At the Movies with William Fletcher

After doing so much Marvel over the last few years, it's finally time to cover something related to DC with Superman as we finally get the first chapter in the DCU.

After a couple of weeks off, the show is back with a look at Jurassic World Dominion to tie into the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth and as we get into this Summer movie season (for the Americans).

After covering a Pixar film last week, we're going to jump over and cover a Dreamworks franchise with How to train Your Dragon because apparently all animated films are going to be getting live action remakes now.

Another dive into the well of Pixar this week as we look back at Finding Nemo and it's sequel Finding Dory with as few water-based puns as we can muster.

We're having a retrospective look at Jesse Armstrong's career but it does just slowly become a discussion of the British comedy scene. 

A big franchise retrospective this week with a look at the history of Mission: Impossible and we get a surprise guest who shows up during the proceedings.

More Disney and I'm even joined by Stitch himself at a couple of points to talk about this film. We also just talk about the future of the industry and the Disney live action remakes.

We're back with Marvel and while this was intended to be a look at Black Widow, it turns into a general Marvel discussion as well as the upcoming Thunderbolts.

Another TV show discussion this week with a look at David Lynch's Twin Peaks as well as the prequel film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. We also touch on Lynch's other work and the evolution of TV.

More of an obscure choice for the podcast this week as we look at the 2009 film Daybreakers. We also talk about the Australian film industry, vampire films in general and the work of Ryan Coogler.

We're being a bit more offbeat with a look at a TV show this week with a look at the history of Black Mirror to tie into season 7. We also talk about Charlie Brooker's career in general, relationships and how much the show has aged.

On the flipside of covering Disney's live action remakes and Hollywood slop, we go back in time to 1959 to look at the seminal classic, North by Northwest.

We're covering another big collection of films this week with a look at Disney's recent history with the live action remake.

Time for another director's filmography retrospective where we look at the career of Bong Joon-ho with the main focus being on Parasite but with pitstops at his previous 6 films before looking forward to Mickey 17.

The show is back with the annual Oscars episode looking at this year's upcoming Oscars ceremony looking at the Best Picture nominees this year and the surrounding controversies, some of the other major categories and the coming year of film.

As we are one to do, we're delving into the MCU for the first of many times this year with a look at the Captain America trilogy with a bit of a state of the nation address of the current state of the MCU peppered throughout.

There's nothing to tie into this week so let's just cover a film from Guillermo del Toro with Pan's Labyrinth. We also talk about his career, the weird customs of European film festivals and foreign-language cinema in general.

We're going back into the world of TV this week with a look at the world of Star Trek (primarily the Original Series and Next Generation). We also somehow get onto the topic of Doctor Who.

We're back with the second and final part of the review of the year as we conclude with the second half of 2024.
