're really
changing here. It's a long haul thing. And it's also
not only speaking their language, but it's dealing with past

failures that will also tend to open up the possibility
for a new kind of relationship.
