I am your host Emma Della Rossa, and today I will be interviewing Kristen Antunes.
Kristen Antunes is a music industry professional and musician based in Toronto, Ontario. She is a graduate from the University of Toronto’s Masters of Music Technology and Digital Media program where she studied music business, entrepreneurship, marketing, psychology, recording, and production. She also holds a Bachelor of Music and Minor in Sociology from the same institution and is regularly requested as a guest lecturer for extracurricular programs such as Future Sounds 6ix and the Amplify! Mentorship Program. Kristen was recently selected for the Women in Music Canada Leadership Accelerator program, learning new business strategies from a wide variety of industry leaders and joining a community of high-achieving women in Canadian music. She holds extensive experience from across the music industry, including rights management, artist management, music publishing, and digital media development, and currently works as an Account Executive with Canadian music rights organization, SOCAN. In her work at SOCAN, Kristen manages high-profile member accounts, spearheads policy developments and revisions, and acts as a mentor for the company’s Summer Internship Program. She is regularly consulted for her knowledge in music publishing, and has organized staff SQL training to improve data literacy. She is a staunch advocate for music rights and equitable compensation for artistic work, and is regularly commissioned as an arranger, producer, and performer for artists and schools across Canada.
