This week on the APL nextED Mini-Pod, we are joined by Georgia State Associate Provost Nicolle Parsons-Pollard to talk about the current atmosphere of diversity, equity and inclusion within higher education and how COVID-19 impacted DEI initiatives.
COVID-19 flipped a switch within higher education causing many campuses to become vacant and requiring students, staff and faculty to become proficient in Zoom and other forms of virtual communication. It is easy to highlight the frustrations that came out of COVID-19 and the ensuing pandemic. When looking at diversity, equity and inclusion though, Dr. Parsons-Pollard believes that this flip actually opened a door for increased awareness around DEI initiatives.
This week, Dr. Parsons-Pollard joins host Kathleen Gibson to highlight the changes and challenges she has witnessed pertaining to DEI initiatives since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in part one of this two-part episode.
